2023.06.05 03:49 Siw5389 Financial aid issues
So I’m halfway through my clinical year of PA school but I’m absolutely drowning in debt and I’m not sure what to do anymore.
Our school has been steadily decreasing our loan amount that we receive for housing and food due to random tuition increases almost every semester. I’ve been sent to 3 different states so far (one being on the west coast and I go to school on the east coast). Every place I’ve been sent to has been super expensive and I am still paying rent and bills back home on top of this. My issue is really paying for all this travel that is what’s drowning me.
I asked my school if I could take out some more loans because what they give us is not enough and doesn’t account for all our travel we have to do during rotations but they’re saying they can’t because they’re giving me the max amount so I can’t take out any more student loans and I’d have to take out a private loan. But I can’t take out a private loan with no income so I’m at a crossroads right now. I know I’ve come so far but a part of me wants to drop out so I can’t stop struggling and just work again. I hate feeling like this and I don’t know what to do but I know I need more money very soon. What should I do?

2023.06.05 02:24 H0tVinegar Weird U.P. Please
Hey you guys! I’m from the lower peninsula but have been living in Pennsylvania for 17 years. My husband and I are coming to visit family in 2 weeks. For 3 days and 2 nights only, we’re able to drop our 7 year old with my parents and go to the UP. We’ll be staying in McMillan, which is not far from Newberry. The original plan was to do Pictured Rocks. However, we want to do things that we wouldn’t normally do with our kid in tow.
We don’t want to get too far west because we already have so much driving going on. (10 hours from PA, then 4 hours from hometown to McMillan). I’ve already done Tahquamenon a few times. kitchitikipi is a possibility. But I just wanted to reach out and see if I could find out any non-touristy stuff.
We like ghost towns, dilapidated buildings, swampy hikes, weird museums. I would like to get up to Lake Superior, but I’m not expecting to swim in it. I don’t really know what I’m asking for. This is our first time without our kid EVER and I just want to make the most of it. Anyone got a tip on something off the beaten path? Thanks!

2023.06.05 01:31 Hefty_Fox5207 I need help with housing
I made a post before asking for help and still haven't had any luck. I have a toddler and in desperate need. I have a full time job been there awhile and I also have a side job working on cars. I don't do any drugs other than smoke cigs but not in the home due to my toddler. I'm a very honest hard working man just trying be the best father I can be. We currently stay in a hotel. It's breaking my bank BIG time. All bills we pay currently is
Car payment Car Insurance Day-care Gas Food Hotel storage fee
That's not counting all other bills and the hotel fee alone is $865.93 every two weeks is killing me I'm always broke. I'm looking for a private home owner. Someone willing give me a chance in life and a nice or decent place for my toddler to play. I don't have much money to put down on a place if any however I'm willing work something out for that rather it's fixing something that may need fixed at the home or another home you may own I'm pretty handy with that type of stuff as well. We had a nice apartment we have lived there almost 3 years. We had to move out for the fact I'm a felon dated back from 2010. My record DOES NOT include anything to do with guns, drugs, robbery nothing sexual. My charge has something do with my ex and I arguing. I could've beat the charge if I had the money to afford a good attorney which at the time I couldn't because I was a single father. Therefore I took the charge to be home with my kids. If I had tried to fight the charge with a court appointed attorney I may have lost the case went to jail and lost custody of my kids. I'm looking for a 2 or 3 bed home, mobile home / tralier for around $1500 to $1700 a month or maybe less if possible please. I work at a hospital and and my toddler goes to daycare in West Knoxville so I kind of perfer somewhere in the West Knoxville area so I'm close to the daycare and work. I'm in my 40s I do have bad credit which I'm trying to fix but I can't do that until I find a place to live that's reasonable so I'm able to save money to put towards it. Which my credit is bad only due to hospital bills. So please can anyone help me? Also I do NOT want apartment my toddler has ADHD very hyper active so they have loud outburst that they can't control. Also the last place we did rent from is also willing vouch that we was very good renters never caused any issues stayed to ourself and everything. Thank you all if anyone is able to help. I'm sick and tired of this place and want to see my toddler have their own room again vs a hotel.

