New scratch off tickets in pa

Hello! First time posting on the sub but my beloved GameCube is struggling and I’m not sure what love he needs to fix him.
After inserting a disc and turning the console on, I can hear that the disc is spinning but soon there is a single subtle click and the spinning stops. (The discs that I am inserting are near flawless, minimal to no scratches or fingerprints so I don’t think that’s the issue.)
The system alternates between displaying ‘No Disc Inserted’ and the “fatal” error of having to turn the console off and consulting the manual.
Though after multiple attempts of turning on and off and on and off, the GameCube will read the disc! Yay! But also…what’s going on? It seems as if the system needs to get ‘warmed up’, so to speak, and I genuinely can’t tell if I need to do something to repair the laser or the motor or maybe something else entirely? I don’t know but something’s definitely not right if it’s not reading the first time and only will read after double digit attempts.
While being tech savvy and having the tools to make my own repairs, I’ve never had to repair this system since it was gifted to me, brand new, when I was a child. So I’m not sure what repairs are needed to get my console back to reading on the first try.
Any ideas on diagnosis? I’ve tried GENTLY cleaning the laser with a Q-tip (both dry and with a drop of alcohol) before and while that helped, it didn’t fix it. I’ve read other threads on disc errors too but nothing seemed to be my exact scenario so I thought I’d post for feedback.

Wanted to share just for public information and crawling later. Maybe this will help someone else.
I have been using the SCR3310 v2.0 with my 2022 Macbook Pro M1 for about a year now with no issues. This is the same card reader I used with my 2013 Macbook Pro before finally making the upgrade last year.
Long story short, I got a new smartcard and needed to update the certificates. Same ol' same ol'. Download new certs, manually trust the root certificates, and it should be good to go. Problem was, one of the sites I frequent wouldn't load on Google Chrome (though it would on Safari).
I did some research and a "recommendation" was to download the new drivers. So that's what I did. Driver was from 2021 (and the company doesn't archive old drivers). Completely unusable at that point.
As an IT, I exhausted my expertise so I contacted Apple Support and was upgraded to a senior tech. We tried everything aside from a factory reset. Safe mode, advanced settings and diagnostics, the whole nine yards. If I uninstalled the driver, Macbook was unable to see the smartcard reader at all. With the driver installed, it would see the reader, but would not detect a card. Apple eventually said there was nothing else they could do and suggested I contact the manufacturer.
The manufacturer was of little help and started off by saying, "The SCR3310 v2.0 does not and never has worked with the new M1s or newer versions of macOS." He went as far as saying he has one himself. I told him I used it fine on my old mac, that it STILL works on my old mac (since they tried suggesting it was a faulty reader), and that I had been using it with the M1 for a year. He seemed interested, but had no way forward for me.
He asked I reach back out if the factory reset worked. So, I spent a few hours uploading everything I needed to iCloud (Time Machine apparently doesn't do the 24 hour local system snapshot I thought it did - so that proved to be fruitless). Once iCloud was done, and all my passwords were stored in a Password Manager, I did an options boot (shutdown, start up holding power), and erased the disk, then downloaded macOS Ventura.
During the initial setup, I transferred everything from my other Macbook Pro (system to system transfer - which took forever and a day).. After the initial set up and a quick redownload of my certs and manually trusting the root certificates, everything works again. The Google Chrome error with the one site still exists, (something about security protocol error), but I can access it on Safari like I said.
Anyway. Just wanted to post this for internet knowledge. I doubt this will help many, but it resolved my issue. The smartcard I was using was a "DoD CAC". Root Certs 3,4,5, and 6. All from the militaryCAC website.

Hi everyone. So this is about my own parents. So in 2021 our old landlords evicted us because “they wanted to move into the house” they didnt and rented it for double the price. Anyways so since my parents had a second house and we exhausted out efforts to find a place within budget they offered us to live in the first house. First 6 months was free to get us back on our feet and then wed pay rent. Originally they wanted $700 plus power but we negotiated to $1000 including power because they didnt want to change it from their name anyways. Power was only $150 a month so a deal for them. The other deal was anything we broke we replaced. Oh and my husbands mother wasn’t allowed on property due to some bad blood. Everything was fine til they suddenly raised rent to $1000 plus power. Ok. Not terrible but we can manage. Recently my parents stopped by for a surprise visit. And now my mother in tarring into me for not wiping my kids fingerprints off stuff, not dusting, and not sweeping. Ill be honest that the first two we dont do as much as we should. But the sweeping we do constantly as both my kids are autistic with learning disabilities and don’t understand when we try to tell them not to throw food on the floor. Everything else was perfect, dishes done, no clutter on the floor, etc. we replaced their 10 year old coffee machine that suddenly broke, bot our fault but whatever. Their 33 year old well pump broke, they did replace that themselves because they knew it was old. Then their lawn mower battery died, shocker because it was also old. Were waiting til payday to afford to get a new one and theyre upset about us “never replacing anything.” We have the option to buy the house whenever we can quilify for a mortgage and we plan to. But theyre being so…idk. .. am I actually the entitled parent? Because theyre now saying i am.

