2023.06.03 20:21 OnderGok Odyssey G8 or AW3423DW with NVIDIA GPU?

Hello! Ultrawide newbie here. I recently finished my RTX 4090 build and am yet to purchase a monitor.
This would be my first ultrawide monitor, and as of right now, I cannot decide between the two. They have very similar specs, but there are a few minor differences that keep me undecided.

I am tending towards the G8 because of its better looking design, but I would love to hear you guys' takes

SONUNDA STEAM DECK ALIYORUM! Buradaki kullanıcılarından tavsiyeler varsa duymak isterim. :)
Aylardır Steam Deck planlaması yapıyordum, sonunda karar verdim ve bütçem doğrultusunda 64 GB Steam Deck'i Kegagames üzerinden alma kararı aldım.

2023.06.03 17:09 schizoalt Does anyone know if/when the Hisense M1 will be released in the US?

The M1 was previewed at CES this year and seems to be Hisense's answer to the Samsung Frame. I've been wanting all of the features of the Frame TV but haven't made the purchase because I'm not a Samsung fan after seeing so many problems with them, both from friends & family and reviews on the internet.
Unfortunately, there's little information available on this model, probably because this was designated for the international market. I'm hoping people here will be able to give me even just a pinch more info, no did bit is too small lol. I'm willing to wait another year if someone can let me know the likelihood that this type of model will be released in the western market anytime soon.

2023.06.03 15:55 No_Consideration7318 Wifi calling "menu not currently available" after switching to AT&T

Hello. I am getting the message "menu not currently avaialable" when trying to access the wifi calling menu on my Galaxy s23 ultra. This is a business account on the premium elite plan.
I found this post stating I may need to call them to have it turned on https://forums.att.com/conversations/samsung/wifi-calling-wont-turn-on-error-message/61e1f5a2f2fc3909db9c55b0 .
The post states that VoLTE & wifi calling are enabled at the same time. My question is, do I want to enable those? Will the qulity degrade vs the way it is now?
One of the issues I have experienced in the past with AT&T is call quality issues. To the point where reps would keep asking me to speak up and saying they could not hear me. Is it possible these features are off by default due to quality issues?
Edit - called and spoke to support. They tried getting me through to advanced tech support. There was about 30 minutes of hold music with the rep picking up occasionally to let me know she is still trying to get the technician. Then the hold music went away and it was complete silence for another 30 minutes. I guess someone doesn't want to work today LOL can't blame them. I'll try again Monday.

2023.06.03 15:01 TallenAtear 2x2.5gb Networks Cards to 4x1gb Synology over SMB Multichannel 460+mb/sec

I have seen various posts and some confusing comments, so I wanted to write up my own experience with SMB Multichannel.
See setup image;
https://postimg.cc/ts8XX51P
I went from my old 1gb switch copy speed of 116mb/sec, to now 300-460mb/sec by upgrading my switch and adding another 2.5gb network card/connection.
This is a way less expensive route than adding a 10gb network card in both the pc and Synology and using a 10gb switch. Right now 2.5gb is pretty cheap for network cards (USBC-2.5gb is under $40, 2.5gb RJ45 PCI cards are under $30, 2.5gb switches $125, or 2.5gb with a 10gb uplink under $160.) I did purchase a 10gb card but it’s only running at 2.5gb for now. (Canadian Price Samples)
Depending on your Array and Type, and the number of disks used will affect the max transfer speed. This is tested with 5 x 12tb IronWolf drives, 1 x 16tb IronWolf Pro in a SHR1 volume, with 2 x Samsung M2 R / W Cache in a DS1821+
This requires no re-cabling costs at all of your existing 1gb RJ45 network. 10gb would require new cabling in most cases further increasing the cost of a 10gb upgrade.
Crystal Disk Mark v8, using 4gb test, shows; 401mb/sec read, and 462mb/sec write (assuming the write cache is helping here)
Anyhow happy with the results of my 2.5gb upgrade at a really reasonable price vs going the 10gb, much more expensive route.
This was all done using DSM 7.2, with no real setting changes or geek stuff on the computer end using Windows 11. On the Synology End, check that;
Control Panel / File Services / SMB / Advanced Settings / Others
- Enable SMB3 Multichannel (Checked)
Control Panel / Network / Network Interfaces
- All four network interfaces showing connected separately - not bonded
The Switch I purchased is NICGIGA 9 Port 2.5gb with 1 Port SPF+ 10gb, fanless and does not get too warm; it’s identical hardware / same pcb board if taken apart and sold in over three flavors; SODOLA, NICGIGA, MOKERLINK, etc)
Great Video about the 2.5gb switches;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgLU-HT1E64
Hope this helps someone else that was wondering if the jump to 2.5gb is worth the effort.