2023.06.05 00:39 josepashwany Golden Gate Park Disc shops?
Hey everyone. I’m going to be out in San Francisco this week and I’ll be stopping by Golden Gate Park for sure so I was curious if anyone knew of some good disc supply shops close by or even some advice or stories about the course. I’ve never been to the west coast at all and I’m looking forward to trying out something other than the PA/NJ courses that I’m used to. Thanks in advance!

2023.06.04 20:48 peak-7 Pennsylvanian fans, a little help!
| So I decided to do some research about where Rosewood would be in real life. After a few days, give or take, of research I think (not sure) Rosewood is supposed to be set in Delaware County? They mentioned places like Brookhaven being nearby (which is in Delaware) and the way they talk about other places checks out. For instance, Aria says Mike is all the way up in Harrisburg and Harrisburg is in Dauphin County which is about Northwest of Delaware County (I think; I'm not sure if this map is accurate). Another clue was in season 4, the episode with Hector the creepy mask guy, Alison in a flashback is looking for the quickest way to route 30, the way the guy talks about it gave me the impression it was nearby so I did some digging and it turns out Route 30 is along the main road of the Main Line towns (which the books say Rosewood is on-A LOT). Am I right or not? If there are any fans from Pennsylvania or that region in particular can you chime in please? Thanks. https://preview.redd.it/zptdc3dgq14b1.jpg?width=943&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=83e013c94f42710586e994027df42e0a42eb54f0 submitted by peak-7 to PrettyLittleLiars [link] [comments] |

Chapter Twelve - The Blacksmith's Boy (Part Four)
‘Should’ve listened, stray.’
The first blow caught Cal across the cheek, whipping his head back with a crack. Light exploded around the edges of his eyes, and his vi-sion spun. The second took him under the chin, hard as a hammer, and his legs vanished from under him. His world tumbled into a crash of scattered chairs and tables, and half-empty mugs went clattering across the floor, throwing foam into the smoky air like sea-spray.
‘Shit-’
‘Watch it, runt-’
‘By the Makers, what are you-’
The other villagers were surging to their feet, roused from their bickering, but not fast enough. Cal somehow managed to regain his feet in time to find Petr advancing on him, fists bunched and face like thun-der. Behind him, Carel was clawing at his arms, trying to hold him back, but he shrugged her off, then swatted Lokk to one side as the slender innkeep’s son tried to bar his path, sending him skittering into a row of chairs. Cal’s head was spinning, and his eyes blurred.
‘I’m not done with you, you little shit.’ Petr growled, closing the ground between them with big angry strides. Cal swayed, dazed. His body was on fire. He couldn’t move. The youth’s heavy fist slammed into his gut, and he doubled over, air rushing out of his chest in a choked gasp. Someone managed to get between them then. Three someones, hauling Petr back. Cal crumpled to his knees, retching emp-tily onto the ale-splattered floor.
‘That’s enough, boy!’
‘Cunt had it coming-’
‘Enough, Petr! He’s ‘ad enough.’
Cal blinked up at them groggily, spittle trailing from his aching mouth. Forley and Godry had Petr by one arm, the miners by the other, struggling to hold him back. Albin hadn’t moved. He was sitting by the fire where he had been, a crooked smile on his lips. Cal squinted, eyes reeling, mouth full of bile.
‘The fuck is going on?’
The Innkeep was standing by the bar, a fresh cask under one arm, rosy cheeks suddenly hard. Petr stopped struggling, shrugging himself out of the patrons’ grasp.
‘Little cunt tried to hit me.’ He told the Innkeep with a snort. He jabbed a finger at Cal where he knelt on the floor, gasping mutely for air. Lokk appeared at his side, helping him unsteadily to his feet. The slender youth was looking a little shaken, and there was a small, red cut at his brow. ‘Had it coming!’
Cal’s breath was coming back, and the room around him was steady-ing. He saw Carel standing a little back from them, hair scattered mess-ily over her wet cheeks. As he looked, she caught his eye for a moment, then looked away, face hidden in the shadows of her sandy hair. The pail of water was on its side nearby, steaming as its contents spread slowly across the sopping floor.