So, I’m kind of new in the recovery process. I am the oldest, younger GC brother is 4 years younger. Mom is the narc parent. Since I’ve been on this recent recovery period all these memories keep flooding back. I’ve been in a near state of constant tears for a few weeks. (I read that’s normal, but I’m also possibly menopausal-Yay! /s). I currently live with nmom, but have plans to get out within a month or so. Anyways, this one memory just keeps popping up and it won’t go away and I’m kind of ruminating on it, so I’m hoping that speaking it out into the universe gets it out of my head. In 1983, when I was 10 years old, I wanted this new contraption called an “Epilady” for Christmas. It was basically this device that ripped all your hairs out by the root and was supposed to mean, they wouldn’t come back. It was quite painful. I got it for Christmas. When I opened it up, it had hairs in it. I asked why my Epilady had hairs in it and my mom said she had tried it out. So, my mom couldn’t wait until I got and opened and used my present to ASK ME if she could try it, she used my CHRISTMAS PRESENT before I got it AND DIDN’T bother to clean it, essentially giving me a used present and DIDN’T see anything wrong with this. About a month after I got it, I went to use it and it was in pieces. I took it to my mom to show it was in pieces. My younger brother admitted that he had gone IN MY PERSONAL BATHROOM, opened the drawers, dug around and found it, then TOOK IT APART TO SEE HOW IT WORKED and couldn’t remember how to put it back together. He received NO CONSEQUENCES and I was told to keep my stuff where my brother couldn’t get to it. Still pisses me off, apparently.

Hitting the road today. I’ve been away from home since my birthday. Making a stop up North to visit my lovely friend and her new man before I head home on Sunday. I love the bus ride from Bellingham to Seattle; I equally love the Ride from Seattle to Olympia. I like to listen to music and think about nothing. It makes me feel the way that I feel in airports…. I exist, but barely. No one knows me. No one know about my messes or my past. For a few hours I don’t feel quite so heavy. Anyway, I’m packed up and I’m dressed. Makeup is on and my hair is still wet. It’s going to be wet for awhile. I can hear the babies squeaking like little dinosaurs in the other room. #1 and I snuggled, watched some weird dinosaur movie on Netflix and ate popcorn while bestie did homework last night. #1 and I were playing a game where we had to whisper because the dinosaurs were going to eat us. I loved it. It made my mommy heart not hurt so bad.
Bestie gave me a hug after she finished her homework “…thank you for being my best friend; tonight I realized I really, really have a best friend and it made me so happy”. Hurt girls never feel truly safe no matter how intensely they love.
Earlier in the week other bestie had a panic attack when she thought I might not make the trek up north. I haven’t been feeling well and my shoulder pain is a 10. I considered not going but when I heard the panic in her voice I knew that she needed me to meet this guy. I bought the tickets and told her I’d be there on Saturday night. She cried with relief when I told her and it reminded me that hurt girls don’t trust other people’s word.
I think this is probably why I have such ferocious bonds with these women. Sometimes I think they like me a little too much. I’m not quite sure what they like about me but I won’t question it too loudly lest they realize I’m not so great. I’m grateful for their unconditional love. Bestie held me until 2am while I cried last night, and then moments later we talked about how Jesus could be a schizophrenic alien and how maybe schizophrenics are the divine ones. We laughed until we cried some more; at 3am I wiped away my tears and I fell asleep with a heart that didn’t hurt quite as deeply as it did before. Sometimes I think that if this is the lasting love that was set apart for me…. Then I am truly lucky. I never imagined I’d have such precious women in my life.
In other news, my mama heart is broken. My own #1 is struggling deeply. He reminds me of me at that age and I so wish I could dig him out. He cried “mama mama mama” over and over again yesterday. It took all of my self control to not buy a ticket back to Columbus. What mother let’s her son hurt like this? Deep in my core I know he has to go through it. It occurred to me for the first time that my child might die before me and I am truly scared for his life. He called my evil ex for help. I’m grateful that my ex is kind to my son. I’m grateful that he is going to help him even though it scares me. Potato says that when my ex asks about me, he tells him he never talks to me. It reinforces the narrative that I’m a piece of shit and that’s okay because I am. I bet helping my lost boy in my absence really gives that narcissist a gigantic boner. But you know what, if my boy gets help then I don’t care what Narcissist thinks. And that’s how it is with my kids.
Chef guy told Bestie to tell me “goodbye. I’m in love with you🤪😜😝”. Which was pretty funny. He tried really hard to get my attention but I was pretty cold. (Bitter. Vindictive. Drunk. Ice Queen. Two cunt.) (I kinda like the ice Queen one though…. Makes me feel less fragile). I’m not interested in being vulnerable again. I concede. When I found out chef guy had a crush on me I was flattered, but when I look at him I think “how are you going to hurt me?”. I haven’t been dating or talking to anyone but different dudes have approached me at different times. Bellingham guy got the picture and I added his number to the graveyard. English Bus guy asked me out so many times I had to take a picture of his phone number so he would believe me when I told him I would call him. I didn’t. And I won’t. Bitter. I can’t see anyone without wondering what it feels like to have my heart broken by them. It makes my stomach churn. I’ll do it alone, thanks.
My boss has been incredibly tender and kind. I had record sales (for myself) last month and got a kudo email for some sales pitches he was cc’d in. He checks on me and asks me if I’m okay; “remember your worth”. It’s nice to be thought of and while I don’t necessarily need to be handled with satin gloves, I like that he does. Makes me feel like I’m not trash. Even though I am. (Two cunts)
When I get home, I have a lot of plans for myself and my alone time. Hopefully the ghosts are gone now. I need a bigger sketchbook, new poscas and better colored pencils. I have a lot of ideas but I’m scared that I won’t commit. I haven’t bought food in a month and I know the apartment is trashed. If sports guy from the bar texts, I’m gonna ignore him. Work Bestie and I start our routine on Monday. It will be nice to have a routine commitment. Still scouring the net for a puppie pie. I want a King Charles cavalier- I’m going to name it “sterling”, after that town in Alaska. I tried to adopt Sherman but when he attacked my feet and made me bleed I decided against it. Poor Sherman. He had been beaten his whole life. I kinda get it. I don’t want anyone fucking with me anymore either. I need to start looking for costumes for comic con. Since we will be there for the whole weekend, I can wear the vest costume on Friday and the ball gown on Saturday. Drink and draw after 8pm with that one comic book artist with Dark Horse. Something to look forward to.
Anyway, it’s time to hit the road. More later I suppose.

