2023.06.07 00:47 hijoput4 Don't sleep thinking firefox protects your privacy...
https://accounts.firefox.com/en/legal/privacy Since most people don't check the privacy agreements, here it is:
Privacy Notice Firefox Privacy Notice
Effective August 1, 2022 {: datetime="2022-08-01" } At Mozilla, we believe that privacy is fundamental to a healthy internet.
That’s why we build Firefox, and all our products, to give you greater control over the information you share online and the information you share with us. We strive to collect only what we need to improve Firefox for everyone.
In this Privacy Notice, we explain what data Firefox shares and point you to settings to share even less. We also adhere to the practices outlined in the Mozilla privacy policy for how we receive, handle and share information we collect from Firefox. Firefox by default shares data to: Improve performance and stability for users everywhere {: #health-report }
Interaction data: Firefox sends data about your interactions with Firefox to us (such as number of open tabs and windows; number of webpages visited; number and type of installed Firefox Add-ons; and session length) and Firefox features offered by Mozilla or our partners (such as interaction with Firefox search features and search partner referrals). Technical data: Firefox sends data about your Firefox version and language; device operating system and hardware configuration; memory, basic information about crashes and errors; outcome of automated processes like updates, safebrowsing, and activation to us. When Firefox sends data to us, your IP address is temporarily collected as part of our server logs.
Read the telemetry documentation for Desktop, Android, or iOS or learn how to opt-out of this data collection on Desktop and Mobile. {: #telemetry } Search {: #defaultsearch }
You can perform searches directly from several places in Firefox, including the Awesome Bar, Search Bar, or on a New Tab. We receive data about how you engage with search in Firefox and the number of searches you request from our search partners.
Location data: When you first use Firefox, it uses your IP address to set your default search provider based on your country. Learn more. Search queries: Firefox by default sends search queries to your search provider to help you discover common phrases other people have searched for and improve your search experience if your selected search provider supports search suggestions. Learn more, including how to disable this feature. Links to our default search providers are: Google Microsoft (Bing) If you enable "Improve the Firefox Suggest Experience," we and our partners may also receive your search queries. Learn more below.
Recommend relevant content
Firefox displays content, such as Add-on Recommendations, Top Sites (websites suggested by Mozilla for first-time Firefox users), and Pocket Recommendations (which is part of the Mozilla family).
Location data: Firefox uses your IP address to suggest relevant content based on your country and state. Technical & Interaction data: Firefox sends us data such as the position, size and placement of content we suggest, as well as basic data about your interactions with content. This includes the number of times content is displayed or clicked. Pocket Recommendations: We recommend content to you based on your browsing history, language, and country location. The process of deciding which stories you should see based on your browsing history happens locally in your copy of Firefox, and neither Mozilla nor Pocket receives a copy of your browsing history. To help you see relevant Pocket Recommendations based on your location, Firefox shares your language and country location with Pocket. Mozilla and Pocket receive aggregated data about the recommendations you see and click. We also share aggregated data about the sponsored content you see and click with our third-party ad platform Adzerk so advertisers can see how many people click on their articles. This aggregated data does not identify you personally. Top Sites: When you click on a Sponsored Top Sites tile on New Tab, we share your country, region, county (if you're in the US), the tile you clicked, and the time you clicked with AdMarketplace (a third-party referral platform) to verify you navigated to the website. Firefox does not share your IP address or any other information that could be used to identify you. Add-on and Feature Recommendations: We recommend Add-ons in two places: the Manage Your Extensions Page (about:addons) and the Awesome Bar, where you search or type in URLs. We may also recommend Firefox Features in the Awesome Bar. We base the recommendations in about:addons on a cookie. We base the recommendations in the Awesome Bar on your interaction with Firefox. Mozilla does not receive your browser history. The process happens locally in your own computer’s copy of Firefox. Learn More about Awesome Bar recommendations or Extensions Page recommendations.
Improve security for users everywhere {: #security }
Webpage data to DNS Resolver service: For some Firefox users, Firefox routes DNS requests to a resolver service that has agreed to Mozilla’s strict privacy standards for resolvers. This provides added protection from privacy leaks to local networks and also from certain DNS security attacks. System logs of your DNS requests are deleted from the service within 24 hours and are only used for the purpose of DNS resolution. Learn more or see our default DNS resolver service providers below:
Cloudflare NextDNS Comcast CIRA Shaw
Technical data for updates: Desktop versions of Firefox check for browser updates by persistently connecting to Mozilla servers. Your Firefox version, language, and device operating system are used to apply the correct updates. Mobile versions of Firefox may connect to another service if you used one to download and install Firefox. Learn more. {: #auto-updates }
Technical data for add-ons blocklist: Firefox for Desktop and Android periodically connect to Mozilla to protect you and others from malicious add-ons. Your Firefox version and language, device operating system, and list of installed add-ons are needed to apply and update the add-ons blocklist. Learn more.
Webpage and technical data to Google’s SafeBrowsing service: To help protect you from malicious downloads, Firefox sends basic information about unrecognized downloads to Google's SafeBrowsing Service, including the filename and the URL it was downloaded from.Learn more or read Google’s Privacy Policy. Opting out prevents Firefox from warning you of potentially illegitimate or malicious websites or downloaded files.
Webpage and technical data to Certificate Authorities: When you visit a secure website (usually identified with a URL starting with "HTTPS"), Firefox validates the website's certificate. This may involve Firefox sending certain information about the website to the Certificate Authority identified by that website. Opting out increases the risk of your private information being intercepted. Learn more. Crash reports {: #crash-reporter }
By default on desktop versions of Firefox, we will ask you to share a report with more detailed information about crashes with Mozilla, but you always have the choice to decline.
Sensitive data: Crash reports include a ‘dump file’ of Firefox’s memory contents at the time of the crash, which may contain data that identifies you or is otherwise sensitive to you. Webpage data: Crash reports include the active URL at time of crash. Technical data: Crash reports include data on why Firefox crashed and the state of device memory and execution during the crash.
Read the full documentation here. Measure and support our marketing
Campaign and Referral Data: This helps Mozilla understand the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. {: #referraltracking } On Desktop: Firefox by default sends Mozilla HTTP data that may be included with Firefox’s installer. This enables us to determine the website domain or advertising campaign (if any) that referred you to our download page. Read the documentation or opt-out before installation. On Mobile: Firefox for iOS and Android by default send mobile campaign data to Adjust, our analytics vendor, which has its own privacy policy. Mobile campaign data includes a Google advertising ID or Android ID, IP address, timestamp, country, language/locale, operating system, and app version. Read the documentation. {: #thirdparty }
Firefox Suggest and Top Pick {: #searches }
Mozilla is developing a new feature that helps deliver you better information with less effort. It’s called Firefox Suggest and an early version of it is currently available to users in the United States. By default, Firefox Suggest shows you recommended and sponsored content based on local data stored on your own computer, such as websites from your browsing history, bookmarks and open tabs.
Sites you visit: Firefox sends Mozilla which suggestions you click or dismiss and Mozilla may share that data with its partners. Location data: Firefox temporarily sends Mozilla your IP address which we use to suggest content based on your country, state, and city. Mozilla may share location information with our partners, but partners will not receive your IP address. Technical & interaction data: Firefox sends Mozilla data such as the number of times Firefox suggests or displays content and your clicks on that content, as well as basic data about your interactions with Firefox Suggest. Mozilla shares information with our partners about how many times suggestions are shown and clicked for verification and feature improvement.
If you choose to enable "Improve the Firefox Suggest Experience," Firefox shares the following information to improve your browsing experience and to improve the service:
Searches: Firefox sends Mozilla what you type into the search bar and Mozilla may share that data with its partners.
We take measures to limit our and our partners’ ability to identify you. Learn more. If you use these features, Firefox will share data to provide you functionality and help us improve our products and services: {: #optional-features } Firefox Accounts
Registration data: Mozilla receives your email address and a hash of your password when you create a Firefox Account or sign-up to Join Firefox. You can choose to include a display name or profile image. Your email address is sent to our email vendor, Acoustic, which has its own privacy policy. Location data: For security purposes, we store the IP addresses used to access your Firefox Account in order to approximate your city and country. We use this data to send you email alerts if we detect suspicious activity, such as account logins from other locations. Interaction data: We receive data such as your visits to the Firefox Accounts website, dashboards and menu preferences, what products and services you use in connection with your Firefox Account, and your interactions with our emails and SMS messages. We use this to understand your use of our products and services and to send you more useful Firefox Account Tips and in-product messages. Technical data: To display which devices are synced to your Firefox Account and for security functionality, we store your device operating system, browser and version, timestamp, locale, and the same information for devices connected to your account. If you use your Firefox Account to log into other websites or services (such as AMO or Pocket), we receive the timestamp of those log-ins.
Read the full documentation or learn more, including how to manage your Firefox Account data or our data practices for websites and email. You can also read the privacy notices for our Firefox Account connected services, which are:
Firefox Monitor Firefox Notes Firefox Sync Firefox Relay Mozilla VPN
Sync {: #sync }
Synced data: If you enable Sync, Mozilla receives the information that you sync across devices in encrypted form. This may include Firefox tabs, add-ons, passwords, payment autofill information, bookmarks, history, and preferences. Deleting your Firefox Account will delete related Firefox Sync content. You can also read the documentation. Technical and Interaction data: If you enable sync, Firefox will periodically send basic information using Telemetry about the most recent attempt to sync your data, such as when it took place, whether it succeeded or failed, and what type of device is attempting to sync. You can also read the documentation.
Learn more, including how to enable or disable sync. Location {: #location-services }
Location data to Google's geolocation service: Firefox always asks before determining and sharing your location with a requesting website (for example, if a map website needs your location to provide directions). To determine location, Firefox may use your operating system’s geolocation features, Wi-fi networks, cell phone towers, or IP address, and may send this data to Google's geolocation service, which has its own privacy policy.
Learn more. Website notifications {: #push-notifications }
Connection data: If you allow a website to send you notifications, Firefox connects with Mozilla and uses your IP address to relay the message. Mozilla cannot access the content of messages. Interaction data: We receive aggregate data such as the number of Firefox subscriptions and unsubscriptions to website notifications, number of messages sent, timestamps, and senders (which may include specific website providers).
Read the full documentation or learn more, including how to revoke website notifications. Add-ons {: #addons }
You can install Add-ons from addons.mozilla.org (“AMO”) or from the Firefox Add-ons Manager, which is accessible from the Firefox menu button in the toolbar.
Search queries: Search queries in the Add-on Manager are sent to Mozilla to provide you with suggested Add-ons. Interaction data: We receive aggregate data about visits to the AMO website and the Add-ons Manager in Firefox, as well as interactions with content on those pages. Read about data practices on Mozilla websites. Technical data for updates: Firefox periodically connects with Mozilla to install updates to Add-ons. Your installed Add-ons, Firefox version, language, and device operating system are used to apply the correct updates.

