Before you beat me up, I have a slight nostalgia bias. I saw this twice when it came out, the only film I have ever seen in cinemas twice. I've loved it since it came out, and it was a harsh blow when I found out just how many people absolutely hated it.
I know it does not try to directly follow up from the first film, but I think that was a wise choice. If they did Cars 3 a mere five years after the original, such an arc would be rushed. Picking up McQueen's arc much later meant it felt like he'd passed his prime as it needed to be. I don't mind focusing on Mater, as I actually enjoy him and his bumbling nature. He doesn't need the most emotional arc, but we feel his painful rejection from the world and the "be yourself" message, whilst cliche, is something most of us today still need to hear as we live in a world where some are pressured to be something they're not because they're embarassing or unhelpful. Mater is a good character to fill that kind of story.
The plot is also good in the fact it's not what you'd expect. Spies and cars go together well, so a car equivalent to a James Bond movie is an interesting concept. The lemons are fitting villains since their real life counterparts were also inefficient. The twist at the end does make sense, but probably feels a bit forced. Mater solving the mystery may be a bit unnatural, but it goes to show that people can easily find skills you may not expect from them.
The animation is also great for the time. The exotic locations are large and expansive, and add a wow factor that wouldn't quite be the same if it were just in the desert or Radiator Springs. Cars has it's stunning scenery, but Cars 2 makes the world feel more lived in. Michael Giacchino's score is phoenomenal, always ramping up the tension and keeping the high energy of action scenes. I wouldn't say any actor was miscast and nobody seems to phone in their performance.
I'm glad they made this movie the way they did. Cars wouldn't be as popular if they made one film in the 2000s and then made one sequel a decade later that made you feel old and more or less did the first movie all over again. Lasseter wanted to make this movie not by demand or for profit (regardless of the fact this is still the most financially sucessful Cars movie); he wanted to tell a different story that didn't impact a wider narrative and was just a bit of fun. I still love it, anyone in my family I ask loves it and I don't quite understand why the film is as hated as it is. My best guess is that because it's Pixar, it will be expected to be one of the greatests movie ever made. People expect only masterpieces, which Cars 2 objectively isn't, but it's not terrible and far from the worst film ever made.

Unfortunately due to work schedule and being a dad i cannot play on early launch, thus purchasing a preorder completely pointless since i no longer play D3, never played D:I or WoW and find the horse armour pretty meh.
My question is, will the price drop a bit after launch or is it 69.99 even after release and all the unnecessary skins are just a pre-order bonuses with no real value to me that will no longer be available after 6.06.2023

The pink letter talks about the defeat of Stannis and the capture of Mance, yet in Theon I in WOW, Stannis has not even fought the battle yet, and whats more it seems like he's going to beat the freys.
So, what does this mean? is the letter lying? is it even by Ramsay? I not going to talk about that.
The simple answer is that Jon XIII takes place well after the battle of ice and while Stannis did beat the Freys, he lost to Ramsay just like in the show and just as Theon warns Stannis not to take Ramsay lightly.
So is that it? Is Stannis dead? Well not quite. We still have not seen the events play out and there are two POV characters with Stannis, just like at the battle at kings landing with Tyrion and Davos.
So why set Jon XIII so far ahead of Major events and battles? The answer, Save time.
By setting Jon ADWD furthest along, GRRM can free up space to deal with events that need addressing first, before returning to the Wall towards the end of the book.
To contrast Daenerys' winds chapters will be set well away from the battle of fire, leaving enough time for the events in meereen to play out before she comes back.
The same should be true for Jon's story, as in Dance Jon and Dany are paralleled so this trend should continue in Winds.
Because Winds has alot going on and there are alot of plots that need wrapping up, in order to have the story done in just two books. So it's a must to leave the Jon Story on the back burner in order to focus on more pressing storylines.
Another way to reduce chapters is to kill off major POVs, i've heard it said that Jon should not be a POV again, the reason for it is to save time. But if you are going to end major POV characters to save time just kill Tyrion.
No, instead i think GRRM will leave the Jon story/Wall plot alone and only give them two or three chapters towards the end around 75% to 80% into winds.
By cutting down on the wall plot until the latter part of the book, it allows for major plots that need addressing now more time to wrap up, freeing up space for the Wall plot to continue.

