Mississippi Coast business couple Ted and Julie Cain are trying to avoid paying a $32.6 million civil judgment against him for defrauding Medicare, the U.S. Attorney’s Office alleges in a lawsuit filed to collect the money.
Julie Cain is liable for repayment of $27.4 million of the total owed for her part in the fraud. The jury found that the couple billed Medicare over a 12-year period for work they never did at the former Stone County hospital, which Ted Cain owns and now leases to Gulfport Memorial Hospital.
The Cains had not paid a dime on the judgment by November 2022, government filings show. They are appealing the jury’s verdict in the civil case tried in U.S. District Court in Gulfport.
Attorneys for the government say the Cains tried to conceal their assets six months before their trial started because they were “staring down the barrel of a multi-million judgment.”
Before the trial, they transferred most of their assets to two trusts set up for their children, a son and daughter. Records show the Cains transferred 25 companies to the trusts, including LLCs that hold property. But Ted Cain controls those trusts through a management company, the government says.
“Hence, by the stroke of a pen, Ted Cain — who minutes prior was the owner of dozens of LLCs and real properties — became almost penniless,” the government said in a legal filing.
The government is asking the judge presiding over the case, Henry T. Wingate, to find that the transfer of assets was fraudulent, or assess damages against the trusts and its holdings. The government also wants to investigate the financial status of the Cains and the trusts.
The government’s ultimate goal is to collect the money the Cains owe and to prevent the Cains from drawing down assets from the trusts.
Wingate froze the couple’s assets before the civil case was decided. Ted Cain denies in legal filings that the assets transferred belong to him.
The Cains, represented by former Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, say they transferred the assets to the trusts “for legitimate estate planning purposes” and no fraud was involved. They also say that they are able to pay the judgment against them, despite the transfer of assets.
The fight over the assets is set for trial in March 2024 before Wingate in federal court. The Cains, their childrens’ trusts and companies and property held by either the elder Cains or the trusts, are defendants in the case. Cain assets: from Biloxi to Hattiesburg
Cain bought Stone County Hospital in 2001, after it had closed three times. He testified during the trial that the 25-bed hospital would not have been successful and residents would have been without an emergency room had he not overseen its operation.
He paid himself more than $15 million for the oversight from 2004-2013 and his wife $2.3 million as hospital administrator. But testimony during the trial showed they did little work for the money, with the government insurance program Medicare reimbursing them $13 million of the total.
Government attorneys said in a legal filing: “Ted Cain’s ‘work’ failed to meet every single condition of payment and evidence at trial established that Ted Cain’s visits to the hospital were to the cafeteria for the fried chicken and catfish on Wednesdays and Fridays, respectively.”
The jury found the Cains collected more than $10 million of their salaries through fraud. Judge Wingate then tripled the damages, as the law requires.
As a young man, Cain, who was born and raised in Wiggins, followed his father into the nursing home business. He soon branched out, becoming the owner of companies such as The Focus Group advertising agency in Biloxi, Cain Cattle Co. in Perkinston and Quest Pharmacy in Hattiesburg.
Ted Cain owns hundreds of acres in Stone County, where he was born, including this cattle farm. The government maintains Cain is trying to shield his assets, including dozens of companies that he owns, from a $32.6 million fraud judgment he’s been ordered to pay in a civil case.

He also owns multiple properties, including a waterfront home in Ocean Springs.
His companies, with the exception of Stone County Hospital and Corporate Management Inc. in Gulfport, were transferred to his children’s trust. Both the hospital and CMI were also defendants found liable in the Medicare fraud case. Medicare fraud under appeal
The Cains appealed the fraud verdict on multiple grounds to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
They say the government bypassed Medicare’s administrative process for recovery of overpayments. Taking the Cains to court allowed the government to recover damages that tripled the overpayment.
They also say the government failed to prove the Cains “knowingly” submitted false claims because their hospital salaries were reported annually to the government.
Government attorneys argue the verdict should stand.
They say Ted Cain accomplished his fraud through a “sweetheart contract” between Stone County Hospital and Corporate Management Inc.
Ted Cain and co-defendant Tommy Kuluz, right, leave the federal courthouse in Gulfport during a break in a 2020 civil trial where a jury found they committed Medicare fraud by paying Cain and his wife salaries they did not earn at his Stone County Hospital. Kuluz is chief financial officer of a Cain company that managed the hospital, now leased to Gulfport Memorial as Memorial Hospital Stone County.

Kuluz is chief financial officer of a Cain company that managed the hospital, now leased to Gulfport Memorial as Memorial Hospital Stone County.
CMI charged the hospital “exorbitant” management fees to disguise the size of Ted Cain’s executive compensation at Stone County Hospital, which was 15 times the average, the government attorneys contend.
They also say Medicare was billed for “hundreds of hours” that Julie Cain did not work, first as hospital administrator, then as a consultant and director.
The Cains’ Medicare fraud appeal is still pending. Leasing to Memorial Hospital
Through legal filings in the assets case, the government has tried to establish a pattern of concealment on the Cains’ part.
When he leased the hospital building to Memorial in late 2019, Ted Cain did not disclose the Medicare fraud lawsuit pending against him, his wife and the hospital. The government says the lease terms required disclosure of pending litigation.
Cain also identified himself as the owner of Wiggins Acute Care, his company that owned the hospital building and would be leasing it to Memorial.
But Wiggins Acute Care was one of the companies transferred to the Cain childrens’ trusts created months earlier.
In its initial lease with Wiggins Acute Care, Memorial agreed to rent Stone County Hospital, now Memorial Hospital Stone County, for $129,000 per month. Fourteen days after the lease was signed, the Cains finalized paperwork that created the trusts months earlier, further indicating their attempts to hide assets, government lawyers say.
Cain paid himself the difference between Gulfport Memorial’s rent payment and the monthly mortgage of $94,503.37 that Wiggins Acute Care owed on the hospital, government attorneys say.
In addition to Cain’s own spending, government attorneys are also concerned because, they say, his children have access to, or are benefiting from, the appreciation of assets in the trust funds.

