Introduction
As a big guy myself, standing at 6’4” with a size 13 shoe, I often wonder about what it would actually take for someone like me to disappear. I’m the type or person who friends use as a marker to find their way through a crowd, and I’m almost instantly recognizable walking down the street.
That being said, there is one place where I could almost certainly disappear without a trace: the wilderness. I think many underestimate just how easy it is to go missing in the wilderness, even a rather small wilderness. A single wrong turn or a mistaken landmark can spell doom for even seasoned woodland travelers.
Honestly, I attribute this underestimation to the popularity of “Missing 411” cases. Many assume that those who went missing in heavily wooded areas or national parks must have disappeared as a result of something supernatural or conspiratorial, simply because they can’t accept just how easily and remorselessly nature can gobble us up.
If I suddenly decided to go missing within society, I think I’d be found in no time. But if I went missing in the wilderness, it’s always possible that I would never be found, even if my body came to rest nearby well-traveled thoroughfares.
I bring all this up because I think much the same for former American professional basketball player Rico Harris, who is even more recognizable than myself. Harris is a Black male, who stands at 6’9” tall, weighs 300 lbs., and has distinctive tattoos, such as one that reads “BALLIN IV LIFE” across his left forearm. If he’s alive, he’s almost certainly worked very hard to keep his presence secret, both from his family and from law enforcement.
Police investigators have suggested that Harris simply walked away from the scene of his disappearance, got in a car, and headed somewhere to start a new life. While there are certainly factors that point to this being a logical possibility, at least in terms of where Harris was in his life mentally and emotionally, I think that the lack of sightings of an individual that matches his description in the almost nine years since he went missing makes it far more likely that Rico Harris’ body is lying somewhere in the wilderness near where he vanished and that it simply hasn’t been located by anyone.
I feel that police assertions that Harris may have simply left the scene to start a new life are wishful thinking, designed to provide the family with false hope and perhaps prevent law enforcement from having to conduct further searches to recover Harris’ remains. Regardless of your opinion on the case, let’s review what we do know so that we can make an educated guess on what we don’t.
Rico Harris’ Life and Struggles
Rico Harris’ life followed a tragic path tread by far too many young, talented athletes. He had the physical talent to play in the NBA but none of the mental or emotional intelligence and maturity to deal with such instant stardom.
Harris seemed to maintain a sort of love/hate relationship with the game of basketball and had actually taken a break from it before returning for his final two years at Temple City High School, where he quickly became a local star, with scouts comparing his play style to that of NBA player Lamar Odom.
Harris was soon recognized as one of the nation’s top 100 prospects and received scholarship offers from such blue-blood basketball programs as Connecticut, Kentucky, and UCLA. Ultimately, however, Harris would commit to Arizona State. He would never play a game there.
He wasn’t eligible to play during his freshman year but stayed on campus, away from family and other positive role models in his life. He struggled academically and socially before being accused of unlawful imprisonment and sexual assault by two young women on campus.
These women stated that Harris and two of his other teammates had prevented them from leaving and forced them to perform sex acts on them. However, after further investigation, police dismissed the charges against Harris and his teammates after noting discrepancies in the girls’ stories. Nonetheless, the Arizona State basketball team had seen and heard enough to sit Harris for his upcoming sophomore season.
Deciding that he needed to pursue his basketball career elsewhere, Harris transferred to Los Angeles Community College where, surrounded by inferior talent, he began to shine once again and again became a star, attracting NBA scouts to games who still saw potential in the young phenom.
After the season, Harris planned to transfer to Rhode Island. However, a failed class prevented his transfer from going through, and he chose to return to LACC for a second season. An offer from Rhode Island remained on the table next year, but Harris shocked everyone by instead transferring to Cal State Northridge, stating to one confidante that he believed that the LACC coach was merely trying to use him to help out his friend, who was the Rhode Island head coach.
Instead, he wanted to remain closer to home and work with a coach he trusted. Harris sadly had a long history of rejecting and mistrusting men who tried to play a fatherly role in his life, likely an issue stemming from his own broken relationship with his father, who could quickly turn from friendly to violent and who his mother eventually moved away from with the children to escape.
Eventually, Harris would also be suspended by Northridge as well, which officially brought about an end to his collegiate career. Harris spoke out about feeling pressured by everyone around him; this pressure led him to increasingly turn to drugs and alcohol, which likely further hampered his performance on the court.
In the 1999 NBA Draft, no team decided to take a risk on Harris, leaving him to go to the now defunct International Basketball League. In 2000, Harris joined the Harlem Globetrotters, and it felt like his big break. Their fun-loving antics seemed like a great fit for his skills and talents.
Unfortunately, only about a month after joining the Globetrotters, Harris was driving with his girlfriend in South Los Angeles, when he got into a dispute with several individuals. He got out of the car to confront them when someone cracked him in the back of the head with a baseball bat.
Though Harris recovered from the wound, his balance never fully returned, and he continued to suffer from frequent intense headaches. Harris’ basketball career was, sadly, over.