2023.06.07 00:06 fntastk My very first Goodwill bins experience went just as I had thought! Follow up
I am lucky to live 15 minutes away from an outlet location. I've always known it was there but have only visited once when I was looking for an ugly sweater for a party about 10 years ago. My location is dubbed a "competitive" spot, which I did not know until this past weekend.
I made this post asking about the bins in general.
So my brother and I arrived shortly after opening and we were both shell shocked upon entering lol. It was very full. People were concentrated in one corner going crazy so I assumed they just rolled those bins out. We started on the other side where people weren't looking and just kind of awkwardly went in for it. About five minutes in my brother was like, "they're coming" 😳 and we saw the workers bringing new bins to the middle of the outlet. A few seconds later people ran and FLOCKED. We watched this happen again, literally just taking it in. Was truly crazy.
The third rotation, WE WENT FOR IT! It was much more civil than I had expected. Nobody pushed, it seemed like many regulars were chatting while digging (mostly guys in their 30's and 40's, but one guy my age who resells vintage shirts. I am friends with him on FB) and everyone kind of just moved down the line quickly. Which sucked because I wasn't able to dig that much before moving down. A lot of times I felt like I was in the way because of the huge ass cart I grabbed but nobody was mean or confrontational about it. One man accidentally hit my cart and he apologized and was nice about it. The cart overall was just awkward though, I ended up parking it somewhere against the wall and not getting it until we were finished. Next time I go, I might bring a reusable tote or pick one up from the bins (I saw many) so I can just hold it on my shoulder or something? Idk
Overall, it went much better than I had thought. Found lots of underwear and dirty socks, which I was warned about, many on the floor too... doesn't really bother me though but I didn't realize how many I'd find lol. The workers were all very friendly and they cleaned that stuff up entirely between the rotations. Instead of getting yelled at like I read online, a worker politely asked us to move because they were changing the bins. They were also chatting with the regulars as they moved stuff in. The music was good, too, and I got in the zone after about 45 minutes.
Unfortunately, my brother didn't have breakfast and I was also getting hungry so we left after about 2 hours. I TOTALLY could have stayed longer, this would have been a good time for a lunch break. I noticed they stopped the rotations for a while at this point and we didn't know if that was it for the day or what was going on. I'll have to visit in the afternoon just to see what that is like.
The haul? Well, there wasn't one... lol. Here is what I found and put back, in order: * Aerie white cropped sweater - SO much pilling but adorable * Aerie offline cropped tank top - XS, in hindsight should have grabbed it for what I was paying but this was only the second thing I found so I was kind of nervous lol plus they were beginning to roll these bins away and we just kind of had to dip * Levi's straight jeans - jeans literally do not sell at all for me so I put them back. Also these were maybe kids? Size said 12 which is my size and these were definitely not my size. * Random vintage old lady birdhouse sweater - loved it but I am not sure how these vintage sweaters would do as I have a few listed now that don't have any attention * Anthropologie sweater - Looked like an older style or possibly shrunken * Zara trafaluc crop blouse - Also looked like an older style and Zara doesn't seem to sell well for me either unless it's something super in demand * Kut from the kloth skinny jeans - Debated, but yeah... jeans do terrible for me. Wish I picked them up though just to try this brand * Random NWT mom jeans - I was interested bc never heard of the brand before, but tag said $30 so I put them back. They were my size but mom jeans tend to run small on me so ultimately just put them back.
What we did get were some 2000's-ish silly shirts to repurpose (my brother's thing, not mine lol) or use for the gym, an old navy dress (Regular GW was asking $10.99... LOL), a pullover for myself, and a thermal for my mom. Total was a few cents over $6!
I am ready to go back ASAP! Tomorrow I have plans but I am hoping to be back Thursday and give it a shot by myself.
Edit: Also, the bins themselves were not as dirty as I expected. My hands were not as grimy as I was preparing for! Still wiped them down really well afterwards. I packed up all the stuff needed to use the laundromat in case it was extra gross, but I just used my own washer at home. Yeah, the items smelled musty and my pullover kinda smelled like puke but it all came out after washing.

2023.06.06 23:59 jamvng Level scaling effect on sense of progression
I’ve seen the complaint about the negatives of level scaling a lot, and I’m genuinely curious on having a full discussion on it. There are definite pros and cons on it. I’ve so far found it to be more good than bad in my personal play. But I know everyone’s mileage will vary. I know there’s been some discussion in the past during betas, but saw fresh complaints from reviews and stuff on release and wanted to put my own foot forward.
In short for me, I have not found a huge effect on my sense of progression like others have had. Instead, I can see the benefits more often in endgame. My baseline here was Diablo 3 FYI. And that could differ from others where Diablo 2 (more limited experience for “endgame”) or POE (have not played), etc.
General Pros:
- allows entire open world to be used at end game
- all content is relevant
- can party with anyone regardless of level
General Cons:
- world scales with you so you don’t feel more powerful (weaker sometimes)
- little to no sense of progression
Some commentary: I don’t do group play often, but it’s nice to know I can do it easily. The bigger perk to me is the relevant content. In Diablo 3, at one point, only Greater Rifts felt like real content for me. Bounties were for mats. And you would breeze through, not really paying attention. Or you wouldn’t even need to do it anymore once you had enough mats. Same thing applies to normal rifts.
In terms of character progression, at endgame, in Diablo 3, once your build was online which happened very quickly, all progression was minimal. You would grind for small affix upgrades, or to upgrade your legendary gems and affixes. The easiest way to feel those upgrades was being able to push farther rifts. For D3, all other content was basically super easy and not a good measuring stick. That’s really no different with Nightmare Dungeons in D4. If people want to just screen clear things with no effort, maybe that’s not the vision the team had for D4? Personally I don’t need content I only need to pay 25% attention. I rather have something more engaging.
In addition, just as with D3, a lot of those small upgrades are from your gear affixes, augments and paragon. We still have those in D4 just with smaller damage scaling (which is probably a good thing).
I can see the scaling issue be more relevant in the campaign, 1-50. As your build isn’t online, and you may or may not get good gear upgrades at the right time, or your build might not be working out. But imo, that is a fine trade off with the aforementioned positives.

2023.06.06 23:19 stores_kitchen_knife Im so lost
Im a teen and in 1 year i’ll be choosing subjects that will help me get into uni but i’m so stuck.
Im in love with humanities especially history (cold wa wars in general) and english lit. My parents worked extremely hard to get me into a tutoring program so i can pass my science and higher maths exams and make me stand out to unis but i absolutely despise science and my parents expect me to get a high paying sciency/maths career.
I like biology but i can’t really find any careers online that suit me and i want to make my parents happy so i just want some suggestions to research!

2023.06.06 23:10 i_imagine Anything I'm missing from my road bike to fixie conversion?
Hi guys. Hope this question is ok to ask here. I'm planning on building my first fixie and just wanted to make sure I'm doing everything right. This is also my first bike build in general so I'm buying a few tools as well. Here's what I've got so far:
Tools
Lockring Wrench Crank Wrench Bottom Bracket tool (Would I even need one?)
I've got other wrenches, allen keys, and other general tools already. I just needed some specialized ones. I don't have a chain tightener or anything tho, but I shouldn't need one right?
Parts
Chainring Bolts Chain I'm missing a cog and wheels. I have no idea where to find them since most places I checked online had everything in USD and I live in Canada so I'm a bit worried about shipping. Would it be better to shop from a local bike shop or order something online?
I also plan on reusing the chainring, crank, and other parts from the road bike I'm converting. My budget is $300 CAD, with about ~$100 set aside for the actual bike. The rest is for parts and tools. So far the cost is about $55. I'm looking to keep this as budget friendly as possible, but I know that I should be paying a bit extra for some stuff like the cog.
Any and all advice would be much appreciated.

