Phish

Phish, Tuesday 06/09/2009 (14 years ago) Asheville Civic Center, Asheville, NC, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 2009 Early Summer Tour
Set 1 : Kill Devil Falls , The Moma Dance , Sample in a Jar , Stash , Dog Faced Boy , Gumbo , Tube , Lengthwise , Divided Sky , When the Cactus is in Bloom 1 , Bold As Love
Set 2 : Backwards Down the Number Line > Ghost > Fast Enough for You , Halley's Comet > Maze , Alaska 1 , Theme From the Bottom , Golgi Apparatus , Possum
Encore : Loving Cup
1 Phish debut.
Jamchart Notes:
Backwards Down the Number Line - "Type I" version with great strumming by Trey and a short outro jam that > to "Ghost."
Show Notes:
This show featured the Phish debuts of When the Cactus is in Bloom and Alaska. Before Dog Faced Boy, Trey explained that while living with Fish, he wrote Dog Faced Boy, Tube and Gumbo based on entries in one of Fish's journals. During Dog Faced Boy, Fish left his drum kit and lay down in front of the stage because he didn't need to sing the song. Lengthwise (performed a cappella ) was played for the first time since July 28, 1998 (233 shows). Bold as Love was played for the first time since October 6, 2000 (74 shows).

Phish, Friday 06/09/2000 (23 years ago) On Air East, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, , Japan
Gap Chart, Tour: 2000 Summer Japan Tour
Set 1 : Axilla > Taste , Billy Breathes , Poor Heart > Golgi Apparatus > Funky Bitch , The Moma Dance > First Tube > Chalk Dust Torture
Set 2 : Tweezer , Bouncing Around the Room 1 , The Mango Song , The Squirming Coil > Gotta Jibboo > Meatstick 2 > Tweezer Reprise
Encore : You Enjoy Myself
1 Brief outro solo from Trey, which replaced the usual closing guitar lick. 2 First Meatstick to feature Japanese lyrics.
Jamchart Notes:
Funky Bitch - Atypically improvisational must-hear monster.
Chalk Dust Torture - Winning fans in Japan. This huge first-set-closing version raises hell and ends, but then there's a second ending that concludes cacophonously.
Tweezer - Atypically slow but monstrously improvisational version that has several peaks and valleys before speeding-up and concluding in a melodic, triumphant, must-fucking-hear manner.
The Mango Song - Ending jam segment stretches the limits of the basic jam with some nice rhythmic variation, but still stays "in bounds."
You Enjoy Myself - Deeeep, funky jam/groove, and the return of the B&D; segment!
Show Notes:
The Moma Dance included Funky Bitch teases and Tweezer included Funk #49 teases. This was the first ever Meatstick to feature Japanese lyrics and Trey flubbed the words while attempting to sing them. Bouncing included a brief outro solo from Trey, which replaced the usual closing guitar lick. This show was re- broadcast on Japanese television.

Phish, Friday 06/09/1995 (28 years ago) Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison, CO, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 1995 Summer Tour
Set 1 : My Friend, My Friend , Divided Sky , Strange Design > The Oh Kee Pa Ceremony > AC/DC Bag > Theme From the Bottom , Taste , Sparkle > Run Like an Antelope
Set 2 : Split Open and Melt , The Wedge , Scent of a Mule , Cavern > David Bowie , Acoustic Army , Sweet Adeline , Slave to the Traffic Light
Encore : The Squirming Coil
Jamchart Notes:
Run Like an Antelope - Unusual jam. Sort of off-key. Sort of evil. Dissonant and anti-melodic. No real peak; it just fades into "Rocco."
Split Open and Melt - Improvisational playing in several sections tests the rhythmic and melodic standards for "SOAM" in this solid version.
Show Notes:
Part of the soundcheck's jam consisted of 25 or 6 to 4.

