Hey everyone,
First, I feel like I should say that I came to Harry Potter via the movies, not the books. The books came out when I was the perfect age to read them, and so many of my friends were into them and went to the midnight releases and everything, but I just couldn't get into the books as a kid. It wasn't until I married a lovely woman who loved the series that I agreed to watch the movies.
My wife and I are both "book people," and she was surprised that I hadn't been able to get into the books, seeing as I'd enjoyed the movies. So, all these years later, I gave them another shot.
After this second attempt, I became very curious. What would the die-hard fans add, change, or elaborate on, should they suddenly find themselves magically capable of rewriting them?
Are there any side plots you would flesh out? Characters that you felt weren't always consistent? Things that came up in later books that you would set up differently in the earlier titles?
Give me your lists!

Just watched Across the Spider-Verse. Surprised by the ending, but I'm already planning on rewatching the movie in theaters again. So good.
I just have questions around the "canon events" that are ultimately the cause of all the conflict in the story. Take note: I'm looking for answers that Miguel would give.

1. Does a police captain close to a Spider-Person always have to die?
2. If #1 is true, did Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and Peter B. Parker experience that? Could it be that we, the audience, just haven't seen a captain they were close to die yet?
3. Was Gwen's dad going to die because he was going to be / was already a captain? Was that part of why Gwen was relieved that her dad said he quit being a cop?
4. Why does Miles need to lose his dad when he's already lost his uncle?

For #4, I think that's the question the movie wants the audience to ask. Why do we deem trauma like an Uncle Ben death so important to a Spider-Person's character? People would probably say that Peter Parker not getting what he wants is integral to his character. Peter B. Parker said to Miles something like, "The bad things that happen to us make us." Probably not as sad as that, but I remember finding what he said to be toxic. At least in real life, trauma should not be what defines you.

So, I watched Spider-Verse on opening night. Great movie, I loved it. But it also left me with some questions.
Namely, the importance of the number 42 in these movies.
So, we know about Earth-42, right? The universe that didn’t get it’s Spider-Man. Instead, the spider that was supposed to bite that universe’s Miles Morales instead bit the Miles we know. But that number, 42, appears in another place.
The lottery ball that got Miles into Visions Academy.
In the opening moments of Into the Spider-Verse, we see that ball with the number 42 on it. The ball that essentially kickstarted the movie’s events.
This number, however, has one more, much more well known meaning.
In “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, there’s a very well known quote that says that the answer to life, the universe, and everything, is 42.
Now where have we heard that number before? 🤔
Jokes aside, I think the repeated inclusion of this number could help us predict the plot of Beyond the Spider-Verse. What if, the multiverse was trying to help our Miles become Spider-Man this whole time? That would explain why Miles was chosen to attend Visions Academy, which led to Miles meeting Gwen and having that talk with Aaron about expectations, also leading to Miles getting bitten by Earth-42’s radioactive spider.
This also fits narratively, as it would show that Miguel wasn’t necessarily correct in that Miles wasn’t supposed to be Spider-Man.
Also, just a little thing I’d like to add, but what if it was Cosmic Spider-Man pulling the strings, or webs if you will, for Miles to become Spider-Man and save the Multiverse from the Spot? What if Miles and the Spot’s creations were destined to happen, and Miles is destined to beat him?
That’s my theory on Across the Spider-Verse. They really went all out on this movie, and if Beyond the Spider-Verse is as good, we may have one of the best trilogies in cinema.

Ignoring Rey for reasons… who is the real chosen one, Anakin or Luke. For years, I thought Anakin as he seemed to be the obvious choice, but now I’m leaning more towards Luke. Here are both their resumes from what came to my mind:
Anakin Skywalker - First to be referred to as the chosen one - Directly destroyed Sidious - Was able to control the daughter and the son in the Mortis arc - Anakin was not a traditional Jedi, yet clearly proved himself to be the most powerful (Obi-Wan only won TWICE because battle IQ)
Luke Skywalker - In Rebels, when Maul asks “is he the chosen one” Obi-Wan answers “He is.” - Both Kenobi and Ahsoka removed a part of Vader’s mask with their lightsabers, but only Luke was able to remove the whole mask through choosing peace - Luke in many ways represents the way the Jedi lost, his connections make him stronger
I really believe either interpretation fits, that’s why I love both these characters so much. The first six movies worked so well together and this question has been on my mind for a few weeks now.