2023.06.06 23:06 Gaydolf-Litler Day one. Wall of text rant incoming.
I've been smoking on and off since I was about 17, now 22. Took some big breaks and some small breaks, but i'd say ~70% of that time I was not on a break.
Man this weed shit is wack. At one point I heard someone say: if you're planning on quitting, pay attention to how weed actually makes you feel and realize that it doesn't benefit you, makes you anxious, etc. This had the result of making me realize, I can't even really describe the feeling. I just know I get dumb and lazy and eat too much sugar. I don't give my fiancee the attention she deserves. I get annoyed with my cat too easy. Weed makes me want to watch porn and drink and vape and in general just makes me do the things that I actually frown upon when done by others.
So why do I smoke?? Boredom. When I get home from work I smoke weed and play video games until I fall asleep, then I wake up the next day, go to work, repeat the cycle. Weekends became nothing more than a chance to smoke more weed. I have driven while less-than-sober plenty of times, although never when totally stoned. It's so simple and easy to just spend all my free time getting stoned and gaming online and not worry about what i'm going to work on and spending my time doing cool shit. I guess I also smoke because it's kind of fun to be dumb for a while and not worry about important stuff I need to do. Just put it off.
I am a person that feels a lot of guilt in general when I fuck up. Anything from accidentally making a rude comment to not being as efficient as I could or not finishing that half-done project sitting next to my desk. None of those are major fuck ups but these are the things I judge myself for, I guess.
So yesterday was my last day. Took a fat edible and ripped my dab pen a bunch, then gathered up everything weed related in my house and threw it in the kitchen trash. Fast forward a few hours and i'm starting to come down, so I wanted more. I thought I left my dab pen out of the trash for the night, so when I realized I had actually tossed it already I figured "well, the die is cast" and brought the kitchen trash out to the dumpster. This was a big moment for me because every time i've tried to quit weed or nicotine in the past, I would have dug it out of the trash for "just one more hit".
And this WHOLE TIME i've been spending loads of money on weed. Probably like $100/month. I can't afford that shit.
TLDR: weed makes me feel bad about myself even when I'm doing good and makes me waste the time that could make me better.
Marijuana? I don't wanna

2023.06.06 22:58 ireland1904 I just found out that my boyfriend (25M) has stolen from me (24F). Where do I go from here?
Let me set the scene, my boyfriend (25M) and I (24F) have been together for 7 years this April, and he is the best partner in every way. We have very similar interests, have made many improvements in our communication, support each other through tough times, and love each other a ton.
Currently, we live together and have for 2 (almost 3) years.
My boyfriend, let's call him Dylan, has always had money issues and some significant mental health challenges (depression and ADHD) that flared up about 2 years into our relationship. Obviously, I did nothing but support him, and he has made many improvements over the past few years -- particularly in handling his mental health by getting medicated and seeking professional help.
But money remains a struggle for him.
For example, more than once, he's been late on rent and has had to ask our landlords for extensions which he always handled appropriately and then paid off in full when he could. Previous landlords and I have always been understanding, ESPECIALLY because we are both full-time students who live in a very expensive city.
Another essential piece of info is that he absolutely refuses to discuss money or ask for financial help from his parents, although they have offered and would be willing to help him out of a bind (and they have before)!
He has disclosed to me that money/finances are his biggest anxiety and that often, ADHD makes it hard for him to keep track of his money, particularly if it is just on his debit card, because he cannot physically see it.
I understood this because I know ADHD affects decision-making, processing, and risk-taking behaviours. I generally believed he was improving in this area by seeking specialized help for his ADHD. I also made suggestions that might help him keep track of it (i.e. putting money in envelopes monthly so that he can see the cash). But he never followed through with this advice.
We have had lots of conversations about the future of our relationship (marriage, moving, kids, etc.) and how I need to see improvements in managing his finances before I feel comfortable committing to him in that way. He 100% agreed and has told me that those are efforts and changes he wants to make before we move forward in our relationship.
Last month or so, I've come to find out that he has stopped attending his counselling/therapy sessions (likely due to being unable to pay for them, though he did not disclose that to me directly), but he reassured me he was doing well. He has also recently come off his anti-depressants (per his doctor's recommendation -- if I can trust what he is telling me).
Whatever, these changes were no biggie to me, and it seemed he was still doing well without those supports.
I am currently in a rigorous post-graduate program at a university in our very expensive city, and I have been unable to work full-time hours for A WHILE now, meaning my own finances have taken a dive, and I have been very strapped for cash. I have had to rely on loans, grants, measly savings, and occasionally help from my own family to get by and pay my bills.
However, my partner has been working full-time since September.
A few months ago, my friend and I purchased Taylor Swift tickets which might not have been an excellent financial decision. Still, I never splurge on myself and seeing Taylor would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. However, paying for the tickets and the Air BNB deposit nearly took all my money.
In the months since I bought my tickets, I have been saving any spare cash that I have toward my trip and expenses in a "safe" location in our shared apartment. Between birthdays, graduation, and a few other instances of my family wanting to send me money, I saved close to $500 for my trip. I was very proud and excited about having some money to put toward a fun trip this summer.
My partner knows what this money is for, how broke I am, and where the money is located because I TRUST him.
Today, I got home from visiting my family (my boyfriend stayed behind) and deposited a bit more cash into my stockpile, only to discover that there was only $100 sitting in the pot...
I was heartbroken and didn't know how even to react. Obviously, my partner has stolen $400 from me without informing me.
I confronted him via text as he was at work, and he explained that he had taken the money to pay off last month's rent without my consent/knowledge. He seemed genuinely apologetic and told me he planned to replace the money before I got home from my trip, as he now has the cash on him.
But I don't know what to do. I feel that my trust is broken, and upset that he feels that he can steal from me without consequence. I am hurt and considering telling his parents that he is financially struggling to the point that he has stolen from me ...
But I also know that he is clearly struggling with mental health and stuff beyond just money ... I know that ADHD can be crippling and make these sorts of decisions seem justified.
What is your advice? Do I forgive, move on, and accept the money he is willing to pay back? How does this bode for the future of our relationship? How can I ensure that this doesn't happen again? Is this normal behaviour from someone with ADHD? Should I reach out to his parents privately?
I am at a loss.

2023.06.06 22:35 if0rg0t2remember [MOD] Reddit API Changes, Subreddit Blackout & Why It Matters To You
Introduction
It's possible that those of you who are active on other subreddits may have read about the changes in pricing that Reddit has recently released for its API - the system apps use to get and send data from and to Reddit. But for those of you who haven't, here's a summary. Recently, Reddit has announced some
changes to their API that may have pretty serious impact on many of it's users.
You may have already seen quite a few posts like these across some of the other subreddits that you browse, so we're just going to cut to the chase.
Third Party Reddit apps (such as Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Sync, Reddit for Blind and others) are going to become unbelievably expensive for their developers to run, which will in turn either kill the apps, or result in a high monthly fee to the users if they choose to use one of those apps to browse. Put simply, each request to Reddit within these mobile apps will cost the developer money. The developer of Apollo
was quoted around $2 million per month for the current rate of usage. The only way for these apps to continue to be viable for the developer is if you (the user) pay a monthly fee, and realistically, this is most likely going to just outright kill them.
Put simply: If you use a third party app to browse Reddit, you will most likely no longer be able to do so, or be charged a monthly fee to keep it viable. In addition many community created bots or tools may cease to function. Already Reddit completely disabled Pushift which powered a large number of tools that mods rely on to more easily search reddit or view user history. They've vowed to re-enable some of these API users for approved purposes or "verified moderators" but we don't know what that means.
Why It Matters
This community has a higher than average number of App and
old.reddit.com users. While this still leaves the official Reddit app, it is a giant step towards monopolizing how users view reddit, removing customization and leaving them with options that aren't as functional as the older interface or third party apps.
The official Reddit App is not funtional for Vision Impaired indivuals because it does not support screen capture or screen reading technology which assists them to use Reddit. The removal of third-party apps may significantly hinder their ability to browse Reddit in general. More info
here and
the blind announcement.
Many moderators are going to be significantly hindered from moderating their communities because 3rd party mobile apps provide mod tools that the official app doesn't support. Simple things like the mod log don't exist and other tools like the mod queue are not sortable. In addition information density is very low on the official app and context is nearly impossible. If bots that rely on API rather than user sessions also shut down then many communities may be at risk. This means longer wait times on post approvals, reports, modmails and higher mod workload.
NSFW Content is no longer going to be available in the API. This means that, even if 3rd party apps continue to survive, or even if you pay a fee to use a 3rd party app, you will not be able to access NSFW content on it. You will only be able to access it on the official Reddit app or for moderation purposes. We are unaware at this time if bots that are allowed to use API calls will still have access to NSFW content or not.
Open Letter to Reddit & Blackout
In light of what's happening above,
an open letter has been released by the broader moderation community, and has already been crossposted here.
In solidarity with thousands of other subreddits who are impacted by this change, we will be shutting down the
Shave_Bazaar subreddit for 48 hours from June 12th to June 14th. You will not be able to read or make posts during that time.
If you'd like to get involved, you can find out what you can do to help at
Save3rdPartyApps- or, if you moderate a subreddit, its sister sub
ModCoord.

2023.06.06 22:14 ainteasybeincheesy Neighbors attorney sent legal letter about cats
Sorry for the long post and format, I'm on mobile and wanna make sure I get every detail
So my parents have two cats(indoor and fixed but one of them will go outside from time to time but doesn't leave our front or back yard) there is a colony of about four-five cats that hang around our neighborhood but generally stay on/near my parents property, they are outdoor cats and my parents don't claim them they just kinda roam wherever they want. We're trying to catch them to get them fixed so they don't have anymore babies but are pretty skittish.
The neighbor across the street from us has been a pain in the ass for a while now but ever since she lost her job has had nothing but free time and called animal control twice on us saying our cats are pooping and peeing on her yard and causing health issues, she says she has video proof but we've never seen it. we've explained to them that these outdoor cats are not ours and showed them our two cats that stay inside almost all day. Animal control just said if our two cats poop on her yard then we have to clean it which is fine we'll do.
Yesterday my dad gets a letter in the mail from a local attorney that said our cats are causing a health issue defecating and peeing on her yard (didn't say it was her just from a neighbor but we know it was her). It went on to cite two municipal codes which I looked up (hopefully correctly using library.municode online) and don't match the countys code regarding animals that I saw. Now on the bottom it says "it is not the intention of my client to have criminal charges put against him but unless he complies with code they will have no choice"
The codes it cited were for an animal to be a public nuisance on another person's property and the second code was for curbing and cleaning up after your pet if they defecate in a public or private area.
A. Can they bring criminal charges for this? I called animal control and they said if the cats aren't ours were not liable for it. And B. Should I reach out to an attorney or is this just a pointless scare letter? This is in California BTW and I can provide the county if needed.

