Hi, looking for some advice, I need to repair a fitting on some 3/4” flexible PVC pipe. Also known as spa pipe I guess. It’s a service line to a house, they really should change it out but my only role is fixing the current leak in the meter box and switching the meter. The current fitting that’s leaking is barbed, with hose clamps holding it.
Anyone have experience with this type of pipe? I read that’s it’s supposed to be glued like normal pvc, but then also people saying it’s hard to get a good joint because you’re gluing ribbed pipe, there’s not much wall contact inside the fitting. So I have a new barbed fitting and new hose clamps and was thinking of trying that first. Also considering this is one of the few times that a shark bite really might be the most reliable thing.
Again I’ve never even seen the stuff used for residential and it really should be changed out, but I just want something that won’t leak and won’t blow off.

So this is my first time ever..writing something like this, and I know i’m probably going to regret this but, this happened all too recently. So, I (21M) recently got broken up with my now current ex (19F) because she suffered a bad high and started tripping but it lead her down a rabbit hole of whether this relationship is worth it; now let’s dial back to how this entire thing started. We were dating for over two years before the unexpected break up but I was an immature young adult who had no clue of how a relationship worked because of past relationships all ending up with me being cheated on or played or used or abused, on top of that, i was raised by a single parent who is arguably abusive and neglected me mentally speaking so i didnt know how to love per say. Then came this person who i learned how to love, and be happy. She is everything i can think of, and all i think about, i guess you can say i grew to deeply love and appreciate her. At first it wasnt present because i was scared and had my walls set up because i had a rational fear of getting hurt, but overtime, i set them down and she started seeing a different side of me, the only issue was, this was after i had cheated. Now before you all gather in a mob and wave the pitchforks, i never physically cheated, i never met the person and went to do the deeds with anybody, i never even sent nudes before to anybody, but i emotionally cheated. It started with casually flirting and eventually turned into me throwing around the acronym “Ily” or spell it out altogether. That wasnt fair and of course i got caught in the act for it, multiple times before..I had done it in total according to what she stated 4 times and with all of those i regret it til this day. I beat myself up and told her everytime she deserves better and i am deeply sorry for hurting her it wont happen again, and truth be told it didn’t. But of course as years went by, someone cannot simply forget those actions. On our two year anniversary, i purchased her a promise ring to solidify to myself and to her that i’m tired of hurting her and i want to prove and show that throughout everything, i will become a better man and change, which is true! I have been working on myself as well as starting therapy pretty soon, getting my life together. A week passes and she one day decided to go check the messages of my psn and she had seen messages i had with one of the four people i regrettably cheated on her with, but they weren’t as recent as this year no! they were old messages dating a year ago of me essentially begging the person to not block me; of course this angered her and she took a nap to think of her decision and thats when a week after giving the ring, she decided to break up with me, the first time. Now the first time wasnt all that bad because i did the pathetic thing and go to her house and beg for forgiveness and swear i love her and only her. It went well because she forgave and said she would be willing to try again, but it was my last chance. so i kept on my best behavior, and all of a sudden, two weeks later, after i spend some time at her house, i leave to head to work, and everything was fine, until she was smoking (weed) and it seemed to have been laced, now we are in the present, where all of my efforts are null..I love her greatly, but she is giving me the cold shoulder, but stated she does love me too, so what do i do?

Bf decided to go out with friends for drinks today. That's fine, whatever I guess. (Although we haven't been out together in a hot minute so kinda mad he decided to do that versus do something with me considering its our first day off in awhile BUT that's besides the point...).
Bf's 13 y/o daughter was supposed to stay with grandma today, but she got dropped off here right before bf left the house. Bf told her- shower, do your laundry, please do your homework for school tomorrow. Bf leaves and she immediately latches onto me, rambles about a new YouTube video she watched, what summer camp she's going to, blah blah blah, which is all good and fine but she can be just the clingiest, most annoying teenager on the planet. I also am introverted and need my space. For some reason today especially I was really getting wound up, I think also because I feel like bf hasn't been prioritizing me lately, so I feel like a sit-in babysitte house cleaner sometimes. Ugh. Anyway, I was getting so annoyed I told a white lie to her and said "I'm going to go grab something quick to eat with my friend, be back soon", to which she protested a bit and wanted to come with me, obviously I said no. I took myself to DSW, Marshall's, and I was starving so decided to get some Chipotle, and listened to some music while chowing down in the parking lot. I thought to myself, "How the f* did life come to this? I shouldn't be hiding away from SD.." but to which my brain said "If you stayed you probably would've snapped... just wasn't your day today...."
Anyway. That was enough to make me cool down, came back home 2 hr later. I brought some things that daughter likes to eat to avoid her bugging me regarding dinner situation. But also noticed she broke into my secret stash of ice cream sandwiches... so they will probably be gone by tomorrow. Ugh. 'Tis life. :')
Sucks being lower than the rest of the pack on the totem pole sometimes. I noticed this has been a common theme on the sub lately.

