2023.04.07 23:42 Bryanb337 Stat Compilation on 5 Star Matches
I was bored so I decided to compile some stats in regards to Meltzer's star ratings particularly 5+ star matches. I will not provide any commentary about the stats. I think they'll speak for themselves.
Since Meltzer started ratings in 1982 he has awarded 5 or more stars to a total of 224 matches.
For the first 30 years of Meltzer rating matches, 1982-2012, he awarded 5 or more stars to only 99 matches. 44.2% of all 5+ star matches.
Since 2013, he has awarded 5 stars or more to 125 matches in just a little over 10 years. 55.8% of all 5+ star matches.
Since May 25, 2019, the date of AEW's first PPV, he has awarded 5 or more stars to 78 matches. 34.8% of all 5+ star matches.
NJPW in 30+ years of having matches rated has had 5 or more stars awarded to 82 matches, the most of any promotion. 36.6% of all 5+ star matches.
AJPW in 30+ years of having matches rated has had 5 or more stars awarded to 35 matches, the 2nd most of any promotion. 15.6% of all 5+ star matches.
AEW in only just under 4 years of existence and having matches rated has had 5 or more stars awarded to 20 matches, 3rd most of any promotion. 8.9% of all 5+ star matches.
WWE in 30+ years of having matches rated has had 5 or more stars awarded to 18 matches, 5th most of any promotion (All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling is 4th with 19). 8% of all 5+ star matches.
Will Ospreay & Mitsuharu Misawa both have had 5 or more stars awarded to 25 matches they were involved in, the most of any wrestlers. 11.2% of all 5+ star matches. Since none of the 5+ star matches featured both Ospreay & Misawa, that means 22.3% of all 5+ star matches featured either Ospreay or Misawa.
Will Ospreay (25 tied for most) & Kenny Omega (22 third most) are the only two non Japanese wrestlers in the top 10 wrestlers involved in the most 5+ star mstches.
Ric Flair having been involved in 12 matches awarded 5 stars is the only wrestler in the top 20 to have those matches outside of Japan, Mexico, or AEW/ROH/indies.
An incomplete list of wrestlers who have never been involved in a 5+ star match as a singles competitor: Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero (has been in a 5 star tag match in AAA), Jake Roberts, Curt Hennig, Dean Malenko, Randy Savage.
The first match to ever receive above a 5 star rating was a match at an NWA house show between Ric Flair & Ricky Steamboat. Meltzer was in attendance and rated the match 6 stars. This rating is technically unofficial as the rating system is only used for PPV/TV matches. The first official match to receive a rating of more than 5 stars was Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada on January 4th, 2017. There have been 39 matches officially awarded higher than 5 stars. The 39 highest rated matches of all time have taken place in the last 6 years and 3 months.
28 of the 39 highest rated matches of all time took place in NJPW. 6 have taken place in AEW. 4 have taken place in WWE, all under either the NXT or NXT UK brand.
Finally, the parking lot brawl between Santana & Ortiz vs the Best Friends and the Anarchy in the Arena match between the JAS and BCC, Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz are both matches that received a rating of 5 stars. Those two matches are rated equally to the FlaiSteamboat trilogy & Austin vs Bret at WM13 among others. Those two matches are rated higher than Savage vs Steamboat at WM 3 (4.5 stars) & Bret Hart vs Mr. Perfect (4 stars) to name a couple.
What are your thoughts on these stats?

2023.03.23 17:37 hayden0920 Is this price fair or is it not?
So I was putting stuff in My Shop on AJPW, and I came across a Vintage Kitchen Table. Honestly I forgot I had that, and I didn't know the worth. So today I went on the Sapphire Worth Wiki, and found out I had the Highest worth one (Tan). It's said it was worth 22,000-23,000 but I thought that was really high. Anyone know the actual worth of this in sapphires? I know sapphire worth wiki can be a bit over or under priced. I have a picture of the table. Also if u are willing to buy just LMK! User Is same here:)

2023.03.15 06:07 Plastic_Advice_331 Trying to trade my solid yellow starlight wings is driving me crazy! (Vent? Is that ok?)
(So sorry if this comes off as slightly passive aggressive I’m kind of annoyed at this point NOT DIRECTED TOWARDS ANYONE IN PARTICULAR. JUST WHAT IVE NOTICED IN AND OUT OF GAME :) ) people on here said its worth 4 forests (I believe that) but literally everyone in and out of game (Example ajpw item worth wiki) offers 2 forests worth items or under. Makes me believe the wings are unwanted but then I have people coming up to me in game telling me they’re a solid and worth black tip raccoon or slightly less. I tell them I’m lucky if I’m offered 3 worth. (They thought I was joking lol) it’s driving me crazy I feel I should try to trade them before all are found so I don’t have to worry about the worth dropping even more after all are found. Been trying for days and I’m either asking for to much or I’m expected to accept under for my item I have yet to see an in between -_-(*_*)-_-

So I haven't played AJPW in a bit. I've had someone tell me that my black and white cuffs are low cuffs, worth 8k saps and offered me nothing like the AJPW worth wiki said it went for. Just wondering if the worth changed, or maybe the worth wiki just isn't reliable??

2022.08.30 04:14 Ordinary_Dish_2 What are spikes worth?
I'm new to AJPW's worth system and I've got several sapphire spiked wrists--most of which are black--and several spiked collars. I've been trying to sell them in my shop for 100 (wrists) and 500 (collars), as that's what the wiki had said they're worth. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to sell any and some people have said my shop is overpriced. So can anyone tell me what the worth of these spikes are in sapphires?

2022.07.16 13:11 LeloucheOTR General subreddit rules and posting guide, July 2022.
General subreddit rules and posting guide.