Harris Spirals, Then Seemingly Recovers
Harris felt completely rudderless. He did not know what to do with his life now that his basketball career was over. His alcohol addiction worsened, and he began to develop dependencies on heroin, methamphetamine, and crack.
Harris was arrested over one hundred times, most often for public intoxication, and he was clearly struggling. His lowest moment came in 2007, when he overdosed on prescription medication and nearly died.
After a lengthy rehabilitation period with the Salvation Army in downtown Los Angeles. Afterwards, he began working in security, a role that he seemed ideally suited for and seemed to enjoy well enough.
In 2012, he began dating Jennifer Song, an insurance broker from Seattle that he met while working a security detail. In September 2014, Harris abandoned his apartment in Los Angeles, intending to move in with Song full-time up in Seattle.
Though Song reported that they had a good relationship, many of Harris’ friends and relatives saw quite a bit of tension in their relationship leading up to Harris’ disappearance. Based on Harris’ history, it seems likely that some of this tension was connected to his living away from home, which had always caused problems in the past.
But despite this perceived tension, Harris seemed to have truly turned his life around, with his addictions in the rearview mirror, when he suddenly went missing on October 10, 2014.
Rico Harris Vanishes
On October 9, 2014, Harris visited his family home with the goal of completing his move in with Song. His visit was brief. He apparently purchased a new phone for his younger brother, which shows that his financial struggles likely were not at the forefront of his mind.
He also spoke with his mother. Song told police that she thought Harris was seeking closure related to some difficult childhood events. His mother later stated that she did not feel that he got what he was looking for.
Harris’ close friend David Lara had spoken to Harris on his trip down to Southern California and reported that Harris seemed optimistic and was looking forward to marrying and starting a family with Song. Little is known, however, about Harris’ mood after visiting with his family.
Harris began his drive back up to Seattle, heading north on Interstate 5, stopping for gas in Lodi before continuing up north of Sacramento. There, about 10:45 am on the morning of October 10, Harris decided to get some rest, convinced by Song’s urging since had now been awake for 36 straight hours. He left Song a voice message, telling her that he was going “up into the mountains to rest.”
I’ve always found this phrasing particularly odd. I’ve heard people say they’re figuratively going “into the mountains” to find a place to pull over or find a motel, but the full “up into the mountains” has always struck me as being very literal, and perhaps a sign that Harris was already suffering through a bit of a mental breakdown before officially stopping for the day.
Regardless of intention, at 11:15 am, Harris turned off his phone. He has not been officially seen, heard from, or positively identified since.
The Search for Rico Harris
Friends and family initially assumed that Harris would just turn up. It wasn’t unusual for him to disappear for a couple days at a time. However, by October 14th, after missing an interview he had been excited for in Seattle, Harris was finally reported missing.
Later that day, Yolo County police located Harris’ vehicle, seemingly abandoned in a county park parking lot near Cache Creek. The inside of the car was a mess. It was also out of fuel and had a dead battery.
A mile south of Harris’ car they found his backpack. Inside was his cell phone, which was dead but otherwise seemed fine.
There were also two plastic bottles, one filled with a solution that seemed to be hard liquor mixed with an energy drink. The other was empty but smelled strongly of liquor. Sources seem to disagree on whether the bottles were found in his car or his backpack. Regardless of where they were found, it is clear that Harris had either relapsed or had been successfully hiding his addiction as of late.
Police combed Cache Creek Canyon without success. They used infrared imaging from planes, perused the area on foot and on ATVs, and brought out tracking and cadaver dogs. There was no sign of Harris, and nobody could imagine how such a large man had simply vanished.
Several sightings were reported of a man who matched Harris’ description, and to be quite frank, I can’t imagine there were that many men who could be mistaken for Harris in the area at that time. He was spotted walking along the side of the road and sitting on a guardrail, looking at the creek. These sightings took place on October 10 and 11, shortly after Harris’ last known contact with family and friends.
Police found selfies on Harris’ phone showing him posing joyfully beside a sign welcoming him to Yolo County; perhaps he was amused by the name, with YOLO being common parlance (particularly at the time he went missing) for “You only live once.”
There was also an apparently accidental video that showed Harris rifling through his glove box, singing along to his music and seemingly in good spirits despite his somewhat erratic behavior.
Had Harris’ story ended here, it would have still been compelling, but it went further. On October 18, a truck driver reported seeing a man who matched Harris’ description walking near the parking lot where his Nissan had been left.
Imprints were later found in the parking lot that were not defined enough to have a cast made. However, they were apparently not consistent with animal prints and were large enough that they could very well have come from a size 18 shoe. As someone who wears a size 13, I can tell you that that’s a huge footprint and not something that could be left by just anyone. The shoeprints were allegedly leading away from the parking lot.
No legitimate sightings of Harris have been reported since.
Analysis of Harris’ Disappearance
Let’s begin by looking at the official police narrative of Rico Harris’ disappearance. Law enforcement has asserted that there is no evidence of foul play in Harris’ disappearance. I tend to agree with this assessment. By all accounts, Harris came to Yolo County alone, and there were no signs of a struggle surrounding his disappearance.