The Good: +New Voice lines and Cosmetics are peak
+Corruptor is a nice, new, and challenging monster that, while being passive until attacked, is definitely something that's high priority. Isn't like a Prospector which just exists and has no effect upon the mission at large, but isn't like a Bat-C or a Korlok which will just brawl on sight.
+Septic Spitter and Stingtail both force movement, stuff that all other enemies don't do as much outside of Bulks. If you try to bunker, the Septic Spitter will make the Bunker a hellscape and the Stingtail will literally drag you out into the fray. This changes the pace of swarms as a whole and overall, these 2 are some of the best monsters that could have been added to the game.
+The M1000 and Subata feel way better to use. Semi-Automatic Weapons eatin' good.
+Lithophage missions feel like a real modifier now. You don't have 3 enemies that are related. You have a whole cast of crawlies related to it now.
+Pop-ups showing where the ding dang Cleaning Supplies are.
The Mid: =New Breeders spit out larva a lot faster than anticipated. Kinda not a fan of it, but overall its still just a breeder.
=Swarm Timer feels borked. But it is pacing the game faster. Mixed opinion on this ince I kinda like it but I'm one who welcomes the killing. Could just be an experimental thing, but genuinely wouldn't mind it staying. It promoted urgency and I'm sure people who are here to make Hoxxes a slag scarred surface love seeing more bugs to obliterate.
=Flappy Bird.
=Corrupters feel super uncommon. Like... super uncommon. I dunno if that's to make them feel like a prize or what but they feel rare. However, I definitely don't want them to be like Meteors and Meteor Showers of season 3 so I welcome them being uncommon.
The Bad: -I don't care what people say, the Subata is still ass. I wouldn't mind using it more to actually gauge its power, but Wave Cooker and EPC just kick its ass in every regard it feels.
-Only the Subata was changed outside of the Input Buffer being added (and a slight M1000 nerf to compensate for that). I don't care what is said, there are weapons that are definitely in need of balance changes. The Stubby and Drak both underperform as a whole with numbers to back it up. This isn't a matter of fun factor, its a matter of "Wow this gun legitimately doesn't do enough to be used". I'd hate to be that guy but holy hell. Can we please just get a weapon balance patch and some OC changes. I don't mind the top end still being the top end, just the low end being worth the time to use.

My boyfriend and I have been seeing each other for more than a year. I love him, we make each other happy and he treats me really well. I trust him, but there’s been something happening that is starting to really bother me concerning his dog’s vet tech.
For background, my boyfriend has a senior dog who has recently had some health issues. This dog is his literal child and his whole world, which is something I love about him. I’ve grown to love the dog as well, and even got my boyfriend a funny custom portrait of the dog dressed as a king which he now has hanging in his apartment.
Since the dog has had health issues, he’s recruited his new-ish regular vet tech to come over 2-3 times a week to give him IVs for his kidneys. She’s somewhere around 30yo maybe. I live 45 minutes away, I haven’t met her and am not present for this. Not to be mean, but this woman is not someone my boyfriend finds attractive, nor do I. I didn’t think anything of it until the following:
1st Red Flag: I was on Venmo and saw that he paid her for her services the first time. She sent it back saying “just FYI, this will happen every time”. He sent it back to insist she gets paid, but I found it strange she would go so far out of her way to provide professional services and not expect payment. It made it seem like she was implying it’s personal favor. I let that go, but mentally noted it.
2nd: I notice she casually texts him very often, making friendly small talk about their dogs and day to day things. She comments on all his instagram pictures. As a woman, I wouldn’t regularly, casually text a guy I’m supposed to have a professional relationship with unless I wanted more than that, especially one who has a girlfriend. I mentioned this to him and he seemed to get annoyed that I would imply it was anything more than motivated by friendliness. I let that slide as well and apologized.
Finally: My boyfriend is graduating with his MBA soon. Yesterday, the tech came over to give the dog his usual IV. My boyfriend sent me a picture of a gift she had gotten him- a custom portrait on canvas of the dog’s face with a grad cap and gown on because she “saw the portrait” I had made. She spent time, energy, and money on this gift and essentially copied the gift I had gotten him. I just said “wow she’s very dedicated!” And changed the subject, but I was extremely annoyed that he wasn’t stating what is so obvious to me. There’s no way this is how she treats all of her patients. Selfishly, I was also kind of bummed that she included herself in something that was originally a gift/joke between just him and I.
I talked to some friends and my mom about this, and they agreed that she’s crossing the line with how overly friendly and involved she’s making herself. I’m annoyed that my boyfriend isn’t recognizing this, nor is he drawing any boundaries with her when it’s clearly making his girlfriend uncomfortable. I know he would feel the way I do if the roles were reversed. Personally, I check myself when I’m interacting with a man who is in a relationship, and avoid doing or saying anything that could be misconstrued as flirtation or being overly-friendly, just out of respect.
On the other hand, I understand he’s in a tough position and doesn’t want to make things weird with her for the sake of his dog’s health. It’s difficult to find someone his dog is used to as much as it’s difficult to find someone willing to provide this service. I don’t want to come across as uncaring of that factor.
How should I approach this with him? What should I ask of him? I don’t think it’s reciprocated, and I don’t think anything is going on or will happen. I do, however, wish he would at least recognize it and make me feel like he’s willing to protect our relationship and draw lines with people. I in no way expect him to cut her off, nor do I want to control him. I don’t want him to feel like he’s done anything wrong. However, his lack of recognition of what’s SO obvious is making me resent him. Help :(
