2023.05.31 19:07 ElMiguel- A Big Update On 'Everything We Know About Stormgate – A Giant Compilation (With Sources)'
Hey guys!
I made a big update to the “Everything We Know About Stormgate – A Giant Compilation (With Sources)” post, increasing its size by almost
50 percent! The
original post has now been divided into two: The main body of the post, and a second part in the comments (because it surpassed the character limit). The direct link to the 2nd part in the comments is
here.
I’ve also made some wording and grammar changes, and added extra sources for some of the points.
And that’s not all! I’m happy to announce that I’m now a part of
Stormgate Nexus and have also posted the full undivided post on the SGNexus page
here. The SGNexus version also has some nice additions, like the inclusion of images (including a cute turtle and the meme chicken), email screenshots, and a few developer quotes.
And in case you haven’t seen it yet, one of our mods
u/_Spartak_ has included a shortcut at the top of the subreddit where you can access the post.
It was also included in the
Welcome & FAQ page of the subreddit under the question “How can I learn more about Stormgate?”, so you can easily access the post whenever you want, even as it falls from the top of the subreddit into the abyss.
But What If I Already Read the Whole Post? Worry not! You won’t have to reread everything again looking for what has been added.
Below is a compilation of every new point that has been included in the post, organized by subheading.
And if you see a paragraph fully italicized like this, it’s because it was in the original post, but was included here to provide context for a new paragraph. Enjoy!
What Is Stormgate?
- Stormgate will be available on Steam for Windows PCs. Specific system requirements have not been revealed, but you can get a baseline by seeing Unreal Engine 5’s requirements. 1
Races
- The Human Resistance’s mechanics have been described as having a Protoss-like mechanic, a couple of mechanics that felt Terran-like and WC3 Human-like by Neuro, who got to play the game early.5
- He also mentions that it didn’t feel exactly like playing Terran. 6
- The Infernal Host is described as the “Swarm” faction, which uses superior numbers to overwhelm enemies.7 But they may have playstyles that have a lower number of more elite units. 8
- In general, they’re experimenting with factions having different “tracks” or “trees” of compositions, some with more units, some with fewer, similar to SC2 Terrans, which has a playstyle of few very powerful units (Mech), and a higher-numbers, higher mobility playstyle (bio). 9
- Pre-apocalypse humans had a lot of research and technology aimed at dealing with climate change. Their roster will have a variety of units that were repurposed from tasks such as agriculture and industry into war, providing an army that has a lot of supportive, healing, and synergy units. 10
- They’re aiming for about as much military unit asymmetry as SC2, but more worker asymmetry than SC2 had, moving closer to WC3’s level of worker asymmetry. 11
- Asymmetrical late game design for races: instead of just balancing the game around big late game army vs big late game army, they instead want differences like one faction being a better ability to harass the opponent, while another is better at direct big army combat, for instance. 12
Economy
- There will be 2 resources: a plentiful resource akin to minerals in Starcraft, and a “tech” resource that is rarer, akin to vespene gas. One of the advantages of a tech resource is that it can give scouting opportunities, such as by deducing how much gas an opponent can have. 14
- The tech resource is called “Therium” and is described as “crystalline”. Human resistance workers will return to the refinery with Therium after it’s been collected, rather than returning to the main base structure. 15
- The second resource has been described as “unlike anything we've seen in previous Blizzard RTS.” 16
- They do not plan on having a Warcraft 3-style upkeep system, where you get lower income as you reach higher supply thresholds. 24
The Engine
- Games can support up to 1300 units in a single game. 30
- The ability to spectate games after they’ve started, similar to Dota 2 and Age of Empires 4, is in consideration, and they’re building the tech in a way that allows them to include the feature even if it isn’t there on launch. 33
New Player Experience & Making the Game More Approachable
- The Infernal Host has a unit called the “Shadowflier”, described as an early flying scout unit55 and Neuro mentions an early cheap scouting unit for the Humans.56 These two units further confirm that each race will have early and affordable methods of scouting.
- The human scout unit has been described as a “Cute little scouting unit“53 and may be the small spider-like robot on the left from this mousepad art, or the drone seen on the trailer. This is just speculation and it could be something else entirely.
- One of their core philosophies is that each of the 4 main game modes (Campaign, Co-op, Ranked PVP, and Custom Games) are largely isolated game modes, with little crossover and conversion from one game mode to another. They will focus on providing each segment with significant support and will not focus on trying to use one game mode as an on-ramp for another game mode (like using the campaign as an onboarding step towards Ranked PVP). 59
Heroes
- If Heroes are in 1v1, they’re unlikely to be like Warcraft 3’s (high power, centers army around them, leveling, items and inventory, attributes, etc), as Frost Giant has expressed disliking some of the downsides of Warcraft 3’s hero design like snowballing and having fewer army splits due to the centralization of combat around heroes. 63
- We also have confirmation that Heroes won’t have an inventory and items like in WC3. 64
Game Speed
- Similar to SC2 in how fast the game start is, following a design philosophy that is closer to the 12-worker start era of SC2 than the 6-worker start era. 68
- On top of this, Neuro says it felt a little bit slower to expand than Starcraft 2’s Zerg Hatch First, but about the same speed as a Terran. 69, nice
Maps
- They’re experimenting with having more terrain levels/layers than SC2, where the maps mostly had just 2 levels. 79
Deathballs
- Late game units will also be more specialized to have greater room for counters and army composition shifting and adaptation, rather than finding the perfect good-against-everything unit and spamming it, or having the perfect mix of units that never needs to be changed. 82
Turtling
- They identify turtling as a potential problem, and one that can make some games stretch for longer than they should. Part of the way they’re addressing this is experimentation with powerful late game finisher units to break turtling and finish the game when you’re ahead instead of not being able to end the game against a turtler. 83
- “Lumbering mega units” is mentioned in this comment too.
Team Games (3v3 Ranked PVP)
- The 3v3 mode will be more objective-based. 93
- Creeps (Neutral enemies to defeat on the map) in 3v3 will have rewards for the entire team, rather than just the player who did them (it won’t necessarily be every creep). 94
Story
- In the cinematic trailer, we see a human archeologist retrieve a powerful shield amid ruins. According to the email “Re: War Update”, this shield is called the “Aegis Cipher”, and is a relic.
- The shield isn’t just for blocking demonic attacks. It also has a constellation map that can be used to find the locations of relics that have been hidden for millennia. Part of the campaign will be about retrieving said relics to help fight against the Infernal Boogaloo. 105
- The current moment in the story will also be represented in other game modes. For instance, if the new season is covering the story in a new place, that new place would have new tilesets, which would also be used on ranked maps. 109
- The choice of setting came from asking “What is a universe that allows us to tell the stories that we want to tell” and that allows for specific game mechanics they want in the game. 110 And it provides a wide range of nerdy concepts – magic, fantasy, sci-fi, technology, etc. 111
- There are already 5 years of the story planned out. 112
Co-Op Commanders
- Forced cooperation sucks (like needing both you and an ally to stand on the objective together), as it can result in frustrating experiences where your ally doesn’t do the objective with you. As such, Stormgate’s Co-op will avoid implementing it. In its place, they want an “extreme bonus” philosophy, where you can get the objective just by yourself, but it goes 10x faster with an ally present as well. 123
