“Book Club The Next Chapter” Streaming or in Theaters?
There’s something special about gathering around with friends to discuss a good book. Whether it’s dissecting the characters or debating the plot, it’s a great way to spend an evening. But what if your book club decided to take the next step and discuss a book that’s currently streaming or in theaters? There are a few things to consider before taking this dive. First, is the book still relevant? If it’s a classic novel that’s been adapted to the big screen, then there’s a good chance that the film is still relevant. However, if the book is a more contemporary release, the film may not be as widely-
seen. Second, how well do the film and book compare? In some cases, the film can be a completely different experience from the book. This is often the case with adaptations of best-selling novels, where the film may leave out important plot points or characters in order to condense the story. If this is the case, it may be difficult to have a meaningful discussion about the film. Finally, is there a way to watch the film together? If not, is everyone willing to watch it on their own time? If you’re planning to discuss a film that’s still in theaters, you’ll need to make sure that everyone is able to see it. And if you’re planning to discuss a film that’s streaming, you’ll need to make sure that everyone has access to the streaming service. Taking all of these things into consideration, there’s no right or wrong answer as to whether your book club should discuss a book that’s streaming or in theaters. It’s entirely up to you and your group to decide what you want to do.
“Book Club The Next Chapter” Be Available For Streaming?
Book Club The Next Chapter was one of the first book clubs to be available for streaming. The concept was simple – members would meet online to discuss a book, and then share their thoughts and opinions. It was a great way to connect with other book lovers, and to keep up with the latest releases. Now, with the popularity of streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, it seems like everything is available for streaming. So, is Book Club The Next Chapter still relevant? There are a few things to consider when evaluating whether or not streaming book clubs are a good idea. First, there is the issue of time commitment. It can be difficult to commit to watching a show or movie when you have other obligations, like work or family. With a book club, you can usually read at your own pace and then meet up with the group when it’s convenient for you.
Another factor to consider is cost. Most streaming services require a monthly subscription fee. While some book clubs may have a membership fee, it is usually much lower than the cost of a streaming service. Additionally, many book clubs have options to borrow books from the library, which can save you even more money. Finally, it’s important to think about the quality of the content. When you watch a show or movie on a streaming service, you generally know what you’re going to get. But with a book club, the book selection can be more hit or miss. Sometimes, the book will be great and you’ll have a lot to discuss. Other times, you might not be as impressed and you might not have much to say. So, is Book Club The Next Chapter still relevant in the age of streaming? It depends on your personal preferences. If you’re looking for an easy way to connect with other book lovers and to stay up-to-date on the latest releases, then a book club might be a good option for you. But if you’re looking for a service that offers a more reliable quality of content, then you might want to stick with a streaming service.

The morning of October 17th 2019 was a cool and bright autumn day, two words rarely used to describe the treacherous Hanoi’s weather, when Lê Hải An arrived at his workplace, the Ministry of Education on 35 Đại Cồ Việt street, Hai Bà Trưng district, Hà Nội. Normally, he would have had a big breakfast at the office canteen then head off to his office at the second floor where he would spend the rest of his day trying to solve the numerous problems plaguing Vietnam’s education.
At 7:10 AM, someone spotted a figure falling from the 8th floor. There was a blood-curling smash; the figure was declared dead on impact. It wasn’t hard for people to identify the man.
In just a few hours, public media across Vietnam would declare that Vice Minister Lê Hải An had died. The reason?
He slipped and fell off the balcony.
The story I am about to tell you is not just a simple fall.
The story I am about to tell you sounds like something out of a conspiracy theory, the one spewed by tinfoil hat wearers on the street, the one peddled by shock websites and fringe extremist forums, the kind that would make you think it was a rejected Hollywood script and not real life. And I must admit, I have to work with secondary foreign sources with many being biased and some outright spewing baseless conspiracy theories. Many original sources had been removed or edited, forever lost into a memory hole resembling that of 1984. In trying to be faithful, I've removed a lot more "fantastical" elements that have no proof to be cross-checked; I will do my best to paint a complete picture of not only who Lê Hải An was, but the treacherous world around him, a nightmarish jungle of political infighting.
To those who don’t believe, I ask you to just give me the benefit of the doubt and remember this one thing:
“This is Vietnam.”
PART 1: The model teacher In Vietnam, we have this saying: “Tôn sư trọng đạo” meaning “To worship your teachers and to respect your study.” A teacher was not simply a teacher; he/she was the paragon of society, the enlightener, the one who upheld all the virtues of society, who embodied such virtues, and who passed on such virtue to younger generations.
Lê Hải An was one such man.
Born in April 1st 1971 in Hà Nội, An was the son of Lê Hải Châu, a famous educator whose mathematics book was once the golden standard of Vietnamese mathematics education. In fact, if you were in Vietnamese highschool in the 90s to early 2000s, you would have used one of his books. For his contribution, Châu was awarded the title “The People’s Teacher,” a once highly prestigious prize reserved for the most devoted teacher. Given his family’s background, An was said to be set for life.
But An did not take the easy way. He challenged himself continuously, was handpicked as a government-sponsored student to study Mining and Geology at Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography. Even late in his career, he still pursued his passion for the mining industry, successfully defending a thesis on the application of neural networks in the oil industry at the Heriot-Watt University.
Given his background and training, Lê Hải An was made a professor at the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology. At first he was a teacher at the Petroleum department, but rose steadily through the rank. To his students, he was a knowledgeable yet compassionate teacher who never sought to exert his authority; to his colleagues, he was a man of honor, of dignity, representing the paragon of teachers thought to have been lost. Nobody complained when he was made the University’s principal; nobody complained when Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc appointed An to be the Vice Minister of the much troubled Ministry of Education.
Well, maybe not nobody.
PART 2: You have to go to Hà Giang and take the national exam For every Vietnamese students, nothing struck the fear of God in them worse than the word "National Exam." Not as competitive as the Chinese Gaokao or the Korean Suneung, it is the stuff of nightmare that have made and broken life. Students competed for the sweet sweet spot at the Police Academy and Military Academy (It is in fact more difficult to become a cop or an army officer in Vietnam than to become a doctoteacheengineeIT technician); parents wait anxiously for their children's performance to show off to friends and families; educators wait for the top scores to make their annual achievement look good so they can attract better students to their high school.
Exam season rolled around, and the results were released by July 11th 2018. As soon as the scores came out, all of Vietnam was shocked.
Of all the 64 cities and provinces, Hà Giang scored the highest in the national exam, with the highest number of “Thủ Khoa” or “The top scorer.” This, to many, was a surprise: not only Hà Giang was the poorest province in all of Vietnam, it traditionally had high illiteracy rate, high dropout rate, low graduation rate, low university admission rate, and so on and so forth. The fact that during the same year Hà Giang had the highest rate of failure to graduate from high school also raised eyebrows.
And Hà Giang was not the only province. Sơn La and Hòa Bình, two other terrible performers, also scored suspiciously well, outmatching province such as Thanh Hóa-Nghệ An-Hà Tĩnh who have been known as "Đất Học" or "The land of the studious."
Immediately, people began to cry foul. There was a lot of anger: a lot of students who had worked their whole lives were in danger of losing their spots to some “irregularities.” A common saying began to emerge: “Em phải đến Hà Giang thi đại học” or “You have to go to Hà Giang and take the national exam.” Investigations were launched into the Ministry of Education just one day after the score was released.
Quick investigation revealed that this was not just some "irregularities" but a systematic scheme, raising scores for test-takers: some exam takers received a nine points out of a total of ten points boost for individual exam, and some had their total points raised by thirty points out of a total of forty. Not only that, the exam-takers who benefitted from this were some of the most powerful people in Vietnam. Take the case of Hà Giang: one of the person whose scores were raised was Triệu Ngọc Mai, daughter's of Triệu Tài Vinh, General Secretary of Hà Giang. The Triệu clan ruled Hà Giang as a fiefdom of their own, holding most important positions; they had strong ties with the Minister of Education Phùng Xuân Nhạ, a widely-hated and despised figures for his bare-faced corruption and mismanagement, and the President of Vietnam Trần Đại Quang. People were expecting the investigation would go to nowhere - afterall, who dared to incur the wrath of the President of Vietnam?
Then, out of nowhere, Trần Đại Quang died.
On September 21st 2018, the fit and healthy Trần Đại Quang suddenly passed away from “a rare and unknown virus which he contracted during his trips.”
No more explanation was given. One month later, on November 3rd 2018, Lê Hải An received Decision 1475/QĐ-TTg from Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc himself, making him the Vice Minister of Education and in charge of the National Examination scandal
PART 3: His final moment For the next year, An worked with diligence, doing his best to hold the perpetrators accountable. By the numerous newspaper articles, it was clear he was the one leading the charge while his superior, Nhạ, kept a low profile and only appeared on the media every now and then to make some empty speech. He worked hard, showing up at his office early and having breakfast in the office’s canteen to save time, then immediately dived into work in his office on the second floor. His work yielded results: 16 bureaucrats were arrested, 222 exam takers were exposed, large sums of bribes were confiscated. To many, perhaps An included, it wasn’t enough. Everyone knew the big fish Nhạ was still out there, and everyone was itching to see him fall.
