 | First post here. Picked this up at the LCS for my dad for Father’s Day. This card is 70 years old. God willing my dad will be 75 years old this August. He’s been battling some health issues recently and I realize he won’t be around forever. Sometimes you just buy the card regardless of the grade. It’s his favorite card of all-time and used to be a part of his childhood collection. He had it in a long narrow box along w/ the rest of his collection. While away at basic training for the Army in Jackson, MS his youngest brother was back home on the family farm in MT still in high school. His brother threw his card collection out to convert the box into a rabbit feeder for 4-H. My dad had Mantles. Mays’s. All of the cards and all of the names from that time up until 1964. He never gets upset about them when he does talk about them but it’s apparent he misses those cards and wishes he still had them just to look at. “Oh you should see that 52 Mantle in person! A 56 Mantle! Oh and that 53 Berra! Prettiest of them all.” Happy to be returning one of those to him in a couple of weeks (wasn’t in the budget this year for any of the Mantles lol). Knowing my dad he’s gonna cry like a baby. And that’ll make me cry. The 53 Berra also happens to be my favorite cause it’s his. Sons are funny like that sometimes. Gave me goose bumps just holding it today. Warning
i) I do not believe that it's the readers job to like a character, I think it's a writers job to MAKE the readers like that character. Sure, there are some exceptions, but it applies in Riordan's case.ii) You may not agree with all things, but listen and consider first. Just because you don't agree with a few arguments doesn't mean the whole argument's bad. Try to have an open mind.
iii) This is about Rick's writing rather than Piper's character. The character is what the author writes them to be.
The Argument
First of all, her character feels forced. She feels like a secondary character. Her development is quite sudden, and her arcs feel like Rick forgot about her and when he remembered, he decided to cram her development into a few pages of people acknowledging that she has grown. Instead of letting us see her growth, we are told to acknowledge it through various POVs saying "she isn't the same girl she was in that last chapter, she killed an icy lady and gave powers to a dragon! look at that badass queen! she's grown!" People literally TOLD US "she's grown". Telling not showing, much?Her story feels like compensation for her rather than well planned out, spread out development. Many of her powers make no sense - her CHARM-SPEAKING a PRIMORDIAL GODDESS to sleep. Her waking up a mechanical dragon. It feels like Rick realized "hey! this character is useless! let's make her do things that she shouldn't be able to do to show readers she's on the same level as the rest!"
Her sudden growth feels annoying as hell, since there are other characters who had to go through hell-like situations to grow. Frank fighting for Nico's life, Percy and Annabeth going through taratus, Annabeth with her mission. It would have been better to give her a sole arc like Annabeth's mission, where she grows facing intense danger, rather than her suddenly becoming a much better fighter. Her fight with icy queen was pretty short and didn't feel dangerous enough. She wasn't backed up into a desperate situation. It lasted a couple of pages and it didn't feel adrenaline filling, or threatening at all. So doesn't justify her growth.
Piper is different, let her be different! People have suggested several different ways Piper could have been better - liking girly things but still being a good fighter, etc. In almost every fanfic, I like that Piper more than Rick's Piper. Rather, she feels like a blank canvas of a character. She doesn't feel special or different enough. Leo is another person with sudden growth, but in his case it was much better handled - showing it to us, not telling it. Eventual growth throughout the fifth book. Pain, trauma. Joking because he felt pain. Keep going, keep laughing, especially when you don't feel like it. It redeemed his character for many people, including me.
Her POVs are annoying. They feel like observations or whining. While other POVs contain action, or deep feelings, her POVs feel superficial and like first-world problems. Her complaints with her father and his fame aren't written well. I felt like skipping her POV to get to the more exciting parts.
She feels like a blank person. It might have been better to involve her cheerokee heritage into her character. The one time I liked her was when she sang the snake song in the fifth book to lead them into the giant's liar. But the whole thing about Aphrodite being more powerful than the other goddesses because she's older made no sense and made her seem egoistic.
