So I just moved out of the house I was renting on the 30th. I had a past due balance for my water bill which I was going to pay today. Well my landlord went to the water department and paid the bill. The water company, which is run by our city, wants me to pay them what the landlord paid so they can reimburse him. I already had a payment arrangement set up for this balance to be paid today. He paid it without asking me anything about it. So my question is, do I have to pay the water company so they can reimburse him?

I am debating if I should invest in a normal bike or an ebike, but I’ve never had a bike so I don’t really have context for how fast you move thru a city on one. I’ve gathered that ebikes go up to like 20 or 28mph depending on class, but how much faster is that than a normal bike?
I’m looking to use the bike/ebike for transportation, not for recreation (not that there’s anything wrong with that, just not my purpose). I just want to get where I’m going in a good timeframe. I was a college athlete and have kept myself in decent shape, but still don’t want to ride across town to be sweating while I’m at the store or something.
Also how much do hills affect speed once you’ve shifted gears? I live in Portland so it’s not terribly hilly but there are some areas that it would be a factor.

I’m at my wits end here, the coach of our department has started targeting our department worse than she already does.
This week one of my coworkers had put in a ethics report on our coach for racism and other things that I don’t know every detail about but the main thing is for being racist, suddenly this Wednesday our coach tells said coworker that they were terminated, the coworker says they want to open door the termination with the store manager and the coach tells them that “the store manager said they don’t want to hear it” which doesn’t sound like the store manager at all (they are a super nice and open person)
Coworker left for the day but came back in that Thursday and clocked in because they weren’t actually terminated because that coach couldn’t get other managers to sign off on the termination (coach went to our team lead who didn’t agree to terminate and then to a different team lead in a different department and they also said no)
That day the SM heard about what was going on and said they hadn’t even known the termination was going on nor heard about an open door request, but for some reason my coworker got suspended with the reason being that “it’ll force the investigation to be completed faster” but yet the coach is still working not suspended (someone make that make sense for me please)
So now that the coach didn’t get their way they are now watching the cameras (even more than they already do) and “investigating” our time and such, today pulling me to the back questioning and making me write a statement about why I clock in for work in the parking lot before I’m inside and why I’m buying a drink when not on break then later in my shift looking for me a second time to either talk to me again or to talk to a different person in my department
This coach does things like this often so much that they have been made to move stores twice but now that they are here nothing is ever done like I thought retaliation was one of those major things that gets people fired for doing but this coach does it and the person they do it to is the one who gets suspended, they openly lie to someone about an open door request that I didn’t think could be denied when requested gets caught lying about it by multiple people and nothing is done about it
Like I feel like this coach can get away with anything just short of actual crime without any consequences or accountability and I just don’t know what to do anymore, we’ve talked to ethics we’ve talked to the SM nobody does anything

I don't know if this post is appropriate, but I'm in need of advice or input.
Our local Petco has one of those typical "feeder fish" tanks in the aquarium supplies section.
We have a red-eared slider, so we figured we might as well purchase some for her. However, we didn't have it in us to use them as feeders and since we had a 10-gallon tank, we moved them in there to live with our mosquitofish. Unfortunately, they developed a disease, which they probably had the whole time, and died off, taking down the mosquitofish with them.
We were hoping to go back to the pet store to purchase some more, this time not introducing them to any aquarium tank without first quarantining them (I stupidly and terribly underestimated the importance of that).
But I came across an unexpected obstacle.
Apparently, I found out that the NH fish and game department requires a permit to possess fathead minnows and many other North American fish. My question is does that include rosy reds?
So I can feed them to anything I want but I cannot possess them? Surely a permit would not be required for me to possess a mere feeder fish, right?
Are they not considered "domesticated" and therefore legal? Also, what if our turtle doesn't even eat the fish? Are they legal to keep as long as there's a predator in there with them?
Is Petco breaking the law by selling fathead minnows?
But if we do need a permit to possess them, how could we obtain such a permit? I don't know if this is the right place to post these questions, but I figured that some of you out there would have run into the same obstacle.

