Perimeter is an initiator (should it be a sentinel?)
Perimeter is an agent from Israel, he can only use abilities if he reclaims his protractor
his protractor is sliver. He can claim his protractor across the map. His abilities can be thrown on to surfaces
Ability 1: Radar
if you get into the radar you would hear a ticking noise for 3 seconds, if you do not exit the radar your presence can be detected. Remember you have to reclaim your protractor from any surface you plant it on.
Ability 2: Fortress
It can be thrown on yourself or your teammates giving them 60 shields. You have to reclaim it back from your teammate or their bodies.
Ability 3: Markdown
It is a grenade that sticks to walls similar to a mine. If an enemy gets in the radar of the grenade, it will stick to them like a cypher trip and if not broken within 5 seconds, the grenade will explode dealing 50 health.
Ultimate: Trail
you would have to place the protractor on the floor, similar to a kj lockdown. After being placed it will fire out tracker darts through the radar to any enemies on the radar and then the enemies will be marked on the minimap with a red star. You would be able to look at the sky to see a red beam where the enemies are. Radar covers half the map

2023.06.09 10:15 Babosathaa I tried my luck today.. ( trigger warning: SA )
I’m spoiled enough as it is… girls, I have 2 SDs and one genuine SBF. . Today I got too greedy.
I went in cuddlecomfort. com for the first time in six months . Maybe more . My rate is 250 an hour to cuddle platonically as the website requires. PLATONIC is something EVERY member has to agree to before booking a session.
I chatted with a POT cuddler and he seemed nice. His profile was cute, his reviews were nice enough. scratch that, reviews were great actually. He had messaged me asking for a three hour cuddle appointment. 750, he said . That’s what I spent the last 2 days in outfit shopping for my upcoming trip with my SBF. My SBF spoiled me for it, but I thought, why not make up for what I’ve already spent ? I’m free today, why not! that way, I feel like I’ve spent no money at all!!
Fast money is easy, addicting. If you’re pretty and well experienced, fast money can be fucking amazing. I have a job, three men to ask for money from, yet I got too.. curious .
I vetted him as I usually do and he was actually staying in an expensive 5 star hotel so nothing was off aside from that and the rest of what I knew about him. When I got to the hotel, I noticed he looked like a toad.. nice enough though that I thought: for a platonic cuddle, this isn’t bad. I Can deal with it for three hours.
He wasn’t into conversation though, I learned pretty early on.. soon enough tho.. this is where it all went wrong.. he changes into his PJs.. they smell bad.
Him: “ where’s your accent from?“
Me: “ I’m Mexican . ( I provide some conversation about where I’m from) “
Him: “ I love Mexican .”
Me: “ thanks! If I had to say I had a type, it would be Italian or ethnically Jewish men.”
Him: “ well.. this is where I say I’m jewish and Italian .”
i force a laugh
He switches so he can be the big spoon. His arm is under my breasts but his thumb is close to my nipple, so he starts rubbing it. Or close to. I always end up moving so he’s away from my nipple .
Eventually he starts telling me
“ do you always wear this many clothes ?”
I explain I wear a lot of compression clothes because I’m always cold . This isn’t bad. It’s a long sleeve wrapped cotton Brandy Melville shirt, my cleavage is exposed a little bit. Im covered enough to cuddle. It’s supposed to be platonic .
Him: “ you should take your top off “ ( I’m wearing a cami under my wrap top)
Me : “ my bag is too small to put it in there .”
Him: “ your clothes are so tiny. You’re so tiny. It’s fine.”
I want to cry. I’m a little scared. Like a deer in headlights .
After a while, he keeps rubbing right under my nipple. I’m so uncomfortable and want to cry. I pull away. It’s been an hour and a half.
I ask “ is it okay if I leave early?” I’m fucking scared . This man is twice my size .
“ sure. “ he says. “ I wasn’t vibing anyway.”
He goes into the safe. Gives me $200.
I feel violated .
This is supposed to be a platonic, short, easy cuddle for 700.
I feel so dirty, being touched by this ugly fucking toad. I haven’t been in cuddle comfort and will never be again. It seemed easy and short and quick and he had good reviews.
I’m baffled. Left crying, feeling dirty. Feeling greedy.
I’m taking a break from everything for a long, long time. .. and I’m gonna keep hiding under my SBF’s wing.

Until now you weren't able to get audio in the SideQuest Stream feature, but as of three weeks ago the Quest 2 could finally do this due to the android 12 upgrade in v51 firmware, and that 3 weeks ago scrcpy released version 2 of their software which now supports audio out of the box on Android 11+! For anyone who streams or records long gameplay sessions this is an awesome update to get. No more need for audio cables, or bluetooth transmitters/receivers. Yay! Grab the latest version here! SideQuest In-VR: Custom Homes from inside VR is back! Use SideQuest inside your headset for an all round easier experience! As users started to get v51 on their devices we realized that some features broke on the SideQuest in-VR app. After we got over cursing Meta for breaking some stuff, we worked hard to get the app working at its best again. One of the biggest problems was that custom homes no longer worked when installed this way and could only be installed using the good old SideQuest desktop app. I'm happy to say that we have now fixed that issue and custom homes are now working again so feel free to dive into your favorite custom homes from inside the headset again. We also fixed a number of issues with the search an d filtering system that we also broken in the v51 update. Grab the latest version here! That's all for now! Thanks from the whole SideQuest team! ❤️ submitted by shakamone to Quest3 [link] [comments] |

2023.06.09 09:28 larryking923 What is a demon?
There’s a few theories on what exactly a demon is. 1) The Book of Enoch which was found in the Dead Sea scrolls says that 200 angels were sent to watch over and guide humans. The angels started noticing the women were looking attractive and each wanted to take a wife for themselves.
Samyaza, the leader was told and he told them that he felt like this would all come back on him if they defied God’s orders. They all made a pact to where they would all take the blame. They take wives and have children. The children (Nephalim) are half angel/half human and are huge. The humans tried to feed the giants but couldn’t keep up. They start eating all the cattle, livestock, animals and start eating humans when there’s nothing left. They start acting like gods and making humans worship and sacrifice to them.
