Of course, Hindu men commit crimes against Hindu women, just like Muslim men commit crimes against Muslim women, Sikh men against Sikh women, Christian men against Christian women and so on. These crimes are of various nature, some very very serious. (For that matter women also commit crimes against men, but it is out of scope of this write up). As a society we have acknowledged these crimes and made laws, often strict, to prevent them. As these crimes are often social in nature, only law is not sufficient to deal with them, so we also teach our young and try to mold the society in the desired manner. Having acknowledged these crimes exist, lets now see why these crimes are different from what is popularly called “Love Jihad”. 1 Hate crime : A crime is considered a hate crime if the victim was targeted based on their identity. For example, muggings happen in New York subway, but if someone mugs only Jewish people, then it is not just a mugging, it is a hate crime and the criminal is charged with stricter laws. The same applies to Love Jihad cases where Hindu women are specifically targeted. In Ajmer sex scandal, out of the 250 victims, how many were Muslim? It was hate crime, not a social crime. This is not a regular crime, this is religious. 3 Backed by the wider society : As seen in the recent case in Pune, when a Hindu underage girl is abducted the entire Muslim society seems to hush it up. The mother of the accused, the Maulvi who converts and marries the girl knowing fully well she is underage, the family, even the first wife or wives fully support these criminal acts. Ever heard a Muslim whistle-blower saving a Hindu girl? This points to a very unhealthy mindset that is different from regular crimes. This makes saving these girls far far more difficult. 4 Repeating patterns : Many patterns repeat in these cases. It may appear simplistic, but faking identity, use of force and intimidation, targeting underage girls, conversion, involvement of more than just one person, violence etc repeat in many cases. Not to deny other complexities, but this obvious presence of recurring patterns itself makes these crimes different from other crimes. The reason we are discussing crime is to prevent it right? Then failing to identify patterns will only lead to failure to prevent such crimes. 5 Organized apologia : A tell tale clue is the existence of organized intellectual class that keeps denying love jihad exists. No such gangs exist to deny regular crimes. On the other hand popular media keeps glorifying relations between Hindu girls and Muslim men, but not the other way around. How many Feminism and Youth forums on Instagram have covered the 100s of attacks on Hindu men for talking to Muslim women? None. The very existence of such people in media, academia, entertainment etc reveals that the nature of these crimes is indeed different. 6 : Disturbing no of underage cases : A truly disgusting aspect that is common is the shocking no of underage girls being groomed by older men. If you look at the recent cases from Delhi, Uttarakhand, Pune etc, ALL of them involve underage girls incapable of consent. This phenomenon is the clearest evidence of organised grooming. Except Jorg...well...Jorg pretty much always chooses to fight. *The privates eyes widen curiously as he stares the little grey up and down before him. Private: Is he...is he dangerous!? *The USSF Commander laughs heartily as he slams his hand upon the provisional warehouse window and retorts excitedly. USSF Commander: HAH! What happens next can best be described through the conveyance of a matter of collective very short-lived and somewhat difficulty perceived moments. The next soldier and the next and the next and the next; all of them simultaneously rush towards the little grey slinging their fists and their weapons towards the inattentive and unbothered little grey. Jorg bobs, weaves, and feints his big grey bandanna wrapped head not unlike a hyperactive, super-powered Muhammad Ali; as fist and all flies from every perceivable angle, not ever touching him...not even once, his attention still diverted towards his fluttering dress all the while. Another military combatant rushes forewords and thrusts a kick towards the grey; to which he spins out of reach with seamless grace as yet another kick comes flying from it's opposing direction to which the grey quickly ducks then loops his body around from underneath...still playing with the hem of his pretty red dress still humming to himself gleefully as Luna erupts with laughter. Sergeant: What...what the hell IS THIS!? Luna: I TOLD YOU! Private: He....He never even LOOKED at us...NOT ONCE! *The Director stares at Luna and Alpha then questions them curiously. USSF Director: Why isn't he defending himself? Alpha: ...Probably because Jorg doesn't see any of you as a threat. *The boisterous military Sergeant walks towards Jorg then plants a single finger upon his forehead then slowly pushes him backwards; to which Jorg sways back then forwards then rests in the exact same position of which he'd originally been. Sergeant: What do you mean he doesn't see us as a threat? *Alpha responds casually. Alpha: I mean exactly what I said! Jorg only reacts when driven towards it from an outside stimulus; when he himself, someone he cares about, or perhaps even others are under certain conditions of diress such as a threat or pressure or the friction of oncoming conflict. You're not big enough, strong enough, forceful enough or physically capable through your own recognizance of being a perceivable threat to him. *The Sergeant stands from the opposing side of the playful grey in the little red dress then angrily unbuttons and unholsters his service weapon as he holds it in both hands, pointed towards the ground. *The USSF Commander laughs a riotous laugh as he spectates from the warehouse window some distance away then pounds the desk upon it once more as he goads the Sergeant playfully. Well, that's another matter entirely. Just like one perceptive light switch suddenly being flicked on from deep, deep, deep within Jorg’s psyche. The little grey suddenly raises his head; his black, saucer shaped eyes widened with a perfectly aligned subconscious awareness. One of them twitching erratically above a maddened grin as above and all throughout this training room; the loud deafening roar of electric guitar reverberates one ear-splitting and most deafening melody. He quickly utilizes his telekinetic energy with one hand to jerk the firearm out from within the Sergeant's grasp not unlike a vaulted football ripped from between a running back's fingers. And as this pistol flies and spins towards Jorg he launches himself into the air, quickly preforming a spinning back kick that smacks against the gun sending it ricocheting and flipping once more until it hurtles directly dead center of the Sergeant's face sending him spiraling and sprawled out upon the ground nearby while the gun itself deflects, is thrown against a nearby wall and then misfires. Space Marine: SHIT...MY LEG! And as the lyrics of the song echo and vibrates all throughout this training room, quaking its walls and cushioned floormats with every progressing spoken word; the frightened private quickly turns to sprint in the other direction, absolutely ANY direction away from Jorg. But little did he know; it was far, far, far too late... Jorg harnesses his