AI art and writing, which I fully believe as very, great tools.
AI art helps fill in the blanks and saves some time for artists like backgrounds and stuff. And writing, writer's block gets practically eliminated.
These are very great inventions and I for one cannot wait to develop my artistic sense good enough to allow me to utilize these things as well.
Although, going back to a previous post I've made, translations are still a far cry. Well, a far cry last I've checked. Hopefully it got to be a bit better. I for one am still for human translators but knowing the integrity issue for many official translators I understand if that one would come to replace them. I do wonder how the scanlation community would handle that but eh, I'll just see if HobbyDrama has anything for that in the near future.
So back to my main topic, AI Art and Writing. Very big pushback from the art community and the writing community, which I take is very liberal and filled to the brim with the woke. Them "LGBT romance is always a new hope while straight romance is a toxic mess with relationships beyond salvation" people.
And my question was that is they against these new tech because of the fact that they're gonna be out of a job or livelihood? Like I get the threat but if these writer's striking can have their jobs be done by an AI that's not even, I'd like to say useable but I am certain some peeps are making their scripts with AI and a touch of human touch as well, but we'll it's not really being used by the bigwigs...yet. And the fact that that option is available is a threat to them and they just don't seem all that talented then. That's me two cents for these writers. I've experienced better stories on the comment sections of writing prompts than what these folks striking were putting out.
But I also understand that having one's worked be treated like just cheap labor is wack. Pulp writers were paid lowly wages. If anything, it's the Japanese animators who needs to get workers rights not these Starbucks drinking car toting living in California peeps. If they at least had the work ethic and integrity of the Japanese.
So next is Art. Elitism I say. One can argue that it's stealing art but all art is stealing. Techniques, processes, ideas. Tarantino once said, "Great artists steal" and that's something I agree with. References for the sake of reference sucks but if it is done with intent to move the plot forward, yes.
Although I'm on the fence of AI art should join art contests and such but that is beyond me.
As a consumer, I enjoy a good story, some good art and maybe a bit of variety. Something that I really hope this tech would bring out to people.

A few months ago I picked up a 2023 k5 GT-Line and I’ve put around 1500 miles on it. For some reason I’m only getting a little over 19 miles per gallon. When I see other people getting 25+. I almost always drive it in the city and in normal mode. Anyone have an idea of why I might be getting worse mileage?

So I (18m) I’ve never asked for a raise before because my old boss was terrible and has a bad reputation around town, basically you were almost always wrong. Like I got a angry text from my manager about a mess made a day that I was off shift… and after I mentioned I didn’t work that day my hours docked
3 years of torment later I find new work at Canadian tire (Canadian dept store) and so far I’m outstanding because people treat me better than at the old place I used to work and I’ve been in better moods I’ve willingly learned valuable skills I can do a few different places and have few knowledge on all of them my customer service is above average and the most valuable. I’m the only one in the store for 3 years who has knowledge on bikes. Which sure fine not everyone cares for that. But we still took repair orders there’s bikes in there ranging from the year 2019 to 2023 about 10 total and on top of that repair requests were incredibly vague like there’s a BMX there that says “rounded bolt hard to pull” a little later i now pretty much manage all of the bikes repair and new. I order new parts for bikes, do tune ups on them,tire replacement,derailer replacement and at times i repaired bikes that were wrote off or marked as “dispose at store”
Now I worked here 6 months I’m paid 16$ no raise how much could I ask for that’s reasonable I don’t want my boss to pull me from that shop to avoid a raise he is a nice guy but I like working there