The spirits of the humans cried out to heaven for justice and God sends a powerful angel to earth to gather up the Nephalim and make them turn against each other until they’re all dead. The angel tells the fallen angels that for their defiance of God they would watch their children die a human death but their spirits would forever roam the earth and be known as evil spirits. God removed their good angelic qualities and put a veil around them so they wouldn’t be seen. God cut off the fallen angels and their children’s souls from being able to feel him or talk to him. It’s the spirits of the Nephalim that we know today as demons.
They’ve taken many different forms and names throughout time adjusting to that time period.
2) Nag Hammadi library These are a mixture of papers found in Egypt and contains some things that are from some of the disciples so it has to be taken into consideration.
In the beginning it was just God. Formless, nameless, invisible, unlimited power. He creates Jesus who the angels call the ancient one. God creates a whole lot of different spirits. Different types with different personalities and powers. Aeons, archons, angels and lets them realize on their own what they are. They come to the conclusion that they are from a greater source and they are powerful. Jesus makes himself known to them and teaches them about God. The angels call God the invisible one, the ineffable, nameless. God eventually makes himself known to them and they are floored and awestruck by how powerful he is. They immediately bow and honor his holiness.
One spirit named Pistus Sophia had the power of creativity and wisdom. She looks into the abyss and creates all the dark spirits. Many different types. She goes down to let them know what they are and where they came from and they turn on her. They steal her power and turn her into a prostitute. Who we know as Satan takes her power to create and now he can create. Satan thinks he’s the god of this world and who knows how many dark spirits he’s created. We eventually get to humans and the Book of Enoch.
Satan was known to have taught sorcery so maybe he can create demons without having to make them through humans. I think it may be a combination of both.
3) The fallen angels are known to have crossbred animals with humans. I’ve seen 5 that looked more like some mutated animal than human. In fact, they didn’t look anything at all like a human. Are the fallen angels the Annunaki? Who knows? There is evidence that the Annunaki tampered with our dna but the facts point to an alien civilization coming in craft. Spirits don’t need spacecraft but that doesn’t mean they can’t take those forms and act like them.
We’re dealing with powers beyond our understanding. Good, neutral and bad. There’s no timeline in any kind of scripture or anywhere else to when things began so we have to look at science. Earth is estimated to be between 2.3 to 4 billion years old. It’s really hard telling what all has lived here and still is. I’m not saying that all spirits are demons, they’re not. I’m not even going to say that all demons are evil because I don’t know. I only know what I’ve experienced.
Demons are spirits that have actual magical abilities. I’ve never felt a good power but I’m not going to say they can’t do it. They surprise me all the time with different things they can do.
We should respect them but not fear them. We are just as powerful as demons but we have to believe in and work on our spiritual journey to understand that. The power of the mind and pure will is an amazing thing.
They are their own entity like us. They are fully conscious. It’s not like a ghost where they can only manifest or mess with physical reality for a short amount of time. They have their own energy. They don’t eat, sleep or have their own lives. We are their lives, they enjoy toying with us. It’s time we toy back.

2023.06.09 08:43 76TheBlueRoseCode303 Yellow brick road conspiracy... something I wrote about it
The old gold road used to lead to what? The city of gold the the city is whose? The yellow brick road don’t lead to a city its the road that runs through a cemetery.
The man behind the curtain I hear his laughter you won’t like what you see I am certain.
the road to god to the city of god the symbols and signs the words all twisted. On both sides of the street he walks selling empty promises.
the yellow brick road leads to gangster city to me looks more like a cemetery look to the right and left of you tell me what you see. I see crypts bodies and blood behind the curtain I hear laughter.
I hope you know when your dead he will bury you right next to them. The puppet master pulling strings divide and slaughter everything.
A six a five seven or four maybe it’s eleven 11s like to sides of the street he walks on both feet. loves it when brothers kill and cause sin. to him it matters not the color or the flag that you wave to him a true patriot just shoots at what he’s paid to shoot at.
Satans like a guiding star leading you to his city the city of the dead has no gold just tombs stones and coffins souls lead astray with lies and a empty promise. The yellow brick road is not just that the governments also walk it. Right side left side red or blue. your not paid ask questions soldier. To who are you Salutin?
Behind the curtain I hear laughter once again. How to create a mindless human drone the illusion of power and stories of fiction. then pay them just enough to stay make them idolize their own destruction. lie about everything and tell them its truth say they are illuminated. Feed them with forbidden fruit drug them into illuminations that whisper false information make the ones who need it believe they are righteous.
One is loud and always lyin one knows truth and stays silent. Ones story always changes other one no ones seen it.
bind them to the darkness with a blinding light. paint the good as the bad with a collective mirage tell each person a different story that changes just enough. make sure they don’t know the truth about god hide his story he’s name destroy his family first. Break those that can really see draw them into despair frame them as the evil ones paint them in the devils image.
Make them think satan is D-OG that the deceiver is the savior.
Read between the lines find what’s hidden inside read the real lines read between the lies.
Real eyes realize real lies. The real rise
the blueprint we saw we forgot it on purpose they do not know some are here for a higher purpose. Can’t set a trap with the tools you were given. Numbers, signs ,synchronicity, color schemes can’t part the sea without the sea. it’s all been seen through their eyes i let you in mine you didn’t let me in yours All is known for all was given. I’ll pretend I’m broken gotta forget to know myself or at least pretend I’m asleep I’ll walk with you to hell escort you their myself. running figure eights again doing the same thing expecting a different outcome. Remember yesterday? Same plan different day. Some can’t be saved.

2023.06.09 08:02 Rzaa3 Itinerary Check - 10 days (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka)
Hello! So I'm going to be visiting Japan with my family (my parents and my younger sister) in late November this year. I've created a rough idea of what we'd like to do and would love to hear some suggestions, mainly help on whether this itinerary is going to be possible or not. This is my first time creating an itinerary and also our first time going to Japan.
Day 1 (Tokyo - Arrival)
- Arrival at 6pm
- Go to hotel (not yet booked)
- Since we arrived relatively late, we will just use this day to settle in and sort all the necessary things (pocket wi-fi, find local convenience store, money conversion etc.)