Furthermore, if you find the eyewitness testimony of those who allegedly saw him reliable, as I do given his unique stature, he was never spotted with anyone else.
Where I differ from law enforcement is in my belief about what happened to Rico Harris and his intent throughout the whole process. Police believe that Harris only arrived in Yolo County by accident, that he took a wrong turn and ended up out there.
I’m not sure he did. He told Song that he planned to go “up into the mountains.” Perhaps this is what he meant; perhaps something within him led him to stray from his established path, perhaps because he was having a mental breakdown or for spiritual reasons or simply because he felt like he needed a place off the beaten path to rest.
I think it’s possible that he took a wrong turn and got lost, but neither his selfies nor his communications with Song (where he mentioned nothing about being lost) nor his actions thereafter really suggest this.
Next up, police don’t seem to have any kind of theory, at least publicly, as to what happened in the days between Harris’ initial disappearance and his return to the parking lot on October 18th. I doubt he was in town anywhere nearby, since local law enforcement was actively working to ensure that locals knew they were looking for Harris. Despite this, there are no reports of him in town, despite his size which would have immediately set him apart.
I theorize that Harris was likely out in the woods during this time. If he had relapsed on alcohol, it is not beyond reason that he may have had access to other drugs as well. Perhaps Harris turned this incident into an unexpected retreat. Detectives say that Harris looked like “a free man” in the videos found of him. Perhaps this inspired him to go into nature, even with or without the influence of drugs and alcohol.
So why did Harris not return for eight full days? Maybe this is when he ran out of drugs. Maybe he had become lost and only found his way back by that point. Perhaps he had finally had a reality check and decided that it was time to return to his life.
Regardless, I do believe that Harris returned to the parking lot. The shoeprints along with the sighting are enough to make me feel that this was legitimate. After this, police suggest that Harris either went into the woods or into town. One detective goes so far as to suggest that, “We have no sightings, so he probably got a ride.”
This is where I strongly disagree with law enforcement. I don’t think that Rico Harris left to start another life. He seemed to struggle mightily with being far from home and family, and I can’t imagine he would run away, then spend almost nine years without so much as briefly contacting a family member or friend.
And to return to the subject at the beginning of this piece, I don’t mean to suggest that it would be completely impossible for Harris to vanish into a new life, but his physical circumstances would make that especially difficult. I think that it would take a whole lot of work for Harris to disappear into another life fully, and I just don’t think the evidence points to him either being at that point or being willing to commit himself to so difficult a project.
Personally, I find it far more likely that Harris wandered back into the woods, dejected to find his car missing, and either committed suicide or accidentally died, having seen his missing vehicle as the final proof that he wasn’t meant to return to ordinary life.
Looking at photographs of Cache Creek Canyon, I’m honestly surprised this is not brought up more often. Police often speak as if Harris went missing in a small city park and that they’d certainly find him if he was there.
I’m just not so sure. Cache Creek Canyon looks like it contains plenty of dense foliage. I feel like a body, even one the size of Rico Harris’s, could easily evade detection, particularly if located far from the main trails.
Conclusion
Unlike many cases I cover on here, where the victim has been missing for far too long to realistically still be alive, Rico Harris has been missing for less than a decade. If he did indeed run away, as the police seem ready to accept, he could very well be alive.
If you know a 6’9”, 300 lbs. Black man with a “BALLIN IV LIFE” tattoo and a mysterious past, please consider contacting Yolo County law enforcement. Heck, if you are Rico, consider contacting them yourself. I don’t know anything about the demons of your past, but I do know that there are people who love you and who deserve to know that you’re okay.
However, I find it far more likely that Rico is still out there somewhere near Cache Creek Canyon, his tale sadly having come to an end in a corner of the park that nobody’s checked yet. Maybe he’ll stay there forever, unfound and unburied.
This is truly a case where I just don’t know what to think. I don’t understand why law enforcement’s active theory, or at least publicly promoted theory, is that he hitched a ride and drove away. It just doesn’t add up to me, and I can’t help but wonder if they have additional reasons for thinking this that they haven’t shared with the public.
Nonetheless, I hope we can find Harris one way or another, so that his family have can closure if nothing else. These days, they sit around wondering what happened to him, and wondering if one word, one phrase, one answer could have changed things entirely.

I've been lonely lately and missed having someone that I can game with and shoot the shit with throughout the night. I love just hanging out on discord and playing or talking about our day. My (F24 at the time) husband (M26 at the time) and I have been together for 6 years (at the time). His mother has not liked me since I told her that my favorite book is Harry Potter. She enjoys talking shit about me behind my back to my husband.