telekinetic energy to rip the man's legs out from beneath him, as he does Jorg quickly sprints forward, leaps into the air again like a telekinetic grasshopper then dead drops his knee into the private's back. As Jorg "ground and pounds" the back of the privates combat protective headgear repeatedly in rapid succession; not unlike quick repeating Wing-Chun punches into the back of the man's head, striking and bouncing his forehead off of the training floor's cushioned material all to the rhythm of this melody. Elsewhere at the provisional warehouse window the USSF Commander slams his hand down upon the table once more as he also comments; smiling at the QuarterMaster with a shit eating grin all the while. USSF Commander: That looked like it HURT LIKE HELL! GET EM' HOSS! *The QuarterMaster also comments, sneering distastefully. QuarterMaster: I fuckin' hate you... Elsewhere amongst the whirlwind of rapid, successful strikes and all to a melody; Jorg now stands his miniskirt fluttering in training room's AC cooled air along with the motion of his movements with the Marine's now broken ankle held between the palms of his hands; the man still wailing with pain. In an amount of time accumulating to less than the passage of a few seconds; the grey spins and leg sweeps the other man's remaining limb, tossing him upwards into the air before kicking him in the abdomen with a telekinetically reinforced strike that sends the man hurtling into and bouncing off of the nearest wall. As another approaching soldier moves in to strike Jorg the grey quickly hops a foot into the air once more; then quickly plants a deflective side kick in rapid, fluid succession into the center of the man's chest which sends him staggering back just a few paces. *The soldier hardens himself as he pounds his chest then closes in on Jorg once more. Space Marine: IS THAT ALL YOU GOT!? And as this melody continues to pound with a thunderous roar all throughout the training room; Jorg smiles a sadistic smile. While the man races forwards to preform a takedown upon the little grey, Jorg quickly and acrobatically dips his head and upper abdomen towards the ground. With a certain level of martial flexibility mirroring that of a Shaolin Monk the grey lifts the pad of his foot from behind towards where his head originally was, arching it upwards and from behind his backside with his torso now angled downwards, he then slams the bottom of his foot into the Marine's forehead; stunning him instantaneously. Jorg quickly rights his equilibrium and with a fluid, unceasing movement uses that very same leg to plant a telekinetically charged front kick into the man's sternum; sending him flying backwards and crashing into yet another padded wall. Space Marine: YOU CRAZY LITTLE SHIT! A remaining marine shouts at Jorg and then races towards him from a flanked position sending his own angled "axe kick" towards the grey's abdomen. And as this melody pounds and reverberates the ether all around from every perceivable direction; without so much as a moments hesitation, forethought, or consideration Jorg side steps then archs his own leg around the own man's "Axe Kick" locking it into place. *The Marine's eyes meet the grey's; whose deep, darkened saucer shaped eyes are deadlocked onto his own. Shining with a glossy, detached madness as the grey's smile widens. And with their legs locked in place, Jorg intentionally restricts the man's movement; the Marine's remaining free leg trembles as he utters words of fear and astonishment. Space Marine: Oh....SHI- *Before the man can even get the words out the grey hops into the air with his remaining leg with the other still locked in place, then uses his free leg to dropkick the soldier dead center of his chest with another telekinetically reinforced strike before quickly releasing his leglock to send the man vaulting into another padded wall not unlike a human bullet. And as this resounding melody finally tolls onwards towards it's completion; the little grey still stands in the middle of this training room. In the exact spot in which he'd originally began; surrounded by moaning, bloody, blackened and bruised human cadavers. Who at this point are each and all very, very much alive; though perhaps their pride...not so much. *Luna shakes her head from side to side as the USSF Director speaks. USSF Director: Well...we're never doing that again! *Alpha stares at the director and smiles with an air of apathy. Might want to sit down with a brew for this one because this turned into an essay i'm sorry.
I've seen so many people especially after season two just downright hating Eloise for not wanting to accept the misogynistic society that she lives in so i'm giving my input because I can.
A lot of people mention that she's overly privileged and that her feminism isn't intersectional, Bridgerton season one takes place in 1813, women weren't allowed to vote until 1918, 105 years later and only over the age of 30. I do agree that modern feminism should be intersectional, but when women's rights weren't even a thought to seemingly anyone in the show other than Eloise, i'm not suprised her feminism is basic and selfish.
In season 2, two moments that stuck out to me were the birthing scene where Anthony who couldn't have been more than 20-25 has to choose between his dying mother who is bleeding out but physically begging for her life, or his siblings, his mother's choice is overruled by the fact that she has a son, and his choice determines whether she gets to live or is forced to die whether she wants that or not.
The other moment is when they give Anthony Eloise's trauma, whilst i'm not disputing Anthony had trauma from being the eldest boy and his father dying, Eloise was the one who actually watched him die, that trauma made her who she is in a way and they took her pain and gave it to Anthony to further his character arc instead of hers when the time comes, unless they do a retcon she never gets that character defining moment back, which you can say that her trauma does not define her but then why did the writers give that trauma to Anthony if it affects nothing.
Let's talk about the trauma they did give Eloise, her birth trauma, something I don't remember if they touched on in the books but they did in the show. Eloise has had 2 scenes to do with hearing her mother almost dying from birthing her siblings, we see it in season 2 and in season 1 she refences it because she is terrified that she's going to lose her older sister to giving birth, it scares her, it makes her panic and yet it's treated as if Eloise is just being silly or naive, she has nowhere to put these feelings because nobody validates them, she is scared of childbirth and yet her mother fails to explain sex and actively stops her brothers from telling her (even if they weren't being very good teachers) because it's deemed she's too young except that year was supposed to be her season aswell, she just deferred, so she would be allowed to look for a husband but not know how to 'produce heirs'.
There's a lot of amazing things about the Bridgertons but their waving off of Eloise everytime she mentions maybe not treating women like objects they act like she's a problem, they like her rebellious attitude until she actually may have a point then they refuse to look at themselves in the mirror Eloise is holding up because that would be too much trouble.
