2023.03.21 01:53 Current_Lettuce_6141 What should I do?
In July, I turn 1 year with CVS. I’ve heard that if you use your vacation hours before you quit, you pay back the company the vacation hours that I used. Which is insane to me…That shows me how this company is not worth working for. I’m planning to leave the company after my one year mark and use all my vacation hours before I hit my year mark so I can dip. LOL
Honestly I don’t think I could last another year here…hahaha. Plus, the city I live at doesn’t have a lot of opportunities for the same wage I currently have. So I feel stuck :/

2023.03.21 01:52 Idahoroaminggnome You can get a Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 from Boost Mobile for about $25 after Cashback
Yes, it's the 4GB RAM version, and no, it's not likely to ever get fully unlocked, but I saw a comment the other day that said it's unlocked enough to use Tmo or Att sims. I'm hoping the Project Genesis sim works in it too... Does anyone know for sure?
Phone is $9.99 + 1 month of the $40 plan = $50 + local sales tax on the $9.99. After receiving it/activating the SIM, login and change your payment method to a Privacy.com or Virtual Card Number (Citi offers it for their Mastercards) with a spend limit of $2. That will prevent them from auto-renewing your service, and is quicker and easier than trying to chat/talk to them to get AutoPay disabled.
TopCashback is offering $26.25 cash back for new Boost customeline purchases. I got in on the $50 refurbished iPhone XR deal last month and the cash back is already available to withdraw, so Boost pays out fairly quick.
Steps: Disable any AdGuard/AdBlocking Extensions, VPNs, PiHoles, or Router level Cookie/Adblocking > Topcashback Website > Boost Mobile cash back link > Boost Mobile website > Add phone > Select $40 plan > Checkout... I'd avoid using PayPal to pay, bc I'm not sure if you can remove/change PayPal as your default payment method or not, which might prevent your from using new card number to prevent autopay from going through.

2023.03.21 01:52 Anglicanpolitics123 Pope Francis is complicated(Part 1). The Pope and his approach and record on women's issues during his clerical career.
Last week I did a series of posts titled "Pope Francis is saying nothing new". This week I thought I'd do a series of posts called "Pope Francis is complicated". Basically showing that he's a very complex man in terms of his record and his views on various issues don't fit neatly into any spectrum. Which is often why some people see him as "confusing". They might try to map him unto an ideological box that he's not interested in fitting into(even though generally he has a left of centre view on things). The first topic I want to tackle for this series is Pope Francis's views and approaches on women's issues. Here we see a mixed and complex approach both in the Church and the culture at large. Here are examples.
(1)Cardinal Bergoglio's approach to women's issues in Argentina and Latin America - Before he was Pope Francis he was Jorge Mario Bergoglio. And as Cardinal Bergoglio of Argentina who led the Argentine Catholic Bishops Conference as well as participated in the Latin American Bishops Conferences women's issues were topics that he addressed in the region. On the one hand, he maintained a very strong doctrinal conservatism on reproductive topics such as contraception and abortion, leading to major clashes with President's Nestor and Cristina Kirchner. Each time the topic of Abortion legalisation in Argentina was brought up, he would oppose it, using very strident language to make his stance clear. At one point he said "defend the unborn unto death, even if they persecute or kill you". He similarly maintain the traditional doctrinal opposition to contraception. This would lead Cristina Kirchner to condemn his stances as "medieval".
- In contrast to his doctrinal conservatism on reproductive topics, Cardinal Bergoglio had a "liberal" or "progressive" perspective on pastoral and economic issues that affected women. As the "Bishop of the Slums" he advocated for social justice for working class women as well as single mothers who lived in the slums under the poverty line. This would make him fairly popular among low income women. When it came to the Latin American Bishops Conferences such as the Aparecida Conference he made a specific point to condemn what he saw as the negative impact systems of neoliberal capitalism had on poor, indigenous and black women in Latin America and advocate for economic justice for these groups, calling their plight a "double discrimination". In addition he defended single women who had children out of wedlock from the condemnations and judgementalism of many in society, particularly those in religious circles. He condemned clerics who excluded these women calling them "hypocrites".
(2)Pope Francis and women's issues in society globally - Since time being elected Pope in 2013, his position on women's issue in society has largely mirrored the stance that he took when he was Cardinal Bergoglio, with some differences and adaptations. He has maintained his staunch opposition and criticism of abortion saying its like "hiring a hitman" in some of his statements, saying it "violates the hypocratic oath" in other statements and also saying it is a "crime" in many others in keeping with his traditional stance on this topic. Francis has not spoken as much on contraception though on both and many reproductive issues he has maintain is doctrinal conservatism.