  1. Digital Communication 14.1. Introduction to Digital Communication Digital communication is made from two words - digital and communication. Digital refers to the discrete time-varying signal. Communication refers to the exchange of information between two or more sources. Digital communication as a whole refers to the exchange of digital information between the sender and receiver using different devices and methods. The data transmission using analog methods for long-distance communication suffers from distortion, delays, interferences, and other losses. To overcome these problems, the digitization and sampling of signals using different techniques help in making the transmission process more efficient, clear, and accurate. Digital communication is a popular technology used today in electronics. It allows us to access video conferencing, digital meetings, online education, etc. The data can travel up to long distances within a second with the help of the internet and other modes of digital communication. It not only saves money but also saves time and effort. It has also raised the standard of an individual's social, political, and economic life. 14.2. Networks and Busses The wires between the tank and the monitoring location is called a bus or a network. The distinction between these two terms is more semantic than technical, and the two may be used interchangeably for all practical purposes. The term “bus” is usually used in reference to a set of wires connecting digital components within the enclosure of a computer device, and “network” is for something that is physically more widespread. There are many types of buses and networks. Each one has its own applications, advantages, and disadvantages. 12.2.1. Short-distance busses 12.2.1.1. PC/AT Bus used in early IBM-compatible computers to connect peripheral devices such as disk drive and sound cards to the motherboard of the computer.
12.2.1.2. PCI Another bus used in personal computers, but not limited to IBM-compatibles. Much faster than PC/AT. Typical data transfer rate of 100 Mbytes/second (32 bit) and 200 Mbytes/second (64 bit). 12.2.1.3. PCMCIA A bus designed to connect peripherals to laptop and notebook sized personal computers. Has a very small physical “footprint,” but is considerably slower than other popular PC buses. 12.2.1.4. VME A high-performance bus (co-designed by Motorola, and based on Motorola’s earlier Versa-Bus standard) for constructing versatile industrial and military computers, where multiple memory, peripheral, and even microprocessor cards could be plugged in to a passive “rack” or “card cage” to facilitate custom system designs. Typical data transfer rate of 50 Mbytes/second (64 bits wide). 12.2.1.5. VXI An expansion of the VME bus, VXI (VME eXtension for Instrumentation) includes the standard VME bus along with connectors for analog signals between cards in the rack. 12.2.1.6. S-100 Sometimes called the Altair bus, this bus standard was the product of a conference in 1976, intended to serve as an interface to the Intel 8080 microprocessor chip. Similar in philosophy to the VME, where multiple function cards could be plugged in to a passive “rack,” facilitating the construction of custom systems.
12.2.1.7. MC6800 The Motorola equivalent of the Intel-centric S-100 bus, designed to interface peripheral devices to the popular Motorola 6800 microprocessor chip. 12.2.1.8. STD Stands for Simple-To-Design and is yet another passive “rack” similar to the PC/AT bus, and lends itself well toward designs based on IBM-compatible hardware. Designed by Pro-Log, it is 8 bits wide (parallel), accommodating relatively small (4.5 inch by 6.5 inch) circuit cards. 12.2.1.9. Multibus I and II Another bus intended for the flexible design of custom computer systems, designed by Intel. 16 bits wide (parallel). 12.2.1.10. CompactPCI An industrial adaptation of the personal computer PCI standard, designed as a higher-performance alternative to the older VME bus. At a bus clock speed of 66 MHz, data transfer rates are 200 Mbytes/ second (32 bit) or 400 Mbytes/sec (64 bit). 12.2.1.11. Microchannel Yet another bus, this one designed by IBM for their ill-fated PS/2 series of computers, intended for the interfacing of PC motherboards to peripheral devices. 12.2.1.12. IDE A bus used primarily for connecting personal computer hard disk drives with the appropriate peripheral cards. Widely used in today’s personal computers for hard drive and CD-ROM drive interfacing.
12.2.1.13. SCSI An alternative (technically superior to IDE) bus used for personal computer disk drives. SCSI stands for Small Computer System Interface. Used in some IBM- compatible PC’s, as well as Macintosh (Apple), and many mini and mainframe business computers. Used to interface hard drives, CD-ROM drives, floppy disk drives, printers, scanners, modems, and a host of other peripheral devices. Speeds up to 1.5 Mbytes per second for the original standard. 12.2.1.14. GPIB (IEEE 488) General Purpose Interface Bus, also known as HPIB or IEEE 488, which was intended for the interfacing of electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters to personal computers. 8 bit wide address/data “path” with 8 additional lines for communications control. 12.2.1.15. Centronics parallel Widely used on personal computers for interfacing printer and plotter devices. Sometimes used to interface with other peripheral devices, such as external ZIP (100 Mbyte floppy) disk drives and tape drives. 12.2.1.16. USB Universal Serial Bus, which is intended to interconnect many external peripheral devices (such as keyboards, modems, mice, etc.) to personal computers. Long used on Macintosh PC’s, it is now being installed as new equipment on IBM-compatible machines. 12.2.1.17. FireWire (IEEE 1394) A high-speed serial network capable of operating at 100, 200, or 400 Mbps with versatile features such as “hot swapping” (adding or removing devices with the power on) and flexible topology. Designed for high-performance personal computer interfacing.
12.2.1.18. Bluetooth A radio-based communications network designed for office linking of computer devices. Provisions for data security designed into this network standard. 12.2.2. Extended-distance networks 12.2.2.1. 20 mA current loop Not to be confused with the common instrumentation 4-20 mA analog standard, this is a digital communications network based on interrupting a 20 mA (or sometimes 60 mA) current loop to represent binary data. Although the low impedance gives good noise immunity, it is susceptible to wiring faults (such as breaks) which would fail the entire network. 12.2.2.2. RS-232C The most common serial network used in computer systems, often used to link peripheral devices such as printers and mice to a personal computer. Limited in speed and distance (typically 45 feet and 20 kbps, although higher speeds can be run with shorter distances). I’ve been able to run RS-232 reliably at speeds more than 100 kbps, but this was using a cable only 6 feet long! RS- 232C is often referred to simply as RS-232 (no “C”). 12.2.2.3. RS-422A/RS-485 Two serial networks designed to overcome some of the distance and versatility limitations of RS-232C. Used widely in industry to link serial devices together in electrically “noisy” plant environments. Much greater distance and speed limitations than RS-232C, typically over half a mile and at speeds approaching 10 Mbps. 12.2.2.4. Ethernet (IEEE 802.3) A high-speed network which links computers and some types of peripheral devices together. “Normal” Ethernet runs at a speed of 10 million bits/second, and “Fast” Ethernet runs at 100 million bits/second. The slower (10 Mbps) Ethernet has been implemented in a variety of means on copper
wire (thick coax = “10BASE5”, thin coax = “10BASE2”, twisted-pair = “10BASE- T”), radio, and on optical fiber (“10BASE-F”). The Fast Ethernet has also been implemented on a few different means (twisted-pair, 2 pair = 100BASE-TX; twisted-pair, 4 pair = 100BASE-T4; optical fiber = 100BASE-FX). 12.2.2.5. Token ring Another high-speed network linking computer devices together, using a philosophy of communication that is much different from Ethernet, allowing for more precise response times from individual network devices, and greater immunity to network wiring damage. 12.2.2.6. FDDI A very high-speed network exclusively implemented on fiber-optic cabling. 12.2.2.7. Modbus/Modbus Plus Originally implemented by the Modicon corporation, a large maker of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for linking remote I/O (Input/Output) racks with a PLC processor. Still quite popular. 12.2.2.8. Profibus Originally implemented by the Siemens corporation, another large maker of PLC equipment. 12.2.2.9. Foundation Fieldbus A high-performance bus expressly designed to allow multiple process instruments (transmitters, controllers, valve positioners) to communicate with host computers and with each other. May ultimately displace the 4-20 mA analog signal as the standard means of interconnecting process control instrumentation in the future.
14.3. Data Flow Buses and networks are designed to allow communication to occur between individual devices that are interconnected. The flow of information, or data, between nodes, can take a variety of forms: With simplex communication, all data flow is unidirectional: from the designated transmitter to the designated receiver. BogusBus is an example of simplex communication, where the transmitter sent information to the remote monitoring location, but no information is ever sent back to the water tank. If all we want to do is send information one-way, then simplex is just fine. Most applications, however, demand more: With duplex communication, the flow of information is bi- directional for each device. Duplex can be further divided into two sub- categories:
The Half-Duplex works like a type of communication, that may be likened to two tin cans on the ends of a single taut string: Either can may be used to transmit or receive, but not at the same time. Full-duplex communication is more like a true telephone, where two people can talk at the same time and hear one another simultaneously, the mouthpiece of one phone transmitting the earpiece of the other, and vice versa. Full-duplex is often facilitated through the use of two separate channels or networks, with an individual set of wires for each direction of communication. It is sometimes accomplished by means of multiple-frequency carrier waves, especially in radio links, where one frequency is reserved for each direction of communication.
14.5. Optical Data Communication A modern alternative to sending (binary) digital information via electric voltage signals is to use optical (light) signals. Electrical signals from digital circuits (high/low voltages) may be converted into discrete optical signals (light or no light) with LEDs or solid-state lasers. Likewise, light signals can be translated back into electrical form by photodiodes or phototransistors for introduction into the inputs of gate circuits. Transmitting digital information in optical form may be done in open air, simply by aiming a laser at a photodetector at a remote distance, but interference with the beam in the form of temperature inversion layers, dust, rain, fog, and other obstructions can present significant engineering problems:
One way to avoid the problems of open-air optical data transmission is to send the light pulses down an ultra-pure glass fibre. Glass fibres will “conduct” a beam of light much as a copper wire will conduct electrons, with the advantage of completely avoiding all the associated problems of inductance, capacitance, and external interference plaguing electrical signals. Optical fibres keep the light beam contained within the fibre core by a phenomenon known as total internal reflectance. An optical fibre is composed of two layers of ultra- pure glass, each layer made of glass with a slightly different refractive index, or capacity to “bend” light. With one type of glass concentrically layered around a central glass core, light introduced into the central core cannot escape outside the fibre, but is confined to travel within the core: Optical fibres exceed the data-handling performance of copper wire in almost every regard. They are totally immune to electromagnetic interference and have very high bandwidths. However, they are not without certain weaknesses.
14.6. Network Topology 14.6.1. Point-to-Point Connecting two digital devices with a network, would have a kind of network known as “point-to-point:” The network wiring is symbolized as a single line between the two devices. It may be a twisted pair of wires, a coaxial cable, an optical fibre, or even a seven-conductor BogusBus. 14.6.2. Bus Topology A type of network which uses a common transmission medium where all nodes of network are connected to it.
14.6.3. Star Topology A type of network that uses a hub, switch, or computer to act as a central network and which all the nodes connect to it. The selected hub, switch or computer acts as a server. 14.6.4. Ring Topology This topology provides the best reliability with the least amount of wiring. Since each node has two connection points to the ring, a single break in any part of the ring doesn’t affect the integrity of the network.
14.7. Network Protocols The standardized method by which nodes are allowed to transmit to the bus or network wiring is called a protocol. There are many different protocols for arbitrating the use of a common network between multiple nodes, and I’ll cover just a few here. However, it is good to be aware of these few, and to understand why some work better for some purposes than others. Usually, a specific protocol is associated with a standardized type of network. This is merely another “layer” to the set of standards which are specified under the titles of various networks. The International Standards Organization (ISO) has specified a general architecture of network specifications in their DIS7498 model (applicable to most any digital network). Consisting of seven “layers,” this outline, named the Open Systems Interconnection Layer (OSI Layer) attempts to categorize all levels of abstraction necessary to communicate digital data. Level 1: Physical Specifies electrical and mechanical details of communication: wire type, connector design, signal types and levels. Level 2: Data link Defines formats of messages, how data is to be addressed, and error detection/correction techniques. Level 3: Network Establishes procedures for encapsulation of data into “packets” for transmission and reception. Level 4: Transport Among other things, the transport layer defines how complete data files are to be handled over a network. Level 5: Session Organizes data transfer in terms of beginning and end of a specific transmission. Analogous to job control on a multitasking computer operating system.
Level 6: Presentation Includes definitions for character sets, terminal control, and graphics commands so that abstract data can be readily encoded and decoded between communicating devices. Level 7: Application The end-user standards for generating and/or interpreting communicated data in its final form. In other words, the actual computer programs using the communicated data. 14.8. Practical considerations - Digital Communication A principal consideration for industrial control networks, where the monitoring and control of real-life processes must often occur quickly and at set times, is the guaranteed maximum communication time from one node to another. The ability for a network to guarantee data “throughput” is called determinism. A deterministic network has a guaranteed maximum time delay for data transfer from node to node, whereas a non-deterministic network does not. The preeminent example of a non-deterministic network is Ethernet, where the nodes rely on random time-delay circuits to reset and re-attempt transmission after a collision.