Custom Games & The Editor
- They have 3 core pillars for the editor: The Terrain Editor (Create Melee Maps), the Script Editor (Create different game types), and the Data Editor (Allows you to create new units and abilities). These 3 should allow people to make the vast majority of maps that can already be made in SC2. 129
- They want to have visual/flowgraph scripting for the script editor to facilitate use. 130
- Data editing will be made much easier to use, especially on the Simple mode of the editor. 131 And they want the editor and its hotkeys to mimic the game in some way to make it easier to get into the editor. It might have grids, for instance. 132
- They’re trying to make the designers at FGS use the tools that will also be provided for modding. They weren’t there yet at the time of the interview but were getting closer to it.133 They want it to reach the point where players can open and look at the FGS-built maps and projects to see how they were built using the same tools that will be available to players. 134
- Doing this is really hard and requires a lot of work, which showcases their commitment to modding and custom games. 135
- The UI system is an exception, where they’re using the Unreal Engine 5 UI system to create Stormgate’s UI and modders won’t have said tools in the in-game editor. But they’re considering implementation with UE5 so players who create new UI-related modding on UE5 can import it to Stormgate, and are also considering to add a secondary modding tool just for UI. 136
- They have many ideas for editor tutorials. They may not have enough time and resources to build them. They’re also considering user-created tutorials. 138
- They found bite-sized tutorials to be the most effective, e.g teach people how to make a unit, then how do you make a turret, and so forth one piece at a time, instead of a complete “how to make a TD game”, as it makes learning less overwhelming. They’re also looking at “example maps” as an example of bite-sized teaching, where editors interact with a map that is just a standard rules map + a single change like a certain unit getting one new ability. 139
- Steam Workshop integration isn’t completely out of the table, but it is unlikely to be implemented since their mods are expected to be multiplayer and for most maps and mods to be multiplayer, unlike Steam Workshop’s single player focus. It would also be limiting in case they branch out to more platforms other than Steam. 140
- You’ll be able to use the editor for camera changes and manipulation.141 It could be used for creating cutscenes. 142
Esports
- Besides the official pro circuit, they’re also going to allow 3rd party events, instead of banning non-official competitions. 147
- Not only that, but they also plan to integrate community tournaments into the path to pro to make a cohesive esports system/circuit. 148
Progression
- There will be out-of-game progression. SC2 had a limited out-of-game progression system that was very short, but they want Stormgate to have a more robust one, and for you to always earn some progression after each game, even after losses. 157
Post-Release Content
- Besides new units coming into the game, we might also see unit replacements (existing unit(s) rotating out of the faction's roster). 170
Patches
- New competitive balance changes will have a testing phase, where you’ll be able to test the changes before they’re implemented to make sure they’re good enough and to prepare pro players for the next patch. 176
Concept Art
- One of the goals of the art style and graphics is the visibility and readability of units and the battlefield. They also want backgrounds to be more lit and brighter to improve readability. 177
- New big concept art source (Human Resistance concept art 1)
How Can I Support Frost Giant?
- The biggest factor right now is wishlisting it on Steam. It may seem useless at first, but wishlisting is a big deal because the more wishlisted a game is, the more the game will be showcased on Steam.
- We’ve recently become the 95th most wishlisted game on Steam and got some extra concept art for it! Let’s get it higher boys! 184
Spellcasters (New Subheading)
- Neuro’s first playtest had a low number of spellcaster units on the army roster.185 The devs also mentioned how they like to make units distinct without adding new active abilities since they can increase the complexity of the army and multiple spellcasters management, which might mean we’ll get fewer spellcasters per faction in Stormgate than in SC2/WC3. 186
Confirmed Units (New Subheading)
- Lancer: A tanky tier 1 melee unit with slightly longer reach than other melee units due to its long spear. They have an ability that allows them to deflect ranged attacks. They might also have some sort of damage reduction against large single instances of damage, similar to the Starcraft 2 Protoss Immortal. 187
- Evac: The arliest flying unit of the Human Resistance. It has the ability to carry units. They won't have any other capabilities besides carrying units. 188
- Vulcan: A mech that deals damage in a cone are and increases its attack speed the longer it keeps firing. It also has a jetpack movement ability that dashes to a location and stuns the enemies it passes through. 189
We have seen multiple other unit arts and screenshots (including Infernal ones), like those on the Concept Art subheading, but we have no confirmation on their mechanics.
Gameplay Footage Shown (New Subheading)
- We’ve seen screenshots (like those at Steam), and two very short clips during Summer Games Fest 2022, but no full in-game footage yet.
- This little Valentine’s clip showcases the Machine Factory building (with a Valentine’s skin) and a snippet of official music.
More Gameplay Footage When? (New Subheading)
June 11th at the PC Gaming show at 1 PM PDT / 4 PM EDT / 10 PM CEST.
190 Big Names Behind Stormgate
- Micky Neilson: Stormgate’s Lead Narrative Designer who worked as Publishing Lead for Blizzard, managing books, comics, and short stories for the company. He has also worked as Story Lead for Hearthstone and has authored multiple comics and stories for Warcraft, Starcraft, Overwatch, and Diablo. He also wrote some of the unit lines in SC2 and WC3. His works “World of Warcraft: Ashbringer” and “World of Warcraft: Pearl of Pandaria” have both made it to the New York Times Bestsellers list.
- Trevor Housten: The Senior Esports Manager you’ll often see answering esports-related questions on Frost Giant interview. He’s worked at Blizzard for 8 years on the esports division, and at esports-related jobs at GoMTV, IGN, and OGN before that. He’s behind much of the vision for Stormgate esports.
- Tracy W. Bush: Do you love SC1 and Warcraft 3 music? Then you’ll be happy to hear that the same sound designer and composer that worked on those titles is also collaborating with Frost Giant to create new iconic RTS music. He has also worked on Warcraft 2, Diablo 2, and World of Warcraft.
Miscellaneous
- “…and it [replay system] will have similar baseline functionalities as Wings of Liberty’s replay system had at launch – with features like speed up/down, pause, rewind, and more.” 192
- Highest supply on a single unit will be 8-10 supply. 200
- There is no SC2 Archon mode planned. 201
- They want to have more post-game stats. SC2 had a few of these, like tracking your APM and supply blocked time on the post-match screen and telling you whether you’ve performed above average. Stormgate is planned to have an expanded version of this, with even more stats being tracked. 202
- FGS was founded in 2020 and Stormgate has been in production since then. 203
- The philosophy on camera zoom level is that they want it to be restricted since players can optimize the fun out of the game by using a high zoom out option that gives gameplay advantage but reduces the fun of the game by making it harder to tell what’s going on and making the art less pronounced. 204
- There won’t be naval combat at launch. 205
- Units will have funny voice lines. 206
- Frost Giant is taking an inclusive methodology to game development, with consistent ongoing design discussions, where FGS proposes a topic to discuss about, and later gives their organized ideas on the topic. You can see the list of topics here. And the latest discussion as of this post is about progression. 207