Phish, Thursday 06/09/1994 (29 years ago) Triad Amphitheater, Salt Lake City, UT, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 1994 Summer Tour
Set 1 : Llama , Guelah Papyrus , Rift , Down with Disease > It's Ice > If I Could > Maze , Fee 1 , Suzy Greenberg
Set 2 : Split Open and Melt , Glide > Julius , Halley's Comet -> Scent of a Mule , Ginseng Sullivan 2 , Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove , Golgi Apparatus
Encore : Highway to Hell
1 Trey sang verses through megaphone. 2 Acoustic and without microphones. Fish on Madonna washboard.
Jamchart Notes:
It's Ice - Good rocking jam with excellent Fish and solid Trey (of course Page is great).
Mike's Song - The 1st jam is rocking and ass kicking, with a clever little "Tweeprise"-like walk up. The 2nd jam is basically a non-vocal version of something very "Simple"-like. Just listen and you'll hear it. The return to "Mike's" has more crazed '94 scream-infused power action.
Show Notes:
Trey sang the verses of Fee through a megaphone. Ginseng Sullivan was performed acoustic without microphones and featured Fish on Madonna washboard.

Gap Chart, Tour: 1990 Tour
Set 1 : Possum , Lawn Boy > Reba , Dinner and a Movie > Bouncing Around the Room > Tweezer , Uncle Pen > Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove
Set 2 : Whole Lotta Love Jam > Harry Hood , The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday > Avenu Malkenu > La Grange , Fee -> Foam , The Oh Kee Pa Ceremony > Suzy Greenberg > Run Like an Antelope , Hold Your Head Up > Terrapin > Hold Your Head Up , Harpua , Good Times Bad Times
Encore : Take the 'A' Train > Contact
Jamchart Notes:
Foam - -> in from "Fee." Groovy and excellent Page section with solid backing from Mike and Fish. It's all good from there.
Run Like an Antelope - Good exploratory version that gets nicely beyond the standard. Great tension, dissonance and experimental jamming.
Show Notes:
Harpua included Funkytown teases and 'A' Train contained a Dixie tease from Trey. The band launched into the second set-opening Whole Lotta Love Jam as the DJ had been spinning the original Zeppelin version. The opening act was The Aquarium Rescue Unit.

2023.06.09 07:02 Cute-Sheepherder-705 VW Clockspring X 3

So my VW Tiguan Rline at 215K km needs a new clockspring (for the third time). This is the electronic connection between the steering wheel and the car. So no big deal if I don't have an airbag right?
Got my regular mechanic to put it in this morning. However many of the functions on the steering wheel do not work. Turns out that the correct part does not actually work unless you take it to the VW dealer to 'program' it.
Now wasting my afternoon whilst they program it. This may take two hours and cost $360. I would have thought that they would plug in the computer and the make and model would then automatically be able to generate the correct mapping of the electronics to update the part. In this day and age I would have thought that this was an automatic function.
I think it is complete bullshit that someone has to manually carry out this function. Or possibly it is automatically done and they just want to squeeze as much cash out of me as they can. This is exactly why I don't use the dealer to service. Oh yeah and the first time that the clockspring needed replacing, they tried to intimidate me into letting them do the next service as "the timing belts need to be changed". I may be female but I do know that my car has chains and not belts and they need to be checked and left the f alone if there is no issue.
SO THANKS VW / VW TRARALGON in Victoria Australia.
Also need to replace the DSG but that is another story.

2023.06.09 07:01 Onoben4 Vyper X axis belt replacement

The x axis belt on my Vyper just snapped in the middle of a print and I need to replace it. So Im here to ask which lenght is this belt and also what might have caused it to snap. The x movement got a little louder over time maybe it has something to do with this?
Also, any tips on how to install the new belt? I currently haven't done any research on how to do that but I will so I don't want you to explain the whole thing. Just some small things that most people get wrong or something like that.
Thanks

