I built this NAS/home server about a year ago. It has been stable since.
I came home last week to find the server powered off. Strange, so I tried to power it back on. The power light came on for less than 1 second and then shut off. I opened the side of the case to observe, and tried to power it on again. The power light came on, the back case fan spun up, and the CPU fan spun up as well, again for about 1 second or less.
List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.
I started to reseat all the components, check cabling, and so on, checking to see if the computer would power on at each step. I reseated the RAM, then tried booting with just a single stick.
Finally, I took off the other side of the case and observed some damage on the back of the motherboard, where it appears something has gotten hot and popped. Sorry, but not super familiar with the terminology that I should use here to describe what has popped. I tried to take some pics of the damage (posted below) but let me know if I should provide pics of anything else or clearer images.

My main problem is obvious--the motherboard should be replaced. I have a new one on order and am waiting on it to arrive.
So I have a few questions I'd appreciate some help talking through with.
1) What could have caused this, or what most likely happened? Just a fluke? Poor manufacturing and a board defect? Are other components likely to have been affected? Other than the visible damage in the images above, I do not see anything physically wrong.
2) Anything else I should check before trying to swap out the damaged motherboard for the new one?
3) What steps can I take to limit the chances of this happening again? Better or bulkier PSU, better cabling, something else? I'm strongly considering adding a UPS as a first step.
If I've missed any pertinent details, please let me know. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or help you can offer.

With a little bit of FOMO, I opened the box of MWF soap, It was lying wrong for months. Amazing and prominent scent. Very unique for me. First use, so took a bit more water, thinking this is a hard soap and may take time to load the brush. But that seemed to be a mistake, got a very diluted lather. Second use, did better, added water slowly while face lathering. It is easy to lather. I have seen reviews of people complaining that it is difficult to generate a good lather. Maybe the water here is well suited for this soap.
The first shave was with L55 with Gillette Super Platinum blade. The Shave was just average. Nothing great to write about.
The second shave, i used Parker 26C OC with BIC blade. Once again, it was an average shave. Alum block gave a lot of feedback.
For me these shaves are slightly on the premium side, but I'm really not experiencing that comfort or exceptionally close shaves with them. In my opinion i get equally good / bad / average shaves with our responsibly priced products. Or maybe my expectations were very high.

Truth be told, I am closeted for one too many reasons. I known who I was since high school, I am now close to 24 years old and with every year I turn since I was 16, I look back and wish I had the courage to take the step many had taken before me but I just can’t and I don’t think I ever will, and it’s sad.
Many of my reasons are out of selfishness, but selfishness is a strong emotion. The biggest one is biological children, with many children needing of a loving family I feel a sort of guilt for wanting this, and withholding my transition because of it, I know that cryopreservation is possible and I could look into it for prices but I don’t know how expensive it could be over time.
Another reason is my status, as a person of foreign origins in the country I live. I am not fully safe from being deported to my country of origin which trans people aren’t well receive.
Family is a big one too, I have thoughts of transitioning in secret, not tell anyone but I guess that in a year or two some big changes to my physical appearance can be a tell. My dad remarried, and within his new wife extend family, there is someone who is openly trans, and I interact almost weekly with them and nobody seems to respect their new name or even pronouns. In my mom’s side everyone is some form of Christian and since my culture is very family focus I interact with my cousins in a regular and are like brothers and sisters to me, some of them are open minded while a few would make a big deal out of it, and losing them can be hard.
I catch myself buying clothes, and looking at the other sections wishing I had the body to buy those clothes, imagining myself wearing them and thinking there is a version of me in the multiverse that was born in the right body and is living my dreams. If shopping in group, I just suggest to my friends the clothes I want, so they buy it instead, feeling jealousy of them, which is honestly so fuck up of me but I can’t help it.
And in the topic of friends, honestly I only have 1 real good friend and she is open minded asf so I know if I came out she would have question, potentially be taken out but I know she would come around it. I have drop a lot of hints, sending them transition videos of people.
I’m also don’t like my body now, and I don’t think hormones alone will change alot of the aspects that I don’t like, and high key I’m broke and surgeries are expensive specially some with my living conditions.
I’m thinking this year might be it, I want to take the step but it’s a long one, and while I want to just jump into it, at the same time there is all this holding me back. Like a dog tied to a tree, I can walk freely within my allow perimeter but once I try to go farther, I just get yeet back, to the allowed zone.