It was on the morning of October 17th 2019 when Lê Hải An arrived at his workplace, the Ministry of Education on 35 Đại Cồ Việt street, Hai Bà Trưng district, Hà Nội. We had little idea of what had happened on that day, but what we knew painted a very strange picture.
Normally, An would go straight to his office on the second floor, rarely having any reasons to go anywhere else. And, given the early hour, most other offices would be empty.
Yet, on that day, An seemed to have gone to the eighth floor. There was no record of what he was doing there or who he was meeting; the floor also had no camera. Photographs of the crime scene showed a table which supposedly An had sat - this table had an almost empty glass of cold tea, a cigarette pack, and an ashtray with ash in it. Another table was photographed with an old red gym bag and a nylon bag containing non-descript items; next to this table was a chair with another plastic bag containing non-descript items on it. All the tables were seated next to a balcony which was about 80 centimeters tall. An was described to be 180 centimeters tall, and when his body was discovered it was lying parallel to the building from which he fell from next to a tree but seemingly did not hit it.
Given all the evidence, by 8:30 AM it was concluded that An slipped and fell. No more investigation was made
PART 4: The truth won’t set you free Of course, the conclusion did not satisfy anybody.
On one hand, there is very low trust for the Vietnamese police who have shown their ineptitude and willingness to fake evidence time and time again. With miscarriage of justice cases such as Hồ Duy Hải and Huỳnh Văn Nén fresh in every one’s mind, the police’s conclusion lost even more credits. The fact that the police quickly concluded An slipped and fell only at most two hours after they were notified of the accident and refused to investigate any further reek of a cover-up.
But, even with the benefit of doubt for the police, the idea of An slipping and falling was deemed unthinkable to many. For one thing, people did not understand why An went to the eighth floor when his office was on the second floor. If he was there on business, what business could it be at such an early hour (government offices in Vietnam often begin work at 8:00 AM if not 9:00 AM.) If he was there to meet someone, who was that someone and why was he not investigated? No investigation was made into his phone or email either.
Then there was the balcony.
The balcony was described by some to be eighty centimeter tall, which would make slipping a feasible case for someone 1.8 meter tall like An. However, images from the crime scene show a police man standing next to the balcony and the balcony reaching his chest. Given that the minimum height to be accepted to the police academy is 1.64 meters, we are looking at a 1.2 meter tall balcony at the very least. It will be very hard to slip and fall over, unless someone was leaning over it. But why would anybody do such a thing? Some suggested he was drunk and tired and this could have been the case, but with no toxicology report done on him there was no way to make sure.
Some commentators also pointed out that even if An leaned out and fell, his body would have landed in a perpendicular angle with the building block he was falling out from. Yet, in the crime scene image, he was shown lying parallel to the building, as if he had rolled over on his side. There were no obstacles on the way down so his falling body could not have hit anything. The only thing in his way was a tree, but the branches were very frail and images did not show any conclusive evidence that he hit the tree on his way down.
So, if he did not slip and fall, what else could have happened?
Suicide was also suggested and has remained a strong contender. It must be remembered that An was an important man being surrounded by enemies. He had a very heavy burden to shoulder and had to endure political shenanigans from all sides. Perhaps, the pressure had broken the hitherto earnest teacher who had not had a taste for the wild political arena. So, he decided to go to the eighth floor, climbed over it (which could have required him to drape over the balcony, explaining why his body was found parallel to the building) then let himself fall.
Of course, some don’t agree with the idea. They pointed out he was a very happy, very respected man with a long and promising career, a loving family, and a dedication towards a higher calling. Men like him, they said, rarely killed themselves. While this could be true, this “proof” is very weak as many successful men have committed suicide. Perhaps, he was only showing himself to be happy; perhaps there was something else going on with his life that we would never know.
Finally, and perhaps the most pervasive, is the idea An was killed. Of course, given that this theory was born out of circumstantial evidence not any real evidence, this belongs more to the conspiracy theory bin. The temptation was there: An was leading the crusade against some very powerful individual, many of whom had both the power and desire to get rid of someone like An. If the former President himself could die so mysteriously while in office, who was to say An was safe? The police’s quick conclusion and refusal to investigate any further as well as the image of a supposedly official letter from his wife begging for police protection (now scrubbed off the internet) only added more flame to the fire.
So, assuming An was killed, who had killed him?
The obvious answer to many would be Nhạ: he was An’s boss, he was investigated by An, he could’ve lost his power and friends and influence. He wanted An dead, had the means to do so, and was therefore the prime suspect. The many clans whose children’s road to power An had dashed such as the Triệu clan also had axes to grind with An.
However, there was another suspect.
Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, the man who had appointed An to the position himself.
Before this all happened, Phúc was rumored to be in a power struggle with President Trần Đại Quang and the Ministry of Public Security. After Quang’s death in 2018, Phúc was trying to court Quang’s Department of Public Security to his side. The new head of this Department was Tô Lâm (The man who was videoed eating at Salt Bae’s place in London while Vietnam was under lockdown and starving.) Perhaps, as a gesture of peace, Phúc sold out his subordinate as an “apology.”
Ultimately, given that these theories are born out of the lack of evidence and the coincidence, we cannot accept them as “reasonable.”
PART 5: Farewell On the 21st of October 2019, Lê Hải An’s funeral was held. It was a simple affair and yet it attracted thousands of mourners, ranging from the Vietnamese elites to his students. To many, the loss of An was a great loss to this world. Even without his work to clean up the Ministry of Education, he was an honest, hard-working, humble man who had always tried his best to live up to the image of the model teacher that had become so rare in modern Vietnam. The fact that such a good man had to die so early only rubbed more salt into the open wound.
But time will fly. Life will move on, heals will wound, stories will be forgotten, people will forget. Lê Hải An will one day fade into obscurity, and with him the question:
“What happened to Lê Hải An on October 17th 2019?”

And why is the Vietnamese government intervening in the case?

2023.06.03 19:25 Jenasto Archmage Savos Aren's notes on KINMUNE
Here follow my notes on the cryptic tract titled KINMUNE. The text was kindly lent to me by Master Urag, since it contains a mention of something entombed in Saarthal. When questioned as to the text's provenance, he mentioned something about a lone wandering Khajiit.
A cursory read of the text reveals little, since the meaning is mired in rather impenetrable terminology. These notes will represent my attempt to decipher this meaning as I read through it. For anyone following up on these notes, I recommend that you read the original tract alongside this - I'm not going to copy out the whole narrative.
The document begins by stating that KINMUNE stands for KINETICALLY-INTERLINKED MULTI-USER NTH-GEN EXOFORM, and is the correct name of the legendary Queen Ayrenn of Alinor. Historically, she was the high queen who founded the First Aldmeri Dominion.
My attempts to shed light on the terminology of the tract follow:
On the acronym: Kinetics relate to movement or potence relating to movement.
Inter-linking is a concept in which multiple items are linked together by threads, much like various models of the Aurbis.
Multi-user is a term which I am uncertain about beyond its base terminology. Multiple people using something? What?
Nth-gen. 'N' is a placeholder for any given numerical digit.
Exoform: Outward-shape? Something whose shape is outside its nature?
Proxy-synthetic - A synthetic (being) could be one that is artificially constructed. My mind is drawn to the still-animate brass guardians of the deep folk. 'Proxy' generally denotes vicariousness, something acting on behalf of another.
9th Era - The tract suggests that KINMUNE is from this time in the future. At least, with our kalpical knowledge we assume it's the future.
Aurbical Mining Guilds - Unknown organisation from some supposed future date, whose exact facilities would be the scope of a whole new field of study if this tract can be deemed credible.
Thot-box - Possibly slang for 'Thought box'. Not terminology I have seen elsewhere, I will offer no attempt at present to decipher.
Dreamsleevishell (sic) - Assume 'Dreamsleeve shell'. The Dreamsleeve is a concept bickered over by Imperial theologians and mystics, and their Altmeri counterparts. It its whole it seems to a be a reductionist attempt to reconcile diverse notions of the afterlife and spirit realm, though there are supposedly incidences of Imperial scholars successfully transmitting thoughts across it, telepathically. Old Mankar's commentaries I'm sure made a note of these - if one can find any of the Mythic Dawn knocking around, perhaps one can read further.
As for a 'Dreamsleeve-shell' I can only speculate. Perhaps something that allows one to physically enter the space? That would be tantamount to entering Aetherius corporeally.
Remote Mortal Operators - If this device was operated 'telepathically' then perhaps it would explain 'Multi user.'
Kynareth's illicit breath trade - A term that would no doubt be considered a grand blasphemy by any mannish religion. Perhaps the author suggests that the 'Breath' of this divine is what these guilds are mining.
Stream several live-wire mortal proxies - By context from the above, I think the author is suggesting that the device could be physically operated by several individuals, telepathically, at the same time.
