2023.06.03 17:42 HappyColors2023 Basic question, how do I set up my internet for work from home with a roommate?
Hello, I work from home and currently live in my own place. Due to costs I need to move in with a roommate, which I will likely end up renting a room in someone’s house.
I work from home full time and normally wifi would be easy peasy. However, my workplace is adamant about us having the blue Ethernet cable attached to the router. They check constantly to make sure we’re not going off home wifi.
Due to distance, privacy, and respect of my future roommates I don’t think I can just walk in and be like “I need to plug into your router”
The easiest solution to this would just to get my own internet router, it’s an expense I can afford.
However, the biggest roadblock with this is the outlet. I won’t even have an outlet to plug the router into. I know it needs a special wall outlet, but most houses only have one of those outlets.
In this case what do I do?

2023.06.03 17:31 wilzxsunwileseason Gaming Build with 7800X3D & RTX 4090. 4000 USD Budget.
Greetings! Thank you for reading. Any help is appreciated!
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
- For a friend, who hopes to play graphically demanding AAA games smoothly in 3440 x 1440 175Hz, with Ultra settings and perhaps ray tracing.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
- Main Tower: 4,000 USD
- No peripherals or monitors needed for now.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
- The main tower only. No OS, peripherals, or monitors needed for now.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
- Hong Kong, no Microcenter, but we have similar retailers that provide similar products and services.
- Parts are mostly available here, but prices might differ from where you live. Please feel free to share your ideal list disregarding the local prices since they fluctuate a bit. The current budget covers this and is flexible.
- The current build costs around 4,200 USD in my area, but purchasing locally is quite necessary due to warranty restrictions, since most if not all products will not be eligible for support if I purchase them overseas. The adjusted 4,000 USD budget is based on the US prices.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
- All parts except the main tower is ready.
- Monitor: Alienware AW3423DW
- Keyboard: Logitech G G913 LIGHTSPEED
- Mouse: Logitech G G903 LIGHTSPEED (with POWERPLAY)
- SSD: Samsung 980 Pro 2TB PCIe Gen4x4 M.2 2280, for OS
- SSD: ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 2TB PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280, for general storage
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
- Yes. Minor adjustments for both the CPU and GPU to squeeze out some extra performance. Efficiency and acoustics are more important. Might tinker slightly with guides and tools. Have basic understanding but not really looking to push anything to the extreme.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
- Looking to have 2 2TB M.2 SSD, one for system, applications, and games, and one for general storage, which both are ready.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
- Looking for a large case with good noise isolation, maybe one with an emphasis on low noise levels. Low-noise cooling solutions. White or light grey case and parts are preferred. No fancy lighting required, but won't mind if customizable and tasteful.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Extra info or particulars:
- Looking for the max performance out of the budget, but also trying to push for a mostly-white build to a certain degree. Aiming for a balance setup that would work well together, and parts that doesn't push too far into the diminishing returns territory.
- Aiming for 64GB RAM since my friend often multitasks and uses plenty of browser tabs for reference.
- Planning to include CableMod 12VHPWR 180 Degree Angled Adapter – Variant B, CableMod Pro ModMesh 12VHPWR Cable Extension Kit, and Noctua NA-SEC1/3 chromax.black (fan extension cables), which together will cost about 100 USD.
- Admittedly this build might be a bit of an overkill, but my friend is splurging a little bit as a treat.

2023.06.03 16:19 sirticklemeelmo Picked up an MK2(?) For free
I lucked out and was able to snag an MK2 for free. After some TLC it seems like it's in pretty good shape. It's hard to tell but I think the bed came with a coating from the factory? If so, it's been sanded off...that's the only "issue" I've found. I've done some PLA+ prints on painters tape with glue stick and it seems to be sticking surprisingly well. Printing with rafts suck (bottom layer of the print is trash, rest of the print is great), no raft prints warp on the corners, did one with a brim and that seems like the best so far.
First thing is the slicer blows lol. I'm used to cura and I feel like 3/4 of the issues I had getting the thing going would have been easily resolved with cura. I can't seem to find any clear info on if you can get the MK2 to work with cura. Is there a way? As long as it doesn't cost much money I'm game to try it.
