Today I got the call that our daughter's number was pulled for a lottery Charter School and she has a spot for first grade. I am beyond ecstatic because:

1. The school has a uniform policy. She gets made fun of for wearing the same clothes by other students. They are ratty, stained, and have holes, but it is what she is comfortable in. She only wears about 3 rotating outfits due to sensory issues. She has said she is sad that people make fun of her, but she doesn't want to quit wearing the same clothes. My hope is that a uniform will help her fit in, reduce clothing meltdowns, and help make laundering clothes a less frequent requirement.
2. They have higher testing scores and I am assuming academic standards. We have noticed that she often gets bored and becomes destructive and disrespectful. I know her kindergarten teacher worked really hard with her on not taking away from others' ability to learn. She loves learning new things and we are hoping that a more challenging curriculum will help with some of her behaviors.
3. The new charter school has a great reputation and high satisfaction among families. I really struggled to get her school administrators to follow through on things we discussed. Some things never came to fruition. The school also told me despite her dx, she would never qualify for any services since she was doing okay academically.
4. The school district at the new school is large and has more resources available to students and families.

I am worried because she doesn't do well with change. We know she will struggle with 1st grade regardless because she won't have the same teacher or all the same kids in her class. However, she came home crying today because she was going to miss seeing her kindergarten teacher and a few of her friends. She has also stated that she doesn't want to change schools. But she also comes home from school angry and aggressive from masking. I want to give her one more year in school before resorting to homeschooling because I think she could truly thrive holistically in the right environment. Her attachment to her current school makes me feel guilty for wanting to enroll her in a different school. I just need advice on what to do. Do I follow my gut or her wishes?
Also, she says wants to stop going to ABA and OT. It takes her away from school and has a combined driving time of at least 2 hours for each session. I am struggling with what she wants and how to help cultivate a future where we can all possibly struggle a little less as a family unit and individuals.

I studied genetics in college I know that's not how it works, I don't know how to tell her that things can't be cured by sure will. (She belives covid was fake and the earth is flat) They will suggest fasting for a week to cure my issues (so they can see me loose weight). I got robbed once in a lyft and the first question is what did you do to get robbed? My father is a little better. He was always supportive when I was a child, but I feel like he's chosen a woman who hates me. Like his girlfriend has said that, and she doest even know I'm gay. She keeps trying to marry me off. Trying to get cashiers, machinists or anyone to take me out when I vist. Everyone in my family is pretty anit-people of color, very religious, and don't like LGBT people. I feel like every time I talk to them there trying to radicaliz me. Like if I want to tell a story about my friends or a date, something horrible is said. Like I had a Trans friend who lost housing, and my mom was like servers her right. I feel so disconnected, and honestly feel like my family doesn't like me. How can I salvage any of these relationship? I know there difficult people but you only get one mom or dad. My grandparents might die soon, and I want to be there for them, but im finding it so hard to go back. they definitely help me when they can. I'm thinking,"I don't know why they hired me again. I've quit before (it felt like I had quit several times before but kept going back because they needed me) I really hate this job." I'm driving through Podunk, USA - It feels like my home state and I'm looking for a place to stop. I'm at a nondescript hotel, yellowed with a patina of unkempt age, and it's late. Dozens of crew laborers are sleeping on bedrolls laid upon the floor. I decide to go for a walk after pushing through an internal conflict where I feel that this may be looked upon as undesirable behavior by upper management, should it be discovered. I think to myself, "this is how I am." I walk upon a paved path and up a steep hill. As I ascend a thick, foggy mist surrounds me. At the top of the hill I look out over a valley of manicured turf, lined by trees in the distance. There are large birds down below near the tree line, darting from the trees and out of sight into the mist. Are they turkeys? Yeah, they're turkeys and they've seen me. A mob of turkeys in a broken line begin to advance upon my position. A stag and an eagle join the line and they are now getting very close, all with angry intent. I grab the nearest bird, turning it around to face the approaching wildlife while holding it's wings to it's body and thrust it forward in stabbing motions, hoping to use it as deterrent. It's a white goose and it honks with each forward thrust. This goose has talons. It seizes my pinky fingers upon each hand and