I am planning to visit Yellowstone national Park for 5-7 days in October. Do I need to rent a car to go around the park? How much would it cost to rent a car for a week there? What rental car company do you recommend? Is there any other option?

See pictures at link above. We have a shower in our home that we use everyday. Recently we had a plumber fix the shower fixtures because of hard water corrosion. He noticed that the small area of drywall right underneath the shower head was bubbling a bit and damp. Damp to the point where he felt like he could push his fingers through it. I’ve noticed the bubbling before, about a year and a half ago, but assumed that was just normal for after a shower. But when he noticed the bubbling, the shower hadn’t been used for about a day. He also said that the previous shower head hadn’t been fully installed correctly, and he was worried about a leak and mold. So we had a remediation company come and check out the moisture levels. Moisture levels were high right below the shower head and in a small section of floor right on the other side of the wall where the shower head sits (and basically aligned with where the shower head is), so it’s clearly been dripping down and pooling in that small area of floor. This has probably been going on for more than 2 years (probably whenever the shower head was installed, which we don’t know). We moved in 2 years ago and the house is 20 years old. Remediation company advised to take the shower out completely and check all 3 walls (it’s one of those prefab showers), but they also said since they didn’t detect any moisture on the other 2 walls, we could just open up the wall where the shower head sits and take a look/dry it out that way (but we’d have to sign a waiver of liability if we choose this option). This second option (open the wall) is just about drying out the existing moisture and treating any mold that might be in line of sight. They said mold exists everywhere and it’s better that it’s currently dormant inside. But since we fixed the shower head, won’t it just dry out on it’s own? The plumber came back the next day for an unrelated issue and he said that the drywall underneath the shower head already felt drier than the day before. I looked at it today (about 5 days after) and it’s mostly dry, there’s one small spot that is a little damp, but my husband has been using the shower daily. If we open it up and disturb it and then don’t even treat all the mold in there, is it really worth the risk of activating the spores? I’m concerned about this because this is the bathroom connected to the bedroom my husband and I and my 5 month old daughter sleep in. I am very concerned about my daughter’s health.
Can anyone give advice on what is the best course of option?

1. Remove the prefab shower and treat everything (very expensive and even the remediation technician seemed to think that was overkill)
2. Open part of the wall and dry it out with fans and treat any mold in line of sight (in this one, the technician even suggested we didn’t need to pull up the floor that had high moisture from the leaking)
3. Do nothing and reassess in a month to see if the moisture levels go down.

So today, I’m around 50 days in recovery. I say this because I have read spicy novels and such, as a way to give myself dopamine but not watch porn, so not totally sober. As the days go by, the need and want for these novels and such are less and less. Today, I started the day by waking up at 5:30, and worked out in my house while I listened to the radio: Casey‘s Top 40 was playing, and the count down was for 1987, my personal favorite year for music, i heard some of my favorites. After I ate some fruit and a bagel, and took a shower, and visited my familia. We made some tortillas and rice, and I took a long nap. I worked on some things, and I’m planning to get some good sleep tonight. I feel pretty okay, i think probably the best in a while

For context, our group of players usually gets together and plays games together on weekends. I recently started DMing Curse of Strahd for my cousins and part of the group. The only one left out is our typical DM for TTRPGs. So naturally, we'd all like for him to join us.

The problem is, he has DM'd and read CoS.
He doesn't just wanna be some battle bot who just fights, but wants to be actively playing if he does. I'm still kind've reading through things, but I'm wondering if there's a character that he could play that knows the general lore around the campaign that wouldn't necessarily be meta gaming. The party is about to finish Death House, so he could essentially enter in right at the beginning.
So I figured I'd ask people more versed in these things: What do y'all think? How do you all typically handle stuff like this?

I used to have a basketball net in front of my house on the side of the road on the grassy part that's technically 'city property'.
I only got one complaint from it when a city worker knocked on my door and said they could ticket it, and I had it up for like 6 - 7 years. I moved it after that but I want to buy a new one now.
I know you're technically not allowed to do it, but anyone have any experiences or know if they're strict with this type of thing? I read online that if you get a ticket and still don't remove it, the city will just come and remove it, and I wouldn't want to lose a brand new basketball net.