2023.05.31 18:49 Portal-YEET-87650 Why aren't player made maps available publicly?
I like the fact Fall Guys has a creative mode now, and it's cool we can all make our own maps. But right now, only Mediatonic's maps are promoted, to play other's maps you need a code to join, so only private matches can be hosted. I think that, during normal rounds, random maps made by the players should be chosen to be rounds, and there should be a line of popular, new and updated maps, just like in Fortnite.

2023.05.31 18:40 Rokineisnn Hot take on the new ranked system
It is great! And it needs to stay this way. (It's not about RMR, as it is weird and needs time, maybe)
Ranked is a competitive mode, and the goal of a competitive mode is to replicate the experience of pro gameplay (to some extent, not fully. Chill angry casual player)
Do you see any pro team rat and hit 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place consistently without playing? No.
Why is that? Because no pro team drops with the other 3 teams and gambles their 1st fight to be the last. Also, they don't fully commit to a fight if other teams are nearby as it is just griefing your game and the team that you are engaging. Therefore, the last ring consists of many teams who play for positioning and no rat can survive that. It happens occasionally that a rat gets a high placement but it is not a rule. While on ranked you have a bunch of apes who hot drop and die. While you land on a side to loot, and after 4 mins, you are already earning points because half a lobby is somehow dead. In reality, you should be fighting for that 10th place, while now you are just gifted it because people do not think whether fights are worthwhile, they just think "Go shoot!". After that, they cry that a 3rd party came in to get them.
This kind of attitude would get you nowhere in professional play, and it makes the whole competitive mode less competitive. Also, it is far less fun to play the end game.
You should be thinking about how to eliminate the most teams without getting eliminated. This is how battle royale works. If someone says, you don't get to fight, oh you do. The ring forces you.
This season was the most fun season ever because of the last rings. I had games with 3-8 teams in the last ring, and it is utter fucking chaos. The way battle royale should feel.
There is room for balancing entry costs, points received for kills/assists, and placement. I think we will have them adjusted in the future. But placements should give the most points, and reaching 10th place should cover your entry cost, the way it is right now.
It would be nice to see a pro saying that ranked is decent but scrims are better. Now, they think that ranked is useless and gives you bad habits, and should be avoided.
Disclaimer: I agree that it's not as fun to loot and play for positioning. It's less rewarding and less fun. If that is the case for you, please play trios until you want to play comp. Because otherwise, comp simply becomes another option for trios. Comp needs to be sweaty to some degree, now bronze and diamond feel the same.
TL;DR If everyone would play competitive mode properly the ranked system would make sense. But the community is a bunch of apes who want to engage in every fight and should play trios.
If someone wrote this already, I do apologize but I see most of the posts claim that the system sucks.

2023.05.31 18:39 Muted_Carrot_2387 8 streak lost in dropshot w/ questions
Today I continue posting about my grind to grand champ in dropshot and I really need some tips. I lost 8 games in a row deranking from Plat 3 div 4 to Plat 3 div 1 1 lost from demotion.
- How to win 3v2s? I know it sounds so stupid but I genuinely struggle winning these. I'm never cocky and confident as I'm very aware the other team can still win. But today I lost 2 game in a row where it was a 3v2. I just can't seem to outplay them with my tm8s. This also happens in regular comp modes.
- How to deal with toxic players? I leave text to chat on to have fun chats or to explain my thought process during a play if my tm8s question it. Every 4 games or so I get a toxic teammate who will what a save even if we're down 1 goal. They'll start to blame say we're trash and stuff.
I make mistakes every once in a while and ofc I have the occasional own goal and stuff and I just get shat on by my teammates. So I'm wondering how to deal with this? I simply cannot comprehend the amount of stupidity that comes out of some people's mouths man.
- Should I play differently? I play a 3rd man sorta role and I put trust into my tm8s to hit aerials or very basic mechanics. This sometimes leads to the opponents scoring simply because I let my teammate go for it instead. I normally go for ceiling shots, air dribbles and aerials which I am very confident I can do all 3 very well. I mean I practice at least 2 hours a day on all of those.
- Should I trust my tm8s? I put trust into my tm8s and I don't know if I should double commit or put trust into them. Because I don't wanna double commit if I'm left flying in the air with the ball on our side. I also don't want my tm8s to get pissed because I don't trust them.

2023.05.31 18:23 k819799amvrhtcom Self-Imposed Videogame Challenge: Trans Ally Edition!
TL;DR (spoilers): You, and anyone who wants to try the challenge with you if it's a multiplayer game, are a trans ally, and your job is to collect $25,000 or the equivalent thereof in in-game money (rounded up to the next smallest divisible part) for your transgender friend's transition in less than 31 in-game years. Everything is allowed. You do not have to finish the game. Want a new and interesting way to play your favorite videogame? I got one with a transgender theme that is interesting, challenging, easy to implement, and compatible with almost any videogame, so it's
a Mario challenge,
a Pokémon challenge,
a Minecraft challenge, and so on and so forth, all at the same time!
The Plot
You, and anyone who wants to try the challenge with you if it's a multiplayer game, are a trans ally, and your job is to collect money to pay for your transgender friend's transition. You win by acquiring enough in-game money. You are allowed to consult the internet, use passwords from the internet,
commit in-game crimes, purchase microtransactions,
abuse glitches, use cheat codes, and even hack the game to reach your goal, but is it really worth the effort? You are kinda expected to use the easiest way to win the challenge that you know of.
The Rules
Rule #1: You have to get the money you need for a transition. In order to make the challenge less boring for you, I did the research for you and came to the result of
$25,000. However, this value might change if you try out this challenge in the far future, meaning that this challenge technically changes depending on when you attempt it. The value is expected to rise even further with inflation, or perhaps it might be reduced with the invention of more efficient surgery techniques. If the USA ever starts getting the universal healthcare system or a societal breakdown makes these surgeries impossible, this challenge will refer to the cost of the legal name & gender change, instead. And if that also ever becomes free then just choose a different country where it isn't free yet. But this is not going to change anytime soon (When do you think this challenge will become obsolete?) so, for now, you just have to remember to collect $25,000 in in-game money. This applies to every game that uses $ for in-game money. If the game uses £ or ¥ or € or any other real-world value, you'll have to convert it.
Here's an online tool for converting currencies, which also supports various cryptocurrencies and custom rate dates. If the maximum amount of in-game money you can hold at once is less then the challenge is simply impossible.
This only applies to non-videogame currencies. Rule #2: If the in-game currency is fictional then you'll have to convert it (rounded up to the next smallest divisible part). It's easy if you can buy in-game money
with real money, even if that feature doesn't work because of a glitch or something. Otherwise, you'll have to do some research. If you can't find any direct information on the internet, I would suggest starting
here to get a basic idea on how to calculate that. If there are multiple in-game currencies you are allowed to split the price of the transition among them in any way you want, provided you know the value of all of them. If there is no in-game currency then you are allowed to
use points instead. If the game doesn't have points either then you can try to invent a
substitute currency but it has to be something that would actually work as a substitute currency in the world you're in. If that's not possible either then the only way for you to win this challenge is to raise real money by doing a let's play of the game. But then you'll have to actually pay for a real trans person's transition (yourself included) or donate the money to transgender-related causes to actually win the challenge.
Here's a website that lets you donate for transgender causes. If
the amount of in-game money you can hold at once is less or you were unable to find out how much you need then you are also allowed to simply collect the maximum possible amount instead because
games will never ask you for more money than you can hold for a single product, meaning that this would have to be the in-game prize of a transition, as transitions are always for only a single person.
This only applies to videogame currencies. Rule #3: You do not need to finish the game. All you need to do to win this challenge is to get the money somehow. Please keep in mind that the exchange rate isn't constant. The exact amount you need to win the challenge has to be enough in the moment when you have the amount. You automatically win the challenge the moment this is the case.
Rule #4: You need to get the money in less than 31 in-game years. This number was calculated by subtracting the age at which children begin to have an innate sense of their own gender (4 years) from the average lifespan of a trans person (35 years). If the game has time-travelling elements, you are allowed to use those to extend the time limit. However, it only counts if this actually involves time itself and not just the timer. The same also goes the other way around:
Travelling into the future or even
moving in relativistic speeds will decrease the time limit. If the time limit runs out, I hope you have a way to return back to the past later!
Rule #5: If you can choose between multiple difficulty settings, you are allowed to choose the easiest one. In fact, you are expected to.
Trans people are already on hard mode and the idea of being an ally is to specifically use the possibilities given to you to help those with fewer possibilities than you. If you have the option to select an easier difficulty setting which would make it easier for you to win this challenge, use it. Even if you're already used to playing on a higher difficulty mode. Not doing so would be considered bad strategy on your part. You are allowed to choose a higher difficulty setting, but please only do so if this actually gives you some advantages, like more rewards, more levels, or faster gameplay. This challenge gives you no bonus points for selecting a higher difficulty setting.
Rule #6: Emulation, and all tricks that come with it, are explicitly allowed. Doing so might be against the law but it is explicitly
not against the rules of this challenge. The reason for this is because being transgender has been illegal for a long time and still is in many states, forcing many people to break the law in order to live their lives.
The police have historically targeted trans and gender non-conforming folks. Stonewall was a riot against police brutality. I am not advocating for doing anything illegal. I am, however, saying that you should never use the law to argue for the morality of anything trans-related, as doing so would be disrespectful towards a huge part of transgender history. Therefore, this rule will remain in effect even if being transgender ever becomes legal worldwide.
In order to make the challenge
even less boring for you, I have started researching loads of fictional currencies and how much money you would have to collect there for this challenge so you don't have to.