2023.06.08 07:04 Glittering_Sense_489 I know it's a long read, but I need help understanding this girl

For context, me (20) and this girl (18) have been friends for almost 2 years. We were both born in Puerto Rico, but my parents are Argentinean. We met through my dad being friends with her mom. My dad owns a workshop and when I help him in his place I go to eat lunch in a restaurant where the girl's mom is the owner. I've known her mom way before I met her. One day the mom sent her to work with us, since the girl likes cars. After this day she would work with us most saturdays. She hasn't become an actual employee, but has asked me if we have a secretary, which could mean that shes interested in becoming a employee. That's how I met her.
Shortly after meeting I received a follow request from random account that at the time I thought it was a bot, so I accepted the follow request to increase my followers. I had this app on my phone that monitors who goes on my Instagram profile and this account was on the list for months. About 6 months later I noticed that it was her but in a alt account after she posted a question of somebody asking her if she had a finsta. Then after realizing it was her I started following the account. Shortly after this I returned from a European vacation and gifted her a miniature eiffel tower keychain. This was all in the same day. The same day I noticed that she unfollowed me on that account. A month later the following conversation occurred:
Me: hey, I noticed that you unfollowed me on instagram Girl: but I follow on my finsta Me: no you don't Girl: checks instagram what's your username? Girl: I'll do it later at home.
Basically ignored the question
July 10 2022 We were on our to eat lunch at her mother's restaurant and I mentioned that last was my birthday just to let her know. This conversation followed:
Me: hey last week I turned 20. Girl: what? Why didn't you call to let me know? Me: I just didn't want to bother you Girl: You wouldn't be bothering me
The same day this conversation occurred: Girl: you know Jowell y Randy (puertorican rapper duo) Me: Yeah. Why? Girl: My cousin is friends with Jowell's son. I want to be the son's girlfriend. Me: Alright cool Why would she tell me this? To make me jealous? Why would she want to be with a guy she's never met? Confuses me.
Another day, I came in to work in a barcelona soccer shirt and complimented me saying that she likes my shirt. The following conversation followed:
Girl: I like your shirt Me: Thanks 1 minute passes Girl: I like your shirt Me: You already said that, but thanks again Girl: nervous smile
January 3 2023 The day before, at night, my dad called her and asked her if she could help us at the workshop. Had been about a month since I've seen her. The same night she posted her first bikini pic to her instagram. On this day (last time I saw her) she asked if I played playstation. I said yes and gave her my username and she friend requested me and added as a close friend (which shows real name on profile). We talked about games we have in common and she told me that she plays warzone alot and if i could play with her. I told her that im not good at that game, but she told me that it didnt matter and that she would teach me and help me improve. The same day the following conversation occurred: we were talking about being a introvert or extrovert.
Translated from Spanish Me: you talk to much Girl: well I'm actually a introvert Me: Seriously?! (sarcasm) Girl: (understanding the sarcasm) yeah but with you I'm a extrovert (smiles).
(Sounds way better in spanish, but my rough translation will do)
The following days, I would send her invitations to play on playstation, but everytime she would ignore them.
January 10 2023 She posted sendit to her snapchat asking for questions. People asked her the following.
whos ur crush?
Her: I dont think of him as a crush but I think he's cute
who do u like?
Her: I don't like anyone but there is a guy and I think he is cute :)
It can be about someone else but noone will ever know.
February 13 2023 This day she sent me a snap with a photo asking me if I wanted to do streaks, I said yes and stated that I haven't done streaks in a long time. I didn't receive any text back and later I sent a snap to start the streak. Three days later she hasn't opened the snap I sent.
February 17 2023 This day she asked me again for streaks, after ignoring me when she first asked. She did the exact same thing she did the first time.
The last two months, I've been going through a stressful family issue including my parents divorce progress and I haven't seen or talked to her in 3 months and probably not going to see her this summer since I don't talk to my dad anymore, which is the only way I see her.
June 8 2023 Its now been 5 months since I've seen her. About week ago, she privated her instagram, hasn't played playstation in a week and hasn't posted on bereal for a week. She also hasn't posted anything on snapchat for atleast 2 weeks.

A passionate, kinky happily married, looking for like-minded, playful women.
Love to meet up for a drink, good food and real conversation🥂🍝. Lets see where it takes us. Definitely not looking for soulless transactional encounters without connection. Quality over quantity.
Yes, he knows and I want to play solo now. This is NOT a unicorn hunting.
About me: 170 cm, fit, blonde, big blue eyes
Vanilla interests: art, design, business, technology, hiking, running, travelling
Please write some kind of introduction so I know more or less who you are / if we match.Eager to swap photos and verify/ have a video chat if we click :)
I'm open to meet after 17th so we will have plenty of time to get to know each other before.
Edit: Open to meet FF couples as well:)

2023.06.08 06:06 Tiredinthisspace I keep messing up

We've been together for 4 days short of a year. We broke up three hours ago. I'm writing this from the other side of the room right now. I've figured up my life in big ways with big consequences. I dropped out of HS four months from graduation. I got engaged and pregnant with a man who literally ditched me in a different state. I have no stability and gave my child up. I still see her. That sucks knowing I can't have her. In June of 2022 I got my man. Smart, wise, companionate, funny, family man, so much potential. He's had a rough life before meeting me and now I've just caused him more trouble. I have repressed trama and severe mental issues and I have such a hard time working past them. We've been fighting a lot since February especially. I recognize my problems and I don't fix them. I say that I will but I don't. I'm controlling, I'm a perfectionist, I get overwhelmed too easily and verbally abusive at times. My anger and sadness get the best of me. I'm too sentimental and sensitive. I got him a gift for our anniversary and he opened it early. I wanted to suprise him and actually gift it. I wanted to see the look on his face when he opened it. But I lost that. It hurts because it was important for me to share that moment with him. That started the agruement tonight. It was the tipping point. It got out of hand so quickly. The fights have been getting more frequent and worse everytime. And I respect his decision to break things off. I really do because I'm hurting him. It was only a year but he was everything to me. My whole life. Maybe again in the future but I have to let him go so that we can both heal. I love him. And I will always be grateful for the moments he's given me.