Hazardous Conditions Warprunner Exoform - Would imply that the device is intended to be operated in conditions where the 'several proxies' would be unable to go normally. I now believe that 'Exoform' means something outside of oneself that is controlled by oneself.
Ayleidoon Hegemony - The Ayleids are the post-hoc name given to the elves of Old Cyrod, Ayleidoon meaning Of The Ayleids. Hegemony means dominance, but often refers to a state that is de facto controlled by another - much as the Thalmor attempts with the Empire.
"Nearing another unceremonious end" - We know that the Ayleids have fallen at the hands of Saint Alessia. This would imply that it will happen again, for a second or even third or greater time.
Hist-Jillian wars - The Hist are the trees that live in Argonia, said to be the survivors of one of the previous Kalpa's worlds of creation. The Jills are, according to the cults of Akatosh, those daughters of the Time Dragon who 'mend the minutes' - or end the so-called Dragon Breaks by reconciling divergent time-threads into one continuum.
Wheelian Rip - A break of the Wheel, the Aurbis, could be another term for a Dragon Break or un-time event.
SubSys - Unknown. Sub-system?
'Brane Space - Membrane-space? Unknown.
Nu-Mandlebright - Nu is a prefix in Ehlnofex meaning New. This probably means a place.
Chronoculic - Chrono- is a Nedic word for Time. -Culos implies small.
Sync-Net anchor - I can only speculate here. Synchronised net, or network? The concepts here, if indeed real whatsoever, are beyond the ken of this era. I might go so far as to suggest the author is describing some manner of stabilising device.
Space-time - The enantiomorphic marriage of the Space God Lorkhan, and the Time God Akatosh, that we know as the Aurbis.
F-Shores - Unknown.
Blink-root Ship - A kind of warship deployed by the Hist, the author suggests. 'Blink' is a kind of slang used in old Morrowind to refer to teleportation, though I can't be certain the analogy applies here.
16th Dimensional Mathematics - Regular time-space/space-time that we perceive daily operates on four dimensions, Three spatial and one Temporal. The three spatial presumably apply to enantiomorphically linked super-gradients of Lorkhan (possibly Sithis/Anui-El/Aurbis?). The fourth (and possibly fifth and sixth, uncertain) dimensions relate to Aka. Sixteen dimensional mathematics, especially being used as weaponry as made explicit here, strongly suggests the sixteen realms of the Daedra.
Impossipoint Detonation - The result of the above mathematics being used as weaponry. Impossipoints are a hypothetical construct in theurgic geometry that indicate the creation of something from nothing.
Ix-Egg - Delving into some Argonian metaphysics now. Ixtaxh-thtithil-meht is the Jel name of Sithis, meaning 'Exact Egg Cracker' or 'He who breaks the egg'. Linguistic link aside, there is nothing to suggest what the Ix-Egg referred to here is.
TalOSian Hologram - TalOS, with the latter two letters capitalised, is sometimes used by scholars who validate the Arcturian Heresy, especially Altmer ones who decry the Orthodox account. The O-S I think stand for 'Over-soul'. If someone following up these notes is uncertain what is meant here, seek out the Arcturian Heresy and read it, or a thorough exegesis of it.
Hologram - Holos is Nedic for light, -Gramma means message. A message of light relating to the trinary soul of Talos. I can't read any more into it than that.
Ysgramorim - The best I can offer is that it refers to Ysgramor's time, or his wars.
"Her mind an aggregate..." - The author states that the device now operates with the mentalities of the users who were telepathically controlling it before the time shift. An artificial construct given the thoughts of several 'users'. It accordingly 'drives' her insane (was she supposed to have had a sanity of 'her' own before?)
Memory-web - The author hints at the creations' ability to hold data. It is able to 'remember' history enough to recognise her location.
Broadcasting distress - She is able to use her telepathic functions to send out a plea in all the languages she knows.
Tok-Talk - At a guess I would say the author means technological speak, which apparently doesn't exist in the Merethic. The noise of a clock, or other mechanism that mimics the rudiments of Dwemercraft, is often onomatopaeically rendered as 'Tick-Tock'.
Whalebone readers - Ancient Atmoran diviners.
Tickle in the Throat - A possible reference to the Throat of the World - some sense KINMUNE by the voice of Kyne? (If the device is already linked to Kynareth's 'breath trade' then I think the author is hinting at this). Sensed by the Old Greybeards.
Oracle Iridescent - She becomes known by this title. The tract never describes her physically, with the possible exception of 'iridescent'.
Green Tablet Steps of Jhunal - Old teachings of the Nordic aspect of Julianos.
Witch of Wire and String - Another epithet.
Post-Kalpica Transmeditations - Some manner of foresight she can deliver to the 'Sons and Daughters' (of Ysgramor?), presumably that allow them to gain knowledge of her own time.
Dumb Old Giant - A giant that attempted to use her meditation gift and was killed or driven insane. The author states that none who used her gifts 'escaped in whole'.
Shield-Biters - Berserkers, shock troops used by Nords since Atmoran times.
(Enchanted weapons of) Wasabi - The only 'Wasabi' I can find a reference to anywhere is a preparation of a peppery herb, used as a condiment in Hammerfell. I am as certain as I can be that this is not what is being referred to here. If it -is-, then I should frankly have never wasted time on this endeavour.
Always-burnt borders (of Saarthal) - This is the phrase that led to Urag granting me use of this tract for study. In this narrative, KINMUNE is imprisoned by Ysgramor underneath Saarthal for allowing his counselor, the Giant, to be harmed.
Prismatic network - Interlinked glass and crystalline prisms used for transmitting light and magicka in Dwemer ruins.
Misunderstood Dwemercraft - Concepts such as 'Misunderstand' and 'Misinterpret' are a little different when confronting the lore of the Deep Folk, since it is possibly to Misunderstand something correctly or incorrectly.
Mund - Mundus, Earth.
Ada-issue - Mortals, which is to say those descending from the spirits. Ada-issue is a term used more by Mer, since we tend to see ourselves as descendants rather than creations of the Aedra. The use of the term here strongly implies a Mer wrote it.
The 9 - The Ninth era.
The 1 and 1 - I suppose this means the Merethic era, one and one possibly referring to the interplay of Akatosh and Lorkhan.
Maradaoon Marionette - A puppet in the nature of, service of or otherwise relating to Mara.
Misunderstandistance - A dwemer concept of micro-architecture that allowed them to build within their peculiar parameters. The details are a matter of debate.
Brass-and-Cricket Lines - Probably the brass steam-pipes used in Dwemer ruins.
Databanx - A word referring to Kinmune's mind, by context.
Synthesize - Create an artificial replica or variant of.
Varliance++ - There's as many attempts to define 'Varliance' as there are wizards who want to talk about it. Rendered by some as raw magicka from the sun or stars, pure aetheric power that can be converted into magic by a wizard. By others as the perspicacity afforded by the exact nature of astral positioning. The two pluses indicate a more advanced form that she can use, now that her telepathic personality is intermingled with the Dwemer logic gates.
Sense-net - What passes for her senses.
Thu'umanics - The Thu'um is the old name for the 'Voice' that Nords can use. It is an ancestral form of Tonal magic - something that Kinmune, according to the narrative, can now sense because of her new association with Dwemer technology.
Wrong-headed Cave Totems - Probably referring to the Eight Divines as they were suggested by the Alessian doctrinal reforms, as distinct from the old Nordic animal spirits.
(This could pinpoint the date of Kinmune's alleged escape from Saarthal as during the Alessian revolt or even the Middle Dawn, where the 'Unorthodox Thu'umanics' may refer to Alessia being recognised by Akatosh, the acts of Pelinal, or the later acts of Marukh.)
Post-script terms:
OLD MARY INTERREGNUM - 'Old Mary' is common homophone slang for 'Aldmeri'.
Patricircumcision - An epithet of Kinmune. I'm not looking this up.
Crystal-like-Twitch - Another epithet. 'Crystal-like-law' is the name of the Tower that once stood above Eton Nir. This is probably a play on words.
Thalmoric Memo-Whore to All Enemies In The 'Set - A play on words of 'Memospore', a term used (as far as I understand) for a message sent through Dreamsleeve. Memo-whore is a rather undignified term that possibly makes a crude reference to how her body could be 'entered'. 'Set is probably shorthand for Summurset.
28th thot-box state-of-the-art half-shaft differential - At a guess, her 9th era designation.
Blessed Pentarch 5/5/555 - Yet another epithet, possibly meaning she had mastery over five schools of magic.
Anuielectorate Article 1245663245 - I'd need a mathologian for this one, and I don't have enough documents about the supposed nature of Anui-el to make more than a haphazard guess.
Thus completes the exegesis of terminology. My interpretation now follows.
This has no relevance to what we have discovered at Saarthal. If the Narrative (and it's a colossal 'if') can be considered viable, then she was clearly imprisoned in a different part of the ruin to the one we excavated - there was no Dwemer technology, misunderstood or otherwise, to be seen. The chamber where the device was located bore only slight deviations from traditional merethic Atmoran architecture.