The values are not guaranteed to be accurate. In fact, I have found many cases of contradictory information on the internet. But you don't care about that anyway, do you? This isn't about the exact value anyway. These are all meant to be rough estimates to give you a sense of scale.
The Motivation
I was inspired by
my Pokémon Trans Ally challenge that is about collecting money for a trans person's surgery. If you actually attempt this challenge you'll see that it'll usually be a very long and tedious challenge that will require a lot of experimentation, long-term planning, and doing the same things over and over again for a very long time,
especially if you wanna try this as a speedrun. If the challenge bores you out, well,
that is the point! The challenge is meant to give people with little or no sense of money an impression of how much money this really is! Now, you could argue that this challenge could theoretically be used to visualize
any amount of money, and you would technically be correct, but I still think that a transgender transition is one of the best matches for this challenge because:
- A transition is always only for one person. We aren't talking about a company buying another company or a country investing in more infrastructure. This is something within the realm of a single person so it makes sense to have this be a challenge for a single person or a small group.
- This is not a luxury item like a famous painting or a private jet. Overwhelming scientific evidence proves that this is a medical necessity that trans people require in order to live like the majority of people. It is not something you want but something you need. So you can really say that acquiring all this money is really something that they have to go through. Therefore, unless you are transgender yourself, I would really recommend you to actually play the challenge until the end, even if it takes you years to actually do so. Not for your enjoyment but to acknowledge trans people's struggles and maybe also to protest against the gatekeeping system.
- Unlike people who regularly need medications, the transgender transition is a once-in-a-lifetime thing and is therefore compatible with a challenge that you only play through once and then never again.
- Once your transition is over, it cannot be taken from you.
- It is not possible to request the costs to be paid for you if you can prove that you cannot afford it, meaning the only way to get it is to actually get the money.
- Being trans is not an illness or a disability. Trans people never did anything wrong, neither deliberately nor accidentally. They are simply born with a condition that requires them to get the money. Trans people are therefore as guilt-free as a typical videogame hero.
Do you know anything more expensive that fulfills all those criteria?
The Fun Facts
- If you collect 1,000,000 coins in Super Mario Bros. 2, you win a golden Mario statue. This is actually more money than required for the trans ally challenge!
- If payment by installments were supported by this challenge then the most cumbersome game to do this challenge in would be The Binding of Isaac, because that would require you to send at least 25,253 installments. You would have to max out your money counter every 10¾ hours on average.
- You immediately win the challenge if you try it on a game where the money you start with is already high enough. For example, in the game The Roll Ahead, you play as either Bill Gates or Steve Jobs and you start out with 35 Billion.
- In the game Anti-Monopoly, you win by losing your money. However, if you try this challenge in this game, you'll still have to gain money. This is kinda the opposite of a coinless challenge because where a coinless challenge makes positive money negative, this challenge makes negative money positive.
- Characters like the monk from Crypt of the NecroDancer, Entity from depict1, and Default Dan from Default Dan die upon touching money. Kinda makes you think, doesn't it?
- The purple coins in the Super Mario Galaxy series, the Butz in Kappa Mikey, the Glotkies in Taxi, the coins in Syobon Action, and the Rasbukniks in Li'l Abner are worth nothing.
- If World of Anime Babes was a real game then this challenge would require 1,250,000,000 tokens. As the narrator said: "Big numbers are better, right?" One way to get this money would be by selling like 1,000 in-game outfits.
- If you are playing a game taking place in the medieval time, the challenge would require you to get 411¼ medieval pennies.
- If you wanna make the monetary values more immersive, you can look at how they are depicted in the menu of microtransactions. For example, Clash of Clans groups predefined values of gems into bags, sacks, boxes, and chests that therefore represent specific amounts of gems and could therefore be regarded as higher currency units. For example, 2,500,000 gems fit into 179 chests. Sure, this won't help you with strategizing, but it will certainly make it more interesting for your audience!
- According to this article, this challenge would require you to get 129,058,751 Simeons. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to determine which franchise Simeons are from.
- The Ztars from Mario Party and the Rupoors from The Legend of Zelda are currencies that actually take money away from you, making their exchange rates negative!
- If Terrance & Phillip: Give Us Your Money was a real game then this challenge would require 10,204,200 Canadian Coins. This value was calculated under the assumption that everyone would realize that the cheapest deal is actually the best deal. One way to get this money would be by not playing the game 2,041 times. Oh good, you're already on it. But will you make it within the time limit?
- The values of LEGO Studs were calculated using the value of a human life. If you applied this logic to every game with currency units that are worth ¹⁄₁₀₀ life each then a single one of those currency units would already be enough to win this challenge and if you applied this logic to every game where 10,000 points give you an extra life then this challenge would require you to earn 32 points, but only if there isn't already an in-game currency.
- The fictional currency with the highest inflation rate I could find was in Elbonia, the rate being 1,000,000,000% daily. Despite the high time limit, I would recommend you to hurry with getting enough money there if you even can.
- The average age at the time the RTS Rise of Nations takes place in was roughly 31 years, which would reduce this challenge's time limit to 27 in-game years at most. Which would be about 2.08 real-time seconds according to estimations made by PeanutButterGamer, according to which the time limit for Diablo would be 6 in-game years and the challenge would be impossible for SimAnt.
- For obvious reasons, a society can only survive if its maximum lifespan is at least the minimum age of fertility. Due to precocious puberty, the world records for the youngest biological parents are 9 years for microgametic parents and 5 years and 7 months for macrogametic parents, meaning that the maximum lifespan of any human society must always be at least 9 years. Since 9 years are more than 4 years, it therefore follows that transgender healthcare benefits all possible human societies. Remember this if you ever attempt this challenge on a game that takes place in a society where these values are different for whatever reason, like a society of anthropomorphic animals for example.
- If the average lifespan was less than 4 years then the average lifespan of a trans person would actually be higher than the average lifespan as a whole. This is because trans people who die before the age of 4 would not be included in the statistic, due to being undetectable. If that happens, you'll have to recalculate what the statistic would be.
- Transgender surgery is older than the discovery of Pluto, modern toilet paper, chicken tikka masala, duct tape, ballpoint pens, ciabatta bread, Velcro, and Tupperware.
- The Wumpa Fruit from Crash Bandicoot are also a form of currency, as was revealed in some games. A Wumpa Fruit is worth exactly the same as a piece of gold in Skylanders. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find out what either of those are worth.
- The most valuable fictional currency that I could find was the Aqua from High Frontier 4 All, which is estimated to be a three-digit million $ amount.
- Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash value Gem Apples differently. I based their value on Super Kirby Clash because Team Kirby Crash Deluxe only lets you purchase a maximum of 3,000 Gem Apples, meaning that Super Kirby Clash would be more practical for purchases over $29.85. Noone would accept a payment of 838 installments if a more practical way of payment is possible.
- This challenge would require 2,500,000 Nuggets in the game PokéHeroes but I didn't add it to the list because it's a fangame and I didn't wanna confuse.
---
/uj If you donate gold in Gaia Online, the company will donate money to charity. I find this mechanic to be a really good idea and I would like to see it more often because it enables players to support the less fortunate without having to donate their own money. Just imagine if every game on this list gave you the option to donate $25,000 worth of in-game money which would then be donated to transgender causes and unlock the Trans Ally achievement! I know it would be very cumbersome to unlock, but completionists would definitely go for it and also, it would be done for a good cause!

