Vegas Loop
  1. Proximity - Allegiant looks like it will have two Loop stations on premises, but technically its not rail so failure I guess, despite Loop with 50 mph average travel speeds being much faster than the 12.5 mph the Minneapolis LRT averages.
  2. Lines available - At least two sets of tunnel pairs will serve Allegiant, but all locations on the Loop system will be accessible, unlike rail interlining.
  3. Average headway - measured in seconds, so the queue will move steadily but not as meaningful given overall volume.
  4. Time to transit transfer point/hub/CBD - One of Vegas Loop's selling points is one seat rides, no transfers required.
How about Vegas Loop's capacity and Elon's recent 10k claim. What would it take to transport 10k total (5000 per tunnel). Assuming 4/5 capacity of Model Ys it would require 2000-2500 vehicles/hour (over two tunnel pairs), which at a one minute per stall rate would require about 30-42 stalls spread out over two stations and 2.9 second headways. This is about the current total number of stalls at LVCC Campus now with 4 stations but does require slightly less than half the current 6s headway.
Loop with sedans will not supplant the top two in terms of capacity, but certainly top 10 is achievable. If TBC uses larger vehicles (8-16 pax) then they could certainly be near the top.
Capacity isn't everything though, CityNerd downgraded Chicago largely because of the 16m walk to the station. It would be interesting to see how Vegas Loop's qualities counteract its reduced capacity. That said, CityNerd is not a fan of Loop, largely based on Loop's failure to match NY's Second Ave Subway capacity (ignoring price/capacity ratio), lack of automation (somewhat fair) and the use of the term monorail in the franchise agreement (snarky).
How much transit demand actually exists at Allegiant stadium (65k)? At Vegas' 4% transit mode share, that would equate to 2600 per hour and is more than what the current game day RTC buses amount to:~2000 pax/hour total (6 lines, 30 minutes, 109 pax, 1308 pax, plus the Deuce (436, 4x109). Even if Loop only provides/induces 5000/hour total rides, that would be a doubling of current transit mode share. TBC is probably fine using Model Ys, at least in the beginning.

Love that people are allowed to remove a stop at the stop
I know it's only 55 cents, it's the fact that people try to do everything they can to scam their drivers. So annoying!

2023.05.10 20:17 Orodruin666 Record Store Recommendations

Hey there, I'll be visiting Pittsburgh in a couple weeks and was wondering if you could give me some recommendations for record stores. I'm looking for either used or new vinyl and my main tastes are metal/vintage prog rock.
I've done some online browsing and Attic and Cruel Noise seem like they would be good places to check out. I'll be staying at the Westin on Penn ave, so anything within walking distance of there would be preferable.
Thanks and I'm looking forward to visiting!