- When it comes to other issues just like when he was a Cardinal in Argentina, he has sought to have an expanded focus on economic injustice against women globally whether through lack of job oppurtunities, lack of maternity leave, or the gender wage gap which he has denounced. He has also expanded a major focus on the impact of violence against women in many of his addresses, particularly in his denunciations and campaigns against the impact of femicide in Latin America. In his text Amoris Laetitia he outlines this by stating "I would like to stress the fact that, even though significant advances have been made in the recognition of women's rights and their participation in public life, in some countries much remains to be done to promote these rights. Unacceptable customs still need to be eliminated. I think particularly of the shameful ill-treatment to which women are sometimes subjected, domestic violence and various forms of enslavement which, rather than a show of masculine power, are craven acts of cowardice. The verbal, physical and sexual violence that women endure in some marriages contradicts the very nature of the conjugal union. I think of the reprehensible genital mutilation of women practiced in some cultures, but also of their lack of equal access to dignified work and roles in decisions making"(Amoris Laetitia, prg 54)
- An interesting area where Francis as Pope has come together with women's activists, particularly ones in the developing world, is on the issues of land and environmentalism. Dubbed "ecofeminists", they see a connection between exploitation of land and the degradation of the environment with women's exploitation. This of course connects with the Pontiffs own focus on the environment and poverty. Particular figures include Vandana Shiva of India in terms of her major campaigns on seeding policy and its negative impact on land, workers and the poor and Berta Caceres of Central America, the late indigenous female rights activist. Both were connected to Pope Francis via his "world meeting of popular movements". The Pope and these third world feminist groups and leaders have allied in many instances over issues such as land rights, the protection of the environment and economic justice.
(3)Pope Francis and women's issues in the church - Just like issues that affect women in society, Pope Francis's positions on issues that affect women in the Catholic Church's walls are mixed. On the one had he has maintained a conservative commitment to the 2000 year old doctrine, reaffirmed by Pope John Paul II, that women cannot be ordained to the priesthood. In 2016 he stated definitively that the door is "closed" and stated that John Paul II made a final statement on that topic.
- On the other hand Pope Francis has opened up the possibility of women's positions in the diaconate of the Catholic Church, and also the dicasteries of the Vatican. Dicasteries are Vatican departments, equivalent to departments of the federal government of the United States(like department of defense, education, etc). The discasteries, just like the departments of the federal government, help implement and set Vatican social and global policies. The Pope has expanded the roles of women in areas such as the Dicastery of Bishops(the department that selects Bishops) the Secretariate of State(the department that sets Vatican foreign policy) the Congregation of the Doctirne of the Faithful(the department that helps set Vatican doctrine and Catholic teaching) and the Vatican's judicial system.
(4)Pope Francis's attitude to feminism and interactions with feminists - The current Pope's attitude to feminism has evolved over the years. Before he has a overall negative opinion of feminism stating for example "What I would like to add is that feminism as a unique philosophy, does not do any favors to those that it claims to represent, for it puts women on the level of a vindictive battle, and a woman is much more than that. The feminist campaign of the 20s achieved what they wanted and it is over, but a constant feminist philosophy does not give women the dignity that they deserve. As a caricature, I would say that it runs the risk of becoming chauvinism with skirts"(On Heaven and Earth, pg 104)
- Now the above was Cardinal Bergoglio in Argentina, speaking with his best friend the Rabbi Skorka on issues of faith and culture. Since his time becoming Pope, Francis has somewhat expanded his view on feminism. He stated for instance "There are those who believe that many of today's problems have arisen because of feminine emancipation. This argument, however is not valid; it is false, untrue, a form of male chauvinism. The equal dignity of men and women makes us rejoice to see old forms of discrimination disappear, and within families there is a growing reciprocity. If certain forms of feminism have arisen which we must consider inadequate, we must nonetheless see in the women's movement the working of the Spirit for a clearer recognition of the dignity and rights of women"(Amoris Laetitia, prg 54)
- Even while Pope Francis was Cardinal Bergoglio of Argentina and held the negative views that he had back then about feminism, he had an interesting relationship with feminist leaders. One prominent feminist he was close to was Esther Ballestrino. Before Jorge Mario Bergoglio became a priest, he studied to be a scientist and Esther was his teacher. Esther was a Marxist, an atheist as well as a feminist. Bergoglio was none of those, yet they became best friends. During Argentina's Dirty War under the right wing dictatorship where thousands were murdered or disappeared, Bergoglio would often times smuggle Esther's books into his seminaries so that she would be saved from investigation from the authorities. Ultimately though they ended up hunting and killing Esther despite his efforts. Bergoglio was able to behind the seens though save her daughter Ana Maria Careaga(who would continue her mother's human rights and feminist work) and he did the same for other dissident and feminist leaders behind the scenes. Bergoglio remained silent about the people he saved, including those feminist leaders for over 3 decades to the point where they did not know. So ironically enough, when they were battling him on issues like reproductive issues, they had no idea he's part of the reason they were alive. It literally only when he became Pope Francis 30 years later that he explained fully what happened. In the middle of that time period it is said that he would often visit Esther's grave and said she helped form his views on social issues.