I will play games with you, I will also VC with you, but I'm not a serious player though. I mostly just fool around on purpose. 🤣 I haven't recently been playing anything multiplayer, but I still have Fortnite and Apex ready to go at any time. Other than that I have watched a lot of Anime and Kdramas if you wanted to theorize. I am an Introvert, so conversation text wise I'm pretty dry they say. 🤷♂

2023.05.31 18:13 TheDavinciChode88 Breaking News: Donald Trump Releases His Top 10 All-Time
- Greg Ostertag: Intelligent, High-IQ, plays the game the right way.
- TJ McDonald's: Scrappy, hard working, god-fearing
- Steve Novak: Insanely smart. Knows the game. Fits in instead of fitting out.
- Kevin Love: A master tactician. Good ole boy. Face of a franchise.
- Austin Reaves: One hell of an American. Embodies true American values. Hard work, perseverance, love of Christ, faith in god
- Steve Nash: One of the smartest men ever to lace em' up. Not an athlete. He won with his brain against players with lesser intelligence. Not a THUG bone in his body.
- Jerry West: The American dream. Played the game right. Nothing selfish or ignorant. Never even broke the law.
- Dirk: You could bring him home to your mama but he had that DOG in him too.
- Bill Walton: No guns. No drugs. No crime. No nothing. He is what Naismith dreamed of when he made this sport. Someone who played with a lunch pale but slept in a mansion. Ultra HIGH IQ.
- Larry Bird: Larry was a genius in a game full of thugs and didn't have anywhere near the physical gifts of "those players", but he outsmarted everyone by actually waking up and working hard, paying his taxes, getting an education, and loving uncle sam instead of being the enemy. Larry won with his brain. PLain and simple.
NOTE: This list is full of HIGH-IQ, INTELLIGENT players ONLY. some people might complain that ONLY HIGH-IQ players are on this list. But it has nothing to do with race. It's only about their IQ NOT their RACE. Stop making this ABOUT RACE. It's about INTELLIGENCE.

2023.05.31 18:09 Nerisrath Bot farming in Tetris99?
Has anyone encountered bots in game. Not the CPU players, but actual AI bots.
I recently started playing Tetris again, and have been hitting 99 pretty hard for 3 days now, and my reflexes aren't too shabby. Today I got into a game and as I was quick dropping my 3rd piece I got hit with 4 lines of garbage from a single source no more than 1.5 - 2 full seconds into the game (if that). within two more pieces I was KO'ed in 98th place. what the everloving??? - If it matters I was targeting random on my end.
While I am not great or a competitive player, I am no slouch either. When younger I could easily win a tournament amongst friends on NES an later on best any classmate challenger on the TI85 (aging myself).
Are people really this fast now, or was it more likely AI running on a hacked console?