2023.06.09 04:27 TheBrain511 10th Gen Civic 1.5T vs 2.0

Looking around for a new car to replace my old 2007 chevy aveo. Currently looking at getting a honda civic ex or the sport models . The models would be used one ex model looking at is from 2017 while the sport is from 2019. both are under 80k miles and no accident according to car fax. Only a mechanic will actually be able to tell itf it legit but thought i would throw it out there.
I've done a bit of research honestly feel like the 2.0 just seems more reliable long term.
Background around me im an auditor for my state so I do travel alot for work I would say 20 to 34 miles give or take which some of the longer trips being an hour away.
Although i will be getting work at home privileges in October so my travel to the office which is 20 minutes away from my house would be reduced although it would depend on if i get the information i need electronically or not
Outside of that Im ahomebodyy honestly I pickup groceries, orthodontist, go out to bars with my friends on the weekends not alot though.
Been thinking of getting back into doordash as a side hustle but getting realtors license would be a better use of my time than waring my car down doing that
I live in Indiana so it can get extremely hot and extremely cold Im not in the hilly part of my state its pretty flat
With my current car do get my maintenance done regularly given the car isn't exactly economically friendly at all honestly just sucking me like a leech and with my job requiring travel a new car is necessary figured go with one of the most reliable brands out there
I plan on owning the car for the next 10 years hopefully or well until the wheels fall off. Dont plan on doing any mods no tunes only thing i would change out honestly would be the radio and installing a joying radio.
I've read that 1.5 have issues of oil dilution although it seems to have gotten better with 2019 and beyond and the AC system kinda ironic the ac system would be bad on a modern car but those are two basic issues ive seen where it caused people to sell their civics or pay thousands in repairs
I havent read to many issues with the transmission seems good on that front but if anyone has dealt with issues with transmission i would like to hear about it.

2023.06.09 04:12 Whisperfights How to fix garbage?

Hi all! I know Victrolas are garbage, but the 6-1 old time looking one was a gift several years ago and I've kept it up okay for the most part. I've tried to find videos to fix the ol girl and I'm really struggling. It plays slow compared to my friends players and digital equivalent of the songs. I feel like I just need to tighten the belt but I can't get to it without breaking it. Any ideas?
Also obviously this can't last forever, I'm getting more into collecting but I don't want to spend the good good until I have some space to keep the player on a proper dedicated location. The current set up isn't ideal, but hey, neither is the player.
If my old player isn't worth trying to fix, low end replacement options?
Thank you!!

2023.06.09 03:44 -Hezekiah I have joined the club, can I learn the secret handshake now? Tools question.