tightens it's grip. I'm back at the hotel. To avoid walking over the sleeping laborers, I walk through a door. I'm sitting on a toilet, open to a room (?) where a new crew manager, who is unknown to me, lies talking with the operations manager. I'm using a lot of toilet paper and am noticed. Both look at me. I'm back with my crew that are sleeping on bedrolls upon the floor. I lie on my own bedroll. On a wall there are shoe boxes suspended and stacked with illegible names written upon them. One of them reads "girls"? I think,"We don't have any females on the crew". I get up from my bedroll. Two others (I don't know them) are waking, a young man and a woman, and are in their underwear. I follow them outside to the walkway and seat myself with the unknown man, my back to the hotel wall. There is no railing to the walkway and the unknown woman is stretching in a graceful pose upon one foot too near the walkway precipice. I want to warn her of the danger but before I can she falls. I hear her body hit below. I shout, "Call nine-one-one!" Unknown man does not react. I run into the hotel room and tell my number one guy to call nine-one-one. He dials then becomes confused and hands the phone to me saying, "I think it's children." I take the phone and ask into it, "Is this nine-one-one emergency services?" On the other end a calm, cold, knowing voice of an elderly woman speaks with glad enmity, "Do you know where you are? There are no emergency services. You will find no help here."

For context, I'm 32, he's almost 60, I live with him because he wants me to live here because pooling our resources makes it really cheap for both of us, and it's going to allow me to save up to buy us a house to live in so we're not throwing away money in rent anymore.
The only problem is I can't stand to be around him, I don't want to live with him, I don't like anything about him, we don't have anything in common, in fact we're exact opposites on basically everything. I have nothing to talk about with him, and even if I did, he's always drunk, like 'seesawing back and forth, slurring, asking toddler-level questions but not being able to understand or remember the answers' drunk, every single day, without fail. He's not violent or mean or anything so I know I shouldn't complain since it could always be worse, but it's embarrassing, I don't want to live around it, and dealing with it makes me incredibly uncomfortable, and it literally ruins my night every night that I talk to him. He starts drinking as soon as he gets home from work, or if it's his day off, he starts drinking as soon as he's done with any driving errands he has to do, so basically mid-afternoon. He has absolutely positively no interest whatsoever in quitting drinking, as we've argued about it several times and I've told him more times than I can count that I don't think of him as a person when he's drunk and that we can't really have a relationship if I can't talk to him like a human being.
I should probably explain what I mean by that; It's kinda like how he felt when he had to take care of his mom who recently died of dementia, it's like you're talking to someone's body, but their brain really isn't in there at all, they don't remember anything you say, they don't have their mental faculties, they can't process simple information, they don't understand what's going on around them, they get extremely emotional at the drop of a hat over nothing, and they tell you the same thing over and over again every night, sometimes multiple times in a row. Did I just describe my drunk dad or his mom dying of dementia? Both. It's exactly the same behavior, except he only had to go through it with his mom for a year before she passed, and I've been going through this with him every day since I started making conscious memories.
It just makes me incredibly uncomfortable and I'm only able to give short quick irritated answers that go nowhere because I don't want to talk to him in that state, and there's no reason to go anywhere with it because he's not really in there and he's not really hearing me anyway, and he's definitely not capable of having a normal conversation. Like, tonight for example; I get off work at the same time every day. I usually go to my friend's house to hang out with him after work until my dad passes out so I don't have to talk to him. Tonight, though, as usually happens at least once or twice a week, my friend was already asleep, so I went straight home. So then I have to answer the same stupid questions that I've already answered before, over and over, from my dad; "How'd you get here so early!" -'my friend was asleep' "....yeah but it's still early..." -'I got off work at the same time I always do, I just usually go hang out with him first' "Okay man well hell what's wrong?" (visibly irritated because I'm shortening this, it's a lot more repetitive in real life, but I respond trying to be as nice as possible) -'nothing's wrong, I'm just tired, I just got off work man'. "Alright. Well what's that?" -'a nintendo switch (he's seen it a million times before)' "Alright.... so what's that?" -'a game for the switch, thanks for getting it out of the mailbox for me'. And then he just shuffles off into the other room when he finally figures out I got nothing to say to him and that he wouldn't understand any of it if I did.