Bitcoin 101: A Quick Introduction to Bitcoin and How Trading Works

I [21F] am cutting off my friend [22F] after a disaster of a vacation.
First off I know this will sound incredibly one sided, but my vacation was ruined by a friend who I suspect has some mental health problem that she refuses to address.
The vacation was planned and discussed on what we wanted to do for the week. It had a mix of mine and her ideas which were agreed to. My ideas when it came to the holiday were basically pushed out and her ideas were at the forefront. If I even tried to maybe suggest something else or anything that was my suggestion to do she would throw a tantrum. She threw a tantrum when I finally got chance to do something I wanted to do. This was on the last full day too.
She left me by myself in a bar to go hiking at night. I suggested going in the day time as we were in party/going out attire with sandals and the hiking was obviously on a huge incline. Not only that I thought it was a bad idea her going by self in the dark. I suggested walking in the day with me so I could see the landmark she wanted to go to too. She refused and walked quickly off and then told me to “find a bar” and she’ll meet me there. I found one and bought a cocktail and there were people that made me feel a little uneasy. I had one guy check up on me and asked why my friend had left me alone and if anybody made me feel uncomfortable to speak to him. We planned to eat that night. After half an hour she came back from her hiking and then threw another tantrum and said she wasn’t going to eat, I shouldn’t of been drinking (she was like this the entire trip) and we were going back to the hotel. I didn’t eat until 7am the next morning.
She had a huge issue with me having one alcoholic beverage. We were on vacation I don’t drink much anyway. She full on judged me for drinking and then the next night downed an entire bottle of wine and got wasted. It was okay for her to drink and get wasted, but not okay for me to stay in town and have one drink.
She kept calling people in our hotel room and locking me out to call them. This was for over 2 hours.
She wanted to get back to call someone on our last evening out and when I said I wanted to go to a bar for one drink for a final evening drink she full on argued with me in a street full of people who looked at her in disgust and she gaslit me in front of everyone. She tried to twist the narrative that I was horrible and I shouldn’t criticise her and how she doesn’t drink (she downed a bottle of wine the night previous) and so we weren’t to drink as it wasn’t a good idea. She went to bed early after going back to the hotel and I stayed in the hotel lobby angry at the audacity. I kept up to date with family of this vacation whilst she slept.
She then criticised the fact I do CBT for my anxiety and I should just “love myself and fix myself instead of asking others to fix me” She also said she “fixes herself and doesn’t need to be fixed” (haha clearly)
She also casually threw the N word around multiple times by singing songs that contain the slur. I was disgusted. She didn’t see an issue with it. She’s not of any black ethnicity either.
When we arrived home she accused my dad’s friend (an airport transfer taxi driver) of probably leaving us stranded at the airport and how he wasn’t trustworthy to her. He picked us up alright and got us home safe. Made her look like a fool
For these reasons. The N word is pretty standard to cut someone off in my eyes alone, but please pick your travel partner wisely.

i dont know where else i could ask for it but i think here are the people who have more insight about such topics.
i am not a coder, but also learned a little bit about phyton and scripting for parameter changing etc. Not that easy for me. I had also tried different models and offline tools.
i would like to play an interaktive story, like what you can do in every chatgpt but with more memory. The thing is, if i define 4-5 charakters and the story is going on, the chat begins to forget what happend before. I fixed it, with some prompts like "tell me what I need to note in a progress report", so i can take those updates, if i need it later in the story and give it to the AI again.
now i saw, that in the android app store is a tool called ChatJoy. It seems that it is a story telling app, but i dont know if and how they fixed this issue. Also i would like to use it at my PC and not on my cellphone. I dont need a cloud App from somewhere, locally would be the best.
Is there maybe a way, to enhance the memory of the AI in an offline chat? i mean, the chat history is still available, the AI have only to check it out or have to do a shorter update bullet points like what i am doing manually. I know that some app developer like replika an co. have exactly the same issues about memory, but in such apps are significant more informations bc the people are endless chatting with the chatbot about thousand things. I think for a book like story, it is not that much of information what the AI has to save for further use.

I just got GMod on my M1 Macbook Air (2020, running Monterey). I opted into the beta that would let me use it, added the -nochromium command on startup as other people have recommended for Macs, and got past the loading screen fine. However, what I assume is the title screen isn't showing any text, buttons, or icons. Instead, it just shows a video background of different images from the game. I looked around a little for answers, but couldn't find any, and I was wondering if anyone here has any tips.