Anyway my point is, yes women should be able to sew without being ridiculed, they should be able get married and have babies and not be labelled sheep but equally they should be allowed to wear a pair of trousers, be allowed to meet with a boy without risking their families reputation, but they can't and the misogyny in the fandom because Eloise regects that 'traditional' aspect of life and talks down about it because nobody else will, nobody else has mentioned that these women in Bridgerton are just calves trussed up for auction, they don't get any real choice and yes the Bridgerton women get more choice than others but when your mother is screaming that she wants to live and your brother is the one getting to make that decision, wouldn't you be angry too whatever your station was.
Also loads of people are going to comment that it's just a rom-com show but it's not, if people can make comments about Eloise's feminism not being good enough then I can make a post like this.

At age 18, she was forced to marry a man for political reasons: Maria Theresa, Holy Roman Empress followed a marriage policy intending to strengthen the relationship between the Houses of Bourbon and Habsburg. When Maria Theresa's eldest son and heir, Archduke Joseph came of age, he was presented with a list and portraits of marriageable princesses fitting his mother's political goals and he picked Isabella.
After the wedding, it became apparent that while Joseph fell in love with her, she did not reciprocate his feelings, remained reserved towards him and found more fulfillment in her relationship with her sister-in-law, Archduchess Maria Christina, 'Marie' or 'Mimi'. The two quickly developed a very close relationship and spent so much time together that they earned a comparison with Orpheus and Eurydice. Despite living in the same place, they exchanged countless letters and small notes in French. Only those written by Isabella have survived (those of Marie were burned after her death) but even these amount to almost two hundred.
The two sisters-in-law liked each other from the time they met, but it seems that Isabella was also romantically and sexually attracted to Marie early on. The latter's feelings developed more gradually. Maria Christina was most likely bisexual: when she met Isabella, she was recovering from her love for Louis Eugene of Württemberg, after their relationship had been ended by her mother who considered him inferior to an archduchess.

Her physical appearance was the opposite of fashionable among noble ladies: she had olive skin and short hair. (!)
Isabella was also „melancholic”, as depression was known in the 18th century. Despite her usual liveliness and love of sports, she had sudden periods of being unable to move and sitting in her place staring in front of herself. It has been suggested that her problems, probably a form of bipolar disorder, were hereditary. Her mother's death also had a horrible effect on her, and she soon became convinced that she would not live for more than four years from then. Burdened by her marriage, difficult pregnancies and homosexual desires, she became suicidal. She admitted in a letter that she would feel 'great temptation' to commit s_icide if it was not forbidden by the church. As reasons for this she listed that she felt she was good for nothing, only did bad things, and saw no way for her salvation.
It seems that Marie was the great love of Isabella's life, who was not romantically or sexually attracted to her husband, but Marie looks to have been more reserved but did return her feelings. Soon, she was pregnant again, miscarrying in August 1762, and once more in January 1763. Maria Theresa was so worried by this that she counseled Joseph to wait for six months before trying for a son again, so that Isabella could recover. She became extremely thin, had a continuous dry cough, and experienced pain in her sides. Her pregnancies and especially her miscarriages had deepened her depression, which in turn eroded her will to live. Her death anxiety was aggravated by the well-known risks of child birth.
Isabella left many writings from the time of her marriage, analysing her life, her philosophy and the state of the world around her. She wrote her own, humorous autobiography under the title Les Aventures de l'étourderie, 'The Adventures of Amazement'. In her "Christian Reflections", she contemplated many religious questions and especially death.
Isabella also wrote a highly critical piece examining the status and behaviour of men in highly patriarchal contemporary European society, titled Traité sur les hommes ('Treatise on Men'). She argued that women were at least as good and capable as men if not better and mocked the male sex. Somewhat humorously, she described men as 'useless animals' only existing to 'do bad things, be impatient, and create confusion'. Based on her experiences, she concluded that men 'deprived of feelings, only loved themselves'. In her opinion, a man is born to think, but instead spend their lives 'with entertainment, yelling, playing heroes, running up and down, in other words, doing nothing but what flatters his vanity or requires no thought of him'.
She summarised why, in her opinion, men were nevertheless above women in society: firstly, so that their 'faults can make [women's] virtues shine brighter', secondly to become better every day, and, thirdly, 'to be endured in the world, from which, if they did not hold all power in their hands, they would be exiled entirely'. In conclusion, Isabella argued that the 'slavery' of women is caused by men sensing that women are superior to them.
One of Isabella's writings is a study titled „The Fate of Princesses”, in which she wrote that princesses were the 'victim of the a minister's unfortunate policies', saying that it was for some public good. She criticised the idea of allying countries through marriages, saying that this cannot lead to a lasting alliance. „They want to marry her off. She is therefore condemned to leave everything behind, her family, her homeland, and for whom? For a stranger, for a person whose character and way of thinking she does not know, for a family who will perhaps only look at her with jealousy, but in the best case with suspicion”.
Her "Reflections on Education" was Isabella's rejection of the traditional upbringing of children, and specifically a condemnation of the cruel tutors of her brother, as well as of their parents who put them in charge. In Isabella's opinion, the use of violence against children only reveals the adult's lack of understanding and talent in pedagogy. Instead of these methods, which she said had been gaining in popularity, she argued for kindness. (Again, remember, we are in the mid 18th century..…)
In 1763, she was heavily pregnant again, and reports of smallpox cases were made around Vienna. Isabella developed a fever, and it soon became clear that she had caught the disease. The fever induced labour three months early, and on 22 November, she gave birth to a second daughter. The baby was baptised as Maria Christina, as Isabella had requested, but died the same day.
Following the birth, Isabella was rarely conscious, but displayed a courage bordering on indifference. On 26 November, the doctors had to tell Joseph that Isabella was agonising, and she died on the next day at dawn, one month and three days before just her 22nd birthday. There is no record of Marie's reaction to Isabella's death. She stayed next to her until the end, and took care of her daughter until the girl herself died at seven.