Second thing, In addition to PLA I would like to set this up to print TPU. My ender 3 is setup for PETG and does not have a direct drive extruder. Is the MK2 capable enough in its stock form (no heated bed) to run TPU?
Third thing, does the MK2 have wifi? I see there is some sort of antenna on the back of it but I have no idea how to check if it does.
Fourth (and final) thing, is there a place to get parts for these things? Everything I'm seeing is an older website with a lot of "out of stock", it doesn't seem like there is anything but the cetus 2 on the teirtime/cetus3d website.

2023.06.03 15:46 Eclipseof2v1 HomeKit / SmartThings advice and woes
Good day fellow Redditor,
I am seeking some guidance and support with a recent entry into the world of HomeKit.
A few days ago I purchased a pair of HomeKit receptacles to control a pair of bedroom lamps, and that lit the fire and urge to move to HomeKit and expand automation in my home. I’m hooked. I bought a 4K Apple TV Ethernet to act as the home hub.
But here’s where it went sideways.
I have been using Yale Assure SL Z-Wave+ door locks on 3 of the doors to my house. I have been using SmartThings to control. Not overly impressed, set a couple of automations using ITTT to lock the doors at certain times, etc.
I purchased 3 Yale Wi-Fi modules to replace the Z-Wave modules I had installed as HomeKit doesn’t recognize Z-Wave. The modules also came with Yale Doorsense to monitor if the doors were fully closed. Neat.
I installed the modules, drilled the holes in my door frames for the sensors, and learned that the Wi-Fi modules were eating the batteries and would need to be replaced every 6 weeks. Not cool. One of the locks despite multiple factory resets would recognize in the Yale Access app and then go unresponsive. Annoying. I then found out that the Doorsense modules were not recognized in HomeKit, only in the clunky Yale Access app. Rats.
At this point, I was frustrated and decided to go back to what worked. I reinstalled to the Z-Wave modules, and removed the sensors from the doors, leaving holes in some nice wood frames. Damn.
I have done some research and have seen that a Thinka hub would bridge SmartThings to HomeKit, but it’s very cost prohibitive ($500+).
Further research suggested to use Google Home/Assistant as that application allowed integration with SmartThings. I linked accounts and the locks didn’t show up. I found out that was because Google Home doesn’t support door locks.
I reset the Apple TV, packaged it up along with the Wifi modules and door sensors.
So, it’s been a ride, and I’m at a loss.
I’m open to any and all suggestions on how to automate my current setup. It seems like it’s still the Wild West of consumer grade automation and my current items don’t play well together.

2023.06.03 15:23 vandalimism Guide to Synthetic Fude (Cruelty-Free, Vegan Makeup Brushes)
| Guide to Synthetic Fude by vandalimism All links are non-affiliated and are included for citing references. I created this guide because I couldn’t find a comprehensive overview of synthetic fude (which refers to, in this context, artisanal makeup brushes)—a proper niche within a niche. Thus, I have compiled a list of makeup brush lines that are from OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers make products for other brands) and are 100% synthetic. The consensus is that synthetics are for liquids/creams, while animal hairs are for powders. Brush lines with natural and synthetic fibers typically reserve a pure or blended mix of synthetic fibers for lip, eyeliner, eyebrow, and liquid/cream face brushes. Consequently, drugstore synthetic brushes may be satisfactory for these use cases. However, the smoothness and stiffness of synthetic fibers result in poor performance with powder cosmetics and scratchiness on a sensitive face respectively. By exploring a selection of fude that use the latest synthetic fiber technology, I intend to guide readers seeking a better experience from their current synthetic brushes. In addition, I hope to see more fude enthusiasts create posts or videos dedicated to reviewing their synthetic fude collection since there’s a lack of such content on the internet. Information from My Blush Betty, Jackson's Art, Kingyin, etc. is used as preliminary research on synthetic makeup brushes' history and current landscape. The lack of cuticles in synthetic fibers means that they don't retain as much powder but also bacteria as animal hair; the resiliency of synthetic fibers also means that they can withstand frequent washings, leading to a more hygienic makeup routine. The primary goals in development are better powder absorption by texturizing and crimping synthetic fiber and to be more eco-friendly by relying less on fossil fuels. The unstable supply of fur and customer