I have over 100 known alters. Each alter can be assigned to one or more roles (like Food intake Specialist, Trusted Memory writer, Etc.) but only be assigned to a single department (which are broad functional groups such as security, Information Technology, Web Development, etc.).
In an effort to know who’s who and what they do, and how to reach them internally I have built a database in FileMaker Pro 12 which internally we’ve called Hologram 360®.
Along with all the information specified above, the software has a picture (generated by Craiyon.com) of each alter so like a badge photo, their contact information such extension, internal IM, and primary department. Also attached to each one are preferences (favorite color, favorite kind of music, preference of mac or PC, preference of Android or iOS, do they want children or to be married, preference of Pepsi or coke, default McDonalds, chipotle, Burger King, Taco Bell, and other orders.
For departments it tracks department code (a unique 2-5 letter code that identifies the department in reports (examples include: CC=“Customer Care”, ESD=“Enterprise Security Department”, ITS=“Information Technology Services”, etc.), a friendly name which is the full name as specified in the department code examples, a queue extension (transfer code), what kind of response is that department (Direct Transfer, Ticket, Callback, Social), and whether or not the department is “public facing” or not.
Prior to this we were managing on an excel spreadsheet which got very unwieldy very quickly (try to add a new attribute like favorite color, whether or not that individual is mandated to sign in, etc. and having to then mass update that was not fun)
We can also run reports (all holograms sorted by department, show all who don’t have a photo (grouped by department), all holograms with photo grouped by department (Visual eDirectory®), etc.)
So what do you think? Do you think a database is the right solution? Would you be interested in seeing screenshots of Hologram 360®? Do you have a different solution for managing large numbers of alters efficiently?

