2023.05.28 18:15 EmotionalZebra868 How to emotionally handle retiring your horse when you’re not ready

My horse is about 22 years old and has had a history of front end lameness. I bought him as a 12 year and we kept him pretty consistently sound and doing a low hunter job until he was about 19.
At 19, I was having more trouble keeping him comfortable while jumping, so made the decision to do flat only. It was hard and bittersweet because he did love jumping and was an fantastic teacher, but I didn’t want to risk his health. He was still off/on again but we found out at this point he has some LF coffin joint arthritis that was starting to become more of a chronic issue.
At 21, he was diagnosed with a mild injury to his RF DDFT after becoming quite lame with no improvement. We ended up changing the shoes, doing shockwave, and rest no riding for about 6 months. I slowly brought him back to work in April of this year as a 22 year old and he felt amazing to start. And then the off and on again soundness started up again. Came to the conclusion it wasn’t the DDFT but the arthritis in the LF coffin. I have him scheduled for an Osphos injection this week, but now the hocks feel sticky, so I have a feeling I’ll have to do those as well if the Osphos doesn’t end up helping the hocks as well, but I don’t want to do too much for him at once. I’ve also spent so much on vet bills for him this year that it’s hard financially.
I’ve started to feel really sad and discouraged about the whole thing because I have a feeling I may get only about a year or so out of him before likely he’s walk only or completely retired. I also feel like I want to try everything to keep him sound but financially it’s difficult; I spent almost 6k last year in vet bill diagnostics. I also don’t know what will even work for him at this point anymore. I feel like I’m throwing my wallet at anything with a chance to keep him sound.
I’ve also decided to start taking some lessons on school horses to scratch the itch of doing more riding wise but it just makes me more upset, and make me miss riding MY horse more. I watch videos of us from years ago constantly and feel incredibly sad that it’s not how it used to be. I’m happy I can still ride him even a little, but it’s not the same, and seeing him in videos fit and young versus age slowly taking over him now is hard. I also can only take lessons occasionally as it’s already tight with my budget for rent, board, vet etc without adding a weekly lesson in the mix, so I feel like I can’t really improve because I can’t go consistently.
I am also feeling discouraged as I’d love to find another horse to own, but the market is so inflated I can’t fathom finding a horse within that budget, let alone keep up with rising cost of board. For context, I bought my horse in 2014 for $4500; something of his level at which I bought him I couldn’t get now for less than 25K. I fear that after him, I wouldn’t be able to have another horse, at least not for awhile, and although it may be nice to take a short break from the expenses and responsibilities, I would miss it.
It’s hard. I just want my old horse back and I’m thrilled to still have him with me, but I can’t help feeling sad about the future of me not being able to ride him, and miss how things used to be.

2023.05.28 18:11 autotldr U.S., Saudi Arabia call for extended ceasefire in Sudan

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 67%. (I'm a bot)
Clashes could be heard overnight and on Sunday in the capital Khartoum, residents said, while human rights monitors reported deadly fighting in El Fashir, one of the principal cities in the western region of Darfur.
More than 300,000 people have crossed Sudan's borders since the fighting erupted, with the largest numbers heading north to Egypt from Khartoum or west to Chad from Darfur.
The truce deal has brought some respite from heavy fighting but sporadic clashes and air strikes have carried on.
Violence has flared in several parts of Darfur, already scarred by conflict and displacement, with hundreds of deaths recorded in El Geneina near the border with Chad during attacks that residents blamed on "Janjaweed" militias drawn from Arab nomadic tribes with links to the RSF. The governor of Darfur, Minni Minawi, a former rebel whose faction fought against the militias in the Darfur conflict, said in a tweet that citizens should take up arms to defend their property.
In recent days there has also been fighting in El Fashir, capital of North Darfur State.
One El Fashir hospital had recorded three deaths and 26 injuries on Saturday, including children, according to the Darfur Bar Association, an activist group.