According to a letter by Maria Theresa, Isabella entrusted her papers to her mother-in-law shortly before her death, saying that 'not everything was viewable' for Joseph. In what could be called her last will and testament, Isabella wrote a long letter to Maria Christina. This was a part of her preparation for death, as she was certain that she would die young and even looked forward to this. The Conseils à Marie ('Advice to Maria') consisted mostly of descriptions of their family members, including Maria Theresa and Joseph. Those advises helped her to become the only one of the empress' children to choose her own spouse and marry for love as she married Prince Albert Casimir of Saxony and lived a happy life with him.
After Maria Christina’s death at age 56, a miniature of Isabella and her daughter was found in her prayer book. On its back, she had written the date and cause of Isabella's death and that she was her best and truest friend who had 'lived as an angel and died as an angel'.

So this was the story. And the most tragic part I believe is: imagine what her life could’ve been in our lives, in the times of gay marriage, feminism, antibiotics, therapy, etc.. She should be a historical heroine on Sappho level.

She argued that women were at least as good and capable as men if not better and mocked the male sex. One of Isabella's writings is a study titled „The Fate of Princesses”, in which she wrote that princesses were the 'victim of the a minister's unfortunate policies', saying that it was for some public good. She criticised the idea of allying countries through marriages, saying that this cannot lead to a lasting alliance. „They want to marry her off. She is therefore condemned to leave everything behind, her family, her homeland, and for whom? For a stranger, for a person whose character and way of thinking she does not know, for a family who will perhaps only look at her with jealousy, but in the best case with suspicion”.
Her "Reflections on Education" was Isabella's rejection of the traditional upbringing of children, and specifically a condemnation of the cruel tutors of her brother, as well as of their parents who put them in charge. In Isabella's opinion, the use of violence against children only reveals the adult's lack of understanding and talent in pedagogy. I (20F) have been in a relationship with my boyfriend (19M) for 10 and a half months. I am, for lack of better words, a fat black woman. My boyfriend is hispanic. My boyfriend loves watching critical video essays on YouTube about trending topics. However, since we got together, I've noticed that the majority of the videos he watches criticize characters or real people that are fat, black, or a woman. Some examples of videos that I remember him watching are videos saying that Lizzo( a bigger black woman) is forcing fat acceptance, videos about modern female characters being mary sues, videos of people making fun of female twitch streamers, videos about black character representation being forced, and various videos on the dangers of modern feminism. A lot of the videos that he watches have valid points and I agree with a bit of SOME of the videos. Yet, I've told him how uncomfortable it makes me. I've never told him to stop watching the content all together. I just asked if he could watch something else when I'm over. His attitude and his content history makes me feel like he doesn't actually like people who are fat, black, or a woman. It makes up the majority of what he watches so it makes me feel like he's hinting at something. When we talked about it, he told me to stop taking things personally and that I was being over-emotional. He explained that he is not actively seeking out videos that criticize those demographics but that the current media is just focusing on those type of characters right now so all the new content is centered around them. I understand this but I still can't help but feel uncomfortable. So, am I overthinking this?

Quality is the consistent dominant narrative in early childhood education. Framed by Western worldviews and steeped in colonial logic, quality, in this sense, is described as normalizing, decontextualizing, regulating, managing, measuring, and operating under the values of universality, objectivity, and stability with no regard for diversity or context (Dahlberg et al. 2007). Often viewed as the ultimate goal in many early childhood teacher education programs and settings, quality across the early childhood sector drives decision-making and policies including early childhood teacher education. Generally, this type of quality is made visible through the focus on the individual child and the use of stage development, perpetuating the view of young children as deficit and learning and development as linear. This has contributed to the acceptance of pedagogy as activities and methods addressing surface-based skills (e.g., counting, phonics) rather than an engagement with meaning-making and complex thinking. The overuse of these discourses perpetuates a lack of understanding of children and their contexts and experiences. Further, the constant attention to achievement of milestones and individual processes pushes situated and daily moments of learning and teaching to the margin.Dahlberg et al. (2007) call for a paradigmatic shift in early childhood education that entails disrupting this dominant and narrow view of quality: rethinking quality as meaning-making, valuing complexity, multiplicity, subjectivity, context, provisionality, and uncertainty. This shift is reflective of post-foundational viewpoints, including critical theory, postmodernisms, post-structuralisms, postcolonialisms, and post-humanisms. Early childhood teacher education that is situated to rethink to the quality agenda and engage with post-foundational perspectives of meaning-making requires conceptual and pedagogical teaching practices, utilizing different ways of knowing, being, and doing. Early childhood teacher education constructed in this manner is supportive of generating twenty-first-century citizens who think with complexity, work collaboratively, and connect to the local and global communities.
Content and experiences within early childhood teacher education that rethink quality as meaning-making then build a strong sense of social justice while also educating all young children from diverse backgrounds, positioning pre-service teachers as agents of change. This includes critically inquiring and intentionally acting on ethnicity, race, social class, gender, gender expression, culture, religion, language, ability, and sexual identities to empower pre-service teachers in generating practices of equity and critical consciousness. Early childhood teacher education is positioned in the broader social, historical, political, and cultural contexts and addresses the significance of place as it is related to these broader and local contexts.