Honestly idk how to start this off but my names Yahir and I’m a Hispanic male living in Brooklyn and I’m just looking for someone to chat with and see what type of conversation we’ll have. I’m 5’8 and weight 145 and I try to go to the gym when I’m not busy. I’m more of an introverted person when I meet new people but I do start to be more outgoing after chatting for a bit.
In my free time I like to play games mainly on pc and I play just about anything but my main games rn are ff 14 and ow2, I do have a switch that I play on mainly smash and Pokémon, I also like to watch anime and read manga I mainly just read romcom mangas if you have a recommendations do tell me. I also like to play basketball but I’m terrible at it. I have an interest in photography and film but haven’t really done much other than editing a couple short films for school. But recently I’ve been taking care of kids and plan on being either a preschool teacher or something that helps children.
Honestly I don’t really have a preference I’m just looking for someone that I can hang out with whether it’s playing games together or watch shows and talk about the most random shit.I don’t mind doing long distance but I do hope we are able to meet up one day and I don’t mind sharing pics of myself. I started a new world with the stable release of V11. System is DnD5e running absolutely no modules. No data was backed or migrated, everything is fresh with the update. I was having no issues until I tried bringing a player into one of my scenes. The background image (dungeon Alchemist export jpg) on one of my scenes disappeared and then suddenly I could no longer apply that image to the scene. I can see the image displayed in the user data, and I can even select files to apply to the background, but then nothing. I decided to rename the local file for the image, and reupload it thinking the data for the original image was corrupt. unfortunately no dice and it won't display the image still. The json files I import to apply lighting and walls to the map still appear, so I'm left with the interactable overlay and nothing else. Other jpgs have worked and been able to be applied to different scenes, but this specific image seems to be really fighting me. Have tried deleting the scene and starting from scratch, same result. Anyone have a similar experience, or know of something I haven't tried yet? Thinking I may just have to go back to v10's latest stable version but would like to avoid if possible as I'm running this off of a friend's server.

This will be my last post and I wouldn’t post or comment and most likely will only post if I ever cure myself, so I started noticing bad breathe like a while ago and my tongue keeps getting white and then producing bad breathe. I tried everything possible known to mankind so please don’t comment I should try a new supplement, but it wouldn’t go away.
I heard alot of good things about flagyl so figured I would give it a shot just a short term like 7 days but my doc prescribed me 3 times for 7 days which to me seemed like a lot so I went with 1 pill each night and it’s been few days and no changes to breathe but I have to say no bloating and amazing regular bowel movement and damn I never have pooped so much for long time, I would get bloated whenever I ate anything sugary but with flagyl that seems to have vanish away but I will just take few more days and bail on flagyl cuz I feel weak and it’s not healthy also it’s not improving my bad breathe either.
So I went to a dentist and she found few cavities, 1 root canal and most importantly she asked if I have any crown and I told her that I have one next to canine, she asked if I floss that crown and how long has it been there. At which point I replied that I floss extensively 2 times and it’s been more then 7-8 years for the crown, in short the crown has open margin meaning food and bacteria can go inside and make home and cuz it’s a crown there’s no way to take them out but to cut them open and clean the teeth and put a new crown. So all this time I will doing so many things and the culprit was just in my mouth all the time, now whenever I floss I smell and my god that crown smells horrible, in short if you have any crown go to dentist and ask if they can see open margin in the crown.
So I’m looking at few cavities, 1 root canal with crown, replace the old crown with new one, everything will cost me around 3-4K without insurance, so I will fuck off from here and come back few months later when I have done all the procedure and let you know guys know if I got cured or not, till then adios.

Hi everyone,
I’m looking to switch careers and I’ve had my eyes on water treatment for awhile for various reasons. I grew up right beside my towns treatment plant and was always fascinated by it. During university I worked for my cities parks department but always that the guys and girls in water had a more interesting job. I’m currently 25, have my business degree which got me a decent public sector job, however I’m going nuts sitting in an office all day. I’m also limited to my 36.25 hours a week and would really prefer some overtime at this stage of my life to get those student debts paid off. I’ve looked into it and know I need my OIT license minimum. I’m ordering the study package soon and just curious as to how long on average people study for this exam? I also don’t come from an environmental/science background so this is going to be new to me. Is there any other certs/college programs you guys might recommend me doing as well on top of my OIT to better my odds/set me up for success? Any advice is appreciated.

Local (but big brand) bike shop cleaned and re-built my bike. I asked for wider tires too and they threw on some 28's on 2014 super6 evo Cannondale. The bike looked nice and new and provided a more comfortable ride, until I realized a noise. After fumbling around to isolate I found it was the wider tire rubbing the rear stay / chain stay of the frame. A few miles in and Its pealed off a coat or two of paint, exposing the carbon. I spoke with the shop and they swapped the tire our for a 25, but I'm shocked this wasn't noticed by the Mech. I'm ashamed I road it without immediately trying to find the issue. I think the frame is okay. I guess I learned to double check everyone work and find a new bike shop that knows Cannondales better

4: Roleplay in third person. I can't and won't adapt to first. Don't even bring up the idea of you playing first person and me playing third. Believe it or not, I've been asked this twice and that is just a hell no for me. The only time I do first, is when I'm writing into my book.
5: if you don't know how to share ideas, then don't bother messaging me. I'm tired of carrying the story when the other person doesn't help. If you've got ideas, then PLEASE speak up! Your opinion on the roleplay matters too! I'm an easy going person, and easy to get along with (dispite my rules).
6: DO NOT control my character. I control what she says, does, hears, sees, ect. I don't control yours, so don't control mine. HOWEVER, if it's highly necessary and needed, then run it by me first and ask me. Just leave me some wiggle room so I can make a decent response. Failure to comply by this rule, results in immediate drop of the rp.