I have joined the club, can I learn the secret handshake now? Tools question.
TL;DR Just purchased my first Land Rover (2011 Land Rover LR4 HSE Lux 5.0L), need to replace my rad fan and clutch. What size fan clutch wrench does my specific model need? I have not managed to find a mechanics manual for her yet, so I am a bit in the dark on working on her in some ways. Happy to join the club!
This is the my short but eventful tale so far as a new Landy owner titled, “Smells like Stockholm Syndrome is in the Air”
I just purchased a 2011 Land Rover LR4 HSE Lux from a local shop. I have been looking for a while so I was already willing to take anything that looked to be in decent shape frame, body, and interior-wise as long as there were no major known issues with the mechanical aspects of it. Couple that with the fact that I have been swamped at work and could only make it to the dealership just before closing; let’s just say my inspection and test drive were less rigorous than I normally do for a used car. <—— (Can you smell the foreshadowing here?)
I drove the hour or so to get home from the dealer in bliss. She drove so smooth and I was amazed at how tight everything seemed to be on a car from 2011. I heard no rattling from the engine no matter how much I played and punched at the throttle so hoping the timing chain guides have already been done or at least will give me some time before I need to climb into the engine bay to replace them. In fact the only thing I saw wrong in my quick inspection at the dealer was a slight weep on the driver side valve cover seal which I had them knock some off the price figuring I would handle that myself to save some cash. All was right with the world as I pulled into my driveway, cast a glance back at my new ride, and went in to eat dinner and chill for a bit.
2 hours later… I head out to my new car, manual in hand to connect my phone and get familiar with everything.
This is where things fell apart…
First, as I sat there with the engine off but power on, going through my manual, etc I got a “low battery” warning. Seemed odd, but I have seen this before if you leave a car sit with the power on but no engine running. Next, I press the ignition button to start her up and get that alternator working… She tries, but just doesn’t have the juice to start. No problems at the dealer at all (of course). I try a couple more times and that is when she throws me a “low coolant” warning. I look underneath and sure enough there is a small puddle.
Opened the bonnet and sure enough, no coolant in the coolant bottle. I closed her up and went inside because at that point I just had no more “ducks” to give since it had already been a long day anyway. A day or so later, I load up some coolant, and boost her to life. Did some tests on the battery and she was around 11.1-11.8 volts sitting cold and dark, and with the engine at idle she was giving me about 14.6 volts. So, I had a bad battery that I replaced but at least the alternator seemed to test okay.
Just got her back from my eurocar specialist mechanic because I just don’t have the time at the moment to find the leak and fix everything. They charged me 1700 to replace the thermostat, water pump, some hoses, gaskets, and a drive belt. Which based on what my research showed was not a bad price. He also told me that she was throwing a code because my fan clutch was basically all but dead.
And so with that sad beginning, I have only gotten about 90 minutes total behind the wheel since I bought her a few weeks back. Here is hoping things get a bit less exciting for a least a month or two. :rofl
For those of you that read all of this, I am sorry for it being so long, but felt it was worth sharing my hazing to join the “Landy” club. :P
I will say for a 3 owner vehicle, she had a great maintenance history for her first 2 owners, with the third doing the bare minimum and I think it shows. But, once I get these few issues out of the way, she really is a dream in almost every other way. he says staring at his captor with hope in his eyes
So, my question is in the TL;DR above if you haven’t read that yet…
I look forward to learning more about working on her myself and will share my plans for her (hint, overland refit is in the plans this is my shocked face) later on.
Cheers!

2023.06.09 01:48 HistoryMan2001 Did Burger King ever have outdoor playgrounds in Portland, Oregon??

Did Burger King ever have outdoor playgrounds in Portland, Oregon??

Burger King location at 632 NE Weidler St, Portland, OR 97232. It has a large outdoor area with a fence around it. That is usually a sign there used to be a large playground here.

A fast food outdoor playground that looks like what the Burger King location would have had.
When I was looking at Google Maps and Google Earth, I noticed there are some Burger King locations that have a large outdoor areas, and in most locations, that is usually a play area or an area that used to be a play area. But when going back to the earliest Google Maps street view photos and going all the way back to 2001 Google Earth Imagery some of these Portland locations, including the one mentioned above look like they had their playground already taken out by then.

The same Burger King location back in 2007. They had no playground at this time either.

The aerial view on Google Earth of this Burger King location in 2001. The outdoor space looks empty.
If this location or other locations in Portland had a playground, when would've they had them?? Did they take them out in the late 1990s?? Have fast food restaurants been phasing out of outdoor play areas for that long?? Did they phase them out more aggressively in Portland than other places?? I know in Sacramento, Burger King phased out of their outdoor play areas in 2008, and in Southern California, some Burger Kings still have outdoor play areas and have even replaced the play equipment with new equipment. The Carl's Jr location in my town kept their playground until 2021. What do you think about this subject?? Is it a mystery??

2023.06.09 00:34 Dsheff2 Catalytic converter replacement

Any one know where I can get catalytic converter replacement for a 2005 Acura MDX? I went to a mechanic and they quoted 3700. I’m not going to pay that much if I can do it myself . Anyone know reliable and quality sites I can get them from?

2023.06.09 00:11 Ok-Performance8331 Fix it or scrap it?