2023.06.06 22:05 talibsblade Should I look for a new therapist?
Hi everyone. I took the first step into talking to a therapist about my anxiety and other problems. She's very nice and I liked her vibe. I had my second session with her and I'm not quite sure if I should stick to her or find another therapist.
My first session with her was two weeks ago. We talked about my experiences, when I first suffered from my problems and my general background. I left feeling optimistic and generally happy.
Today's session was the complete opposite. It seems as if she forgot the important things we discussed the week prior. She asked me again to explain my first experience when it came to my anxiety. At first, I said okay this makes sense to discuss the topic again, but she genuinely forgot everything I told her. It's as if she wasn't paying attention to this, which I feel is such an important topic. She did remember other things we spoke of, but they weren't necessarily as important or as pivotal as this. It completely took me out of the session.
At one point she got the sense that I was taken out of the session and she asked me how I'm feeling in that very moment. I explained how I'm shocked that she forgot such an important piece of information which she kept denying, and then later admitted saying she did but it's because she can't necessarily remember everything. I'm surprised because there isn't much to remember as it's only our second session.
She then began to get defensive as I explained I wouldn't forget anything this important about my clients. She then brought up a topic we touched on early in the session (my partners and I consensually sending nude photos to one another) and said it's fucked up to do, in a very judgey tone, and doubled down on it. Not really sure what to make of this.
I left the session feeling pretty shitty and realistically pretty ripped off. Is this usually the process when you first start? Do I look for someone new? If so, what do I look for in the next consults?

2023.06.06 20:39 nutjobally Totally confused about disappearing sub/potential relationship… has anyone else has something similar to this happen?
Hey ladies (and dudes if applicable) So I’ve had the strangest few days and I’m very confused and to be honest a little hurt.
I met this guy who was like a total dream… to the point I actually thought he was one of my old subs who was butthurt and using what he knew about me to lure me in and trick me… Anyway- he wasn’t he was 100% who he said he was… he was handsome and intelligent, funny, sweet, totally on my wavelength. And generally I am totally ACE with my subs but with him… I mean… I know this will sound crazy but I could actually see a relationship with him… like marriage, kids- the lot. He was American and we’d have to have figured that out… but both of us were on the exact same page and honestly my heart was fluttering (as well as other places 😂😂😍)
So my schedules are crazy anyway- um a single mum who works from home, I have subs in the USA in multiple time zones and one in Australia & only one (and a few guys I get sends from and converse with but I don’t own them per say) in the UK…
So the other night I spent the whole night awake speaking to this guy (let’s call him P for perfection) and both of us are just blown away by how much we have in common and how strong and instant our connection was.
So we had a voice call and he sent me a verification offering (£80 which is $100 USD initially and then £200 which is $250 USD) due to his circumstances being different to usual (I didn’t mention that this guy actually earns a LOT of money… but that wasn’t anywhere near the best thing about him - just a massive surprise bonus after my heart and lady garden were already fluttering.
So this is where I fucked up…
I was due to speak to him properly the following night but I had a call from my friend who was in floods of tears, locked out of her home like 2 hours bus ride, 25-30 minute taxi/drive away from my home. She had moved to my county from another area wayyyyy up north about a year ago to be with her partner as she was pregnant… and so just doesn’t have that many people in her support network yet… but she will when she starts socialising because she’s an awesome human 😎🥰 So I actually ask him if he’ll send me money for a taxi so that I can get there and back quickly as possible so we can have our chat… it would have been around £35 each way and I couldn’t justify spending that and I wasn’t about to ask my crying friend to cough up the taxi money (she had just found out that her partner had been unfaithful and was on her way home to speak to him after telling him she knew on the phone- but when she got there- rather than sticking around and trying to make it up to her- he basically just packed a bag and fucked off with their car and left her with no house keys or way to get in with their 5 month old baby) so obviously to P - the probably sounds like a load of shite - I hadn’t yet told him about my own situation which is this-
Generally I am well off, I don’t need anything from anyone- I usually have savings of around £5000 Minimum that’s accessible and I have a home and a car. This last few years have been difficult- I had a family member I was caring for in the final months of her life until she passed and so obviously had to reduce my hours to work, I also had a partner who I had no idea was just casually using my credit cards until I started to get calls, texts and emails about my minimum payments being ridiculous…
My savings disappeared and I was earning less than usual, my subs are very helpful but aren’t in a position to fix the damage that my ex did (most of them I haven’t even told as I don’t want to dump my shit on them- I was stupid trusting a guy who I cared about and it’s not their problem to fix…
So anyway I used the money P sent me to pay towards 3 of the 6 maxed out credit cards that I have and I get paid on Friday - I didn’t have £70-80 to pay for a round trip in a taxi and I missed our call…
So the next day we arranged a call 9pm my time- but when I got back from being out, I fell asleep in bed with my little boy watching a movie and missed the call again….
I got up, took my son to school and went to work - I had meetings today so had to go out. I messaged him at 3pm ish my time byob Snapchat today saying I fell asleep and could we speak today? When I checked back around an hour or two later - he had just totally disappeared 👻 deleted Snapchat- deleted Reddit- I tried to send him £1 on cashapp just asking him to come back… and it said ‘your payment cannot be sent’
I feel totally jilted and a sub had never made me feel like this before…
He clearly thought that i was taking the piss out of him and that I was just not going to keep my word… but these thing’s genuinely happened and with the time difference too and both of us working it wasn’t easy…
I have no idea why he wouldn’t have sent me a message saying how he felt or given me an opportunity to explain…
Has anyone else experienced something like this? I’ve never really been ‘dumped’ or ghosted by a sub… and I’ve not actually ever met a sub who I was developing romantic feelings towards… my heart hurts a bit 💔😞 I don’t know if he’s going to come back or if this is just over… advice and support welcomed… if you haven’t got anything nice or supportive to say then please don’t comment… I’m hurt so #bekind.
Hope you are all having a lovely day (well, I hope you are all having the day you deserve 😍🥰😘 I’m not 😞 but im hoping you ladies & gents might cheer me up a bit ☺️❤️🔥)
Edit: he appears to have done something to my cashapp also 😕 I don’t understand why he would do this to me without any explanation… I actually feel like crying. I’m trusted and respected here on Reddit- I coach dommes and subs- and i connect people who are compatible- I give subs to other dommes who are better suited to them than I am… I am honest, kind, compassionate and ethical… I created a community to try and change the bad rep that Findommes have and to share my values with others. I’m just totally confused- he seems to actually be angry with me and maybe even thinks I’m a scammer? I’m really heartbroken that this wonderful man thinks badly of me. It was genuine issues that came up and I so desperately wanted to chat with him… I’m waiting for cashapp to get back to me about why I can’t cash out and why my limits have changed so I might be able to find out a little about what he was thinking…

2023.06.06 20:31 wertraut [Online][PF2e/Other][Fridays 4-8 pm GMT][LGBTQIA+ Friendly][New Player Friendly] Newish GM looking for 3-4 players to join weekly PF2e game.
About me I've always loved stories so TTRPGs have fascinated me basically since the moment I found out they're a thing. This was some time ago now and since then I've played some and GMd some but never found a consistent group that was as excited about creating stories in our collective minds as I was. So I said fuck it and decided to make this post to seek out like-minded individuals.
About the Game I'll be running Pathfinder 2nd Edition with a heavy focus on roleplay with some tactical combat sprinkled into the mix. If you're looking for a combat focused game this won't be it.
I'm expecting everyone to be somewhat serious, tho I won't stray into Grimdark territory (except if this is something everyone wants). I expect our first few games to be heroic fantasy, we're playing Pathfinder after all. General type of campaign/story we'll discuss once I've found enough players so everyone gets a say in what they'd prefer to play.
If you haven't played PF2e before: Fear not, I will teach.
Requirements - Being available to play once a week. Not being able to make it from time to time isn't a problem tho I expect you to make the game a priority in your life. Just showing up every other session isn't going to cut it.
- Either be new to PF2e/TTRPGs yourself or be mindful/patient of/with people (me included) that are still learning (both the system as well as playing/GMing TTRPGs).
- Be comfortable using not only voice but also video. If using video is a total no-go for you (for whatever reason) but you think that this game would fit you otherwise, just fill out the form anyway and note it somewhere. We'll figure something out.
- Be open to try other systems as well. We'll be starting with PF2e as it's your typical fantasy D20 game (with a fair amount of crunch for people that are coming from video games/boardgames) but I'm interested in trying out other systems down the road, both as one-shots as well as campaigns. If you're only interested in playing Pathfinder, just note it in the form. Won't be much of a problem.
- Be down to maybe play some videogames/boardgames or to just chat outside of playing RPGs. The far-off goal would be to become a small group of friends.
- Be anywhere from 18 - 25 years old. If you're oldeyounger and are interested fill out the form anyway, It's not going to be much of a problem.
An important note Everyone is welcome. No matter your gender, sexuality, ethnicity, color of skin, mother tongue, species, planet of origin etc.
Tech We'll be using Discord for Voice/Video, scheduling, chats etc. and Foundry VTT (I've got a license, you don't have to pay anything) to actually play the game. Other tools we'll be using are free as well (Pathbuilder, Archive of Nethys etc.). If you have an at least somewhat stable internet connection you'll be golden.
End If you've made it through the entire wall of text, first of all: Thank you. If you're interested, fill out this quick form. I'll get back to everyone via Discord.

2023.06.06 20:29 Altruistic_Dark315 act fast, pls don't wait
i recently moved to riverside county from orange county and have had the worst time dealing with transfer of medical insurance. i've had this stomach pain for the past few months after i eat spice, cheese, or just anything in general. i'm unable to go to the dr here bc i dont have my insurance yet and when i go to urgent care they say they can't attend me bc i have insurance and i'm unable to pay out of pocket. so i decided to go back to oc to see if they could help me there but no luck since i'm still in the process. this pain had been getting worse and worse by the day. if i had known this was going to take forever i'd just waited to transfer insurance. this pain is no joke, and don't wish it upon my worst enemy. if anyone knows, what I can do to get seen by someone? or what i should do next bc i'm on the verge if a breakdown. if your body is telling you something is wrong don't wait. act fast! i've learned my lesson and wish to receive some sign of my insurance coming in.