2023 Camry Nightshade Riddled With Cosmetic Issues
So, I’ll start by saying I bought this car on 4/14/23. It’s the second car I’ve owned and the first one that was brand new off the lot. The day I took it home, I was shining it up in my driveway to take some pictures and noticed that there were tons of marks on the clear coat all over the hood and sides of the car. In addition, the passenger side fog light cover accent piece was bent outwards. Upon taking a closer look, I found that there was a ton of damage that wasn’t really super visible unless it was in the right light. Dents, missing paint, and even a gouge in the material that goes all the way down to the plastic bumper cover. I took it back to the dealership and they said I can bring it back the following Monday for their dent specialist. I did that, and all they really did was buff the car. It took away the superficial marks, but they completely missed the damage on my bumper. Some managers came out to take a look and said they’d order the accent piece and they’d let me know when it comes in. Two weeks go by and I contacted the guy that sold me the car. He gave me some (probably) bs story about how the part came but it was broken so they ordered it again. Two more weeks go by and I ask again, to which he basically said “oh yeah, parts department has the part. I’ll get service to give you a call.” Fast forward three more days and finally the service manager calls me to schedule. I go in first thing the next morning, sit around for two hours, and then they call me back to point out where the rest of the damage is since they can’t find it. I pointed everything out to the service guy. He takes a look and says the car has probably been in a low speed collision, either on the lot or from transport to the dealership. Also, two marks that I thought were just scratches are likely stress cracks. We took that info back to the service manager, the sales manager, AND the general manager. General manager wants to have me bring the car in for paintless dent repair. I say that’s not gonna fly, I want it all replaced. He says they’ll contact me when they figure something out. Finally, three days later the service manager (bless her heart, she feels my pain) calls and says they ordered a whole new bumper and sent it to their Subaru dealership to be painted. It should be about 2 more weeks.
I wish that was the end of the story, but it goes deeper. I stopped to get gas for the second time (there’s only 603 miles on the ODO) last night. I pop my fuel door and see a huge paint chip right under where the door sits. I take a closer look and see that there’s damage on the top and bottom of the fuel door, as well as on the actual car body where it’s been contacting. I didn’t notice this the first time I got gas, but I was in a big rush. I know for a fact that I didn’t cause any of the paint damage. I think the fitment of the fuel door isn’t quite right since it rubs a little but on the top when I push it back into place. At this point, I don’t even know who to blame. A little over 38k for a car that was supposed to be brand new, and I just keep finding more issues with it. I told the dealership and haven’t really gotten a reply yet. What would you do? My family told me to take it back and demand a different car, but I just can’t give this thing up. Nightshade edition, reservoir blue, and AWD. I’ve been wanting this exact car for like 7 months and I jumped on it when it finally turned up at a dealership. I’m super frustrated because all I want is for this to be fixed so I can get PPF and a ceramic coating. Any words of wisdom or advice?

2023.05.28 18:09 deepcutfilms Homebrewing some mechanics. Would love some feedback.

Somewhat new to TTRPG’s so I’m sure these mechanics exist somewhere BUT
Trying to homebrew some fun new mechanics. First: or doesn’t make a ton of sense in DnD that your pc operates at the same efficiency at 1HP vs at full HP. 1 HP is essentially nearly dead so I don’t think you’d be swinging a sword as effectively if you could barely stand so I was thinking of maybe there’s a penalty somewhere if you fall below 75/50/25% HP that gets worse the farther down you go. Maybe just a -1 each tier to attack rolls. Affecting AC or defensive stats would be super lethal.
Likewise, there could also/or be a fun concept for a desperation mechanic, where you actually get stronger as you go lower in health. These two mechanics could work together if the desperation mechanic could be expendable. Like say, you have three expendables called “XYZ” or whatever. And they can behave like Luck points or maybe Bardic inspirations where you can use them only after you’re under 25% health or maybe under 50%. You can use one XYZ to re-roll an attack or ability check, or inflict mass damage on an attack, etc etc, or just add a D4/D6 to it.
And thirdly one I definitely want to add is some sort of Scar mechanic, where, if you go down to 0 HP at any point, you do not come back unscathed. I just don’t know how lethal I want to make this. For instance, coming back from 0 HP could just inflict a level of exhaustion. It’s hard not dying. But if you’re rolling from a table of Scars the range could be crazy, from a level of exhaustion to losing an eye or an arm. I just don’t know how I’d feel drastically changing a players game experience by looping off his PC’s fighting arm.
Anyway, thoughts? I’m sure these probably exist somewhere across the TTRPG world already in some form.