2023.06.08 06:00 Southern-Bit-7905 My first love who rejected my 3 years ago, asked me to meet up with him 😅

Our “love” story is sooo long, I don’t know how to summarize haha. We met during our SHS year. 1 year lang kami naging classmates ( during grade 11 lang). Let’s call him “Rae”. He is a kinddd guy, super, like sa lahat ng classmates namin, talagang mabait sya. Kaya mabilis din kami naging friends, to the point na lumilipat pa ako ng chair just to be near with him. Iniiwan ko friends ko para makasama sya during lunch 😅 anndd during that time, wala sa isip ko na crush ko sya or what, literal na friends lang tingin ko sa kanya. But at one point lagi ko na sya gustong kasama and it made me sad pag nakikita syang kasama yung ibang female friends nya. Due to his pleasant personality, ”crush ng bayan” sa room. Yung isang friend pa nga nya ay nag seselos sa akin since crush nya rin si Rae (well same haha, I am upset whenever nakikita ko sila together. ( well background lang kung gaano ka “ likeable” si Rae).
Ayun, parang naging hobby na namin lumabas as “friends” ( well for me feeling ko date na haha), we went ice skating, movies, UAAP games, and mejo bongga na restaurants. Always KKB kami sa lahat ng labas namin. Then, during grade 12 hindi na kami classmates but we still remained close friends and dito na nga ako officially umamin haha ( tho I know halata na ako nung grade 11). I confessed through a handwritten letter with printed photos namin. I personally gave it to him. But, sabi nya he cannot reciprocate my feelings and I accepted it naman. Mahalaga lang sa akin ay malaman nya there is someone who truly admires and cares for him talaga. Then mejo awkward ng slight after, but nung birthday ko that year he gave me a bracelet. Grabe, first gift ever na I got from a guy that I REALLY LIKE. So mejo mixed but I thought, well close friends naman talaga kami kaya ganun.Well fast forward….we we’re stuck in pandemic and nag first year tayong lahat online. I suddenly thought of him and kinamusta ko sya, I think mga August 2020 ito. Madami kami napag usapan and isa yung time na binasa daw nya yung confession letter ko. The night that he read it, super umiyak daw sya, super as in! 😅 Kasi dun nya lang daw na feel na super special sya however hindi nga raw same yung feelings nya sa akin. But he confessed, naging crush nya rin ako during our grade 11, but hindi same sa level ng sa akin. We expressed din how much we missed each other and we were planning to meet up pag nasa Manila na ulit kami. I really appreciate Rae, kasi he never tooked advantage of my feelings. Never nya pinagkalat or pinag yabang yung mga ginawa ko for him hahaha especially yung confession ko.
Then after nun, August - December 2020, araw araw na kami nag c-chat. He sends a photo of his new haircut, rants about school, chika about our SHS classmates and may mga times na niloloko ko sya na bakit hindi na lang kami ganun, but I noticed, lagi sya nag s-sorry. ( may mga times kasi na umiiyak ata ako sa chat na serious asking him bakit hindi na lang ako 😭🤣) Nag sorry sya kasi friends nga lang raw kami. Then January 2021 came, I sent a tiktok video sa kanya na may punchline na “magiging jowa din kita soon” type of tiktok. Ayun, he replied na may jowa na raw sya, I thought joke lang. But, totoo haha. Of course nagulat ako kasi yung closeness namin during August 2020 onwards, ay parang mag jowa na? Haha. Kaya pala lagi sya nag s-sorry kasi di nya raw masabi agad and baka hindi na raw kami mag usap ulit. Well, tama sya. We never talked na ulit from January 2021- August that year. Nag uusap pero matipid and short lang. Well alam nya na nasaktan ako kasi I felt betrayed haha.
Thennn fast forward ulit haha December 2022, it’s my birthday andd kaloka! Haha hindi nya ako binati. You know sya yung friend mo na talagang mag tatampo ka pag no greetings at all kaya naman I pmed him na. Then nakalimutan daw nyaaa HMP. Naka deac din lahat soc meds nya kasi super hectic sya sa course nya. Then right after our Agape Day, I had the urge to call him! Haha never ko pa sya na call like ever pero I super missed him na talaga na hindi na ako nahiya. He picked up naman and video call pa talaga haha buti na lang maganda ako that night. Well as usual, super wholesome pa rin nya and fun. 4 hours din kami nag kamustahan and of course natanong ko if kamusta na jowa nya, well they broke up! 🤣🥳 ( di ko pala nasabi na si Rae pa yung niligawan ni gurl! haha he is that type of guy super shy but super deds mga girls 😅).Well sabi nya parang nasakal daw sya and super possessive si girl haha and di nya nakwento lahat about their breakup, pag nag meet na lang daw kami, share nya lahat.
Ayun from December 2022- May 2023, puro usap lang sa chats kahit both nasa Manila na kami. ANDD right after my exam nag chat sya, 6:17 pm of May 31, he asked me if I am free daw ba since pupunta sya US and he asked me if may gusto daw akong pasalubong hahahxgsgx. That’s the FIRST time ever na sya yung nag initiate and asked talaga! Kasi dati lagi g akong yung planner and nag a-aya. So ayun kinabukasan agad nag meet kami.
June 1. Our first meet up after THREE long years. I was sooo excited and nervous haha. So I waited for him sa LRT then I saw him… so tumakbo ako sa direction where he was standing and I saw his arms widely open for a hug 🥺 Hay, Rae my ever wholesome crush. So we hugged for a bit and sumakay na agad ng train. I didn’t know what to do…hinihila ko shirt nya and nagtatago ako sa likod nya 😭 Well nakaya ko naman kausapin sya and ayun na nasabi na nya when date alis nya and after that trip, may summer sya sa school. Then after our ride, pumunta na kami sa restaurant where we ate and nagkwento sya sa life updates sa ate ( and bis other sibs ) nya 😅 last update was wala pang lovelife but now meron na haha super cute kasi pati yun nakwekwento nya. Kahit yung paninigarilyo ng Daddy nya, sinasabi nya sa akin. Even his Lolo na huling kwento nya ay nung SHS kami. I feel special and entrusted kasi suoer shy sya sa ibang tao but he is sharing stories like these sa akin.
While we were eating nag picture kami and sabi ko I will tag him sa story ko and gusto ko, i-restory nya. BUT, ayaw nyaaa hahaha. Nung una sabi nya pangit daw sya sa pic ganun but umamin sya na ayaw nya makita ng ”ex” nya kasi isa din sa reasons why they broke up is nag seselos na pala sa akin yung gurl haha. May attitude si girl na nabubuksan nya IG ni Rae without his permission and andun messages namin. I don’t know why he needs to hide sa kanya, tho I know pero wala naman na sila eh. But I understand the girl kasi jowa nya may kausap na babae din na sweet nga din ang messages. But I was really clueless that time. Kahit during SHS naman, ganun na kami ni Rae.Well, back to my story nag photobooth kami and super fun and happy namin. I dont know pero I had the urge to kiss him sa booth 😭 Pero di ko kaya kasi baka maging awkward after?? HAHA but and cute ng pics namin after. Thenn nag DQ kami and quick chika kasi uuwi na kami :((.
On our way to LRT ulit nag lakad kami and dun ko lang na experience yung “sidewalk rule” ng mga gentleman. As in. Sinadya ko na nga ako sa may lane na may cars to test him. But heyyy HAHAHAAH sabi nya “ sa gilid ka” HAHSBSH grabe mahihimatay na ata ako that time… di ko kinaya super ngiti naman ako under my mask. Super gentleman and wholesome nya talaga kahit sa bus, like inaayos ko kang yung shorts ko and malapit na kasi yung kamay ko sa kamay nya and iniwaa nya talagaa HAHAHS like why napaka good boy naman. But nung nag bye na ulit kami sa may train, ako na nag initiate to side hug him and nag respond naman sya, he slightly grasp din my braso, still ang gentle nya.
Ayun that is the end of my story. Ay also pala, during SHS labas namin puro KKB, but last week, lahat sya yung nag pay for it. Kahit LRT and yung DQ. 🥺 LAHAT pati yung Life 4 Cuts namin haha. I was just puzzled, ano gusto nya? Haha I know malalim din friendship namin kaya we can go out na kami lang. Pero will it go further? Kasi after nun, I miss him everyday. Nonetheless, super grateful talaga ako for him. Sa wholesome friendship namin na may halong kilig. It’s just that first time na sya yung nag initiate and libre yung “friendly” date namin. Ayun, thank you for reading my story. To Rae, ako na lang kasi HAHSHSHS hay :(

2023.06.08 05:16 StudyOrnery7547 Seeking Guidance: Facing Job Challenges, Financial Strain, and Uncertainty

Hey everyone, I could really use some guidance at the moment as I'm facing some challenges in my life. In January 2022, I made a decision to leave my full-time job, which paid $22/hr and demanded 50-60 hours per week. One of the main reasons behind this choice was my dad's neck surgery, which left him unable to manage his business alone, so I stepped in to lend a hand.
Fast forward 18 months, and I've been pouring my heart and soul into growing my dad's business. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, it just isn't sustainable for two. I find myself earning an average monthly income of $2,010.50 before taxes, which adds up to roughly $20,500 per year after taxes.
Now, I lead a modest lifestyle. I drive a 26-year-old truck and spend almost all my time at home when I'm not working.
Right now, my biggest struggle is meeting my basic living costs. In order to make ends meet, I need a job that pays at least $17.00 per hour for 40 hours a week. The problem is that I recently moved to a rural area where prevailing wages range from $12 to $15 per hour. I'm feeling uncertain about what the best course of action might be. I don't hold a college degree or significant experience in a specific field, and I'm not keen on returning to my previous field of work. I don't have a partner who can assist with expenses either.
On top of all this, my truck's gas mileage is abysmal, sitting at around 11 MPG. If I were to work in my old city or even farther away, I'd end up spending over $500 per month on gas alone, adding an extra $6,000 to my annual expenses.
I'd be incredibly grateful for any advice, suggestions, or ideas you might have to help me figure out how to navigate this situation and improve my circumstances.