Furthermore, KINMUNE supposedly escapes from her imprisonment in the First Era. And the document opens by declaring that she is, in fact, Queen Ayrenn of the First Aldmeri Dominion, a woman whose life is fairly well documented - even the years in which she is 'missing' are mostly accounted for as a series of adventures around the Direnni Tower and beyond. I think she is determined to have entered a Dwemer Ruin at one point, but a great many adventurers have.
The only sliver of interest in this line of thinking would be that the huge time-gap might explain the unusual writings on the Orb - perhaps it could be the writing of a future race? And the orb is simply the 'Shell' that Kinmune arrived in, and escaped from. It's conjecture best saved for snowy days and a good bottle of Flin.
Beyond that, it's very difficult to find anything in the tract that would serve as a valid historical or futurological document. There are no corroborating reports of a character from the time bearing any of the epithets mentioned, no Dwemer ruins found in the immediate locale of Saarthal (so far), no records from the early days of the first Empires of Skyrim or Cyrodiil to lend any weight to the tract's claims.
I conclude therefore one of the following:
- This is an attempt by Second-Era Altmeri sympathisers to create a basis of propaganda for their queen, by bestowing upon her a crown of mystique which is incomprehensible to the everyday reader, thus granting it a concealed void of academic veracity.
- This is modern-day Thalmor propaganda that seeks to do much the same, by creating a false narrative that the Second Era dominion was able to divine the nature of Queen Ayrenn as being of grand temporal importance.
- This is a prank played on an unsuspecting Altmer scholar in the second era, to trick them into calling their queen 'Kinmune', which for all we know may have been an embarrassing nickname acquired in her young adventures.
- This is the result of some incompetent Altmer trying to use Dreamsleeve communication and producing a garbled report based on a plethora of intermingled concepts and ruminations from many different points in time, past and future.
- This is an actual report from an untime event, that has somehow become lodged in our own timeflow. I only include this option because I can't prove against it. If any scholars even so much as attempt to follow up this line of enquiry, they're on midden cleaning duty for the rest of the kalpa.
- This is an attempt by a scholar to appear as if they have greater mythical understanding, so as to appear more credible as a candidate for a court mage. They may have used terms harnessed from Imperial and Altmer theosophists to increase their credibility.
- This is anti-dominion propaganda, intended to weaken their position by falsely claiming that their foundress was little more than a telepathically controlled animunculus.
- This is a fictional account created by mages to amuse one another.
- The gibberings of an unfortunate victim of Sheogorath.
Overall the document has no confirmable academic applications. I will have Urag assign it to the Restricted Section (sub-section Possibly Dangerous Esoterica) alongside these notes. If you are a student or professor following up on these notes, I advise you to do so with necessary scepticism and a gentle reminder that sometimes the bizarre and arcane has a terribly prosaic explanation.

2023.06.03 18:58 GallopingLifeDeer The video game "Omori" and its masterful use of the Near Death Experience in media
If you've never played the video game "Omori" to completion, let me give you a quick rundown of the events and how it relates to NDEs. If you actually do intend to experience it, I recommend stopping reading this and going to play it or watch someone on YT play it as soon as you can.
Here come the spoilers for the game:
The game is about a 16 year old boy named Sunny who really loves to live in worlds created in his own mind, that he explores through an avatar created called OMORI. OMORI is, simply put, the being that Sunny thinks of himself as, and he is joined by the cognitions of what he feels his friends to be. However, at the start of this game, Sunny hasn't even seen those friends for over four years. Why? Sunny himself doesn't even seem to know the answer until one of his friends knocks on his door, and they spend the next three days interacting with their friends, the other main characters of the game.
Near the very end, Sunny learns that he accidentally killed his sister, Mari, by pushing her down a set of stairs in an argument that was never meant to escalate that far. The shared guilt between him and another boy named Basil, who was there when Mari's death happened and attempted to cover it up via staged hanging, out of few thoughts other than desire to protect his friend while he was in shock, result in Basil going outright insane for a bit near the end of the game.
Sunny, who fears letting anyone else around him know the truth, gets into a brutal fight with the boy simply in an effort to keep the extremely unstable Basil from self harm. Though neither of them actually felt ill will towards each other at all, the fight was brutal and landed both boys in the hospital. En route to the hospital, Sunny has a Near Death Experience.
In this experience, after Sunny has uncovered the truly awful and traumatic memories about what happened in his past that ended up being the fault of no one in particular, he is truly able to uncover the good memories of his life that were buried as well. He remembers everything that was great about life when Mari was there, and he also remembers that many of these great things will still continue, as long as he is able to open up and receive said gifts from his friends and ultimately, himself too.
In the dream world, Sunny's deceased cat guides him to an idealized version of his house as it was before, and an unknown voice lets him know not to fear, for he still knows his way home. Mari and Sunny are able to apologize to each other, and his friends, his real friends, are all there to support him and wish him the best. But then, the final conflict arises, as when Sunny plays a song for the crowd on his violin, the being "OMORI" appears.
OMORI, named after the hikkikomori of real life, is what can effectively be described as an alternate personality of Sunny. For the four years after Mari's death, OMORI's function has been to hide the truth of Mari's death from Sunny, simply as a human-created "protector" of the soul (or human psyche) functionally working for Sunny's mental well-being as intended. But during this song, OMORI appears with a knife, with the clear intent to kill the boy.
In this final battle of the game, Sunny cannot kill OMORI. Fortunately, Sunny will always be fully healed by the encouraging words of his friends, but as OMORI is undefeatable, it just feels like delaying the inevitable. OMORI will never be sated with any of the violence attempted, and with a knife in his hand, OMORI will take Sunny down. However, after this happens, the player is given a common video game "GAME OVER" screen, with the text "Do you want to continue?"
The player has the option to select "Yes" or "No" here. If the player selects no, Sunny is ERASED, and OMORI uses Sunny's body to end his life and ambiguously the lives of others too. If the player selects "Yes" though, something wonderful happens:
Sunny uses the formerly broken violin (the one he used to play but broke in frustration around the time of the horrible event) he was finally able to mend over the NDE segment of the game to turn his own horrible inner state into one of love, social and internal support, and inner peace, after doing a single action: Accepting that OMORI even exists in the first place.
After OMORI is accepted, OMORI drops the knife *instantly*, the two hug and form into one being, and without the knife, Sunny and OMORI in conjunction are not murderous in the slightest, but simply want the best for all life.
In conclusion, this game really puts the function of life into perspective. Mari is dead throughout the game, but repeatedly appears to be involved in plausibly deniable miracles that happen in the real world throughout the course of the game. If Sunny just died over the course of the game, his "heaven" would probably look like Sunny's inner world before he faces the trauma: A lot of interesting and imaginative things, but a notable lack of narrative substance. Upon facing his trauma, Sunny's inner world goes from very interesting and imaginative but debatably lacking in proper soul structure, to one where his real friends (as opposed to Sunny's previous cognitions at the start of the game of what they were like four years ago), the ones that don't intend to leave his side, reside too.

2023.06.03 18:18 Rusted-1 Stronger Together 13
It’s pure insanity himself CHOKING HAZARD!!! Disciple of the old Chaos! Bet none of you saw that coming! What a surprise! Hope you all are having a good time so far! This fanfic is based off the fanfic The isolationists, by
Seeyouon_otherside. Constructive criticism is appreciated.
Memory Transcript Subject: Alvaro, Human of the wanderer fleet. It was great to see Hazard again! Although his speaker had come a bit loose and he was bleeding on me.
“AHAHAH!” Hazard screamed. “Sorry, some of these WONDERFUL cybernetics are still integrating themselves into my body! “
I smiled at that. “You have to tell me about all the new ones you got! I’m sure you made some great improvements.”
He got up and looked at me strangely. Then surprise and anger spread across his face.YOU LIMBS!! YOUR EYES?! WHO DID THIS TO YOU?! I WILL KILL THEM ALL!” Ah yeah kinda forgot about that.
I tried to calm him down. “Don’t worry the people who did this to me are long dead!”
That seemed to calm him down a bit. I realized he got taller! He was now [10 feet] tall! He menacingly laughed again and got up. Then continuing as if nothing had happened. “I have made TONS of improvements, AHAHAHAHAHAHHAH! Come come! Let’s talk in my place, or a part of it that’s more, well clean.” He casually said as he turned on a flamethrower that he did not have installed before and started to burn a random dead Krakotl. He seemingly got lost in the flames light for a bit and his head began to rock back and forth as he hummed to himself. Once the body was nothing but ash he giggled again. “Follow me!”
I turned to give both Leminarc and Anax a thumbs up but they just seemed really uncomfortable. “Ah don’t worry guys he won’t harm you.”
Anax gave me a worried look. “You're sure?”
I smiled gently. “Positive. He’s really gentle with most of his friends.”
Lemon raised an eyebrow. “He thinks of us as his friends?.”
I nodded. “If you travel with me he will consider you a friend yeah.”
With that we continued out of the room and down another hallway passing more bodies, but they noticeably started to clear up the closer we got to what I assumed was his home. There started to be more and more panels taken apart, wires hanging out of the ceiling, walls, and pipes coming out the floor as if he had been modifying the place, which he most likely was. More and more of this became apparent as we got closer. Some sections had been entirely changed to a new look.