That's the thing - she might have grown. but her growth doesn't feel earned.
Her relationship with Jason is also weird. Honestly percabeth is the only relationship I actually like from Rick's books. The relationships in HOO have on-off moments, they feel distracted, like its left untouched for large amounts of time and then suddenly there's a romantic moment. Percy and Annabeth got together AFTER the war. They had a great, undeniably good journey. If they had gotten together in the first book, I honestly wouldn't have liked them.

I’m working on a myth at the moment, just need to make games and such (which I’m still learning how to)
I have such a good idea for my Roblox myth I’ve been working on and off for the past 2 years, I’m not the best at making games but I don’t want to seem like those “new myths” that just make edits of their characters and leave it at that. I think I have a good story line though.
Story Line
There’s a parallel universe where there’s one big island and for the majority one clan rules it. The skull clan. This clan is lead by Percy. When Percy was around 40, he adopted Alex. Alex is a young man now. Percy was getting one, he was around 60 when he told Alex that when he died alex would take over the skull clan. Alex tried to deny thinking he couldn’t but Percy assured him he could. One day Percy dissapeared, no body was found at all, and at this point he would’ve been around 75 and Alex would’ve been around 30 something. So Alex immediately thought since he was the second in command that he would be the one to take over, but when he arrived at Percy’s kingdom he saw one person, James, or as most people know him as Itython to most people. Itython somehow got there from another parallel universe, in this universe Itython was severely abused by his parents without him realizing. Whenever he cried his parents said “we don’t care because you only can care about yourself. You have to act as if your the only one here.” They would do horrible things to him but by the age of 18 he had moved away and lived somewhere else far away from them. But when he came to this universe and realized Alex was trying to take his throne, he did as he was taught. He told Alex he was the only one that mattered and when Alex tried to explain otherwise he stitched a bone goat mask onto his face. This causing him to not be able to take it off ever again. He did horrible things to Alex, and he renamed the skull clan the skull cult. He had one worker in particular who he favorited, John Jackyson. John Jackyson was a former CEO of a big company in his area but it went bankrupt. So John started working for Itython. But Itython got mad whenever he went to spend time with his family so he planted a curse on his wife Mary. He cried and cried which caused Itython to be even more annoyed and plant a curse on him too. Now him and Mary look like unusual and stuff and lost most if not all of their memory of their children and everything. Alex and John usually have arguments over John helping Itython. But they made up and formed the horned clan and are now trying to take over the skull clan.
I haven’t got an ending yet and I have an idea instead of making games I will show the lore in other ways as well which I will not give away yet. I’m gonna try to get my friends to help me develop this myth more but this is just a rough sketch.

The children exchanged puzzled glances, sensing that something was amiss. Jackson, being the older of the two, mustered the courage to ask, "Mom, are you okay? You sound different." Sidney's eyes appeared distant, lacking the warmth and familiarity the children were accustomed to. Ignoring Jackson's question, she walked past them without reciprocating their affectionate gestures. Confusion mixed with concern began to ripple through the kids' young minds. Feeling a surge of protectiveness, I approached Sidney cautiously. "Honey, is everything alright? You seem... different." I tried to conceal my apprehension, but the worry etched across my face betrayed my concern. She turned towards me, a chilling smile slowly spreading across her lips. "Everything is fine, dear," she replied, her voice a cold whisper that sent shivers down my spine. "I've just had an enlightening experience during my trip. It's opened my eyes to a new way of thinking." The air in the room seemed to grow heavier as her words hung in the silence. Sensing the need for privacy, I motioned for the kids to retreat to their rooms. Jackson and Madison glanced at each other once more before reluctantly obeying, their worried expressions etched in their young faces. Once alone, I faced Sidney, searching her eyes for any trace of the woman I knew and loved. "Sidney, please, tell me what happened. We've always shared everything, remember?" My voice trembled with a mix of fear and longing. “Yes… Dear.” She walked into the kitchen with a emotionless face, I stared up