2023.05.28 18:08 bearvert222 AI Fear as an Outgrowth of Values

I think AI fear is so pernicious here not so much because of AI itself, but because rationalists among others hold implicit values that it targets. To use a pop culture example, serial killer films in the 70s are effective because of the increased value of individualism and self-empowerment then; people perceive the dark side of those values if unconsciously.
i can think of four values from hanging around this scene and reddit in general that it hits.
1. Human beings are or should be governed by impersonal or abstract forces. A common thing i see here is this. Rationalists tend to view solutions or causes on a force level; a man is made by his environment, and the wisdom of a crowd is better than that of a man. Rationalists approach the world through statistics, not literature.
2. Intelligence is a moral good and the best measure of an individual's potential. Hence the endless focus on IQ. I use an an analogy to height to show the difference.
Like height, intelligence is a quality that is biological to a point. But intelligence is held to an almost moral standard, whereas when people try to do so to height (i only date 6"0' and up!) we rebel against it as absurd. We dislike "tall people will have a better potential life than short people."
For some reason it has moved into a good in itself. To be short is just life; to not be smart is a failure.
3. The highest self-actualization is in high-status, meaningful work.
i think as we become more atomized, work increasingly fills people's lives as the sole bestower of value. Even work-substitutes do; video games are popular more and more as comparative status and meaning; you are ranked and you grind in them as much as play and ppl hunt achievements and trophies.
4. An ideal man is machine-like in a sense. Objective, dispassionate, and standardized. What I mean is a man strives to produce photographs and not drawings; he should view the world according to natural laws or objective reality and strive to eliminate bias or personality. Things like abstract art are anathema; machines do not have a subjective life.
AI fear in particular hits these things hard.
  1. It is impersonal force embodied. Namely, how dependent we are on technology that we fear moves us, not is moved by us. It fuses a deity with an impersonality as if one day a God of evolution showed up.
  2. It is ten times "smarter" than us by the metrics we use, even though it isn't smart at all. It both upholds intelligence and destroys it. Think of a chess computer.
  3. It will destroy work as a source of meaning for many people leaving...what, exactly? Most everything else as source of meaning has been discredited or weakened.
  4. You can't outrun a car. People aim to be more rational than other beings. But what happens when you can't? Subjectivity as insurmountable and we become Kirk to a Spock.
i think a lot of ppl get hung up in trying to debate "can AI do X" but the answer is more to debunk the framework. its like one group of Christians debating Jesus is coming back in five years and the other says "no, no man knows the hour." The real fear is in "He finds me wanting/a failure."
anti-fear response:
  1. A man's destiny is in his own hands; statistics do not define us.
  2. Intelligence is just one aspect of humanity and needs to be unvirtued a bit. we've gone too far.
  3. Work cannot be a source of meaning long-term. Competition is making that untenable. New forms of meaning must be found.
  4. Subjectivity is important. A singular human viewpoint also has value. There is also a place for it.
Thoughts?

2023.05.28 18:07 Silent-Army-4687 Is it ok for my girlfriend (19F) to hold secrets from me (21M)