My grandmother died in December 2018 and we went to her house for a visit about two weeks after. I thought I was fine and could handle it for a weekend. We get there late cause my husband had to work and she stayed up to let us in. We all go shopping the next day. After we come home my husband and I go inside and to our rooms to relax (I don’t bother asking if she needs help because she always says no when I ask) I watch a movie and my husband takes a nap. When I’m done with my movie, I go out to her living room and sit on the couch with a book and she comes storming out and says to me “I think you both are so ignorant. I stayed up so late to let you in and drove to the mall and carried everything in by myself. You two didn’t even try to help. I already ate dinner and cleaned everything up”. She storms away. So I put my book down and go back to my room pack our stuff and wake up my husband and tell him what happened and that we are leaving. He gets up and I can hear him talk to her and explain that I’m not emotionally stable (I still had not processed my grandmothers death). He gets everything sorted and we finish our visit.
We got married last May and because of COVID, it was small. We explained to her that we were going to have the small marriage celebration and then a larger wedding in 2021. She straight up told me “that’s dumb” and then when we went to visit her in February of 2021 for her birthday, she didn’t even acknowledge that we were legally married. That was the first time I stood up for myself to her. Then the wedding was in July of 2021 and I bent over backwards to get accommodations for her and her old as shit dog that she treats better than her own son. The week of the wedding, she told my husband that she didn’t want us to come get her like we had planned. She wanted someone to meet her in a town 1.5 hours away from where the wedding was, and lead her to it. There was no way anyone would be able to do that because everyone involved was going to be busy setting up the reception hall and the pavilion for the ceremony. Then she wanted to bring someone (no problem except we didn’t have anywhere for them) two days before the wedding she told us she wasn’t coming. That’s fine her loss.
The last time I saw/spoke to her, was the weekend before Christmas In 2022. We were having a fine time, then on Sunday morning while she was listening to her live stream of her church with a children’s choir singing way off key, I chose to put in an earphone so that I could listen to my own stuff. My husband came out about five mins later, while she was in the kitchen, and he and I start talking about the books we were listening to. She sits down and makes a comment (I don’t remember what) and he and I give out opinions about the comment. Then she just stands up and says “I’m not gonna sit here and be disrespected like this” and walks off. He gets up and they have an argument about me apparently being disrespectful the entire time I’ve been there except that I haven’t. She comes back out and sits in the living room he comes back out and sits in the dining room. I get up to go pack our stuff because we’re gonna be leaving that day after dinner. As I am in the bedroom packing I can hear her going off again to my husband about me and how I put in my head phone instead of being serenaded by a bunch of off key children. At this point I had had enough and just stormed out there and started shouting at her about how that wasn’t why I was putting in my headphone and about how that’s not disrespectful if I wanted to listen to my own stuff then if I would’ve just let it play that would’ve been disrespectful. And she makes a comment about how because I’m young I can’t possibly understand what’s going on. And just as I’m about to respond my husband stands up and shouts at us both to shut up and tells me to go to the car. Now my husband does not shout unless he is wildly overstimulated. I immediately shut up and gather everything except for the Christmas gifts and the bridal shower gift that she had given us. As I’m walking out to the car I can hear him shout “I don’t care if you don’t like her. I like her. I love her. And if you don’t get your shit together you will never see us again and when you die alone it’ll be your fault“ We have not spoken to her since. Now I feel like I have made him choose between me and her. Am I the bad apple?

Hi, I'm new here but need some support and advice. I (36f) had an emotional affair on my husband (40m). We've been married for 11 years and in all that time we've never strayed from each other. I couldn't have imagine ever doing that to him. And yet, here we are. I am just sick to my stomach and feel like the worst person ever. And once you hear this story, you will probably agree.
I recently delivered a stillborn baby - 34 weeks gestation. Birth was 3 weeks ago. It was not our baby, however, since I was acting as gestational carrier for our friends. This is important information because my AP was this baby's dad. All while I was very close friends with the baby's mom. D-Day was 3 days ago. I am such a sh*tty person to be adding to my friend's grief over losing her daughter by now finding out that her husband and I got ourselves into an EA.
Like most people, the affair stemmed from friendship. We didn't go into this planning to become involved, obviously. The first mistake was when I started texting him separately from our group texts to request reimbursement for the IVF med refills and other things related to the surrogacy - though this was infrequent and kept straight to the point. But that opened the door to texting. After the embryo transfer and it was confirmed that I was pregnant, AP would text me a couple of times a week to check in and see how he could help. The texts should have been in our group texts, but everything was kept to just talking about the pregnancy and it didn't seem wrong at all. I was pregnant with his child, after all. I didn't have any feelings for him at this time but I did appreciate the attention and care he gave. As the story goes, our texting slowly evolved from just talking about the pregnancy to talking about other things - mostly how our days were going. We have very similar sense of humor and it was fun making each other laugh. As we continued talking we started to slip into flirting with each other, telling each other they're cute or sweet or sexy etc.
I honestly hadn't realized how many lines we had crossed until we had crossed quite a few. I guess I didn't see it for what it was - an emotional affair - since we never opened up to each other emotionally. Our conversations were mostly just joking around with each other. We also never talked about our spouses (other than like "oh yeah, me and [husband] have been there too etc) and we never talked about our marriages. We also would go weeks at a time without talking at all, so I justified the developing feelings and the flirting, telling myself that it was just friendship and him caring about how I'm doing with the pregnancy.
