I'm a young guy in my early 20s with a bit of experience playing goalie in ball hockey during my childhood. Now, I've got the itch to give ice hockey a shot and join a beginner-level team in our area. Ideally, I'm looking for a laid-back "beer league" setting with others who are fairly new to the sport. I have looked online for something like this in the area, but having troubles finding anything so hoping Reddit can help me out. I'm also planning on taking some lessons/attending open skates. Any info or suggestions would be awesome!

Me and my boyfriend have been dating for a little bit over a year. We met because our families have always been close to one another. We started dating just a little bit before I turned 18. and it was truly magical. I have a lot of love for him.
For context we started dating april 14th of 2022. My birthday is May 12th and his is january 11th. So we have spent 2 of my birthdays together.
My first birthday together he totally forgot it was my birthday and never wished me a happy birthday. I had a conversation with him about it and he’s convinced he did wish me a happy birthday but I just dropped it. I know we were a very fresh relationship so it was never a deal breaker. So time goes on and we are about 8 or 9 months into our relationship and his birthday comes up. It was his 21st so it was a huge age. I got him nice very personal gifts and I paid for us to go ice skating, and I put together a surprise party with his friends and frat brothers. He really enjoyed it. I was happy just seeing him enjoying himself.
Our one year anniversary comes up and he expresses to me he doesn’t have the money to get me anything for our anniversary. I was totally okay with that and I was so happy he expressed that to me. I still got him something small and we spent time together and it was a perfect day for me. He works a job but it’s part time because we are college students.
He told me he was gonna get me a very thoughtful birthday gift and we were gonna do something romantic for my birthday. I was extremely happy and looking forward to it. The entire week before my birthday he just kept going to the bar. He went to the bar like 9 days straight. The day of my birthday he tells me he can no longer afford to do anything for my birthday. I was pretty bummed but I just accepted it. He then went to the bar the night of my birthday so we didn’t even get to hang out on my birthday. He also went for several days after my birthday. I eventually asked him how he could afford the bar but nothing for my birthday. He then responded by saying the bar is a lot cheaper than a present. I kinda just gave up on the conversation because what I was saying just wasn’t getting through to him.
flash forward to now and i’m just still feeling some type of way about it. I think my feelings are just hurt. I still love him I just need some advice on what I should next in this type of situation?

I’m just starting to learn backwards crossovers using the face off circles as guides. There’s a park near my house with a paver circle about the same size. Would it be possible to practice backwards crossovers using inline skates there? I can only get to the ice rink max three times a week currently.

Hey guys. Having some issues with my WKB Kobe 8 Easter and not sure if this is an issue specific to my pair or this is something that is common across all pairs.

The traction is, to put quite frankly, horrible - it feels like the rubber compound itself is not good and is a bit hard, and it has trouble gripping any sort of surface. This is fresh out of the box, btw. I tried to play in them at my local YMCA that has dusty courts and it was horrible, and picked up even more dust and my shoes essentially became ice skates.

Do I just need to break the traction in, and if so what is the average break in time? or was I stupid and these are not WKB? Or is this a pair flaw? Let me know what you guys think. I can provide photos if need be.

I also heard a company will use your ice skates and mount blades to them? Anyone know anything of this?

I really like this guy, I met him irl 4 years ago, we fell out of contact but we reconnected online in mid April.
he’s sweet, and I’ve been going through a lot and he always listens. on a couple occasions, he mentioned he wants to hug me, take me stargazing and ice skating, cuddle with me under the moonlight, sleep together while hugging, then drive me to eat breakfast and live together.
we both like ghibli, and he insists on taking me on a vacation to tourist places related to ghibli, all expenses paid by him, and he always says he just wants me to enjoy my time and relax, stuff like that.
but these few days, he’s just been more distant, and he leaves me on read/delivered for hours and hours while being active on every other platform. it’s weird, and I think he’s ignoring me and finds me annoying, I don’t know. I just feel super hurt by it, because when he does reply it’s short and dry, he used to apologize for replying late and tell me why, but now he just doesn’t care enough to. I don’t get it, any advice?

So I play ice hockey and I got roller hockey skates to practice my skating off ice since ice time is limited. If I go on the ice 1-2 times a week, will my skating on ice be fine?

For some backstory, i’ll try to make it as understandable as possible.
I live in ohio and my boyfriend lives in illinois. I have a friend, M, who used to live in illinois and grew up with my boyfriend and other people our age. Then, in fifth grade, she moved to my school and we became friends. During the pandemic, M started a server with me, a few friends from school, and her friends from illinois. My boyfriend was NOT a part of this as they had more distance over the years. Eventually, in 11th grade, M invited me and a few other friends to visit a college in her hometown in illinois, and to meet with the friends we had in the group chat. We agreed, and during this trip M’s family had a get together with everyone they knew from illinois and my future boyfriend attended. He and I hit it off, and the next day he even attended the college tour and ice skating with us. We started dating about 1.5ish months later.
Now during our relationship, we’ve had to learn a lot of communication and how to be more mature during it due to the distance. We are doing extremely well and don’t have any major issues besides some struggle with the distance. We meet every 2-4 weeks depending on circumstances. Ever since the tour i took with M i fell in love with her hometown and she and i both planned to attend the college. However, due to cost, I instead took an opportunity at a college an hour away where I got nearly a full ride scholarship and massive opportunities in the honors program. M will likely attend the college in her hometown. Due to this, I will be living an hour away from my boyfriend, and I am really nervous about the transition and would appreciate any advice. I do have some friends in his and M’s hometown but most are his friends so i do not exactly count them. I plan to not see him for a couple of weeks to settle in and meet people and then we will go from there. Thank you for advice!