2023.06.06 20:20 Joadzilla Oklahoma school board approves what would be the 1st taxpayer-funded religious school in US
https://apnews.com/article/religious-charter-school-oklahoma-be6e51ffcdaeb393c4be34a6f27feba4
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A state school board in Oklahoma voted Monday to approve what would be the first publicly funded religious school in the nation, despite a warning from the state’s attorney general that the decision was unconstitutional.
The Statewide Virtual Charter School Board voted 3-2 to approve the application by the Catholic Archdiocese of Oklahoma to establish the St. Isidore of Seville Virtual Charter School. The online public charter school would be open to students across the state in kindergarten through grade 12.
Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond had warned the board that such a decision clearly violated the Oklahoma Constitution.
“The approval of any publicly funded religious school is contrary to Oklahoma law and not in the best interest of taxpayers,” Drummond said in a statement shortly after the board’s vote. “It’s extremely disappointing that board members violated their oath in order to fund religious schools with our tax dollars. In doing so, these members have exposed themselves and the state to potential legal action that could be costly.”
The Archdiocese of Oklahoma said in the “vision and purpose of the organization” section of its application that: “The Catholic school participates in the evangelizing mission of the Church and is the privileged environment in which Christian education is carried out.”
Brett Farley, the executive director of the Catholic Conference of Oklahoma, said: “We are elated that the board agreed with our argument and application for the nation’s first religious charter school.”
Americans United for Separation of Church and State denounced the board’s approval.
“It’s hard to think of a clearer violation of the religious freedom of Oklahoma taxpayers and public-school families than the state establishing the nation’s first religious public charter school,” the group’s president and CEO Rachel Laser said in a statement. “This is a sea change for American democracy. Americans United will work with our Oklahoma and national partners to take all possible legal action to fight this decision and defend the separation of church and state that’s promised in both the Oklahoma and U.S. Constitutions.”
Oklahoma’s Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt, who earlier this year signed a bill that would give parents in the state a tax incentive to send their children to private schools, including religious schools, praised the board’s vote.
“This is a win for religious liberty and education freedom in our great state, and I am encouraged by these efforts to give parents more options when it comes to their child’s education,” Stitt said in a statement.

2023.06.06 20:17 SnooGoats1209 Payback for attacking a charity event
So I was not the one that came up with this idea but I’m a benefactor of the situation. Every year there is a charity softball game held in our county with rotating beneficiaries. This year all money raised was to support individuals in the county with cancer. Not to pay direct medical bills but to assist with all the other costs such as travel expenses, lost wages, etc.
There are lots of fundraising opportunities at this tournament but it’s just a one day tournament so it is strictly BYOB as those running the tournament aren’t going to get a liquor license. It’s run this way every year. The complex this tournament is hosted at has concessions that are run independently from the tournament.
This year the lady who runs concessions got something stuck up her ass or something because she got pissed off and called the cops saying that those running the tournament were selling beer without a license. This was not true but news of the incident spread pretty far throughout the county.
One of the guys we’ll call him Scott, who is one of the leaders for the tournament was understandably furious, and so this week there is another tournament being hosted at the same complex by a different organizer the hosting team has ties to this lady that called the cops.
So Scott is looking for a way to boycott this tournament but realizes that having his team skip the tournament will be generally ineffective. So he comes up with this brilliant plan to hit em where it hurts. Scott and his team who are sponsored by a local bar go to every other team in the tournament and inform them they each have a $100 credit at the sponsors bar and requests teams don’t hang out and buy beer at the tournament.
The bar sponsoring Scott’s team catches wind of this and decides to match the $100 giving each team a $200 tab to keep them from buying beer at the tournament.
TLDR: some bitch called the cops on a charity tournament who was doing nothing wrong, so a team bought beer for everyone else so they wouldn’t spend money at her tournament.
Edit: There was a great question. This tournament that we are boycotting is not a charity tournament. Profits from this tournament go to the team hosting the tournament and helps pay for tournament entry fees, hotel expenses for state, uniform expenses, etc. This lady is associated with the hosting team and the team’s manager is an out of touch dick that refuses to listen to the input from the rest of the league and just bullies his way as “commissioner”.
Whenever he goes to tournaments hosted by other teams he always without fail refused to pay the $2 gate fee saying that the commissioner doesn’t pay gate fees.
As a note. These tournaments are not league sponsored. Teams host them independently and within the county teams just make it a priority to generally support other county teams by participating in such tournaments.

2023.06.06 19:43 WorldAwayTweedy I'm in my first semester at a prestigious university. Students keep dropping out of their classes.
I first noticed it in my 100-level Political Science class.
Week one, the class was absolutely packed. There was energy. Debate. Discussion.
Five weeks in, and now it looks like nearly half the class is gone.
Mind you, Professor Weldon was not only an exceptional lecturer who explained concepts with passion and great insight - he was also a very easy grader. It made no sense to me that people were transferring out of his class. A couple of stragglers dropping off once they realize that Poli Sci isn’t for them? Sure. But this was ridiculous.
It happened in my other 100-level classes too: four weeks in, and a little over 40% of the class transferred out of English 101. Psychology? A lecture hall of roughly 200 people had been reduced to 120 or so.
I brought it up to my friends on campus who were also in their first year.
“People dropping classes in their first few weeks is totally normal,” replied Dinesh. “If I saw you sitting there in one of my classes with that dumb expression on your face, I’d drop it immediately too.”
Ha-ha. Very funny.
I turned to Mallory. She just shrugged and said “I don’t know man,” and went back to reading her book.
I’d known both of them for close to five years now. While none of us were in the same program (Dinesh was a robotics geek, Mallory was obsessed with history), we’d all been very close since high school. We were outcasts who clung to each other over our shared love of D&D, video game music, and badminton. After weeks of nervousness hoping all of us would get admission to this university, we were thrilled to find out that we’d all made it - our little trio would get to continue.
“Guess I’m just overthinking things, then. Don’t know why this isn’t sitting well with me,” I responded to both of them.
As we continued hanging out in the mezzanine, I couldn’t shake the fact that the campus, as a whole, looked much emptier than usual for a Monday.
–
As usual, I showed up early for the Poli Sci lecture. Yes, I am a tryhard, and yes, it’s important to me that I’m as close to a model student as possible in this new chapter of my life.
I watched as students shuffled into class. I also paid attention to Professor Weldon’s pre-class demeanor. He was his usual chipper self.
I took the opportunity to go up to him and ask a quick question.
“Hey, Professor Weldon…”
“You can call me Michael!”
“Right, hey… Michael, so obviously, we’re only like five weeks into the class and it’s my first year so I’m new to this whole thing… just wanted to confirm it’s normal for students to transfer out of their classes in the first few weeks? I’ve noticed a really big drop off in all of my classes including this on–”
“Totally normal! I mean, students are still figuring out what their interests are and what their overall class workload needs to be, so this is all very standard stuff. Great question though!”
Well, alrighty then. I think I just needed to hear it from a professor. I started questioning why the whole drop-off thing was even bothering me in the first place. I turned to go back to my seat.
“Don’t ever ask that again, alright?”
What?
I turned around. Did the prof just whisper what I thought he did?
He doubled down with a hushed response.
“I’m not gonna say anything about it, but a word of advice. For your own good, just listen to the material and study it. You really don’t wanna be asking people around here questions like that. Are we clear?”
All I could do was muster up a nod and walk back to my desk.
And with that, the lecture kicked off. As Professor Weldon discussed the various types of political systems around the world, I tried my best to forget the weird exchange I just had with him. To his credit, he defaulted to his regular sunny disposition throughout the presentation. I even answered a few questions he posed to the group, and he called on me as if nothing had even happened.
There were moments though, as I looked around the class, where I felt like I wasn’t alone in my… hypervigilance. Most of the students were tuned in or dozing off as usual, but I spotted a couple of faces who seemed… nervous? Like they were anxiously contemplating something?
In the midst of my surveying of the room, my eyes were drawn to a student sitting near me: a student who I remembered being quite outspoken in earlier weeks of the class, but who now seemed very reserved. From my vantage point, I could make out some of the notes he was scribbling in his notebook:
Follow up Q’s for the Dean:
- Has my drop out request been approved?
- Am I allowed to tell my family?
- Why are only some students notified about this?
- Does it emerge from Williams Hall?
As you can probably tell, these questions had absolutely nothing to do with the class.
I wrote them down in my journal. It was time to do some research.
–
After class, I invited Dinesh and Mallory to my (unfortunately) tiny dorm room for an evening conversation about everything that happened today.
While I waited for them to arrive, I spent my time doing online research to see if I could uncover anything that would shed light on the happenings - looking up things like “dropoff rates increasing” or “odd occurrences” at my university. I unfortunately wasn’t able to uncover much of anything - everything online was very boilerplate and sanitized.
The note - “Does it emerge from Williams Hall?” - from class earlier was the only thing that led to something of moderate substance. After searching through our school intranet, I realized that Williams Hall had been more or less designated as “off limits” for a number of years now. Outside of being the location of some of our final exams and student body meetings, the building had been cordoned off so that construction and renovations could be completed there.
Strangely enough, my research also showed me that prior to Williams Hall being sequestered, it used to be the hub for our Faculty of Arts, and was the former homebase for a lot of our major university clubs (theater, debate). These classes and clubs had all been moved into other buildings at the university over the last fifteen years or so.
As I continued digging, Dinesh arrived.
“Hey cuckoo bird,” he said as he came in. Before I could cut him off and tell him that this was kind of serious, he continued–
“So, uh, something happened actually and… maybe you’re not totally completely nuts.”
“Okay…,” I responded.
“So, we’re in week five right? Up until last week, my robotics class was basically at capacity - one or two stragglers dropped off in the first few weeks, but we were more or less a full group. Today, I shit you not, half the class was missing. I asked the prof, and he said they dropped out, and then he just changed the subject. I looked into it, and if you drop a class after week three, you’re required to pay a full refund. Why the fuck would anyone drop a class this late?”
I nodded. “It’s not just dropping classes and switching into other ones. I think it’s–”
“People dropping out of the university altogether,” Dinesh said, cutting me off. “Feels like there’s… less people in general now, at the campus.”
A rush of anxiety hit me as I realized that Mallory hadn’t responded to any of my texts today. I shook it off.
“So… something really weird happened in Poli Sci class today.”
–
I filled Dinesh in on everything. He was a bit incredulous, and didn’t totally believe the exchange I had with the instructor (his interpretation being that Professor Weldon was simply offended I was pointing out that people were dropping his class).
Nonetheless, he helped me with my research.
We scoured the web, searching up old Reddit posts, blog posts, discussion board conversations - anything at all that mentioned Williams Hall or bizarre events at the university. Aside from jaded former students calling out the difficult grading scale here, everything we came across was useless. But, we did notice a suspicious trend…
The year 2008 was very interesting for the school… in that there was no record of anything happening here that year. No campus events that took place here (or events that were hosted at the university in general, for that matter), no sports records, no graduation records, the list goes on. Nothing. Were there any professors that taught here in the year 2008? Not that we could find. A 2008 yearbook? Nope.
Dinesh and I went deeper and deeper down our rabbit hole, as I tried to push aside concerned thoughts of still not hearing back from Mallory. Dinesh mentioned that we should hone in on the year 2008 and try to use the Wayback Machine, in case that could help us find anything that might’ve been archived or deleted since. It took a little while, but we were able to dig up an old message board conversation, which I’ll share below.
Thread: So are we going to talk about that?