Day 2 (Tokyo)
- 9:00am - Tokyo Imperial Palace
- 11:00am - Asakusa
- 4:00pm - Ueno Park/Ameyoko Street
- 6:00pm - Akihabara
- 8:00/8:30pm - Go back to hotel
Day 3 (Tokyo)
Day 4 (Tokyo)
- 9:00am - Meiji Jingu
- 10:30am - Yoyogi Park
- 12:00pm - Explore Shibuya
- 4:00pm - Explore Shinjuku
- 8:00pm - Go back to hotel
Day 5 (Tokyo to Kyoto)

Day 10 (Final day and flight home)
- On this day our flight will be at 1:30pm, meaning we won't be able to do much.
Would really appreciate it if I can get some advice on whether or not these times are reasonable or not. I'm not sure if I've given enough/too little time for specific places. For day 7, I'm struggling a little as Arashiyama would most likely take us a full day, but I'm not really sure what else we would be able to do. My parents would love to go to the Sagano Scenic Railway, but I'm not sure on how to fit it in. It's also a little difficult for me for day 7, as I would have to choose between Arashiyama or Northern Kyoto (Philosopher's Walk, Kinkaku-ji etc.). Thank you guys in advance!

2023.06.09 07:59 I_confess_nothing Stop Glorifying Taj/Oberoi/Other 5 stars and feeling insecure.
Every few days, there's a post. Someone is asking from how they should dress to how the valet process works before they go to Taj Mahal Hotel/ 5 star.
These posts are cringe. If you have the money, walk in like a king. They are in the hospitality business for God's sake. They are supposed to serve you. If you don't know how something works, ask.
They will never make you feel like you don't belong there. If they make you feel like that, that's on them. If you have the money to pay for it, you belong there. If any hotel makes you feel otherwise, they don't belong in the hospitality industry and can eat shit.

2023.06.09 07:27 KissingClitsInTheBay 29 [M4F] #SouthBay / Anywhere! - Seeking needy Pillow Princesses 💕 Enthusiastic, sensual Switch wants to worship and adore You 🔥Lay back, relax, and let me take care of You 🙏
Greetings, my dearest! 💘
Simply put: I'm absolutely fiending to provide You with pleasure, attention, and bliss til youve had Your fill.! ♥️
I lustfully await that piercing gaze that we share when you look down at me... Shakingly anticipating the feeling of my tongue finally making contact with You; My hands exploring and rubbing You from head to toe.
I want your toes to curl, your legs to tremble, your entire body and existence to quake; Awating my next decision on how to make You feel.
Seconds seamlessly transform into hours; Every winking moment melded together in a hazy bliss... I want our experience to affect your days, your routine. You sitting at your desk, out running errands, doing work. Laying in bed, scrolling on your phone....
I want you to feel your pulse down there. When your body tries to recall the feeling, the sensations that you felt during our encounter.
And, the same goes for me and the days of my own. Thinking about You, recalling our time together; I want to be a barely functional mess...!
I lean towards the Switch-y side... 💕 So, if You need me be more dominant 🔥 and pin Your wrists down to the bed, administer some spanks and gripping before/during/after I service You, etc...
Or, if You want to unleash some pent-up dom feels, yourself..! 🤐 I can also be more submissive, and be sooo good for You, while You use me. And my mouth, tongue; And sit and use my face until you've had your fill. 💝
Important Things! (Was a great show on Comedy Central! Also, lists are awesome!):
• This experience is all about You! I want to make You feel and know that You are the very center of the universe when you're spending time with me ❤️ I want to cater to every/any one of Your needs to the best of my abilities! 🙏💕
• Absolutely NO reciprocation needed and NO actual sex/PIV intercourse. (Upon request and conversation: perhaps 🤔) BUT: Strictly cute, intimate cuddles; and hand/mouth usage only!👄🖐 🥄 🥄
• I can host You in an upscale hotel/suite 🏨 You're my pillow princess!!! I truly want to pamper You in the heights of luxury and relaxation. Plus, air conditioning and random hotel TV shows/movies, amirite?! 💕 (Again, upscale locations only!)
• Before/During/After Care, Cute/spicy pillow talk, and Cuddles/Spooning, Massages and Rubs of all kinds will gladly (and enthusiastically!!!) be provided upon request! ❣️
• If no 'care' is desired, I also have no problem with making this a "cum-n-go" situation; Where You cum all the times You need before Your departure from me. 🤷🏽♂️
• Privacy and Discretion guaranteed ✅💯 I'm here for You and Your needs! And am not looking to interfere with any relationships/arrangements you have going on..! I am, however, more than open to meeting up with You again; If my services leave a nice impression...😌
• I absolutely ADORE feedback; Both verbal and non-verbal!!! So moaners, loud ones, body quakers, and (squirters) to the front! 🤷🏽♂️😅 Don't be shy!!! Let it ALL out when You're with me 😏
Whether it's a 'dead bedroom' situation... Or a case of the person in your life "just not doing it right"... To single ladies looking to break a dry spell... To ladies just looking for good ol' general indulgence!
I'm here for You🙏 Your bliss and delight are truly my own! Leading to this beautiful, endless, infinite cycle of giving and receiving 💕 Let's experience it, together!!! ✅♥️
I know what I'm doing; And I can't wait until You've finally tried the difference between someone who merely guesses and scoffs at your needs and pleasure........
And someone who is truly there for You and knows what they're doing. 💯🔥
The pillow princess experience You thought never existed, is out there..! You just haven't experienced me yet 🤤❣️Let's change that, ASAP!
Some random, quick stuff About Me:
• 29 M , South Bay based, Single 😛, DDF, Expert cuddler and cunnilinguist, Orally fixated..! Gives hella good rubs and massages; Great kisser 😘

2023.06.09 06:38 autobuzzfeedbot Even If You Hate Sports, These 11 Shocking And Unbelievable Facts Will Make You Read To The Very End
- The Pirates' Dock Ellis was tripping on acid when he threw a no-hitter against the Padres on June 12, 1970. The right hander mistakenly believed he wasn't scheduled to pitch until the next day, so he dropped acid with a friend around noon. Two hours later, he realized he was supposed to pitch THAT NIGHT.