And I know you're probably feeling sympathetic right now, like "Well at least he's trying to have a relationship with you and he's actually trying to reach out, cut him some slack, it could be way worse" and that would be true and fair enough, but that doesn't account for the fact that every single person including myself and my mom, who left him, has asked him to stop drinking if he really wants to have a relationship with us, and he outright refuses, and so we just treat him like a stupid old fool, because he always drinks himself into a drunken stupor every single day and so that's exactly how he acts. He just gets emotional when he's drunk, and that's when he wants to reach out, and that's alright I guess, but how about reaching out when you're sober and when I can actually kinda talk to you a little bit? How about use the one brain cell you have before you start drinking and try to figure out that you're an absolute burden and an old loser who needs to get his shit together, and could've had his shit together decades ago if you'd just fucking listen to every single person around you in your entire life who tells you to stop drinking? How about rub a couple of brain cells together when you're sober and realize you're the reason that your kids are losers too because you're our role model? How about a little give and take, especially when it's for your own good? That's what a relationship is, and that's what responsible adults do. But he refuses.
We're talking about the type of person who doesn't know any of their own usernames, passwords, or even his own email address. Because he never sat down and logged into any online service for himself ever, because he can't remember what a username and password even is. So every time he needs anything, which is all the time because he's always so drunk he can't understand what the english words on the TV screen are trying to tell him, I gotta come do the whole forgot your password rigamarole for every single account he has just so I can log into it again and figure out whatever issue he's having. Last shit I want to do after working a 10 or 12 hour shift, I just want to chill. And I have to do it for him because he acts like a helpless baby, and he's drunk and dumb as hell so I mean he can't do it for himself anyway even if he did give it a try. The type of person who looks at a screen that says a simple one-sentence message and an "okay" prompt, takes five minutes to read it, and then turns to me and asks "Should I click okay?" It's just so annoying because I've told him about a million times that if he just stopped drinking and tried to practice using technology while he was sober, he would get the hang of it, and that if he made his own accounts and passwords instead of having people do it for him and tell him what they picked for him when he's drunk and forgets, that he wouldn't have any of these problems logging into stuff to begin with, because it'd be burned into his memory like it is for the rest of us normal people who do our own things for ourselves. And he says okay, but then he just never does it. In one ear and out the other. Just like when I asked him all those years ago again and again to stop drinking so we could have a decent relationship, in one ear and out the other.
We're talking about the type of person who was 100% behind and invested in Trump to the point where he even bought a few hats and regularly made ridiculous, racist, and braindead pro-republican propaganda posts on facebook. To the point where he'd get himself banned all the time and then come tell me about how he's in facebook jail again for trying to spread the truth. Or, well he used to, before I just started reacting with straight up anger and hatred towards conservatism every time anything political came up, and explained to him about a million times why it's not okay to support awful people, and now he's gone from "Trump 2020" to "well I never liked politics anyway and I suggest you stop paying attention to it or talking about it too because I'm a lot happier now that I don't". So it's like, the only victory I can get with this man, is "I give up and you should too". And that's a reflection of his entire life. He gave up a long time ago and I just want it to be over for him and for me, because that would be easier than telling him that what I really want is to just move across the country and never see or hear from him again, not buy a house where I gotta live with him and keep dealing with this shit until he dies. This doesn't even address any of our personality clashes, like how I'm quiet and he's loud, I hate dumb shit but he literally cranks up the most low-intellect brain dead dadrock unironically because that's what speaks to him, I like to read and think and he can barely read and barely think, all he wants to do is not pay taxes on his mom's inheritance that he's going to get soon and buy a boat and a truck to haul it so he can sit on the water and drink beer, all I want is to be financially responsible and pay my bills and taxes and be fucking quiet and do the right thing, and maybe raise a kid that has respect for me.