This post will serve as a guideline to what you can post on this subreddit,
stardomjoshi. Our goal is to curate and grow an open and inclusive community that is laid back and welcoming to all kinds of JoshiPro fans. Hopefully, we can cover all bases in this post, but if you have any questions, please feel free to comment. We'll address any questions as soon as we can.
Reddit Content Policy.
Please read this if you post often. All these rules are implicit and all posts that break any of them will be removed. Repeated infractions may incur a ban. Reddiquette.
Not a set of rules as such, but an informal collection of values for Reddit at large. Subject matter
Anything involved within the sphere of JoshiPro, whether now or in the past, is acceptable. Newbie questions are encouraged. We have many regulars who will probably be able to answer any questions, no matter the company or era. Disagreements are fine as long as discussions are kept civil. Spam, harassment and abusive or hateful comments directed toward users or Joshi will be deleted. Problem posters may be banned. As a general rule, we prefer that the tone of the subreddit be PG-13 or tamer.
Whilst it's natural for discussion to bleed into happenings in other non-Joshi companies (WWE, AEW, NJPW, DDT, AJPW etc) full-on discussion of these companies is not allowed. There are plenty of other places to discuss what happens in those companies. We are all here for Joshi, so it's preferable that all discourse remains on topic.
"Can I post (insert content type here)?"
Social Media content - Yes. All text, photos, or videos posted by Joshi companies, wrestlers, or other related media officially through their social media are welcome.
Spoilers - Use Spoiler Tags until at least 24 hours after the event.
- Take care not to articulate a spoiler in your post Title.
- Spoiler material includes match results, announcements, storyline developments or returns.
Gifs and video clips Gifs and video clips are allowed, providing these rules are met:
- No gifs or videos of finishes, even with a spoiler tag.
- Gifs or videos should not exceed 60 seconds (approximately).
- No series of videos from the same match or segment.
- Ripping a video from an official video source and reuploading it onto your post is not allowed. Just link to the official video, with a timestamp if possible.
Image Posts - These are fine, but if the images are not your work, please provide a source link. Sources aren't required for event posters, match graphics or screenshots.
Non-Wrestling content - Non-wrestling related media of Joshi wrestlers are allowed as long as they aren't available on any streaming service or PPV. However, again, excessive length may lead to removal. For example, if a Joshi appears on a talk show, and it isn't widely available you can post it here.
Warning: We are not responsible for how Joshi companies or Japanese media copyright holders police their copyrights. Some may have heard stories of how ferociously Japanese television companies police their content.
Self-promotion If you read the "Reddiquette" link above, you would have seen that
self-promotion is considered very poor form. I'll roughly go through the guidelines here.
- Coming into the subreddit cold and self-promoting your content is unacceptable, and your post will be removed. Continued spamming of your content may lead to a ban.
- On the other hand, if you are a regular poster, a small amount of self-promotion is ok.
- The generally accepted ratio of submissions is one out of every ten submissions can self-promote. u/Trentus86, you are fine.
Piracy - If you read the Reddit Content Policy, you'll know that this is forbidden. To back this up we have a zero-tolerance approach toward such submissions, no matter how easy or difficult it is to buy the original material. If you ask for links to pirated content or post them, the posts will be removed and the user warned.
- But realistically, we understand when certain Joshi matches or events are discussed, people are going to want to see them. We urge you all to make your own searches rather than ask for help here. Google is your friend.
- That said, we all love Joshi and the best way to help it thrive is to buy their content if you can. It really makes a difference, especially to the smaller companies.
Sexy photo shoots/Gravure Content - In an effort to keep this subreddit as wrestling-focused and inclusive as possible, any posts of this kind are not allowed. Repeated posts may incur a ban.
- On a related note: any posts, even text posts, of a graphic sexual nature will be deleted and the user possibly banned.
- Also, it isn't uncommon for some Joshi companies to engage in what we will politely label as WWE Diva era storylines. We accept that these are part of the Joshi zeitgeist and tasteful discussion of these plots is allowed, however videos and photos showing whatever incidents may be occurring will be removed.
Everything else - Everything else will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. A good rule to follow is that if it doesn't cost the Joshi Companies money and is not "problematic" it should be ok.
Wrestling Media - Western wrestling media reporting and opinions on Joshi-related matters are usually comical at best often based heavily on rumor and hearsay. Therefore, posting it here is generally frowned upon.
- When speaking on reports and opinions given from these sources, a summary of the content is allowed and the source article from which the content came, however direct linking to articles is not allowed. Posting Mr. Cornette's opinions on Joshi wrestling especially will be met with extreme prejudice.
- Articles from Japanese wrestling news media however are permitted, these include sources such as Shukan (Weekly) Pro-Wrestling, Tokyo Sports, Nikkan Sporta and Puroresu TODAY.
Reporting - Whilst every effort is made to read each submission and comment (Mods need to sleep) and even though we have an extensive Automod in place, some troublesome content still gets through the cracks. In that situation, we rely on you guys to report anything that shouldn't be here. By doing so, you help us enormously.
- That said, please don't abuse this function just because a post annoys you or two new users post similar questions within a short timeframe.
- Also, whilst we are talking about the Automod, if anyone gets caught by it, please message the Mods, and we will review the post and if we find the automod to be in error, we'll manually approve your submission.
Finally, I'd like to state that this subreddit, considering its high traffic volume (around 500k pageviews a month), is very respectful and well-behaved. Everyone that passes through should be pretty proud of themselves and here's to it continuing that way.
For everyone who has managed to read all the way down here,
THANKS! submitted by

2022.05.16 11:29 chaosof99 The Beginner's Guide to the Best of the Super Juniors 29
This year's Best of the Super Juniors tournament has returned to its regular slot in NJPW's calendar in late spring. As Japan is slowly lowering regulations from the pandemic additionally, a number of foreign talent has made the trip to participate, making this year one of the most exciting in a while.