2023.05.31 18:05 RoughRidersRecruiter [A3][NA/AU][Recruiting] Rough Riders: Accessible Milsim Dedicated to Storytelling
Before you read any further, check out our Unit Culture Primer to see what we’re all about. NATO JOINT SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND US CENTCOM OPERATION MYRMIDON 3D COMBINED JOINT TASK FORCE “ROUGH RIDERS” The 3rd Combined Joint Task Force, colloquially known as the Rough Riders, is a special purpose task force created by NATO JSOC with the intent of deterring CSAT influence in the Mediterranean and abroad. Falling under US Central Command, the Rough Riders are a unit hand picked from volunteers across all NATO/ANZUS operating forces. Typically, the Rough Riders are attached to conventional NATO forces to serve as force multipliers. They specialize in Direct Action, Counter-Insurgency, Special Reconnaissance, and forward observation for NATO fire support assets. What we do: The year is 2026, and the world stands poised for great change. With rising tensions in the Middle East and the Pacific, a new world power has emerged: the Canton protocol Strategic Alliance (CSAT). Premiered by China and Iran, this new treaty organization stands poised to threaten NATO's long-reigning global military hegemony. A new Cold War has begun. In the face of this new threat, NATO Joint Special Operations Command has authorized the formation of a special purpose unit to directly intervene against CSAT’s growing sphere of influence. As a member of the Rough Riders, you will witness firsthand the years leading up to ArmA 3’s “The East Wind” campaign and the vibrant political climate of 2035. Your actions and the actions of your brothers in arms will tell the story of NATO defiance in the face of CSATs rise to power. You’ll have epic tales to tell, comrades to mourn, and more than enough action. In the Rough Riders, we put storytelling and fun at the forefront. With a wonderful team of Game Masters and Writers, we aim to give you those “movie moments” and incredible stories of heroism, intense combat, and even hilarity when ArmA decides to ArmA somebody (or all of us). What can I expect from the Rough Riders? - A welcoming, friendly environment.
- Training without the boredom! If this is your first time ever playing ArmA that’s perfectly fine!
- Work Hard, Play Harder Mentality.
- Leadership and promotion opportunities.
- Your feedback to be valued, regardless of how new you are.
- The freedom to switch between roles without a stuffy MOS system.
- Roleplay.
What do the Rough Riders expect from me? - Willingness to learn, follow orders, and contribute to the success of the team.
- To respect your fellow Rough Riders.
- A working microphone.
- A sense of humor.
What does “Accessible Milsim” mean? In the Rough Riders, we've built our community around making the junior enlisted experience as drama-free as possible. We believe that solid milsim operations can still work without suffocating our enlisted with constricting MOS systems and countless hours of basic training. The idea is that new members can join the unit, download the mods and jump right into the action. This is made possible by increasingly serious levels of milsim orientation the further up the chain of command you go. Your average player can jump right into fun and challenging operations if their Fireteam and Squad Leaders have the adequate training and mentality. By volunteering to try for a leadership position, you increase your commitment and seriousness level. Accessible milsim means that you choose the level of dedication and milsim seriousness that you want. From casually showing up to be boots on the ground blowing stuff up, to managing training and combat leadership, all the way to the paperwork simulator that comes with an officer commission. You get out what you put in. Training: You don't need to be a grizzled ArmA veteran to join the Rough Riders. Our simple training program is intended to bring even brand new players up to speed without killing them with boredom. You can expect to learn the following: - TFAR Setup - Rough Riders Intro (who we are, what we do, expectations-both ways) - Intro to Unit Life (who you are, what you'll be doing as a new member, chain of command) - Role Interest Declaration (helps us shape and personalize your training) - ArmA Basics - ACE Basics - TFAR Basic Training - Common Sense Combat/Fireteam Training - CQB Basic Training Between deployments, we do a garrison rotation that is focused on catching any new members up to speed and helping veteran members and NCOs grow and improve. The Hebontes schedule is a several week process. This allows for the writing/zeusing team to have time to create a quality deployment with all the necessary lore bits and planning considerations, while giving the unit time to relax and make mistakes in a controlled and learning-focused environment. Opportunities: Rough Riders members fill a multitude of roles, and are allowed to switch between them for different missions so long as they have passed the appropriate training. Roles available to Rough Riders are: -Zeus -**Rifleman/Designated Marksman -AT/AA Specialist - Automatic Rifleman -Grenadier -Radio Operator -Combat Medic/ MEDEVAC Medic -Combat Engineer -Artilleryman/Fire Direction Officer -Rotary-wing Aircraft Crew/Pilot -Fixed-wing Aircraft Pilot -IFV/APC Crew/Commander -Media ReporteJournalist Leadership opportunities are made available to interested members who are noted to possess technical competency and the ability to communicate effectively. Through a program we call the Warrior Leaders Course, NCO candidates are put to the test via a series of written and field exams. We have systems in place for leadership development too- so if you’re not ready to lead now (but want to), we can teach you how to be a leader. Community members may join our writing/zeusing team and contribute to the development of our world in-game. It is expected that these individuals be team players overall, and be able to understand and support the bigger picture as determined by the administration team. At the end of the day it's about making sure the players had fun, and telling a memorable story/giving them opportunities to have stories about the operation- not about how cool you are as a Zeus. **Designated Marksman/Sniper School is open to Rough Riders with a score of 38+ (Expert) on their Rifle Qual, who have achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. Members are eligible for promotion to Lance Corporal after one (1) full deployment with the unit. Operations: We operate Monday/Friday/Saturday starting at ~7pm-~8pm EST. Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday are off days and Squad Leaders may run trainings if requested or if they see fit. Members typically play other games in the discord together on these off days as well. There is no mandatory attendance expectation- we want to see you around, but everyone understands that real life comes first. We operate on a deployment system, meaning that we spend prolonged periods of time in various regions of the world participating in roughly 1-2 month long persistent environments. Between these deployments we dedicate a few weeks to retraining the unit, catching new players up on anything they haven't already figured out during their deployment, and testing NCO candidates while our Zeus/Writer team works on the next deployment. Information: Founded September 2018, Rough Riders is actively seeking new members to help increase our core of dedicated players. We operate with a reinforced platoon (~40ish) that includes infantry and a myriad of support elements also manned by our members. The Rough Riders consists of primarily North American (NA) members, and so most things are scheduled with that in mind. We do however have an international community with wonderful members from places like Australia, Laos, Russia, and elsewhere. Anybody and everybody is welcome in the Rough Riders- we just ask that you are able to speak, read, and understand English. To join, simply join our discord and introduce yourself! No application necessary, and no sitting through hours of tedious basic training just to blow things up. Now , this is just some massive weird coincidence , that I've collected the pieces of and put them all together in one post , and just give myself something to think about .
Let's go back to MCC 4 , where it all began ...
a massive step back in time and we are , in MCC 4 , the first time they were brought together , little did they know , it was only the beginning . It was early Season 1 , balancing wasn't an issue , so it was pretty unfair , and some players were less competent than others , but that doesn't matter . The Ks were in it to win it but , they fought and got 3rd , came back next event , fought and got 4th (let's say ~3rd) , took a break and came back for the Third time in the 7th event , fought and got 3rd .
3rd , ~3rd , 3rd , you all know it , the captain's curse . MCC 7 , was the last time they teamed , or so they thought . 3 times this many events later , 7 * 3 = 21 , they were finally back , and ready , as they battled through MCC 21 , luck wasn't on their side , but they still got what they were destined to get since they teamed Three times beforehand , 3 * 3rd = 9th .
What a coincidence , Oh my God... NO , well maybe , but riddle me this :
All these events 1-21 , the Captain was along side a Kraken , maybe not on the same team , but in the same event , and had never won just got 3rd most of the time and it was getting annoying , the no-dodgebolt curse was broken once in MCC 15 but they got swept , losing all 3 rounds , until , the 22nd . 22 , the number not related to three , but between two that are .
A team , the Pink Parrots , keep that in mind , came first and banished a blessing to break a curse , the Captain had won . On the third event , of the third year of MCC , the 3rd place curse was broken and the Captain won , but at what cost ?
In the three events that followed , 23 , 24 and 25 , the Pink team got last , 10th place , but on the fourth event , MCC 26 , when three of the Krakens were reunited , Kara Krinios & Krtzyy on the Cyan Centipedes , the pink team got 4th . But why does it matter , they didn't get 3rd , you may ask , and no the pink team didn't get 3rd , because Cyan did , it seemed that the Captain got rid of his curse , but it passed on to the Krakens . Yet somehow it doesn't end here ,
If we take the last two times the Ks teamed and add them up , 7 + 21 = 28 . We got 28 , what happened in 28 ? , the Captain won again , without the Krakens , once more ....
So is it , the Captain's Curse or is it The Kraken's Kurse , I don't know , something that started in early Season 1 and ended at the finish line of Season 2 , hopefully ...
Yeah so basically , just wanted to put it out there in a cool way , and here you go , The Captain's Curse , condensed .

2023.05.31 17:53 Successful-Two-6249 Building a PC for gaming, coding, YouTube
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
Gaming (football manager 23 with as many leagues and players loaded as possible, Fortnite, etc), coding, and making YouTube videos.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
Anywhere from 1200-1500.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
I plan to order the pc within the next week
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Everything except keyboard, mouse, and monitor
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Pennsylvania and No
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Not reusing any parts besides keyboard and mouse. Both are Logitech
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
I’m not sure, should I? Hahaha
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
My friend was telling me I should get an SSD and HDD and only put my OS on the SSD so my pc boots up super fast and the HDD can store everything else. Is that a good idea?
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Don’t really care about specific colors as long as it doesn’t look goofy
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Nope
Extra info or particulars:
Nope