- One of Argentina's prominent presidents and feminist icons was Cristina Kirchner, the wife of Nestor Kirchner. Centre left leaders, they were a power couple in Argentine politics, similar to the Clintons in America. Cardinal Bergoglio would have major clashes with the Kirchners, especially Cristina who became president after her husband died. They would clash on social, economic, cultural and constitutional issues. As a "feminist" political leader Cristina Kirchner is obviously going to be to the left of Bergoglio on issues like abortion and contraception(hence my mention of her stating his opinions on that matter were "medieval"). And yet paradoxically this socially conservative cleric was to the left of a centre left feminist president when it came to economic issues that affect the poor and women. And his economic critiques of Kirchner really hurt her politically. Because even though poor women in the Argentine slums disagreed with Bergoglio's views on reproductive issues, they agreed with his economic criticism and saw him as having more credibility. It basically became a Bernie Sanders/Hillary Clinton situation. They would also clash on many issues ranging from the Dirty Wars, to Gay Marriage, to issue of accountability over the 1994 Buenos Aires bombings. And the public would sway back and forth between supporting Kirchner or Bergoglio depending on the topic. Eventually after Pope Francis become elected in 2013 the two reconciled because he now became the most popular Argentine globally at the moment.
So basically as I outline above....Pope Francis's views and record on women's issues is...complex. He has both conservative and progressive views on issues affecting women that's influenced by both Catholic Social Teaching as well as his own experiences, and he has evolved his view on those topics over the years.

2023.03.21 01:49 OkRiver5572 Porting a mortgage after income drop
I have a mortgage for $232 k with my ex spouse from First National that originated in October 2021. Both our names are on the mortgage and title, but the qualifying income was all mine. We have agreed that my ex will live in the house and my former in-laws will buy me out.
I earned ~$60-64k for the years up to 2021, then voluntarily changed to part-time work within my union, earning just $44k in 2022. (It sounds wild, but this budget is absolutely fine for me, I'm relentlessly financially disciplined and easily saved 50% of my income for the downpayment while renting.)
Is there any world in which a lender would let me port this mortgage to a new home under my name? Or can only I hope to qualify for 3 or 4x $44k?
Current mortgage: $232 k, 30 year (28.5 years left), variable prime -1
Purchase budget: $330-350k (Windsor area)
Downpayment available: $150- 200k
Also of note, my work location is in Toronto. If I could port my existing mortgage, I would continue working as I am now, two days a week in the city with a night on my mom’s couch. If I got a new mortgage, I could go back to working full time and using the house as a cottage on weekends and holidays for a few years as I pay down the mortgage (or build savings depending on prepayment privileges). It’s not ideal, but I could do it no problem. Just worry it will spook the bank. Owning housing has always been a huge priority for me since I was a child. I’m in the market whether it’s up, down, sideways or costs a kidney, it’s just how I’m wired. I’m open to b lenders, whatever. (Hi Canadahousing! Put me in the screenshot!)

I’m looking for someone to create a marketing campaign for me. I’m paying $20 base pay regardless of the outcome and $1 per sale closed for lawn mowing/landscaping for the life of the business.
I am trying to start a lawn mowing business in Houston TX but I can’t get that many clients.
Especially if you live overseas, like the Philippines, if successful, you will never have to work much again. Realistically with myself being a 1 man ship, 35 lawns a week or biweekly is realistic for me. So that’s $35 USD every week or biweekly until I leave the business which I could be doing for the next 20 years.
So $36,000 USD over 20 years is possible.