Title says all… June 7 at Williams Hall. won’t say more at risk of exposing myself, but I know there are lots of others who go to this school or went here, and were there when it happened. Why the actual fuck is no one talking about this?!?

That’s insane.
that no one has called the cops in this whole fucking time is insane.
also I swear to god they told some kids to get out of dodge before it happened. Knew a bunch of ppl who pced out a few weeks before. linguistics class with a certain hot professor was emptyyyyyyyy. No one else had a clue…
btw: Have any proof you were actually there? Also wtf is reality? Like that actually happened.

I’m sure people tried to call the cops.
I was the only guy that crawled to the door when it was all over. Apparently the rest of you just stood up and walked out. Maybe different reactions to shock for all of us?

heard about this through a friend, friend knew a guy who went there and said something really messed up was happening there and that the rumor mill was in full swing, like the *final exam* wasn’t normal, he tried to drop out but they wouldn’t let him(?), but left nyways. Apparently they found his body later.
I never believed him tho lol my friend says shit a lot of dumb shit when he’s blazing >_>

Thread locked due to inappropriate content.
We also found two other threads on a different message board, both created by the same person in 2008. The posts didn’t mention Williams Hall or the university explicitly, but they did mention the June 8th date. The post was of a mother claiming that her daughter randomly disappeared after going to the campus one day. The mother detailed how she didn’t buy the official story she was told by the police that her daughter simply “ran away”. She said that she was speaking with other parents in the area who were dealing with the same situation, and that she would provide updates as they came. Both threads were locked soon after posting.
As I jotted down the recurring date that was coming up in these threads (June 8th, 2008), I heard the door open.
Dinesh and I exhaled as Mallory entered. But that relief washed away quickly - something was off. Mallory was not herself. She’s always been quiet and reserved, preferring to be 'near people but not participating', but this time felt different.
We slowly started filling her in, trying to find a way to make our disconnected musings make sense. She listened as we talked about the student drop-offs in our classes and the overall campus feeling more empty, the peculiar goings-on in my Poli Sci class earlier in the day, and the archived message board posts we discovered during our online research. As we detailed our findings, we realized that we both sounded a little crazy… all of these things were, ultimately, random occurrences that we were stitching together like some sort of conspiracy theory.
But then Mallory spoke up.
“I had a meeting with the Dean earlier today. I’m going to drop out.”
–
The hours after Mallory said that were stressful. Obviously, Dinesh and I were shocked, confused, and most of all, deathly curious on what spurred this on for her.
Frustratingly, she wasn’t giving us too many details.
She asked us if the Dean had organized a meeting with either of us earlier in the week. When we both said no, she looked really, really miserable. Her reaction only added to our confusion.
We asked her if her reasons for dropping out were similar to what we were researching, and she begrudgingly said yes. When we asked her to elaborate, she said she was sworn to secrecy and couldn’t speak further.
“Why can’t you tell us what’s going on?!” I asked her, for probably the 30th time in our back-and-forth.
“I just can’t. If I say anything more…”
Her eyes trailed off, as if suggesting there was some terrible fate that would befall her if she elaborated further. Most of her answers to our following questions were just a simple “I’m sorry.”
Our one-sided conversation with Mallory continued for quite some time. Eventually, Dinesh asked the question that was lingering at the back of my mind. A question that seemed utterly ridiculous but also very necessary.
“Do you… do you think we should drop out too, maybe?”
It took a while for Mallory to respond. She chose her words carefully.
“I guess it’s random,” she started. “It’s random… which students they explain this whole thing to, and which ones they don’t. If they call upon you, you’re given the option to drop out. But if the Dean didn’t meet with you…”
“What the fuck does that even mean?!” Dinesh responded.
“It… means that I don’t think they’ll approve it. Even if you want to leave.”
Dinesh turned to me with a look of bafflement.
“I mean… we could just, like, leave though, right? Like… physically get up and leave? Like, how could they actually stop us from doing that?”
I saw Mallory’s eyes widen as Dinesh spoke those words to me. I knew that she wanted to say so much more to us, but she just couldn’t. The look in her eyes made it clear to me - us running now would be a mistake.
We struggled to get anything more out of Mallory. Eventually, I jumped in with a softball question that I prayed she’d answer. Referring to the research we were doing, I asked her plainly –
“If Dinesh and I keep digging, do you think we’ll be able to figure out what’s going on?”
She paused for a moment, and then nodded.
And that was all I needed.
“I think it’s time we go on an adventure, Dinesh,” I said.
“Goddamnit,” was his reply.
As we all left my dorm room, the three of us reluctantly gave each other a group hug. We’re not the mushy, touchy-feely types, so this was the first time we’d ever done anything this sentimental. It was awkward and not great, but everything felt too serious for us to not do it. As we let go of each other, I saw the first tears I’d ever seen Mallory cry.
“I”m really sorry I can’t say more. I’m really, really sorry,” she said. All good, Mal.
And with that, Dinesh and I headed out on a nighttime trek towards a certain building.
–
We made our way through the nearly pitch-black, empty courtyard, towards a bunch of construction signs and scaffolding that suggested we were getting closer and closer to Williams Hall. Dinesh, continuing his research on his phone, was chiming in with some “fun facts” –
“This building’s been under construction for like over a decade… how?”
“It’s probably just an excuse,” I responded.
Past a collection of tools and barriers, we arrived at a side door to the building. To my surprise, it wasn’t locked.
We entered, using our cell-phone flashlights to maneuver through the dark. Past the scent of old wood and peeling wallpaper, in a hallway that I can best describe as “rickety”, a word that I’m aware doesn’t make sense in this context but is the only one that comes to mind -
We arrived at the foyer. The ceiling stretched high above us. We maneuvered around a wet spot on the floor reflecting back at us (probably a leaky pipe somewhere) as our phone lights illuminated the dusty engraving above us that read Faculty of Arts.
“Which way do you think we should head?” I asked as our lights spun around the room, taking in every inch of the once-bustling building. The beam from my cell phone cut through the air, creating a glow that illuminated relics around us: various seating areas that seemed carelessly assembled, abstract art installations that were now covered in grime, and a collection of aged plaques adorning the walls, preserving the wide smiles of professors and administrators of years past.
A sign off in the distance that read Final Exam Room caught my attention. I motioned to Dinesh and he followed.
With our footsteps across the marble floor of yet another hallway that had seen better days, we approached our destination. Along the way, we encountered empty classrooms on both sides of the large corridor. Our brief peeks into all of the rooms revealed perfect preservation and consistency: desks and chairs neatly arranged, and the boards in each room having only one simple message written on them:
REMINDER: FINAL EXAM - JUNE 8TH
“Does every class do their final exam on the same day?” I asked Dinesh.
He didn’t reply. He was drawn to the large doors at the end of the hallway. I flashed my light at the engraving above them -
FINAL EXAM ROOM / STUDENT BODY MEETING ROOM
Huh. Weird combination if ever I’d seen one.
“I feel like coming here was beyond stupid,” Dinesh said.
“Yep. But we’re here now.”
Dinesh shined his phone light on a small sign posted up beside the doors.
Final Exam Room
Most Recent: June 8, 2008
Next Exam: June 8, 2023
Don’t forget to study!!!
We froze up. The obvious question for both of us was why a seemingly abandoned and under-construction building would have a note about an upcoming final exam scheduled for just a few days from now… an exam taking place only half-way through the semester, mind you.
“Do we go in?” Dinesh asked.
I wasn’t voted “most inquisitive” in high school superlatives… because it wasn’t a category. If it was, I would’ve secured it, no competition. This whole thing had been nagging at me from the first couple of weeks. I needed to know what was going on.
“Yes. We go in.”
We opened the doors, revealing a large room with hundreds of desks, all perfectly spaced out from each other. It was an exam, after all.
The hall stretched far and long. As we inched our way in, a pungent smell flooded my senses - like nothing I’d ever experienced before.
I pointed my phone light from desk to desk as I walked on by, realizing why the abandoned room felt so “lively” to me from the second we opened the door.
Nearly all of the desks were occupied by the headless and decayed bodies of students seated upright. Hands on the table. Coats on the chair behind them. Bags under desks.
Before the shock of the sight could overtake us and force us to get the fuck out of there, the sound of footsteps from the other end of the large exam hall caused us to redirect our phone lights to the source of the sound.
A figure emerged from the shadows, dressed in attire that was unmistakably formal. His hands were clasped behind him, a posture of composure and control. A face that I hadn’t seen since my first week orientation. The Dean?
He addressed us.
“Gentlemen - the exam isn’t for a few days now. I suggest you get back to studying.”