Some of my comrades stopped their screeching/screaming and started cheering. Some were stunned at how the captain was acting in this time. Honestly he was better than me with leading. You must be asking yourselves how did we got into this mess in the first place?
Well that is what I'm going to tell you.
We are a part of a division of the G.R.U called the anomaly department. We study, and eliminate hostile or very dangerous temporal anomalies. We also develop teleportation technology but the tech is basically a barely functioning prototype that uses up so many energy that we typically need to drain 4 nuclear reactors or more to fire one up and teleport 500 people, 60 vehicles, etc they are so costly to use that we rarely use them, and need specialized equipment to use said prototype. These temporal anomalies are typically made from what's known as the god particles. They are basically particles that can bend reality itself or what the extremely dummies call magicules or magical particles because they seem magical to their eyes. We typically use those particles to create holes through space and time. We discovered our first anomaly back in the times when the USSR was still in its glory. In 1974. These anomalies typically bring with them destructive beings with them so we clean them up by killing them by either small arms fire, usage of military vehicles, missiles or even if it comes to it nukes, and burning their corpses. if we don't they usually turn into undead creatures that is very very hard to kill unless you have a tank, a flame thrower, or if you have liquid hydrogen to freeze these things up just to punch them and crumble into ice.
The first ones happened in Sarov or arzamas-16 one of the hidden cities in the USSR created by the KGB. The creatures that appeared on the first temporal anomaly were hulking abominations of green creatures filled with unknown viruses and diseases. We defeated them and later got an outbreak of one of the diseases, and later found a cure to the disease. Thus our predecessors the komitet vremennykh anomaliy or the committee of temporal anomalies created by the secretary general of the committee of state security with funding from the state to combat these threats. One day our unlucky asses got dragged into this assignment to investigate a temporal anomalies, and be one of the first to enter the temporal anomalies. We were greenlighted to do this mission due to our new naive, and unknowing overseers or as we call them the overseer council because they are a council of a few people dictating the fate of the motherland. And we followed those orders. And eventually got stuck in this hell hole inside some cave in the middle of who knows where. We were called detachment Alpha 3. The loyalists. We were the most loyal detachments of the overseers and we're trusted to keep the researchers safe. We didn't even thought that this would ever happen. We were naive to accept this.
Anyways we checked if everybody was okay. Some of the onsite medics and doctors who were with us in this expedition checked every one from diseases and found none.
We packed ourselves up and told everyone to ride in the transport vehicles to find a new place to build a temporary forward operating base.
Engines roared to life as the vehicles started.

Hello, my partner and I recently had the urge to buy a turntable. We didn't really know what we were doing so we ended up getting a Victrola Brighton from our local department store. Figured it was cheap and could get us started. We now find ourselves collecting vinyl, but I'm scared to play a lot of them because I don't want this tt to scratch or ruin them. We're looking to upgrade, but I'm not sure what to. The obvious choice seems to be the AT-lp60 , but I've also been searching on FB marketplace and there seems to be lots of other options in our price range. A Sony PS-T2, Denon Dp-45f, Onkyo CP-1007A, Technics SL-OD2, etc. There are so many options and I'm just not sure if I'm better off with a brand new one, or a used one.