08 Kia Sportage LX 4cyl ~100,000 miles
Car needs: Valve Cover, Control arms, Shocks/struts (4), rotors, calipers, and pads. Tires were wearing unevenly on outer edge, vibrating at speeds greater than 80+, and pulling left when I would apply medium pressure to the brake.
All in repair cost is about 100% retail value of the car.
My repair knowledge ends at changing brakes, oil, batteries, etc.
80% driven less than 3 miles to work. 90% driven less than 15 miles per trip.
I am the original owner. The only major maintenance done on the car was timing belt replaced at 75000.
To clarify I’m not questioning the garage about whether the car needs the repairs. I’m just questioning whether it would be worth the repairs.

2023.06.08 23:55 SociallyF Discrepancy in Spare Parts Numbers for 2019 Genesis G80 - Need Help!

Hello everyone,
I am the owner of a 2019 Genesis G80 and recently ran into an issue while trying to replace some parts of my vehicle. The problem is that the spare parts numbers provided by the system do not match the actual parts in my car.
When I looked up the parts using my VIN (KMHGL41DBKU310499) Korean specifications, I got the following numbers:
However, the actual numbers for the parts in my car are different:
I'm at a loss as to why there's such a discrepancy. Shouldn't the parts numbers match exactly according to the VIN? I'm looking for a solution to this issue.
Especially, I'm planning to change the transmission oil, and I need to check the transmission filter number for this. If anyone has any information on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
If anyone has any suggestions on how I can find the correct parts numbers for my vehicle, or how the system could be improved to prevent such issues, I'd love to hear them.
Looking forward to your responses. Thanks in advance!

2023.06.08 23:14 keepwalkinntalkin Big RPM fluctuations from brake pedal on start

2007 328xi automatic N52 engine ~108000 miles.
After cranking (either cold or warm) if my foot is on the brake pedal the RPM's fluctuate wildly and it goes into limp mode. No codes thrown. This happens intermittently (one day a week) and then goes away. Like it would start and go into limp mode each time I try to crank on Sunday, then on Monday morning the issue magically goes away. Drives extremely well for a week and then this happens again.
This started happening after I hit a pothole a few weeks ago. Car went into limp mode right after hitting the pothole. Limped back home, and it went away the next day.
Maintenance wise the car has a leaky VCG and is due (but not overdue) for an oil change. Oil, brake fluid, coolant are within levels. Vaccum lines seem to be ok and brake booster holds vaccum even after multiple days of car sitting, so I don't think it is a bad brake booster. Replaced started motor in Nov 2021.
The RPM fluctuation in video is very tame (it was the third crank) but on first crank it is pretty wild. Appreciate any help, I'm about to lose hope on this car! I also pulled some data from the car from good cranks and bad cranks here https://we.tl/t-FKhSbRHcR8 .

2023.06.08 22:20 title5864 Want a new, fun car with reasonable cost and maintenance expense

I have a 2007 Honda Pilot that is pretty old/beatup. 150k miles, hasn't been running well since the timing belt blew a month or two ago (had it repaired obviously). Now it seems like the catalytic converter, or all 3 maybe, is going out. We previously just had this car but recently bought a 2023 CR-V after the timing belt issue. The dealer offered me $500 for the Pilot so I just kept it. Now my wife and I have 2 cars which it turns out we like. I guess I could replace the catalytic converters, but the AC is also broken and I have been quoted like $4k for the AC alone. No idea what catalytic converters would cost? So I'm not sure if I want to keep the Pilot.
I want to buy something fun, ideally under $15k but OK with up to $20k, to have as a backup car in lieu of the Pilot. Then maybe drive the Pilot off a cliff or blow it up or try to get it stolen. My definition of fun is pretty broad. I have been looking at old pickup trucks, muscle cars like a Mustang or Camaro or maybe a Jeep Wrangler. I will probably pay cash for the car. What would you all do in my situation?

🔊SOUND UP🔊 Need some Help/Advice identifying a noise
I purchased a 2005 Honda Pilot with 126k miles on it in April. So far I’ve replaced the timing belt, tie rods, engine oil, and transmission fluid. The previous owner replaced the power steering unit but I’m still hearing a whine when I turn sharply leaving me to believe something may be wrong with the Power Steering. Was wondering if anyone has had similar issues or has any idea what this might be or how I can fix it?