seeing my kids staring down from the top of the staircase, fear in there eyes. My wife had a knife on the cutting board as she is cutting something… She was cutting her fingers off as blood poured from the hands making a pool of blood on the board. My kids scream and run upstairs. As I watched in horror, Sidney continued mutilating her own hand, the metallic scent of blood permeating the air. The sight of her fingers being severed one by one sent shivers down my spine. But it wasn't just her actions that terrified me; it was the transformation I witnessed in her eyes, a glimmer of something ancient and malevolent. The atmosphere in the room grew thick with an otherworldly presence, and I couldn't shake the feeling that something sinister had taken hold of my wife. Shadows danced on the walls, twisting and contorting in unnatural ways, as if the very essence of evil had seeped into our home. My children's screams echoed through the house, their voices carrying a mix of terror and confusion. They huddled together, their eyes wide with fear, as if sensing the malevolence that had infiltrated our lives. I knew I had to protect them, to find a way to confront whatever entity had taken possession of Sidney. With trembling hands, I reached for my phone to call for help. But as I attempted to dial, the screen glitched, displaying distorted images that resembled twisted, contorted faces. Panic surged through me, threatening to overwhelm my senses. It was as if the skinwalker itself was manipulating my reality, trapping us in its nightmarish domain. Driven by a primal instinct to safeguard my family, I rushed toward the staircase, the stairs creaking beneath my feet. Whispers filled the air, insidious voices that spoke in a language I couldn't comprehend. The house seemed to breathe with a life of its own, each room concealing secrets and horrors that made my skin crawl. As I ascended the stairs, the darkness seemed to grow thicker, suffocating me with its presence. The children's room stood ominously at the end of the hallway, a beacon of both sanctuary and terror. Their muffled cries spurred me forward, my heart pounding in my chest. Pushing open the door, I entered a room cloaked in an eerie silence. The air was heavy, the temperature dropping to bone-chilling levels. My gaze was drawn to the closet, a source of unease that emanated from its depths. I could feel malevolence lurking within, a palpable sense of danger. With trepidation, I approached the closet, my hand shaking as I reached for the handle. The door swung open with a creak, revealing a void of darkness that seemed to devour the feeble light. Whispers swirled around me, disembodied voices that filled my mind with dread. As I stepped inside, the darkness wrapped around me like a suffocating shroud. Shadows writhed and twisted, taking on grotesque shapes that seemed to mock my existence. The scent of decay filled the air, a nauseating reminder of the evil that resided within. Suddenly, an unearthly howl reverberated through the house, shaking the very foundation. It was a sound that seemed to echo from the depths of hell, sending terror coursing through my veins. The skinwalker had revealed its true form, a twisted abomination hungry for our souls. I knew that time was running out. With every fiber of my being, I fought against the malevolent forces that sought to consume us. I vowed to protect my family, to face the skinwalker head-on and banish it back to the darkness from whence it came. With a mixture of desperation and determination, I steeled myself for the final confrontation, praying that we would emerge from this nightmarish ordeal unscathed.

Like I understand why they focused more on Christina and Derek’s trauma but it occurred to me when Meredith is telling Derek what it’s like to be wife in the waiting room and Derek was calling her a spoiled brat- like sir just because you were the one on the table doesn’t mean that what she went through was any less than what you went through.
But it got me thinking that they never really acknowledged anybody else’s grief except Derek and Christina’s.

I adopted a 3 year female cat back in September. She's the sweetet most timid cat imaginable and is the friendliest cat to humans.
To give her some companionship, I adopted a 2 year old female cat from the shelter. I intentionally chose a cat from within the cat room at the Humane Society in hopes of finding a cat somewhat compatible with other cats. She was extremely shy and timid when we first met her at the shelter.
I'm currently on month 5 of trying to introduce the cats to absolutely no progress. The new cat upon seeing any other cat will immediately try to pounce and chase after the resident cat, despite being the sweetest cat imaginable to humans. She has an insanely high energy level, to the point that 4 full hours of playtime during the day leaves her with plenty of energy.