New Japan Pro Wrestling NJPW is the biggest wrestling promotion in Japan. It presents wrestling as a sport with little bombast or drama elements that some western promotions rely on. While there are interesting characters, their primary goal is still to win a championship, and to provide for this the promotion holds multiple tournaments a year to facilitate opportunities for them to prove themselves. Those tournaments not just promise opportunity to its winner, but since the champions also participate beating them in the tournament can also garner you a title shot.
NJPW is separated into two weight classes, with the BOSJ tournament being for the Junior division for wrestlers up to 100kg (220 pounds). While NJPW is more well known for its great heavyweight division, the juniors are also chock full of talent that deserves your attention, and this year the tournament includes a number of high caliber wrestlers from other promotions that could result in title challenges beyond NJPW itself.
Best of the Super Juniors Like its brother in the heavyweight division, the G1 Climax, the BOSJ tournament is regarded one of the most prestigious tournaments in its weight class due to the difficulty of winning it. A number of wrestlers are separated into two blocks. Within each block a round-robin sequence of matches is held with, each wrestler fighting each other wrestler once. With 10 wrestlers per group that means 9 matches over the course of a couple of weeks.
The winner of each match receives two points while the loser receives none. In case of a time limit draw after 30 minutes, both participants receive one point each. At the end of the group matches, the two wrestlers with the most points in each Block face each other in the tournament final.
Most tournament days begins with a number of tag matches on the undercard that tease the next tournament day, while the main course are five singles matches within a block. This year however there are also several days where both blocks fight singles matches on the same day. For the full schedule, see
here.
The final day will have a number of undercard tag matches with participants from both blocks, while the main event will be the tournament final between the group winners.
Participants As travel restrictions have been largely lifted, in addition to the core of NJPW's junior division, the tournament will this year have a large number of guests from outside the promotion.
Block A consists of:
- Taiji Ishimori, current IWPG Junior Heavyweight champion in his third reign after beating El Desperado just a couple weeks ago. Ishimori does not lack power, but is primarily focused on working over his opponent until he can submit them. Before switching to NJPW and joining Bullet Club, he was a longtime ace of the junior division in rival promotion Pro Wrestling Noah. The Bone Soldier has never won BOSJ, but was a finalist in 2018. He is also a three-time IWGP Junior tag team champion with partner El Phantasmo.
- Hiromu Takahashi is considered the top star of NJPW's junior division having won BOSJ the past two years and three times in the past four years. With three wins he is tied with Koji Kanemoto for the record. A member of Los Ingobernables de Japon, his reckless style has also resulted in four championship reigns, but in recent years he also had bad luck with injuries, including a broken neck that held him out of the tournament in 2019.
- YOH had great success with his tag partner SHO as Roppongi 3K, winning the junior tag titles five times and the Super Jr. Tag League three times. However, injury issues and a messy breakup left him somewhat rudderless. After a slow start to last year's tournament in the fall of 2021, he managed to rally and earn a trip to the final, where after a valiant effort he fell to Hiromu. YOH remains a member of CHAOS under the leadership of Kazuchika Okada.
- SHO saw YOH as a burden and dissolved Ropongi 3K to join the EVIL and the Bullet Club sub-faction House of Torture. He brutalizes his opponents on the outside are engineers ref-bumps and distractions to do so inside the ring. A powerhouse wrestlers on his own right, you wonder if all the shortcuts are actually necessary.
- Ryusuke Taguchi is the wily veteran in Block A. Previously the 69th IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion and now the 69th IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champion with partner Master Wato, Taguchi is known for his less serious attack pattern. He promised to tone down the tomfoolery this year, but I am not sure he actually can. Regardless, he is someone to not take lightly as he can end things quickly with multiple finishers or a simple roll-up.
- Yoshinobu Kanemaru could be respected as he is well accomplished in the junior division, particularly in rival company Pro-Wrestling Noah. However, it is undeniable that the best days of the Heel Master are behind him. Nevertheless, you should be wary, lest you want whisky sprayed into your eyes or knocked over the head with the bottle itself.
- Francesco Akira is a disciple of Will Ospreay and the newest recruit to the United Empire after jumping ship form AJPW, where he was a one time Junior Heavyweight Champion and winner of their yearly round-robin junior tournament in 2021. At just 22, the italian is the youngest competitor in the field.
- Ace Austin is the current X Division champion in Impact wrestling in his third reign. The american is making his first foray into the japanese scene. A conniving heel, he is fond of using playing cards as foreign objects to make cuts to his opponents fingers, but otherwise wrestles an agile and fast-paced style.
- Alex Zayne plied his trade in WWE under the name Ari Sterling, but has recently set out to explore the rest of the wrestling world with his athletic style and high flying maneuvers.
- Clark Connors is a recent graduate of NJPW's Los Angeles dojo under the tutelage of Katsuyori Shibata. The Wild Rhino wrestles a heavy style with emphasis on power.
Block B consists of the following:
- El Desperado never wanted to be champion, but his long-running feud with Hiromu lead him to it all the same. His second reign as such however ended earlier this month at the hands of Taiji Ishimori. The masked member of Suzuki-gun employs a submission focused style. He has not won BOSJ but was a finalist in 2020.
- Robbie Eagles held the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship for 104 days last year, sandwiched by Desperado's two reigns. The Australian also held the junior tag belts with Tiger Mask until recently. His success in BOSJ has been limited so far, but that could change, as the Sniper of the Skies has already proven that his high-flying style can win big in this company.