- Monica Seles was the number one ranked women's tennis player in the world when, during a match at the 1993 Hamburg Open, an obsessed fan of rival tennis star Steffi Graf leaned onto the court and stabbed Seles in the back with a boning knife. The knife plunged an inch and a half deep between Seles's shoulder blades. Thankfully, Seles had leaned forward to drink water a second before the attack, saving herself from much more severe injuries. She was raced to the hospital and released a few days later.
- Eddie Gaedel — a little person who stood 3'7” tall — became the shortest player in major league history on August 19, 1951 when he stepped to the plate for the St. Louis Browns against the Detroit Tigers. The Browns were a bad team (they went 52–102 in 1951) with an owner, Bill Veeck, who pulled a lot of stunts to get fans into the stadium. Gaedel's appearance was one of them.
- Manon Rhéaume became the first woman to play in the National Hockey League in 1992 when she played goaltender for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a pre-season game against the St. Louis Blues. She played one quarter, allowing two goals and blocking seven shots. While she never made a regular-season NHL roster, she appeared in another pre-season game for the Lightning the following year, and played in the minor leagues between 1992 and 1997, becoming the first woman to appear in a professional regular season game.
- Nearly five decades earlier, Toni Stone not only became the first woman to play in the Negro Leagues, but the first woman to be a regular on a big league professional baseball team. She signed to play second base for the 1953 Indianapolis Clowns (Hank Aaron was a member of the team the previous year), and played in 50 games, hitting a respectable .243. She played with the Kansas City Monarchs the following year before retiring to become a nurse.
- Freddy Adu — a 14-year-old soccer prodigy from Ghana — become the youngest person ever to play for a major league sports team when he took the field on April 3, 2004 for D.C. United against the San Jose Earthquakes. Two weeks later, he became the youngest player to score a goal in Major League Soccer history. Despite his young start and comparisons to soccer legend Pelé, Adu went on to have an un-extraordinary journeyman career, playing on 15 different teams over the next couple decades.
- On the flip side, the legendary Hall of Fame pitcher Satchel Paige became the oldest person ever to appear in a major league game when — at age 58 — he took the mound for the Kansas City A's against the Boston Red Sox.
- On March 2, 1962, basketball legend Wilt Chamberlain scored a staggering 100 points in one game for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks. This is perhaps sports' most unbreakable record, with only Kobe Bryant coming anywhere close to matching it, when — 44 years later in 2006 — he scored a comparatively paltry 81 points.
- In a spring training game on March 24, 2001, the Diamondbacks' Hall of Fame pitcher Randy Johnson hurled a 98-miles-per-hour fastball that hit and killed a bird that had the misfortune of flying into its path. The batter, San Francisco Giants' outfielder Calvin Murray, told the Athletic, "My initial reaction was the ball had exploded. I thought it was a practical joke or something, that he threw some tricked-up exploding baseball. It just took a minute for it to process."
- Amazingly, fellow Hall of Famer Dave Winfield had a similar experience in 1983. The Yankee was warming up in the outfield in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays when he threw a ball that hit and killed a seagull.
- Lastly, Ed Head — a left-handed pitching phenom — was just 15 years old when tragedy struck. He was riding a bus with his arm around his girlfriend's shoulder when the bus collided with another oncoming bus, knocking him unconscious. When he came to, he saw his girlfriend was dead and that his left arm had been ripped from its socket and was dangling by a thread. After a long surgery, doctors managed to avoid amputating his left arm, but told him he would never pitch again. Rather than give up, Head began the long process of teaching himself to throw right handed.

2023.06.09 06:13 alegaltest How I got into listening to the Grateful Dead...
I remember getting From The Mars Hotel from the local library when I was in early high school. Then I got American Beauty. Then I got Live/Dead. I used to get DMB, Phish, and SCI CDR B&Ps but did not get into a lot of live Dead until the Internet Archive had shows. I found a list of concerts I went to from 2000-2013. Since then I have seen one Levi's Stadium Fare Thee Well type shows with Trey on guitar, 5 Dead and Company Shows, 2 Santana, and 1 Bob Dylan. Here is a link to a Bob Dylan show in Louisville I recorded recently. A Santana show in Evansville is on the same youtube account. There is a BB King June 2013 Evansville show I recorded on Sugarmegs and a 2013 Dark Star Orchestra Bloomington, Indiana show on
archive.org (I used to work for the Internet Archive in SF in 2008.)