“Oh hang on! I forgot!”
Anax’s head whipped around! “Forgot what?”
Hazard then proceeded to shout a series of beeps and whistles with his speaker mouth thing. After that we heard a bunch of beeps come from around the hall. We turned the Corner and were greeted with the sight of ceiling, wall, and floor mounted turrets. All of Arxur design. “When the Feds, ugh Feds funny nickname Hahah, would bring captured Arxur here they also brought all of their weapons and smaller ships and stored them here hehehe.” He began to explain. “This place is even bigger than what the outside tells you and it’s already huge, the largest space station built this side of the known galaxy. It’s quite awesome. They have entire hangars full of fighters, bombers, interceptors, and even four experimental compact light Cruisers that are docked directly into the station. HAHAHAHHA! There pretty neat, they also brought a lot of the Arxur turrets here for study.”
“Wait, wouldn't a station like this have automated security, like turrets and other things?” Asked Lemon.
“HAHAHAHHA! You're smart!” Was Hazards reply. “Yep it does, auto rail guns, cannons, auto turrets, torpedo tubes, all fully automated, but I’ve only been able to get small parts working at a time. It’s taking a while cuz’ this place has better cyber security then any ship I’ve encountered. Also the more digging I did into the files here I actually realized something. This isn’t a medical or research station, it’s a mobile base. For invading other places and territories. HAHAHAHHA! Invasions ahhhhhh, the federation always liked to send their CHILDREN into the slaughter…ugh.”
Hazard then began to say something then randomly chanted something. Stopped moving entirely for a few seconds, then spoke again.
“It wouldn’t surprise me that once the federation dealt with the Axur they would have used stations like this to continue expanding, killing any predator species they came across, until they hit White-outs children’s home system. The second the federation, heheh, threatened them, haha! He would have SLAUGHTERED THE FEDERATION LIKE THE MONSTERS THEY ARE AHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH THEY NEVER AND WILL NEVER STOOD A CHANCE AGAINST A CHAOS GOD!!! AAAAAHHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAA!
Hazard laughed like a lunatic for about a minute before calming down, Lemon gave me a concerned look, all I could do was manage a shrug. Then Lemon asked. “Who or what is White-out?” I shrugged. “I’d only heard Hazard mention this White-out a few times but only in passing or when killing federation and Dominion members, I believe it’s his religion or something else like that, I’m not totally sure, it could just be Hazard being Hazard. I’m not a hundred percent sure.” We looked back at Hazard. “Ah, White-out, last of his kind. Cheers big man.” He made a ‘cheers’ motion with his hand, then we reached the door to what I could assume was his home. He then spoke, to us I think, again. “Anyhow I’m pretty sure this is the only station like this, which surprises me as this place is extremely effective. It’s almost as if when the federation higher ups realized how effective this place was they stopped making more. It’s extremely odd. HAHAHAH! Ah the federation, stopping things that could stop this war!”
Hazard then opened the door using some kind of keypad. It was…really clean. There were some sort of roomba robots cleaning the walls, ceilings, and floors. The bed was perfectly made. There were photos of a lot of people I did not recognize, mainly human, on the walls. One wall was covered with guns, swords, and other weapons. It was extremely nicely furnished and not something you would expect of a man like Hazard but you always have to be ready for the unexpected with him.
Hazard gestures to some beautifully designed chairs for us to sit in. “You guys find a niiiiiiice seat! I’ll get the drinks and food! What would you like to drink?”
“I’ll have some water please.” Was my response.
Anax and lemon looked at each other then back at Hazard. “I’ll have water too, please.” Anax said.
“…and I’ll have some wine?” Lemon requested.
“Ah sorry I don’t have any wine! I use that stuff and turn it into molotov cocktails but, HAHAHAHA! WATER THE ORIGINAL ESSENCE OF LIFE MUUUAHAHAHAHAHAH! I’ll be right back! With that he turned around and left. Leaving us in the surprisingly nice room.
“Are you sure he's safe?” Asked Anax
I simply smiled at him “Oh I’m positive.”
Hazard soon returned with water for all of us and…meat? “I know what you're thinking. MEAT AHAHHAAH!! Where did you get the meat you are asking?!? Don’t worry! The Feds captured some humans…” his hand tightened around his glass and he stared off into space for a bit then composed himself again. “And took their meat cloning tech but I stole It back, AAAHHHHAHAHAHAHAH! So don’t worry it’s all earth based cattle, pig, sheep, and other farm animals! I’ll tell you more later but Alvaro I just have to hear what you have been doing! How have you been?!”
With that I retold my tale of how I got here, to say that he was expressive would’ve been an understatement. His eye would change to so many colors it was like a rainbow. His armor plates would shift around with his changing mood, rising up with surprise or joy, and forming sharp spikes when angry or frustrated. They would also smooth over whenever he seemingly liked something. “Wow…you have KIDS!!! AHAHHAHA! That’s amazing! I’m so happy for you. You're married too…dude that’s amazing. I’m so glad that you found someone! I can’t wait to meet them AND TEACH THEM THE WAYS OF…uh, oh?” Hazard then looked to his left and spoke in a language that our translators did not understand. He seemed to be fully immersed in a conversation with, whatever or whoever he was talking to even though there was nothing there. After a minute he then stopped and looked back at us. I took this as my cue to continue.
I smiled then asked the question. “How did you end up here?” His smile faded a little.
“Ah, a very good question. When we were captured and I was brought to a re-education camp, they failed to realize how insane I actually was. HAHAHAHAHH! THE BLESSINGS OF CHAOS CONTAINED WITHIN ME ARE A BLESSING OF REALITY AHAHAHHAH! Ah I still hear their screams as I killed them for trying to harm the younger ones there. They had stripped me of my mech suit then so I was just a normal augmented Venlil. I was brought to this station about two earth months ago and had a series of tests on me, OOHHHHH THE THINGS THEY DID AAAHHHHGGG! Anyway thankfully my augments filtered out all of the drugs they tried on me so I was unaffected by them. What they did to the others…it was unforgivable.” Then he got a look of pure focus. It was the most sane I had ever seen him. “What they did to the people here, the children too, they all came from parents that were diagnosed with predator disease, most born on this very station never understanding why they were so abused. I tried so hard to keep them happy. Most ended up being disposed of because the federation was simply done with them. Most saw me as uncle metal, I loved that nickname…”
I reached out to touch him on his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. “Buddy we don’t have to talk about this if it’s too painful. We can leave it there” He held up his hand to stop me. Then resumed.
“I…remember it was my third month here and I was holding a Kolshan that had been surgically combined with a Tilfish, she was such young girl, and in agony…I held her as she died in my arms. I can still hear her asking the question, what did I do to deserve this? I didn’t have the heart to tell her, she did nothing wrong to deserve it. Then she died.” His glass shattered in his metal hand as he crushed it. “They took her body away. Then they took her apart to figure out why she died. It…it was too much. I Asked White-out what I was doing here.”
Hazard looked down for a moment, then back at us. “Then the answer came. I was brushing a young defective, he was so nice, Arxurs scales, who was also born on the station. They…they took his arms and replaced them with… very small plastic arms…When I heard this horrible wail. Then in the human language Swedish I heard, “don’t hurt her please”, I looked up and I saw two human beings dragged apart by laughing federation exterminators. I…I don’t know we’re they got the humans from…and…I still don’t know what happened. I saw red and the next thing I knew I was standing there over the exterminators, with…with…his halberd in my hand, the deed bringer.” He then opened and closed his hand as if testing to see if whatever he was talking about was still there. I looked at Lemon and Anax and they looked at me. I just shrugged. This was new even for him.
“Then I realized the smart guy was waiting for the humans to show up knowing how I would react. I took his halberd and slaughtered all in my path. I made my way to my suit.” He gestured to the mech suit he was wearing. “And let loose, I could FEEL all the ANGER, THE HATE, THE AGONY that the federation did to the souls around. I felt those souls all around me, unable to enter the next life without revenge, and so I let them into me, to guide my hand in the slaughter, hundreds of angry, hateful, festering souls entered my body.” He breathed in and continued.
“We held nothing back. Every weapon I had at my disposal was used, every shell, bullet, saw, flamethrower. AHAHAHHAHAHAHHA! I could feel the glee and joy from them at every federation personnel that fell and died. Until they were all dead, I felt the souls leave in peace. Then I was surrounded by bodies, blood, and prisoners, hehehhehe. I helped to free them all. Got them to some FTL worthy ships and said good luck. I stayed here to continue cleaning out the place. Then I made this.”
He got up and moved to the other side of the room, and pulled out an extremely large book. It had a tough cover. Made with paper and all. “Per federation rule, they had to photograph every contamination they disposed of over the years, who were the prisoners here. I cataloged every child they killed and put them in this book” It was a big book. He opened it and we got to see all of them, each photo had a name under it, there were about twenty photos per page. There were hundreds of pages. “They were all so young, some only months old. Some had names. Most had numbers. So I gave them names based on their numbers.”