Yes, I've updated my rules just a tad. I do not care if it makes me sound mean or rude, because I'm neither of these things. I'm just tired of putting these rules down for a specific reason and they go ignored because I can tell when someone hasn't read them, and lied about it. I'm just trying to get my point across and roleplay. I'm a very easy going person who loves to make friends on the side (which I've somewhat given up on making friends...only a selective few have actually gained my friendship).

Despite still being on duty, as Daniel stepped foot onto Olinath Orbital, he felt a wave of relief and relaxation, finally free from the weight of the recent events. He looked to his side as Oprin stepped into the station, who began to look around in wonder at the much larger structure that didn't feel as tight as either the ship or the bunkers. She continued on forward, watching some of the Navy personnel out of the window as they worked, performing initial checks and maintenance on the exterior of the Trailmaker. The pair continued to walk down the docking arm until they reached the main body of the station, where things began to open up further, with many wide and long corridors allowing large groups of people to travel easily, with some smaller ones branching off, allowing access to some of the less busy areas.
Most of the people walking around were Navy personnel, either services the docked ships or the station itself, though there was the odd group of Langan exploring their new temporary home. The pair continued on past them though, heading towards the centre of the station where they were both needed. Daniel guided Oprin to the nearest treadmill, which they both hopped into, speeding up their walk down the long corridor as they made their way to the central hall, stopping a short walk away which they walked unassisted.
As the pair entered the room, they were greeted to the sight of a large crowd, bursting with activity, that upon further inspection turned out to be a few hundred Langan, conversing with a number of UPC officials and three Deities, the first being Celenamartra, but the other two being Deities that Daniel had never met before, though he could identify them by their appearances matching their pictures well.
"I know Celenamartra, but who are the other two?" Oprin asked.
"The large Blue Dragon is Liathock, the God often popularly worshipped by those interested in space and exploration, history, and the mysteries of the world around us, and the Elven woman is Valan'srah, the Goddess often associated with trade, commerce, and powerful magic," Daniel explained.
"Are they nice like Celenamartra?"
"From what I've heard, all the Deities are nice, though they sometimes work in confusing ways that don't always make sense that can leave some people frustrated and annoyed."
"I see…" she replied, getting slightly worried about their reason for being here.
"It's been a long time since any number of them were together in public off of Earth though. Either they wanted to give you a really warm welcome, or they're planning something," Daniel concluded.
"Like what?"
"I have a guess, but I don't want to get your hopes up."
“So you think something good will happen?” Oprin asked.
“Most likely. They tend to only act to do good. It’s usually when they don’t act that people can be disappointed.”
“I see…” she trailed off, looking at some of the people in the crowd. “I don’t recognise everyone here, and some of them look quite healthy…. Did we wake some of them up? Excuse me a moment.”
“Of course,” Daniel replied as she headed into the crowd. He then began to look around, quickly spotting Captain Harris standing at the side of the room on her own, so he headed over, making sure he was still easily spottable to Oprin in case she started looking for him. “Captain.”
“Lieutenant Commander,” Captain Harris replied. “How are you finding things so far?”
“I’ve admittedly only just arrived. Had a report to write and some drama around the sleeping quarters to deal with.”
“Sergeant Richards?” the Captain asked.
“I don’t know his name, but I know he works in engineering. Tall and quite muscular, but I get the feeling he does heavy lifting and not the bulk of the thinking.”
“Thanks for setting him straight before the other senior officers descended on him.”
“You’re welcome, Captain. On another note, am I correct in thinking that some of the Langan here were from cryo pods?”
“Mhm. 187 pods failed in transit, and the occupants woke up.”
“No deaths?”
“None,” she confirmed.
“Those pods are something else….”
“They’re very simple, and Langan biology seems particularly resilient to rapid freezing, though it’s evidently a random quirk rather than an evolutionary advantage given how quickly they need to be frozen to survive.”
“They’re very lucky then.”
“Indeed,” the Captain agreed.
“So, what happens now?”
“Overseer Tenmus and a few Langan politicians that have been woken up are working out some finer details that were put as delayed negotiation points on the original offer to join the UPC. Political structures and integration targets, that sort of thing.”
“Do you think there’s going to be any issues?”
“That depends on the old politicians. The government they were a part of was an oligarchic meritocracy, and we’re a social capitalist democracy. It’s going to cause some integration pains if they stick to that, but given that the old government doesn’t exactly have a lot of power, and a lot of the Langan that are awake don’t exactly revere them, things might change.”
“What about the sleeping ones? Do you think they might have a lot of their elite still frozen that will disagree?”
“They were in Bunker 02. There were no intact pods in that one, despite being designed to be the safest of the lot.”