2023.05.31 17:26 norrisrw Cal Ripken, Jr acknowledges the crowd during the celebration of his breaking Lou Gehrig's consecutive games streak, Oriole Ballpark at Camden Yards, Baltimore, September 6, 1995.
| The streak began on May 30, 1982. Ripken spent his entire career in Baltimore; his father, who was once a player and coach, was his manager at one point. Speculation of Ripken breaking Gehrig's streak of 2,130 consecutive games began circulating around 1992, when his streak was around 1,500 or so games. He claimed the pressure to continue toward that goal never got to him. He would go out there, day in and day out, and take his position at Shortstop or (in later years) 3rd Base. The 1995 MLB Season was soured by the fallout of the players' strike which had begun in August 1994. As a result of the strike, there was no postseason that year, and the '95 season kicked off on April 25, nearly a month later than usual. Fan reaction was understandably negative, and attendance was sharply down throughout the league. In Baltimore, however, there was a glimpse of what was good about baseball: Cal Ripken's streak. Banners were set up below windows of a building on Eutaw Street, just beyond the right field fence of Camden Yards, noting where the streak stood. As each game became official (during or after the 5th Inning, depending on who was in the lead), that number would increase by one. On September 6, 1995, the Orioles hosted the California Angels. To no one's surprise, it was a standing-room only sellout. ESPN broadcast the game. Cal Ripken, Jr took to the field. The banners on Eutaw Street read "2-1-3-0", signifying that Ripken had matched Lou Gehrig. History was going to made this night. With each out, the anticipation grew higher. As the game entered the 5th Inning, Baltimore had a 3-1 lead. Pitcher Jim Mussina gave up two walks, but the Angels failed to score. At that moment, the game became official. 2-1-3-1. The celebration lasted about 45 minutes. It included a victory lap around the stadium's warning track by Cal Ripken during the longest standing ovation I had ever witnessed. Fireworks fired off, music blared from the PA system, and for a moment, the strike was little more than a memory. Ripken addressed the crowd. He said, in part, “Tonight I stand here, overwhelmed, as my name is linked with the great and courageous Lou Gehrig.” The Orioles would go on to defeat the Angels, 4-2. Ripken continued to take the field, day in and day out. On September 20, 1998, Cal Ripken, Jr sat out for the first time in over 15 years, ending his consecutive games streak at 2,632 games. He retired as a player after the 2001 season, and was selected for the Hall of Fame on his first year of eligibility, in 2007. submitted by norrisrw to OldSchoolCool [link] [comments] |
2023.05.31 16:54 ighost03 New player vent
Hello everyone, this is just a random vent of a new player. I am positive the entire community is not like the players I have experienced. I’m just learning the game and would love to see it grow in my area, the models and lore are so fun and cool. But the players i meet in my area don’t exactly encourage a growing community in their play style. I have done three games they have like this…
Game one - couldn’t tell you who I played, opponent played Titania
This guy mentioned he used to be a press ganger and would play this faction/list in tournaments and won. Thought it was gonna be a great learning game as my first. He totally tabled me and didn’t really offer any advice on how to play the list he let me use. Most of my units were dead by turn 3. With my final unit facing down his entire force he finally gave me advice on the rules. I scored 1 point to his 1000.
Left this match feeling super defeated but wanted to play more. I looked up the rules on my own and searched for ‘best starting boxes’ ended with sonnia crid and looked for another match
Match 2 - me with sonnia vs Colette
Before this match I mention this is my second match and my first one was kind of not fun at all. This guy was a lot better, he also tabled me by turn 3, with the exception of sonnia, he kept removing her from the board so we just ended it lol. My turn consisted of me retuning sonnia to the board, walking to try and do something. He would the. Teleport Colette, remove me from board and teleport away.
Not a horrible game and I did learn a lot, like not keeping my witchlings near eachother. Left this game feeling better but still not great
Game three - sonnia vs goblins
Abysmal, that’s all I can say. Think this guy setup terrain specifically to block me from his goblin snipers. He quickly and easily blazed my units away. I have never felt so useless in a match than this. I did finally manage to make a witchling to his sniper ontop of a building. I asked is there anyway my unit can get in melee with his sniper, his answer ‘no’. So great guess i will just be shot all game by units I can’t even hit….
Want to end this by saying I know not all players are like my first and 3rd matches but dang it’s rough to find the interest to keep playing. Maybe I just have the short end of the stick and need to suck it up before I can squeeze out something better than total domination. Haha working on scoring more than 1 point in a match is my first goal
The second guy I played was pretty cool, he mentioned that the game has some balancing issues where some leaders are direct counters to others, and to not be discouraged when it’s a total blow out. I kind of liked that guy, but maybe pull some punches when the new guy is getting wrecked lol. I understand losing is part of the game, I’m just saying don’t make the new player feel like they wasted their time

2023.05.31 16:53 CokeZ3ro Highlighting Random Falcons until the Season Starts: Cliff Benson
Clifford Anthony Benson was born on August 28th, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois. He played for Alan B. Shepard High School in Palos Heights, Illinois; and is the only player from that high school to ever play in the NFL.
Benson joined Purdue as a tight end in 1981. His freshman year resulted in a stat line of 33 receptions, 458 yds, and a single TD. He improved his sophomore year, reaching 50 receptions (3rd in Big 10), 762 yards (5th in Big 10) and 5 TDs (3rd Big 10). His Junior year was less productive, falling to 34 receptions, 326 yards, and 5 TDs.
Benson entered the 1984 NFL draft, and was selected in the 5th Round by the Falcons. (Note: I could not find a single picture of this dude. So I had to take a guess at which guy he was in this
1984 roster picture ). Despite starting all 16 games in 1984, Benson only put up pedestrian numbers; 26 receptions, 244 yards, and zero touchdowns. He would see less playing time, and worse production the following season: 10 receptions, 37 yards, and zero touchdowns. He was released from the Falcons.
Benson played 3 more seasons in the NFL, going from the Saints to Washington and back to the Saints. He would only start 3 games and have 3 receptions for 16 yards during that time.

2023.05.31 16:33 banana_peel2 Orb of Conflict seems to be 50/50 regardless of implicit tiers, as opposed to the description
New(-ish) player here. Reached endgame and started minmaxing eldritch implicits when I noticed Orb of Conflict upgrades much higher tiers more often than you'd expect.
Went to Craft of Exile to test it and ran emulator to see the chance of: 1. Upgrading 3rd tier into 2nd with opposing implicit at tier 4 2. Upgrading 2nd tier into 1st with opposing implicit at tier 6
In both cases it's exactly 50/50 after 20.000 iterations. Double checked it manually with simulator, it was also 50/50. This contradicts the item description.
Tested a theory that "relative strength" in the description rather refers to the weight of the implicit within its influence (like max all res has 400 weight while some other rolls have 1000). But it was also 50/50.
Has anyone ever done a comprehensive data for this item in game? The premise of Orb of Conflict having much higher chance to upgrade a lower tier implicit is widely spread on reddit and youtube but a brief search haven't found any big sample testing it's based upon.
Idk how Craft of Exile is made, manually or with datamined mechanics. Maybe it doesnt have correct implementation for this item? But if you assume even the mild inclination of 40/60 chance for 4/3 tiers, 30/70 for 5/2 tiers and 20/80 for 5/1 tiers - in that case my own small data of like 50 uses of the item in game brings me into lower than 0.01% unlucky chance. While if you assume 50/50 for each step the data makes sense.