He traced his hand over the pages. “I couldn’t save them…they all deserved life, a true beginning. All they got was some needles poked into them and limbs moved or added, then they were discarded like trash.”
He closed the book gently and brushed his hand over it. “I remained here, drawing in federation ships using distress singles, hacking into their pathetic security. Turning their weapons against each other, causing their FTL drives to self-destruct, killing as many as I could. It was never enough. Now…almost no ships come, you're the first in over a week.” He stopped and put his hands on his head. “I couldn’t save them…” then to my surprise Lemon got up and hugged him, then I did. Anax looked as though he had been mentally hit by a train.
Hazard held us both back and began to rock back and forth, back and forth.

2023.06.03 15:56 Purple_Bowman What happened to Dewey's trailer from Scream 5?
As we know, at the time of Scream 5's events, Dewey was living a secluded and reclusive life in a small trailer, drowning out his pain and worries after breaking up with Gale.
It is unclear at exactly what point Dewey moved to live in the trailer, given that in addition to Gale's apartment in New York, Dewey also had a house in Woodsboro, where he was living with her at the time of the events of Scream 4.
It is possible that he moved there to live immediately after his resignation as sheriff.
There were a lot of interesting things stored in the trailer: rare framed revolver specimens, an old sword that hung in the wall, Gale's books.
We also see many pictures of dogs and cats, which may have been Dewey's pets from different time periods: both while living with Gale and as pets of his parents and Tatum.
We also saw an urn with ashes belonging to Tatum.
Dewey placed candles and white roses beside it, honoring the memory of his younger sister.
But what happened to this trailer after what happened in the fifth movie (I don't want to mention it, still hurts)?
My answer: it is quite possible that the trailer or things from there were inherited by Gale as Dewey's ex-wife (we don't know if Dewey's parents are alive now). I hope Mrs. Riley left a natural death long before that, as no parent deserves to lose their children (and twice, too).
As we know from Scream 6, Gale cherishes the very framed photo of her and Dewey together that Dewey previously kept in that trailer.
This suggests that at least some of the stuff from there has passed under Gale's ownership.
What's more interesting: In the sanctuary scene, where we see a booth dedicated to Dewey with pictures and his belongings, we notice that the last picture of Dewey was taken in that very trailer, we see him in that very shirt and with those curtains in the background. The photo was clearly taken at the time of the events of the fifth film.
However, where did this photo come from?
It is possible that Dewey took it specifically for Gale, or that he was photographed for an interview with a local magazine (although during his first conversation with Sam, Dewey said he was not doing any interviews).
David Arquette's personal photos from Scream 6 were used for the photos, perhaps the studio contacted him for permission to use them, as was the case with Hayden Panettiere in Scream 5.
But why am I putting so much emphasis on this place at all?
Perhaps it will play a role in the future, say, in Scream 7.
Don't forget Gale's promised Dewey book, which she never finished.
Perhaps Gale will go back to that trailer (or just look at things from there) to get some inspiration before the writing process.
What about when she accidentally discovers a
videotape Dewey made in person shortly before his death?
Perhaps Dewey felt he didn't have long to live, so he took Randy's experience and decided to make a videotape sharing his thoughts and feelings about his divorce from Gale and how he still loves her, and will always love her.
It would have been a powerful and emotional scene, with strong dramatic potential, and would have given us a chance to see our favorite character again (in addition to possible flashbacks).

2023.06.03 15:35 Admirable_Ad9506 Is it just a hasty generalization... or do transvesitites of the same gender really provide comfort to trans people?
I mean I've seen a post from a trans woman whose mother was a tomboy- and it wasn't a dysphoria inducing situation to say the least - from what I've read. Because...(I don't have photographic memory so take this with a grain of salt) it helped her see a tomboy rather than a dude in the mirror. Which is the correct view- trans women are women.
Do femboys provide comfort to trans men for the similar but opposite reason?
Or is this just a hasty generalization, even for trans women and tomboys?

2023.06.03 13:56 StephaniePriestley Brain fog: A therapists superpower
NHS inform: Brain fog is not a medical term but used to describe a range of symptoms including: poor concentration, feeling confused, thinking more slowly than usual, fuzzy thoughts, forgetfulness, lost words and mental fatigue.
Before the pandemic the term ‘brain fog’ was mainly used within the chronic illness community with many, such as myself, having to justify its existence. I’ve said the words “It’s a real thing” more times than I could possibly count. Well, if I did try, my brain fog would make me lose track anyway. I’ve battled with the fog for as long as I can remember. Some days I just swap out more intellectual words for something Dr Seus would write but some days the inside of my head resembles static from a broken tv. Brain fog becomes a barrier, stopping me from accessing and understanding my own thoughts and leaving me unable to communicate them how I’d like to. On the worst days I can literally taste the word on my tongue and then watch it disappear as it’s carried away from me on a cloud of crackly static. It’s unbelievably frustrating and exhausting to fight with yourself for your own thoughts but even more frustrating to be perceived as less intelligent or less eloquent as a result.
Don’t get me started on how ridiculous and frustrating it is to have a photographic like memory for what feels like inconsequential things and have important, meaningful events locked away from me by my own brain. I would love to know why my brain feels that the exact outfit I wore grocery shopping that one time is important but the due date for my next essay isn’t. Even writing this I can feel my anxiety rising within me trying to grasp for words to write down. My brain swapped ‘inconsequential’ for…never mind, actually. It’s gone again. My most used web page is an online thesaurus that I constantly battle with when I feel like I have the flavour of the word I want but have no idea how to start finding it. You’d think I’d have the vocabulary of Shakespeare if you looked at my internet history. I’m sure I do, It just lives in the magical land at the bottom of the crackly static rainbow. The one that all the other parts of me gets to holiday but I’m stuck in the 1 star BnB that’s listed as ‘cosy’ on trip advisor.
For me, the most debilitating and frustrating part of brain fog is being unable to concentrate and retain information. I’m the person that asks the same question 3 times in a row and then nods in agreement. Not because I’ve understood but because asking a 4th time feels ridiculous so I pretend. In a social setting that is. Why is this my biggest issue with brain fog ? Because I hate the idea that people could feel like I don’t listen or care about what is said. I listen. I listen hard and I care equally as hard. So much so that I decided to make a living out of doing exactly that. Listening. Isn’t that such a wonderful cosmic joke? Make the person that struggles to retain information and communicate how that information lands only want to do that exact thing forever. What’s that saying, though? “Nothing worth doing is easy” or something like that. Well, this is the interesting part. I’ve actually found a few upsides to my brain fog. Don’t get me wrong, it’s horrible and its hard. When it’s hard it’s really hard but when it’s not so hard I feel like a real life superhero. I have spent my whole life with heightened focus, heightened adaptability and the ability to get really creative in order to communicate, make myself heard and, well, just to exist. I feel that by trying so hard to combat an obstacle like brain fog, on the days or hours that it lifts I suddenly have all of these superhuman abilities. It suddenly becomes less about concentrating so hard for a little information and more like being in touch and connected to the world in a way I can’t even explain. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a piece about how bad it is to be in the fog and how good it is to be out of it. I’m not going to start telling you how to ‘cure’ it by eating right and getting enough sleep like all of the post pandemic fog experts that seem to be growing like weeds. I want to tell you how I’ve came to appreciate who I am in the fog and how it’s making me a better therapist and person.
I’ve found that living in the fog actually has it’s own set of unique opportunities for growth and development. For me, personally, it’s made me realise that wanting to become a therapist isn’t some kind of cosmic joke but actually something I have always, unknowingly been training myself to be. Firstly, the fog has always forced me to find other ways to understand and communicate. When it has been hardest to retain information and really ‘listen’ to what someone is saying I’ve looked for other ways to understand. For example, when words didn’t quite hold the weight I needed I got the context from body language, tone and non-verbal cues. I’d fit the pieces together in a way that I could make sense of them. This became second nature to me and when translated into a therapeutic setting it allowed me to be able to attune to my client in a very natural way. I’m calling it a superpower because I believe that the ability to become intuitive and connected could be the key to being able to ‘be’ with people. To be more understanding, accepting and open to what makes us human. In my experience, people living with something that makes them different are some of the most accepting and indiscriminating people in the world.
To give it more context, have you ever seen someone deal with a language barrier by simply raising their voice? I used to work in retail and I’d see it a lot and in my experience it only made the situation worse. I found that sometimes the word being understood doesn’t matter, what matters is how the word is spoken and ultimately how the person was made to feel. When in that situation my natural reaction was to accept that we didn’t speak the same language and communicate that it was ‘ok’ in a way universally understood — by my emotional response and my body language. Honestly, sometimes I believe that a smile and a nod could fix the world. This communicated to the person that we were ‘in it together’ and we’d find a way to carry out this transaction in a way that we could both understand. For me, this is an example of brain fog resulting in heightened intuition, problem solving, adaptability and creativity. They might not be in the same league as invisibility or the power to fly but when you’re alone in that fog the ability to make a meaningful human connection beats x-ray vision any day. In fact, I’d even argue that intuitive insight is a real world x-ray vision — just less gross and not as morally questionable.