2023.06.08 05:10 Juliesy4512 This Eagles staff members may perhaps transfer

Exhausted: Profitable a Tremendous Bowl. WIRED: Successful a Tremendous Bowl through blowout and cementing oneself as 1 of the utmost dominant groups within just NFL record. I joking of training course, as it under no circumstances iredin direction of earn a Tremendous Bowl, primarily Although by yourself basically comprise a single in the direction of your credit score. And I don fairly treatment how the Eagles battle the Kansas Town Chiefs within Tremendous Bowl 57, basically that they do. If it demands them in direction of crawl previously mentioned weakened glass in direction of eke out a 1-place victory, the euphoria will be exactly as comprehensive and potent as if they acquire through 4 touchdowns. Consequently as your self browse the loosen up of this tale, you should recognize that I am not anticipating the Birds in direction of blow out the Chiefs inside the Tremendous Bowl, nor do I believe that it the just sensible kind of victory. Obtain the trophy. Incorporate the parade. Fly the flag. That all that things. Nonetheless if we zoom out and greedily let ourselves in direction of gaze at the more substantial think about, we can view the Eagles are upon the precipice of some thing incredible. A huge victory in excess of Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and the unwind of an unbelievable Chiefs squad in just 2 months would cement the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles as a person of the NFL most significant groups of all-year. Imagine relating to that. Believe that around the largest NFL groups at any time assembled Nolan Smith Jersey. The unbeaten 1972 Dolphins, the 1985 Bears juggernaut that went 15-2 and routed their direction toward a Tremendous Bowl victory, the 1984 and 9 49ers, the 2007 Patriots (of course, the types that shed their excellent period in the direction of Eli Manning), Washington in just 1991, the 9 Rams, people Steelers groups of outdated, the 2 Cowboys, 8 Broncos. The 2022 Eagles may perhaps sign up for them, relying upon the consequence of Tremendous Bowl 57. In opposition to the to start with 7 days of the time until eventually already, the Eagles had been the NFL least difficult staff members. They incredibly comprise no holes. Their offense was relentless 7 days-inside of and 7 days-out, in a position in the direction of dominate the operate video game with their operating backs or their QB or toss the ball all previously mentioned the business toward A. J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. They incorporate the least complicated offensive line within just soccer, the least complicated cornerback trio inside soccer and a defensive line that designed historical past this year. The Eagles' security led the NFL inside of sacks this time as a result of 15, the greatest superior margin simply because the league formally started out monitoring staff members sacks in just 1963. . . Merely the AFL Oakland Raiders within just 1967 experienced a extra intensive direct at the season close Their simply hiccup arrived While Jalen Hurts, who likely must be the league MVP, disregarded 2 of the past a few game titles of the time with a shoulder problems https://www.eagleslocker.com/Tyree_Jackson_Jersey-58. Experienced Hurts not gotten damage, they virtually of course would incorporate overwhelmed the Fresh new Orleans Saints, and one particular would expect he would not comprise thrown 2 interceptions versus the Cowboys upon Xmas Eve. With their commencing QB underneath middle, this staff incredibly possibly would include long gone 16-1. By now it affordable in the direction of notice that, inside words of monthly year stage differential, the Eagles+133 was in this article that of the 49ers (+173) and the Charges (+169). The Eagles experienced a pair conclusion wins for the duration of the month to month time and their 2 losses below Gardner Minshew ended up not successful, consequently if there a hit from this community, it that. Yet don't forget that even with their asyprogram, they performed within just the merely office within just soccer within just which no workers done less than. 500 and contain long gone 9-1 from profitable groups this yr, a background handful of within heritage incorporate been capable in direction of sport. Eagles stored the two the 49ers and Giants towards 7 or less pointsFirst personnel within the playoffs in the direction of do that mainly because Ravens 23 yrs in the past Whoever wins the Tremendous Bowl, background tells us it will most likely be through excess than a touchdown. Within just the 56 prior online games, basically 21 of them (37. 5%) ended up determined through a person ranking, like the Birds8-issue victory about the Patriots within just Tremendous Bowl 52. 30-a single occasions (55. 3%), the successful workers gained by means of 10 or added, and there include been 13 instances (23. 2%) in which the victory was through a few touchdowns or excess. Back again, wel hungrily devour any Tremendous Bowl victory, be it through a single truth or 30, still my childhood is littered with recollections of those people blowouts. May perhaps we look at yet another within just 2 months? Perhaps, nonetheless it not heading. Even upon a gimpy leg, Mahomes is continue to the great within just the sport, and Reid is made up of cemented himself as a of course-hearth, initially ballot Corridor of Famer. Kansas Metropolis contains a sturdy move hurry of their particular, tempo all in excess of the market and are younger and hungry. Whoever wins, the margin of victory is heading in the direction of be in just 1 rating, and it simply as almost certainly the Eagles order blown out as they would blow out the Chiefs. That reported, K. At the conclude of the working day, all that items is the Birds get the dang activity, a thing they are completely effectively-situated in direction of do. Crown 'em? The Eagles are the 5th personnel towards acquire the Divisional Playoffs and Meeting Championship by way of at minimum 21 facts. Just about every of the final 4 groups gained the Tremendous Bowl. By means of 21 specifics or 1, a Tremendous Bowl victory will make the 2022 Eagles the most significant inside of franchise background. And thatl be sufficient.

I'd be incredibly grateful for any advice, suggestions, or ideas you might have to help me figure out how to navigate this situation and improve my circumstances.

Here my expenses are broken down:

(I didn't account for truck maintenance expenses or occasional treats and splurges.)

2023.06.08 04:48 Mission_Emergency_36 I am 32 years old, a full time RN-BSN student, live in Texas, and currently make ~$535 monthly.

BACKGROUND
Long story short I spent 8 years on the West Coast holding increasingly important positions in the energy industry, but I hated it with every fiber of my being. I started taking nursing prerequisite courses in January of 2020. Family trauma happened. I moved home to Texas to be closer to my family, quit my job (was making ~$130k with bonus), and took the plunge and went to back to school for nursing at 31. I am half way done with an accelerated BSN program and I have a 4.0 GPA. I love it so much despite it being very difficult. I have externship currently and I have an ICU internship lined up for my final semester, which is basically a guaranteed new grad job.
I currently live with my mom and brother. We are remodeling our house so we are in an apartment for a bit. Very tight quarters but thankful to be with them. Boyfriend just successfully made a big career move and is now a superintendent for an important and well respected organization in town making $60k annually with a 8% bonus. Very proud of him and very excited for our future - we are talking about getting engaged in the next year. He is getting an apartment in the next couple months after living at home with his family due to some major family health issues he has been helping out with so you will see some of the apartment search start to happen in this diary!
Currently boyfriend and I split going out expenses pretty much down the line, but with this new job we had a discussion last week about how he will pay for the majority of our going out costs moving forward once he gets his first paycheck this month until I start working full time again in January!
Previous money diary from August 2022 here.
ASSETS (comparing last money diary to now):