ethical concerns has dramatically increased the demand for synthetic alternatives to natural hair. In addition, the availability sections were written from an American perspective, which might have excluded some international options. Review of Uyeda Bisyodo Shiori Eye Brushes (CDJapan) It took 11 business days for me to receive my brushes (purchased with my own money) from CDJapan. The website was easy to navigate, but there was no option to filter for all makeup brushes in a synthetic material. I used an approximately $3 off coupon, and the threshold for free shipping was around $90. Fude Beauty and Fude Japan also carried the Uyeda Bisyodo Shiori series; however, their minimums for free shipping were too high i.e. at least $300 for my budget. Beautylish did not have the brand in its inventory. I also attempted to make an account for CDJapan but never received an email verification in my inbox or spam folder. So, I had to use the guest checkout and forwent points that I could have used in a future purchase for a discount. I still received shipping and invoice emails, so I knew I didn't mistype my email address. If I felt strongly about the points, I would've contacted their customer service but honestly didn't mind. The brushes also came with CDJapan's 1-year warranty on makeup brushes, which signaled confidence in quality. Description of UB Shiori Brushes Name | Shape | General Use | S-504 | Large Angled | Contour eye and nose | S-505 | Pencil | Precisely apply eyeshadow on the inner corner, uppelower lashlines, etc. | S-507 (the bigger version of S-508) | Large Shader | Quickly apply a wash of eyeshadow all over the eyelid | S-508 (the smaller version of S-507) | Small Shader | Apply eyeshadow below the eyelid crease, deepen the outer thirds, etc. | S-509 | Smudge | Apply eyeshadow as diffused eyeliner from the inner corner to the wing | Visual Comparison of UB Shiori Brushes to Similar Brushes Comparison of UB Shiori Brushes to RT Brushes UB's Characteristic | Result | Comments | More precisely bundled | More precise application of eyeshadow, which is helpful near the lashlines | The quality control from being hand-made by skilled artisans sets synthetic fude apart from drugstore options and is the primary reason for the cost. There are fewer stray hairs to accidentally poke the eye. | Denser | Absorb more powder, which means fewer re-applications of pigment to get desired opacities | People with difficulty getting colors to show on their skin tone may find that denser brushes can apply eyeshadow in a much more reasonable time. | More flexible fibers | Less "pokey" experience i.e. less pushback when using more pressure, which means less irritation for sensitive skin | The use of flexible fibers is apparent in shorter bristles. For example, I find the longer-haired RT 402 to be soft but any of the RT eye brushes to be pokey. I need to be mindful of holding RT eye brushes at certain angles and pressure to use them on my eyelids. To offset the stiffness of synthetic fibers, drugstore brushes are sometimes bundled in a tapered shape e.g. RT 402 so that as many of the finer-tipped ends can contact the face; but this can also limit the brush shapes that give a soft experience. | Brass ferrule | Brass is less prone to rust than aluminum, which may result in longer brush life | My decade-old aluminum-ferruled RT brushes haven't developed rust anyway. Brass feels more hefty and luxurious than aluminum. | After testing on my eyelids and fingertips, these are the softest brushes that I've ever used. Even with pressure, UB brushes don't feel as rough and exfoliating as RT brushes i.e. there is less audible "bristle" noise during use. Despite being denser than the RT brushes, UB brushes still feel softer due to having more flexible bristles. In comparison to my natural-haired BB Eyeshadow brush, UB brushes feel slightly slicker (but still much less slick than RT brushes). BB's and UB's fiber densities and flex feel similar. My assessment of these brushes may be hindered by my relatively small collection of brushes. As a result, I can only compare expensive synthetic fude to mostly drugstore synthetic brushes. In addition, my RT and BB brushes are more than a decade old, and I have used my UB brushes for only two months (at the time of writing). I don't intend to purchase natural hair brushes, so I won't be able to compare natural hair to synthetic fude in the future. I will also update the guide as I collect more synthetic fude and if readers suggest any corrections or give additional information. Feel free to discuss your experiences, good or bad, with synthetic fude in the replies! submitted by vandalimism to MakeupAddiction [link] [comments] |
2023.06.03 14:59 wilzxsunwileseason Please review my build! 7800X3D & RTX 4090. 4000 USD Budget.
