2023.05.31 16:27 zeekoes [WP]When the hunters came to town, and I knew they were looking for me. As my Masterâs anchor, I'm his link to the Old Gods. Kill me, and the Cult of Dastma ends. Which is exactly what I wanted. Lets face it, the Mortal Realm is *boring* and who wants to be stuck in the body of a cat?
It felt like it had taken several of my nine lives before I got those hunter brats to visit this boring remote village. The town that I called home and harbored the remnants of the ancient cult of Dastma. The goal of the cult was to summon the old gods, and my master â the head of the cult â had thus far only been able to summon me as his anchor. Now Iâve been stuck in this hairball-retching body of a cat for several decades and Iâm done with it.
As the two broad shouldered lads walked down main street I finally saw my opportunity to end this mortal shell and return home, where I belonged. I threw caution to the wind and sprinted as menacingly as I could muster towards my liberators.
âAww, whoâs a cute kitty cat,â said one of the men, putting his crossbow on the ground, using it as a support while he crouched to pet me.
Donât get me wrong, I love a good scratch, but this wasnât exactly what I was hoping for. I slashed my claws at his outstretched hand. Drawing blood as I ran towards the other big guy. He would get the message.
âSeems you scared him, Zeke,â laughed the man.
The other man stood up, slinging his weapon back over his shoulder and rubbed the angry red scratched on his hand.
âYouâve always been better with animal, Phil,â said the man called Zeke, while smiling.
If this body could sigh, I would. With all the power mustered in me I briefly opened the veil between this world and the place I called home. I couldnât use if to travel between the realms myself. One way street, but I could get some scary stuff from there, over here. The briefest of flashes had caught the attention of the two hunters. That meant they were vigilant and sharp, just what I needed. Towards them stalked two lanky creatures made of straw and twine. To a layman they would not look dissimilar to the scarecrows farmers used to scare away pesky crows.
âStay behind me little guy,â said the hunter Phil as he had the audacity to push me back.
Did they still not get that I was the thread and those measly minions were doing my bidding? Just leave it to humans to misjudge a situation, I guess.
The hunters made short work of the monsters. Hadnât expected less, as they were pretty much cannon fodder to the old gods back home. They strolled further in town and decided to try their luck at a local inn, which I knew had been abandoned for decades.
Inside they also became familiar with that knowledge, as all that greeted them were cobwebs and heaps of dust. I saw my opportunity as the walked over to the bar. I sprinted out before them and jumped via a stool onto the wooden counter. With utmost precision and care, I drew the words âKill meâ in the dust that had been collected over the years. If I had to spell it out for them, I would spell it out for them. Zeke was the first to notice it. He nudged Phil on his shoulder and gestured him to read the message. When Phil finally drew his crossbow, I was relieved beyond measure. It had taken some time, but I was finally going to be free of this forsaken place.
âDonât be silly little guy. I like cats and seems that youâre a special one,â he said, putting his crossbow on the counter top and sitting down to pet me.
I hated myself for leaning into his big hand scratching between my ears. I hated them more, for not setting me free.

2023.05.31 15:15 Responsible-Ad-6218 We live 4 houses down from one another đ
I was dumped almost 3 weeks ago. We were only together for 4-5 months, but it was such a special relationship. I had met her 10 years ago and we hooked up in a club bathroom. We didnât speak again after that but ran in similar circles, just never really around each other. When she moved in down the street, her roommate introduced us and it was immediate sparks. I had just gotten out of a really emotionally abusive relationship and wasnât looking for anything serious. That quickly changed because I felt like all signs were pointing to her being the one. It was my healthiest relationship and I felt my happiest & most confident.
She broke up with me for really valid reasons in my opinion. I had experienced a lot of loss this past year and grief really had its hold on me. I thought I was fine, but really wasnât showing up as the person I know myself to be. Looking back I donât blame her for ending things, Iâm disappointed in myself that I didnât recognize the pain I was in. It led to me love bombing, pushing boundaries, and having an insecure attachment.
Iâve learned so much from this breakup and have for the first time in my life poured my energy back into myself. Itâs only been 3 weeks NC, but like I said we live so close. She was hanging out with her ex this past weekend. It hurt to see but it would have hurt a lot more if I hadnât spent the past 3 weeks working on my own personal growth.
All of that said, what are your thoughts:
- I still have some of her things, what do you do during NC when you want to give them their things back and get your stuff back?
- Itâs hard to think we couldnât try again especially since weâre neighbors and run in the same circles. Do I leave it up to the universe to put us in front of each other when weâre both ready?
- More of a statement, but this is my first time going NC and I feel like it really does heal. Iâm proud of myself, Iâve surprised myself and my family/friends. This sub really has helped me.

2023.05.31 14:59 ya-boi-benny Respect Jervis Tetch, the Mad Hatter (DC Comics, Post Crisis)
You see, there's insanity, and then there's madness.
Jervis Tetch is a dandy madman. Taking inspiration from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, he puts on the guise of the Mad Hatter and commits crimes while doing so. Sometimes he wants to steal hats for his own purposes, other times he obsessively seeks out his Alice. When one looks past the sinister brim and giant buckteeth, a dark, tragic individual surfaces, but don't let that fool you. He'll still be crooning "Callooh! Callay!" as his vorpal blade goes snicker-snack through your neck.
Recommended reading: Secret Six (2006), Joker's Asylum II: Mad Hatter.
Key
Character Profiles
Note
While the appearances in Birds of Prey: Batgirl were due to Spellbinder manipulating Barbara Gordon to think she was in her glory days, these were likely feats Hatter is capable of, as she never disbelieved anything he did.