2023.06.09 05:46 recentlyquitsmoking2 Hitchens on Pat Robertson
“As the year 2000 approaches, it is a safe bet that we will be treated to more superstition and barbarism of the [Pat] Robertson sort, and that other unscrupulous demagogues will try to canalize the fears and doubts of those who have been let down by the education system.” [“Minority Report,” Nation, 10/04/86]
“Whether you are a creationist like Pat Robertson, or a Catholic like Pat Buchanan, or a materialist believer in ‘Natural Law’ like [Harry] Jaffa and others, you can’t avoid the salient fact that the Creator, or the Divinity, or Nature, or Evolution, has evidently mandated that there be a certain quite large number of homosexuals.” [“Bloom’s Way,” Nation, 5/15/00]
"The disappointment was, and to me remains, acute. Within hours, the “reverends” Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell had announced that the immolation of their fellow creatures was a divine judgment on a secular society that tolerated homosexuality and abortion. At the solemn memorial service for the victims, held in the beautiful National Cathedral in Washington, an address was permitted from Billy Graham, a man whose record of opportunism and anti-Semitism is in itself a minor national disgrace. His absurd sermon made the claim that all the dead were now in paradise and would not return to us even if they could. I say absurd because it is impossible even in the most lenient terms to believe that a good number of sinful citizens had not been murdered by al-Qaeda that day. And there is no reason to believe that Billy Graham knew the current whereabouts of their souls, let alone their posthumous desires. But there was also something sinister in hearing detailed claims to knowledge of paradise, of the sort that bin Laden himself was making on behalf of the assassins." - God Is Not Great
"The suspicion that a calamity might also be a punishment is further useful in that it allows an infinity of speculation. After New Orleans, which suffered from a lethal combination of being built below sea level and neglected by the Bush administration, I learned from a senior rabbi in Israel that it was revenge for the evacuation of Jewish settlers from the Gaza Strip, and from the mayor of New Orleans (who had not performed his own job with exceptional prowess) that it was god’s verdict on the invasion of Iraq. You can nominate your own favorite sin here, as did the “reverends” Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell after the immolation of the World Trade Center. In that instance, the proximate cause was to be sought and found in America’s surrender to homosexuality and abortion. (Some ancient Egyptians believed that sodomy was the cause of earthquakes: I expect this interpretation to revive with especial force when the San Andreas Fault next gives a shudder under the Gomorrah of San Francisco.) When the debris had eventually settled on Ground Zero, it was found that two pieces of mangled girder still stood in the shape of a cross, and much wondering comment resulted. Since all architecture has always involved crossbeams, it would be surprising only if such a feature did not emerge. I admit that I would have been impressed if the wreckage had formed itself into a Star of David or a star and crescent, but there is no record of this ever having occurred anywhere, even in places where local people might be impressed by it. And remember, miracles are supposed to occur at the behest of a being who is omnipotent as well as omniscient and omnipresent. One might hope for more magnificent performances than ever seem to occur." - God Is Not Great
"The same can be said of the King epoch. The southern churches returned to their old ways after Reconstruction, and blessed the new institutions of segregation and discrimination. It was not until after the Second World War and the spread of decolonization and human rights that the cry for emancipation was raised again. In response, it was again very forcefully asserted (on American soil, in the second half of the twentieth century) that the discrepant descendants of Noah were not intended by god to be mixed. This barbaric stupidity had real-world consequences. The late Senator Eugene McCarthy told me that he had once urged Senator Pat Robertson—father of the present television prophet—to support some mild civil rights legislation. “I’d sure like to help the colored,” came the response, “but the Bible says I can’t.” The entire self-definition of “the South” was that it was white, and Christian. This is exactly what gave Dr. King his moral leverage, because he could outpreach the rednecks. But the heavy burden would never have been laid upon him if religiosity had not been so deeply entrenched to begin with. As Taylor Branch shows, many of King’s inner circle and entourage were secular Communists and socialists who had been manuring the ground for a civil rights movement for several decades and helping train brave volunteers like Mrs. Rosa Parks for a careful strategy of mass civil disobedience, and these “atheistic” associations were to be used against King all the time, especially from the pulpit. Indeed, one result of his campaign was to generate the “backlash” of white right-wing Christianity which is still such a potent force below the Mason-Dixon line." - God Is Not Great
"The Leader of the Free World was frequently photographed in the company of “end-times” Protestant fundamentalists and biblical literalists like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson: tethered gas-balloons of greed and cynicism once written up by Martin Amis as “frauds of Chaucerian proportions.” The president found time to burble with such characters about the fulfillment of ancient “prophecy” and the coming Apocalypse. He also speculated drivellingly that the jury might yet return an open verdict on the theory of evolution. He was married to a woman who employed a White House astrologer. He said that the Abraham Lincoln Battalion had fought on “the wrong side” in the civil war in Spain, which logically meant that there had been a “right” side and that it was the Francoist one. (When the last attempt at a fascist coup was made in Spain, in the early 1980s, the Reagan administration was asked for comment, again in the person of the Strangelovian freak Alexander Haig, who flabbergastingly said that the armed attack on Spain’s elected parliament was a purely internal Spanish affair.) With Haig, Reagan also gave permission to Menachem Begin and Ariel Sharon to invade Lebanon in 1982, and to take their incursion as far as Beirut to do the dirty work of the Catholic Phalange. In order to gratify Chancellor Helmut Kohl of West Germany, Reagan agreed to visit an SS cemetery in Bitburg (Ich bin ein Bitburger) and, as if that in itself was not bad enough, to declare that those interred there were not just “victims,” but victims “just as much” as the civilians they had slaughtered. He made stupid, alarming on-air jokes about pre-emptively bombing the USSR. He pardoned the convicted FBI agents Felt and Miller, who had been prosecuted and fired for illegal break-ins and wiretaps directed at the anti-war movement. In a really sweet irony, one of these men (Mark Felt), as I was to learn, had been the “Deep Throat” whose torpedoes had sent the previous elected Republican administration to the floor of the sea.*" - Hitch-22

2023.06.09 05:35 UnholyDemigod I roleplayed my last Rome 2 game. Here is the story
Rome 2 - Divide et Impera mod roleplay run
The year is 475 Ab urbe condita, and Res publica Romana is the growing power on the Italian peninsula. Not 10 years after the end of the Samnite Wars, we at still engaged with the Etruscans to our north, while Epirus at our south tests our resolve by encroaching on our borders. We must deal with these outsiders if we are to achieve our destiny. There is a dream that is Rome. It shall be realised.