But, obviously we crossed lines. We kept the extent of our texting a secret from our spouses. I had times where I thought about him more than my BH. And I came to rely on him for the emotional lift he gave me - I would look forward to chatting with him and feel elated to get a text from him.
We did eventually realize what was happening and cut it off. But obviously we were still very entangled because I was still pregnant with his child. So obviously it didn't get completely cut off, but we didn't text each other like before. But then, baby girl passed away and we all endured that trauma together which sparked some strong emotions. And we did start chatting again in the last few weeks.
BH found a message he had sent me 3 days ago and confronted me about it. I broke down and told him everything. He texted AP who then told his wife. So now I've not only hurt my husband, but lost my good friend and tainted her memory of the surrogacy. I don't know if she's told her sisters and mom yet, but I know they will feel hurt and betrayed as well since they were all very invested in the surrogacy. I can't believe I was so stupid and selfish and wasn't thinking about anyone else in this situation. I literally hate myself right now and feel like I've undone any good deed. I'm a terrible awful person.
BH is obviously very hurt but I'm not sure if he's fully internalized what's happened. He wants to fix this, which I'm very grateful for. We have a MC appointment set up for 2 days from now and I have an IC appointment set up for next week. He's being very sweet to me, still telling me that he loves me and that he doesn't want to lose me. I'm worried that this is just the shock phase though and that he's going to go through a lot more in time as this settles. I hate that I've hurt him and betrayed his trust. I'm so mad at myself for what I've done that I've barely slept and barely eaten anything since D-Day. I don't know how to get through this.
Anyway, that is my convoluted tale of selfishly breaking hearts. And I guess I'm mostly posting to hear from WWs who are further along in their reconciliation process - have you been able to forgive yourself? Do you feel like your marriage truly can or has repaired? I really hope to repair my marriage because I do love him so much. We obviously have some pre existing issues that we will need to work on, but he truly is who I want to be with.

I got her when she was about four or five from my cousin. He admitted that he used to beat “the shit” out of her and I was stuck with a traumatized and violent dog.
She's bern biting me since day one and I've never laid a hand on her, never even raised one. My other cousin who did hit her once and I've been trying to keep her away from ever since, oh she just loves him. She'll jump in his lap and lick him all over his face and the man who beat the shit out of her? She does the same to him.
But she takes her aggression out on me, never shows me affection and goes out of her way to agitate me.

I’m 35 yo female 5ft 7 170 lbs , 15 weeks pregnant with my first. I would like to ask for advice about a situation that is bothering me a lot.
I don’t know why, but every time a medical staff take my bp, it’s really high. At my follow up appt this afternoon, it was 155/100. Obviously, every time that happen I freak out, as well as the nurse. If they let me in a place alone with the bp machine, I do some breathing exercice and take my bp myself it go down in the normal range ( when I left the hospital it was 120/77. ). Oh and it’s always
My question is .. could a high spike in bp like that could be dangerous for me or my baby ? Does my dr should put me one some kind of bp medication ?

Do you find yourself with plenty of people to talk to but nobody to really ‘talk’ to? That’s pretty much me, I find that I have nobody to talk to about anything deeper than just general day to day chit chat these days and would love someone to share thoughts and feelings with, and to reciprocate, I’ve been told I’m a good listener!
Having said that, I’m pretty much just a normal guy! I like to spend a lot of time outdoors walking my dog, otherwise I can usually be found gaming, watching movies, planning my next random travel adventure or trying out some new recipe! (I recently got crazy good at making bread and happy to share the recipe!)