2023.05.31 16:11 albert_gassull My life is falling apart
I'm a medicine student. For all my life I was the smartest kid in the class. When I graduated highschool i had the best average score out of the 100 kids in school.
I also did it with minimal effort, maybe 2 hours of studying the day before exams.
Then I got into med school, the first two years I had great marks, but then 3rd year and 4th have been a disaster. Right now I'm in exams and the pressure has crushed me. Out of 7 exams I failed 4.
I have one more year of exams to end and another extra year of just practicing, and then another extra year of national exam. So by default I have 3 years more until I become a doctor.
But I feel like I really can't do this anymore. But if I stop studying I will be nothing in life because this is what I chose.
My options are, changing to another career (it would require losing several years), continuing just like now and failing exams, doing an extra year (so 4 years till I become a doctor), or stoping a year for leasure and then coming back again to study.
I also feel like all the options are an embarrassment for me because I feel like I am no longer the smartest kid in the class.
My problem is that I'm totally incapable of studying more than 3h/day even if I try. I'm extremely lazy and I just got into med school out of pure intelligence.
What do you think I should do? This is vital for me

2023.05.31 16:00 MERTENS_GOAT [OC] Did rich teams benefit from the expansion from 3 to 5 substitutions? A look at the bygone Premier League season 2022/23
When the rule with more substitutions was brought in many (like Chris Wilder) feared that this would in particular benefit the rich teams even more. My idea was to count goals by players who were subbed on. The teams are sorted by overall market value of the squad per transfermarkt.de.
Goals by subs:
Man City IIIII I 6
Chelsea IIIII I 6
Arsenal IIIII I 6
Liverpool IIIII IIIII I 11
Man United IIIII IIIII II 12
Tottenham IIIII IIII 9
Newcastle IIIII IIII 9
Aston Villa IIIII I 6
West Ham IIII 4
Leicester City IIIII II 7
Southampton IIIII II 7
Wolves IIIII II 7
Leeds IIIII I 6
Everton II 2
Brighton IIIII II 7
Brentford IIIII III 8
N Forest III 3
Crystal Palace IIIII 5
Fulham IIIII I 6
Bournemouth IIIII 5
source Manchester City, Everton and Nottingham Forest are the only 3 teams who did not have at least one player who scored 2+ goals a super sub for them.
However, these numbers aren't too much of a revelation cause they don't factor in the amount of goals scored by a team overall.
Normalized by goals scored of the team overall in the league season:
Man City 94/6 - 15.7 2nd lowest percentage of goals scored by subs
Chelsea 38/6 - 6.3
Arsenal 88/6 - 14.7 3rd lowest percentage of goals scored by subs
Liverpool 75/11 - 6.8
Man United 58/12 - 4.8 2nd highest percentage of goals scored by subs
Tottenham 70/9 - 7.8
Newcastle 68/9 - 7.6
Aston Villa 51/6 - 8.5
West Ham 42/4 - 10.5
Leicester City 51/7 - 7.3
Southampton 36/7 - 5.1 3rd highest percentage of goals scored by subs
Wolves 31/7 - 4.4 highest percentage of goals scored by subs
Leeds 48/6 - 8.0
Everton 34/2 - 17.0 lowest percentage of goals scored by subs
Brighton 72/7 - 10.3
Brentford 58/8 - 7.3
N Forest 38/3 - 12.7
Crystal Palace 40/5 - 8.0
Fulham 55/6 - 9.2
Bournemouth 37/5 - 7.4
This for now, doesn't really support the thesis that rich teams profit more with Manchester City and Arsenal being among the Top-3 teams with the lowest percentage of their league goals coming from players who were subbed on.
But I think there's still a way to make the number more accurate, covering for the amount of subs made by a team or even better the amount of minutes the subs played. Thanks to
fbref that's possible.
However, if you would want to argue that how many minutes a coach gives to his bench players depends on the quality of the bench players, you could skip this step, because otherwise we would normalize an information that actually is caused by what we want to show (not sure if this was understandable). But I don't think that's the case anyway, it simply depends on the manager. Does Pep Guardiola have a low quality bench or is it just not his style of coaching to make many and early subs? I think it's the latter.
How much did the sub make out of the minutes given to them also in relation to the amount of goals scored by a team overall throughout the season?
Formula: super sub goals / all league goals / overall amount of subs / average game time of a sub in minutes * 10 000 000
Man City 6/94/123/19 - 273 18th
Chelsea 6/38/173/22 - 415
Arsenal 6/88/150/15 - 303 17th
Liverpool 11/75/164/20 - 447
Man United 12/58/149/19 - 731 1st
Tottenham 9/70/140/15 - 612 2nd
Newcastle 9/68/155/16 - 534 4th
Aston Villa 6/51/144/20 - 408
West Ham 4/42/132/20 - 361
Leicester City 7/51/138/23 - 432
Southampton 7/36/175/22 - 505
Wolves 7/31/165/24 - 570 3rd
Leeds 6/48/157/21 - 379
Everton 2/34/116/20 - 254 19th
Brighton 7/72/143/19 - 358 16th
Brentford 8/58/171/19 - 425
N Forest 3/38/159/21 - 236 20th
Crystal Palace 5/40/138/17 - 533 5th
Fulham 6/55/152/15 - 478
Bournemouth 5/37/141/19 - 504
Erik Ten Hag's subs made the most out of the minutes they got in terms of goals. Steve Cooper's and Everton's the fewest followed by the 2 teams who topped the PL table: Manchester City and Arsenal which is again not really confirmation to the idea that these teams benefit the most from the additional subs although Man United, Tottenham and Newcastle did indeed well benefit from their subs in the 22/23 season.
The same analysis for the german Bundesliga
https://www.reddit.com/soccecomments/13wld6x/oc_did_rich_teams_benefit_from_the_expansion_from/ showed that BVB and Bayern were about as low as Arsenal and Manchester City in the "super-sub-table" for 22/23.

2023.05.31 15:56 Ramblinwreck93 Bojan Bogdanovic Trade Construction and Analysis
We’re all thinking about players the C’s could acquire to take us over the hump next season, so I’ll throw my guy into the ring: Bojan Bogdanovic. He’s a smart, skilled vet who can create his own shot and make it much easier to stagger the Jays.
Here’s the trade Celtics receive: * Bojan Bogdanovic
Spurs receive: * Malcolm Brogdon
Pistons receive: * Doug McDermott * POR 2023 2nd round pick (via BOS, 35th overall) * CHI or NO 2024 2nd round pick (via SAS; more favorable of the 2) * TOR 2025 2nd round pick (via SAS)
Why the Celtics do it: Derrick White turned the corner this year as the Celtics’ 2nd guard. Also, given the cap constraints of the new CBA, it now makes more sense to keep Pritchard than it did a couple of months ago. Bogdanovic can be the C’s super-6th man who can create his own shot, allowing Boston to stagger Tatum and Brown more effectively.
Why the Spurs do it: Wemby is coming to town, and he’s bringing expectations with him. Bringing in Brogdon as a veteran lead guard to steer the ship makes sense, especially if it only costs McDermott and two 2nd rounders.
Why the Pistons do it: The Pistons’ (they hope) ascending young core will need the ball in their hands more and more. They acquire more of an off-ball vet in McDermott, plus a solid haul of draft capital.
The Biggest Hang Up: 3-team trades are hard to pull off. Throughout this exercise, it was hard to find a team who would want Brogdon and has a veteran bucket-getter who they’d be willing to move, so a 3rd team was necessary, but I acknowledge the difficulty in pulling off a 3-team trade, especially before the draft, which is important since we’d be shipping out the 35th pick in this deal.
What do you think of trading for a guy like Bojan?
