I have a 2018 JL with the auto start stop. About 6 weeks ago I took my Jeep to a quicklube place attached to a Ford Dealership. While I was there I knew my auto start stop wasn’t working for a long time and I assumed I needed a new auxiliary battery. They were able to change both the main and auxiliary batteries while I was there. The auto start stop started working again and all was good.
Fast forward; about 3 weeks ago I dropped by keep off at a dealer for some insurance coverages hail damage on my hood and to get the doors repaired since their was bubbling of paint from the known issue around the hinges. And they kept the car for about 2 weeks or so.
I got a call near the end of the repair tile saying my radio was acting up and they think I need a new one. Never had an issue with it other than early one when I think it wasn’t playing nice with the backup camera. But other than that it was fine. When I pick up the car the radio will only show the refresh keep logo animation and doesn’t work or show anything. The backup camera works for a bit then turns off after 5 seconds or so. The dealer is ordering a new radio and trying to do a courtesy fix (which I would hope they would since it worked just fine when I dropped it off). But now I’m a month or so without a radio or any information on that screen like Climate control etc (guess parts are slow to come in).
However, the one thing I have noticed is the auto start stop is acting up. It takes maybe 25-30 mins of driving for the battery to charge enough for it to kick on. Which makes me think the auxiliary battery even if it’s new is faulty. I tried to explain this to the dealer but they just dismissed the concern that the auto start stop needs a very specific conditions to work. But I never remember it needing to charge so long in the past. It usually worked after a few minutes. Which makes me think the battery is causing the radio issues too.
Any thoughts?

2023.05.31 16:09 Winter-King-4212 Starter and alternator problem
I have a 2014 jeep grand cherokee v6 gas. The alternator burnt up and almost caught fire. I replaced it and it started happening again immediately after 30 seconds. I looked around at the grounding and wires and this is all I could fine. "1" is barely connected and not bolted properly. Goes to the starter. Would this be the issue? Can some one show me where wire "2" connects and if I'm missing a bolt? That runs from the starter as well. Any other ideas?

2023.05.31 10:52 ikraza 2022 Jeep grand Cherokee. Is leasing a smart idea?
As far as i understand it, leasing is only a good idea if i want to continuously drive newer cars. Here's one i like a lot in regards to features and design. Not the best criteria to base my purchase off of, i know, but if it's a super new car, should i expect major repairs within a 3-Year lease? Is this a smart idea? Maybe not a cheap idea, but for the price of just purely leasing it's a cost i am willing to cover, as long as no major issues appear within the 3 year leasing time. I will go with an expected 15k yearly mileage. Will this car be problematic? I also live in switzerland, where this kind of brand maybe even more expensive to maintain, than a local or japanese brand.

Looking to buy a new suv. My 2009 dodge journey is about to start giving me problems at 165k miles. Shes been good to me as a first vehicle. Im at the point where I'm going to have a consistent job and can get a long term vehicle. I wouldnt like to spend 20k and I wouldn't like to have over 120k miles. I want something that has a screen and backup camera. Being good in the snow is also a huge bonus. Ive looked at grand cherokees and ford explores but when I feel like im getting warm on the perfect vehicle I sware I see a bunch of reviews saying how sh#t or un reliable the vehicle is. Please help...

I am looking to purchase either 2022/2023 Pathfinder or Grand Cherokee because they are two vehicals that can tow 5000+ and fit in my garage. It seems that both are not really super high demand, but didn't know if there was one that was known to have a little more wiggle room on price than the other. I have owned Nissan's and am leaning that way, but the used ones are almost the same price as the new.
I would consider doing private sale to save money, but doesn't seem like many year old ones are sold that way.
Thoughts?

The trailer hitch is no longer on recall. I had a 7 pin installed on my Meridian Turbo. My question is that I have a ball hitch from my old Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 2" drop. I've read that you want your hitch to be 11" from the ground. I'm wondering if I reversed the ball on the 2" drop to make it a 2" rise if that would be a good height. What height ball mount/hitch have any of you used on your CX50's so far?

I’ve been driving myself a little crazy for the past 2 months thinking and searching for the right vehicle. My budget being 30k and definitely not trying to go over 35k I’ve been a bit limited when trying to find the sweet spot between, affordable/reliable/somewhat luxury. I currently own a 2010 Acura TSX but looking for an upgrade and bigger space since I just had a baby. It is very important to me to also in a way treat myself to something I like because I work very hard and never had a car that I loved. My top options right now are: 2020 Jeep grand Cherokee limited X 2020 Acura MDX advance tech. (My budget doesn’t allow for A spec)
Which car is the better option for me? Keep in mind I don’t necessarily need the 3rd row on the Mdx.

Looking for an engine for my 2015 dart sxt. I’ve come across some on eBay motors and it shows that engines from Chrysler 200, Jeep Cherokees and a couple others will fit into the vehicle . My guy told me to preferably find the same vehicle but if I have to go to the others that eBay motors say fit just make sure the motor mounts are in the same position. What I’m asking is that if it’s saying that these can fit my vehicle then the motors mounts must be in the same position, right?

I’ve researched all I can but I don’t wanna spend more money than I should so I figured I’d ask Reddit. My 2002 jeep grand cherokee Laredo stalls out almost every time I drive it and it’ll happen more than once on the same trip. I had a buddy of mine check for codes and he got a pcm one and ignition coils 3, 2, and 1 were bad. From research(googling) I saw some stuff about crankshaft position sensors and was wondering if that could be the cause. I’ve replaced the camshaft one already. Someone please be my savior here, I’m not in a good position to get a new car right now and wanna hang on to this one As long as I can. Thank you in advance

When I turn on my headlights, both taillights (red) illuminate normally. When I press the brake though, only the right hand brake light illuminates (bright red). Likewise, if headlights are off and I press the brake pedal, only the right brake light turns on and the left one stays completely dark. What could be the issue? It seems like no fuses are blown because those would cause both lights to go out, and both bulbs seem to be working if they illuminate as tail lights. Do you think I could service this on my own?

I have a 2016 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo with the stock radio and set up. I’m wanting to know if there is a way to get Apple car play for the radio. I want to be able to pair my phone and watch YouTube or Hulu on lunch breaks or whenever I’m sitting in the car waiting if it ever came up. From what I’ve read online I’m not able to do it. I’ve seen ads online about a device that you can plug into the car to allow it to get car play. But are any of them compatible with my model and year car, does anyone on here have a 2016 jeep grand Cherokee or a bit older that still has the touch screen radio and was able to actually get CarPlay put in without changing the radio faceplate ?