2023.06.03 14:06 Murkenary Upgrade from a Motorola G7 Plus to ???

Hello everyone,
I've been researching and reading reviews but can't find a proper clear answer as to what I can upgrade to.
I mainly looked to stick with Motorola, because of the following reasons:
- Button control within locked screen (I've seen some devices that won't allow you to volume control before you swipe/log
- Clean Android OS. I've seen many systems with extras to bloatware and I'm not a big fan
- Dual simcard. I have a personal simcard and one from work. It's easy to switch one off.
- Memory card (without sacrificing a sim slot). I've noticed this is becoming increasingly rare, but I'm willing to foreit it, as long as the main onboard storage is enough.
I've heard good things about Nokia and Samsung. I've been doubting to get an Galaxy A52S or the cheaper Motorola G72 so far. The Galaxy is what my girlfriend uses and she is very happy with it and the battery seems to do good (we use it often for Pokémon go on our walks and to navigate when we're on vacation).
They seem to have what I'd like and are within price range, but any user experience (both good and bad) would help me get an insight.
Anyone who can share their experiences?

2023.06.03 12:54 leonidas111 Long Thesis - Redington India

Redington is an IT hardware distributor with operations across India, Middle East, Turkey and Africa. It has very low debt, grown FCF at 20% p.a for last 10 years and is currently trading at 6.5% FCF yield. They distribute laptops, PCs, mobiles, networking, datacenter hardware and tablets from all major brands (Samsung, Apple, Lenovo etc.) to both enterprises, re-sellers. This is a hard-to-enter business, mainly because: 1/ Building and maintaining relationships with marquee brands require trust, consistent performance & time. 2/ Running a distribution business at scale requires an efficient supply-chain and strong execution (which is much harder than it sounds).
Redington has consistently invested in improving their supply-chain through automated distribution centres, warehouse mgmt systems (which is significantly hard to set up and run, especially with a high-attrition labour force), & maintain working capital management. As a result, they have consistently high & improving ROCE (India biz. is 50%+ in 2022 vs ~20% in 2013). Historically the management has deployed capital intelligently by entering the upcoming segments starting from laptops, mobiles, smart phones & now cloud.
Redington is expanding their runway for growth by entering into high-margin managed-services business (for cloud, cyber security) focussing mainly in SMBs market in India. Their aim is to sell managed services in cloud to small & medium businesses, a segment overlooked by India’s IT majors.