After some careful consideration, I’ve begun thinking it’s time to replace my therapist. I don’t think she is a terrible person but something in my gut is telling me it’s time to look for a new therapist. We get along for the most part especially culturally. We are both Latinas and this is the first time I have experienced a unique relationship with a therapist where I don’t feel judged culturally and I’m met with understanding. Not every session is tears and snot filled tissues, sometimes it’s me showing her via telehealth how my pets and plants are doing and even what I’m wearing to my cousin’s wedding. But, sometimes she’ll do things like bring up how it’s hard for her to quit nicotine. Another thing that bothers me during our sessions is when I’m expressing my feelings about a situation and she asks how I feel about it. I tell her how I feel and she always without hesitation asks “And what else?” or “And?”. After her questioning I’m at a loss for words because I thought I had conveyed how I felt truthfully. I feel like I’m pressured to add on more information that isn’t necessarily truthful but in an effort to appease her. When recently started doing inner child integration therapy and at the end of the 1st session we did it I felt very vulnerable and I’m pretty sure I had a night terror which I haven’t experienced since I was a kid. Another thing that bothers me is when I tried to dissect a past relationship and she plainly said “people like that never change and you need to move on.” and then proceeded to blow past how I felt about I felt about it. After typing all this out I’m realizing how unwell this makes me feel and I’m realizing how little progress I’ve made with her since February. I’m worried that I’m overthinking it but at the same time I also believe my concerns are valid.