So I've just gotten out a relationship not to long ago. We had broke up because she found out I was texting other females. I know cheating is wrong in all ways but just hear me out. So me and my ex met in march 2021 and we were in love to the point I really truly thought this was it I found who I was looking for, but that wasn't the case. Me and her live in the same city so you'd expect your new girlfriend to be able to do things with you or be able to have you over or she could come over anytime she she wants but, every time I asked if we could do something she'd go around the question or say one thing then boom something pops up now she can't come. It was real difficult to deal with my family was feeling iffy bout her. I saw her a good handful of times but if I can give you a number on how many times I seen her I don't think that's good. I ended up wanting to take a break cause it was going on to long for me not seeing her and i understand people get busy and your not able to see them wen you want , but it wasn't like that. Me and her got back together cause I wasn't tryn give up on her she told me things were gonna be different so I believed that and it had me at ease at the time but things didn't change. I ended up thinking she was lying to me bout her age cause everyone was skeptical bout that, so it became the last straw with me. I ended up texting other girls based off the fact she was holding something from me I didn't like to feel like I was being played with and it was a void I was trying to fill, I never did anything outside of texting tho I never went to another girls house or anything. She wouldn't tell me why I couldn't see her she only said "it'll hurt you if I tell you". I feel as if that you know it'll hurt someone you must tell them then and there cause then it'll become deceit and then a lie. I under stand personal business but secrets aren't personal business especially if you know it'll hurt someone you love. When we broke up she ended up telling me that before me it was another dude she was with. Her family always seen her happy with dude and they wanted her to be with him and no one else, and they ended up messing with each other after we broke up cause they kept in contact while me and her was together she said he only checked on her tho, and that he was outta town pursuing his basketball dream lol. I wouldn't have gotten mad at the fact that there was another dude before me and she was close with him, cause i knew that I had her at that point and honestly I wouldn't have looked at it in the way she thought, but now I'm here feeling wrong for wat I did, like I said I know cheating is wrong but holding secrets is wrong too I feel, she said it was her business and that I should've respected that, wat do yall think?

2023.05.28 18:07 Lolitapop300 My (27F) boyfriend (32M) told me he was not a taxi driver when me and his little sister (21F) were scared to get assaulted.

Hi guys, (Pardon my english, I am french), I need a different perspective on a situation i had yesterday because I am doubting my relationship and I am wondering if I am making things up. Yesterday, me, my boyfriend (lets call him Kevin) and his little sister (lets call her Marianne) went in our hometown which is 2hours and a half away from our current home to meet with friends and have some fun. The plan was that me and Marianne would meet some friends, go eat and then go to a club while he goes see his friends on his side and when we are ready to go back home, we had to text him and he would pick us up in time. The restaurant was great! We had a good time we enjoyed but when we arrive to this club, it went downhill.
We first got there because we heard many good reviews (my boyfriend and some of my friends in that group said good things too) so we trusted that. We were dress properly, (if it matters), we were not were not wearing revealing clothes a tad sexy but not exaggerated , I even wonder on my side if they would let me in because I was dress with clothes i put on everyday. In my city, you can’t go in a club wearing sneakers or wearing jeans, you have to dress a certain way to get in. So we arrived there, and the club, looks trash, it was not the type of club we are used to go. Even my friends were surprised and says that it was not like that when they went before covid. The club was small and jumpack, there was a lot of street members, the guys would touch us when we try to walk in the crowd, they will grab our hands and literally try to convince us to drink with them and they wouldn’t take no for an answer. Fortunately for us, we manage to stay together(no we didn’t drink with guys), but understandably, for these reasons, most of my friend left not without making sure that we were not alone.
So at that point, It was me, Marianne and another friend. I texted my boyfriend at 1:45 am to inform him of the situation and ask him to pick us up, and he said he would be there in 30 minutes. So we waited 20 minutes inside the club, but at some point, we couldn’t take it anymore so we went outside to wait for the remaining ten minutes. Now the guys outside were super aggressive, and wouldn’t take no for an answer. They were more aggressive than inside the club. We were super scared. 10 minutes passed (2:15) and kevin is no were to be found. Therefore, I am trying to call him but he doesn’t pick up the phone. At somepoint 10 minutes later (about, 2:25 am) I literally texted him, for the love of god where are you, there are guys that wont leave us alone please come. This is where he called us. He tell us he will be there in 15-20 minutes because his friends needs a lift to their cars. Mind you they all have their own car, but they decided to use his car to go to a casino that is 15-20 min away. The timing doesnt make sens, It shouldnt have taken that long.
I am pissed but I dont say anything, but I tell him to hurry up, because we don’t feel safe. At some points, our feet hurt, we are physically tired, and as time passed, the guys were more drunk so more aggressive so we decided to go down the street and sit inside a bus shelter.
15-20 minutes passed (around 2:45) and he is still not here. My friend take a cab and go home, so its me and Marianne. Now we have to deal with the crack heads, they started banging on the bus shelter, so we leave this place but they follow us and start calling us name. We are scared as they are supper aggressive. I call my boyfriend, he ignores my call and my text, but when his sister calls, he pick up the phone, and he says he is still with his friend and that he will be here in another 15 minutes. I can hear his friend in the back of his car. I am pissed I am telling him we are scared, and I ask him if he was really coming , he says yes, there is traffic but he’ll be here.
Mind you, there was no sign of any traffic on our side.
Another 15 minutes passed, we are walking, we are cold, so his sister call him, i grab the phone, and I let him know that we are really scared, that we have been waiting after him, we have no where to go (my friends do not live close from where we were) and its been a while now. I told him that I couldn’t trust him to come in time, otherwise we would have made other plans so we dont have to wait alone in the night, that we were scared to get raped, but he woudln’t budge. I asked him, when he knew he had to pick us up tonight, why they didn’t take separate car to go in the casino, (his friends all came with their cars) , he said that I was on speaker phone (with an embarrassed voice) and I shouldn’t say that. His sister, picked up the phone, and even told him 4 times that we were scared.
Now its 3 am, and he still hasn’t showed up, we are super cold, and almost out of battery, and dont know what is happening . We keep on calling him and he says he is close. 15 minutes later, I text my best friend about the situation, and how pissed and scared I am, she is ready to come get us, and finally he arrived. It was 3:15 am . We texted him at 1:45am. There is no way it took that long (1 hour and a half) to come pick us up. Obviously, we get in the car and we are angry. I explain to him what happened and that the fact he was not reliable and prioritized his friends over us put us in a dangerous predicament. Which he answered, that he is not a taxi driver. I didn’t want to say more because his sister were with us but to say that I was shocked would be an under statement. I asked him, what if something would have happened to his little sister or to me, he answered that not his fault if he couldn’t arrive in time, that we should have waited inside the club and then he proceeded to give me attitude for stressing him out.
He is never like that normally, he is the sweetest and such a gentleman but yesterday, I didn’t recognize him.
Was I the AH? Did I overreacted? Am I crazy for feeling the way I am feeling? What would you do after this? I need advice.
Oh and by the way, before someone asked, I didn’t call my friend sooner because every time he said that he would be there in 15-20 minutes, which is faster than the amount of time it would have taken my friend to come pick us up.