“Ah, yes, the one with too much concrete to shield them,” Daniel replied, remembering the video of the improperly supported ceiling resting on top of thousands of smashed cryo pods. “I wonder how many bunkers would have survived if they’d figured out the importance of rebar.”
“Nine bunkers were lost due to structural failure. There’s no guarantee that they wouldn’t have succumbed to any of the other many issues the other bunkers did, which some likely would have, but they might have made it,” she replied. “There’s also no guarantee that the rebar they would have used would have been suitable for weather that cold. It could have caused uneven contractions that might have caused cracks to form faster.”
“Maybe…” Daniel sighed, trying not to focus on the loss of life.
The room suddenly grew quiet as one of the doors to the room opened, and four Langan walked in, one of which was Overseer Tenmus, as well as a number of UPC officials, including the President of the UPC: a tall male Human who was noticeably aged, but Daniel knew was undergoing immortality treatments every so often. A microphone was presented to the Overseer, and he cleared his throat as he prepared to speak.
"Welcome all in attendance. It is with great privilege that I can declare that the Langan people have officially joined the UPC," Overseer Tenmus announced, gaining cheats from the crowd of Langan, and claps from everyone else in attendance. "There will be some changes, but given what we've all been through, I'm sure you'll all agree that change is most welcome. Going forward, we shall be changing how we decide who is in charge, and nominating people into the UPC's political forms, of which we currently have a seat in both the two main bodies to ensure fair representation, with more seats available once our population increases so that we are no longer a minor colony. These positions will be filled by a vote of all people on our new home. These votes will happen shortly after the celebrations.
"We have also decided to switch our local government to a similar system, with a transitional period of ten years from the current leadership to ensure the initial stages go smoothly, with votes occurring every five years after that. A technological enlightenment program has been established, and the plan is for students in schools to be taught about the new technologies, while analogues for what we have been used to will be made available so there isn't a harsh transition. Learning about the new technologies is encouraged however, as they provide many benefits. All other details of the agreement remain unchanged, and the vote on naming our new planet is still planned to be held once everyone has been woken up. With that, I thank you for listening, and I will now hand over to President Finley."
There was another round of cheers and clapping as the Human President stepped forward, quickly shaking hands with the Overseer as he took the microphone.
"Thank you, Overseer Tenmus," the President began, glancing at the camera at the back of the room. "There has been a dream from long before the peoples of the UPC reached the stars that one day we would find that we are not alone out there. We knew there was a strong chance we weren't, but despite us looking, the Universe was always silent. Today, however, we now know that we are not alone, and I am proud that we can stand hand-in-hand with people from another world, and that we can work together to make the Universe a better place. The UPC stands fully committed to supporting the Langan people as they grow, and our hand is outstretched so we may stand side by side as one people. Today marks a turning point in history that will be remembered for millennia. Thank you all for listening."
There was an awkward momentary shuffle as the three Deities walked over to the microphone, positioning themselves in front of the camera, the size of the two Dragons forcing it to be tilted upwards so that a window overlooking the planet below was in shot.
"Greetings, everyone," Celenamartra began. "Today, the three of us have met with many of the Langan people, heard their plights, and listened about many of their woes. Their world was far outside our jurisdiction, and I am saddened to see what happened because of that. However, the Langan people now have the full support of all Deities."
"We all agree that we should help them," Valan'srah added. "They have lost too much to start over with no help from us."
"And I'm sure many of you feel that you'd want to help in any way you can after what they've been through," Liathock took over. "Too often do tragedies happen, but their entire home becoming uninhabitable through no fault of their own is an unspeakable tragedy."
"Which is why we're committed to doing what we can to help them," Celenamartra continued. "During the rescue efforts, a number of plant seeds and animal eggs were recovered from their home, and the plan was to use them to slowly terraform their new home. There’s not enough to restore the full biodiversity they were used to, but there is enough to create a stable biosphere. It would be a slow process that would have left the Langan people station-bound for months or likely even years, and would take decades to complete. The UPC has already brought the planet into a position where the process can start, so we thought we ought to do our part."
The crowd began to murmur in disbelief as the planet behind the Deities began to turn greener and greener, until the once rocky surface was completely transformed into a lush forest that spanned almost the whole planet, only stopping at the oceans, frozen poles, and a thin strip of desert near the equator. Daniel couldn't help but smile to himself as his earlier guess proved to be right.
"We are now equally committed to the Langan as we are to any other people, and we will ensure that they get the help they need. Thank you for listening," Valan'srah concluded, heading off camera with the other two Deities.