I am the assistant manager of my department, so I go through chain of command to the manager of my department as my direct supervisor, and his direct supervisor is the GM of our work.
Our GM is an incredibly sarcastic man, and the tone he set is one where joking around and sarcasm, so long as your job is being done above par, is accepted and encouraged. I was even informed by my direct supervisor upon hiring about how sarcastic our GM is and to know what unless I messed up he was always “fucking with me” and I should not take it to heart.
For context: I get cystic acne around my thyroid. It’s an issue I’m embarrassed by as I often have dry skin around the area as I use pimple patches to reduce them. My GM has, on more than one occasion, made teasing jokes about the marks being hickeys. He has always done so publicly and with a teasing tone and whenever I inform him that they are acne scars he pretends to not believe me.
Yesterday I was working at my desk and he came up to me and started teasing me about the mark on my neck being a hickey. I told him firmly that it was not and a cystic acne scar. He kept pushing in a teasing tone “oh are you sureeeee? Don’t you think you’re a little too old for stuff like that? How did that happen?”
I tried to give him an out by saying “GM, you’ve made this joke with me multiple times before you know they are acne scars” he continues his teasing. I say to him “GM, you are my employer” and he says “so what? You’re the one showing up to work with hickeys” so I said “Do you want me to call HR?”
He started laughing and went back to his desk asking “why? Why would you go to HR? Huh? Why would you go to HR??”
When I got home from work, I called our third-party HR hotline To report the situation to them. The reason it’s a mildly sensitive situation is that my GM has already been sued for this problem. He has multiple proven allegations of sexual harassment against him. My store’s HR exists solely to protect his employment and protect the company.
When they asked me if I had anything else to report, I mentioned that my GM gave me permission to break certain company rules so long as I did not tell anybody. I informed them that at the time it was very suspicious to me that he said that, and it made me believe that the interaction him and I had was him attempting to gauge my reaction of his inappropriate behavior. They told me the HR for my store would follow up within 24 hours. She has not. This is my major concern.
I am worried my stores HR woman is going to attempt to take the responsibility off of my GM and put it on me. My general manager has been sued for harassment by employees more than once. My job was reported by a customer because they found out that same GM had made transphobic comments about them, and the GM was given a week paid leave as “punishment”. I’m not sure why, but the company wants to protect him.
I feel like because I have jokes with my GM about other subjects (never anything sexual or about bodies or coworkers or anything like that) and they will use that as justification. Additionally I am worried they will take the angle of my boss was attempting to communicate that hickeys are not appropriate in the workplace. However, he has never formally addressed the issue, only made fun of me, or teased me. I live in an At Will employment state, and based on how my supervisor and GM treated me today, I think they are planning on firing me for this, but making up a reason to not have any legal repercussions.
Any advice on how to handle things further? I have never had to meet with HR in my life and I’m a little worried I’m going to get put on defense in this situation.

My wife and I will be moving to ABQ sometime in a little bit, and we’re pretty excited about it! This sub has been super helpful in letting me read a ton about some cool things to see and do in the city, the many varied opinions on food around Albuquerque, ideas on neighborhoods and places to live, and so on! We’re pretty settled on where we’ll be, what we’ll be doing, and on other things of a more mundane nature, so I thought I might ask a few ^(probably) less-commonly asked questions about the area in preparation for our move. I apologize in advance that it’s a bit of an eclectic mix of questions!

First, I want to ask about volunteer opportunities around the area. I recently had an experience mentoring someone who was struggling to finish high school, and it was gratifying to support that person and see the pride they took in graduating and finishing HS strong. I’d love to know if there are any organizations around ABQ that specifically focus on mentoring, but my wife and I would also love to know what other volunteer opportunities exist around ABQ!

Second, are there any local credit unions people might recommend? We’d love to bank locally! I’ll also begin flight training soon after moving, and while I don’t anticipate the need to take out a loan to accomplish my goals there, it’s also nice to see what sorts of options are available!

Third, my wife has some food allergies that make finding her some nice treats a little difficult sometimes. Are there any dessert places that have some gluten- and dairy-free options that people enjoy? We’ve had some luck with certain ice cream joints and even some bakeries in the past, but I know how hard they can be to find at times! I think it'd just be great to surprise her with some places she can go to!

Hey Reddit, not the worst problem in the world, but I'm in a pickle. Last January I started the hiring process for the department of my hometown. I am finally near the end of all the interviews and investigations and the academy will begin in September. However, I am relocating to a new city in the state over. They started recruitment today, but wouldn't begin the academy until next January. I would prefer this position, but will not know if I will be offered a position for several months after this other department. Will it bite me in the ass to work in one place for 5 months and then leave for a department that is much closer?