‘I don’t give a damn if he bedded your mother!’ The Innkeep re-plied. He took one look at Carel and set down the cask on the bar, step-ping in close enough for the big youth to smell the pipe-smoke on his breath. ‘There’ll be no fighting, in my inn.’
Petr flinched in spite of himself, taking half a step back.
‘Boy’s right, Goran.’ Albin added, scowling. ‘Saw the whole thing. Little runt started-’
‘That’s enough!’ The Innkeep cut him short, turning an angry eye on the butcher. ‘Unless you want to tell the blacksmith whose son’s been beating his hand?’
Albin hesitated at that, and his ruddy cheeks lost a little of their col-our.
‘Thought not.’ The Innkeep went on. ‘Now, get out. And take your fool son with you.’
Albin was out of his seat in an instant, all thoughts of the Blacksmith forgotten.
‘Alb, wait-’
The butcher shoved Forley aside. He stopped just a few inches from the Innkeep, glaring down at the smaller man with hard eyes. Even from where he was, Cal could smell the ale on his breath, but the Inn-keep didn’t flinch. The fire stirred in the sudden quiet, and the villagers stood in a moment of perfect stillness, taut as a lute-string. Godry and Forley shared a worried look. Priss had appeared beside Carel and put an arm around her slumped shoulders. Petr was glaring at Cal, dark eyes boring holes into his forehead, but Cal didn’t even notice. His head was hanging limply over his chest, and if Lokk hadn’t been hold-ing him, he was sure his legs would’ve buckled. His head spun, and his skin burned. Neither the butcher nor the Innkeep had moved an inch.
‘Come on, boy.’ Albin said at last, eyes not leaving the Innkeep for a moment. ‘Let’s go.’
‘But da-’
‘I said let’s go.’
He held still for a moment longer, then took his son by the arm and led him roughly away towards the door.
‘You’ll pay double next time.’ The Innkeep called out to him as he reached the door. ‘Both of you.’
For a moment it looked as if Albin would turn back. Then he scowled, spat on the floor, and shoved his son out into the night beyond the door, slamming it shut behind them.
There was a collective sigh of relief from the remaining patrons. The Innkeep watched the door for a few moments, then began unhurriedly scooping up discarded mugs from the ale-splashed floor.
‘I think that’s enough for one evening.’ He said quietly as he worked, not looking up. Godry, Forley and the miners looked at each other.
‘Bar’s a mess, Goran. We’ll lend a hand.’ Forley offered.
‘We’ll manage.’ The Innkeep told him, still not looking up. The vil-lagers exchanged another look, then they made for the door without a word. Priss stepped back from Carel, giving her shoulder a squeeze, and joined her husband as the door swung closed behind them. Lokk didn’t say a word. Carel still hadn’t lifted her eyes. Cal shrugged him-self away from his friend’s arm, taking a step towards her.
‘Carel, I-’
The Innkeep straightened suddenly, hurling one of the mugs across the room. It smashed into the closed door, shattering across the thresh-old with a crash.
‘Don’t you dare, boy.’ He growled, whirling on him, soft eyes hard as steel, fidgeting hands steady. ‘You’ve had a fall tonight. Must’a knocked your head. Only reason you aren’t catching another beating.’
Cal looked back at him groggily for a moment. His wits were return-ing, and the ache was spreading outwards from his jaw and cheek in throbbing waves. His shredded arms and legs were afire with shifting lines of pain, and his back ground at his ribs like a blade. Stupid. What was he thinking? Running from shadows in the dark. Brawling in front of half the village. What would the Blacksmith say? This was not their agreement. This was not their word. Blood rushed into his cheeks, hot with shame, and he lowered his eyes.
‘Go home, boy.’
‘But, I-’
‘I said go home, boy.’ The Innkeep stared back at him with cold eyes. ‘You can’t stay here.’