- El Phantasmo lost his mask years ago, but retains his lucha libre inspired moniker. A member of Bullet Club, the canadian has been stymied in BOSJ, but has won the Super J-Cup in both 2019 and 2020, and won the junior tag titles multiple times with Taiji Ishimori as his partner.
- Master Wato currently holds IWGP Junior Tag Team championship gold with Ryusuke Taguchi. He wrestles a martial arts inspired style with a larger emphasis on striking offense.
- BUSHI is a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, but has since been eclipsed by his stable mate in LIJ, Hiromu Takahashi. While not a major threat, the man of a thousand masks is still someone that can steal several wins if you are not careful.
- DOUKI worked for more than a decade in the mexican scene before returning to his native japan in 2019. He and fellow Suzuki-gun member El Desperado share a distaste for "fakes" they believe to use lucha libre for their own gain without showing proper respect. Also watch out for the metal pipe he likes to carry to the ring.
- TJP won WWE's Cruiserweight Classic in 2016 becoming the inaugural Cruiserweight Champion. However, his career saw a few speed bumps since and he has returned to the indies and the american side of NJPW where he joined Will Ospreay's United Empire.
- Titán returns to BOSJ for a third time after previous appearances in 2013 and 2019. The luchador primarily wrestles for mexican partner promotion CMLL where he is the current CMLL World Welterweight Champion. His large scar on his chest was the result of a deathmatch.
- El Lindaman is another import to the tournament, as the muscle-bound man holds the G-Rex championship in upstart promotion Gleat, founded in 2020. Originally trained by the Dragon Gate dojo, he has travelled the world with Cima's #Stronghearts stable.
- Wheeler Yuta recently saw a big boost in his standing within All Elite Wrestling as he departed Best Friends to join Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson in the Blackpool Combat Club after high profile matches against the two. He also currently holds the ROH Pure Championship in Ring of Honor.
Where to watch and further information All tournament shows are broadcasted live on njpwworld.com, New Japan's streaming service. This year all shows will feature live, in-person english language commentary by Kevin Kelly, usually joined by Chris Charlton. VODs of each show should be available on the site within a couple of hours of their conclusion.
A subscription to
njpwworld.com costs 999¥ a month ($7.73, £6,30 or 7,43€ as of writing). The site bills strictly by month so you will have to pay for both May and June to get the full live experience. This will also give you access to the Dominion PPV in June, NJPW's second biggest show of the year and likely where the winner of the tournament will challenge Taiji Ishimori for the title. Forbidden Door, a PPV event co-promoted with AEW in Chicago in June, however is not expected to be available directly through the service for viewers outside of japan. Please also note that access is revoked immediately upon cancelling the subscription.
You can also visit the official english language site of the promotion at
njpw1972.com, and of course check out the promotions subreddit at
/njpw.

2022.03.19 08:25 moontrinket Could anyone explain AJPWs worth system?
Hello! I've played AJ (classic) for 10 years and have a pretty good amount of good items. I'm a senior in highschool, and I decided to try to get into rare collecting on AJPW, since I already have a lot of great items on AJ classic. I've been playing AJPW for about 5 yrs, on and off. I love the game, but I hate not knowing what items are worth what. In AJ classic, I know exactly where to start in order to work up to really good items.
If anyone could give me a list of some basic rares that I should start working for, or might already have, that would be helpful!! I just want to know the worth system, and which of my items are valuable. I tried the AJPW worth wiki, but it only shows certain items.
I slowed down on playing AJ about 2 yrs ago, but I've gotten on a lot recently to check in. It's just something I find fun and nostalgic as a pass time, and still love playing the game. I actually lost my rim headdress, 2 black longs, a red long, and a purple long during the time of the data branch on AJ classic. I'm slowly trying to work back up to them. It sucks, especially since I had my headdress for years. It's okay though! I'm glad to be getting back into trading :)

2022.02.16 04:29 Stew0n How has AJPW been lately?
I'm asking because I haven't really heard or seen anything about AJPW for like a year or two at least and I follow a lot of Puroresu related accounts and people online and still I barely here anything about modern All Japan, plus when I asked for some Puroresu and Joshi promotions to try out on this subreddit only 1 out of the 25 comments recommended All Japan and I think that was only because they upload a lot of their matches on YouTube for free. The only positive things I hear about All Japan nowadays is talking about 90s All Japan and apparently Francesco Akira is pretty good other then that everything else is kinda negative like a lot of their big stars like Suwama and Jake Lee getting injured and Covid also Tajiri is the new booker which I have heard mix things about it and when I went to the All Japan wiki (besides who are the current Champions) it hasn't been updated for like a year since Jun Akiyama left which was like 2020. I'm just curious because I remember seeing a lot of talk about modern All Japan a few years ago with how good it is but now nothing compared to other Puroresu and Joshi companies nowadays like NJPW, Noah, DDT, Stardom, Dragon Gate, TJPW and ChocoPro and just feels odd to me. Again just curious.

Much like last year when I wrote this - we’re still going through a global pandemic. This list features all the top wrestling promotions around the world including WWE, AEW, NJPW, Impact Wrestling and many more. All links are either from WWE Network, NJPW World, DDT Pro, Youtube or DailyMotion. If you believe a match is missing from this list, please comment or inbox me privately and I will add it to this list.
January February March April May June July August - A-Kid Vs Jordan Devlin – NXT UK 05/08/2021 – In one of the most underrated matches of 2021 – we have a 30-Minute Iron Man match between two of NXT UK’s stars. It’s crazy that the Josh Alexander and TJP match got so much hype around the same time however I thought this match blew it away. I also highly recommend the Shawn Michaels narrated promo for this match.