August 2022 June 2023 Difference
401k $156,400 $158,600 $2,200
Roth IRA $68,000 $68,500 (500)
Saving's account $41,001.43 $26,572.63 ($14,428.81)
Checking Account $3,024.58 $915.41 ($2,109)
HSA $8,800 $7,100 ($1,700)
Brokerage $440 $444 $4
UGMA $85,000 $84,000 ($1,000)
Pension forgot to include $27,000 N/A
NET WORTH: $373k
**I don’t carry any credit card debt / no student loan debt / no equity in any kind of home. I was lucky enough to be in a position where I saved up over $40k cash to pay for living expenses when in school. My UGMA account will be used as part of a down payment for a house in the next couple years. My current BSN degree is being covered through family. Also, trying to figure out what to do with my pension - depending how finances go the next 8 months I am in school / if I have any emergencies (I have 2 senior pets) I could cash part of it out or completely roll it over into an IRA.
INCOME
Income Progression: I worked in the energy industry for 8 years; my starting salary was $35,000.
I worked in the Seattle area starting out at $35k in 2014. Moved to a new job in 2016 for $65k and then another new job in 2018 for $85k +12% bonus. Got up to $104k + 20% bonus before I quit. Also worked as a CNA on the weekends for about 6 months for $15 an hour during COVID to make sure I really wanted to go to nursing school.
Main Job Monthly Take Home: It varies but the average so far this year it is $535. I have an incredibly flexible externship at a hospital very close to where I live where my director literally just lets me show up whenever I want to work. I make $17 an hour. I met a couple incredible mentors but I think I am going to quit soon since it just won’t be feasible to work this semester and I already have my ICU internship lined up for September. Trying to be easier on myself and put myself first and I feel very lucky that I don’t need to work. Don’t get me wrong the extra money is SO NICE but I want to concentrate on school, myself, family, partner, and friends. Work on top of an accelerated nursing program is too much. I am actually the only one working in my cohort currently.
Any Other Monthly Income Here: I live with my mom right now and she pays for most of the groceries, utilities, etc. I feel incredibly privileged and lucky that I can live with her and that she is able to support me in this way while I transition careers. I do lots for her to support her such as chores, errands, paying for big Costco runs, etc. My boyfriend also helps out with pet expenses and other things I want / need.
MONTHLY EXPENSES
I allocate the following to my biggest expense categories monthly:
WEDNESDAY - DAY 1
8:45: I slept 10 hours last night and it was glorious. I worked a 12 hour shift at the hospital yesterday and our patient acuity was very high.
9:30: Make a coffee and walk and feed my pup. I walk over to the pool for a morning swim. I love a quiet morning swim so much.
11:30: I had a nice 500 yd swim, drank a Premier Protein shake & ate overnight oats with blueberries for breakfast, had a relaxing shower, and started some laundry. Feeling anxious about everything I have on my plate currently. Also I feel hungover from work yesterday. I was going to work another 12 hour shift tomorrow but now I don’t know if I can handle it with school also starting on Friday and a very busy social weekend coming up. Luckily, my director literally lets me show up whenever I want so I may do 7 or 8 hours tomorrow instead of a full 12. Try to table my feelings to discuss in therapy this afternoon.
11:40: Sit down to finish some online orientation for my internship that is coming up my final semester.
13:03: Orientation stuff only took about 20 minutes thank god. I ran to the grocery store and grab a 4 pack of watermelon Celsius, frozen veggies, Eggo waffles, tea bags, string cheese, coffee filters, Wheat Thins, and lean ground beef ($37.01). Head up to the rooftop lounge at the apartment complex to FaceTime a friend that lives across the country since there is zero privacy in the apartment.
14:15: Get off FaceTime, work on some more laundry, and head out to therapy.
16:15: Good, productive, fun, and validating therapy session and I make it over to my friend’s condo to check on her kitties. I had set up a reoccurring biweekly therapy appointment now that I know my school schedule for the upcoming semester too. We talked about money fixation and anxiety and trying to let that go. We agree that I should sleep in a bit tomorrow, walk my dog, go for a swim, and then go to work. I don’t ~need~ the money so working 12 hours vs 7 or 8 is not an issue. My mental health is more important. Also the work hangover from yesterday is real.
17:00: Boyfriend comes over after work and jumps in the shower while I’m a couch potato (Disclaimer: he’s friends with my friend too and she’s 100% comfortable with him hanging out too.) We relax and hang with the kitties and catch up on our days.
18:45: We head to dinner. We grab burritos at one of our favorite local spots and I pay ($25.88). We look at houses for fun on Zillow and discuss what apartments we want to tour in the next couple weeks.
20:00: I make it home and have a long talk with my mom about her friend who ended up in the hospital today with a compound fracture. Long story short I’ll need to stay up until midnight to hand off the house keys, garage door opener, etc. to a friend who is driving into town that can take care of her dog. Her dog is a pit bull that is vicious to strangers so no one else can go over to the house other than this friend who pet sits and knows the dog.
23:30: The friend makes it and we hand him the keys and everything he needs. I had spent the evening tidying up and meal prepping and looking at more apartments. It’s amazing to me how much time goes into keeping a clean and tidy home.
12:08: I spent a half hour setting up my June budget and then pass out.
TOTAL: $62.89
THURSDAY - DAY 2
9:05: I finally wake up to a bunch of texts from multiple different friends / friend groups. Ugh. I’m just feeling really anxious about school starting tomorrow, my mom being very distraught over her colleague / friend, working today, and a busy weekend coming up. I make some coffee and walk my pup.
9:33: I call my mom while feeding my pup breakfast and tell her how I’m feeling and we both agreed I ran around too much last semester and I told her I am setting firm boundaries with myself to basically not do anything social during the school week once clinical start (Monday - Thursday) unless it’s like a super casual dinner and I truly have the capacity for it. I burned myself out at the end of last semester and spent weeks putting the pieces back together.
9:55: I make another cup of coffee and take myself for a morning swim. It brings me so much joy and grounds me. I swim 500 yards and then jump into the shower, throw my scrubs on, kiss my pup goodbye and head to the hospital. I drink a chocolate Primer Protein shake and call my friend L on the way to hear how her trip has been going so far. It was nice to catch up even though we saw each other over the weekend lol.
10:54: Ate my overnight oats made with half and half and some blueberries, clocked in, and headed out to the floor. Immediately get asked to be a sitter which literally never happens. Thank you universe. Feeling a little less anxious now that I’m here and feeling thankful for the little bit of extra money I’m making and being here for my community.
14:04: Maybe not thank you universe - the patient slept for a while then got extremely combative and was trying to punch me. I switch off with a coworker and head to the break room to eat a bowl I made with frozen veggies + rotisserie chicken from Costco + cheddar cheese on top.
19:09: I finally clock out. I had a snack of 2 rice cakes and some almonds at one point. Rest of work was wild (i.e. a psychotic patient that pulled out his IV and was throwing things everywhere, someone screaming in pain for hours nonstop, etc.) and had me questioning what I am doing making this career change. I am tired.
19:49: I make it home after swinging by L’s to check on her kitties. Jump in the shower. My mom has dinner ready and I scarf down this gorgeous basil, mozzarella, peppers, tomatoes, avocados, and olive salad + a couple Trader Joe’s dolmas + a couple pieces of fresh bread. Delicious. I force myself to get my food and my school bag ready for tomorrow and lay my scrubs out before I crawl into bed a little after 9.
TOTAL: $0
FRIDAY - DAY 3
06:22: Alarm goes off and I roll out of bed and take my pup for a nice walk. Give him breakfast / shower / throw on my scrubs / pack my lunch / give the pup a big kiss goodbye and I am out the door a little after 7:00.
07:47: I get to school and I am NOT feeling it lol. I stopped at Costco for gas on my way ($20.67) and I also swung by a very Texas niche store that sells all kinds of beef jerky my brother really likes to grab some for his birthday coming up ($17.98).
10:00: Class is boring - it’s tough getting back into it with an 8 hour cardiac lecture. It’s good to see my friends but struggle is real. I run into my favorite professor and she makes my morning. I tell her all about my upcoming internship and my boyfriend’s new job and she was stoked and told me to “lock him down” hahaha. I also make 2 phone calls to apartment complexes we are interested in cause my boyfriend doesn’t get great reception at work during business hours. One place doesn’t have any current availability but the lady was so nice and will be sending me a virtual tour later today. Schedule another tour on Monday afternoon.
11:30: We break for lunch and I eat the same thing as yesterday - rotisserie chicken + frozen veggies + cheddar cheese.
12:30: Spend the afternoon in class completely unable to concentrate. The professor is throwing ECG rhythms around left and right. 8 hours of ECG lecture is NOT a productive way to learn the material. I work on a couple study guides during class cause I cannot.
3:30: We get out a little early and I rush to meet my mom for a walk through of the house. I follow her back to her office because I sent a big Chewy order there. Pick up the box along with a Diet Coke, order us Cava for dinner, pick up Cava, check on my friends cats on my way home real quick, and then have a shower and relax. Mom pays for Cava and I thank her multiple times.
7:00: We eat dinner all together when everyone is eventually home (harissa avocado bowl for me!) and then my boyfriend calls right when I head out to walk my dog. Perfect. I miss him and have been having anxiety around our new schedules. We have a good 30 minute chat about our days before I spend the evening basically doing nothing. I chat with my family and mess around on my phone. Text boyfriend about different apartments.
22:44: Bed time after I brush and floss my teeth. I’m zonked from the week.
TOTAL: $38.65
SATURDAY - DAY 4
08:30: I’m awake! Did not sleep well at all cause thunderstorms. My pup is deathly afraid and will not stop shaking for hours so I end up sleeping on the couch on and off. We were up and down all night but somehow I feel okay. We go for a quick walk, feed him, and start a load of whites in the washer.
09:08: I have a shower, and then I head out to get my family coffee from one of our favorite spots.
10:45: Make it back home with 2 cold brews for my brother and I and a latte for mom. I also picked up 5 breakfast tacos and a German chocolate cake for Sunday dinner tomorrow ($56.24). I eat a bean and cheese taco and a potato and egg taco, start some laundry, and put air in my tires with my home compressor since my low air light has been on in my car for an embarrassing amount of time. Brother needs air in his tires too so turns into a production lol.
12:18: Spent a couple hours putzing around dealing with the tires and more laundry and packing a bag for tonight. We are headed to the lake for a friend’s bday party and I have no clue what I want to wear so I pack a lot of options and clothes for church tomorrow morning too. Now it’s time to drive around for a little bit and check out some potential apartments and do a small Target run.