"Hey, so, do you think they're expecting us to worship them now?" Oprin asked Daniel as they headed towards the hangar they had been directed to.
"Probably not. The Deities have never been ones to ask for worship, and have even discouraged it at times," he replied, checking which shuttle they were on. "At most they'd like to be respected as Deities, or an equivalent that is suitable in your culture."
"I think they will get that," Oprin assured him, entering the hangar.
Daniel led her over to their shuttle, which was a medium sized cargo shuttle that had a small prefabricated house attached to its cargo mounting point. After they boarded, a few more Langan joined them on board, and the shuttle took off, sliding out of the hangar and immediately heading for the planet. The ride was relaxingly smooth compared to the ones from the Langan's old home, and before too long, they reached the green plain near a large river that was destined to be where the first Langan settlement was established. The house was dropped off at its designated spot, where a waiting team quickly installed it, and the shuttle then landed to let its passengers disembark.
As Daniel and Oprin stepped on onto the grass-like plant growth beneath them, Oprin took in a deep breath of fresh air, and sat herself down, looking up at the sky as shuttles flew past, delivering people, supplies, and more buildings. She watched as a particularly large ship floated down to the nearby river, depositing the foundations of a water treatment plant, which it then began to construct properly. She then watched as a freighter dropped off a series of large buildings, with a hospital, a school, and a UPC embassy being the three dropped off close enough for her to make out.
"It's really over now, isn't it?" Oprin asked.
"Yes, it is," Daniel confirmed, sitting down next to her. "It might take a little while for things to properly settle into the new normal, but you're not in any danger anymore."
"I'm not wasting your time, am I?"
"No, my current duty is to help the person who helped us. Basically, you've got me for a few days to help you with whatever you need."
“So I have a servant?”
“I guess,” Daniel shrugged.
Oprin let out a small chuckle before watching more buildings be installed. “I’m surprised by how many buildings you have already if this wasn’t something that the UPC planned to happen today.”
“The station in orbit is designed to quickly churn out most buildings needed for the early colonisation phase. All you need to do is feed the factories with the right resources, and the prefabs can be churned out in a few dozen minutes. The prefabs aren’t exactly as good as properly built structures, but they are still pretty good. I don’t know the resource situation, but I doubt we’ll get everything needed to wake up all the cryo pods before the stockpiles run out and more have to be shipped in.”
“It looks like there's more than enough for a thousand people already though.”
“Ture, but bear in mind there will be some other people from the UPC living here to work in the power plant, water treatment, hospital, and so on. We can’t just dump foreign tech on you and expect everything to go smoothly, can we?”
“I suppose…. Hey, do you think my new house is installed yet?” she asked.
“No idea. Wanna find out?”

Tothmure had been sent to the axe for dispatching birds to Casterly Rock and King's Landing the night Harrenhal had fallen, Lucan the armorer for making weapons for the Lannisters, Goodwife Harra for telling Lady Whent's household to serve them, the steward for giving Lord Tywin the keys to the treasure vault. The cook was spared (some said because he'd made the weasel soup), but stocks were hammered together for pretty Pia and the other women who'd shared their favors with Lannister soldiers. Stripped and shaved, they were left in the middle ward beside the bear pit, free for the use of any man who wanted them.

Of Lady Whent's people, only three remained—the cook who had opened the postern gate for Ser Gregor, a bent-back armorer called Ben Blackthumb, and a girl named Pia, who was not near as pretty as she had been when Jaime saw her last. Someone had broken her nose and knocked out half her teeth. (AFFC Jaime III)
But the Pia they had brought up from the dungeons was a different creature from the sweet, simple, giggly creature who'd crawled beneath his blankets. She had made the mistake of speaking when Ser Gregor wanted quiet, so the Mountain had smashed her teeth to splinters with a mailed fist and broken her pretty little nose as well. (AFFC Jaime III)

Note that Pia sometimes sees things that might not be there:

"There's ghosts, I know there is." Hot Pie was kneading bread, his arms floured up to his elbows. "Pia saw something in the buttery last night."
Arya made a rude noise. Pia was always seeing things in the buttery. Usually they were men. "Can I have a tart?" she asked. (ACOK Arya IX)

She not only loses her teeth, but is threatened with the loss of her feet:

"Wake up Pia and tell her she'd best be nimble for once, if she wants to keep both of her feet." (ACOK Arya IX)

She has a whiff of holiness about her, and despite her new 'flaws', is still pretty:

Pia listened as solemnly as a girl of five being lessoned by her septa. That's all she is, a little girl in a woman's body, scarred and scared. Peck was taken with her, though. Jaime suspected that the boy had never known a woman, and Pia was still pretty enough, so long as she kept her mouth closed. (AFFC Jaime IV)

Finally, she clutches a bundle of clothing "to her breasts":

Pia clutched the clothing to her breasts. (AFFC Jaime IV)