2023.06.06 19:32 RainbowUchiha Winds of Change (PSO2 x DDLC Pt 27)
What did I want out of this second life of mine?
I never really thought of what happens after I escape from my own dimension. The thrill of the hunt is what I’ve been living through my entire life. I’ve known nothing else. Living day in and day out without the thought of a plan, the thought of how to escape, how to manipulate anything and everything to my own advantage…… is strange.
This feeling of doing nothing is foreign to me. My fingers itched for a new plan, a new thrill, a new quarry to kill. And yet here lies the greatest irony I’ve ever known.
I was scared. Scared of making a mistake I can’t undo, terrified of making enemies that can erase me from existence without a second thought. I have no other option but to push forward, yet I can’t even take that first step.
.......if I were to stay here, would anyone care? I doubt it. I could stop right here and do nothing, and no one would care. But if I do decide to stop here, then how can I ever get closer to Cat? How can I repay her for everything she’s done? And even beyond that, how would I properly apologize to those I’ve wronged?
I want to see them again. I want to laugh with them, to make stupid poems and to rejoice over the smallest of things again.
Is it so much to ask for a normal life with those I care about?
….
I looked at the white bow with a hint of regret.
I’ve come to terms with what happened between me and the others. But it didn’t stop me from getting emotional just from looking at it. This sense of emptiness wasn’t going away no matter what I did. Hitsugi, Kohri, Al, and Enga were nice to hang out with, but they weren’t a replacement for Yuri, Sayori, Ivan, and Natsuki. I suppose no one could replace them, even if I were to search the entire galaxy. As I was busy sorting out my mental problems, the year slowly slipped by until I woke up and realized it was spring already. I looked in the mirror and touched my face.
It’s been close to, what, 8 months now since I’ve been here? Almost a full year……
What did I even do with this year I’ve been given? I can’t even remember anything from the past 8 months, much less yesterday. It’s surprising that I can remember names, but not individual days. I think it’s because after awhile the days began to bleed into each other. Having a schedule made the days monotonous and boring, not to mention I know everything the school has to offer already. I guess that’s why Hitsugi gave me the option of living a normal life. If I continued just like this, I’m sure I’d eventually land a good paying job. With enough time, I suppose I’d forget about them as I drown myself in work and living a life of lies. After all, having a normal life is a luxury for someone like me. But no matter how much I try to convince myself that I could drop everything and abandon them, all it took was one look at the white bow and that conviction crumbles to dust.
I’m pathetic, aren’t I Sayori? I can’t even make a simple decision without thinking of you…..
I could feel each and every single day slowly crawl by me as I tried to gather up the courage to make my decision. Just like how Yuri would sneak away and hide somewhere by herself, I found myself doing the same thing. An empty classroom, a hidden bathroom, anywhere that was quiet and had no one around, these were the places I gravitated towards. The silence was agonizing but calming at the same time, a testament to how split I was on every decision I made these days. Without anyone to lean on, this new world felt cold and cruel.
It's like everyone around me likes the concept of me rather than who I really am. Like I'm some sort of collectible nothing that only exists for the sole purpose of being collected.
Its moments like this that make me deeply regret my actions. Sitting alone on this bench, the hot sun burning my retina's red, the feeling of being so..... alone.
At least until Hitugi interrupted my brooding session and sat down with me.
H: Hi there! M: ....hello Hitsugi. H: Did you finish this week's homework assignment? M: Yes. H: What?! How?! M: Did you finish the assignment? H: Ah, well......
I opened my eyes and sat up straight on the bench, my eyes struggling to readjust to the bright glare of the sunlight.
H: I...... was wondering how you're doing. You know, like..... in general. M: Hmm? Where did this sudden sympathy come from? H: I know I'm supposed to keep an eye on you, but I feel like I haven't been doing that lately. I'm sorry for being a bad friend..... M: What are you talking about? H: Its about my oath to protect you!
I looked over to see Hitsugi was looking right back at me, her usual determined eyes drilling a hole into my head.
H: I never got to ask you personally how you felt after you came here. M: What? Why does that matter? H: Because...... Cat told me who you are, but I didn't get it until now.
Hitsugi finally broke her stare and took a deep breath.
H: She said you needed some time to think, but I had to guide you along the way. I stayed away, thinking that you didn't really need my input on anything because for the most part you didn't need my help. You managed to glide you way past everything this life has given you so far, and I was impressed.
M: ....ok?
H: But I've just now noticed how often you shy away from social interactions. Sure, you talk to them once, but after that? You tend to ignore them. Kohri felt like you were leaving her even though you two talk every now and then.
M: .....I didn't know you got a degree in psychology overnight Hitsugi.
I was trying to steer her away from this absurdly strange topic she was on, but Hitsugi kept going.
H: Right now, you remind me of what Cat did for us. She would save the day, then leave without a trace. She didn't want to bond with us, much like how you don't want to bond with me. Is it because of what happened to you?
Why does she remind me of Sayori right now?
H: I get that its a harsh topic, but what else could be weighing so heavily on your mind? Monika-
M: -Hitsugi. Its ok.
I put on a brave smile and tried to get her off of my back.
M: I'll be alright. My problems aren't that serious.
H: I can help with them regardless! No one should bear the burden all by themself, so......
Hitsugi put her hand over my wrist and softly said, ".....let me help you."
I didn't know what to tell her. What can I tell her? The fact that I'm a monster who killed so many people? Or how I killed Cat? Or...... the fact that I shouldn't be here in the first place? My world tilted to the side and I found myself leaning on Hitsugi. As I tried to gather my thoughts, Hitsugi put her arm around me and pulled me close.
H: Kohri and I went through so much together. At this point nothing can faze me Monika. After all, Cat pulled any semblance of "normal" out of me and threw it out the window. I'm sure she did the same to you, huh?
M: ......yeah. She did.
Sitting here curled up next to someone was comforting. It reminded me of when Sayori and I hugged each other in that empty classroom. Hitsugi went silent as I finally gathered up the courage to tell her everything.
M: .......alright Hitsugi. I'll tell you what's been bothering me.
H: I'm all ears.
.......
The sun was getting close to the horizon when I was finally done telling her.
I was fully expecting her to get angry at me, but she did nothing. Her jacket was stained with some tear marks from my crying sessions, but she coaxed me into telling her all of it. At the end of the story, she simply held onto me.
M: ......and that's why I've been so..... hesitant on making new friends. What if I end up repeating my mistakes? H: You won't. I'll make sure of it. M: ......how? H: Simple. I'll cut you with my blade, as many times as it takes, until you come back to your senses. After all, you only killed them because of your unfortunate circumstances, right? M: ......yeah. H: Now that you aren't there anymore, there's no reason to keep thinking that you'll return to your habits because you're here now. I will personally make sure you don't become a psychopath, ok? M: ....thanks Hitsugi.
I slowly sat back up. Hitsugi also backed away and stretched her arms out.
H: You aren't alone anymore. Not now, not ever. So cmon-
Hitsugi stood up and offered her hand out to me.
H: -lets go get something to eat.
For the first time, I finally took her hand.
......
That talk finally eased some of my worries.
No, it eased a majority of my worries. After our talk, Hitsugi remained the same person, but I felt so much closer to her. If anything, I felt ashamed that it took 8 months for us to be like this. If Hitsugi felt bad for not helping me, then I felt worse for not noticing her extended hand. I sighed and tried not to think about it too much as I trudged through the rest of the school year. Day by day the rest of the year slowly burned away, but with each passing day that decision became easier and easier to make. Simply put, I wouldn’t know inner peace until I talked to everyone one last time. The year finally came to a close, and I was more than ready to present my answer. Hitsugi brought me back to the council room and shut the door behind me.
H: You know why you’re here, right? M: Yep. H: So what’s the verdict? M: ……I’ll do it. Give me a pin.
I could see Hitsugi’s eyebrows shoot up in surprise as I made the decision.
H: Wait, seriously? You aren't joking, right? M: No, why would I? H: So..... you are serious about this.
I nodded, and she smiled. “Ok, give me a second…..”
We sat in silence until something spawned right in front of me. It clattered on the desk, and I slowly picked it up.
“That’s your pin. Once you put it on, it’ll automatically give me the rest of the data I need to finish your application.”
I put it on, and immediately felt a warm tingly feeling spread throughout my body. It wasn’t painful though, and the feeling disappeared as soon as it arrived.
H: Welcome to Mother Corp Monika! M: Nothing has changed…. H: For now. Once Enga finalizes the application, you’ll come with both of us. M: So what can we do today? H: The only thing we can do is wait until tomorrow, which is your first day with Mother Corp. Enga can show you what to do, but for now let’s part ways. I gotta check on Al, make sure Kohri isn’t doing something weird to him. M: Ok. Tomorrow it is.
I left the building feeling unsure of what I just signed up for but knowing that this was my first real step in this new life of mine. To where, I didn’t know, but it’s better than leaving my club mates in the dust. As I laid down, the white bow didn’t bring me regret, but rather it brought me a quiet sense of determination.
Almost like Sayori approved of my decision.
…..
“……where am I?”
. . .
“I can’t move. Wait, I can’t see either?! Something is on my face!”
. . .
“IVAN! MONIKA! YURI! ANYONE?! I CAN’T MOVE!”
. . .
“HELLLLLLP ME!”
. . .
“Don’t leave me here…..”

Some coworkers at my next job recommended I get a certification in Salesforce Marketing Cloud as something to do during COVID’s early month. The company paid. It helped me get into the marketing field. My first marketing job was $50k/yr. On my second with about a year and a half of experience. I want to change fields but do not have the experience necessary to do so. If I stay at my company I may have the opportunity to try the field I want within a year or two. My work-life balance is amazing so I’m sticking with it.