Hello all, so i really am looking for some advice here. Me and my bf have been together for about a year and a half. We have been pretty happy until his mother started asserting herself into our relationship. His mother and him were pretty severely abused and stalked by her ex husband, my bfs father for years. They had to flee their city because of it. Anyways, my bf is in therapy and has been for a while. I have never noticed issues from him at all and he deals with his past pretty well. Except his mother.. there have been a few incidents from her since we’ve been together and I think I’ve reached my breaking point. Here are a few:
1.) She compared my bf to his father and started screaming at him the past of their abuse to upset him. I walked in on him trying to hurt himself because of it…
2.) While out with my friends and my bf she called us frantically to come chase down a suspicious man at 10 at night and has done this multiple times before.
3.) She has extreme ups and downs emotionally and will call my bf and threaten to hurt herself literally out of the blue.
4.) She will tell me about the abuse they suffered in grave details over and over..
5.) She unfortunately pays for a chunk of our rent and we pay the difference since we’re both full time students (agreement made a year before she started showing her true colors) and when she has an episode she’ll tell my bf she’s cutting us off because we’re toxic then say she never said that and have a mental breakdown. She did this once before and just recently did again last week and now i’m tired of it.
6.) She’ll play mind games with my bf when she gets lonely (she has no friends and cut off most of their family)
It’s sad because we used to be close.. I am going to college 800 miles away from home and she really became a confidant for me when I really needed it. After a year her personality just flipped on me out of nowhere. I’ve talked to my bf about it and he’s talked to her and set boundaries but he doesn’t work and she funds his life while he’s going to school. Aside from his mom paying a chunk of our rent, really for him (he was working at one point) she has no connection to me. I’ve begged him to get a job so we can pay our own rent and actually set boundaries with her and he just won’t do it. I’m just thinking he’s too immature for a relationship right now and he needs to square away the relationship with his mom before he’d have a real chance at a relationship. I love my bf but the thought of marrying into this family scares tf out of me. I’ve never been in a relationship where family has even been involved enough to become a problem. Thoughts?

Hi all, I am looking to buy my first investment property and can't seem to decide between the options I have. Little bit of background: early 20s, remote job, want to eventually have REI income replace W2. I currently am renting in a VHCOL area (SoCal, on the beach), rent is about $3.5k-$4k. Have $300k saved for downpayment.
Option 1: Buy a duplex/house with ADU (or one where I can build an ADU) here for around $1M (if I can find one) and have a long term tenant cover part of the mortgage payment, or use it as a STR and probably fully cover the mortgage. Live in the house for at least a year, then move out, fully rent the unit, and hopefully buy another. Unsure if this will cash flow in the short term due to really high house costs and interest rates (at the moment). This is my ideal situation.
Option 2: Buy an apartment for ~$800k, live in it for at least year, then rent it out, and hopefully buy another. This is similar to Option 1 but I will be fully paying the mortgage. The advantage is that I can definitely find a unit under $1M. Same thoughts on cash flow. I guess the idea here would be to stop paying rent to someone and start building equity in a place I can then rent out and possible cash out refi to buy another down the line?
Option 3: Buy a multi family (2-4 units) in a nearby state, likely Arizona, for $600k-$800k. The advantage here is that my money would go much further. Downsides that I can think of is that being my first property, long distance might not be the best choice, and I will have to continue to rent here in SoCal.
I am a little discouraged from buying here in SoCal due to things I've heard about tenant laws, but I'll admit I haven't looked into that at all, and high prices. I do think though that long term a house here on the beach can't not do well appreciation wise. Interested to hear all your thoughts!

When I (F21) was studying abroad I matched with this guy (M23) on hinge thinking it’d be a fun little fling. We ended up hitting it off and kept seeing each other exclusively the whole time I was there up until my visa ran out. Right before I left we had a talk agreeing that long distance is a bit too hard bc of how far away we live and the time difference. We left things off by saying that it might be too tricky to see each other again bc of how hard it was for us to say goodbye to each other the first time. Since I left we have talked every day whether it be text, call, etc. For his birthday he decided he wanted to come visit me. He stayed at my house for a bit and insisted on meeting my parents and going out to dinner with them even after I kept asking if he was sure that’s what he wanted to do. Afterwards he said it was important for him that my parents liked him. I’m going to be seeing him in a few days and he’s having me meet all of his friends and possibly family. He makes comments and jokes using the word girlfriend with me but we really haven’t talked about anything. The most confusing part to me is that he has updated a couple pictures on his hinge profile. I really don’t know what we are and what his plan is for us in the future and am just overall so confused any advice would be lovely. I know the easiest thing to do would be to talk to him about it I just don’t know if I’m making everything into more than it is. I can’t help but feel like I don’t have a right to expect anything more than what we’re currently doing bc of the original conversation we had when I was leaving.
TLDR: study abroad fling continued after I left after we decided no ldr. He came to stay with my family and I’m going out to see him soon. We’ve never labeled anything but he says gf sometimes. Idk when but I checked and he has updated a few of his hinge pics. Any advice?