Cal hesitated. He looked at Lokk, but his friend would not meet his eye. He nodded slowly, straightening as best he could, and made un-steadily for the door. He looked back from the threshold, but nothing had stirred. A mess of upturned tables and chairs, scattered mugs and soaking floor boards. The three figures that stood frozen amongst it all seemed suddenly very different to Cal, their names new and unfamiliar. No one looked up as he opened the door. He hesitated, skin bloody and numb, jaw aching like winter, haggard, dazed, and spared one final glance for Carel, standing alone beside the bar, a dozen words racing on his silent tongue. Then he turned and went out alone into the dark, and the cold took him as its own.
*
It was quiet outside the Nest, and the streets were empty. The storm had moved off to blow itself out over the lowlands in the west, and only the faintest whir of it carried on the air between the little stone build-ings of Rindon, the fevered mumbling of weary hills. Cal walked for a time, going nowhere in particular, dry eyes moving listlessly over the stones, picking out the familiar notches of the rock, the knowing wink-ing of shuttered fires. The pathways were wet beneath his boots, pud-dled and gleaming in the silver stain of the moon. No one to be seen. Not Petr, waiting for him behind some dark corner, nor the other pa-trons, staggering home arm in arm. No faceless shadows leering at him from empty doorways, chasing him into the night. All was as it should be. After all, why wouldn’t it be? The thought filled him with a kind of bemused, frivolous amusement. He knew this place. Why should it not be as it always was?
After a time, he found himself at the eastern edge of the village, looking down over the little cluster of thatching and its glinting win-dows. It was cold, he knew, but he did not feel it. The bloody skin be-neath his ragged clothes tingled numbly. Even his jaw seemed to have stopped aching. He looked down, for no reason in particular, and saw that the dirt at his feet was churned and dented as though by some fall-ing beast, and little flecks of red blinked back at him in the moonlight. He realised that this must have been where he had fallen. Where his legs had failed and the world had spun like sand in ocean spray. Where the shadows had chased him from the hillside, swarming after him as wolves after their prey. He realised he was frowning. His back was to the trees, but he felt no fear. What was there to fear? After all, it was just a dream, and there is nothing to fear from dreams.
The trees were before him. Had they not been behind? The dark pil-lars stretched away up the slope, and the great black shadow of the Teeth held the horizon beyond. The murmur of the distant storm moved through the branches, shifting softly. Nothing else stirred.
He realised he was walking. The trees were all around, watching him. The earth was soft and wet beneath his feet. He looked down as he went, picking out the footprints in the loam. Something had come this way. Bootprints, scrambling, sprinting, falling. He had come this way.
So he walked, much as he had before, aiming without aim, and the trees whispered their same whispers. Words he had known since he first came here, all those years ago. Slowly, he went, until his eyes grew accustomed to the dimness, to the silver luminescence of the moon. Footprints. Bootprints. Running, scrambling. Falling.
Alone.
He lingered a while, just to be sure. But there was no mistake. There had been no men in the trees. No shadows to flee from. No one else had come this way. His head ached. He could not have… there must have been…
But there was nothing. Nothing but untouched earth, smooth as fresh wax. Just a dream. And there is nothing to fear from dreams.
So he came down out of the trees, and made for home along well-worn paths, watching for shadows he knew were not there.

2023.06.04 17:12 lilkimchee88 Area is turning into high COL. At what point do you consider moving?
35 years old, wrapping up a degree in tech. First job in the industry has me making $85k, which I was pretty happy with coming from the service industry. After I got that job, my spouse started watching our two toddlers during the day, which saves a lot of money on daycare, and cut back to part time bringing in $28k a year while he wraps up some tech certifications. His full time income before stepping back was $50k. Should be back to working full time very soon (possibly in his current industry) as he’s almost done with this certification.
We live in the DFW area which has been exploding and costs, particularly housing, have sky rocketed. Our $1500 rent on a two bedroom we have had for years went up to $1900+ on this renewal, which was wild. Our area is not affluent but it’s next to the affluent ones.