I’m aiming for something higher, 7 employees is my short term goal, but I might try to have 100 employees. With a 2.2 million Houston metro with middle wealth suburbs, 50 employees isn’t crazy.
If I end up being booked myself 35 lawns a week, expect about $35 a week/biweekly
With 7 employees averaging 35 lawns, that’s 245 lawns or $245/week during mowing season for the life of the company.
If you’re an great marketer and the planets align, $1,750 a week is possible. (50 employees, $35 per week per employee).
My task is create a marketing campaign, and if it’s successful, get $1 for every sale closed and repeat customer.
I’m open to anyone bidding, I pay $10 up front and $10 upon completion to who I accept the deal with.

2023.03.21 01:48 GoofusMcGhee Anyone played a more Traveller-like universe? I'm not always in the mood for lonely, isolated settlements...
After playing my first try-it-out Starforged campaign for a while, I've thought about what I want to change for my next campaign.
Chiefly, I don't like how empty the stock SF universe is. So many worlds with dozens of people living in space suits in toxic atmospheres under ineffectual governments. I get it - that's the setting - but I don't always want to spend the evening in a "lonely future" were "settlements like scattered and often isolated". Real life's grim enough LOL
I'm thinking of doubling-down on
my original Truths and making the Terminus a true "Classic Traveler" Imperium kind of place. I'm planning to use Classic Traveler (Book 3) to generate a sector map. I still plan to still use some of the settlement, faction, etc. oracles.
In the Terminus, there is an extensive network of passages - nearly every world is connected and these routes create bottlenecks and trade routes. It's Set a Course in the Terminus, but once you head into the Outlands, you're in uncharted/Undertake an Expedition territory.
To borrow a D&D metaphor, the Terminus will be like the city: ordered, full of politics and factions, and an excellent base. The (Outlands, Expanse, Void) are the "wilderness" where one might find "dungeons".
I can't think of why the game mechanics would break using this approach? I'm sure some oracle answers will need to be adjusted. Just curious of anyone has done something like this.
(I'm aware of SWN but I'm more familiar with CT).

2023.03.21 01:48 Anglicanpolitics123 Pope Francis is complicated(Part 1).

2023.03.21 01:46 ATRomanNOBO “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand described by WallStreetBets
2023.03.21 01:45 Fair-Claim-7971 my (18f) boyfriend (20m) says that i'm controlling and abusive HELP
to give a little back story, me and him started dating in 2020 (i was 15, he was 17). 3 months in, my mom got sick, basically paralyzed from brain cancer and he moved in to help. something that was supposed to be temporary, ended up being permanent and now we've been living together for 2 1/2 years. he watched me grieve my mom who i lost at 16 and on top of it i suffer with bipolar 1 and bpd, sp he's watched me go through that too.
6 months into him living with me, we were fighting every single day. sometimes over stupid things and sometimes over me grieving my mom and feeling like he wasn't there for me. it would get better and then it would get bad again. we've been boiling over since August last year. i went in a manic episode and stopped taking my meds and day by day he was getting more and more tired of me.
last week, he screamed at me that he feels trapped and controlled because i have "taken him away from all of his friends" but he leaves out the part where HE was the one that would talk shit about them constantly and MADE it a problem in our relationship (would tell me they talk shit about me). he does this with a lot of things where he completely leaves out his part leading up to my actions. he then told me he needs to think on the relationship. then, that night, he left to go to our friends house because apparently he was overwhelmed and stressed because i was crying about us breaking up. he told me that we should both think about what we want and that night, i did. i cried and cried until i felt my heart collapse and made a whole spreadsheet on how we could do better. do you know what he did? ignored my texts all night and slept. oh and let's not forget the fact that i set a boundary that i don't want him to hang out with him alone because WE HAD A THREESOME WITH HIM AND HE EXPRESSED THAT HE WANTED TO SLEEP WITH HIM ALONE.
it's also important to mention that i am the only one making money right now, he has no job, and no license. he says he feels controlled, but how would you like more freedom? i take him everywhere. we go on drives everyday, wherever he wants to go. i am the only one paying rent, he doesn't have to do anything except find a job and that's all i've asked of him.