2023.06.03 08:04 maxwell321 Switching from iPhone 11 Pro to Pixel 7 - 1 Month in

Hey guys! This week marks me having my current Pixel 7 for one month! Here's a kinda in-depth review of my experience so far.
Why I wanted to switch to android:
I am a computer science major about to graduate this year and am an active programmer. I want to have full control over my device and IOS makes that kind of hard without jailbreaking. My big issue with Apple is that they restrict you to pretty much only their ecosystem. I do have a MacBook and am soon to own a M2 Mac Mini, but my main machine is a desktop computer running Linux. I wanted to integrate my phone with it in as many ways as possible but I just was straight up unable to. I have a nextcloud server with 16TB of storage which I wanted to utilize and replace iCloud with, but since IOS didn't allow background syncing it wasn't really worth it. I also was just kinda wanting a change from something other than the same old - same old on IOS. Android gives me SOOO much more freedom.
Why I chose Pixel 7:
I have to hand it to Samsung, as I believe that their hardware is the best on all their phones. I also like OneUI, I managed to get an old Samsung A50 from 2019 for $20 which I used as a test phone to help me get used to Android and test it out before I committed. I did enjoy it! Though the camera was damaged and the battery was pretty much shot. I did first hand experience how much bloatware and just straight up crap that comes pre installed on a Samsung device, which I'm not a fan of. The Pixel lineup is pretty much the cleanest Android experience out there as far as I know. A big selling point to me as well is the Pixel's software exclusives. I recently watched Google's IO event and am really excited for upcoming features like magic editor. One last big factor that made me choose it is the fact that I got mine for $350! I didn't have to trade in my old phone either. I found that to be an amazing deal for a phone that was an upgrade compared to my iPhone which had a camera comparable to current flagships.
How did I break away from Apple's Ecosystem?:
It was fairly painless actually. I managed to request and receive all of my iCloud data from Apple and transfer it to google photos (I'm rebuilding my nextcloud server currently which will have 30TB!) I love google photos' UI. My airpods still work with Bluetooth on my Pixel, google photos and drive works seamlessly when sharing to my Mac (and now my PC!!). Unfortunately though I still keep my old phone on and plugged in or in my backpack for my Apple Watch and Air Tags, though I am looking at alternatives. I don't see Google Messages as a downgrade from iMessage at all! Even texting with iPhones it's been great. I can have my texts open on my Laptop or PC with Google Message's web app, and photo sharing is lossless since it uses Google photos links. If I'm receiving photos or videos though I usually have them send it to me through Snapchat (hopefully apple adopts RCS soon though!). Also I haven't missed FaceTime either since Snapchat has video calling, but I also use Google Meet/Duos with my girlfriend whos on iPhone. I haven't missed Apple's ecosystem or software suite.
Social Media differences in IOS vs Android:
I forgot to mention, but I also chose the Pixel 7 because Snapchat has optimized their app a little bit for it. I was expecting a lot worse quality snaps, but I was VERY surprised. The pictures are a little bit soft, but I think I only notice that because I'm big into video and graphical editing and have an eye for that stuff. If you turn on the night mode setting on Snapchat, it actually brings the up sharpness and contrast levels to what iPhones typically have it at. It makes it INDISTINGUISHABLE from iPhone which I'm very surprised with. I did realize the zoom speed is a little bit slower than iPhone which is pretty much instant. I genuinely believe that iPhones only do digital zoom on Snapchat though while Pixel actually uses the lens correctly. I always believed this as it made the most sense to me (who has a huge technology background) but what set that in stone for me was when I actually managed to glitch out Snapchat on my Pixel earlier today and got it to zoom with night mode on. It was completely digital zoom and it was INSTANT, I spent like 10 seconds just sitting there zooming in and out rapidly, taken back when my Pixel started acting like an iPhone then and there lol. I've never seen a Snapchat experience as good as that on Android in my life outside of those couple of seconds when it glitched. Instagram is exactly the same, but now with the ability to comment GIFs lol.
The upgrades:
90hz OLED screen. WOW this makes the phone feel SUPER snappy, as opposed to my iPhone 11 which now just feels sluggish now that I've been used to my Pixel 7.
The camera. It is pretty good in my opinion! Videos turn out great, and I'm a huge fan of the colors and HDR. The extra editing tools are great as well to help fine tune it with ease! I believe that it's comparable to S23 and iPhone 14 base models. I managed to use OpenCam to get some great manual shots, and even got some 1080p120 footage just for fun. I wish google had these manual features built in to the main camera app though.
The fingerprint sensor. I LOVE having it back and would take it over FaceID any day. I don't know what people are complaining about, it's been 100% consistent for me and very snappy. I think a common misconception for the speed of the scan could be just that the animation speed for opening the phone seems to be slower than flagship Samsung devices. Literally if I just tap my screen with my thumb it's open.
I've also noticed that a few apps with in app purchases are a little bit cheaper on Android. I believe this could be because Apple takes a certain percentage out of every transaction an application processes and companies try to make up for that on their IOS version of their apps. An example of this is Door dash.
The battery seems to be a little longer, though my iPhone charged a little bit faster. I do love having USB C, and the battery seems to have been improving a little every day over time, so maybe it's the adaptive AI battery saver or something? I'm not sure. 5G seems to drain it faster, I don't know if it's a Pixel issue or not since my iPhone 11 didn't have 5G capability. I just shut off 5G for now since I really don't need it.
The downgrades:
The face unlock is OKAY. I did notice it's faster than my iPhone 11, but I don't necessarily trust the security since there's no infrared and it's just camera only.
The speaker quality isn't as good as my iPhone 11. I don't think the typical user would notice, but I do a lot of musical work and editing to hear it on the spot. They are tinny (though this could be better on the Pixel 7 Pro). Adaptive sound helps though. Call quality sounds good though!
Issues:
None yet. No overheating, call drops, wifi drops, fingerprint issues, nothing.
It's been a great switch, and I think Android (specifically on Google's devices) is gonna be my new home!