We are mid 30s and behind as far as retirement or investing, as we were both service industry, and I try to stay focused on the progress we have made in the last two years…but the rising cost of living in our area makes me question if we need to relocate. Our town in DFW has an average household income of about $105k, and we are at that with him working part time and above it once he goes back to full time.
We are thinking of moving back to the small town in PA that I am from: rent is very low, I could likely get a remote tech job and we have a good support system there. My concern is the job market: if I lose my job in DFW, I have a way better chance of getting another one quickly than I do in a small town outside of Pittsburgh.
I’m just not really sure what to do. We love this area in DFW so much but I do not know if it’s wise to stay when we could live somewhere else for less. We were broke for so long that I have this lingering fear my tech job will vanish and we’ll be back to square 1 and in a high COL area. I understand that’s anxiety talking, but I really just want to make smart decisions for our family. I appreciate any insight!

Hi... Never thought i'd stumble on this reddit sub...Nag-search lang ako about ADD kasi sumapit na yung sabbath day ko. Naalala ko lang kayo(dumadalo pa ba kayo? Ako hindi haha). And by "kayo" I meant our fellow brothers, siss, and kung may friends ako na andito...
Btw share ko lang haha, 14th year ko na sana this year, but I think 6-7 years lang ako dumalo ng straight pagkatapos, lulubog-lilitaw na lang kung kailan maisipan. Busy eh.
Eli, how are things under KDR's leadership? I take it, hindi maganda based sa mga post dito. Na-shocked nga ako eh, but I've had my share of doubts noon pa. Bakit pala wala na akong nababalitaang Expo? Pagpapalaganap sa West Countries? Bible Study? Although, I have relatives whom were baptized mid 90s, iirc 1995 'yun, kaya lang hindi na kami nagkakausap masyado. I even hooked up online sa huddle noon kahit hindi na ako active. I mourned and sympathized with you, bros and sis, at that time.
Napahaba na intro ko...parang si ____ hahahah. Jk. Ang gusto ko lang naman talaga sabihin at itanong eh, kamusta na ang ADD/MCGI? Tagal ko din naglingkod at nakibahagi sa kapatiran na ito. May right naman siguro ako maki-kamusta kahit hindi na active.
Anong nangyari?

2023.06.04 14:16 INeedhelpSoICanHelp Being autonomous is the actual luxury.
Daunting realization that travelling and all the glittery good stuff are just bonuses.
I've been saving up money for quite some time now and I'm about to enter my twenties. I'm at the 100k mark (that I've made from part time and stocks) and ever since, I've understood that the good stuff are EXPENSIVE.
Kase grabe, if it wasn't for my parents covering for food, water, and housing, all these years, I'd be a beggar, and now I'm scared - this is what living means pala jusq.
My dreams of traveling the east and west has been diminished to being sufficient na lang ;-;
So how is yall winging it? Kita ko pa sa iba may checklist of countries pa. ;-;;

So eto na nga. Recognition day na.
Okay nalang. No choice eh haha.
Napakakikay ko pala dati. Kikay na makakalimutin. Ngayon makakalimutin nalang haha.

Auto Fuel
- Spotters and Team Members may now control their driver's Auto Fuel state.
Spotter
- The iRacing Spotter System has received some updates to help make it more accurate and dynamic. It is now better able to read Race Control events as they occur on the track, and a variety of new Spotter Calls have been added:
- - - Car in Front/Behind is Pitting
- - - Faster Car Approaching
- - - Gaining/Losing the car in front
- - - Leader Change
- - - Leader Lap Time
- - - Leader is Lapping You
- - - Session New Fastest Lap
- - - Your Personal Best Lap Time
- - - Time Remaining in Session 20/10/5 Minutes
- - - Settings for these new messages have been added to the “[SPCC]” section of the “app.ini” file.
- - - - - These messages will only play if “Chattiness” is set to MEDIUM or HIGH, and they are turned on in the “app.ini” file, which they are by default.
- A new “Silence” function has been added for the Spotter.
- - - In the Sound Options Menu, users can bind a key press that will interrupt and stop any current spotter message and temporarily disable future messages for a short duration. The duration of the hush may be adjusted via the “hushDuration” variable in the “app.ini” file, found in the “[SPCC]” section.