Alternative Narratives of Early Childhood Teacher Education
Drawing from multidisciplinary perspectives including post-foundationalism, feminism, post-developmentalism, sociology, and postcolonialism, place, and Indigenous worldviews, alternative narratives disrupt the dominant narratives in early childhood teacher education and engage pre-service teachers in the politics and ethics of teaching. Alternative narratives generate multiple perspectives and diversities while offering a provocation to rethinking and pondering what is possible in early childhood teacher education. Foregrounding teacher education with alternative narratives positions practices as engaging with complexity (Pacini-Ketchabaw et al. 2015) and diversity inclusive of the political, social, economic, and cultural context. Engaging with complexity is never standing outside the early childhood setting but rather co-participating and being with – all contributing to meaning-making for teachers, children, and families. Meaning-making is part of the daily classroom life and creates conditions to rethink practice focused on ideas and concepts rather than consuming skills and separate disciplinary content, often in a decontextualized manner. Part of this work is embracing uncertainty rather than universal truths perpetuated through the dominant narratives that are limited by developmental logic. This means actively resisting teaching practices that universalize, marginalize, and normalize and instead being in relation and entangled with the messiness of teaching and learning (Dahlberg et al. 2007). In places of ongoing settler colonialism, this requires understanding the ways in which children and early childhood educators are entangled with postcolonial geohistories of place.Narratives of Place
Euro-Western narratives situate place as romantic and innocent, a “natural” place for children to play. This framing of place is linear and does not consider place as relational and agentic or engage with all the histories that places hold. Alternative narratives of place move beyond environmental stewardship framings and attend to the ways in which human and more-than-human worlds are already entangled (Taylor 2017). Place is understood as something more than a geographical space as it is not “culturally or politically neutral’ (Mignolo 2003, quoted in Tuck et al. 2014, p. 1) and is a “territory that is Indigenous and which has been and continues to be subject to the forces of colonization” (Tuck et al. 2014, p. 1). Recognizing place as not without an historical, political, or ethical context attends to the ethics and politics of place, bringing together nature and culture (Haraway 2008) and enacting pedagogies of concern.Alternative narratives of place foreground Indigenous knowledges, shifting perceptions of place beyond an innocent (or at best pretty) backdrop to teaching and learning. It is important to acknowledge that engaging with place in a postcolonial setting requires engaging with place in a conceptually different way. This difference focuses on looking beyond the colonial inscriptions of place and acknowledging the colonial violences that have been committed to places with the aim of recovering Indigenous ways of knowing and being (Tuck et al. 2014). This acknowledges that Indigenous epistemologies and ontologies are in the center of meaning-making, not at the periphery. This is a deliberate political and ethical practice that acknowledges Indigenous people’s original and ongoing connections with the land. This connection involves much more than the space and the place.
Indigenous Worldviews and Place in Early Childhood Teacher Education
Thinking with local, place-based Indigenous perspectives is largely absent from early childhood teacher education. In particular, Indigenous perspectives are often “othered” as part of wider multicultural discussions, resulting in tokenistic practices that homogenize Indigenous culture. Engaging in alternative narratives of place that respectfully foreground Indigenous worldviews disrupts dominant settler perspectives. Early childhood teacher education focused on the practice of engaging with local, specific Indigenous knowledges requires authentic, respectful connections to local Indigenous groups and a commitment to engage with the full range of historical, political, and ethical contexts. This disrupts the knowledge consumption so easily practiced within the narratives of the individual and traditional stage theories of development and provides a way for teacher educators and pre-service teachers to move beyond the taken-for-granted narratives of early childhood in order to think with local, place-based perspectives.The inclusion of place in early childhood teacher education resituates pedagogy as a thinking, ethical, and political practice. Rethinking early childhood teacher education with strong relations with place recognizes the entanglements with humans and the more-than-human engaging with multiple narratives of a place and acknowledges the politics and knowledges constructed within and about a place. In this sense, pedagogy activates relationality and complexity in early childhood teaching, making visible the multiplicities, tensions, and frictions created when place, human, and more-than human come together. This opens up places for early childhood pre-service teachers to think and act on different ways of knowing, being, and doing with the intent of engagement and relationality.
Matters of Concern
Drawing on Latour (2004), place in early childhood teacher education pays attention to “matters of concern” – a shift from “matters of fact” consistently implemented through quality dominant narratives previously described. Matters of concern think with relationality and the complexity of bringing together humans, place, and the more-than-human (flora, fauna, multispecies), rethinking how early childhood pedagogy is used and how this informs teacher education. In terms of early childhood teacher education, this repositions teacher educators to shift from a human-centered view of the planet to seeing place as central and living with our more-than-human kin. This calls for teacher educators and pre-service teachers to teach and act in radically new ways, in ways that situate place and the more-than-human as being in relation with teaching pedagogies.Coming Alongside
Karen Martin (2016) presents the idea of “coming alongside” as a way for non-Indigenous people to engage respectfully with Aboriginal worldviews. Part of this work is recognizing how relationships to people, places, and the more-than-human are central. In this sense, relationships take a long time to build and should not be rushed: sitting and listening with elders and walking with places and the more-than-human over long periods are necessary in order to build authentic, respectful connections. Relationships also require intention. For teacher educators and pre-service teachers, there are ethical and political accountabilities to foreground local, Indigenous worldviews in everyday teaching and learning practices. This recognizes place as being more than just a pretty backdrop for children to play in; rather, there are many layers of history that are always present in the places where we live and work. As part of the protocol of coming alongside, teacher educators and pre-service teachers are required to share their stories and connections to people and place.Common Worlds
A common world framework (www.commonworlds.net) centers on the ways in which children learn from the full range of human and more-than-human relations within their immediate and “common” or shared worlds. More-than-human refers to the animals, plants, multispecies, local places, and colonial pasts, presents, and futures – the systems where children grow, learn, and live. Practices underpinned by the common world framework focus on awareness and response to legacies of local places in order to rethink and create common futures.Place as a Pedagogical Contact Zone
Place as a pedagogical contact zone brings together the work in the Common Worlds Research Collective (www.commonworlds.net), with the “contact zone” as discussed by Haraway (2008) making visible how place is always an entanglement between the more-than-human and humans. Haraway (2008) specifically indicates how this contact zone brings together “diverse bodies and meanings[that] coshape one another … The partners do not precede the meeting; species of all kinds, living and not, are consequent on a subject and object-shaping dance of encounters” (p. 4). This creates the pedagogical contact zone as uncertain and unknown but also creates a space to support new ways of doing and assembling multiple knowledges. This is necessary in foregrounding and thinking with Indigenous worldviews, shifting away from the narrow view of the colonial gaze. Both place-thought (Watts 2013) and learning to be affected (Latour 2004) offer ways to practice place as pedagogical contact zones.Place-Thought