Monday:
- 11 a.m. Slept in since it’s a holiday and enjoyed a delicious breakfast with my boyfriend (J) of some chocolate chip banana bread my mom made. We don’t tend to spend weeknights at each other’s places, so we love our weekends together.
- 12:15 p.m. J heads back to his place to meal prep for the week and do chores. Always the lover of a good cheap find, I went to Goodwill for a 25% off sale. I purchased an Adidas duffel bag, a t-shirt, some unused candles, and an expansion pack for a card game my friends and I enjoy. $35
- 1:30 p.m. One of my core lunchtime necessities as of late is hummus. But specifically the Target brand original. Plus it’s cheap. I also needed other basic necessities: toothpaste, tissues, laundry items, and a prebiotic powder I take daily to control IBS symptoms. I stock up once every two months so this was a big trip. Target Circle had a coupon for one of the laundry items and $10 off on a purchase of $70 or more. $111.25
- 2:15 p.m. Back home laden with one Target bag worth over $100, I crack open my new container of hummus and make a turkey wrap with a side of carrots, an apple, and some veggie straws. I have this every day and it never gets old.
- 3:45 p.m. Watch an episode of Maid on Netflix before going to play video games online with J.
- 7:30 p.m. J and our friends hop online to play a multiplayer game for an hour or two before I jump off to eat. Chicken sausage, green beans, carrots, egg white wrap, and rice. My favorite dinner at the moment!
- 10:30 p.m. In bed and decided to start reading the monthly book club picked by J. Couldn’t put it down for a while but was asleep by 12:30 a.m.
- Total spent: $146.25
Tuesday:
- 7:45 a.m. Alarm goes off. Work after a 4 day weekend. Yay. Out of bed by 8:15. I work from home so I log in, check my emails, and go grab breakfast. I take my morning probiotics, vitamin D, and allergy medicine as a side to my morning blueberry bagel. After a slow morning online, I hit the exercise bike for a quick 15 minute ride. Shower, then a meeting.
- 11 a.m. Whip up my normal lunch of: turkey wrap, carrots, hummus, apple, and veggie straws. After lunch, I grab a couple of Reese’s Thins. Not as good, I know.
- 2 p.m. Work is slow today so I hop on my PC and play a few missions in my current favorite game. I have an oil change at 2 and groceries to pick up from Walmart after. At the oil change, they tell me I need to replace my wiper blades and cabin air filter. I can do that on my own and purchase the parts needed on Amazon. Car & groceries: $172.92
- 3:15 p.m. After my appointment, I hop back into my game and see some items from my Steam wishlist are on sale. I grab them as I’ve been wanting to get them for a while. $24.04
- 4 p.m. There’s a new Spider-Man movie coming out this week that I really want to see. Mentioned to J that we should go but tickets were a bit pricey since it was opening night. He offered to pay.
- 6:30 p.m. Same as the night before. I’m out of chicken sausage now and forgot to add them to my order this morning. Oh well.
- 8:30 p.m. Watch another episode of Maid while I eat. After the temperature cooled down for the night, I went for an hour-long walk around a nearby small lake. Get hissed at by geese and dive-bombed by a red-winged blackbird. Nature is beautiful.
- 11 p.m. In bed reading J’s book club pick. It’s right up my alley and this will be a breeze to get through. Asleep by 12:45 a.m.
- Total spent: $196.96
Wednesday:
- 7:45 a.m. My alarm goes off and I once again snooze until around 8:15. One of my cats makes her way into my room and bugs me until I get up. Turn on my work computer and go start my morning with a blueberry bagel and my medicine cocktail.
- 8:30 a.m. I jump in the shower (hair wash day) and get cleaned up to head to my monthly chiropractor appointment.
- 10:15 a.m. I pulled a muscle in my back just over a year ago and enjoyed my chiropractor visits, so I now do them monthly. This is the last time I’m going to prepay and switch to as-needed. Paid through the end of the year.
- 10:45 a.m. My chiropractor is next to a used-clothing store so I swing in. Attending a wedding at the end of June so I’ve been looking for an outfit. I don’t find one. I find others. Also a shirt for J. Everything I bought was half off! Nothing was over $7. Grabbed 4 things. $21.25
- 4:30 p.m. It was a very slow day at work, just tested some emails, so I spent a majority of the day gaming. My job goes through heavy phases and I’m in a big lull. I sign off for the day and head to the climbing gym.
- 6 p.m. After a short climbing session, my friend M and I go to an outdoor store to buy climbing harnesses. I have one but it doesn’t fit right and he has been renting one. We find the ones we want in store but see they’re cheaper online. He has a store membership so he pays and I Venmo him back. I’m selling my old harness (only used for 2 months) to another climbing friend for $50. Almost breaking even! $3.27
- 7:15 p.m. I arrive back home and make a sandwich for dinner. Cooking seems like too much work tonight. J is at a work event tonight, otherwise we usually climb together than cook a meal after. While eating, I turn on Into the Spiderverse to prepare for the second one tomorrow. It’s still too hot for a walk so I skip that tonight.
- 9:45 p.m. After the movie I watch some Good Mythical Morning episodes I’m behind on and munch on some mini marshmallows for dessert. I prep my camera equipment for an event I’m shooting tomorrow for work. As I get ready for bed I listen to an audiobook. I read for book club for the rest of the night. Asleep around 11:30.
- Total: $24.52
Thursday:
- 7 a.m. I get up early as I need to be at a work event by 10 a.m. I’m photographing it so I won’t have to work too hard. I say now.
- 9:15 a.m. I head out to be to the event a few minutes early to find street parking. The event lasts until 2, so I pay for 4 hours of parking. I could submit for reimbursement but eh, it's not much. $2.50
- 1:45 p.m. I did end up fully participating as well as photographing. We wrap early after sweating in the sun weeding and mulching for a low-income apartment complex. I head home to shower, nap, and relax. Work gave those who volunteered the rest of the afternoon off.
- 5:15 p.m. J arrives at my place after work and we head to see the new Spiderman movie. I pack us some homemade popcorn and various other treats from the pantry. Movie was 10000/10. Go see it. I knew about 45 seconds in that I wanted to see it again. Did not disappoint.
- 8:30 p.m. Despite the snacks, we are still hungry after the movie and decide to go to a local Japanese place. We go in to order and J graciously pays. When we go out, he tends to pay as I typically buy and make a fair amount of our home cooked meals. At first we were given the wrong order, which we realized when we got home. He headed back to get the right order so we got two sets of meals for the price of one! We had opened the first order to see if we liked it enough to deal but it wasn’t enough food for the both of us.
- 12:30 a.m. J stays over and we get to sleep just after midnight.
- Total: $2.50
Friday:
- 8 a.m. J’s alarm goes off but I sleep through it so he has to wake me up. We lounge in bed until his first meeting at 8:30. After his meeting, he leaves for work and I log on to my own. I have no meetings today and a very generous policy where we get Friday afternoon’s off during the summer. I plug away at some small projects I’ve put off for most of the week and log off around 1.
- 1:30 p.m. I went to check the mail as I had 3 deliveries coming today. All arrived! My internet bill came too which I usually throw away, but had a feeling I should open this one. I was right. My bill had gone up $10 because of some new policy I didn’t know about because I hadn’t read any of the last few months of bills. I updated what I needed to to get the price lowered again and spend the next hour researching a new provider but I’m stuck for my area. Ended up purchasing a router so I can return the company’s one and save some more money monthly. $96.72
- 3 p.m. I get a random email that a medical visit from over a year ago wasn’t going to be covered by insurance. I log into my account and see if it’s real, which it is, so unfortunately I pay for it. I don’t remember what the visit was for but insurance covered $0 of it. After I update my spending tracker. Thankfully it was a 3 paycheck month so I’m more than fine. Had a lot of surprising big expenses come up in May. $89
- 5:45 p.m. I leave for J’s so we can eat dinner together and watch an episode of the Last of Us (yeah, we’re a bit late on this one) before we head to the climbing gym.
- 10:30 p.m. We get back from climbing and have a craving for chocolate chip cookies. I help J make a small batch and we eat a few each. We watch the Last of Us and I fall asleep on the couch. Bed time at 12:30 a.m.
- Total: $185.72
Saturday:
- 9:45 a.m. I slept like the dead. J wakes me up as he’s on his way out to go have brunch with a friend. I slowly wake up and leave his place soon after to get my house cleaned before some friends come over.
- 12:30 p.m. J comes to my place after his brunch to help me clean before a double date with my high school best friend and her fiancé.
- 2:45 p.m. They arrive! We chat and play some card games. They leave around 5, so J and I dive back into Last of Us.
- 6:30 p.m. I reheated some leftover chicken from Thursday, frozen green beans, potatoes, carrots, and rice for dinner. We finish the season and discuss the show for a while before he heads home.
- 12:30 a.m. Bedtime!
- Total: $0
Sunday:
- 8:30 a.m. J and I are going to look at some houses today so in my excitement I don’t sleep very well. I get up after laying in bed for a few hours to get ready and go pick him up.
- 10:30 a.m. Open house tour commence! We see 4 houses before lunch time.
- 12:30 p.m. We decided to go to a local chicken restaurant and more than ate our fill. J paid. I dropped him back at his apartment and headed to visit my parents for the afternoon.
- 2 p.m. I arrive at my mom’s house and she dyes my hair. We used a bottle of dye I had purchased a few months back.
- 5 p.m. Game time! I hop on with J and his friends and we complete some missions in our go-to game. I stop to grab a quick snack soon after, still pretty full from our big lunch.
- 8 p.m. J hops off for a break and I do as well. He calls me right after leaving the main call and we chat about our week ahead and hang out while we do our own things.
- 9 p.m. I’m feeling very tired after not sleeping well this weekend so I go to get ready for bed. I stay up on TikTok for a while and get to sleep around 11.

This is NOT a typical week! Lots of medium things that added up happening at the end/beginning of a new month. That's life! When I buy things I use regularly, I often buy 2-3 more than I need at a time so that I don't have to get them as often. Unless J and I are together, I don't go out to eat to save money. I'm very lucky to work from home and save a lot of expenses that way. My job is pretty low-key and quiet most of the day, so I didn't detail too much about it this week.
Edit: I forgot to mention above that J and I are not buying a house together, I'm helping him look. We really go to open houses for fun right now as he isn't thinking about buying until late this yeaearly next year. Interest rates are insane right now! I have a super low rate and am not looking forward to losing out on it some day.