- “Leader Car” calls now returns the leader car in the same class as the player car. This means all spotter messages pertaining to the leader will now reference the leader in the same class as the player, instead of the outright leader.
- - - Messages include:
- - - - - Leader is pitting now
- - - - - Leader is at Start/Finish
- - - - - You're catching the leader
- - - - - One lap to win (if you are the leader car)
- Both Italian spotter packs have been updated and improved!
- - - Many thanks to Renzo A. Olivieri and Marco Arcidiacono!
- The Race Laps remaining spotter message logic has been updated.
- Fixed an issue with the fuel spotter calls when the pit entry location was dramatically different from the Start/Finish line location.
Graphics
- A new Graphics Option has been added: Hide Cockpit Obstructions.
- - - This option hides several visually obstructive elements from the world, including: Halo, A-Pillar, and Rock Screen.
- Vehicles that utilize the New Damage model have had their car model format adjusted to reduce video memory demands.
- Improved the accuracy of steering angles for viewing your opponents’ cars’ wheels.
- Adjust brake light exposure on some cars to try to prevent them from turning white when viewed from a distance.
- Updated the system which processes the hiding and displaying of halos for Replays.
- GGX blended dirt texture shaders have been improved.
- SpeedTree lighting has been updated.
- The graphics Option for SpeedTree self-shadowing has been removed.
- - - The visual benefits were minimal and the processing needs were demanding.
- Tooltips have been added for SSAO parameters.
- A new SDK for SpeedTree has been integrated.
- Fixed an issue where the reverse and unseen sides of some SpeedTree faces were being rendered, wasting processing time.
- Fixed an issue where distortion particles were not rendering properly unless they were inside the car.
- Fixed an issue where motion blur would trigger whenever the garage was visited.
- Fixed an issue where motion blur was appearing at different amounts on different parts of the same car.
3D Foliage System
- A new environmental graphics feature option has been added to the graphics options menu: Foliage!
- - - The new Foliage system procedurally generates 3D foliage of an appropriate biome type at specified tracks. Foliage may include grasses, shrubs, boulders, cacti, flowers, and other small environmental assets. 3D foliage has no impact on driving or physics, but should decorate the world much more realistically.
- - - In the Graphics Options menu, there are several levels of detail that may be selected for use by the 3D Foliage System which can customize your visual experience and your rendering performance. You may also select to disable the system entirely.
- - - With this release, only Willow Springs International Raceway has been seeded by the new 3D Foliage system so far, but Mother Nature always finds a way to spread!
Visual Effects
- Lighting for particle effects has been improved.
- The PopcornFX SDK has been updated to the latest version.
Audio
- Audio Hot Swap support has been added to iRacing!
- - - Forgot to plug in your headset before the race starts? iRacing now detects your device when it's plugged in, even during a race. If you've selected "System Default" from the sound options, audio automatically moves to the new device when the default changes. If you have selected a specific audio endpoint, it activates once it's available.
- - - Runtime audio device switching is now supported. When the default device is selected, a new default device can be chosen in Windows, and the Simulator will use the new device. If a specific device is selected, it will be used in the Simulator when it is activated in Windows.
- - - - - disableWindowsCoreAudio=0 When enabled (1), this option disables any Windows Core Audio integration (native windows audio).
- - - - - disableAudioDeviceChangedEvents=0 When enabled (1), this option disables dynamic audio device changing.
- - - Please note: Audio Hot Swapping is enabled by default.
- A new Audio Options setting has been added which allows you to assign a System Communication Default Device.
- A new audio option, “ambientMusicDisabled”, has been added to the “app.ini” file.
- - - 0 is the default value. Setting this parameter to 1 will disable all environment music that is normally played over the PA system while in the Simulation.
- Dynamic brake sounds have been rebalanced.
- Audio for load transmission on a variety of cars has been improved.
- The engine audio for all Pace Cars has been adjusted and optimized.
Environment
- New color and texture variations have been added for a variety of parked vehicles found around the tracks.