- Seth Rollins Vs Edge – Summerslam 2021 – 4 ¼*
- Roman Reigns Vs John Cena - Summerslam 2021 – 4 ¼* - In arguably the most hyped up WWE match of the year we saw the Face That Runs The Place, Mr Hollywood himself John Cena competing against the self-proclaimed Head of the Table Roman Reigns.
- Ilja Dragunov Vs WALTER – NXT Takeover: 36 - 5 ¼* - The rematch from the one of the best wrestling matches of 2022 was happening on the last NXT Takeover event before changing to NXT 2.0. Every time these two meet it’s a classic – would the Russian Dragunov finally redeem his lost against WALTER or will WALTER continue his 700+ day NXT UK Championship run?
- Adam Cole Vs Kyle O’Reilly - NXT Takeover: 36 – 4 ½* - This match should’ve been locked back on as a great end to their feud but unfortutnately the build up for this match just had fans thinking – Will this be Adam Cole’s last NXT/WWE Match or will he be debuting on the main roster tomorrow?
- Mei Saruga vs Emi Sakura - ChocoProLIVE! 09/08/21 - As per Jakefmerch suggestion (could be wrong about the date on this one)
- Masato Tanaka vs. Takashi Sugiura - NOAH Kawasaki Go – Cagematch Rating: 8.78 – I know people will be annoyed that I didn’t include too much NOAH matches on this list, however I only got to see 3-4 shows and this one was a fantastic match. Masato Tanaka has still got it and in this hard-hitting strong-style match it is proven.
September - Cara Noir Vs Chris Ridgeway – Progress Chapter 121 – Cagematch Rating: 8.67 – Another Iron-Man match to add to this list – I’d argue that this is the best Progress match since 2019. Please go out of your way to watch this match it is on the WWE Network.
- Lucha Brothers Vs Young Bucks - AEW All Out 2021 – 5 ¾* - The best tag-team match you’ll see on this list – you need to kill 30-40 minutes and want to enjoy great wrestling? This is the match for you; I don’t believe in breaking the rating scale more than 5 stars but in my mind this is an amazing 5 star match.
- CM Punk Vs Darby Allen – AEW All Out 2021 – 3 ¾* - In one of the most shocking moments in Wrestling for 2021 – we saw the return of CM Punk. He would join AEW and his first match back in 7 years was against one of the pillars of AEW, Darby Allen.
- Shingo Vs Tomohiro Ishii – NJPW G1 Climax Night 1 – 5 ½* - Can't find link - if anyone has it can they please link me it and I'll add it in.
- Roman Reigns Vs Big E Vs Bobby Lashley – Raw 20/09/2021 - 4 ¼*
- Bryan Danielson Vs Kenny Omega – AEW Dynamite 22/09/2021 - 5* - If you thought Punk debuting in AEW was shocking, we had another shocking debut less than a month later with Bryan Danielson – and he didn’t hide what he wanted to do; he wanted to prove he was the best wrestler in the world and his first feud would be against AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. Just a heads up you’re about to see 4-5 more Danielson matches on this list and they’re all arguably 5 star classics.
October November - MJF Vs Darby Allin – AEW Full Gear 2021 – 4 ½* - Two of the pillars of AEW would open this show and honestly I could argue that this was the match of the night – this is legitimately a 5 star classic; Allin and MJF both exceeded expectations and over-delivered.
- CM Punk Vs Eddie Kingston – AEW Full Gear 2021 – 4 ½* - The promo battles leading into this match are highly recommended to get the full backstory. Kingston is one of the only wrestlers in history that could get a crowd to turn on Punk. This was hard-hitting brawl and felt very real – it’s short but it’s exactly what you needed it to be.
- Adam Page Vs Kenny Omega – AEW Full Gear 2021 – 5 ½* - This would be the culmination of the Hangman Adam Page storyline which was going for nearly 2 years. Two friends, finally completing against each other for the companies richest prize – the AEW World Championship.
- Becky Lynch Vs Charlotte Flair – Survivor Series 2021 – 4 ¼* - Real life backstage animosity and internet rumors fueled this feud. I remember leading into the PPV I kept saying that due to their history and previous matches always being amazing that they should have main-evented this show; and compared to what we got in the main-event I still think it should’ve main evented.
December - NXT Black & Gold Vs NXT 2.0 - NXT WarGames 2021 – 4 ¾* - This would be the changing of the guard; this match would be sold as the NXT Veterans against the NXT 2.0 Rookies. This is legitimately great match and I think that every WarGames main event in NXT has always delivered. I should also note that this is rumored to be Johnny Garganos (Mr. NXT) last match on the brand.
- Moustache Mountain Vs Pretty Deadly – NXT UK 09/12/2021 - Cagematch: 8.33 – I’m surprised that this didn’t get enough traction – it was a fantastic moment and a very enjoyable match. Most of Pretty Deadly’s reign were against Gallus and other competitors but wrestling against 2 of the pillars of NXT UK – Bate & Seven really proved that they are excellent talents.
- The Briscoes Vs The OGK – ROH Final Battle 2021 – 4 ½*
- Jonathan Gresham Vs Jay Lethal – ROH Final Battle 2021 – 3 ¾* - This match was build as the last Ring of Honor match and it was for the original Ring of Honor championship belt. They will/have released everyone from their contracts and are rumored to be moving to a different formula in April. It was an emotional night for past and present ROH stars all making their presence felt on the show.
- Adam Page Vs Bryan Danielson – AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming – 5* - Our final match of the year is Hangman Page vs Bryan Danielson. The face of the AEW against arguably the greatest wrestler in the world. Bryan now acting as a heel took Page to the limits and we still haven’t seen the end of this feud – on the first show of AEW Dynamite next year we will be getting the rematch from this classic.