I'm angry and bitter and I've probably said some very mean things here, but it's just how I feel. I've brought up all of this to him in person several times in explicit detail, and he just doesn't have the brainpower or memory or willpower, or simply doesn't care enough, to address any of it. TLDR: My dad started drinking when he was 17 and hasn't been sober a day since, I personally think his brain is mush even when he's sober but it's especially bad when he's drunk, and he's not violent or mean or anything it's just like dealing with a slobbering toddler and it annoys the piss out of me for several reasons, and because it's my dad, I'm obligated to take care of him and even buy a house where I can take care of him and he's going to continue to annoy the piss out of me doing literally everything I hate about humanity right within my earshot and line of sight until he dies a messy death that I have to clean up. I believe there's a good person somewhere underneath the alcohol, as he's somewhat coherent when I see him in the morning before work, and he has a job so they must think he's coherent as well, but as soon as he gets home and the not-bud-light (because it's gay now) gets cracked open, the brain flies out the window and it's back to braindead loud redneck wrestling and rock music and old shit he's seen a million times that wasn't even good back in the day, and hollering for me to come take a look at it, when I literally can't even hear my own TV over his (across the house) and I hate the shit and have no interest in it anyway.

Why do the conservative parties seem to tip toe forward and try not to rock the boat?
Provincial parties control K-12 education, post-secondary education, the health sector, social services, and plenty of other things. Most of the things Canadian conservatives complain about, they can make huge sweeping changes to while they have power.
Why is education launching head first into extreme DIE measures? Why is healthcare launching head first into extremely controversial gender reassignments? Why are universities not required to support free speech? Why are the provincial human rights councils not being either eliminated or redesigned so they aren't kangaroo courts run by progressive activists?
Look at what is happening in the US in states like Florida where DIE has been eliminated by law in government institutions and a return to things like merit-based standards is being focused on again. Where kindergarten kids are no longer being exposed to confusing gender ideology by activist teachers. Where drag shows are no longer legally allowed to be performed in front of children. Maybe with the recent election, Alberta will become the first opportunity to start making some of these changes. We should expect more of the conservative parties we've put in power.

Ok so I (25M) am a wedding planner so when my sister (32F) announced she was getting married, most of our family, her included, assumed I’d help plan it for her. I initially didn’t really want to as ger wedding is right in the middle of busy season so I’d miss out on gigs that would pay but then I decided that she’s my sister and this would be a good wedding gift and would just help with the wedding stress.
She was so happy when I agreed and we started going over her plans and themes, I found some venues and we went to look at them, I took care of all of the catering so all she had to do was taste test and pick, I was also able to use my connections to get her special deals and stuff like that.
At first it was pretty smooth but as time went on it just got more and more stressful. She wouldn’t communicate with anyone and almost got her photographer to quit (I had to convince him to stay), she’d constantly change her mind on things and then get mad they were changed as I should of known she was just being indecisive and that I should have stuck with the first option.
While I was setting up the registry she told me I could have first dibs on what gift I was getting her, I looked at her confused and said that my help planning was my gift. She then said that a lot of family helped out and they are still getting gifts. I told her that other family members helped move furniture or lend me their car to pick up supplies, I was doing most of the work and was missing out on actually getting paid helping her.
She said she’s greatful for my help but that this wouldn’t really constitute a gift unless I was paying for things like her dress or the venue. And she said it didn’t matter when I brought up that my connections have literally saved her thousands when you add them up.
She’s now calling me cheap and is getting our family involved. I don’t know what she told them (they won’t tell me) but they keep saying how selfish I am to make my sister’s big day all about me.

I took some of your advice but didnt go as extreme as I think some of you were hoping I would, sorry but I can be of a people pleaser and I dont want to ruin what is supposed to be a happy moment in her life.
I put together a list of everything I had done, including all the discounts I had gotten her, I'm not sure if she knew they were discounts as I didnt say they were discounts, I was saying things like “I have been able to get you a quote of x amount from y for z”. Aswell as stating what I would normally charge for a wedding this sized. I then texted her to ask if we could get some lunch and talk.