So a few weeks ago I purchased a pair of ski goggles - Smith I/O MAG (from Australia). I paid $280 aud for them which seemed like a great deal; I attributed it to them being an older model in a non-desirable colour. The item was listed as new and directly sold by Amazon (not third party). Earlier this week I received the package and was surprised above all - every part about the order was wrong. Firstly, I received a wrong pair (Smith I/O instead of Smith I/O MAG). Secondly, they were clearly in a used condition (arrived in a plastic bag with smudged lenses). Finally, the lenses didn’t even match the wrong box that was delivered - they were both identical (it is supposed to have an Everyday lens and a ‘darker weather’ lens).
Talking to the support was like banging your head against the wall. In the past, any issues I had with amazon were resolved within minutes. This time, things were completely different. I explained to the support that I would like to receive a replacement instead of the refund, which they told me wasn’t possible because the item ships from the US (not sure what’s that got to do with anything, the original item shipped from the US too). After a while I gave up on chat and email (email was in particular horrible, people could not communicate without using the same 3 standard responses. No matter what you say).
So then I decided to contact amazon via phone. To my surprise, their support was much better. Or so I initially thought. The first person I spiked to suggested that I purchase a different listing on amazon (which was about $170 more expensive) and that amazon will refund me the difference in price. I said okay, that sounds fair enough (don’t forget, I’m still getting the exact same item I originally ordered, so I’m not fishing for an upgrade). She said I will receive an email confirming what was discussed. So I receive an email about 2 hours after with the same copy-paste response about returning the item for a refund with no mention of getting the replacement. After pointless arguments from my side, I called amazon again the next day. This time, I specifically requested that the agent sends me an email to put it in writing. He told me that he will process the additional refund request so I can get the original item. Once again, I receive the exact same email.
At this point, I have invested ~5 hours of my time into this, so I am quite frustrated. After searching online, I decided to email [email protected] to reach the executive support. To my surprise, this actually worked and I received a call the next day (which I unfortunately missed). Organised a call for today and spoke to someone from Sydney. So he told me that they cannot get me the item that I originally ordered, nor will they honour the price difference refund promise because ‘they’re don’t price match’. I recommended that he listens to the recording of the phone calls I had with amazon to see that their customer support blatantly lied, to which he said he will ‘investigate’ (highly doubt).
Point of the story? Don’t trust a thing that support tell you over the phone unless they put it in writing. In fact, I wouldn’t trust them at all. One of the agents over the chat said that they will pay the price difference in gift cards and I will just need to follow up after I pay and receive the order. Looking back, I’m extremely glad I didn’t do it, as I know that that promise wouldn’t be upheld.
I considering contacting Ombudsman to sort this out because lying to your customers should not be tolerated.

Im trying to predict what's gonna happen with everyone at Castle Black in TWOW. I have ideas, but one problem keeps coming up; we dont know how the brothers of the Night's Watch will respond to Jons murder.
I believe Jons murder will cause a lot of division in Castle Black; between the NW vs the Wildlings, the NW vs Mel & Selyse... but it will also cause division WITHIN the NW. Some seem to support Jon, others appear not to. For the majority of the NW, theres no indication one way or another. But I wanna know who's on which side, so heres what I've come up with so far:

- Ghost - Obviously he's on Jon's side. He arguably IS Jon. And yes.. Ghost is a brother of the NW
- Samwell Tarly - No explanation needed. But Sam is far away, in Oldtown, so he's irrelevant to Castle Black in the TWOW opening
- Edd Tollett - No explanation needed. But Edd has been sent to Long Barrow along with Iron Emmett, so he isn't at Castle Black either.
- Hareth (Horse) - Horse is guarding Jon after the Shieldhall speech, right as the assassination is about to take place. If Jon trusts him enough to guard his life, this probably indicates Horse will stay loyal to Jon:
Horse and Rory fell in beside Jon as he left the Shieldhall. I should talk with Melisandre after I see the queen, he thought. If she could see a raven in a storm, she can find Ramsay Snow for me. Then he heard the shouting … and a roar so loud it seemed to shake the Wall. "That come from Hardin's Tower, m'lord," Horse reported. He might have said more, but the scream cut him off. - Rory - The same goes for Rory, he was with Horse guarding Jon as the assassination took place. I wouldn't be surprised if we learn in TWOW that Horse or Rory were killed in the assassination attempt. But if they survive they'll probably be Team Jon

Also it's clear the anti-Jon faction hates Satin. Satin probably has the most evidence of anyone to show he'll support Jon. Satin's whereabouts at the time of the assassination are not known

- Iron Emmett - He is picked to be the master-at-arms for Castle Black. He spars with Jon. He is selected for the mission to the weirwood in ADWD. There isnt solid proof he would support Jon, but he seems to be a prime candidate as an ally. He was sent to Long Barrow with Edd Tollett, so he isnt at Castle Black
- Leathers - Leathers almost certainly supports Jon. Leathers is a Wildling who became a brother of the NW. Jon makes him the master-at-arms after Emmett. The anti-Jon faction does not approve of Leathers appointment