To start off, I’m not entirely sure if this should be Hobby History or drama. I’m gonna need to give a lot of context to really explain the drama, and the drama is admittedly relatively minor. Apologies if this is an issue. I’m going to summarize the lore entries I link but I would strongly advise readers to read them both to get a better understanding but also because I just think they are some really enjoyable writing.
As the title says, this post is about the video game franchise Destiny developed by Bungie, best known as the original developers of another sci-fi FPS franchise, Halo. Bungie has always been known for their excellent talent at making fundamentally fun to play FPS games and Destiny is no exception, but this isn’t about gameplay, but instead about the story and universe of the game, specifically a bit of a conflict regarding specific characters and forces.
The Premise of the Game
Sometime in the not-so-distant future a mysterious and colossal white orb enters our solar system. Humanity dubs it The Traveler, and it’s arrival heralds an unprecedented Golden Age of peace and prosperity that lasts for centuries. However, the Traveler has enemies, a force identified only as Darkness, and those that serve it, that have pursued it across the stars and eventually arrive in Sol, bringing about the Collapse. Humanity is devastated and The Traveler is wounded. In its last conscious moments, it creates an army of small drones called Ghosts, each capable of selecting a deceased person and resurrecting them as a warrior armed with powerful abilities born of the Light. These warriors would eventually come to be known as Guardians, and with their help humanity barely survives the coming centuries and by the time of the game there is only a single safe city left on Earth.
If you’re thinking that all sounds a little vague well, you’re not alone and unfortunately there wasn’t a lot of elaboration to be found in the original version of the first Destiny. And of all the questions people asked, one of the big ones was “What is the Darkness?” What was our great enemy, the source of the downfall of the human race? And maybe most importantly, why did it do it? Like I said, not a lot of answers to be found at first, but there was…something.
The Darkness?
Vanilla Destiny
Ghost Fragment: Darkness 3 It was a Grimoire card, or a text entry you had to access via Bungie’s website out of game after finding the requisite collectible in game. It is a journal entry from the heretical Guardian Toland detailing a philosophy of survival of the fittest taken to the absolute extreme. That everything is constantly competing to even exist, and that that competition will continue to escalate until something is so good at it that it will extinguish all other competition, before they can even begin to compete, and anything that comes to exist will do so only by its consent. This concept is important, and you should remember it. If you’re thinking this piece seems like it should have more context it didn’t really have much.
Destiny: The Taken King
The next really big piece of evidence comes in the third expansion to Destiny, The Taken King, in the form of the Books of Sorrow. Part history and part holy scripture, they detail the origin of the Hive, one of the four main enemy species. A very long time ago, they were known as the Krill and struggled with short, difficult lives. When a king of the Krill was overthrown, three of his children fled and were drawn deep into the oceans of the gas giant the Krill lived on. In the depths they discovered immense worms who offered them a pact: take their offspring into their bodies and gain eternal life and great power, but they must ensure to feed their worm with conquest and slaughter or be devoured from the inside. They accepted this deal and thus the Hive were born.
The Books of Sorrow give us two main contributions to better understanding The Darkness.
First off, it gives us further elaboration on this aforementioned philosophy of extreme natural selection, and a name for it: The Sword Logic. It is the guiding principle of the worms and thus the Hive, that only that which can defend it’s existence deserves to exist, and so it is the duty of the Hive to try their best to kill everything in pursuit of whittling the universe down to a perfect state, which is now given the moniker of the Final Shape.
Secondly, Oryx, king of the Hive, speaks with something he identifies as The Darkness in XXXII: Majestic. Majestic. . It gives its own explanation of the brutal ideology of the Sword Logic and affirms why the Hive’s crusade against all life is right and required, but it interestingly takes an oddly personal and familiar tone.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep
The next big piece of information towards The Darkness and the identity of the true antagonist of the Destiny franchise comes years later, in the fourth expansion of the sequel Destiny 2. A long wait, I know. But more than worth it for Unveiling
Unveiling’s name is no accident, it truly does lift the veil of uncertainty in many ways around The Darkness. Or at least so we thought at the time.
It’s worth noting that the in-universe source of Unveiling is communications from a Darkness aligned artifact, which will be relevant later. I promise.
Unveiling is a collection of writings allegedly from an entity referring to itself as The Winnower. It tells a creation parable of sorts, that before anything else existed there was a garden (sort of) and in that garden there was a Gardener and a Winnower, and they played a game (sort of). The game is essentially Conway’s Game of Life which to give a brief description, is a simulation where you have a set of tiles and each tile is either alive or dead. Every turn, tiles change from alive to dead or dead to alive based on the state of the other tiles adjacent to them. It’s a real thing considered a decent really simple simulation of life.
This cosmic version of it represented all of existence, and the Gardener would plant the flowers that represented life and the Winnower would cull the ones that meant to die under the rules. They played this game countless times but every time it ended in the same result: a specific, unending pattern which would always outcompete all others and dominate the game. The Gardener did not like this and considered it boring and even unfair. The Winnower disagreed, opining that it was natural and beautiful to see something succeed because it was better. When the Gardener decided to propose additions to the rules to encourage complexity, the Winnower objected strongly, and they fought. Unable to resolve this difference, the garden was destroyed and they created the real universe and entered it as players in the “game.”
The Winnower was at the time strongly believed to be The Darkness given the story it tells and the congruency of its tone and storytelling style with the entity that spoke with Oryx. However, hints of the other being that would confuse this were also present in Shadowkeep. The final cutscene of the campaign featured an unknown being, who assumed the appearance of the player character, confidently declare “We are your salvation.” . This was the first possible appearance of The Darkness as a real, voiced character actually in the video game. It was unclear but most assumed this was the Winnower here (and that the Winnower was The Darkness) and more or less ignored the odd quirk of this being referring to themselves exclusively as “we” as opposed to the Winnower’s consistent “I.” Again, it would be several years before we received more information about this, and we learned of The Voice in the Darkness.
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen
The sixth expansion of Destiny 2, it introduced the concept of The Witness, a being previously hinted to as The Voice in the Darkness, formally introduced in this cutscene that plays at the end of the campaign. Note the usage of we also present here. This is a consistent trait of The Witness and they have yet to ever use the term I. We can also note The Witness appears to have a desire to totally exterminate life.
The “Drama”
The Witness is seemingly the true main antagonist of Destiny, being established as responsible for the Collapse, the creation of the Hive, and other events. This leaves lore aficionados with a real dilemma on our hands. How does this gel with the previous depictions of The Darkness, namely The Winnower? Not only do The Witness and Winnower speak and behave differently, their fundamental ideologies even feel different. The Witness seems far less interested in the purity of competition and survival of the fittest than in outright extermination. The Winnower would never express a desire for “no more life” just for life to be forced to earn its existence.
There are three main camps of answers to this question.
First: The Winnower is not real
This position holds that Unveiling is a fiction, created and distributed by The Witness and that Darkness is in fact a thoughtless force of the universe wielded by The Witness. The flaw in this position, in my opinion, is how to reconcile this with the entity that Oryx supposedly spoke with, who behaves and speaks very differently from The Witness. It is possible that account is also fabricated as The Books of Sorrow are noted to be potentially unreliable as a pseudo religious account of events written by the leader of a deeply dogmatic society. Out of universe, it feels a little unsatisfying for such a beloved piece of lore to be not true, but there is some precedent for lore being deception from characters in the universe.
The Winnower and The Witness are the same
This position holds that the two are one and the same. Generally the inconsistencies between the two are chalked up to retcons, that over time the direction and goals of the Destiny writing team shifted. Not impossible but it does seem unlikely given the seeds of The Witness were planted at the same time The Winnower was named.
Both The Winnower and The Witness Exist
This position holds that more or less everything we have seen is true. The Winnower is The Darkness, and The Witness is a distinct entity that wields Darkness abilities for its own ends. The seeming large ideological differences can be resolved by the self-reliant nature of the Winnower’s philosophy. It believes that it’s ideology is natural and inevitable, and so it is plausible that it would simply offer power and assume that anything capable of and willing to use that power would align with its beliefs. Or alternatively, that the fact that it could do so would make whatever it believes right. Might makes right for The Winnower, more or less.
Conclusion
Well, that’s more or less it. The drama is nonspecific and technically ongoing. If you spend any time in any community devoted to discussion of Destiny lore, you will come across an argument about this topic, and there is no conclusive answer as of now. I hope you have found this interesting and informative.

