2023.06.08 21:34 drossn Promos Ending and Pricing Too High - Options

My current bill has Ballooned up to $280+/month and I'd like to stay with Xfinity, if possible, although my wife is pressing to just go with Internet Only...which remains an option with YouTube TV or Hulu Plus Live TV.
My account is currently coded oddly and multiple items show-up as DVR - including the HBO/Showtime/Starz premiums for $30 show as "DVR" on the app/web. I believe some of this tracks back to some added DVR charges you're still charging me, even though I don't want the added DVR functionality of the wired 4K X1 box - I only wanted a wired 4K box, since that TV is far enough from the XB7 that it may not work very well with the 4K Wireless box (which we have one of that is close to the router). I'm willing to swap the wired 4K X1 box for another Wireless 4K box and if the signal is too weak for it, then I'd like one of the "free" pods if it doesn't work right.
We also have Xfinity Mobile, but I've never been able to get the additional $30/monthly discount that one is supposed to get with Gigabit Extra.
When I go price out my desired plan as a "new" customer the monthly price (with taxes) is $230 or so - so there should be some combo/deal that can work.
The end-state set of services I'd like to wind-up with is:
Really, just removing the $10 DVR charge and adding the $30 Xfinity Mobile discount I've never gotten, would drop the bill $40 and that feels like a good starting point.
I already sent a MOD MAIL message with the above and some account details and was asked to post this publicly - I guess I skipped a step.

2023.06.02 00:25 t_tristan5 Two computers, same connections, different speeds

I recently moved my home office doubling as a gaming setup into my basement for the summer months. Initially the wifi strength wasn't strong enough so I went out and bought an xFi Pod. I've used one in the past and it worked like a charm.
When I initially set up the pod, we also switched to a newer router (xfinity XB6) which to my knowledge is capable of handling what we pay for in internet speeds. (400 MBps). I had no issues for about a week and I was able to hard wire both my gaming pc and work laptop (into my xFi pod) and had no complaint on the speeds. Memory serves right I was getting roughly 120-180 MBps.
This week I've ran into speed problems. Running Ookla speedtest with both computers I get around 40MBps (hardwired). At first I went through some turn off and back on with both the computers, xFi pod, gateway etc. No luck on improving these speeds on either computer when hardwired to this pod. Nothing changed in the last week that would cause the sudden drop in speed so I'm stuck trying to figure out what is going on.
In the middle of my testing I tried disconnecting the Pod completely and let both computers connect to my gateway. After doing a speedtest on my work laptop...200+ MBps. clearly no signal issues there. I switch to my gaming pc and run another test on wifi connected directly to my gateway...40MBps again. What could be different in these two systems that would cause this big of a signal difference?

My thoughts and ideas: When running speed test on the xfinity app, its saying my house is receiving more than what I pay for in internet speeds. Signal strength to the xFi Pod is "Good" which is the best marker they use. Could there be signal interference with the xFi Pod? I've tried moving this to three different locations in my basement and hardwiring back to my machines, I get the same (slow) speed as before.
Why on earth is my work laptop able to get such high speeds in the same location as my Pod and gaming PC? I'm aware that I should expect some loss since its a mesh system but the difference is way to large to not scratch my head.
I come to this reddit looking for advice for troubleshooting this problem. I usually don't post in forums but am getting a mean dose of FOMO for the Diablo IV release.

2023.06.01 19:50 yessers012 xFi Gen 2 pods will not come online

As the title states my xFi pods won't come online, I tried to do the steps another post here talked about like plugging the pod into the gateway and letting it sit there for a little bit and all that, but to no avail. If anyone would be able to help that would be amazing.

2023.06.01 16:49 Grimfear1 Contract expired price skyrocked, questions about new one.

So my $65 internet only plan is now $96 and I looked at the upgrade section but honestly I've never seen a good deal in those. They always try force you up not keep you at a stable price.
I looked at plans for new customers and noticed my exact old plan is still there but they now also include the gateway and xfi pod with unlimited data for 2yrs at no extra cost. Is there any way as an existing customer I could get that as well? Any suggestions would be helpful, I enjoy my plan but its not worth 50% increase in price.