I’ve talked about my fog creating a less than habitable environment for my words and thoughts but something that I can struggle with is the sheer amount of feelings. My fog might carry away my words but it is the perfect environment for difficult and unwanted swarms of feelings. Brain fog anxiety is inescapable and it is accompanied by a lot of anger, frustration, sadness, grief, loss and confusion. Sometimes it’s so overwhelming that I don’t want to communicate at all because I’m just so exhausted with being exhausted and having to try and explain that to someone else feels impossible. So sometimes I just don’t, and that’s ok. Sometimes I use an old trusty defence mechanism and laugh it off, and that’s ok. Sometimes I am so angry that I want the unfairness of it being invisible to be seen and heard and that’s ok too. Why am I telling you this? Because: Empathy. It has been my experience that dealing with so many different flavours of emotions has allowed me to build up quite an impressive repertoire of things I can deeply and personally empathise with. This is another thing I can thank my fog for in terms of helping me become an effective therapist. I do feel that people living with experience of a chronic illness, cognitive difficulties or any kind of illness really, can engage with empathy potentially more naturally than someone who doesn’t have a frame of reference. In my case, however, I feel that brain fog goes deeper than that. Brain fog has allowed me to be able to experience an array of emotions and understand them in different contexts which ultimately has made me understand how they can be different for everyone, just as they are different for me at different points of the day or different fog coverage.
Whilst my personal motivation for becoming a therapist was driven by my ‘wounded healer’ like internal voice telling me that I can use my pain to help others, I have came to the conclusion that it was my pain that made me able to help others. Living with my condition has made me resilient, robust, adaptable, empathic, understanding and intuitive and I believe that the fog has the power to do that for anyone who finds themselves in it. This isn’t a ‘silver lining’ or call to make the best out of a bad situation it’s a shout out to how badass the fog inhabitants are out there. Just for getting up in the morning — that’s enough. For me, acknowledging how I’ve been able to adapt to the conditions the fog has created for me has provided me with so many opportunities for growth and helped me be able to accept that the fog is part of me. Some days are better than others, some suck. I really want to create a narrative that living with these conditions is all about management and doing what is best for you when, why, how and where it is best for you. It’s not about a ‘cure’ or ‘overcoming’ something. For me, it’s about accepting that this messy, difficult, frustrating and exhausting thing is part of me. In fact, I can’t count how many times I’ve imagined someone stepping on a lego brick barefoot when they’ve told me to ‘get better soon’ or something just as ‘encouraging’. My superpower is navigating the fog and I am damn proud of that, even if navigating some days looks like I’m just sitting on the sofa in my pyjamas.

2023.06.03 10:08 Lulumaegolightly Seeing my dad/stepmom at family events once a year is stressful and I wish it didn’t bother me. - Really this is just a vent to get feelings out but would really appreciate input.
I [36F] really don’t know how things got as bad as they are but I basically never speak to my dad [63] or my stepmom/their kids and I don’t want to. Background: I never lived with my dad, only ever lived with my mom and paternal grandma/grandpa. Our relationship was always strained in my opinion. He was stern and quiet and I couldn’t tell when he was mad. He wasn’t affectionate really. He never said much unless he was voicing his opinion or criticizing something. Kind of like walking on eggshells for me once I wasn’t a fun little kid anymore. I was welcoming of stepmom dating my dad when I was a teen, but by the time I was an adult I just wanted to try having a meaningful relationship with him first, before her. I tried letting him know but it never went anywhere. He never met me in the middle. I think I should make it known that I don’t want to see them at family events anymore, for my own mental health. But it just isn’t that easy.
I’ve spent lots of time feeling guilty for where our relationship stands but keep reminding myself of why I feel the way I do; that I was a somewhat neglected child/teen and that they were the adults during important developmental years of my life and did an exceptionally poor job helping me navigate life. I guess I was a highly sensitive child and still can be a sensitive adult, and I’ve learned to mask it all too well. I don’t have much memory of my childhood and I think I had so much anxiety that I was not fully present in my body. Once I was an adult I became more aware of my feelings and how much I was stuffing them down probably because I was always told to quit crying and being a baby. Even as an adult he told me to suck it up when I was crying from a serious break up. I guess my feelings and emotional well-being were and have been ignored. I also think my father would deny my reality a lot when I was little. I remember hearing “that didn’t happen” or “I didn’t say that” often. It’s hard for me to tell if he was gaslighting me and possibly a narcissist. My dad was basically a big bully.. he’d give kids in our family nicknames and they weren’t always nice. He called my chubby little cousin doughnut boy. He’d laugh at kids all the time, out loud, right in front of their face. He didn’t believe 3rd grade me when I said I had broken my arm while he was literally there and saw me fall. Two days later I was finally in a cast.
As a 20 something I found out from my stepmom that I was still on my dad’s health insurance, right at the time I would no longer be eligible to be on it- after thinking I had no way to get basic medical treatment for years. Never got my SAT Scores or senior photos done because they kept saying they’d help me do it and never did. She was photographer, jfc. She’s so vain and her body issues were projected on me. When my grandpa died my step mom called to break the news… I was not close with her then or ever really. Why should she be the one to call and break the news the first time I experienced the death of a loved one? If I ever tried calling for my dad, I couldnt even talk to him without going through her first. When I was about 20 she called me a spoiled brat after not getting her way with me and my dad was there to take her side. She’s always sticking her nose in every one else’s business and caused an even further rift between me and my dad when she stirred up drama between my mom and my dad that would have been non existent if not for her planting a lie. It was kind of traumatic for me and happened on Christmas of all days.
Either way, I hate seeing them at family events and never know when they are going to be there so I have a lot of anxiety about family gatherings that should be a good time. Any time they aren’t there I enjoy seeing and spending time with everyone. I think I need to voice how I feel for my own peace of mind but I just know they won’t understand my point of view, they never have. And there is just too much to be said..
For years our relationship was just awkward talk-about-the-weather type of surface level convo on holidays and last year when he gave me a shoulder to the chest during a goodbye hug, I said to hell with it. Why am I even trying to be cordial at this point? Now I have other family members butting in. I almost want to send a group text message saying that I’d prefer to be notified when they are coming but that is just too much to ask in my opinion. Family can’t really control when family decides to show up to a gathering everyone knows about.
I need to find a way to move on with my life and stop living in my trauma. If you read for this long, thank you 💕

2023.06.03 08:06 thinkingstranger June 2, 2023
https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/june-2-2023 Three years ago today, on June 2, 2020, days after then–Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd by kneeling on his neck for nearly nine minutes, Martha Raddatz of ABC snapped the famous and chilling photograph of law enforcement officers in camouflage, their names and units hidden, standing in rows on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
Mr. Floyd’s murder sparked protests across the country, and Trump used those protests as a pretext to crack down on his opponents. Just the day before, after a call with Russian president Vladimir Putin, Trump told state governors on a phone call: “You have to dominate. If you don’t dominate, you’re wasting your time.... You’ve got to arrest people, you have to track people, you have to put them in jail for 10 years and you’ll never see this stuff again.” Then he used a massive police presence wielding tear gas, rubber bullets, and flash-bang explosives to clear peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters from Lafayette Square across from the White House.
Tonight, President Joe Biden addressed the nation from the Oval Office to emphasize that democracy depends on bipartisanship.” [W]hen I ran for President,” he began, “I was told the days of bipartisanship were over and that Democrats and Republicans could no longer work together. But I refused to believe that, because America can never give in to that way of thinking…. [T]he only way American democracy can function is through compromise and consensus, and that’s what I worked to do as your President…to forge a bipartisan agreement where it’s possible and where it’s needed.”
While he noted that he has signed more than 350 bipartisan laws in his time in office, his major focus today was on the bipartisan budget agreement passed by the House and Senate after months of wrangling to get House Republicans to agree to lift the debt ceiling. Biden will sign it tomorrow, averting the nation’s first-ever default.
Biden characterized those threatening to force the U.S. into default as “extreme voices,” who were willing to cause a catastrophe. The economy, which continues to add jobs at a cracking pace—another 339,000 in May, according to the numbers released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor—would have been thrown into recession. As many as 8 million Americans would have lost their jobs, retirement savings would have been decimated, borrowing for everything from mortgages to government funding would have become much more expensive, and “America’s standing as the most trusted, reliable financial partner in the world would have been shattered.”
“It would have taken years to climb out of that hole,” he said.
But the extremists were sidelined, and the House Republicans and the White House reached an agreement. Biden went out of his way to praise House speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and his team, saying that the two negotiating teams “were able to get along and get things done. We were straightforward with one another, completely honest with one another, and respectful with one another. Both sides operated in good faith. Both sides kept their word.”
This was not entirely true—McCarthy constantly attacked Biden in the media—but Biden was hammering on the image of bipartisanship. Yesterday, Jonathan Lemire, Adam Cancryn, and Jennifer Haberkorn of
Politico reported that Biden and his team plan to make the case for reelection on their ability to negotiate deals that get things done for the American people, acting as the “adults in the room” in contrast to Republican extremists. The budget deal that led to the suspension of the debt ceiling is a major illustration of that position.