Greetings! Thank you for reading. Any help is appreciated!
Intended Use for the Build:
- For a friend, who hopes to play graphically demanding AAA games smoothly in 3440 x 1440 175Hz, with Ultra settings and perhaps ray tracing.
Build Budget:
- Main Tower: 4,000 USD
- No peripherals or monitors needed for now.
Location:
- Hong Kong, no Microcenter, but we have similar retailers that provide similar products and services.
- Parts are mostly available here, but prices might differ from where you live. Please feel free to share your ideal list disregarding the local prices since they fluctuate a bit. The current budget covers this and is flexible.
- The current build costs around 4,200 USD in my area, but purchasing locally is quite necessary due to warranty restrictions, since most if not all products will not be eligible for support if I purchase them overseas. The adjusted 4,000 USD budget is based on the US prices.
Draft of Potential Build:
PCPartPicker Part List
Build Remarks:
- AMD 7800X3D is selected for the relatively lower TDP and good gaming performance. From my understanding, an updated BIOS would greatly lower the risk of the CPU failings recently reported.
- Looking for a large case with good noise isolation, maybe one with an emphasis on low noise levels. Low-noise cooling solutions. White or light grey case and parts are preferred. No fancy lighting required, but won't mind if customizable and tasteful.
- Looking for the max performance out of the budget, but also trying to push for a mostly-white build to a certain degree. Aiming for a balance setup that would work well together, and parts that doesn't push too far into the diminishing returns territory.
- Planning to include CableMod 12VHPWR 180 Degree Angled Adapter – Variant B, CableMod Pro ModMesh 12VHPWR Cable Extension Kit, and Noctua NA-SEC1/3 chromax.black (fan extension cables), which together will cost about 100 USD.
Reusing Parts:
- All parts except the main tower is ready.
- Monitor: Alienware AW3423DW
- Keyboard: Logitech G G913 LIGHTSPEED
- Mouse: Logitech G G903 LIGHTSPEED (with POWERPLAY)
- SSD: Samsung 980 Pro 2TB PCIe Gen4x4 M.2 2280, for OS
- SSD: ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 2TB PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280, for general storage
Additional Details:
- Aiming for 64GB RAM since my friend often multitasks and uses plenty of browser tabs for reference.
- Admittedly this build might be a bit of an overkill, but my friend is splurging a little bit as a treat.
Last but definitely not least, thank you for reading my post. Would love to have some feedback and suggestions! Do share your thoughts and correct me if I made any mistakes.
Cheers!

2023.06.03 14:42 heaveninblack Help finishing a 1440p gaming build
Hey, I'm looking to build a gaming PC for my friend. I've already purchased a 7600x cpu, MERC 6950 xt, and Super Flower Leadex 850 W so those need to be part of the build. Thank you for any recommendations and I apologize if I messed up the formatting. I also put together a list of parts but I'm not confident in much besides the CPU cooler.
1. What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games (ex: resolution, FPS, settings) or programs you will be using.
Gaming at 1440p and web browsing.
2. What is your maximum PRE-TAX budget before rebates and shipping?
$2200
3. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Within the next week or so.
4. What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ex: toweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Tower
5. If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? How old are they? Brands and models are appreciated.
Peripherals and Monitor but they are old, good deals on new ones would be appreciated but not necessary. 7600x, Merc 6950 xt and Super Flower Leadex 850 W already purchased
6. Will you be overclocking (ex: CPU/GPU/RAM)? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line?
Not interested except for easy, simple OCing I can do for them
7. Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSDs, mass HDDs, Wi-Fi / Bluetooth, VR, VirtualLink, tensor cores, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc.)
2 TB SSD.
8. Do you have any specific case preferences (ex: mITX/mATX/mid-towefull-tower sizes, styles, colours, window or not, LED lighting, etc.), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Something simple, cost effective and ideally easy to install and manage cables. Likely full size tower. RGB not needed.
9. Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? Note: some post-secondary students can get Windows 10 for free at OnTheHub or through their school's IT software distribution department.
No
10. Will you be upgrading this PC in the future (ie: will you swap out better parts later on or will you build an entirely new tower later)? If so, when?