Thanks for taking the time to read this list, I hope you enjoyed it. I wish everyone a happy new year and everyone is safe, I hope everyone enjoyed the wrestling world of 2021 because I know for sure it was an improvement from 2020. I am hoping in 2022 I can start making new lists for the stars of AEW, new stars of WWE/NXT and even revisit some of my previous lists from 2016/17 and add the last 4 years.

2021.04.03 20:32 dogglesnake Tonight at 8:00 pm EDT, 5:00 pm PDT (Sunday at 1:00 am BST, 9 am JST) DDT Pro-Wrestling Presents...Chris Brookes Produce Show 3: Danger & Pleasure Tour '96! Baliyan Akki vs HARASHIMA! Men's Club vs the 37 Kamiina! Chris Brookes vs Mecha Mummy!
Chris Brookes is at it again! Tonight at 8:00 pm EDT, 5:00 pm PDT (Sunday at 1:00 am BST, 9 am JST) DDT's Third LIVE Chris Brookes Produce Show with English Commentary will be airing! If you're looking for a good time, the first two were completely ridiculous! Orrrr if you're hungry for a free preview of some related wrestling right now, how about
HARASHIMA vs Sakaguchi (What a match!) or
Chris Brookes vs Super Hardcore Shunma Katsumata in a Barbed Wire Coffin Deathmatch? (Don't say I didn't give you more free wrestling!)
Tonight's show is available via the
Wrestle Universe subscription (Here is a guide to signing up if need be), which also
includes TJPW (Maki Itoh's home promotion!), NOAH, GanPro and
more! The first month is free. Roughly 9 dollars a month for more wrestling than you could handle, of
various styles! You might already be familiar with
Chris Brookes, but this card is absolutely stacked with talent and fun. You can also follow the
DDT/TJPW English Update Twitter Account, which often includes neat little notes along the way!
If you're planning to tweet about the show, use the hashtags #ddtpro & #ddtCBP3 If you're in a rush, here is an even quicker preview by Last World on Pro Wrestling! DDT EXTREME CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE! Chris Brookes vs MECHA MUMMY Chris Brookes defeated Shunma Katsumata to become the new DDT Extreme Champion. The match was gruesome, bloody, and full of clowns. (Don't believe me? I linked it at the top!) One of the unique traits of this championship (that is emulated by other companies...) is that the Champ gets to decide the stipulations of the match the Challengers must endure. This time, however, we're just gonna have a good old fashioned wrestling match!
Against a...Robotic...Mummy! The
Extremely Tall Champion has an incredible reach, a penchant for nasty submissions, and potentially a deathwish...but can he take down an evil robot? Chris might be confident in his own abilities, but after getting hit with a Rocket Fist or a Giant Drill, he just might think that “
Everything is Terrible!” Mecha Mummy short circuited against Mecha Pa-Mi in the last Produce Show (in arguably one of the best endings to a wrestling match ever) but you can't keep a mummy down (
Minoru Suzuki killed him that one time, too)! He will probably bring that
Egypt Dust with him again (as well as all the vibrations you could ask for!) Ever wanted to see a giant octopus fight a giant robot for a title belt?
Generational Clash of Men's Professional Wrestling! Men's Club vs The 37 Kamiina (with Keigo Nakamura) Representing the Past in this bout will be the Men's Club!
Men's Teioh,
Makoto Oishi, and
Hagane Shinno (what a crazy team!) have enough experience between them to school just about any young upstarts. Makoto Oishi (uniquely dressed submission master) is now a member of
Junretsu (and proud father!), Hagane Shinno is a viscious but silent freelancer that frequents
ChocoPro as its resident
Cold Killer, and Men's Teioh (who has one of the most interesting names I've come across) is the biggest veteran of the team (debuting in
1992!). Fun Fact: The English translation of his ring name,
Terry's Boy, is a homage to
Terry Funk. An original member of
Kai En Tai, Men's Teioh has made a name for himself all over the globe. He'll need some of his
extreme past to take on the
Degenerates of Present: the
Sauna Club! (
Now known as the 37 Kamiina, a Japanese pun due to the fact 37 is read as “Sauna”. I'm not smart enough to explain it!)
While
Takeshita is away
evolving (I wonder where he went..?)
Mao and
Yuki Ueno will be representing the faction this time. Mao is a technical genius, inventing new ways of countering you in the flow of battle, while Yuki Ueno (the
Universal champ!) has been pumping out top tier title defenses non stop. Both even have impressive bouts against the fan beloved
Eruption stable, as well! This combo might be the fastest possible out of the Unit, so expect some spicy exchanges and ungodly hits. Oh...and
Keigo Nakamura will be there too. He might still be somewhat new to the business, but this oddball is probably going to be the top of the promotion before too long. Don't let his simple gear style deceive you! Between these two teams, you almost have the makings of a solid
BOYZ show! Who will win this handsome battle? Speaking of which...
Somato vs Namaste: Akki's Next Challenge! HARASHIMA vs Baliyan Akki If you've never seen the
handsome veteran HARASHIMA in action (watch that match at the start of the write up!) he's awe inspiring. One of the old guard of DDT that can still bring an intensity that rivals the youth of the scene, HARASHIMA's striking and reversals can bring down the fiercest of opponents (did you watch that match earlier?
Sakaguchi is a killer!) so
Akki is going to have his hands full. He's just so fluid and powerful, coupled with his high level of charisma! Everyone that uses the
Somato seems to be an absolute monster! This stylish maverick is no exception, and his moveset is one of the coolest you'll find out there. While
HARASHIMA might look like the star of a Drama.jpg), Akki might end up thinking he's in a horror film! (You'll find out why I enjoy watching HARASHIMA so much rather quickly, I think!)