14:02: I make it home from apartment cruising and my Target run. I bought a 3 subject notebook, tire pressure gauge with valve caps included, two bags of frozen veggies, mini coke zeros, and a bag of Lesser Evil popcorn ($21.50). I was so tempted to stop for lunch on my way home but lines were long everywhere so I made myself some cheesy eggs + 2 Eggo waffles when I got home. Put the valve cap on my tire that is missing one.
14:36: Make it to L’s condo and clean up after the cats and start the Roomba. Boyfriend texts that he is out of work and on his way over! He’s been up since 4 am this morning for work and I am feeling some type of way with everything on my plate / anxiety so we will see how long we make it tonight lol.
15:30: S is showered and we are out the door!
16:30: We make it to the rental, change into our bathing suits, and walk down to the river.
19:00: We hang out in the river for a good 2.5 hours. It was a good time - nice to chat with my school friends and their partners. Boyfriend and I head out before the real partying starts lol.
20:00: We eat dinner at this cute Tex Mex place. Boyfriend has some kind of alcoholic mixed drink and we share a fajita for 2 plate. Boyfriend pays - it was $70.56 with tip. I drive us back because he does not like to drive even after one drink which I am 100% here for. We are so tired lol.
21:15: Make it back to L’s condo and we take a hot shower and get into bed in the guest bedroom. It takes forever for us to both fall asleep.
TOTAL: $77.74
SUNDAY - DAY 5
6:50: Oh boy neither of us slept well. There was another thunderstorm. One of the cats was yowling nonstop outside our door. The ceiling fan was clanking on and off. The bed was way too soft. Up and down again all night for a second night in a row for me lol.
8:11: I’m showered and we are both dressed and we head out to one of our favorite taquerias for breakfast. I get 2 bean and cheese tacos and one machacado + egg taco. Boyfriend also gets 3 tacos and we both get coffee. We sit and chat for a while until it was time to go to church. I pay on the way out ($22.98 with tip).
11:40: After an hour of church and an hour meeting for a committee I’m on - I’m wiped out. Still have a house walk through to do with my family and boyfriend so I head over there and we are there for about an hour.
13:10: Finally made it home, walked my pup, and made myself a late lunch of Dave’s Killer bread toast + peanut butter + banana.
13:54: A girlfriend calls and asks if I want to get a pedicure this afternoon. We decide to get dinner together on Thursday instead. I’m actually very touched she called me because we are friends through another friend and normally don’t get together just the two of us. I’m really happy she reached out. I also invite one of my friends from school - I have been wanting them to meet for a while.
14:30: Nap timeeeee! I knock out for an hour then realize how thirsty I am and how badly I need to get out of the apartment. I get up, take the pup for a spin with my brother, and head to Sonic to get a large diet cherry limeade and then head to L’s condo to check on the kitties and chill ($3.34).
18:00: I spent a couple hours chilling on the internet - working on my google calendar, school organization, church emails, reviewing some apartments we may drive by tomorrow, and I download the remaining episodes of season 1 of Nurse Jackie to watch tonight. I had bought the complete first season over a month ago and still haven’t watched it all lol. That’s how little I watch tv.
20:00: We had bibimbap for dinner and German chocolate cake for dessert. Delicious. I clean up the dishes and do more laundry because that’s my life between school, work, working out, having 2 hairy pets, etc. Unpack my bags from the river day and sleepover last night too. Chat with my family.
22:00: Crawl into bed and watch some Nurse Jackie before passing out.
TOTAL: $26.32
MONDAY - DAY 6
7:33: I slept better but still tossed and turned. Still just anxious with everything going on, especially the start of another intense semester.
8:47: Pup is fed and walked. I open the windows because it is 68 degrees which is unheard of in June in south Texas.
10:06: I ended up doing a deep clean of my room hahah. Wiped down and vacuumed every surface. So much hair. My pup is shedding so bad. I change my bedding and toss my comforter in the wash. Thank goodness I have 2 sets of sheets now. I had only 1 for the longest time lol. I take a break and eat some Greek yogurt + pecans + banana + drizzle of honey.
11:03: I vacuumed the common areas in the apartment, took a long shower, and I’m dressed and ready for my boyfriend to pick me up. I felt like being cute today so I put on this new leather skirt from Alice + Olivia my boyfriend got me as a present that I haven’t worn yet + a white crop top + my cheetah old skool Vans. I’m so tired though lololol. This is one of the only Mondays we both have off for the foreseeable future so I am gonna rally and make the most of it!
11:15: Boyfriend is so tired too bahah. We go grab coffees at this cute little coffee shop I’ve been wanting to check out. I get a cortado. Boyfriend gets an iced caramel almond milk latte and I treat ($11.82 with tip). We sit and chill and map out what apartments we want to check out today.
12:30: Walk across the street to grab Tex Mex for lunch at a pretty famous place in town. I get the enchilada plate and boyfriend gets a chicken quesadilla plate. He pays and it is $27.89 with tip.
1:30: Go for our first apartment tour of the day and it is depressing. We drive around and check out the other apartments we are I interested in and then go on one more tour at a place that we are really impressed by. It’s $1.3k or so for a 500 sq ft one bedroom and that’s a stretch. Ideally he wants the base rent to be $1,000 or less which is quite doable. Yet again - south Texas prices for the win. He is looking at older buildings, but they are well kept up and in good neighborhoods. They are not in the hottest places to be in town, but definitely still nice.
16:00: We go back to L’s condo and chill and take care of the kitties. Discuss the apartments and ask my brother if he wants to get dinner with us and he agrees.
18:00: We head back to my apartment, pick up my brother, and head to dinner. We order a large caesar salad, an arugula and sausage pizza, and a mushroom and pepperoni pizza. This spot does $10 two topping pizzas on Monday and it slaps. I treat my boyfriend and brother to dinner ($48.01 with tip).
20:00: Home and boyfriend walks my pup with me. Brother makes us both tea and we have a nice cup of tea and chat until boyfriend heads home. I put together my breakfast and lunch tomorrow and then lay down to chill and have some quiet time.
22:30: Bed time! First day of critical care didactic is tomorrow and I am feeling mostly excited.
TOTAL: $59.82
TUESDAY - DAY 7
6:22: My alarm goes off and wakes me from a deep sleep. I finally slept a good 8 hours though!
7:10: I am showered and throw on some black Lululemon Align leggings and a swiftly tech tee. I was gonna wear real pants but screw that haha. I am really dragging this morning.
7:50: Make it to school and lecture starts at 8. Honestly - that lecture could have been given in 45 minutes but we spent the first 2 hours simply going over the schedule and clarifying assignments since everything is such a disorganized hot mess at the beginning of the semester.
10:05: We take a break and call a fellow church congregation member to see if we want to meet today to tour an organization that supports people immigrating. We are debating if we want to allocate church donation funds to them. We agree to meet at the location at 1:30.
12:41: We are done with class and I stayed a bit after to start making my study guide for our first test even though it isn’t for 5 weeks. I realize the time and quickly pack up and go heat up my lunch. Chat with an MSN student who I had met in orientation for my internship a couple weeks ago and he expressed his frustration about how the start of this semester is rough for him too.
2:38: We finish our tour and we are very impressed at the clean and organized operation. We agree to each write our own follow up email to the rest of the group before the end of the day supplying the church donating.
3:30: I make some jasmine tea and have some quiet time when I get home before starting on some dosage calculation problems that are due on Friday.
5:45: I end up spending almost 2.5 hours on homework - dosage calculations, an article summary, and start on a medication sheet. Ouch. I lay down for 20 minutes, take my pup out, and then head out to meet my friend for dinner at Cava.
6:30: I get the lemon chicken bowl and pita chips ($13.69) and we sit and chat for a 1.5 hours. We just saw each other a couple weeks ago, but so much to catch up on.
20:00: We agree to go on a double date in the next couple weeks and I head home. I walk my pup with my mom and brother, pack my gym bag and my food for tomorrow, write my follow up emails from today’s visit to the church committee, and relax in bed.
TOTAL: $13.69
TALLY OF DAILY EXPENSES:
TOTAL EXPENSES: $279.11
REFLECTION
I spent quite a bit on going out to eat this week with my boyfriend, family, and friends. It was the end of my school break and boyfriend is transitioning to a new job so we were a bit out of whack with spending on food. Usually we eat at home with our families more, but it was nice to go out and enjoy ourselves too. It was a super busy week for me too - which is the norm lately. I have a great community and social life here compared to the West Coast and I do not take that for granted. Trying to make myself more of a priority so I don’t burn out again, which is difficult for me.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated developers for taking the time to read through this lengthy petition. We understand the immense workload that comes with considering and implementing the requested features, and we appreciate your attention to the wishes and concerns of the passionate members of our community.
We are fully aware that fulfilling these requests may come at the expense of content production, an outcome that both the community and the development team are wary of. However, we would like to draw your attention to the success and overwhelming community support experienced by other game developers, such as those behind Rainbow Six Siege, during their "Operation Health" initiative. With Dead by Daylight having been around for a substantial period of time, we believe that a dedicated effort for at least one content cycle is warranted to address the concerns raised in this petition.
We acknowledge that the list of demands presented may appear overwhelming. However, we want to emphasize that complete satisfaction of all requests is not necessary to significantly improve the game and its community. We kindly request that, upon careful consideration of these requests, the development team provide a response item by item, sharing their thoughts on each part. It would be immensely helpful to understand which subset of the requests we can anticipate as short, medium, and long-term goals, as well as which features may undergo multiple revisions to make them more robust over time.
Furthermore, we are curious to learn the team's general attitude regarding the release of developer support tools to the broader community or the prioritization of in-house technologies for long-term productivity over short-term content demands. We believe that open communication and transparency in these matters will foster a stronger bond between the community and the development team.
Once again, we extend our gratitude for your time, consideration, and dedication to creating an outstanding gaming experience. We eagerly await your response and remain hopeful that our collective efforts will lead to a brighter future for Dead by Daylight and its passionate community.