Hoping to upgrade CPU and GPU in around 4-5 years.
11. Do you have a brand preference? (ex: AMD/Intel for CPUs, AMD/NVIDIA for video cards, etc.)
No

2023.06.03 14:36 MarcCDB API Gateway + Lambdas vs standard containers
Hey guys. I started working in this company recently and they have this habit of deploying everything into AWS as Lambdas, using API Gateways, for everything. They say it's because of cost. I come from a world of developing your own solution, putting into a container and deploying in something Iike EKS, having Kubernetes managing the pods, etc... I'm not a devops expert but I would like to understand their approach, whether it's something common in other companies as well. I understand that a service that runs on demand only is cheaper using Lambdas than to have it running 24/7, but they do this for literally everything.

2023.06.03 13:48 LostPurple3574 I got 1000 Upvotes here last week grabe! Answering your questions to achieve what I have now.
Hey guys! Really overwhelmed with your comments of support, really really happy to receive a positive feedback with everyone.
I am the one who made this post: https://www.reddit.com/phinvest/comments/13vc18u/you_guys_did_this_to_me_with_your_advices/ With that, I am happy to share answers to your questions on the comment sections. Please take everything with a grain of salt as all our based on my experience, different advices, and my take on it as I assess it on my knowledge, capability, and situation.
So the question is, how was I able to achieve a bit of financial confidence in me as a young 20 year old guy years ago? (I am 28 right now)
To give more background, I am from a poor family. I paid for my education by working as a BPO employee, I had nothing and I experienced na makitulog sa kaibigan just to have a shelter. But I never gave up
Let's say you are like me, you have a good education but you just graduated and you don't know what to do.
Once you start working, you are going to realize that salaries between 20-40k is pretty low for a COMFORTABLE LIFESTYLE (Sorry I won't sugar coat)
You wanted to have a good lifestyle, a good stable income, a good demand with your expertise, and extra fund monthly to do side business, investments, or simply enjoy life. You can also plan out getting your first car in this.
With that, here are things that you should know or consider to do:
- Get job experience - This is pretty basic but I believe some people undervalue the importance of this, a lot of people wanted to jump from nothing to a high salary quickly but the question is, what can you offer? Why will a company pay you that much? What can you contribute? You see, it is very important to get actual work experience first and your next decision will be based from what you are feeling and seeing with your current industry. I am not a fan of average work as I like to be someone who is great in what I do. Because remember, Average effort can only produce average results
- Augment Your Skillset - What exactly do I mean by augmenting your skills? It can be as someone who is good in spreadsheets and data, similar to accounting or statistics. But the question is, how can you get paid good with that type of knowledge? Learn new skills that is complimenting your current skills - Learn coding or programming in which can transition your expertise from just knowing accounting/data skills and become a data scientist, it can also be something like you being a digital marketer but knowing how to use different skills like email marketing, eCommerce Softwares, Copywriting, and many more! You get the idea, how can you make yourself valuable to your clients/company.
- Decide what kind of lifestyle will you be comfortable sustaining - Decide which lifestyle you are willing to spend on that will give you comfort, security, and focus on what you want to achieve. This is very important as I have experienced it recently, not being in an environment that you want would make you do less. Point is, you can't really spend less with the lifestyle that you want. Its a matter of earning more instead of just focusing on bigger savings. If 50k is your comfort level, then earn more to save more. Wala eh, magastos talaga yung comfort mo. Again, living frugally na di maayos will just make you distracted and uninspired.
- Focus on increasing your earning power - Its just pretty common na most people starts with "Ano pwede investan? "San pwede mag invest?", while it is a good way to start knowing about investing but a lot did not consider EARNING POWER. Remember, if we just talk about Mutual Funds for example na mag gain ka ng 8-10% yearly, if you only have 10k to invest thats only 800-1000 php gain. Now, you can start investing naman but the most important thing is to increase your earning power. Investing 1000 php monthly can only give you little gain kahit ano pa yan to be quite frank. Kahit maayos na start yan if you want to achieve more you should focus increasing earning power. Ano to? Salary increase, more clients on the side, bigger role na may bigger pay talaga. Connected yung 5 ko dito.