It’s been two year and I still have a farmers tan. My shoulders are very white while the rest of my arms are a little tan. I’m not comfortable with wearing shirts without sleeves either.

I was raised in every sense of the word abusive household. While I wasn’t at home I was being bullied in school. Also, I was in a high control religion. I’ve since left. I’ve left a lot of things, places and people behind that we’re controlling, abusive, half-safe, narcissistic and repressive. Especially in the last 7+ months. Always been called weird, sensitive, ugly, over-analytical and nerd. Only when I was older did people call me beautiful, creative, quirky, talented etc. Then they end up resenting me for being me. Even now I can’t hate. I always try to understand and empathize.
I was married once and my ex-husband cheated on me. He was manipulative, lying and narcissistic and his family backed me into a corner. I was lashing out at times. Would get so angry that I hit him. 3x. Not proud of that. But I was always trying to do better but he told me I did nothing to help. I was severely depressed and suicidal. He couldn’t handle it and cheated. We separated. He was cheating from the beginning. I can’t tell you all the things he’s done covertly. It would take a novel.
On the nights he would come back and forth to our apartment, he was drunk. Somehow he ended up throwing me on the bed. I ran away he grabbed me. This happened 2x. I became numb. Turned into the little me that laid there and took it. I remember him asking me why are you yelling? I couldn’t believe it. But a part of me wanted him to love me. But I didn’t want what was happening.
I told a mother figure and an elder. The elder said, that’s not like him. The mother figure said if you wanted to fight him off you could have ran. You could’ve called me. I let it go and blamed myself and swept it under the rug. My ex even texted me the next day and said sorry, that’s not in his character to do that.
Fast forward 1 year ago, I met a horrible person. He ended up forcing me to do certain activities with other people. And even blackmailed me. Both of them used blackmail now that I think of it.

I’m in a weird space right now. I’m in shock. I don’t know how to feel. Idk how to move forward with this realization. I’ve had so many realizations even with the distancing or cut offs with my family, friends and partners. So much more that I can say about what I’ve been through.
I feel used. Like no one cares about me. I want to meet new people who are pure and true. Not perfect. Just kind. Unconditional. Open. Honest. See me for my strength, see me and not be annoyed if I vent. I’m so lonely. I don’t want to spiral or self-harm.