Biden also praised House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), claiming that “[t]hey acted responsibly and put the good of the country ahead of politics.”
The solution to the debt ceiling crisis is a major victory for Biden’s team not only because it happened, but also because it leaves Biden’s key priorities intact, not least because they are popular and Republicans did not want to go into 2024 having demanded unpopular cuts.
Biden noted that the measure will cut spending as Republicans wanted (although not necessarily through the measures they insisted on adding), but reiterated that it is the Republican Party that has been on a spending spree. “We’re all on a much more fiscally responsible course than the one I inherited when I took office,” Biden said. “When I came to office, the deficit had increased every year the previous four years. And nearly $8 trillion was added to the national debt in the last administration,” while the deficit fell by $1.7 trillion in his first two years in office.
Biden laid out that the deal protects his reworking of the U.S. economy to support ordinary Americans. It protects Social Security and Medicare, as well as healthcare and veterans’ services. It protects the investments in the economy that have enabled the country to add more than 13 million new jobs, including 800,000 jobs in manufacturing. It protects investments in addressing climate change.
Finally, Biden vowed to make the wealthy—those who earn more than $400,000 a year—pay their fair share in taxes.
“I know bipartisanship is hard and unity is hard,” he concluded, “but we can never stop trying, because in moments like this one—the ones we just faced, where the American economy and the world economy is at risk of collapsing—there is no other way.
“No matter how tough our politics gets, we need to see each other not as adversaries, but as fellow Americans. Treat each other with dignity and respect. To join forces as Americans to stop shouting, lower the temperature, and work together to pursue progress, secure prosperity, and keep the promise of America for everybody.”
What a difference three years can make.

2023.06.03 06:16 SirNicholas101 Roblox myth
I’m working on a myth at the moment, just need to make games and such (which I’m still learning how to)
I have such a good idea for my Roblox myth I’ve been working on and off for the past 2 years, I’m not the best at making games but I don’t want to seem like those “new myths” that just make edits of their characters and leave it at that. I think I have a good story line though.
Story Line
There’s a parallel universe where there’s one big island and for the majority one clan rules it. The skull clan. This clan is lead by Percy. When Percy was around 40, he adopted Alex. Alex is a young man now. Percy was getting one, he was around 60 when he told Alex that when he died alex would take over the skull clan. Alex tried to deny thinking he couldn’t but Percy assured him he could. One day Percy dissapeared, no body was found at all, and at this point he would’ve been around 75 and Alex would’ve been around 30 something. So Alex immediately thought since he was the second in command that he would be the one to take over, but when he arrived at Percy’s kingdom he saw one person, James, or as most people know him as Itython to most people. Itython somehow got there from another parallel universe, in this universe Itython was severely abused by his parents without him realizing. Whenever he cried his parents said “we don’t care because you only can care about yourself. You have to act as if your the only one here.” They would do horrible things to him but by the age of 18 he had moved away and lived somewhere else far away from them. But when he came to this universe and realized Alex was trying to take his throne, he did as he was taught. He told Alex he was the only one that mattered and when Alex tried to explain otherwise he stitched a bone goat mask onto his face. This causing him to not be able to take it off ever again. He did horrible things to Alex, and he renamed the skull clan the skull cult. He had one worker in particular who he favorited, John Jackyson. John Jackyson was a former CEO of a big company in his area but it went bankrupt. So John started working for Itython. But Itython got mad whenever he went to spend time with his family so he planted a curse on his wife Mary. He cried and cried which caused Itython to be even more annoyed and plant a curse on him too. Now him and Mary look like unusual and stuff and lost most if not all of their memory of their children and everything. Alex and John usually have arguments over John helping Itython. But they made up and formed the horned clan and are now trying to take over the skull clan.
I haven’t got an ending yet and I have an idea instead of making games I will show the lore in other ways as well which I will not give away yet. I’m gonna try to get my friends to help me develop this myth more but this is just a rough sketch.

2023.06.03 06:05 NoAskRed [ST:TNG-Picard] are there learning devices that Picard can quote Moby Dick, knows the difference in the styles of master musicians playing the same music, has uncanny knowledge of galactic archaeology, and on top of all that he finds time be a celebrated Captain since Stargazer?
How has he done all this whilst reading Plato, Melville, contemplating MccArthyism and the Red Scare vs. the Fifth Amendment, just automatically knowledgeable about all important literature. He even knows about Sam Clemens.
Or is does Picard have an uncanny almost photographic memory that also mean he is perpetually knowledgeable at any martial arts he knows, and he is a celebrated diplomat. And other skills.
What gives?
EDIT: That learning thing they did with Uhura was never repeated, or is it implied that such learning technology exists? That would raise more
AskScienceFiction questions than it would solve.

2023.06.03 05:42 otiac1 The month of June is dedicated to The Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The month of June falls within the liturgical season of Ordinary Time, which is represented by the liturgical color green. This symbol of hope is the color of the sprouting seed and arouses in the faithful the hope of reaping the eternal harvest of heaven, especially the hope of a glorious resurrection. It is used in the offices and Masses of Ordinary Time.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body. Highlights of the Month
As we begin to feel the warmth of summer, we can reflect that we celebrate the feasts of Trinity Sunday (June 4), Corpus Christi (June 11), the Sacred Heart of Jesus (June 16) and the Immaculate Heart of Mary (June 17). God is Love and the Sacred Heart of Jesus — present on earth in the Blessed Sacrament — is the human manifestation of God's Love for men. Appropriately June is considered the month for weddings where human hearts join and cooperate with the Creator in bringing forth new life. The family they create is a human reflection of the Blessed Trinity. The saints that we will focus on this month are:
St. Justin (June 1),
Sts. Marcellinus and Peter (June 2),
St. Charles Lwanga & Companions (June 3),
St. Boniface (June 5),
St. Norbert (June 6),
St. Ephrem (June 9),
St. Anthony of Padua (June 13),
St. Romuald (June 19),
St. Aloysius Gonzaga (June 21),
Sts. John Fisher and Thomas More (June 22),
St. Paulinus (June 22),
the Nativity of St. John the Baptist (June 24),
St. Josemaría Escrivá (June 26),
St. Cyril of Alexandria (June 27),
St. Irenaeus (June 28),
the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul (June 29)
and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome (June 30).
The feast of St. Barnabas (June 11) is superseded by the Sunday liturgy.
A Time of Love
Following Pentecost, the Church begins her slow descent from the great peaks of the Easter Season to the verdant pastures of Ordinary Time, the longest of the liturgical seasons. She pauses briefly, to praise the Holy Trinity — Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier; and then the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ, Corpus Christi. Like the lush June growth all around us, the green of the liturgical season points to the new life won for us by the Redemption of Jesus Christ, the new life of Charity. For Our Lord came to cast the fire of His love on the earth, and to that end, sent His Holy Spirit at Pentecost in the form of tongues of fire.
Therefore, the close of the Easter season marks not the cessation but rather the beginning of Ordinary Time is the commencement of the Church’s activity. Ordinary Time is the hour to “go out to all the world and tell the good news.” The feasts of June highlight this expansion of the Church. At least ten times, the Church vests in the red of the martyrs whose blood is the very seed of her growth. She also celebrates the feasts of the Apostles Peter and Paul, and the birth of St. John the Baptist, proto-disciple and prophet.
We, too, are called to be witnesses like the apostles and martyrs. May the Heart of Jesus inflame our hearts so that we may be worthy of our Baptismal call to holiness. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

2023.06.03 04:50 lilrongal Capture Your Moment!
| One of my favorite \"Capture Your Moment\" pictures of yours truly! When I was planning for my latest trip, I looked through the enchanting extras. I'd been to Disney so many times that I've lost count, so I wanted to try something different. But when I first saw the Capture Your Moment option, I scrolled right past it. Then I saw a friend post her pictures on Instagram and they looked amazing! I booked two sessions. It gets pricey--the photos aren't actually included in the cost of the shoot. I'd sprung for Memory Maker, so I got the photos in there. Otherwise, you buy them individually. I wasn't a fan of that. For $99 at least one photo should absolutely be included. But the $99 covers the 20 minutes or so you get with the photographer, and you can have up to 8 people in the picture(s) with you. Because it was just my son and me, they took loads of solo pictures of each of us, and some pictures of us together. But anyway, I did the shoots and they were a blast. The photographers took TONS of photos (one did over 100!), and they're really good at coaching you to do fun poses. They also worked with me on poses I had ideas for. It felt truly collaborative. I'm a ham, so getting all that time and attention was really really fun. :) This is definitely a "nice to have" and not a requirement. You can get fun pictures by waiting in the Photopass lines like normal. But I enjoyed the individual attention and being able to really have fun without feeling like I had to hurry because of a line behind me. For me, it was worth it and I'll likely do it again in the other parks someday as well. submitted by lilrongal to WaltDisneyWorld [link] [comments] |