Place-thought is rooted in the Anishinaabe (First Nations people from southern Canada) worldview that “is based upon the premise that land is alive and thinking and that humans and non-humans derive agency through the extensions of these thoughts” (Watts 2013, p. 21). This frames the process of thinking about place in different ways and is focused on viewing the land as animate and with agency. Watts (2013) shares an Anishinaabe creation story to illustrate place-thought through the experience of Sky Woman: Sky Woman fell through a hole in the sky, landed on the back of a turtle, and formed the earth. This story for Watts (2013) is an historical account of the interconnections between humans and the more-than-human, describing “a theoretical understanding of the world via a physical embodiment” (p. 21). This moves past the view of a creation story as a myth or allegory and challenges the Euro-Western understanding of knowledge construction. With this foundational understanding, Watts (2013) further notes how land is part of the lives of Indigenous people, and this calls for a deep relationship with the land and the more-than-human requiring communication and care. Colonization of the land impacts the ability to converse with the land, disrupting the deep relationships and a critical part of the Anishinaabe people’s lives.Learning to Be Affected
Thinking with place means paying attention to the layers of inscription on a place. Using Latour’s (2004) concept of learning to be affected “means exactly that: the more you learn the more differences exist” (p. 213). For early childhood teacher education, this means empowering pre-service teachers to be open and awake to multiple and varied proposals and possibilities. For Latour, this is the action of moving past the binaries of subject/object and spending time with and in the numerous ways of seeing and being in the world. This is reiterated in the work of the common world framework, as it is through awareness of difference that curiosity about the places surrounding us is provoked (www.commonworlds.net). In terms of early childhood teacher education and place, learning to be affected is how teacher educators and pre-service teachers are offered the time and space to listen with the place, make visible what cannot be seen, trace the overlays of inscription, and begin to notice place in a way that rethinks teaching and learning in ethical and political ways.Early Childhood Teacher Education and Place: An Example in Australia
An undergraduate early childhood teacher education program at a public university in Australia focuses on place; in particular, place as a pedagogical contact zone. Place is the primary provocation for the classes in the program as content and experiences are focused on respectfully foregrounding Indigenous worldviews while completing placement in a community-based playgroup program for families and children (infant to 6-years-old). Coming alongside Indigenous worldviews of place (Martin 2016) is done by attuning to the place where the placement site is located as well as where the university is located. The settler-colonial gaze is disrupted by foregrounding the local Indigenous place, attending to the politics and ethics of living on stolen land. Teaching with complexity, addressing matters of concern, and practicing making-meaning support pre-service teachers in understanding what it means to live in postcolonial Australia. Central to the placement and coursework are pedagogies and opportunities to activate Latour’s (2004) notion of being affected and place-thought (Watts 2013) as ethical teaching practices. For example, at each of the playgroup sites, pre-service teachers respectfully foreground Indigenous worldviews in the learning experiences with children and families.Indigenous worldviews are the starting point for the class and placement content and are shared through Indigenous stories and materials (sourced from the local place where the program is situated). These experiences include the teachers, families, and children naming the country, animals, and materials where the setting is located. Further, the equivalent conceptual and pedagogical practices are the content in the university classes. This includes understanding the significance of place for the local Indigenous people through the use of place-thought walks, discussions, and making visible how coursework and placement contribute to decolonization and are not tokenistic. For instance, place-thought walks are part of the work for the university students and the children and families in the placement. The ritual of walking to and from the place is part of the practice while also discovering what calls each person into connection with the place. These are the moments that contribute to building a relationship with the place, a common and shared world that moves from thinking about a place to thinking with place. Through the content and experience in the classes and placement, pre-service teachers ethically engage with the local place and find ways to question assumptions and disrupt the Western-driven expectations and dominant narratives in early childhood teacher education.

I tried to crossdress, felt even more dysphoric because i am reminded of my small hips and wide shoulders, i constantly hate the feeling of my face, how its shaped and how my beard feels.
I am even so masculine in my thinking and behaviour and i feel like I can't escape that. I am just too stoic, logical and blunt to be a girl. I can't escape myself. But on the other side i see feminine woman and cringe at thier feminity, while desperately wanted to look as feminine as them.
I don't dislike my male body, like i think i look good for a guy, its just not the way i prefer it to be. I don't have dysmorphia, its about the way it makes me feel about my gender, rather then how it looks.

Background
Its been bad, i have in such a bad condition internally for few weeks, my physical health has been started to decline too, maybe its the MCD water, but its been bad in other ways too. I unwillingly finished my male puberty around the age of 16, hated it, felt like some part of me dead inside, always wanted to be a girl since the age of 3-4, supressed my identity my whole childhood, grow up very masculine, hated feminity because that was convenient even though i wanted to be fem. For the past one year i was fine, though i had mild dysphoria it wasn't as crushing as it is now. Last time this was as bad as now was my final stage of puberty with the growth of beard ended. That phase of crippling depression lasted almost a year. Then i accepted my true identity and started believing in essentialism of gender, ie. there is something deep down in me, something essential, that makes me a girl, so I don't need to change my gender and for the last year, i tried to integrate my feminine identity with my assigned gender. And i changed, i finally found myself and my mental health was better then its been in last 8 years (i am almost 19), i still wanted to change my gender but i didn't felt much of a urgency because my dysphoria wasn't so bad as it was.But then reality hit me when, my friends complementing-ly said they see me as thier elder bro figure, this struck me so bad, i just realised i was living in delusion, i thought i was being tomboyish and for the whole year, i saw myself as more feminine than i actually am, i was actually developing into a man and they obviously saw me as a positive masculine figure. And i am not flattered, just realised how delusional i was.
Now that i realised my masculine manliness, nothing feels good, nothing gives me euphoria, i would usually go into my fantasies to escape reality, but even that is not working. I tried to crossdress, felt even more dysphoric because i am reminded of my small hips and wide shoulders, i constantly hate the feeling of my face, how its shaped and how my beard feels.
I am even so masculine in my thinking and behaviour and i feel like I can't escape that. I am just too stoic, logical and blunt to be a girl. I can't escape myself. But on the other side i see feminine woman and cringe at thier feminity, while desperately wanted to look as feminine as them.