I have had the cats separated in different rooms and constantly have to swap them because they're incapable of even being around each other. The closest to a positive interaction is getting them able to eat food in front of each other with a screen door block in between.
Resident cat will often lay down in front of the other car during the start of playtime sessions but the bully cat will immediately lock onto her and attempt to chase and bite her and bully her.
I've tried Feliway diffusers, treats, hemp treats, leash training all to no avail. I've watched hours of Jackson Galaxy and have yet to see a situation with cat behavior as bad as this.
I'm at my wits end because Ive put so much time into trying to get these cats to like each other but it feels like the bully cat refuses to be into a house with another cat.

Consider the most prominent antitheists on the planet: Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, etc... All are ardent capitalists who have advocated lustfully for war in the Muslim World because they have all been quite open about the fact that they want to see as many Muslims slaughtered as possible, with Harris attempting to back-track in recent years, but Hitchens defending the Iraq War to his dying breath—his death being one that I certainly did not mourn for the record. Yet, everytime I describe antitheism as an inherently evil, genocidal ideology, I always receive criticism from at least one leftist who derides me for engaging in "identity politics". I don't understand why it is so difficult for people to grasp that the demonization of religious people serves as a catalyst for violence.
Some of the most prominent leftists in the community from Noam Chomsky, to Hasan Piker, to the late, great Michael Brooks have all expressed a similar sentiment to me on the subject and I thus feel vindicated in my position. Going back further, Marx and Lenin were unapologetic in their support for religious liberty despite their own disbelief in a higher power. Even Kyle Kulinski has distanced himself from the so-called "New Atheist" movement in recent years. I actually unsubscribed from the Humanist Report simply because he described himself as an antitheist on his podcast and it is the one ideology I refuse to tolerate.
To be clear, I have no problem whatsoever with atheists. In fact, many of my personal friends and comrades alike are irreligious but we maintain our relationships because they also express opposition to the persecution of people of faith. I also concur that organized religious institutions are by no means above criticism or even disdain. Antitheism or antagonism towards religious people on the other hand is not only a vile worldview, but one that is without merit, considering that some of the greatest socialist heroes have followed a particular faith, including Malcolm X, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Chris Hedges. It is my sincere hope that the ostracization of antithiests becomes a top priority for the left as these people are not allies and should be as shunned from the movement as national socialists (nazbols).
TL;DR: Atheists are acceptable, antithiests at bare minimum serve as useful idiots for war and the interests of industry. I would highly recommend reading "When Atheism Becomes Religion" by Rev. Hedges for those who would like to learn more on the topic.

The first essay
In the previous post, I have discussed about the skirmishes on all corners of the internet, the systematic destruction of idea by algorithms, and the apocalyptic wasteland that is the Chinese internet. All were discussed in the last post, however, one thing was neglected from the picture: the “eldritch influence“.
In the first post, I have mentioned an intensive effort launched by RT and CCP to shape the narrative in favor of the invasion. However, as previously mentioned, due to a myriad of reasons, the entire effort lays to waste in the lone and level sands that stretch far away. They have abandoned their old way of setting up positions on RT's main channel and their Donbass offshoot "Donbass Today". In fact, back then DPR was extremely successful in their propaganda machine before Belgorod attacks. The amount of DPR lies actually made me lost my shit multiple times. You would never want to know what ideas I had to deal with the people of Donbass, in fact it almost becomes a rage trigger to me. Despite that, the pro-Russians stragglers are still there, and they are adapting. Nobody has declared surrender yet, so the war will just drag on, as Clausewitz has observed. Many of them are now operating purely out of spite, resembling the worst of the trolls in the west and their rhetoric began to be more similar to their twitter counterpart. Meanwhile, the Russian influence campaign is still ongoing in a more insidious and covert way. The internet arguments become more like UkraineRussiaReport than RussianWarFootage. The main focus of Russian influence campaign seems to be dedicated to creating artificial disinfolklores and some legitimately weird channels showcasing how good life is in occupied Mariupol. Sometimes pro-Ukraine content creators will be subjected to mass report and get banned, but most of times they have a backup account to minimize damage.