While the
Ace of ChocoPro, Baliyan Akki, hasn't
had the best luck against veterans lately...he has given each one a serious run for their money. There is just some undeniable special characteristic to him...Akki dazzles the audiences of
Gatoh Move,
Heat Up,
Zero1, and even
AJPW! His reach is even expanding to
TJPW, since he'll be one of the English Commentary of the upcoming
“That's J-PW”! Skilled far beyond his age, the
Zephyr of Ichigaya can pull off some truly amazing feats. I will never forget him splashing the opposite corner's drop zone! Those rapid yet breezy combo's are something to note, as well! Akki's unique journey to this point is
well documented by the WRSTLING Podcast! It doesn't take long to see why the ChocoPro faithful are so proud of him, but as always,
Akki will prove his worth to you. DDT has been doing a tremendous amount of work to cater to the English Speaking fans! This is just one example. I'd like for the show to get the attention it deserves, hence why the usually
ChocoPro promoting DOGU has done this too! DDT is much more than a comedy promotion. Badass Factions, Creative Stipulations (That other major companies copy all the time...), Brutal Tournaments, and a certain Veteran Champ with lots of credibility (Come fight him,
Kingston!)...It's rad as hell! Give it a chance, between it and the rest of the stuff the Universe sub gets you, you're gonna be super satisfied.
If you're already signed up, here is the First Show to hold you over! That one features
Brookes vs Miyu Yamashita and Drew Parker vs Super Hardcore Shunma! Here is the second one! It is just as good! It features Chris Brookes & Miyu Yamashita vs Yuki Ueno & Shunma Katsumata, Konosuke Takeshita vs Baliyan Akki, and Mecha Mummy vs Hyper Misao! submitted by

2021.02.06 22:15 dogglesnake Tonight at 7:00 pm EST! DDT's Chris Brookes Produce Show #2 LIVE with English Commentary! Here's a quick guide to the event and how to watch it.
They let him do another one!? Tonight at 7:00 pm EST, 4:00 pm PST (Sunday at 12:00 am GMT, 9 am JST) DDT's Second LIVE Chris Brookes Produce Show with English Commentary will be airing! If you're looking for a good time, the first one was AWESOME.
Here is some of the wrestlers talking to you in English! It is available via the
Wrestle Universe subscription (Here is a guide to signing up if need be), which also
includes TJPW, NOAH, GanPro and
more! The first month is free. Roughly 9 dollars a month for more wrestling than you could handle, of
various styles! You might already be familiar with only
Chris Brookes, but this card is absolutely stacked with talent and fun. You can also follow the
DDT/TJPW English Update Twitter Account, which often includes neat little notes along the way!
Larger than Life Battle! Will the city survive? Mecha Mummy vs Hyper Misao A tale as old as time,
Super Hero versus
Machine.
Hyper Misao is the
Defender of Love & Peace.
Her journey is one of the best wrestling stories I've ever encountered, and while she tends to usual partake in comedy matches (due to her schemes and gadgets) there is no doubting Misao's talent. Her win over
Yuka Sakazaki in the
Princess Cup last year caught many off guard (including Yuka)! Having recently become the first married active member of the
TJPW roster after scaring us all with a potential retirement, Hyper Misao has continued her 100% fair and just tactics as usual.
Now, a
villain has appeared before her! You might know of
Mecha Mummy, or perhaps you just know that he fought
Minoru Suzuki that one time. Basically try to imagine a giant robot power rangers monster, and you're almost there. This character is amazing, and this match should be a blast...in more ways than one! Can our Hero overcome this foe? Tune in to find out!
Former Rivals take on the Fan Beloved Sauna Club! Chris Brookes & Miyu Yamashita vs DDT Sauna Club (Yuki Ueno & Shunma Katsumata) Chris Brookes got kicked a lot by
Miyu Yamashita last time. After the thrilling match ended, he decided that the next time they were in the ring together...they would be on the same team! Brookes is a
submission wizard with a wide arsenal of techniques and styles available. He is the former
DDT Universal Champion. Yamashita is a brutal
striker with an icy gaze and the air of a champion, even when she doesn't have a belt. (Though she is a former two time
TJPW Princess of Princess Champion...in fact, she was
the first!) These two differing styles should come together in interesting ways, especially considering Brookes is so adaptable in tag teams.
Yuki Ueno is the current
DDT Universal Champion, having
beaten Chris for the belt. His youthful vigor and
boyish charm distract you from his surprising power and viciousness. His tag team with
Naomi Yoshimura (Nautilus) was one of the best DDT has ever seen!
Shunma Katsumata is a
Deathmatch specialist who prefers the use of
block toys in bouts. His penchant for hurting himself to hurt his opponents is the stuff of legends. Lately though, these two have been spending most of their time in the
Sauna with the rest of their stablemates in the
DDT Sauna Club! These lovable rascals are incredibly popular among the DDT audience. But will it be possible to cheer for them over Yamashita? (And Brookes, I guess!)
Ace against Ace! DDT vs ChocoPro! (in a Ring!) Konosuke Takeshita vs Baliyan Akki If you haven't seen either of these two at work, you're in for a treat!
Takeshita is the
Ace of DDT. An incredible technician who has
the look, the
it factor, the skill, everything you want in a star. He's been doing battle with his new rival,
Jun Akiyama, lately...and a big win in front of a new audience might just be the spark to get him back on track. The youngest
KO-D Openweight Champion in history. He has fought
Hiroshi Tanashi. He defeated
Go Shiozaki.
Kenny Omega dubbed him
“The Future of DDT”. Power, Speed, and Charisma off the charts...Takeshita reminds me of a wrestling ideal form that many strive to be, few will ever reach. An icon of the sport.