476 AUC: Legio II Equestris, under command of newly appointed Legatus Lucius Julius Libo, finalises defeat of Etrutria. Shortly after, Pyrrhus of Epirus, after years of minor border skirmishes in southern Italia, invades and occupies as far inland as Cosentia. Legio II is redeployed to assist Legio I Italia. 478 AUC: after several battles ending in Roman victory, Pyrrhus is expelled from Italia. Despite heavy losses from the campaign, Legio II completes conquest of southern Italia 479 AUC: the Senate orders Legio II to northern Italy, to subdue the tribes in Cisalpine Gaul and to bring them into the Republic 480 AUC: cautious of Rome's rapidly growing role as a Mediterranean superpower, Carthage breaks diplomatic treaties and declares war on Rome. The Punic War has begun. Legio I is tasked with defending southern Italia. Legio III Gemina raised with intention of crossing Mare Tyrrhenum and invading Corsica et Sardinia 482 AUC: after far more losses than were expected, the tribes of the Po Valley have been subdued. All the land from the Alps to the sea now fall under Roman rule. Lucius Julius Libo and Legio II will occupy the area until it is assured there is no threat of rebellion 484 AUC: in the wake of years spent fighting Carthage, our military training and equipment has evolved. We have utilised tactics from our current and former enemies, while improving our strengths and casting aside our weaknesses. Years of war has turned us into a master of violence, and we will visit this violence upon all who would threaten Rome 485 AUC: years spent besieging the port of Karalis has borne fruit - the city is now ours, and with it, the province of Corsica et Sardinia. With Legio I and Legio II in Sikelia driving out the Carthaginian forces, Mare Tyrrhenum lies solely under Roman control. In 5 years of war we have driven Carthage out of Mare Nostrum and back to Africa. Plans are already being drawn up to invade 486 AUC: our invasion of Africa has paid off. Legio I Italica immediately marched onto Qart Hadasht, to strike at their power base and cut the head from the snake. After making camp in order to lay siege, the city's defenders sallied out and attacked. Despite devastating losses, we were victorious. The survivors retreated behind the city walls, but Legio II soon arrived to reinforce the siege, and our men stormed the walls. What warriors were left were no match, and the City of Carthage is ours. Legio III will soon make landfall to push west. Legio IV Minervia has been raised in Roma, where they will make for Massalia, to visit revenge for their betrayal of us during the siege of Medhlan 487 AUC: Legio IV Minervia has successfully besieged Massalia. After successive field battles, Gnaeus Cornelius Scipio marched on the city walls and began construction of siege equipment. Massalian allies attempted to aid them, but they too were defeated, following by the occupation of the city. Let all who know, to betray Rome is to condemn your civilisation 488 AUC: the province of Africa has been fully conquered by Legio II Equestris. The lands that brought Carthage their immense wealth will now swell our coffers instead. Despite the conquest being his doing, the Senate has appointed a Junian governor, instead of a fellow Julian. Suspecting bribery, Lucius Julius Libo begins to lose faith in the Republic he serves 490 AUC: Lucius Julius Libo has given up command of Legio II Equestris and returned to Roma. Petitioning the Senate to allow him to raise a new legion for the purpose of invasion of Gaul was met with success. The politicians of Rome are now so corrupt that an unjustified war can easily be put into motion. All it took was the lie that the Gauls bordering our new lands in Massalia were hostile, and that the lands to the north were fertile and rich with resources. The senate is too blind to see that with every battle won, Libo's influence in Roman politics grows 492 AUC: a Gallic tribe calling themselves the Arverni have attacked some of our scouts, and announced their intention to rid their forests of our presence. It seems that Libo's persuasions to the Senate were not without truth. A little more more leaning about the dangers of the Gauls uniting against, and the Senate has named him Dictator until the Arverni are dealt with. Lucius Julius Libo is now the most powerful man in Rome 493 AUC: Libo dispatches loyal senators to the African provinces under the guise of resolving financial troubles, while in reality, shifting loyalty from the Senate to himself. He already had the loyalty of the soldiers, now he is aiming for the people. 494 AUC: Carthage has been expelled from the African continent, after a successful siege of Tingis by Legio III Gemina. Upon arrival of the news in Rome, Lucius Julius Libo was recalled to Rome from Gaul to relinquish his powers as dictator. Despite the Gallic War still ongoing, the Senate was growing uneasy at Libo’s rapidly growing popularity, and used a weakened Carthage as justification to end his tenure. 495 AUC: Lucius Julius Libo returned to Roma, and was met with crowds of people, protesting against the demands of the Senate. In his service to Rome, Libo had saved the Republic numerous times, and Rome was still facing external threats. The crowd proclaimed Libo to be imperator, an act only previously done by a commander’s legion, but it was enough. The Senate agreed to grant him imperium perpetuum in return for relinquishing his role as dictator, to which Libo agreed. This everlasting power would grant him the ability to overrule the Senate with vetos, even consuls, and as such, historians consider this to be the first day of the Roman Empire. For the first time in 250 years, Rome was ruled by one man - Lucius Julius Libo Imperator. 497 AUC: Since the day Libo Imperator was granted everlasting imperium, he had taken great strides to improve the overall morale of the citizens of Rome by organising games and granting grain doles to the poorer members of society. Attending Senate meetings, he made sure to veto every bill that was put through without his prior knowledge. He prevented a list of enemies by compromising on many issues and joining their vote on bills he supported. He gained significant public support by making promises to rid the Republic (as the people of Rome still believed it to be) of political corruption, and then by delivering on this promise in steps, by exposing guilty senators. The size of the Senate began to shrink as he put through bills under the justification that that smaller it was, the less corruption there could be. Within 2 years it went from 370 senators to less than 100. His power continued to grow, but the people were happy. 498 AUC: Legio II Equestris, now under command of Gnaeus Julius Agrippa, has captured the last remaining stronghold of the Edetani, the final ally of the Carthaginians. With nobody to assist them, the end of the war is on the horizon. In capturing the city, the eastern coast of Iberia is entirely ours, completely enveloping the coastline of the western half of Mare Nostrum. Libo Imperator has grown bolder in his power, now requiring all bills passed to be finalised with his seal, and the words Imperium Romanum 499 AUC: with our legions pushed to their breaking point, and replacement recruits becoming more difficult to come by, Libo Imperator initiates a series of reforms, aimed at swelling the numbers with ease by removing the property requirements to join. Now, all who hold Roman citizenship will be eligible to serve her. With the state also supplying equipment, there is now uniformity amongst the legions. Gone are the old classifications, and replaced with general legionaries. Already we are seeing a large surge in recruitment across the Roman world, primarily from the lower classes looking for their chance at glory. 