2023.06.08 21:39 Ranadiel [Datamining] Looking Through 2.1.4's Files (Unreleased Content Spoilers)

Let's begin with the standard datamining reminders:
  1. All datamined info of unreleased content counts as spoilers, so please do not discuss anything from this thread or any other datamining thread outside of clearly marked datamining threads. If it is necessary to bring something up outside of one of those threads, make to clearly mark the spoilers (and preferably indicate that it is a datamined spoiler). Not everyone is interested in datamined spoilers, and you should respect that.
  2. All datamined content is unfinished (otherwise I'd probably be putting it in a guide), as such there is no guarantee that any content discussed in these threads will release in its current form or that it will even release at all. There is still content that I have datamined from 1.1, which may have been in the launch build, that is not available to players (e.g., Spirit Totem series and Sosiel Romance Follow Up Card Game), and anything I find now could potentially follow the same route.
Well this probably isn't as much content as last patch, but there are some eagerly awaited build options in here. And on that topic, I suddenly feel the urge to remind people I am just the messenger. No particular reason why, just felt like saying it. :P

DLC5

So I think I found the exchange for meeting Penta. Not going to spoil too much, but one of the translated lines made me laugh too much to not share: "My main specialization is music. The Tech League considered this area of work unproductive, and I was reprogrammed for research work in extreme conditions, as well as unquestioning obedience and respectful treatment. One of these three programs was installed correctly." Also I know this line will break a few hearts despite no one having seen her yet and her almost certainly being constrained to DLC5's stand alone campaign: "I offer mutually beneficial cooperation. Optional friendship. Romantic relationships - excluded."
More generally, I think I have the general flow for the DLC now. It looks like the goal is going to be to track down the seven shards of Sithhud so that you can kill/serve/usurp/w/e him. Honestly, the dialogue makes me think of Throne of Bhaal because it seems we'll be using portals to move in and out of our extraplanar home base to track down the bhaalsp... I mean missing shards and those who hold them.
I see some entries related to the Plane of Shadow, so I guess that we'll be making a trip there? No details at the moment beyond it exists.
And since it was a crowd pleaser last time, I'll mention that there are further mentions of goblins.

Archetypes

Hag Riven
Some new abilities from the entry last time
Dark Sister
Dark Sisters are feared for their ability to bend minds and sow discord. Some say these witches can watch their enemies from afar and can even corrupt the minds of the most innocent or loyal, including newborn babes and cherished pets. Dark Sister can't have animal companion

Items

These are all probably DLC things.

Spells/Abilities

Build Options

I think most of these are mythic things, but not all of them are clearly marked as such so some could be normal build options. And we finally get mythic armor and poison support for all those asking for them!

Assassin

So Assassin got some stuff. Not sure if any of it fixes the class's problems, but hey improvements! (I think)

Silly Stuff

2023.06.08 21:12 LittleRedB2300 Atrocious engine noise

Atrocious engine noise
Atrocious Engine sound
Hello all,
Just stopped at a mechanic who stated my condenser, belt tensioner, idler(belt pulley?) And belt need to be replaced. Said it's in the ballpark of 1900-2400 (located in south Florida). Recommended parts include an AC kit w/condenser and the other items listed above.
Is this something I can safely do myself? The tech that came out said I could, but I have never messed with AC systems before. Tips? Walkthroughs? Don't touch that or you'll get your hand blown off kid? Anything is helpful.

2023.06.08 21:07 Katusa2 Swapped 2009 Eagle Hemi into 2007. Having problems with timing and nearly at my wits end. Any suggestions?