This happened almost 2 weeks ago
Some context: we aren’t married. We have been together for 4 years. Baby was planned. We were both excited when we finally got pregnant
I was in labor for the entire evening through the night. It was VERY long that I didn’t even keep track of the exact time. My baby daddy’s phone was ringing a couple times during the labor and he didn’t answer. He was on his phone A LOT. I asked him whose calling and he said it’s just his family and friends asking about me and the baby. So I let it go. But when I finally was about to give birth, his phone was going off and he said he has to take the call and it would be quick. I thought he would just take the call in the labor room. Nope, he left the room. He was talking on the phone probably for a good 20 minutes. He came back and my daughter is already in my hands. You can probably imagine how upset I am
When we got home, I looked through his iPad while he was asleep (if you don’t know already, you can connect your phone to other devices and everything on your phone can be found in other devices like iPad, Apple Watch, computer, etc.) so I found out he has been cheating on me since the 2nd trimester of my pregnancy. For one, I’m glad I checked his devices because I thought something was off when we were in the hospital and he clearly didn’t tell me the truth. Second, now that I know, I’m leaving him. I wish I did this sooner but I didn’t suspect him cheating before until we got to the hospital when I was in labor is when all of these red flags were showing
This other girl is 20 years old. He has been taking her out of dates, giving her gifts, having sex with her, and this girl even met our dog. I am still SO mad. I saw texts from my baby daddy & his brother and my baby daddy sending pictures to his bro of his “new hott gf” and he was saying in those texts how this other girl is VERY attractive and fun. My baby daddy told his brother that I got fat and unattractive (not throwing shots at my stomach since I’m pregnant but referring to my recent weight gain over one and a half years ago). It’s true, I let myself go. I did get comfortable in the relationship and stopped talking care of myself but this doesn’t give him the right to cheat on me. I also got STD checked I’m thankful I didn’t catch anything
My emotions got to me since it’s been the next day I gave birth (at that point) I ended up calling to this girl. This girl knows that he’s taken too and that he was expecting a baby and she didn’t care and claims she’s just having fun and living in the moment. She apologized to me for being selfish but she said I should be confronting my man instead of her. I did also confront my baby daddy. We aren’t together anymore. Unfortunately, we live in a common law state and it’s going to be difficult to get him out of my apartment. I don’t know how to get him go leave, he is refusing to. We are both on the lease and we both pay for it. I can’t afford to move out on my own. The lease ends in December 2023
TLDR: baby daddy cheated on me with a college girl. We have a 2 week old baby. I broke up with him. We still live together until December. I feel broken, lost, betrayed, and alone

I couldn’t help but feel a tingle of relief and excitement when seeing this screen. Clothes, armor, a guide. I wasn’t going to be walking around clueless for long.
I stroked my chin at these selections. While armor looked tempting, I couldn’t afford it. Same with the 24 hour guide. A thorough immersive guide right now would leave me broke and naked.
Well, this choice was already set in stone for me, wasn’t it?
“One temporary guide, please,” I said a bit nervously. Though nothing happened. I pivoted my head to and fro, but nothing. Where the heck was my guide?
“Whoah! Full moon! Hello!” I heard a strong Italian Brooklyn accent over my head, realizing that I wasn’t alone. He was a metal orb with hummingbird wings, covered in etched lines and cybernetic crevices all over his metal plates.
I should have picked the clothes first!
I crouched over to cover my unmentionables and cried, “Simple gear, simple gear!” Immediately, I was given a wardrobe. Even had the entire Sailor Moon glowing light as I was dressed up head to toe: A dark cloak with a hood lined with fur, pants, gauntlets, a padded leather top, high leather boots, and a bag over my belt.
“Heh, kid, you don’t have to call out your selections. Not that I mind. That high pitched squeal was unpredictably hilarious.”
I scratched the back of my head sheepishly. “Heh, sorry about that. This is all very new to me.”
He zip-lined right in front of me, the sound of his wings buzzing making my eyes grow wider. He zoomed in on my face as if he was analyzing me features, then suddenly, a red dot appeared on him, and I fell on my ass.
The first thought that crossed my mind was a laser sight, and that was exactly what it looked like before a red scanning beam traced me left to right.
He chuckled. “Heh, you’re pretty skittish for a guy with those level 1 stats. Well, allow me to introduce myself, hero. My name is Devicho. That’s D-E-V-I-C-H-O. And I am your temporary guide, here to answer all of your questions!”
I got up off my ass and nodded. “My name is Silas.”
“Yeah, I got that from your stats.”
“Oh, right. Well, crap, where do I start?”
“I got ten minutes.”
“Ten minutes!?”
“Yeah, I know. But them’s the rules. It’s all the boss is allowing me.”
“The boss?”
“The dungeon core. Alzera-Kar. We call this hidden gem mother, as she is the creator of all things in the country of Thalian.”
“Wait, a dungeon core created all of this?”
“Oh boy, you ain’t seen nothing yet! Thalian is made up of five nations: Marviel, land of the fae, Dradersi, land of the dragons, Guedmar, land of the orcs, Dokumbe, land of the goblins, and finally, Senterra, the fallen land of the humans.”
“Fallen?”
His voice dipped. “Hey, listen kid, I’m not gonna sugar coat anything for you here. Senterra is gone. A barren wasteland from what I could tell. If there are any humans left, they are most likely in hiding, so the other races can’t find them. A little history lesson for ya since we are tight on time: long long ago, these five nations lived in harmony as one. That harmony was doomed to fall, as the dungeon core, our great mother, created more and more resources. Now you see, the dragons were selfish bastards. They thrived off of money, greed, and pride. They started the racial divide, and these five species segregated themselves. Walls separate some regions, while big bodies of water separated others. Now, with the way things were rolling, the dragons were on the top of the food chain, and the humans were on the very bottom of it. As expected, all the races started to take advantage of the weaker race, bullying them to no end. Wars broke and Senterra crumbled. I’m talkin’ mass genocide, kid. The savagery, the bloodshed. Oh, it was horrible. Alzera-Kar saw this and was very upset. To help these deprived and enslaved humans, she created cyber sense.”
“You mean that purple evil Kirby that I killed? That was one of them?”