2023.05.28 18:06 TeaWithNosferatu How to convince my husband to avoid Opel/Vauxhall

As of a few hours ago, the engine blew in our 09 Vauxhall Astra - ding dong the witch is dead. I've hated this car since we got it 6 years ago. It always seemed to be in and out of the shop, had an ongoing oil leak that even after getting it fixed, seemed to come back, it caused me to fail my roadtest at one point because of a tail-light that was out (literally just after having been replaced). Not to mention, it was pretty ugly.
For the record, we live in Ireland (and don't want to import from the north) and our budget for a new-to-us car is €5 - €6.000 preferably from 2012+.
His uncle that sold us the Astra before is lending us yet another Opel product until we can get a car (or "buy this one!" which he wants €7k for). I believe he said it's a 2015 Opel Insignia.
I'd really, really like to avoid anything Opel and anything Vauxhall because it seems like this car has caused nothing but issues and has been pretty unreliable.
How can I convince my husband that we should get something that doesn't suck so bad and what would a good recommendation be? I've seen plenty of 2012 Mazda 6s for sale. Are these any good?

2023.05.28 18:05 throwawya1244 Pleas help me find an old minecraft youtuber

Sorry if this is too vague in advance. There was this old minecraft youtuber who did a roleplay series. I can't remember the plot, only that one of the members was kicked for constantly changing their skin and later rejoined. There was a kill chamber plot point, as well as an apocalypse at some point and a castle/mansion on the hill. One of the guys also found a plot important sword in a player-made underground temple/dungeon near the start of the series. If I remember anything else I'll edit the post but for now that's it. Like I said at the start, I realize this is vague and will likely not result in an answer

2023.05.28 18:05 hinasilica Looking for baby shower ideas

So my boyfriend and I are in a tough spot with our baby shower. We’re due in December and have decided late September is a good time for the shower. The issue is, we live 900+ miles from any of our family and most of our close friends. We moved to Denver then immediately found out we’re pregnant. Our families haven’t met due to everyone living in different states. Our only idea is to rent a large cabin in the mountains, and split the cost amongst family. So we’re trying to brainstorm more baby shower ideas, I will put our main conflicts and restrictions below let me know if you have any ideas!
Let me know if anyone was in a similar situation and what you did, thank you all!