- You are the asset - Yes, you are the asset. It means invest in yourself. Why will clients and company pay you a high level salary if you are just someone na makikita lang kaagad skillset? is it a matter of exploited agad na mababa pay mo? No, its just reality na you are irreplaceable. You have to be someone na valueable sa company. Make yourself valuable enough na loss ng company pag di ka nila nahire or if you leave them. Build that portfolio, compile your achievements, become outstanding. Pero even with this, don't get exploited parin and take care of yourself. I am not talking about overworking, just invest more in knowledge, experience, and expertise.
- Budgeting - This goes different for everyone, but for me nilalabas ko agad yung expenses ko before mag start yung month. Example June ngayon, nilabas ko na expense ko nung May last week. I have budgeted my rent, electricity, wifi, food, leisure, gas, car expenses. etc. All of these are cash or nakahilaway na sa main bank ko where I keep my money, EF, investments. I have a specific bank account/digital wallet for spending and a wallet organizer with multiple categories (Food, Gas, Parking, Groceries) meaning, yun lang pwede ko gastusin. Di ko gagalawin yung pera ko sa bank, yung tinabi ko lang for this month. I do the same process every single month
- Saving and Investing - Pay yourself first, before mag start month ko again nakabudget na, kasama na doon savings and investment ko. If you have good income na, decide mo magkano savings mo and investment and bawas mo na agad sa gastusin mo. Remember, Income - Savings = Expenses. Not the other way around. Make sure to also build an EF (Emergency Fund, for example 20k monthly cost of living mo then you should have at least 120k for emergency at buhay ka for 6 months without income if may emergency.)
- Insurances - Sorry, but don't get VUL. Do that math and you'll see, compare mo din health/life benefits niya vs traditional insurances. Traditional parin talaga, investment-wise naman mas madali pa mag invest sa ETFs/Mutual Fund. Based on my own exp and research to, shitty VUL. haha, get a 10-20 year payable life insurance to protect your health in case of emergencies.
- Learn about investing vehicles - Learn about putting your money sa stocks or as simple as putting money sa mp2 pag ibig, mutualfunds and ETFs. Invest at your own risk, make sure to study first. I wont really give an advice here besides LEARN IT!
- Invest in yourself mentally and physically - So lahat ng ginagawa mo sa buhay worth it ba? You are not an endless self-improvement project. Yes we still do a lot of effort to achieve excellent results pero end of the day you have to enjoy life with your loved ones and kahit ikaw lang din mismo. You are not climbing the mountain to say "I AM HERE AT THE TOP" but for you to see the world. Take care of yourself mentally and physically, enjoy and live a long life.
I hope may napulot kayong aral or something na pwede niyo i-start, will be leaving multiple links sa post na to sa mga threads na pinost at finollow ko before. Best of luck everyone!

2023.06.03 13:06 Lurker_81 Ethernet Zigbee gateway
I need some advice on the best way to improve the reliability of my Zigbee network.
I have been using Zigbee2MQTT and a Sonoff Zigbee bridge (ESP8266 running Tasmota and Zbbridge profile) which connects to the Wi-Fi network to send Zigbee traffic to the server. A network bridge was chosen as my HASS server is sited in the hobby room in my shed, some 30m away from my house, and linked via Gigabit ethernet to the house.
The results have been pretty mixed - some devices work fine for weeks and months, others refuse to connect, and still others drop off the network or become unresponsive after a few days or weeks. Given that most of the hardware is within 10m and has line of sight to the Zigbee bridge, I'm leaning towards laying blame for my issues on the bridge.
A USB-based dongle is pretty much non-viable due to the distance from shed to house. I don't think it's even worth considering. So I need some kind of ethernet or WiFi solution.
I have seen various Zigbee ethernet devices which claim to run Tasmota and are compatible with Home Assistant and Z2MQTT (here's an example of one:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005265111245.html) on AliExpress, but I am reluctant to try another "cheap" solution without any feedback.
On the other hand, I'm also reluctant to spend 2-4x the money on the Athom Zigbee gateway, SMLIGHT SLZB-06 or TubesZB devices if there's a cheaper alternative that can work well.
Can anyone offer advice on the best way to move forward?