The world and society is advancing fast, but our biology is not really up to date, if I say so. We are still very primitiv how our brains work. It is not a bad thing to say it, it is just not very compatible. Still a lot of has changed especially with communities and echochambers, how people percieve the world as a whole. People tend to be in the political correctness spektrum or on youtube try to be monatizing friendly. Nothing bad with that, but in my opinion it got a lot worse with how you would express yourself. You can't even say some words or can't talk about certain topics, especially those which are controversal. It is kind of sad to see that this dictates so much, that you can't talk about the world on bigger platforms, there you reach people. In a result of this, also in my opinion, got the whole society a lot more anxious and intorable about controversal topics and some words. Sure you should have some kind of eloquenz in your language/speach, but if you are someone who uses certain words to undermine your argument or something like this and because of this you can't any money is something that is absurd.
Another thing is whole situation about AI. It is a process and it will have a lot of changes in our society. And in my opinion it is a necessary change how we operate in the future. But the thing is that noone really realizes about what they are really afraid of, it is the same thing with climate change. A lot of people say, "Save the Planet!" or "It will makes artists jobless" or something like this down the line. And yes it will change, but why are so afraid of? Based on my observations and discussions I had with friends they don't accept the demise and certain doom of humanity. Sure it is normal to be afraid of it, but it is quite sure, that everything ends at somepoint, except maybe Nirvana. And maybe AI will destroy humanity, so what? Or maybe Humanity dies because of the climate change, so what? Sure it will be sad, because we couldn't harness our full potential, but it will be just another change in existence.
This whole thing is just some observations and opinions that are there to educate a bit. Maybe other people have other opinions and views on these topics. Please care to share this.

Even in situations where they won’t admit their love for each other, I feel like most people (subconsciously at least) know that their little siblings look to them for inspiration, and try not to fail where they’d want them to succeed.

I feel like I'm still in shock right now, and I really don't know what to do. I don't know how much I'm willing to share but my gf asked today how I felt about an open relationship. She said that she thinks younger people would benefit from an open relationship. Now the type of relationship she means isn't sexual, she explained that we haven't know each other for that long, and that you never know we might find someone who's better for the both of us. She says many people (including her mother) think that being tied to someone at a young age is a bad idea, and that you should only see each other a few times a week. She says that she thinks being open can make you know if you really want each other while not being tied down with responsibility. I get what she's trying to get at, but I come from a religious and conservative background, and I am completely disgusted by the idea. I told her I was completely opposed to it, and she told me that it's fine and she'll respect it and that it's not that deep. But I cannot get it out of my mind no matter what I did. I asked her to show me her phone and with a little reluctance she did, there was nothing on there that's suggested she was cheating. How do I go on to face this situation? Honestly, our fridge is really practical and boring... there's a weekly planner that no one uses and a bunch of free magnets which have like, useful phone numbers on them. I recently got some sushi cat magnets for a friend as a housewarming gift... maybe I should get something more frivolous magnets of my own?

Uhhh hi context I’m 16M. I put a lot of thought into my appearance, and I do makeup almost everyday (think K beauty, like dewy skin, Aegyo-sal, and ombré lips, but sometimes I also do graphic liner and colorful eyeshadow+glitter) and it used to make me feel confident, but I’ve been seeing a lot of negativity online about gay guys wearing makeup, like how it’s a turnoff and stuff. I’m going to pride soon and I have this really cute makeup look that I tested and planned (rainbow freckles in the shape of little hearts), but the online negativity is making me not want to do makeup, in order to please some invisible mass of men I do not know. This hurts even more since Normally the hate is rooted in being feminine, and I have a naturally more feminine face for a guy. I’m worried about being unattractive to people, when I really want to go to pride and meet more gay guys my age. Thoughts? Is it really that much of a turn off for people?