This is on an Galaxy A13 5G, bought directly from CC. I see that the device has a Visual Voicemail application. However I cannot get it to activate or work properly. It just attempts to set up indefinitely, then asks you to call Voicemail and hang up. Still does not activate. Is there a way to get visual voicemail on Consumer Cellular? Is the Samsung Galaxy A13 supported? As of now I have to dial my Voicemail box to access Voicemail, and that is set up and does work properly. On a side related note, is the requirement for the Voicemail pin to be 7 digits in length new?

2023.06.03 03:19 notsobusy2 Suggestions please for a decent new android phone with SD card support that can do file storage with at least android 11?

Before answering, please spare me all the workarounds with plugging my phone in to my laptop, yadda yadda yadda. I aim not be included in the enclosures being created by the makers of these devices .
Please limit replies to anybody who has a good experience with a phone supporting SD card on >= Android 11. My Nokia 7.2 (which sucks epically vs my 6.1) most assuredly has never worked with my SD card, and now doesn't do street navigation (or off-grid navigation) any better than my treo 650 did. So I need a replacement. This is definitely just a tool for work. Don't watch movies on my phone, I use it as a portable WAP for my work, storage of files I don't want on the cloud anywhere (clients with confidentiality agreements). The camera is almost never used for anything other than pictures of serial numbers, computer gear, documents, cheques, etc. (and the occasional picture of our dogs, or a sunset/sunrise, when nobody else has a camera).
Thanks in advance!

Can't decide what to buy Google Pixel 7 pro 128gb or Samsung Galaxy S23 256gb? Most important feature in a phone for me is camera so I really like pixels camera but hate hate curved displays (broke my Xiaomi mi note 10 2 times). Samsung has smaller display with smaller egdes and is smaller phone overall also has faster charging and better chip but hate camera captures because is to colorful and irealistic. Any suggestions?

2023.06.02 23:13 masedira Oppo 5G CPE t1a vs using old Samsung S20+ phone for home internet

Hi,
I am planning to use 5G mobile data for my home internet as i got a very good offer.
I have an old Samsung phone s20 that supports 5G.
My question is: -Would it be stable enough to use that phone as a 5G modem and extend the wifi of the hotspot using another wifi router to cover my apartment
Or
Am I better off buying a dedicated 5G router like oppo 4G CPE t1a?
Obviously just buying a wifi router to use with my old phone would be cheaper than the 5g router, but I am worried about instability since I am working online from home and attend many online zooms
And advice specially from experience would be appreciated.
Thanks

2023.06.02 22:38 Practical_Toe_8448 My 1650 is dying on me. What should be my next GPU?

The 1650 does everything I need it to, but unfortunately, it's been having issues. Randomly while playing games, both my monitors will suddenly turn black and I'll have to manually turn the computer off and back on. If I'm going to upgrade, I'd like to be able to run modern games on medium/high settings and 1080p at a consistent 60FPS. The most intensive game I play is Total War: Warhammer 3 which I currently run on medium graphics and large unit scale. It starts chugging a bit on really large battles, but for the most part, it's totally playable. My current build is as follows:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
RAM: 16 GB (4x4) DDR-4 3000
SSD: Samsung 870 Evo 1TB
Mobo: ASRock Fatality B450 K4
PSU: 700W

Ideally, I wanna spend around $400 for a GPU. I've heard bad things about the 4060 TI, but looking at the benchmarks it's still a huge upgrade from my current GPU and looks like it'll do everything I need it to. Are there better options at the same price range? The 6700XT has more VRAM but userbenchmark shows the 4060 TI massively outperforming it (https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-4060-Ti-vs-AMD-RX-6700-XT/4149vs4109). Any suggestions would be appreciated!