2023.05.28 18:05 Particular-Panda-627 Recovering Deleted imessages

I have an iPhone 12. Operating with iOS 16.5. I bought the phone in the U.S.
I need to recover deleted iMessages. I am assuming I need to do this without a back up. I do have cloud storage, I have the 200 GB plan. Based on what I have found on the internet, I should be able to do this, correct? I tried doing it via iTunes and it said my phone didn’t have enough memory. I tried using phone paw- it did not recover any deleted messages. I am now trying phone lab, the program appears to be the same as phone paw and it did not recover any deleted messages. Am I trying to do the impossible? Can I pay someone who knows what they are doing to do this for me?
The reason this is important: I have been alienated from my daughter for 10 years. She is finally back in my life. Everything her father had told her is lies. The proof is in my text messages between him and I. I have held onto those messages this whole time, knowing I might need them. At some point in the last year, I accidentally deleted them. Aren’t they in my iCloud somewhere? If it is possible, I need these messages. I would really appreciate any guidance. Thank you in advance for your help.

2023.05.28 18:03 AlternativeShadows [WP] It's been a long friggen day. Someone crashed into your car while you were at work. You lost your last $20. And now you find yourself yelling at a startled looking super villain because "I've just about had it with this BS"

I was messing around with dialogue/script-type writing here. I rather like how the characters talk here.
Here's the link
---------------------------------------------------------
[Audio recording 46-ia] (10/22/34)
John Smith: What, I just talk into this? Is-- do I have to do this?
Agent Matthews: Yes, Mr. Smith. You do.
John Smith: Really? But I have to--I just--can I just go home?
Agent Matthews: Yes, you certainly can, Mr. Smith--
John Smith: Excellent, I'll just be--
Agent Matthews: After you tell us what happened.
[Silence]
John Smith: Fine. Fine. Whatever.
Agent Matthews: Excellent. Now just go ahead and--
John Smith: I just wanted to go home. I had a long day at work. This stupid customer wouldn't leave me alone! She just kept on calling about some stupid--
[Agent Matthews clears his throat]
John Smith: Right, right, okay. So I was just walking down the street because my car broke down because some idiot crashed into it while I was dealing with Karen over there, and by the time I came out to see, they were gone! I tried calling--
[Agent Matthews clears his throat again]
John Smith: Fine! Sorry! ...Anyways. Um. Oh, right. I was walking down Bouquet Avenue to try and find a phone--because I lost my wallet and couldnt use the payphone--so I could--
[Mr. Smith sees Agent Matthews shift in his seat]
John Smith: --And I ran into this super tall guy with a hoodie on. I was pretty pissed off at that point, so I started yelling at him for almost knocking me over, but then I see his eyes. And his eyes are bright red, like basically glowing. So I stop. Because at this point I know that it's Deadeye. I've seen him on the news, and I--well, I was still angry. Because of him I lost my last job, and he killed Gifted, who was my kid's favorite superhero. Do you know what it's like to explain to a kid that the guy who's supposed to be invincible is dead? I mean, I was pretty scared when I heard that. And so I just kind of--I mean, I sort of just screamed at him. And he seemed terrified, for some bizarre reason. And I was so angry that I threw a punch at him. And it landed, and he just... crumpled.
Agent Matthews: Excuse me?
John Smith: I punched him. And he fell over.
Agent Matthews: What? That can't be--you couldn't--you're lying.
John Smith: No, sir. I punched him, and he went unconscious.
Agent Matthews: Mr. Smith, I need the truth. I can't let you go until--
John Smith: That was the truth! And like I said, I just want to go home. Why would I lie?
Agent Matthews: But he's fought so many--he wouldn't just--you have to be lying!
John Smith: Well... there was something else...
Agent Matthews: What was it?
John Smith: I was really, really angry. And I wanted to go home. Can you guess how I feel right now?