I need some MAJOR help and it may be that I just need help pushing this truck over a cliff. I'll give you the backstory first but, I'm having a hell of a time getting the timing to work. I'll explain in detail below.
Backstory:
My 2007 truck dropped a rod a blew holes in the block. I had the bright idea of swapping in a 2009 Eagle Hemi into the truck along with everything needed to have the VVT and SRV systems working.
I found a 2009 engine for a reasonable price. I tore it apart to make sure everything was good and found it had a bad cam due to a lifter dying and chewing it up. So great time to put a better cam in. Here is a list of EXACTLY what I did.
- Cleaned the block and removed all of the carbon from the cylinders. I did not remove the crankshaft, rods, or pistons.
- Installed a cam from a VVT, MDS, 6.4L
- Replaced 4 of the lifters
- Replaced all of the valve springs with Enginetech ERV1451 springs. I made sure to remove the old seat/spacer and only use the 1mm shim packaged with the springs.
- Replaced the PCM with a PCM from a 2009 Ram 1500
- Added wiring for the SRV
- Added wiring for the VVT
- Replaced the VVT Solenoid
- Replaced the timing chain, crank sprocket, chain tensioner, and the chain guide
- Installed an oil pump from a Hellcat motor
- Extended the wiring on the IAT, ETC and the MAP sensor connector.
- Changed the connector on the cam shaft sensor from the '07 version to the 09' version
There were other issues but, nothing that I think would be relevant to this issue.
Results:
The motor ran fine at first. Or at least it seemed to while parked. I let it idle to operating temp to just make sure everything was working.
The next day I started it up and drove it. It went into limp mode and wouldn't shift into high gear or rev above 3000 RPM. I parked it for a bit and cleared the PCM. When I started it again it stayed out of Limp mode. When I drove it was fine for a few feet and then a loud whine and loss of power. Every time I pushed on the gas it would whine and lose power. I can only describe it as a transmission that was slipping out of gear. I stopped and checked everything. After that it drove fine but only in Limp mode. I figured it was because I had cleared the LP counters. I chalked it up to a temporary transmission issue.
Reading the codes I was getting a ton of codes for crank/cam issues. I replaced both the cam sensor and crank sensor with car quest sensors from Advance and attempted to have the PCM relearn them. The truck would immediately go into limp once started. I then bought NTK sensors and tried them. Same problems. I rechecked the wiring, pulled the intake and checked the VVT solenoid, and double checked the oil. No change. At this point I can drive the truck but not over 55mph and it won't shift into high gear as it's obviously in limp mode. My next thought was to reinstall the original cam sensor. I got different codes but, I noticed I could get it to stay out of limp mode for a bit. Revving it past 3000 and everything sounded good and then that loud whine and immediately into limp mode. So now I know the whine is not the transmission but, I'm completely at a loss as to what it is.
Here is a better summary with what I was seeing on the scan tool.
First Start after rebuild old crankshaft sensor and old camshaft sensor:
- Multiple codes for crankshaft/camshaft. Squeal at higher RPMs with loss of power and immediate limp mode.
New CarQuest Camshaft and Crankshaft sensors installed:
- Limp mode on start
- P0344 and P0340 codes
- Cam Sync = No Sync
- Cam/Crank Difference = 30° (This value will only change at startup and doesn't not change while running it does bounce around 29° and 32°. One time it went to 8L)
New NTK Camshaft and Crankshaft sensors installed:
- Limp mode on start
- P0344 and P0340 codes
- Cam Sync = No Sync
- Cam/Crank Difference = 30°
New Crankshaft Sensor original Camshaft Sensor:
- Limp mode after running for a few minutes
- P0016 set at start
- Cam Sync = Synced
- Cam/Crank Difference = 30° ( With the original sensor this value will change while idling but, not by much)
- While not in limp mode I can rev over 3000 RPM at which point it will randomly let out a loud squeal and drop RPMs. This happened in idle.
Does anyone have any ideas on what to look for?
Any ideas on the load high pitched noise that randomly happens over 3000 RPM?
Any thoughts on checking timing without pulling the timing cover?
Can a VVT sprocket go bad?
I have ordered a new Mopar camshaft sensor to see if that helps. I am trying to avoid taking the timing cover off but, I think I'm going to have too. I'm going to try and stick a borescope in the hole for the camshaft sensor to see if I can see anything wrong with the timing chain and sprockets.