I have been concepualizing a new character and wanted to know if there were any classes, races or anything that lent themselves well to the study of aberrations.
When I first started creating the character they were your typical child NPC that a party adopts who has now grown up. The twist was that the child was a firbolg that was kidnapped and taken to the underdark and the party was an all gnome troop who rescue him as part of his quest but forget to actually return him for several years so he developed a bunch of weird quirks like being a circle of spores Druid and has a more stereotypical gnome personality tempered with a firbolg slowness.
I was also going to give him a quirk of having a fascination with aberrations (or magical beasts) because of how many he saw from his experiences in the underdark (e.g. your traumatized by a horror movie as a kid and and now you love horror as an adult) so I was wondering if there is anything I can look at to give him some game mechanics that reflect this.
Im just starting to research in this new direction so I’m not sure where to start but if there is some way I can be a Druid who exclusively has knowledge of an turns into aberrations/magical beasts at the cost of knowing about more mundane creatures or a ranger who can hunters mark these creatures this is more what I’m leaning towards.
Any other classes or even race suggestions for what to look up and where to start would be welcome

I am looking for a new SSD.I am comparing the Samsung Evo 870 500 GB and Transcend 230s 512 GB atm
These two seem to be the only option for my budget, and as I have no need for any larger (only light browsing, downloading and watching movies). I am looking for a drive that would last me for quite some time.It would be both a boot and "main" ssd. Also, no NVME/M2 -slot so SATA is only option.
Now here's the problem I have heard allot of bad things about the Samsung Evo 870 failing so I am skeptical about buying it as I'm from a third world country so it's almost impossible to claim a warranty in case something goes wrong.
Also about the Transcend 230s I'm skeptical about buying it as it's not a well known brand. And I fear that I may get something that may be lower in quality and might die quickly. And the transcend software isn't as good as Samsung's Magician. Also feature wise the Transcend one is inferior to the Samsung. But on the other hand I also am skeptical of buying the evo because of it's failing problem.
So what do you guys suggest which one should I go with and why?

Nobody knows. So when my parents and friends sometimes tease me to reconsider him, I just brush it off and say it was a toxic relationship. But they will never know the extent of what he’s done. I used to cry thinking about how corrupted I had allowed myself to be.
It frustrates me how naive I was. I thought it was true love, when really, it was the fear of being lonely interspersed with the elation of being overcome with passion for the first time.
I hope one day, I can let it all out. If I get married, I hope my future husband would forgive me. But right now, I’m glad I stopped myself then. I finally put myself first.

Now that Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has come to an emotional close with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel fans everywhere have the midpoint of the Infinity Saga to look forward to with Phase 5. Projects like Wakanda Forever and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) have certainly set a high bar for the follow-up Phase to reach, but already it appears to be an extremely exciting line-up of movies and shows. I don't hate Miles as a character, I really liked him in ITSV (Haven't seen Across yet so can't comment on that), but I still just don't really know how to feel about him.
In general I hate the trope he falls under. Don't know what you'd call is, but it's when a character dies and another steps in to basically fill the same role. The only other example that comes to mind for me is Rodimus replacing Optimus in Transformers. And I fucking hate this trope.
Generally I feel like this trope is almost never done well cause of things like the new character being too similar to the old one for example or not bringing anything solid to the table, but the main issue for me is that in the end I don't want this new guy, I want the old one. That's the character I formed an attachment to. That's always gonna cause a bitter opinion on the new guy, because he's got some major shoes to fill and sometimes that shoes are practically impossible to fill for me
That being said, I don't think Miles is a terrible character (at least in ITSV, feel like he still has to prove himself in the games tbh and I dunno jack about comic Miles) and you could argue he doesn't even fall under this trope that much (again, at least in ITSV). I like Miles, but I love Peter, he's my favourite superhero and has been so for all my life. So I think when arguably the best Spider-Man movie has him not as the main lead (Not saying he's underused, I think Peter B is one of the best takes on the character), I just feel kinda eh about it and I think it's the main reason why I was never as pumped as I was for the MCU movies
TLDR: I think in the end it's just a stupid petty nitpicky thing that boils down to: -Peter Parkers Spiderman = my fav superhero -Arguably the best Spiderman movie = main protagonist is not Peter
Is this post kinda pointless? Yeah. It's not like Peter is underused in any way, that being said I have my issues with MCU Peter and just really wish there was a definitive mainstream Peter around. That's a different opinion though, although it does tie into this one a little