As previously mentioned, the Chinese domestic "analysts", one being pro-Russia and the other being pro-Ukraine, both ended up being noncredible, with one being Chinese Chuck Pfarrer and the other making schizo claims like Zaluzhnyi has intimate relationship with several female service members (is this supposed to make him look bad?) Of course, people began to adapt. On the pro-Ukraine side, there is now a guy called "Regent Taboritsky" (塔博里茨基摄政王 yes, this is a TNO reference). He was formerly a pro-Russian who use Artermovisk but has changed to the Ukrainian side. Meanwhile, other "analysts" has also underwent evolution. (ignore the next two paragraphs if you just want to read noncredible)
Do you remember the TNO reference? Why does Chinese also know about that? Actually, it shaped all Chinese political discourse. Chinese internet is a wasteland at best, years of censorship and bitter warfare has drained the land of creativity and independent thought. Many of the counterculture guys who I refer as PANOP (pan-opposition, an umbrella term for modern anti-establishment Chinese) are actually pro-regime folks who ended up graduating from college and have to work 12 hours a day. Despite having changed side, they are actually just the same, same mindlessness and malice, nothing more, nothing less. Meanwhile, censorship algorithms have systematically salted the earth, so that no organized ideology apart from the official one can be present. These efforts are eventually made futile thanks to one man - JREG (yes, you can trust your eyes). His political compass memes successfully provided the PANOPs with enough munition to blow up the internet. Eventually everything related to him got censored, but then TNO was there, the weapons are now everywhere, no amount of salt would ever stop them again. It's like the wars in Japan that lead to Edo period in many regards, battles with salvaged foreign ideas and memes where getting hold of foreign material becomes an immense power multiplier.
In fact, I have a very derogatory comparison for Chinese internet's relationship to the global one: the anaerobic tank of a sewage treatment plant. The worst crap of 4chan and beyond sedimented into the Chinese one, just like how the large excrement particles sedimented into the anaerobic tank after the initial aerobic respiration, and our netizens feasted on it like bacteria feasted on the fresh excrements. (my knowledge of sewage treatment comes from IGCSE biology, so it might be inaccurate). One of the most terrifying case of how this can influence Chinese internet was the alt-righters in '16. Actually, the largest case of the great meme war spillover was in China. During that time, everyone was fuming about Baizuo, the Chinese equivalent of SJW, while some others do stand for Bernie, most are taking up Great Replacement Theory and mocking Trans ideology. Many began to take Breivik as a hero and claim refugees are swarming Europe. Pizzagate was also a widespread meme back then. This exposure left a mark in the Chinese internet culture, which partially contributed to the recent surge in antisemitism in '23. To be honest with you all, after spending years on Chinese internet, I just can't stand regular Chinese netizen calling Azov guys neo-Nazi, they should look into the nearest mirror.
The hybridization described above then contributes to a new evolution of Chinese online discourse over the Ukraine war. Chinese posters are expert trolls and partisans, but they have a fundamental lack of first hand knowledge regarding war in Ukraine. Thus, contact with foreign sources becomes essential. On Zhihu, there are several accounts that have access to twitter OSINT accounts (accounts that are highly regarded by professionals). The most notable being Ducling, who have been a staunch pro-Ukraine guy with liberal tendency. He made a reference to Emil Kastehelmi："The Russian 'Special Military Operation' is getting increasingly special, even after day 453" for an question about the Belgorod attack. He also made a cope compilation (the most favored tactic of Chinese pro-Ukraine accounts, known as 合订本, that collects all the past pro-Russian claims as a method of discrediting the pro-Russians. Often with great effect ) of claims surrounding Bakhmut. For people who can't understand the information presented, Chinese internet slang was often designed to evade censorship and is highly informal, so you shouldn't understand it at all. There's another OSINT guy called Suyi控, who made the best analysis of the Discord files ever. Chinese OSINT guys tend to have a boner for Syrskyi, me included. Memelords have also adopted some stuff from twitter, I remember seeing the Putin attending Nuremburg escorted by fellas wearing MP uniforms on the profile on one of the accounts. At the same time, there are also pro-Russians who use the John McBurgers of Ohio oblast under Zelensky's tweet as proof of Ukraine is losing. This tactic can be incredibly effective due to confirmation bias, and in many cases RT have used the exact same material to propagandize both Chinese and Americans.