500 AUC: after 20 long years, the Punic War is over. Legio I besieged the city of Kartuba, awaiting reinforcements from Legio III, but the Carthaginians sallied out in an attempt to prevent being surrounded. After a decisive defeat in the field, there was no standing force left to defend to city, and our forces swept through, enslaving what civilians weren’t dead by the end of the day. As news of the victory spreads throughout Rome, a wave of nationalism follows it, with the people wanting to continue the expansion of our borders. Any nation that isn’t Rome is a potential enemy, and the senate, under the demands of Libo Imperator, fans the flames of this idea. Rome is about to embark of a series of conquests not seen since Alexander. Lucius Cornelius Scipio has been appointed commander of the Iberian forces, with the Legatus of each legion reporting to him. Quintus Trebellius Strabo will lead the conquest of Gaul, while Libo Imperator himself will take several legions into Germania. 502 AUC: Legio V Rapax sails across Mare Adriaticum to make landfall in Apollonia. Decades have passed since we pushed Epirus out of Italia, but inability to bring the war to them forced a peace between us. A peace that is now over. After many battles, Cornelius Scipio has conquered Iberia in its entirety. Rome now stretches all the way to Mare Tenebrosum. Upon their return to Rome, Scipio and his fellow Legates will be honoured with a Triumph. 503 AUC: Epirus is destroyed, their pitiful excuse for a kingdom overrun by Roman sword. Legio V Rapax will oversee the Latinisation of the local government, then move east, to bring the Greeks into our territory. 504 AUC: Athenai has taken offence to our presence in Greece and has captured Apollonia, seemingly hoping to cut us off from invading further into their homeland. It will not work. Julius Agrippa, well rested after his group Triumph, will sail his legion across Mare Adriaticum to assist Legio V. In Gaul, a final battle on the banks of the Rhine marked the pacification of the region. Gaul is ours. The legions will rest, then move onto Germania. 505 AUC: Julius Agrippa, keen to retake Apollonia, failed to scout the surrounding lands before moving onto the town, and was caught by an enormous Athenian army. Luckily, Legio V arrived in time. The largest battle in Rome’s history was fought on the outskirts of the town, and although we were victorious, thousands of Romans paid the price. Junius Brutus has made landfall with Legio II Equestris to assist the conquest of Greece. 506 AUC: Libo Imperator has ordered our legions out of Germania. Although we have subdued many of the tribes there, the longer we stay, the more nature takes its toll. We have now lost more men to the cold than to the enemy. A summer in Germania is only slightly warmer than a winter in Italia. Trade agreements with the bordering tribes, while being of little value to us, will ensure a secure border. The legions are to move to Dacia, and bring civilisation to the barbarians within. The Spartans, long past their glory, and not stupid enough to mistake the intent of our legions marching through their lands, have bent the knee before they even pointed a spear. We agreed, on the terms they would join our war against Athenai. 507 AUC: with Sparta capturing the city of Athens, and Legio II Equestris taking Pella, Greece has been conquered. To the north, Thrake and Dacia are now both ours. Rome now stretches from Oceanus to Pontus Euxinus. Over the last 30 years, Lucius Julius Libo Imperator has risen from Legatus to sole ruler of Imperium Romanum, and grown our empire to half the size of that of Alexander’s. With little to conquer without sailing to Asia, he has elected to end his conquests and focus on administering the empire he has grown. Roma Invicta.

2023.06.09 04:46 JapanApril2023 Belated Trip Report of Our Honeymoon
April 9 - April 26: Tokyo - Nanyo - Hakone - Kyoto - Osaka - Koyasan
We had two main goals for this trip to Japan: eat great food and see cherry blossoms. We had the best of both in the city of Nanyo in Yamagata prefecture. It's not a place that I've ever seen mentioned on Reddit or the western internet, so I wanted to share it with you all here.
What we learned
- Ship your luggage - The airport as well as every convenience store we walked into let us ship our luggage. This made traveling between cities significantly easier, and prices were always very reasonable. For single-night stays, we just packed what we needed for a single day and shipped our suitcases to the subsequent hotel.
- Google Maps is very helpful, but don't trust them for transfer times in public transit. We thought we were transit experts because we live in NYC, but the stations in Japan are even more complicated. Leave early if you need to catch a train.
- Almost all restaurants in Japan are good, but I'm somewhat of food snob. If you're like me, I recommend using Tabelog for reviews to find places that are a bit more special. The scoring is very different from western reviews. In general, anything above a 3.3 is very good. Scores are also significantly biased towards more expensive restaurants, so I'd recommend higher scores for fancier restaurants.
- Fruits and vegetables are relatively expensive and difficult to come by in Japan. We were able to get them at supermarkets, which can usually be found in the basement of any department store. Next time I'm in Japan, I'll consider bringing fiber supplements.
- Cherry Blossoms blooming times are very unpredictable. The Japan Meteorology Agency has a website with up to date cherry blossom predictions of over 1000 locations. Even if it doesn't have the exact cherry blossom site you want to visit, you're definitely going to see something close by. Websites of popular tourist destinations update the status of cherry blossoms as well.
- I recommend that you book hotels within 5 minutes walking distance from well-connected subway stations. A couple of our hotels were 10-15 minutes away from the station we needed to go to, so it was mildly irritating to repeat the same walk so often. In those places, there was actually a closer station, but if we took those, we'd have to transfer to a main station anyways.
- Standard hotel rooms have a double bed, which are about the same size as full sized beds in the US. If you're a move around a lot in your sleep like I do and want your partner to be well-rested, it's worth upgrading to a room that has a larger bed or two twins.
- If you're shopping, don't forget to bring your passport, so that you can get a duty free discount or refund.
Planning
- We booked our Hakone ryokan in January
- In February, we booked 3 fine dining restaurants, hotel in Kyoto, and temple lodging in Koyasan
- Saiho-ji (the moss temple in Kyoto) says that they require you to write an international postcard to request a reservation, and I saw that too late. Fortunately, there was also a Japanese website that let you make reservations, and we filled that out about a month in advanced with the help of Google translate. One of the fields required a Japanese address. We just used a friend's address, but you can probably use a hotel as well.
- Besides that, we booked all our other lodging and a week before our stay or less. A few times this wasn't best decision because our hotels were significantly more expensive this way.
- We left the first week in our trip very flexible, so that we could go somewhere that was in peak bloom during this time. We had a few places in mind, and ended up booking a ryokan in Nanyo the night before our stay there.
- Besides a few bucket list items, we figured that we'd be happy going anywhere. My wife and I made a shared Google map with all the sites that we found interesting without the intention of going to all of them and used that as a guide to choose what was convenient.
Tokyo Highlights
- I bought strawberries from a random department store, and an absurdly priced mango and orange from the Sembikiya flagship store. The strawberries were some of the best I had and worth the price of 1200 yen. The orange was tangier than any other orange we've had. However, you have to peel the thick membrane to fully appreciate it, and even then, I don't think it was worth anywhere close to 3500 yen. The mango was the most expensive at about 12000 yen, and everything about it was perfect. It was fragrant, the skin was thin, the texture was creamy, and it was as sweet as candy. It's hard to believe that this was grown from a plant.