I don't dislike my male body, like i think i look good for a guy, its just not the way i prefer it to be. I don't have dysmorphia, its about the way it makes me feel about my gender, rather then how it looks.

(I've had this concept for a while and wrote a few versions for the first episode, settling on this version, I haven't wrote a lot so would love feedback on this, I want to execute this idea as well as I can)
Mythicals Ep1: The world's worst thief
Narrator: Welcome to the continent of Nova.A continent made up of seven separate islands with each one of having its own unique,biomes,climates,properties and laws.But this continent isn't perfect.40 years ago a strange race called mythicals appeared.They were similar to humans in every aspect except one.They had strange abilities called Zanes.With these Zanes,the power went to the mythical's head and they tried to take over the continent,starting a race war between the humans and mythicals.The humans won the war through sheer numbers.Mythical population dropped 75% and are now discriminated and oppressed by humans.
A young man is seen running along a white stone road.He had short,straight,black hair,wide red eyes and pale skin.He had a dirty grey trench coat,a black shirt with tears in it,black ripped jeans and grey boots.
Narrator: Meet Hiroshi Kita,an 18 year old,down on luck,mythical thief.
Hiroshi turns around and spots three people dressed in medieval knight armour chasing him.He smiled and continued running,soon running into an alleyway,the knights running in and cornering him.
Hiroshi: Come on guys,can't we talk this out?
The first knight draws a sword and slashes at Hiroshi.Hiroshi's chest becomes transparent as the sword goes through him.His chest turned back to normal as the sword left his chest.
Narrator: Hiroshi Kita,his Zane is called Umbra.It allows him to turn his body into a shadow form,the only issue is due to not having much mastery over this Zane,he can only transform one body part at a time.
Knight 1: He's a mythical!
The second knight took out a large axe
Knight 2: This will knock my mythical kill count to 15!
The second knight swung his axe down but Hiroshi quickly dodged backwards,the axe slams into the ground.Hiroshi smiled and jumped onto the axe handle.
Hiroshi: Thanks for the help fellas
Hiroshi jumped off the axe and onto the first knight's head,then the second one and then the third one before jumping towards a window sill.The third knight pulls out a revolver and quickly shoots at Hiroshi's head.Hiroshi turns his head into a shadow before climbing through the window,turning his head back to normal.The knights look up at the window sill,knowing they won't reach.They start leaving.
Knight 3: Who's gonna tell Akuhei?
The other two knights put the fingers on the helmet where their noses would be.
Knight 3: Come on guys,when did we start doing that?
Meanwhile Hiroshi made his way to a sewer cover in a dark alley.He smiled and lifted the cover up before climbing in and closing the cover.He walked through the sewers before reaching a metal door.In front of the door was a giant man.
Hiroshi: Hey,Duke,you gonna let me in?
Duke looked down at him and shook his head
Duke: Only the best thieves in the continent are allowed in here and as we all know,you've been ranked as the worst thief in the continent,so unless you can get a big score,you're not in so scram.
Hiroshi sighed and started walking away,leaving the sewer.
Hiroshi: Asami might know something about a big score,they have connections all over the continent.
Hiroshi ran off and soon entered an abandoned theatre outside the town.He looked around and saw someone on stage with short pink hair,pink eyes,a masculine body and peach skin.They were wearing a white tank top and black shorts.Hiroshi smiled and jumped on stage.
Hiroshi: Hey Asami!
Asami smiled and quickly hugged Hiroshi
Asami: Hold on a sec,you only come here when you want something,what do you want?
Hiroshi sighed,smiled and scratched the back of his head.Asami gained an annoyed expression as they crossed their arms.
Hiroshi: Ok,to be completely honest,I need to know about a big score.
Asami: How big?
Hiroshi: Big enough to get me into the largest thieves guild in the continent?
Asami: Going big aren't we?Well I can only think of one place nearby…
They walked past him,transforming into a femine figure as they did,their voice becoming more femine as well
Asami: Would be the nearby Mythical Hunter's Headquarters but you wouldn't be mad enough to do that,right?Right?
Hiroshi: Thanks Asami!
He quickly ran away
Asami: He's gonna get himself killed.
Hiroshi located the Mythical Hunter's Headquarters and climbed over the walls at nightfall but quickly went unconscious before he could get over the wall.He woke up in a dark room with someone standing in front of him.They were tall with shoulder length brown hair,narrow green eyes and light brown skin.They were wearing a black tank top and grey cargo pants.Hiroshi was bound by rope at his ankles and wrists.
Hiroshi: Who are you?
Daichi: Name's Daichi Gushiken and you're staying here while I go stop the Mythical Hunters.
Hiroshi: But why did you capture me?
Daichi: Can't have a lowly thief like you getting in my way.Some of these guys are strong enough to topple towns.
Hiroshi: Then why fight them,just run!
Daichi: Because if they aren't stopped,they'll try to topple the human government.
Hiroshi: Won't that…
Daichi stared down at Hiroshi as Hiroshi's eyes widened in shock.
Hiroshi: That will start another war!
Daichi: Exactly, and now you understand why I need to stop them.
Hiroshi: But how can you stop them alone, do you even have a Zane?!
Daichi: Nope, I'm just a regular human.
Hiroshi: How do you expect to win against people with Zanes that could take down entire towns if they wanted too!?
Daichi: Well, I've got methods.If humans won the war against the Mythicals, why can't I beat one?
Hiroshi: The humans won through numbers!Everyone knows that!Try them on me and see if you win!
Daichi shrugs and unties Hiroshi. Hiroshi stands up as the both of them put their fists up. Hiroshi throws the first punch, aiming for Daichi's head. Daichi slides to his left before kicking Hiroshi in the back of the knee, causing Hiroshi to fall onto one knee. He then elbows Hiroshi in the neck, knocking his opponent to the ground.
Daichi: What's your name, thief?
Hiroshi: H-Hiroshi Kita.