“No, well, yeah, but that was a defective cyber sense. And I’ll explain how. Originally, cyber sense was a mechanism solely for humans. They are particles in the air, nano feeds that respond to humans around its perimeter. They are everywhere, essentially dominating all of Thalian. Now what they do is shape themselves into cyber gear to improve the biological functions of human beings. This gave humans the edge that they needed, but after the humans broke the shackles of the other Thalian nations, they became the bullies. More war, more bloodshed. At this point mother Alzera-Kar was stressed. Her creations were dying. Her creations were killing themselves off. She didn’t know how to contain this ceaseless war and divide. Under this intense strain and tension, her crystal structure shattered, breaking off in three pieces. Without this protection, her core is vulnerable, and open for influence. These three pieces were scattered all over Thalian, but as of late, three nations have those pieces, and kid, they are protecting them with their lives! Dradersi has one, Guedmar has the other, and Marviel has one, too. These three nations are in constant strife! When one nation has all three parts, they can locate Alzera-Kar, and make her do anything they want.”
I was speechless…
“In this vulnerability, the cyber sense that was enhancing humans through cyber gear started to create evil fleshy beings. I’m talkin’ monsters. Of all sizes! They are only detectable by humans, which is why most nations made sense out of keeping humans as detectors. Remember what I said about them practically squattin’ everywhere? Well, that didn’t change. These hideous freaks lurk around, and materialize at any given moment. They became sentient. The upside though is when you kill the stronger ones, you get a full blown cyber gear. Some lesser creatures drop some precious loot too, parts to build a full-fledged cyber gear. It is good to note that cyber gear only operates for humans.”
“I think I’m getting some of the pieces to this puzzle together, here. Was I sent here to restore Senterra?”
“You bet!”
“And find the three shards to help Alzera-Ker?”
“Boy, you caught on quick, didn’cha?”
“But I don’t understand. Why not snatch the shards herself? She is all powerful, right? She’s pretty much the god in this country.”
“Not when she’s unprotected. If mother could become defective when vulnerable, imagine how much harder it’d be for her to get those shards?”
“I guess you’re right…”
“Not only that, but those kingdoms who have her shards are keeping it on lock down. Warded I imagine. It won’t be easy.”
“Why me?” I asked honestly. “I understand her humans here are suffering, and she went out somewhere else to find a hero. I don’t know why she wouldn’t pick someone locally. So I have to ask, why a foreigner? And why me?”
“I guess she saw something special in you that she couldn’t find in her natives. But don’t feel too overwhelmed. You’re not the only hero she went out of her way to find.”
“You mean there are others?”
“Of course! This is an entire nation we are talking about, after all.”
“How can you be so sure? A girl and her titan hound hunted me down back in my home town.”
He paused and then asked me sternly. “What did this girl look like?”
“White hair, real model type bod. A few inches shorter than me. And her titan, a big brawny dude in armor, had a skull for a face.”
“That ain’t sound good.”
“You know her? Her name is Lucyna.”
He sighed. “She’s from, Dradersi, daughter of King Orelus. Usually, dragon-kins have horns on their heads, sometimes along their jaws too. And some scales on their skin. They can materialize wings for flight at will, and are physically strong by nature. Lucyna probably used a spell to disguise herself as a human to remove those features on Earth. What’s more bothersome than that though was she found a way to open a gate to your world, and managed to track you down…”
“Not only track me down, she killed me.”
“I don’t understand. How the heck are you here if she killed you?”
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I’d died and came back to life, isekai’d to this crazy fantasy RPG world.”
“You think this is wacky? You should hear what she thinks about people from Earth! Every race here was inspired by a planet from different galaxies. The plan was to make a cornucopia of races, but things started to get messy quick.”
“This mother seems to appreciate variety.”
“It has its goods and bads, as I’ve already mentioned. Which brings me back to Lucyna. This whole death business, it’s unsettling. And if she has access to Earth the same way mother does, you may very well be the only hero. Mother hadn’t started the recruiting process yet. She is still on the selection stage.”
“Then how did someone like Lucyna even know what she was planning?”
“Could be a precautionary step? Not sure. Lucyna is very smart. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was a few steps ahead of her maker.”
“She’s on my hit list,” I said seriously. “Her and her dog.”
“Hey kid, slow down. You’re nowhere near her league! That dragon-kin is an elite, a royal one at that.”
“Then I’ll level up! Whatever it takes!”
“Kid…”
I wouldn’t expect anyone to understand. It’s not just a vendetta. All of my life I was invisible. I love my mom, but things changed when she started focusing on her career. She was hardly ever there. Dad was never around, either. He taught me to never take shit from anyone, use my fists when I have to, and never give up. That’s it. I was alone, in my own mind, in my own world. I became detached from everything, losing myself in my hobbies, finding fulfillment in playing games. That’s where I belonged. That’s where I felt like I was achieving something, where I was somebody. Still, it would have been nice to feel that out in the real world.
I wanted my life to mean something. Then she came around and snuffed my chances out. But then the dungeon core brought me back and gave me my chance.