2023.06.08 04:33 primcrge Recommendation: Blue Dust Trilogy

Hello everyone!

I recently finished reading the Blue Dust Trilogy by Chu Tu (除徒), and I honestly fell in love with it. These works were an amzing read, so I wanted to share these wonderful stories and my thoughts about them.
The three works are sci-fi, each set at different points in the distant future. The first and third stories feature human/nonhuman relationships.

Cerulean Planet (浅蓝惑星)

I found this series thanks to the first work, Cerulean Planet. It has 21 chapters and has been completely translated. It tells the story of love against all odds between a human and an alien who initially start as enemies but, after an incident while in combat, end up stranded together on a remote planet.
We have Jiayun (MC) and Jianing (ML), both belonging to different species, each with their own judgments, ethics, and morals. At the beginning, they are both arrogant and struggle to understand one another. It's understandable, considering the significant change they undergo in a difficult situation, and the other's opinions and attitude make it even more challenging. Their relationship is what made this such a compelling story for me; they insulted each other, they fought, and they had their differences, but they learned to overcome them because they truly wanted to get to know each other, because they started seeing each other as equals and wanted to open up to each other. Enmity and misconceptions turn into understanding, connection, intimacy, and, ultimately, genuine love. I loved how the author developed their relationship, with a subtle and natural development despite the rocky (understatement) beginning.
“I want to understand you, more, and more deeply. You and I are so unalike, yet I have never truly looked upon you with contempt or disdain. I am merely interested in knowing everything there is about you.”
Their bickering and teasing was so amusing; Jiayun wasn't the kindest person towards the alien at first, and Jianing matched Jiayun's energy. Jiayun would never win whatever arguments they had, but he was very clever and later turned things around.

Weightless (失重)
some lines and names might be incorrect since I MTLed them, so sorry for any inaccuracies
Raw link to 2nd and 3rd work
Weightless is the second work in the series, with a total of 50 chapters, and it's set in a time long before Cerulean Planet. The relationship portrayed here is human/human, and the story is written in first person, which adds a captivating and intimate touch to every chapter. Unfortunately, it hasn't been translated, but I couldn't let go of this universe yet, so I ended up MTLing it, and I'm so glad I did!
I loved Cerulean Planet but I loved loved loved Weightless. Although MTLing it wasn't the same as reading a human translation—without the same nuance and interpretation as with the first work—it was still quite readable. The story still resonated with me, and the plot and themes were fascinating.
Here, we join Su (MC) and his fellow crewmates as they prepare to embark on a space mission. Among them is Wu Wang (ML), who entered the competition midway to be a part of the mission, resulting in a one-sided rivalry between Su and him. This rivalry now makes Su feel on edge and remain guarded against Wu Wang, expecting retaliation for his past actions now that there's nowhere else to go. The tension between them was palpable, and the limited space only intensified their interactions. There's a sense of uncertainty that permeates throughout the story, and as the plot unfolds, the characters face difficult choices and circumstances that impact them and shape the development of their relationship.
I especially loved going through this journey with Su, a character who embodies humanity's thirst for knowledge and who has a longing for belonging. He knows there's so much to learn and experience out there in the vast universe. He's fascinated by it and has overcome numerous hardships, dedicating his life to reaching this point, determined to witness and explore for himself.
"Belonging. It's like when I first encountered the primitive ocean on earth when I was young, I saw the vastness, magnificence, and turbulence, but the waves inside were calm. I want to be a part of it, to rise and fall with its waves, to swim in the boundless sea.[...]Then, I began to crave something broader. Boundless, nothing to rely on, just a drop in the ocean. This is the home."
He complements Wu Wang so well—an unmatched genius who is taciturn and nonchalant yet deeply caring towards Su. Wu Wang keeps much of himself guarded, but through Su's perspective, we gradually come to know him and unravel the depths of his character and the motivations that drive him. I adored both of them and their profound love for each other.

The Observer (观察者)
This is the final work in the trilogy, with 34 chapters. It hasn't been translated either; however, the MTL was still readable. Set many years after Cerulean Planet, we follow our MC on his journey home, making sense of his existence and his place in the universe—a universe that seems much more merciless and brutal than in the previous works.
Throughout his journey, he encounters different individuals that contribute to his personal growth and development. The narrative beautifully captures his diverse interactions with beings from different backgrounds, each leaving a unique mark on him. The way these encounters shape and influence him, along with his enduring memory of those who showed him kindness and love, made for a very emotional and meaningful read.
While this work focuses more on our MC's journey, I still found it very romantic. During his voyage, he meets our ML, a character who, despite having faced the cruelties of his world, strives to make the best of his situation and simply survive. I really admired the ML here: honest and strong-willed, refusing to step on others to seek a life of luxury. They both get to experience genuine romantic affection, tenderness, and desire for each other; they respect each other's decisions and see each other for who they truly are.
"Remember the tree-climbing story I told you? All I want is a piece of soil where I can take root. I don't want to depend on others to survive. I want to keep my feet on the ground, and find the important things in my life bit by bit."

I absolutely adored the characters in all three works, and they left a lasting impression on me. Each of them was very unique and felt really well-developed. None of them are without their flaws, and some may initially come across as mean or selfish. They make mistakes and have regrets, get overwhelmed and anxious by their circumstances, but they overcome their challenges and carry on because, really, there's no other way but to push forward. Their journeys and evolution throughout the trilogy offer a compelling exploration of the human spirit.
The way the author described faraway planets, the vastness of space and the sea, and the various alien species were really interesting, it created very vivid imagery and was beautifully conveyed. One detail that I particularly loved was how music played a role throughout the trilogy, showcasing the diverse expressions of civilizations across the universe. Music is such a powerful art form that it provides glimpses into others' history, culture, emotions, and dreams. Even though the characters may not have fully grasped its meaning, they were still deeply moved by it, and it brought them closer together.
I particularly enjoy stories like these because they serve as a poignant reminder of our vulnerability while also showcasing the remarkable resilience and endurance inherent in the human spirit. It makes us question our perception of the world around us as well as contemplate the nature of humanity, individuality, and the search for a sense of place and meaning. They show us how even a brief encounter can transform our lives and shape who we are, highlighting the lasting impact of love and its ability to enrich our existence, especially in the intimate moments and cherished memories we create with others. What I loved most was how the author portrayed these ideas in such a captivating manner without feeling overly preachy or artificial; instead, they felt genuine, encouraged open-mindedness, and left plenty of room for our imagination to play.
I think that Cerulean Planet can be enjoyed as a standalone since the other two works introduce different characters and relationships. However, all three works are intricately connected, providing additional insights and recontextualizing certain elements.
I definitely recommend them!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading the three works, they were very beautiful, lovely, sweet, thoughtful, and heart-wrenching; the stories and characters will definitely linger with me. If anyone is interested in reading, please do check the content warnings on Novel Updates and the translator's page for Cerulean Planet, as it contains mature and explicit content.