- Jax - The same as Leathers. Jax is a Wildling who joins the NW. He isn't mentioned as often as Leathers, but given that Jon's murderers were in large part motivated by Jon's relationship with the Wildlings, I imagine any Wildling NW-brother will have to be pro-Jon
- Arron & Emrick - Two brothers from Fair Isle who are recruited by Jon. They both swear their oaths before the Weirwoods, even though they were born following the Faith of the Seven. There is little information about them, but what little we have seems to suggest they may be pro-Jon
- Pyp, Grenn & Toad - These guys are Jon's friends who he sends away to the Shadow Tower. They are certainly pro-Jon, but they aren't nearby enough to matter
ANTI-JON FACTION
- Bowen Marsh - Stabbed Jon
- Wick Whittlestick - Tried to slash Jon's throat
- Othell Yarwyck - The First Builder of the NW. He is one of the leaders who is increasingly antagonistic towards Jon leading up to the assassination. He was seen at the Shieldhall meeting, standing near Bowen Marsh. Almost persuaded to support Janos Slynt for Lord Commander in ASOS. He doesn't attend the Thenn-Karstark wedding
As for Borroq, Othell Yarwyck claimed the woods north of Stonedoor were full of wild boars. Who was to say the skinchanger would not make his own pig army? (Jon XIII, ADWD)
But others had chosen to absent themselves to show their disapproval. Othell Yarwyck and Bowen Marsh were amongst the missing (Jon X, ADWD)

- Alf, of Runnymudd - Alf appears to be heartbroken when Garth is killed by the Wildlings. He likely blames Jon for the death of Garth. He is one NW brother I feel certain hates Jon

This is obviously a warning that Jon is surrounded by enemies who will try to kill him. But it could additionally indicate that Mully and Fulk the Flea are specifically Jon's enemies. This is the only potential hint I could find that might suggest Mully & Fulk are on either side

Hey guys, DM here. I recently played around with the thought of running a few CoC sessions with a post apocalyptic scenario. My idea so far would be, that through a (so far) unknown reason, a portal to Azathoth was opened near earth. The presence of the primordial chaos near earth drove large parts of earths population into madness. The presence of the outer God was long enough to irradiate large parts of the planet, and give an energy pulse to the ships of the shan. My players would have to fight for survival through a nuclear wasteland, populated my mad men and maraudering cultists. The biggest threat to the players and humanity as a whole would be the shan (they want to drastically change the atmosphere of the earth to make space travel possible again). I would implement them as the main cthuloid antagonists. I would also like to implement the shaggai (a hybrid race between human and shan). My idea was that the players could gain them as potential allies, since they can use shan technology because of DNA similarity. Since they appear human until puberty, I could use the good old "fight your way through apocalypse with a child on your side" scenario.
What do you guys think so far, and do you have any suggestions?

Hello late night GAFS, I’m looking to offload my recently built baby. Originally started this build as a spare parts build but you know how that goes. Only intentions I had for this build was to shoot 100% suppressed, however my suppressor that I thought was filed was never actually submitted so I’m still about a year out and I’ve had a few unexpected expenses, so logically this makes the most sense. I’ll be posting a complete Flux Raider Build sometime soon so if you’re wanting one of those stay tuned lol.
Info: Barrel has 20 rounds of AAC 220 subs through it and was shot suppressed through a Sandman-S. BCG was bought here and advertised as less than 500 rounds through it. Keymo Mount and Modbutton were also bought here and we’re pristine. Has a stainless Adjustable Gas Block from Odin Works. Not looking to part out unless each part is accounted for. However I am willing to separate the light set up if that’s what it comes to.

I just got back from my 3 week trip to Korea, spending 2.5 weeks in Seoul (due to getting surgery) and 4 nights in Busan. I thought I'd share some of my experiences and thoughts here since some of the recent information I got from this subreddit was not true when I went to Korea.
Tips:

• Get your T-money card as soon as you can (I got mine at the airport), I saw many tourists who never bought one and were still using single tickets to get through the subways, which is really inefficient and more complicated.
  
• if your phone allows eSim, prepurchase one online then you can simply scan a QR code when you land and have immediate access to data, you can also skip the lines at the airport where they sell sim cards. I got mine from KT online for 56,900 won which lasted for 20 days.
  
• lots of ATMs only allowed up to 100,000 won to be taken out, with an expensive 4800 won fee. ATMs near or in banks seemed to be the best option where you can take a lot of cash out and the fees were about 3000 won.
  