2023.05.31 23:17 lesavage27 New router/xFi Pods

So I recently downgraded my internet and was sent a new router. It routinely drops internet access in rooms 20 feet away from it where previously it had no issues. We were issued an xFi Pod and while that seems to connect to the network it does not deliver internet to any of the devices shown on the app. I need help figuring out both of these issues

2023.05.31 16:51 Gold_Combination_134 Help with internet connection through xFi Pod

I successfully used an XfiPod-2nd generation for six months to establish an Ethernet connection in a room on another floor than my modem/router. Suddenly it stopped working -- or rather it worked for the first 45 minutes or so I used my computer; then I lost connection to the internet. I can get it back again by unplugging the Pod and re-installing it, but again it only works for 45 minutes or so. I have replaced my modem/router, the ethernet cable, the Pod (three times). My computer says it is connected to the ethernet even when I have no internet service at all. I've spent 6 months dealing with Xfinity on this to no avail and I need to have internet access through ethernet for work. Can anyone help?

2023.05.30 21:02 Disastrous_Patience3 how to remove xFi pods after canceling internet service

Comcast / xFinity - Hi. I terminated my internet service (but kept CATV). I've returned my router to the local store. Unfortunately, I failed to remove 3 xFi Pods from my account. So that I can gift them to my neighbor (who has the same router that I did), can you help me remove the pods from my account? Thank you.

2023.05.27 11:25 kaknuSF Use old Linksys4500 just to access USB storage device from anywhere, in my Xfinity home network.

Hello, amateur here. I am an Xfinity xFi customer. I have their XB7 gateway with unlimited data. I also have one xFi pod. I use a Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and iPhone. What I would like to do is attach my LaCie external drive to my old Linksys 4500 router, connect the router to my current network and be able to access it from anywhere.
I originally wanted to just attach it to my Mac mini. But I can’t seem to figure that out properly. I contacted Apple and the guy on the chat said it’s not possible. This is my preferred method as to not have to set up the old router etc. but if that can’t be done, I’d like to do it via the linksys.
Is there an easy step by step way to do this?
I take massive amounts of photos/videos for my family- we have dinners every Sunday (supper old school Italian American family) and my cousins and aunties and mum are always hounding me for pictures of the babies or kids or Nona- even the damn dogs! Lol I’d like to be able to access these photos and videos from my aunts place or my Nona’s or wherever.
Help, please?

2023.05.27 04:39 ChunkyMonkey054 Devices not connecting to closest option, slow internet

My devices are not necessarily connecting to the best option. For example, my PC is 3 feet from an xFi pod with a great connection, but it connects to the gateway which is through a few walls, and 30 feet away. Seems like it should be easy to tell each device where to connect (or for this to be properly automated). Anybody know how to fix it?
I’ve tried resetting the internet, turning my devices on and off, disconnecting devices from the internet and turning them back on, forgetting the network and reconnecting. Nothing seems to work.

Hello, been trying to set up the pods per the instructions but they never get past the last step when it’s states it may take upto 5 minutes to connect. They do show up on the Xfinity app, but always offline. Tried removing and re-adding but still same issue.

2023.05.25 22:21 conejon xFi Complete w/Xfinity Gateway

I got a notice today that I have to order an Xfinity Gateway in order to keep my unlimited data option on xFi Complete. Is there no way to grandfather people on existing plans? I got rid of the Gateway for a reason--it's absolute garbage. Constant disconnects even after numerous on-site tech visits and replacement equipment, etc. I replaced it with a Netgear Nighthawk + Google Nest Wifi, and performance has been flawless ever since. And their "extender pods" are trash as well; each one is its own bubble rather than a true extender, so devices drop signal and reconnect when you move between coverage areas, making things like walking around the house during a wifi call impossible.
If there is no way around this, I am gone. AT&T Fiber just became available in my neighborhood. They probably require their own hardware as well, but knowing about it up front would be an improvement. I will never have Xfinity hardware in my home again.

Unable to view or add xFi pods, or view devices.
Basically the title. My xfinity app has been acting up and nobody, including the customer service folks at xfinity can seem to figure out why. The app doesn’t have the usual bar at the bottom with “Overview, connect, etc.” tabs.
The my account section doesn’t have an option to add an xFi pod. Screenshots are included.
I was having trouble with my internet and called support for help. They ran some “tests” and “resets” and then this happened. Any ideas?

2023.05.18 22:10 aorther Audio continuously losing sync on Roku Streaming Stick and Stick+

I have two roku sticks at either end of my apartment-one right next to my router and the other in the back supported by an Comcast xFi pod. For the past year to year and a half I have been dealing with the audio either losing sync with the tvs such that it is delayed relative to the video or the audio will start popping and losing volume altogether. It happens mostly with the xfinity stream app, but I’ve noticed it in Hulu, Netflix, and others.
I have updated software several times and had Comcast out to re-run a line to my place to fix internet speeds. The issue goes away if I exit out of the show (without exiting out of the app) and then starting it again. This issue has really only popped up in the past year, but it is consistent and happens multiple times a day.
I’ve lurked in this sub for a while and searched online and haven’t seen anyone with a similar issue. I’m wondering if I should just get an Ultra and run a wired connection, but I’d rather not if I don’t have to.
Has anyone dealt with something like this?