So what?
So, I was wondering about the name Tothmure. I think it likely has two referents. (Like so so many names — and other things — in ASOIAF, it's overdetermined.)
First, it may reference Alex Toth. Toth is in the comic book industry's Jack Kirby Hall of Fame. He drew for DC Comics from 1947 to 1952, then worked for Dell. He continued to periodically work in comics over the years, writing a Batman story in 1974, but mostly working on non-superhero titles. But he's better known for his work for Hanna-Barbera, where he created Space Ghost and Sealab 2020. (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Toth)
While I think GRRM may have been happy to nod to Toth, I think he did while drawing on something else while naming (and characterizing) Maester Tothmure and his partner in punishement, Pia: the story of [Laszlo Toth and Michelangelo's Pietà], a sculpture of the Virgin Mary holding Jesus's dead body:

Toth achieved worldwide notoriety when he vandalised Michelangelo's Pietà statue on 21 May 1972. He was not charged with a criminal offence after the incident, but was hospitalized in Italy for two years. On his release, he was immediately deported to Australia. Note that Toth was a geologist and, prior to the incident, a prolific letter writer:

After graduating in geology, in 1965 he moved to Australia. As his English was poor and his geology diploma was not recognized, he initially worked at a soap factory. In June 1971 he moved to Rome, Italy, knowing no Italian, intending to become recognized as Christ. He sent letters to Pope Paul VI and unsuccessfully attempted to meet him.

Maesters like Tothmure are the scientists and letter-writers of ASOIAF, and Tothmure was punished for a crime involving letterwriting.
Laszlo Toth's crime was to use a geologist's hammer (used to break rocks, presumably) to chip away at a statute of the Virgin Mary (the anti-"slut", so to speak) holding the body of Jesus. (See: "Pia" the "slut" who gets her teeth and nose broken by "the Mountain" and who later appears pious clutching the bundle to her breast.)

On 21 May 1972, at 33 years of age (Jesus's traditional age at death), on the Feast of Pentecost, Toth, wielding a geologist's hammer and shouting, "I am Jesus Christ—risen from the dead", attacked Michelangelo's Pietà statue in St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City. With fifteen blows he removed Mary's arm at the elbow [recall the threat to cut off Pia's feet!!!], knocked off a chunk of her nose [recall Pia's broken nose!!!], and chipped one of her eyelids [recall Pia's broken — i.e. badly chipped? — teeth!!!]. He was subdued by bystanders, including American sculptor Bob Cassilly, who struck Toth several times before pulling him away from the Pietà. In view of his apparent mental instability, Toth was never charged with the crime. On 29 January 1973, he was committed to an Italian psychiatric hospital. He was released on 9 February 1975 and immediately deported back to Australia, where authorities did not detain him.

It's not just that the statue is physically damaged like Pia, it's also that the statue that was damaged a la Pia is one of Mary holding the body of Jesus, who was tortured and degraded, like Pia.

Regarding Toth being punished for doing what it was evidently determined he felt inexorably compelled to do (and later de facto exiled), see Tothmure sending off the letters that saw him executed because duty compelled him.
Regarding Toth (who breaks Pieta's face) shouting that he's "risen from the dead", see the Mountain (who breaks Pia's face) apparently being raised from the dead by a "Necromancer" and remaining pointedly silent.

Interestingly (in view of the potential Tothmure-Alex Toth connection), the Toth/Pieta incident apparently inspired a comic book:

Comic book artist Steve Ditko used Toth's actions as the central metaphor in his 1992 examination of issues concerning creation and destruction, Lazlo's Hammer (corrected to "Laszlo's Hammer" in subsequent reprints and revisions).

Anyway, that's it. Just wanted to point out the likely origins of the names and stories of Tothmure and Pia.
I continue to believe that ASOIAF is riddled with — to the point that it practically consists largely of — references of this kind to real world culture, in keeping with the Mark Twain line which I believe is one of GRRM's guiding touchstones in crafting ASOIAF:

History never repeats itself, but the Kaleidoscopic combinations of the pictured present often seem to be constructed out of the broken fragments of antique legends.

I mostly talk about that quote as guiding the internal recursion/'rhyming' within ASOIAF, per which storylines quasi-repeat and characters experience rejiggered versions of the same things over and over, and per which the fake history books are not world-building so much as bags of breadcrumbs retroactively designed such that they can be seen as seemingly providing the "broken fragments" out of which the "present" of ASOIAF-proper is kaleidoscopically formed, per the Twain quote.
But I also think that ASOIAF is, to a far more significant degree than I suspect some may be comfortable with, a project of breaking apart and kaelidoscopically recombining the broken fragments of real world cultural artifacts and history.
Who knows how much more shit like the Toth/Pieta incident in 'contained' in ASOIAF.