- The real reason to go to Mori Art Museum is the stunning view of Tokyo. The main museum was closed, but we got to see an exhibit of Heatherwick Studio instead, which was more interesting than I expected.
- We loved the garden the Nezu Museum
- We went to Hotel Sara Kinshicho, a love hotel, and it was as fun as it looks on Youtube. The room was both more spacious and cheaper than most of our other hotel rooms. That said, it's a bit out of the way, so you should definitely ship your luggage to your next destination.
- We wanted to go to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant and settled on Kura Sushi. Considering that you're paying $1-$3 per plate, you shouldn't expect the highest quality of fish, but the eel was absolutely incredible. It seemed to be fresh off the grill and it was so saucy and fatty. I honestly enjoyed it more than the eel that I got from a dedicated unagi restaurant.
- The yakitori at New Torigin was amazing, especially the chicken skin. Perfectly charred and crispy.
Nanyo
As I mentioned before, Nanyo was the highlight of our trip. Despite being a small town, it had it's own distinct feeling and cuisine, and I think it deserves more love. I definitely shouldn't have been able to book a last minute ryokan reservation during peak Cherry Blossom season.
- After arriving in Nanyo, we ate some dessert near the station nearby. We then took a train known as the Flower Nagai Line. On the train, you can see cherry blossoms, snowcapped mountains, and pass sleepy villages. We stopped at Koguwa Station.
- There is a famous soba restaurant close by. It was a 30 minute walk, but I was really in the mood for some soba. Unfortunately, we arrived, we found out that the shop is temporarily closed because the owner broke his arms. It was around this time when I think I spotted an eagle catching a snake.
- Fortunately, we still had some sweets leftover and the weather was perfect for walking. We walked to a spot which has a small cherry blossom festival. One of the trees there was over 1200 years old, yet it was still blooming strong!
- We took the Flower line back to Nanyo and checked into our ryokan, Morinoyu. We didn't see any English speakers in their staff, so my wife's basic Japanese was definitely helpful. Service was excellent, despite our communication barrier.
- For dinner, we went to 食楽亭 旭屋, which specializes in beef. Despite going to several more expensive restaurants, this was by far my favorite meal in Japan and one of the top two meals of my life. We had their specialty Shabu Shabu with their local Yonezawa beef. I don't think it was graded A5, but I honestly don't think that mattered as it still had wonderful marbling and melted in your mouth. To eat it, you take a thin slice of beef and wrap it around a bunch of spring vegetables. The mild freshness and crispness of the vegetables perfectly compliments the fatty beef. It's kind of like eating a Korean ssam but in reverse, which is so much better because you primarily taste the beef instead of the vegetable.
- After dinner, we walked around Eboshiyama Park, nearby. It's a hill with hundreds of cherry trees in full blossom. It also features the largest torii made out of a single stone. It was after dark, but they light it up at night which gives the park its own sort of beauty.
- We went back to our ryokan and soaked in the public onsens. The water had a slight sulphurous smell though I think that actually enhances the authenticity of the spring water.
- The following day, we went back to Eboshiyama Park. During the daytime, the park was even more beautiful. It felt like I was walking in Shinkai film. The best part is that there were the perfect number of people. Sometimes, you feel like you have to the park to yourself, but there are still enough to make the atmosphere more lively.
Hakone
- We went up the Hakone Ropeway. Fortunately the sky was clear and we got to see Mt. Fuji on Owakudani. We didn't have time to complete the entire loop, so we turned back from there. If you're in a hurry like us, I definitely recommend taking the bus instead of the train and cable car, which were painfully slow. We barely made it to our ryokan before their last check in time.
- Our ryokan we stayed in was Yama No Chaya. Despite being highly recommended on this sub, I personally would not recommend it. Don't get me wrong. We had fun, and it met 90% of our expectations, but it's fair to expect that extra 10% after spending almost $700. Our meals were rushed, especially breakfast. Our attendant kept on reminding us that check out was at 10:00 am despite having plenty of time. I think they were short-staffed because he always had the expression of being overwhelmed. One of the public onsens had a thin layer of oil in it, which likely came from a guest who didn't shower themselves properly. Our private onsen was beautiful, but they locked the door to the outside because there was construction underneath.
- The Open Air Museum featured a lot of interesting sculptures, and we took the bus there this time.
Kyoto Highlights
- Fushimi Inari is as lovely as it appears on social media. We arrived at 9 am, which we thought was late, but there were fewer people than I expected, especially in the upper area.
- Roketsu is a fun studio where you can make your own indigo textiles. It is much easier than it looks to make something beautiful.
- Saiho-ji is a Japanese Buddhist temple that features a large garden covered in 120 types of moss. Due the limited reservations, our visit was quite peaceful.
- My favorite overall dinner in Kyoto was Soba-no-Mi Yoshimura. They have an English menu, but their Japanese menu has a lot more options, such as the 100% buckwheat soba that I ordered. My wife got the traditional nishin (herring) soba, which was also delicious. The best part was honestly the tempura.
- We had a couple of traditional Kyoto-style kaisekis, and both were excellent. Iharada was a great overall value and service was impeccable. Kiyama was more of a splurge, but also worth the price. Every other tasting menu I've experienced has aimed to present dishes with a wow factor, but each course here elegantly embodied delicacy.
Osaka Highlights
- I've never seen dolphins so active than the ones at the Osaka Aquarium.
- Hajime is a 3 Michelin star restaurant where I had the most exquisite meal I've ever had in my life. Every course was a work of art. I posted a full review on /finedining.
- We had Okonomiyaki and yakisoba at Ajikuraya. It was a tiny fraction of the price of our previous dinner, but equally as memorable.
Koyasan
- Our last stop was Koyasan, a mountain with a Buddhist temple settlement. Honestly, at this point, we were all templed-out, but it still offered a distinct experience from the other ones we've visited.
- We stayed at Ichijo-In, which is a functioning temple and lodging of pilgrims. We aren't religious, but almost all of the other guests seemed to be quite serious. The walls of the temple are quite thin, and it got quite chilly in April, so I'd be cautious if you want to book this in the winter.