Interface
- Enhanced the right-click pop-up menus on the Session/Replay screen, and the Driving screen, to provide the option for private messaging (PM-ing) an individual user, the current driver of a car, or a car's entire Team (which includes a driver's spotters/crew in non-team sessions).
- - - Existing Admin/Race Control operations applied to a car that would have PM-ed someone on the team have been updated to message the whole team, instead of just one team member.
- - - Manually PM-ing a car number using "/#N", with N being the displayed car number, including leading zeros if shown, will now PM the whole team.
- - - To PM just the team member that's currently driving the car, use "/#N@" (add the @ symbol immediately after the car number). If the team's car is in its pit stall but the driver has gotten out of the car, that user is still PM-ed. If the team's car is not even in the world, no PM is sent when attempting to message its current driver, and you will be informed of this.
- - - - - To prevent receiving duplicate messages, if you would receive a chat message you sent because the target includes you (you're on the target team, you're the target team's driver, or you're talking to yourself!), you only receive the message due to being associated with the target of the message. That is, the message is not separately echoed directly back to you.
- - - You can continue to manually PM an individual using the existing mechanism of specifying their name after the "/".
- Text chat responses to Race Control Admin commands now identify the targeted entry with the team name and car number, instead of the name of the driver. In non-driver-swap events, the “team name” is the driver's name.
- An option for the units selection has been updated to “English (USA)” for clarity.
Camera
- A new highest option level, “Ultra”, has been added for Motion Blur.
- Fixed an issue with Driver View Pitch/Roll chassis effects so that when the view is locked to the horizon the car can now roll farther without the camera following the position of the car. This should help reduce motion sickness in VR if you use this feature.
- Fixed an issue for whenever a car’s center-of-mass left the camera frame, all motion blur on the car was lost.
- Fixed an issue where the focus of the camera was getting unwanted motion blur for cockpit cameras.
- Fixed an issue with motion blur on cars when using multiple displays.
Controls
- The automatic parking brake that holds a car still when you come to a stop will now fully apply itself anytime the car comes to a stop, rather than waiting for the user to hold the brake pedal down once stopped. This should help prevent cars from accidentally rolling away when you come to a quick stop but fail to fully engage the brake pedal.
- The Reset Button now prevents users from putting you into the car if your steering wheel needs assignment. Doing this now will take you to the Controls Wizard and allow you to assign and calibrate your driving controls.
- The test for XInput devices has been simplified.
- Fixed an issue that could cause some joysticks to fail to calibrate properly if the previous calibration was similar enough to the new calibration.
- Fixed an issue in the Options screen where the inputs (shifter, wheel, etc) would not respond if a button was held down on a wheel.
Force Feedback
- When calibrating a wheel, iRacing now checks that your selected maximum wheel angle and Force Feedback status match what we expect based on your detected hardware. A notification will appear if these do not match.
- - - This is an effort to detect common errors with certain wheels, either that do not have the correct drivers installed or that have a maximum wheel angle set to a very low value by default. If you receive this notification, or need help setting up your racing wheel, please reach out to Customer Support.
- iRacing will now try to automatically detect your racing wheel’s maximum force, and adjust the wheel force slider accordingly. This is used to help us safely and automatically calculate the force levels to send to your wheel. We can't always know how your wheel is set up, so this may be an overestimate of your maximum force level. This is the safer guess, but in some instances it may limit how strong of a force you can request from the simulation. In those cases you can turn off the “auto-mode” and manually set your wheel’s peak value, if known.
- Improved the force auto tune button so that it takes the wheels maximum force into account. This will lighten up the auto tune as the wheel force increases.
- - - There is a new scaling parameter in the “app.ini” file, “autoForceFactor”. This value defaults to 0.5, and allows you to adjust the aggressiveness of the reduction. Setting “[Force Feedback] autoForceFactor=1” will remove all reduction, giving you a 1:1 force output. Setting it to 0 will effectively always give you 6 Nm of peak force at the wheel. Any value in between will blend between these two extremes. The default value of 0.5 should be a good value for most users.
