I had open heart surgery 2 years ago and post-op I was given fentanyl to manage the pain while in the ICU. It did nothing to me and felt like water. This was not the first time I'd had this issue, a few months prior to surgery I had a TEE performed and was given fentanyl to put me under light anesthesia. Neither incident had any effect on me (and yes this means I was fully conscious during the TEE).
I have no history of substance use, never even smoked pot. I'm in my early 30s, mildly obese. I am curious what the biological explanation of this might be, as I'm having a hard time finding resources on this topic. Thank you

i feel like a broken person who needs to be fixed and pieced back together…
i’ve been in an odd friendship with my best friend w undiagnosed bpd (i cudn’t confirm and kept denying till i saw her split and almost physically attack her partner towards the end of our friendship and upon reading this sub and the pieces just aligned…). our friendship is odd because it always felt like i was her partner even though she already had one. we always had like a weird situationship (even though she has a partner) and would often want me to marry her even though i told her i wouldn’t go gay for religious reasons.
i’ve always doubted her love for me because she would only ever come to me when she breaks up or is having relationship issues and i always brought it up that i feel like a replacement or i’m being used to which she would just deny. it ultimately caused us our friendship because i couldn’t trust her and ended up doing somethings i regret to her. i just feel used because one moment she says she loves me and then when she splits and discards me it’s as though she never loved me at all… are they even capable of loving someone or is it just for selfish reasons and only when you get on their good side?
i want to believe that she did and does love me because of everything we experienced together but just in the current headspace where i’m painted black, she doesn’t and is not capable of both holding love and hatred for me due to obviously their brain not capable of understanding grey areas. it’s always one or the other.

why do i even care when i got discarded and it’s been 6 months and a hoover at the forth month mark. and she’s just a friend! oh yah cos i hold so much compassion and love for her and got manipulated into believing she’s always the victim and not being able to tell her off when she’s doing a bad thing due to my also horrible abandonment issues and the constant fear of losing her because you’ve guessed it! i’ve been discarded so many times but unbeknownst to me i thought she was just busy! it’s totally warped my mind that i kept gaslighting myself every time she hurt me because i felt like it was not my right to feel hurt only hers because of how she kept making it seem like i’m the only one causing pain in our friendship. like what in the manipulation and i’m so dumb to have just stayed the same after three years.

The first campaign I ran of 5e I had a character who was an old campaigner, an almost retired city guard who'd fought through most of the big wars, and the fact is that the Tunnel Fighter fighting style was absolutely perfect for him, especially once he'd picked up Polearm Master and Sentinel, since it captured that feeling of the spearman holding the line absolutely perfectly.
With my GM hat on, an attack that I get to trigger isn't an attack that a player gets, so I was never particularly bothered by it as far as balance was concerned which means I was genuinely sad when WotC flinched because of the "infinite AoOs are OP!!!" hysteria and the style never went into publication: there is in fact a concept that it's capturing that I'd like to see in play.
So I personally would like Tunnel Fighter fighting style, or something similar, to come back into the game. Any half-aware GM can easily make sure that it's mostly a fluff feature and it's a kind of fluff that's worth capturing.

I've had some thoughts about what an extremely high-dimensional world could be like, and have found some interesting conclusions that i'd like to share :P
For all examples a block will be considered 1m wide for simplicity.
The most interesting thing i've found is that even a single hypercubic block in 1'000'001 dimensions is absolutely enormous. The reason for specifically choosing 1'000'001D is so each surface of it is a 1'000'000D cube.
For any cube of dimension n (and width 1 on all axes), the longest diagonal will have length sqrt(n). This means that a 1'000'000D block will have a longest diagonal length of 1'000m. Taking the trip from one corner to the opposite would take 1'000 times longer than travelling to any of the nearest corners.
Not only is that absurdly long to travel effectively 1 block, but the path also gets incredibly narrow at each end. For example, if you're travelling on a block in midair from the center to one corner, there will initially be 500m to walk, and 0.5m to every ridge (end of the block, where you can fall off). Assuming you walk in a perfectly straight line, these reduce at relatively the same rate (same % difference). So after travelling 99% of the way to the corner, there's 5m to go, yet you're just 0.05m from falling off every adjacent ridge (of which there are 1'000'000).
And this next part is where the madness begins.
Q: How many planes of rotation exist in 1'000'001D?
A: 500'000'500'000 (generally (n-1)*(n)/2 for n dimensions)
This means that if you wanted to actually stand up in this world, you'd have to control your movements in all 500'000'500'000 planes of rotation to stay stable. This may not be as bad as having one leg for every lower-most corner of a hypercubical-ish body though, as that would require approx. 9.9*(10^301'029) legs, which requires 301'030 digits (about 167 pages) to represent in decimal. (generally 2^(n-1) legs)
I'm thinking it could be possible to make a terminal game out of this, here's an idea for some gameplay:

I am having a hard time comprehending what trigonometric function are actually saying about the triangle. I get that in a unit circle sin and cos represent the lengths of the sides of the triangle in y and x coordinates respectively.
But what about in an arbitrarily sized right triangle? What does sin/cos/tan actually represent? Lengths of sides? Angles? Coordinates from an origin? I understand how to get the lengths of other sides from an angle and a single side using algebra, but what is the trig function actually representing? I am finding it impossible to do my work because I find this so confusing.

Backstory: my mom went to a "board game party" with some friends she met at church and they played 5e. She had no idea that was dnd until i figured it out trying to piece together her excitement of what happened. That dm did a 1 shot and left them wanting more, i volunteered to dm for them.

- an action reference sheet. Preferably printer friendly. They struggled with remembering what they could do on their turn. I saw a really neat one posted here last week, it would be really cool if there is something like it but with some fillable slots for their specific actions per their class like writing in their attack under action and twf attack under bonus action. - and honestly anything else you guys have had success with teaching new players. They have literally 2 sessions of experience. And just got to level 2.

I (19f) have known that I was queer to some point since I was in 8th grade. At first I just identified as bisexual but the summer before my senior year I realized I was a lesbian. Since then, I’ve talked to a few different people but nothing has actually come out of it. The first was the girl who had helped me figure out my sexuality. I hung out with her all of the time. We weren’t official, but we had already basically started treating each other like partners. I very quickly caught myself falling for them. B made me feel beautiful and loved in a way I haven’t in years. Then today, B texted me and told me that they couldn’t be in a relationship at the moment. I don’t hold it against them at all. Life happens and shit gets in the way, and there’s nothing we can do about that. But it still hurts. I can’t help but compare what’s happening now to the last two girls I talked to. I’m not a very physically attractive person and I’m aware of that. My roommate, C, recently got a kitten. All was fine until C asked me to keep my door shut as the kitten likes to come in my room. I know this sounds edgy and a common thing you hear from a teenager like me but I think I genuinely don't like my mom.
Even though she shows me support, she does negative stuff twice as much. Yells at me for no reason, points out everything I do wrong, gets mad at me for no reason, has said that I'm faking my mental health being bad, has gotten mad at me for being sad and a lot more stuff. She knows my mental health is bad to the point where sometimes all I do is stay in bed and cry for a week or two but she continues to do stuff that make me feel the way that makes me act like that.
I have talked to her about trying to get a therapist so I can talk to someone. The first few times she just yelled at me and got mad, at the end she did agree and decided to talk to my dad about it. My mother even said once "do you want me to take your sister, leave and stay somewhere else for a bit?" In a somewhat mad but sad tone I did cry harder and told her no since I don't want to leave my 3 year old sister away from her father for like a month or two. I genuinely didn't have a problem with her leaving though, she's already threatened me to leave if "I keep acting the way I am"
I dont know what to do. Most of the time I want to cry and just find someone to talk to but I can't, I have been affected by my mother's action and responses from when I try to open up to her. I can't open up to people without thinking I'm trying to seek attention or just feel like I'm lying even though I know I'm not. I already lock myself in my room all day as a habit/trauma response and don't talk to anyone other than my friends.
My mother has helped me a lot in my childhood but has done the same amount of damage as other people have, she didn't help me get an actual childhood. I know I will break contact with her when I'll move out and I don't think I will have that much of a problem. I don't know how to fix my relationship with my mother and I don't think I can. I have some photos I took with various colours (but with light makeup on so going to retake another time without). And I feel a little lost trying to figure out what I’m supposed to be looking for that would indicate something is a “good” colour for me or not.
Warm reds, for example, which I’ve been told is “my colour”, when looking through the camera lens, there is a lot of increased contrast and more texture. Is the increased contrast an indicator because it’s adding clarity? What if there’s an unappealing amount (with lots of exposure) - does that mean it’s not a “good” colour?
I never thought colours could be so overwhelming. 🥲

what would be the best way to fix this ? Schengen handbook prohibit 2 valid visa on the same passport which means i can not simply just apply for a new visa, do i have to revoke the 1st visa ?