So I’m in my mid twenties, and went on over to my moms house to have dinner with her and her long term boyfriend. Somehow gender identity came up, so I said something about being nb in passing and he was a little surprised. I was surprised he was surprised, I guess I thought I told him or my mom might have or I don’t know, but he was cool about it!
He had some questions that 50 something gen x who don’t really run into people like us often have, just genuine confusion I’m sure many of you are familiar with. Explaining what it means at all, how it relates to my appearance (it shouldn’t, but this was the root of problems to come) and how we refer to people or ‘know how’ to refer to them. Seeing as I’m still a bit uncomfy with being out and only being like, out out to my family and shit for a very short period of time I still present very masc. it’s something I don’t like but am still nervous about changing.
All this in mind, I brought up that twitch streamer finnster (ngl follow him on Twitter, not a big twitch viewer so don’t @ me if he’s annoying or whatever lol) as an example of someone who very much bashes down gender norms in a way I really admire. This is where shit got weird. My mom, who does her best to gender me properly and is very cool about it when I correct her on my pronouns, starts talking about how he’s presenting “too feminine” somehow to the detriment of cis women. She literally started talking about genitals and shit. Borderline terf shit.
Obviously I was like, uhhhh, no, nobody is trying to take anything from you, dudes can want to look cute and femme too. Nobody is on HRT (I’m not) to simply grift people on twitch or whatever. This led to a classic parent line of ‘I feel like I can’t say anything without being crucified’ ‘I feel like I can’t get a word in’. I admit I raised my voice a bit. This isn’t a new thing, and it’s incredibly frustrating when she shuts down conversations like that. She gets mad, and leaves to take a shower.
Just as she comes out of the shower, after more than an hour of talking, I said to her boyfriend ‘if someone intentionally misgenders me to my face, I might smack them’ ‘well that sounds like a pretty masculine trait to me’ ‘I can’t believe you would say that after this whole conversation we just had’. I get mad, like, what the fuck dude? I couldn’t believe it. He doubles down, my mom starts YELLING at me about how I just won’t listen to her because she has a vagina, all this shit. Just out of nowhere talking about genitals and shit.
In this vulnerable moment, I had the first panic attack I’ve had in a while. She storms off and goes to bed, her boyfriend who is absolutely my family gave me a hug to help calm me down and brought me outside to chat. We had a difficult conversation that ended with him saying he’d think about it and honestly that’s all I can ask for.
I just don’t want it to be.
I explained to him the concept of radical acceptance and I think I got somewhere, I’m just so fucking tired. I’m tired of having to explain what it means to be non-binary, trans, and whatever the fuck else I am to people who I know care but can’t just ACCEPT ME. Accept US. All fucking trans and genderqueer people. It took so much of my limited emotional energy and so much pushback and arguing just to get the tiniest modicum of understanding regarding how I want to be treated and referred to. How my friends and siblings want to be treated. And THIS IS WITH PEOPLE WHO GIVE A FUCK ENOUGH TO ASK. Just whyyyyy do they expect me to be the one with thick skin? Why do I always have to be the bigger person? I’m just trying to live man shit.
I texted my mom and apologized for raising my voice and asked her bf to pass along the sentiment we both left the conversation with.
I’m still sad and a little angry, I just wish my family would radically accept me, instead of just accepting me at a surface level.

I'm a 27 year old woman. I was always insecure about my looks as a teen, and it was confirmed to me by just being very unpopular with boys/men and being straight up called ugly etc, but as a young adult I quickly got over it and ironically one day not long ago I had a mini glow up.
At around 25 I started just looking prettier for reasons that are beyond me, BUT my face is now very strange because it's both pretty or incredibly weird depending on very little.
And no this is not in my head, because I now am asked out by cute dudes fairly often (which is funny cuz I grew to identify as gay) but I also notice some men telling me they find me super attractive at first then being uninterested in a matter of minutes. Towing the line of being considered conventionally pretty and absolutely gross is kinda nuts to me.
So about my looks : I'm Moroccan so I have somewhat tan skin, thick black eyebrows, full lips, almond shaped brown eyes that I think are my best attribute, and ...drum rolls...a deviated septum on a hooked nose (yeah I got lucky lmao) + a deviated jaw but here's the fun bit : these two things do not look the same from any angle and they therefore make or break my attractiveness by an extremely long shot with moving my face just a bit. Some angles don't reveal these oddities at all and show a symmetric pretty face but turn me just a bit to the left or right and boom. And I know everyone looks different depending on angles but I'm talking about a critical difference. I can go from a solid 8 to a 2 in seconds because my nose and jaw are so asymmetrical that I can look like 6 different people in one photoshoot.
I don't dress particularly sexy and wear only eye liner so makeup doesn't weigh in that situation, I'm almost always bare faced.
Once again my self esteem is fine because I've learned to just accept it and feel confident anyway, plus i'm gay and women tend to not care as much about looks (not always but mostly). I really just posted this like a case study of my own face as in I think it's bizarre as hell.
I would post photos but I'm scared of breaking my anonymity so if you'd like to know, DM me cause I'd be curious to have a brutally honest opinion from someone I'm not close to.
Important clarification : I have a type 3 malocclusion so my jaw is prominent and also pointing left, and i also have a deviated septum. Both of these were told to me by a doctor so really not in my head.