Bilibili, due to the limitations mentioned in the first article, relies on cruder extraction. There is a guy called Deepstate-carry (Deepstate-搬运) who basically cargo-cult through deepstatemap's telegram. In my opinion, the best combat footages come from a guy called Okken sight (欧肯视线), who is a true neutral source regarding combat footage, he contain a slight Russian bias but his videos are neutral, which led to him being criticized by both pro-Russians and pro-Ukrainians. I'd recommend folks on this sub who drank too much pro-Ukraine vranyo to be tied on a chair forced to watch his videos of both Russian and Ukrainian combat losses to remove overt bias and complacency. Meanwhile there are other pro-Ukrainian accounts such as CarlPacho (卡尔帕乔) who uploads Ukrainian combat footages and is a pro-Ukraine guy himself, recently he got banned but he's got a backup account. Meanwhile there are people translating Battle Order's videos, such as a guy called 101eagle and a guy who's called Marine rifleman (四等人的步枪兵). On Bilibili the materials used are often of inferior quality such a a gal doing analysis who is called frosty leaves of a thousand spring (千秋霜叶), her sources include Weeb Union (HistoryLegends' pal) and Chuck Pfarrer. She's pro-Ukraine by the way.
Now we have talked through all the developments of the pro-Ukraine side, let's face the pro-Russian abyss. As mentioned before, Bilibili has access to inferior foreign materials. Meanwhile pro-Russians coopt the pro-Russian war blogger model. The most notorious model being a guy known as SnailColgiweibo (蜗牛柯基weibo) who is basically a Rybar copycat, he is capable of mimicking Rybar to an astonishing degree and has the ability to cheer during Kyiv bombing (what about Donbass). I'd recommend you to stay away from Chinese internet unless you want to be dehumanized like me.
Recently, another person called Atuna (阿吞啊) popped up, he is some of the most capable pro-Russian ever. At first, he came out with translation of a RUSI report. However, in his next video, he uses HistoryLegends. Calling him a "neutral pro-Ukraine source". He marked a dangerous new development of pro-Russian messaging, the ability to use actual credible western sources to their advantage. Furthermore, there is another analyst called Mt. Guandong peasant Wangdaxi (关东山农民王大喜), who made a video detailing RUSI's latest report. He took great note of the adaptation by the Russian armed forces while dismissing the mentions of poor Russian morale as "western hubris", "illogical" and "political correctness". The Wangdaxi person is actually a protégé of sort of the person who claimed Russia is going to take Lviv (that guy deserves his own article), and it seems like now there's an advanced sect of pro-Russian who have access to information. Such cynicism often end up manifesting into outbursts against pro-Ukraine positions on reddit. I took a grim enjoyment being the "conscience of NCD" where I regard many as vranyo obsessed individuals no better than the vatniks. In the previous post, I have discussed about the skirmishes on all corners of the internet, the systematic destruction of idea by algorithms, and the apocalyptic wasteland that is the Chinese internet. All were discussed in the last post, however, one thing was neglected from the picture: the “eldritch influence“.