When she arrived I showed her the list and explained that I'm not asking her to pay this but I wanted her to see how much I'm helping her and how much money I am losing by doing her wedding instead of taking on a client who would pay. At first she was shocked at the amount and accused me of lying to try and make her feel bad, I was able to show her bills from other weddings I had done before and a quick Google search showed that my prices are pretty average, she had never looked up any wedding planner or their rates bc she assumed I was always gonna do it.
She said she thought it wasnt that much as I didnt seem to be well off, I told her that while it does pay well I cant take on crazy amounts of clients since I need to give quality service and that I might not always get clients all year, plus I have a few medical expenses that can take out a large chunk.
She said I still must have some money saved up, I said I do but that I would be having to use it to cover my bills and stuff since my income is taking a hit due to taking on her wedding, after a while of insisting that some of the items on her registry arnt that expensive she relented, I wouldn't have to get her anything since I had gotten her enough discounts to qualify as a gift and that she was grateful for my help and services.
Honestly, I didnt know how much this was stressing me until that relief washed over me, I was thankful that this was over and we could continue with planning her wedding. Alright so I need some help from anyone who has the knowledge or advice –
I am currently on active duty, but I am getting medically retired soon.
My total “proposed” disability rating is 90%.
There were a few things that I was denied for and not proposed for service connection.
The biggest one of these that I would like to appeal is IBS.
To provide some context, I have been intermittently treated for IBS symptoms since 2020 but didn't receive an official clinical diagnosis until after my Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam. My C&P exam took place in January 2023, and it was in the following month, during a visit to my GI doctor, that I was formally diagnosed with IBS.
My letter from the VA states, “Service Connection for IBS and diarrhea is not proposed because the medical evidence of record fails to show that this disability has been clinically diagnosed.”
And
“The DES/VA exam, conducted on January 2023, you noted abdominal bloating, constipation, and diarrhea. The examiner noted for the claimed condition of IBS and diarrhea there is no diagnosis because there are no findings, signs or symptoms to support a diagnosis.” ----then it goes on about my treatment record and then says, “No further treatment or diagnosis of IBS or a chronic condition related to diarrhea is found in your treatment records.”
My questions are:
If I decide to submit an appeal after my military service, would documentation from my GI doctor (stating my diagnosis while I was on active duty) provide sufficient evidence for a supplemental claim?
Or is there more evidence or paperwork needed to help with my supplemental claim?
If I got my GI doctor to fill out a DBQ would that help?
So many questions and I am running out of time before I retire.

I get it, communication is key and it is good to talk about big decison making (where to live, how finances are done, how to approach parenting).
But what would you do if your spouse wanted to let their friend move into your house for 8 months to help him back on his feet (friend lost their job, couldn't find work in his state), well knowing that living issues could arise from doing this? They want to make the offer to their friend, but they put the driving decision on you to agree or disagree.
What do you do? Is bringing this up to reach out and communicate a tough decision? Or does putting you in this position take advantage of you by putting the responsibility to decide on you?
For some reason I didn't like either option of this decision: if I said "no" then I'm the reason why his friend is living out on the streets. If I said "yes" then I'm the reason he's doing better but at the sacrifice of my own privacy, access to the guest rooms/bathrooms to your house, and seeing some guy take his time getting his life together (i.e. if you'd ask him about the job hunt, he say he's not settled in yet, doesn't have meds, not adjusted enough, can't find a job that's comfortable, he set his goal at to get one at 3 month mark).
Any time I need to make a decision that would put out my husband I just don't do it, or if I'd bring it up I tell him that it's not in our best interest (e.g. My friend wanted us to take their baby in for 1 year due to issues, I told my spouse that even if I/we could be capable it would be hard for everyone involved, declined, and referred her to other services.)
I confronted my spouse on this, but the argument stands that I could have just said no in the first place. At the same time, I was given a hard decision I didn't expect in the first place. I'm at a loss.