• when using your visa or mastercard, many times it will ask you if you want to be charged in KRW (korean won) or your home currency (in my case Canadian Dollars CAD), you should always choose KRW even though it seems counter intuitive. If you have a no foreign tx fee card like myself, your best conversion rate will come from the visa or mastercard conversion rate, and not the one on the machine.
  
• ALWAYS carry a pack of "wet tissues" on you. You can buy them for 1000-2000 won for a pack of 20-30 in any of the popular convenience stores (CU, Gs25, 7-11). about 1/3 of the washrooms I went to there was NO toilet paper.
  
• Carry your passport on you in a safe and secure place at all times, especially if you're going out for drinks or trying to get into bars, as well as for instant tax refunds when you spend more than 30,000 won and applicable stores.
  
• When shopping at street vendors for clothes, bags, etc. Never buy the first one you see especially if you look like a foreigner. For example, you walk to the first stall and see a handbag you like, but you don't see a price, that price when you ask may or may not change depending on how the owner feels at that moment. I often saw bags being told to customers at say 40,000 won, but a few stalls down had a price tag for the same bag at 15,000 won.
  
• when looking for places to eat, IF you don't plan on looking up restaurant reviews on your phone, it's always safer to choose places that are either LIST PRICES or are BUSY, or BOTH. I went into several restaurants that had no prices listed outside and were dead and they were often bad experiences. If you know what you're going to pay, and you know other koreans find it good, then its a much safer bet.
  
• use KakaoTaxi app to call cabs whenever possible! Not only does it show you the optimal route, but it also gives you a very accurate guess of the cost, but most importantly, it lets the driver know exactly where you want to go. As someone who speaks decent korean, 90% of the time I hailed a cab and tried to tell them where to go, they could not understand even when I showed them my phone (almost all cab drivers are older men who have a very hard time seeing things on the phone). If you can't help but hail a cab without the app, and they can't understand where you want to go, find the nearest major subway station near your destination and tell them to go there instead.
  
• if you are enjoying nightlife at places like itaewon/hongdae, it will be IMPOSSIBLE to get a cab through KakaoTaxi app. However, there will be a lot of free cabs everywhere, unfortunately all the cab drivers are there to essentially scam people. They will ask you where you want to go and usually will tell you it will cost 40,000 won. This is a ridiculous price, you could ride in a taxi for 90 minutes for 40,000 won, but they will ask you for that even if its a 5 minute drive. I'm not 100% sure whats best to do in this scenario so if any koreans can help out please leave a comment. Personally, I was able to find a driver who would take me anywhere for 15-20,000 won each time.
  
• always bring AT LEAST 2 credit cards (1 visa, 1 MC for example), most places my first CC would work fine, but many times it would not work and I had to use a different CC. Also ALWAYS have adequate cash on you in case all your cards fail.
  
• there are almost NO public garbage cans in korea (private property like malls is no problem), so most people leave their trash anywhere or in piles on the side of the street. I would bring a small trash bag to carry around if you dont like littering.
  
• if you quickly need smaller bills and don't want to go around stores asking for change, there are arcades almost everywhere especially at major tourist zones, and they all have "change dispensers" that can turn 50,000 won notes into 10,000s, and 10,000s into 1000s, and even 1000s into 500 coins if you need
  
• when calling a taxi on KakaoTaxi its best to wait at a place thats easy to pick you up. For example on the correct side of the main road, otherwise the taxi may have to do several loops to get to you and in some cases to avoid doing this the driver may try to message or call you, and if you dont know Korean then you cannot respond and no one likes a grumpy taxi driver. Also, its simply cheaper and faster for you
  
• at many tourist places (ESPECIALLY at the fish market), vendors will try to convince you to come buy at their stall or come into their restaurant etc. Personally, I have dealt with a lot of this overseas and will simply ignore them and continue walking and would recommend you do as well. There are plenty of vendors who are not pushy with cheapebetter products.
  
• if using the KTX high speed train to get from city to city, remember to prebook your tickets on the korail website up to 30 days before the trip, also remember they are not return tickets so you must book both trips separately.
  

Random thoughts:

• you will probably spend more cash than you think. This is one thing I wasn't prepared for as everyone was saying you basically don't need cash. If you're like me and enjoy streetfood and arcades, etc, then it would be good to get a good chunk of cash out, especially since your CCs could fail and you may need to pay in cash. Traveling with myself and my girlfriend we still ended up spending about $600+ CAD during the trip
  
• as early as 2 months ago I saw comments saying myeongdong was "still dead", and I don't know how it was pre pandemic, but when I was there it was extremely busy. To the point you had to constantly stop and wait for people to keep walking through.