i feel like i'm going crazy. i know i can be a little controlling but like that? i don't think so. i'm not abusive either. i don't manipulate. and i'm not saying i haven't done bad things in this relationship, but his part is being completely left out of it. i feel like he's getting more and more annoyed with me everyday and i feel like a burden in MY OWN HOUSE. him and the friend he left with were going to have a sleepover last weekend. i told him i would rather have him for the weekend and that i don't feel comfortable with him staying the night. he starts yelling that he doesn't need my permission and he's "going to hang out with his friend" which i thought was funny because he's talked HEINOUS shit about him. he then went on to call me controlling and isolating. my other problem with this is i am the only one with a car, the friend lives about an hour away, and he doesn't have a job so no gas money.
i also feel like i'm being gaslit. i feel like my bad actions were due to me literally losing my mom, having to watch her deteriorate in front of me for 8 months, my awful mental health, and the book of trauma i've endured. they're not excusable by any means but i'm just not going to be told that i'm abusive for it. i feel as though i deserve some grace here, or am i also crazy for that? i even told him that and he tells me "all i've given you is grace" but the "grace" he gives me is fighting with me and then when i try to get my side out, he cuts me off and tells me to drop it and then we don't really talk about it. i feel like i can't talk to him. every time i get upset he tells me that i'm "going around in circles" and "the conversation is not going productively." i know i can be harsh with my words and i know i can get jumbled and unstable but do i really need to be told that in a time where i need him the most? i feel like i am just screaming for him to LISTEN TO ME and instead i just get a dead stare.
i just don't understand because things weren't always like this. yes, we had our really terrible moments but i thought we were coming out stronger. yes, these last few months i have been a bad girlfriend, but he's been a bad boyfriend too. he told me that we shouldn't have started dating and my heart fucking shattered. i am the only one who's confident in us, at least that's what it feels like. i don't know why he gets so annoyed with me. i think my conversation is pleasant, i'm smart, i'm funny, i'm kind, i'm passionate in every single thing i do, i care so much about people (even to the point where random strangers feel comfortable talking to me about their divorces), i'm incredibly helpful, and on top of all of that, i'm beautiful.
why is he acting like this and how do i fix it?
i know i'm young and a lot of you are thinking "just break up with him, you have your whole life"- i know that. but this is what i want at the moment so that's what i'm going to try.
also: there is so much more to the story so if you have questions, i'll reply with answers

2023.03.21 01:44 No_Nefariousness7909 To people feeling insecure
Here’s a few reasons/stories to keep you from ever being insecure:
- You will always win at hide and seek. Literally nothing else matters because you will always be the one person who fit somewhere that everyone else couldn’t and where no one expected someone to fit.
- If hypothetically you were tall in another life, we would literally rule the world. We just had to be made short to give other people a chance to being just as cool. Plus short people can get away with being way more rude to people but still passing as funny, like if you were tall and made that joke people would be real afraid of you.
- You can always appear taller. Especially for girls, heels are an option. And platform shoes totally are too. The rest of the world can’t fake being short, but you can totally fake being tall.
- Short people are way more likely to live longer. I’m not sure the science behind it but I know it’s true. Your less likely to have back and knee problems, you’ll be fit and active for a longer period of time when you get old, and your way less likely to break a bone because your closer to the ground.
- Shorter people are way more athletic. Because we’re closer to the ground our center of gravity is lower allowing our balance to be top notch and our stability to be inherited and not learned as you grow up if that makes since.
- You can fit in so many places. Trains. Airplanes. The dog cage. Bro when I tell you I have spent the night in the strangest places that my tall friends could never dream of, it really should be a book. It is so much easier to just be confortable plus you’re very rarely going to be a pain to bring around because you just fill in the extra space that couldn’t be used by those taller people.
- Food and money. Shorter people, typically, eat way less meaning that you’re going to save way more money throughout life because you’re not waisting it on filling up your whole body with nutrients. One quick snack and you’re good for a few more hours unlike all those other tall kids.
- Spunky. Bro just stop caring. If you don’t make it your personality people learn to get over it real fast. And if they don’t, well that’s why you’re an ankle biter waiting for Achilles heel. It’s not an offense to be one, it’s actually just a strategy for one of the most well known weaknesses in history. Here’s a story more for girls to enjoy but also could be for boys: I have this family friend who is about 5’. She loved it. One time, before she was married and she was in high school she saw this really cute and but tall dude at a bar. So she took a bar stool, dragged it up next to him, stood on it, and offered her hand to shake saying “I’m (name).”
- So, it’s 100% confidence. You can ignore your height, which I’m totally guilty of doing. Or you can learn about all the amazing and totally star striking celebrities who are your height or even shorter and take on that kind of confidence. Have you ever met a short confident person? Cuz they’re probably the best people you ever will meet.