- A mappable button (Ctrl-A) has been added to apply the Auto Force adjustment found in the F9 Black Box.
- For the Auto Force Feedback peak force detection, data collected when the car is out of control will now be suppressed. Also, data collection will be paused for several seconds immediately after an incident. The goal is to make this system more stable and consistent, even if you wreck.
- For Force Feedback, a safety check has been added to detect if the wheel jumped in position (ie: we lost/gained communication with the wheel). If a communication interruption is detected, Force Feedback will be suppressed momentarily for safety.
- A new slew rate limiter filter that is controlled via the smoothing slider is now available in the Force Feedback options tab.
- - - This filter limits the rate of change of the force feedback signal so your wheel can't accelerate beyond a fixed value. In essence it smooths out the large jolts while leaving the rest of the signal alone. A value of 25% will have almost no impact on your regular driving, while softenting out curb or wall impacts, and a value of 75% will smooth out most rumble strips and make curb hits almost invisible. If you find that you have to turn down the FFB forces below the level you would like because the jolts from curbs or accidents are too large, then try turning this filter up instead. Try a value of 50% to start, and turn it down to 25% if you feel it is too much.
- - - - - You can go back to the old boxcar filter via the “[Force Feedback] smoothingFilterType=1” entry in the “app.ini” file.
Replays
- Chat messages and incident point accruement are now saved and viewable with Replays.
- Fixed an issue where custom Paint Schemes were not appearing on AI Drivers in Replays.
Telemetry
- Live brake line pressure (LFbrakeLinePress) has now been zeroed out and will no longer show a value.
- - - Disk based brake line pressure is still available (LFbrakeLinePress), and now has any ripple from the abs modulation included in its value.
- - - A new BrakeABSCutPct value has been added to the disk based telemetry that shows the percent of brake force reduction being applied by the ABS system.
- Driver suit, body, face, and helmet type ids have been added to the session string.
Official iRacing Sporting Code
- A variety of updates have been made to the Official iRacing Sporting Code, including:
- - - A new section 6.8.3. has been added which describes the correct behavior for Starting from Pits.
- - - Restructured the paragraphs describing Rolling Starts for improved clarity for both Oval and Road racing.
- - - Better explained how multiclass cars grid, and defined what starts a multiclass race.
- - - License Class images have been updated.
- - - Identified that Joker Laps may not be used for time-based competitions at Rallycross Tracks.
- - - A reminder has been added that it is unacceptable for suspended or restricted Members to use alternate accounts.
- - - Identified that nefarious tactics may also not be used during Races, and removed a poor example of nefarious behavior.
- Review the latest version of the Official iRacing Sporting Code here:

2023.06.04 04:20 reject_sensi-versity Rutgers vs. Pomona
For PreMed Track (Major: Molecular Bio)
Pomona - Very high med school acceptance (85%) w/ grade inflation + accessibility to their pre-health resources - Ability to explore the 5Cs - Has the prestige (in terms of grad school). Next to major city (LA) - Love the liberal arts feel— I am not overwhelmed, I get to know my professors, and I can learn to love learning
Cons - Not sure if Pomona is known to be good with appealing financial aid. - $36k a year ?!!?!?????!? - Location is beautiful but it’s in a quaint old-person town (which is also kind of a pro) - Transportation is limited, cost of living is high
Rutgers Pros - If I were to be the TOP premed student at Rutgers, I would have the same chances as anyone for med school - Probably lots of volunteering considering how close its university hospital is - East coast and NY-NJ-PA tristate is good, better than West Coast for jobs (will go back for med school) - Cheaper ($8k/year) - Better accessibility to food (it’s a college town with common-name stores + restaurants) - Traditional feel - Most important: I graduate nearly debt-free
Cons: - Too large 💀, I feel like I’ll miss catching the bus to class all the time - NJ is depressing - Student body isn’t a great fit for me - Asbestos in the dorms, SA assault cancels Orientation Week, Professor Strike— Reputation is….. scary. - More competition with other people for access to resources, less time with professors -Some have told me their premed advisors discourage some med school applicants - Might burn out easily then consider switch