Daichi: Well Hiroshi Kita, listen to this message from Daichi Gushiken. Stay away from Mythical Hunters unless you want to get hurt,so leave the saving to everyone else.
Daichi leaves Hiroshi on the floor as he leaves the room. Hiroshi clenches his fists before slowly getting back up a few minutes later, wiping tears from his eyes as he ran out of the room. Meanwhile, Daichi had infiltrated the Mythical Hunters HQ. He was sneaking through hallways as he took out any knights in his path, soon reaching a large wooden door and pushing it open. On the other side of the door was a large man, muscular build with crimson hair,narrow eyes, peach skin, and sharp pointed teeth, wearing black tracksuit bottoms.
Daichi: You're dying, Akuhei Heru.
The man turns around and smiles.
Akuhei: Well if it isn't the famous fighting champ. Come to try and take down the strongest fist fighter in Nova?
Daichi: Not only will I try, I'll succeed.
Akuhei: You think ye worthless human body with ney a Zane can beat me perfect form with the fourth most powerful Zane in the World?!
Daichi quickly punches Akuhei in the gut, causing him to stumble backwards.
Daichi: Never underestimate the power and dedication of the human spirit.
Akuhei: Ye be training, this should be interesting!
Akuhei swings his arm at Daichi and sends him flying into a wall, cracking the wall and causing books to fall off a bookshelf. Daichi falls to the floor and before he can get back up, Akuhei grabs him by the neck and slams him against the wall again. He lifts him up higher with his right arm as he walks over to a desk. He goes to swing Daichi down on it but Daichi quickly pulls a knife out of his pocket and stabs Akuhei in the arm. Blood trickles down Akuhei's arm as he drops Daichi. Daichi lands on the desk and looks up. Akuhei goes to slam his left fist down on Daichi. He quickly rolls backwards off the desk as Akuhei slashes it in half. Daichi stands back up only to see a fist flying towards him.
He quickly ducks as the fist hits a set of steel armour behind him, the punch flattening the chest piece. Daichi quickly grabs the sword from the set of armour and goes to swing it at Akuhei's right arm. Akuhei rips the knife out of his right arm and swings it at the sword. As soon as the knife connects, both blades shatter. Daichi stumbles back as Akuhei just steps towards him and smiles. Akuhei lifts both fists up and swings down towards Daichi. Daichi rolls to his left as the fists hit the ground, cracking it. Daichi quickly rips a piece of wood off the desk and stabs it into Akuhei's left arm. He quickly grabs another piece of wood and stabs Akuhei in the back of the knee forcing him to fall down.
Daichi (in head): This is my chance to end him!
Daichi quickly runs and shoulder bashes into Akuhei, making him over and falls out of a window, shattering the glass. Daichi slowly gets up as blood trickles out of the side of his mouth. He turns to leave when suddenly a piece of glass flies into his leg, Daichi falls forward and onto the shattered desk, causing some pieces of stray wood to stab into his shoulder. Daichi yells out in pain before looking out the window and seeing Akuhei climb through.
Akuhei: Did ye really think that I wouldn't grab onto an edge?!
Akuhei limps towards Daichi as Daichi tries to desperately crawl away. Trying to grab onto anything to pull himself forward. Akuhei grabs his leg and a red glow emanates from his hand. Akuhei's injuries heal before blood spurts out from Daichi's arms and knee.
Narrator: Akuhei Heru.His Zane is called Contagin! If he manages to touch anyone he can transfer any injury,illness or ailment to the person he touches!
Akuhei: Ye really thought ye could beat me!?
Akuhei lifts Daichi by the leg and throwing him through the doors he came in. Daichi lands on the ground as blood trickles out of him.
Akuhei: Ye are as foolish as ye are weak!
Hiroshi: Back away!
Suddenly Hiroshi smashes through a window and kicks Akuhei in the head, causing him to stumble back against a wall, his nose begins to bleed as he smiles and glares at Hiroshi.
Akuhei: Perfect,yet another lamb for me to slaughter!
Daichi: Run you idiot!
Akuhei throws a punch at Hiroshi's head but Hiroshi quickly turns his head into a shadow and the punch goes through. Another punch connects with his stomach which sends him into the air. His back hits the ceiling before he starts falling towards the ground. Akuhei smiles and quickly punches Hiroshi mid air and sends him flying down the hallway. Hiroshi lands on the ground and tries to slowly stand up, he was coughing up blood.
Akuhei charges at Hiroshi and quickly kicks him in the gut. Hiroshi slams into the wall as the wall cracks. Akuhei grabs Hiroshi and throws him in the air before sending a barrage of punches at him before grabbing his leg and slamming him into the ground. Blood trickles out of Hiroshi's mouth as he coughs.
Glass shatters and Akuhei quickly turns around. He sees a hole in another window and Daichi laying there next to it. Akuhei charges towards Daichi but something suddenly wraps around his leg. He looks down and sees a rope with a kunai tied around his leg. He turns around and sees Hiroshi still on the ground while holding the rope. Akuhei smirks and quickly swings his leg forward. Sending Hiroshi flying and out of the window in the room Akuhei and Daichi were fighting in as the rope snaps.
Hiroshi(in head): Is that it? Is this where I die? Not even getting close to my dream? I don't want to die here but I can't do anything to save myself, I'm too hurt.
Tears swell up in Hiroshi's eyes as he falls towards the ground. His eyes close as he feels himself land in someones arms. He can feel himself be gently placed on the ground and his eyes open slightly. His vision is blurry but he can make out the shape of a woman looking over him.
Hiroshi: An angel?
Hiroshi passes out due to his injuries. Meanwhile Akuhei gets surrounded by vines which pin him to the ground. The faint sound of footsteps can be heard and the vines vanish. Akuhei stands up and looks around only to see Daichi is gone.

A trans woman is going to be the most approximate person there to manhood, so if you aren't performing feminity adequately for them you're going to get accused of male socialization.
Many trans men I speak with also feel misgendered in these spaces. Some of them that pass have been accused for being cis men, and they get forced to play up their AGAB or feminity to fit in.