In the first post, I have mentioned an intensive effort launched by RT and CCP to shape the narrative in favor of the invasion. However, as previously mentioned, due to a myriad of reasons, the entire effort lays to waste in the lone and level sands that stretch far away. They have abandoned their old way of setting up positions on RT's main channel and their Donbass offshoot "Donbass Today". In fact, back then DPR was extremely successful in their propaganda machine before Belgorod attacks. The amount of DPR lies actually made me lost my shit multiple times. You would never want to know what ideas I had to deal with the people of Donbass, in fact it almost becomes a rage trigger to me. Despite that, the pro-Russians stragglers are still there, and they are adapting. Nobody has declared surrender yet, so the war will just drag on, as Clausewitz has observed. Many of them are now operating purely out of spite, resembling the worst of the trolls in the west and their rhetoric began to be more similar to their twitter counterpart. Meanwhile, the Russian influence campaign is still ongoing in a more insidious and covert way. The internet arguments become more like UkraineRussiaReport than RussianWarFootage. The main focus of Russian influence campaign seems to be dedicated to creating artificial disinfolklores and some legitimately weird channels showcasing how good life is in occupied Mariupol. Sometimes pro-Ukraine content creators will be subjected to mass report and get banned, but most of times they have a backup account to minimize damage.
As previously mentioned, the Chinese domestic "analysts", one being pro-Russia and the other being pro-Ukraine, both ended up being noncredible, with one being Chinese Chuck Pfarrer and the other making schizo claims like Zaluzhnyi has intimate relationship with several female service members (is this supposed to make him look bad?) Do you remember the TNO reference? Why does Chinese also know about that? Actually, it shaped all Chinese political discourse. Chinese internet is a wasteland at best, years of censorship and bitter warfare has drained the land of creativity and independent thought. Many of the counterculture guys who I refer as PANOP (pan-opposition, an umbrella term for modern anti-establishment Chinese) are actually pro-regime folks who ended up graduating from college and have to work 12 hours a day. Despite having changed side, they are actually just the same, same mindlessness and malice, nothing more, nothing less. Meanwhile, censorship algorithms have systematically salted the earth, so that no organized ideology apart from the official one can be present. These efforts are eventually made futile thanks to one man - JREG (yes, you can trust your eyes). His political compass memes successfully provided the PANOPs with enough munition to blow up the internet. Eventually everything related to him got censored, but then TNO was there, the weapons are now everywhere, no amount of salt would ever stop them again. It's like the wars in Japan that lead to Edo period in many regards, battles with salvaged foreign ideas and memes where getting hold of foreign material becomes an immense power multiplier.
In fact, I have a very derogatory comparison for Chinese internet's relationship to the global one: the anaerobic tank of a sewage treatment plant. The worst crap of 4chan and beyond sedimented into the Chinese one, just like how the large excrement particles sedimented into the anaerobic tank after the initial aerobic respiration, and our netizens feasted on it like bacteria feasted on the fresh excrements. (my knowledge of sewage treatment comes from IGCSE biology, so it might be inaccurate). One of the most terrifying case of how this can influence Chinese internet was the alt-righters in '16. Actually, the largest case of the great meme war spillover was in China. During that time, everyone was fuming about Baizuo, the Chinese equivalent of SJW, while some others do stand for Bernie, most are taking up Great Replacement Theory and mocking Trans ideology. Many began to take Breivik as a hero and claim refugees are swarming Europe. Pizzagate was also a widespread meme back then. This exposure left a mark in the Chinese internet culture, which partially contributed to the recent surge in antisemitism in '23. To be honest with you all, after spending years on Chinese internet, I just can't stand regular Chinese netizen calling Azov guys neo-Nazi, they should look into the nearest mirror.