2023.05.16 00:10 Outrageous_Slide_186 Should I get a Xfinity XFI POD?

I do a lot of gaming and because my room is far from my router, lagging is a continued issue. I was wondering if I should buy a XFI pod, they are very expensive for me is the problem. If anyone else had/has a similar issue, please comment what you did to fix it. If you know of any reliable products like the XFI pod, please suggest.

2023.05.14 04:22 dudebanner Xfi pods are online. I'm standing in front of them. No wifi signal

The title says it all. I've been screwing around with these damn things for over a month, talked to tech support twice. Rebooted my gateway several times. Moved the pods to different outlets. Tried different configs.
I have one Gen2 pod and three Gen1 pods. On the xfinity app, under devices, all pods have strong connectivity. However, when I stand directly in front of them....no wifi signal.
Please help

2023.05.13 04:58 Frozentrash175 xfi pod not working properly.

I bought a new house in august 2022 that’s around 3,300 square feet and is two floors with a finished basement. When I signed up for xfinity it told me I qualified for 1 free xfi pod. Which is great because the basement can be a little bit of a dead zone and it is also where I spend most of my time working and relaxing. After I received and setup the pod it worked great for the first 6 months. Then it started not connecting to my electronics properly so I removed the pod switched outlets and reinstalled and it worked great again for another 1-2 months then the same thing happened again. Only this time removing and reinstalling didn’t fix the issue so now I had crap service in basement. I contacted customer support and they sent out a tech and he ran test, gave me a better router and said there is nothing wrong with signal and that it has to be issue with the pod so I should return and get new one. I was able to return pod and get new one due to still being under warranty and I connected the pod and everything worked great for a week and the same issues popped up again so obviously the old pod wasn’t the issue. I used a Wi-fi scanner app to test the connection and it was coming in at around -45 rssi with pod plugged in and when I remove pod it comes in closer to -75 Rssi which isn’t great. So it appears pod is making signal stronger but for some reason not reaching devices. My phone won’t connect to Wi-Fi when pod is connected but once removed phone will get on Wi-Fi albeit runs much slower. Pod is plugged into outlet that’s not blocked, I’ve reset router, removed then reinstalled pod but nothing seems to fix the issue and I’m out of ideas and to the point to where I want to cancel service and switch to a different provider. Does anybody know what going on or how I can fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

2023.05.12 00:51 mrzach253 Recommendations for best setup. Mesh network? Coverage recommendations

Coverage spotty at other end of house. I know my gateway location isn’t ideal but all my ethernet cables run into the garage where most of them are plugged into a switch and the rest of them are plugged into the gateway. Phone line was also run into the garage and had Xfinity voice but no longer do so i can move the gateway but then i need to get the internet back to that switch in the garage to go to the other rooms.
I was thinking about putting the gateway into bridge mode and using the TP-Link M9 and plugging those into the cat5 outlets run in the house. Is that the best way to go about it?
-Xfinity gig speed internet
-Xfinity XB8 with 2 of the old style smaller Xfi pods
-Ethernet ran to all the rooms from the garage
-2 story home 1600 square feet

2023.05.06 05:18 allhaildre Best Repeater for Speed/Coverage? Or tips on making mine faster?

Recently bought a repeater for my house and have been lukewarm on the coverage and speed I’m getting. Didn’t expect much as it was a no name from Amazon for $20 but thinking of returning it and spending a little more money if performance would be drastically improved (200mb internet getting 15-20mb on repeater).
Have a mesh network with Xfinity modem and xFi pod to cover the house (both included in my plan) which works great for general internet and getting max speed around the house but is not great for WiFi calls. Cell signal in my house is bad to nonexistent so I have to exclusively use WiFi calling and when I walk between the mesh zones the calls constantly drop. So, unless I’m missing another solution (which tell me if I am), the easiest and cheapest solution is a repeater with a separate SSID just for phones. It’s been working fine for what I need as a phone but would still like better speed.
Anyway, would a better repeater like TP-link or net gear drastically boost my performance, another solution better for what I’m trying to accomplish, or is this about as good as it gets?