2023.05.28 18:03 bbqdorito In light of what (IMO) is a lot of unwarranted criticism against season 2 and the finale, enjoy this "A" review from the AV Club

I really think this season and the finale are widely misunderstood. Fans have expectations and when those expectations aren't met they cry poor writing, plot holes, etc. when the reality is this is only season 2 in a five season arc. Give the story room to breathe. As said by Hattie Lindert in this review,
The real meat of the series has always been the emotional and literal uncertainty of the trauma the survivors shared. Were they pushed to the most primal depths of their psyche or did they reach for them? Did the wilderness make decisions, or did they? And as Lottie so aptly points out in response to Shauna: “Is there a difference?”
For me this story has always been about trauma, and I think this season really proves it. With the risk of sounding pretentious, I really think understanding this show requires a) the ability to engage without distraction, your full undivided attention, phones away and b) a knowledge of how trauma impacts individuals/acknowledging that these characters are experiencing EXTREME trauma that will quite literally ruin them for the rest of their lives. I don't know that this series will bring any character true closure by the end.
So, yes, the teens are no longer particularly "likable", how could they be after everything they have seen and done? And yeah, the adults are unpredictable and irrational. Would you expect anything different from adults whose teenage years were spent in a starved delusional state? Again at the risk of sounding pretentious...a lot of the criticism comes from a lack of empathy and critical thinking.

One potential drawback of the Cowin Apex earbuds is that they use micro-USB instead of USB-C for charging. While this isn't a major issue, it may be an inconvenience for users who prefer the newer USB-C standard.

As with any product, there are pros and cons to consider when it comes to the Cowin Apex earbuds. Here are some of the most notable:

2023.05.28 18:02 mycotroph_ Transporter Biofilters

Are there any instances you've found where the transporter biofilters seem to be... more effective than other times? Is it a plot hole that they don't use it more often? I just imagine, being able to filter the organisms that get transported onto your ship at an atomic level gives you a ton of liberty to just do whatever you want to their molecular structure, even just transport dead bodies and rearticulate them as their living self seems within the realms of possibility. Or, to even use it as a weapon, to say transport your prisoner on board with certain biological restrictions that make them unable to be a threat. It's always been a heated point of Contention in family discussions over TNG, wanted to see if anyone else has pondered this

2023.05.28 18:02 Nerdy_Life My (f37) boyfriend (m46) had a nasty divorce with his ex-wife, How to Cope

TLDR; My boyfriend has drama with his ex wife and I’m being sucked into it via him trying to keep me out of it. How do I politely let him know I can fend for myself if she shows up? She moved into my apartment complex. Kids are involved.
My(f37) boyfriend (m47) had a nasty divorce with his ex (f46) and it has left both with animosity. His rises in situations where me or the kids suffer. I’ve never met her. We’ve been together 2.5 years, including as the divorce was finalized. (It was dragged out for a while due to debates over custody.) They only communicate through an app that stores conversations to avoid sharing phone numbers and of course save the convos.
I have never met his ex. At some point it would appear she hired a PI to follow him. She found out he was coming to my complex. She is under the impression he lives here or is seeing someone here, with the latter being much more likely in her mind. We know she must have hired a PI unless someone randomly follower my bf to my complex. This happened about a year ago. I found out recently that she’s living in my complex, and likely has been for nearly a year. So she knew he was seeing someone here and decided that, despite this, she just had to live here.
He said she did it on purpose because she’s that spiteful.
Now there’s drama because they have 50/50 custody of their younger child (he has full of the older child), so sometimes when we all do something he needs to bring me home. We used to meet at the garage in another building but I needed to be dropped off specifically at my building. He was so afraid his child would narc on my building location that he pulled a u-turn and came up with a plan to prevent it.
He told me if she finds out where I live she’ll make my life hell. First she’ll befriend me then she’ll mess with me.
My take? I don’t care if she shows up? We are going to meet eventually and I need to have thick skin so I will. I just don’t know how to approach my bf. He’s so protective of my feelings in a good way but this situation is unnecessarily stressful.