His opponent is the
Ace of ChocoPro, Baliyan Akki. While you might have seen him in
Gatoh Move,
Heat Up, or even
AJPW...Akki is going to be regarded in mythical terms someday. Some of the techniques he can pull off (Like flying all the way across the ring for a
long distance splash, doing
hit combos that seem just too quick, and somehow managing to
elevate all of his opponents) just seem unreal for someone his age. Did you know these two are
25, and were born
one day apart? Akki's journey to this point is
worth looking up. He has taken a unique path...but has earned everything he has gained. There is a reason we are so very proud of him...and so delighted that he gets this opportunity for a spotlight. I don't need to hype him up though, to be honest.
Akki will prove his worth to you. DDT has been doing a lot to cater to the English Speaking fans! This is just one example. I'd like for the show to get the attention it deserves, hence why the usually ChocoPro promoting DOGU has done this too! DDT is much more than a comedy promotion. Badass Factions, Creative Stipulations (That other major companies copy all the time...), Brutal Tournaments, and ungodly skilled top champ...It's rad as hell! Give it a chance, between it and the rest of the stuff the Universe sub gets you, you're gonna be satisfied.
If you're already signed up, here is the First Show to hold you over! This one features
Brookes vs Miyu Yamashita and
Drew Parker vs Super Hardcore Shunma! If you're not, how about a free DDT match on YouTube featuring Chris Brookes? submitted by

2021.01.01 11:38 MatthewMir The Essential 2020 Match Collection: The best and most significant 2020 matches
Hey wrestling fans, yes I’m back for a special edition of an Essential List. For those who don’t know me or what this is it’s simple - I give Wreddit a retrospective list of matches from a certain superstar. Over the last couple of weeks I made several lists of
Essential Career Matches. You can either access them all through this
link or here:
This week we’re looking at year that was 2020. It was a horrible year for many reasons, including a global pandemic. The wrestling landscape has changed in all promotions all around the world.
January: February: March: April: - AJ Styles Vs The Undertaker – Wrestlemania 36 Night 1 – Cagematch Rating: 7.81 – In March of this year, it seemed that everyones life had been turned upside down. The COVID-19 Virus Pandemic was in full effect. The rumors of Wrestlemania being cancelled were running wild.. but you know WWE and that the show always goes on. WWE started to do cinematic matches and what better way to protect the limited Undertaker then place him in a feud/match with arguably the best wrestler that WWE had to offer – AJ Styles in a gimmicked ‘boneyard match’. The aftermath of this match gained the knowledge that his would actually be Undertakers last match ever.
- Charlotte Flair Vs Rhea Ripley – Wrestlemania 36 Night 2 – Cagematch Rating: 8 – In my opinion this was the best wrestling match on the two-day extravaganza that was Wrestlemania. Rhea has a big future in WWE and pairing her with Charlotte Flair helped spotlight her in a big way.
May: June: - Cody Vs Jungle Boy – AEW Dynamite 03/06/2020 - 4 ¼*
- Io Shirai Vs Charlotte Flair Vs Rhea Ripley – NXT Takeover: In Your House – 4 ¼*
- AJ Styles Vs Daniel Bryan – Smackdown 08/06/2020 – 4 ¾* - I think for a lot of wrestling fans this would be their match of the year – I mean it’s my match of the year. I think the only thing that hurt this match was that it was on Smackdown TV and featured several commercials. I think if this match was on a PPV with no commercial breaks to stop the flow of this match it would be looked more fondly on. I personally gave this match a perfect 5 stars.
- Randy Orton Vs Edge – Backlash 2020 – Cagematch Rating: 8.17 – This match was sold as ‘The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’ and you know what, for all the people making fun of this match leading into it – it was actually pretty damn good. Compared to their Wrestlemania match, this was night and day, a much better match. The call-backs to several top stars and top feuds added big time to this match. It’s a shame that Edge would get injured during this match and miss the remainder of 2020.
- Masato Tanaka Vs Tetsuya Endo - DDT Wrestle Peter Pan 2020 Night 2 - Cagematch Rating: 9.20 – I love when people recommend matches from promotions or wrestlers I am unfamiliar with, and this is one of them. Please go out of your way to watch this match and I promise you that you will enjoy it.
July: August: September: October: November: - Kenny Omega Vs Adam Page – AEW Full Gear – 4 ½* - This feud had been building up for almost 12 months - whether you were watching the weekly shows on Dynamite or Being The Elite; it all came to a head at Full Gear. With Kenny Omega as the new AEW Championship, I do hope that down the line we will get to see Page compete against him for the Championship in the future.
- The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) Vs FTR – AEW Full Gear - 5 ¼* - People may have complained about the build up to this dream match, but who gives a fuck because when that bell rang these two teams put on absolute magic. This is going to be one of those matches wrestling fans are going to be talking about for years to come.
- Go Shozaki Vs Katsuhiko Nakajima – Noah 20th Anniversary – 4 ¾*
- Drew McIntryre Vs Roman Reigns – Survivor Series 2020 – 4 ¼* - The two top WWE Talents and champions for their respective brands came together to compete against at Survivor Series as it is the one time a year that RAW and Smackdown go head to head in competition. It is good if you watched their Wrestlemania 35 match and this match back to back just to see how both men have improved dramatically.
- A-Kid Vs Trent Seven – NXT UK 26/11/2020 - Cagematch Rating: 8.42 - A-Kid is the fastest rising star on the NXT UK side - I hope he gets more exposure because every time I watch him it is a complete joy and his matches are always entertaining.
December: Thanks for taking the time to read this list, I hope you enjoyed it. I hope everyone enjoy the wrestling world of 2020. I’ll be back hopefully in the future with another list. If you have any suggestions of whom you want an essential list for feel free to message me or leave a comment on this.