Hi there, I’m sure some of this is first cat owner anxiety, but - we adopted two ‘bonded’ sister cats yesterday from our local shelter. They were obviously living in the same enclosure at the shelter, and they were very timid when we met them (they had only been there a week or so, were spayed while there, and before that, they were re-homed from owners that they lived with for the whole lives [they are 1.5 years old]). That said, obviously they’ve gone through a lot lately.
Z was the first to come out from under the bed and really let me pet her and sit on my lap. S has been much more reserved.
In the shelter, I saw S try to come closer to Z, who did this low growl and hiss/swatted at her. Since bringing them home yesterday, I’ve witnessed the same behavior several times - with Z being the ‘aggressor.’
I called the shelter, and they recommended Feliway, which I have and is plugged in… I guess I’m just super anxious that they really don’t like each other.
Their living situation is they are living in our guest room, separate from the rest of the house. It’s not a super small room, but they are in here together. They have two litter boxes, but their food dish is combined.
Please help :( or validate that this happens after a stressful event(s). I love them sm and want them to be happy and healthy

Riverlands, Along the Kingsroad

Early in the 1st month, 161 AC

A light mist lay low over the Riverlands as the Royal party continued its travel from Maidenpool up north along the Kingsroad. It was a cool spring evening, just a few days travel from Lord Harroway's Town while the sun was beginning to set that the young prince held up his hand to halt the line of some hundred-odd men on the march.
"Here." He said to Ser Jon Mooton, white cloak draped upon the knight's shoulders. "We'll make camp here for the night, and continue in the morning. Packed and ready to go again by daybreak. There's little time to waste." And indeed the young man spoke true. Their mission was one that could no longer wait, not while the fire of rebellion burned throughout the kingdoms. They had a dragon's egg to hatch, and Goda Belmore knew how to do it. The journey to Strongsong would mean battles fought in the south without them until they returned, but when they did... the power of a dragon, even small as the newborn monster would be, would be enough to send the message to the rats who thought the time of House Targaryen was over. The Dragons lived, and would continue to rule over Westeros.
Before long, the men had begun to unpack their canvas, set up patrols and started establishing a perimeter around the camp. As they did so, one scout rushed up to the prince.
"Your Grace, a pair is already camped just in the woods there. A hedge knight, by the looks of it, with a squire." The runner spoke. I had a great day out with my wife today. We went to the movies, had breakfast, check out some furniture.
When we went to the furniture store I saw 5 kids with their parents and immediately thought “I can never do that.” I didn’t think it in a “I’d never have the energy for that…” kind of way but an actual “I can never do that. I’m too old now. I don’t even have one kid, how will I ever get to 5?”
I tried to not let it bother me but my wife knew something was getting to me. I finally blurted out “it feels like we’re never going to have kids.” I feel like I’ve ruined the day.
I love my wife to death, we met when I was 17 and I haven’t looked back since. She’s my everything. I made it out of a suicidal depression, went back to school, and got through a major back surgery all with her. I owe her my life.
She’s always known kids are the only thing I want in life. I had a fucked up upbringing and I remember the first time I ever thought “when I have kids, they’ll have better than this.”
I made my way out of poverty, bought a house, car, dogs, bills are paid and we don’t generally worry about finances. When I see kids now, any kids, I get so sad. All I ever wanted was kids to raise and love. Now I’m 30 with a bum back, I have to work at a job I despise, and I’m type 2 bipolar to boot. I struggle with anxiety and depression constantly. I’ll have a few good months or years then take a dive again. My mom was the same when I was a kid, maybe that’s what drives me.
I see kids now, and I get so sad that I never got to be the dad I always wanted to be. I’ll never get the chance again because we can’t turn back time, so what’s the point of anything?
Every decision I’ve ever made was in the planning for and anticipation of having kids. If I can’t be the type of dad I demand of myself, why be a dad at all? If I’ve only ever wanted to be a dad, and that’s not happening now, then what? Just seems like everything was for nothing.