"This is an opportunity to start over, to start fresh. I will do right by Alzera-Kar, but not because she gave me this gift. I want to help these tormented humans of Thalian because it’s the right thing to do. A voice for the voiceless, and power for the powerless. She brought me here to become a hero, and I’ll do just that. As for my own personal agenda, that’s secondary. I want that psycho to know what having everything taken away from you feels like! My life wasn’t the best life, but it was my life!”
“You sound motivated! Thadda’ boy!”
“I’m going to raise Senterra up from the grave, and I need you to tell me everything there is to know about getting stronger to do it.”

Not entirely sure if this belongs here but I just realized Section Eight would fit perfectly into the world of Postal. Section Eight was a superhero team from DC Comics and some of it's members include Sixpack who is the leader and an alcoholic, Dogwelder who welds dogs onto people's faces, Bueno Excellente who is a sex offender and can only say the words "Bueno" and "Excellente", and Flemgem who spits mucus that blinds people. I could totally see those characters in a Postal game with how wacky and stupid they are. If I didn't know about Section Eight and you told me these were cut characters from Postal 2 or Postal 4, I would probably believe you.

So I fell in love with yu-gi-oh watching the og anime and my favourite monsters were the Egyptian gods, namely slifer. When I started to play DL, I quickly noticed the cost to reward ratio for the god cards just didn’t make any sense. So I’ve been thinking recently on ways to make them more in line with their anime effects but still have counter-play.
The best thing I’ve come up with so far is to have ED monster version of the god cards that can be summoned by using their respective god cards as material. Similar to how galaxy eyes xyz cards can be summoned by overlaying over each other, the ED monsters could be summoned using their main deck counterparts.
Then I was thinking either you can discard the 1 material to obtain all the god effects from the anime for 1 turn or they get less of the god card effects from the anime as long as they have a material whose original type is divine and original name is, for example, ‘Slifer, the sky dragon’
Any thoughts or ideas only approach alternatives are welcome. Byeeee

it got taken down or censored in less then an hour

A little over 11 years ago, a random post somewhere on reddit asked about favorite dog breeds. Most comments had links to subreddits about various breeds mentioned, but I couldn't find anything regarding my puppers, so I created this sub. I had no desire to mod a sub, and honestly had no idea what it would take. My entire goal was to provide a place that our white fluffballs could bring people together to celebrate how much my pups and your pups mean to us.
I'm not a particularly political person and don't usually get involved in protests. However, I want to address what is going on, just to try and answer questions.
Recently, reddit made a decision to start for using their API's. For those who don't know, and API allows developers to "hook into" the reddit environment, and perform functions. That usually shows up in the form of apps, such as Reddit is Fun (RiF), BaconReader, or Narwhal (all of which are popular mobile apps for reading reddit. The APIs also create a range of mod tools which help me prevent spam (sometimes, at least) or deal with malcontents (which we have fairly little of, thank you!!).
For most of the users of reddit, that's not a big deal, and you might even think it's a good idea. After all if reddit is making money outside of ads, we should see less of them. But, for the developers of those apps and tools that we use, this is a massive hit. Many developers built their apps or toolsets as a labor of love. They tried the official reddit app, found it lacking and decided they could help the community. Sure, they might have in-app purchases, or ads, but for the most part, their basic app is designed to improve on the reddit experience, and do it inexpensively. In fact, charging for APIs is a normal business practice. However, the amount of money that reddit will be charging for access to it's APIs is prohibitive. The creators of one app, for example, have been quoted a sum of $20 million per year in API fees to continue providing their service. For a free app.
As a direct result, many of you are going to be impacted. Your methods of accessing reddit are going to be restricted, your choices removed. That is the entire point of this post. If this was only affecting mods or otherwise invisible to the user community, I would likely have never written this.
From June 12 through June 14, many subreddits are going to "go dark" in protest of this action by reddit. Many mods rely on tools that are far better developed than what reddit provides to successfully manage their subs and this is going to cause the mods a great deal of extra work. Some mods have publicly stated that their subs will simply go away if the situation becomes too burdensome. Some of you may have seen comments about this, some may be surprised when it happens.

I was suspended from Facebook in mid April. It is the second time this has happened. The first time lasted perhaps three weeks and my account was magically restored. This time, however, it seems that's not going to happen. Once again, I have no clue as to why this action occurred. I post mainly art, music, poetry, photographs, Buddhist info, etc. Oh, I get into occasional political skirmishes (I love to harass Ted Cruz), but I don't get out of line. I'm a 75 year old man.
Facebook is a means to stay in touch with friends, kids, grandkids, and that in the world which delights the soul. I miss it terribly. I have also been a shareholder of significance for nearly a decade and I am appalled at how the company treats its patrons.
If you have successfully regained your account through the California Attorney General, I would love to hear some specifics. Can I appeal via email or the CAG website, or must I submit a written letter? Any guidance as to what I should include in my appeal will be welcomed. Thank you in advance!