The hybridization described above then contributes to a new evolution of Chinese online discourse over the Ukraine war. Chinese posters are expert trolls and partisans, but they have a fundamental lack of first hand knowledge regarding war in Ukraine. Thus, contact with foreign sources becomes essential. On Zhihu, there are several accounts that have access to twitter OSINT accounts (accounts that are highly regarded by professionals). The most notable being Ducling, who have been a staunch pro-Ukraine guy with liberal tendency. He made a reference to Emil Kastehelmi："The Russian 'Special Military Operation' is getting increasingly special, even after day 453" for an question about the Belgorod attack. He also made a cope compilation (the most favored tactic of Chinese pro-Ukraine accounts, known as 合订本, that collects all the past pro-Russian claims as a method of discrediting the pro-Russians. Often with great effect ) of claims surrounding Bakhmut. For people who can't understand the information presented, Chinese internet slang was often designed to evade censorship and is highly informal, so you shouldn't understand it at all. There's another OSINT guy called Suyi控, who made the best analysis of the Discord files ever. Chinese OSINT guys tend to have a boner for Syrskyi, me included. Memelords have also adopted some stuff from twitter, I remember seeing the Putin attending Nuremburg escorted by fellas wearing MP uniforms on the profile on one of the accounts. At the same time, there are also pro-Russians who use the John McBurgers of Ohio oblast under Zelensky's tweet as proof of Ukraine is losing. This tactic can be incredibly effective due to confirmation bias, and in many cases RT have used the exact same material to propagandize both Chinese and Americans.
Bilibili, due to the limitations mentioned in the first article, relies on cruder extraction. There is a guy called Deepstate-carry (Deepstate-搬运) who basically cargo-cult through deepstatemap's telegram. In my opinion, the best combat footages come from a guy called Okken sight (欧肯视线), who is a true neutral source regarding combat footage, he contain a slight Russian bias but his videos are neutral, which led to him being criticized by both pro-Russians and pro-Ukrainians. I'd recommend folks on this sub who drank too much pro-Ukraine vranyo to be tied on a chair forced to watch his videos of both Russian and Ukrainian combat losses to remove overt bias and complacency. Meanwhile there are other pro-Ukrainian accounts such as CarlPacho (卡尔帕乔) who uploads Ukrainian combat footages and is a pro-Ukraine guy himself, recently he got banned but he's got a backup account. Meanwhile there are people translating Battle Order's videos, such as a guy called 101eagle and a guy who's called Marine rifleman (四等人的步枪兵). On Bilibili the materials used are often of inferior quality such a a gal doing analysis who is called frosty leaves of a thousand spring (千秋霜叶), her sources include Weeb Union (HistoryLegends' pal) and Chuck Pfarrer. She's pro-Ukraine by the way.
Now we have talked through all the developments of the pro-Ukraine side, let's face the pro-Russian abyss. As mentioned before, Bilibili has access to inferior foreign materials. Meanwhile pro-Russians coopt the pro-Russian war blogger model. He marked a dangerous new development of pro-Russian messaging, the ability to use actual credible western sources to their advantage. Furthermore, there is another analyst called Mt. Guandong peasant Wangdaxi (关东山农民王大喜), who made a video detailing RUSI's latest report. He took great note of the adaptation by the Russian armed forces while dismissing the mentions of poor Russian morale as "western hubris", "illogical" and "political correctness". The Wangdaxi person is actually a protégé of sort of the person who claimed Russia is going to take Lviv (that guy deserves his own article), and it seems like now there's an advanced sect of pro-Russian who have access to information. There is a book I read in elementary school and the memory of reading it has always stuck with me. I also remember seeing it in the school library once and being excited and reading it again. However - I cannot remember the name of it to save my life and I can't remember the actual details too deeply. I do know that it had to do with a boy who somehow ended up dealing with Hades. The Cerberus was also in the book, taking a boat across the river sty (I am pretty sure). But the boy was from the "modern" world and somehow ended up in hades due to a portal of some sort found inside of a house. Im pretty sure it was raining when he discovered it. A BIG MAYBE that Plato or such was involved. The book has a dark atmosphere in my mind, and the color green or blue sticks out to me. I recall the book cover being white with some sort of Greek imagery. I could be mistaken.
There's no way this was a dream, because of multiple memories. I would say I am juxtaposing two different things, but this is such a specific stark memory. But maybe I'm fooling myself. Nobody ever has any idea what I am talking about.
So please, resolve one of the greatest mysteries of my adult life. What the hell was that book that seemed to have meant so much to me as a younger kid.