2023.05.31 14:54 Nannen94 [IWantOut] 29M Civil and Petroleumengineer Norway -> USA
I am a 28yo man with wife (27) (only engaged) and to sons (3 & 4). We live on the westcoast of Norway, but have always dreamed of trying out the life in USA ever since we met 8 years ago. My wife sees it as a cultural exchange for the family and especially the kids, i think more and more of it as a permanent move.
We are debating if it should be for 1 year or permanently, ive listed both cases below and information about education and economics further down.
First thing we need to find out is where do we settle down? As we are from the westcoast of Norway we need to be able to see the sea from our livingroom. If moving from Norway we want more stable weather, but dont mind temperatures around freezing point and white christmas, but prefer more than 2months with summer temperature and less than 6months around freezing point.
As im some kind entrepreneur by mindset and cant be still for long, and love having alot to juggle we prefer somewhere we will be able to buy rental properties, earning on houseflipping and devoloping properties for housing.
We want to live in a working-middelclass street/district as thats what we have been raised and settled in home in Norway. If you become rich here, you most likely just buy a property or plot near by and build a bigger and a little more fancy house as Norwegians normally have really decent housing in any economical class. We also want to learn our kids the value of hard work and to grow up with normal people.
Summary: Not pricey area with rich people as we dont want to waste our savings on looks and facade as we say in Norway.
1 Year: How is it to get work for both of us with the education and experience we have (described below), and same case for a visa. If my wife dosent want to be working to make sure the boys do well, will i be able to earn enough to support the family?
Permanently: I would prefer working in the oil-business but not sure how it works in the US. Do people work om rotation like 2-4 as we do in Norway, and how is the salary for someone with my background and education in that field of work? One opertunity for me would be to work in a Norwegian company offshore and live in the US but not sure how that will help out on our visa. Depending on job i would earn 1-300k a year with a Norwegian company working 2-4. My wife will most likely not work atleast not full time to take care of the house and kids, and help out on the rental and devolopment projects when im at work.
Education, occupation and economics:
My wife is a trained nurse (bachelordegree) with 6 years work experience after the degee both as nurse in home care and at the doctorâs office.
I just started (Oct.22) working as a scaffolder offshore on oil rigs as it gives a lot of time off with the 2 on -4 off (weeks) rotation. On my time of i am studying for petroleum engineering, running my own carpenter business, devoloping property/house projects and renovating our home and rental properties. (Short CV further down)
We have 2 houses that we rent out with a pretty decent profit, one property with the aim of devoloping new homes for sale and our own house that we live in.
1 Year: If my wife wins we will only rent out our house aswell and the devolopment property will either be done and sold or put on hold.
Permanently: If it becomes permanent i guess we still will keep the rental properties and sell off the other properties. Our house is about 760k (USD) and will give us 200-250k after repaying the mortgage. The devolpment will most likely gain us about 750k, giving us about 1mill USD to start with for housing and property acquistions.
My education and work experience:
2010-12 High school - Carpentry
2012-14 Carpentry apprentice I have the Norwegian certificate of apprenticeship as carpenter, that in Norway covers everything from framing to trims and everything in between exept plumbing, electrical and painting.
2014-17 University - Civil engineering (Bachelor)
2017-22 Civil engineer Been in many different roles and projects. Roles: Projectengineer, Plant-, Construction- and Projectmanager.
Projects: Everything from single houses to aparmentprojects with 150 apartments (420-2600sqft) and up to 15 stories. Also been managing some warehouse projects.
2023-24 University - Petroleum engineering (Bachelor) I have just finished my first semester (50 credits) on the petroleum engineering bachelor degree. As a normal bachelor degree in Norway consist of 180 credits over 3 years/6 semesters, i most likely will finish mine in 1 year (2 semesters) as i finished 50 first, have 35 i can count inn from Civil engineering and i will do 50+45 the next 2.
October 22: Started my own business doing carpentry/framing and small excavator works. Offering construction advising, engineering, drawing and controll. Also renting out excavator, trailers and other tools.
October 22: Property devolopment Bougth a property with a old house that we plan to tear down to rebuild to connected houses each 2-3000sqft and a complex og 4 apartments about 1000sqft each.

2023.05.31 11:15 hdisbsns Bay Area to Seattle
Decided to give my 2023 id.4 itâs real test for the Memorial Day weekend. Started in Silicon Valley and decided to charge at EA in San Ramon, 150kw chargers only went up to 38kw! Mind you I was at 60%, but wow!
Next stop was Anderson, Ca EA my Average at that point was 3.2kwh. Filled up to 100%, took 40 mins(150kw station). Itâs in a safeway parking lot so grabbed some essentials.
Before entering Oregon there is a rest stop, Randolph E. Collier, holy moly, this is the best rest stop in all CA! And the added plus was two FREE ChargePoint 68kwh chargers. So I topped off there obviously.
Next charge was the EA in Eugene, OR. 35 mins to top off at 100% with the 350kw super chargers. The EA is located in a Target lot, but that street is full of restaurants.
First EA charge in WA at a 350kw super charging station in Kelso. This was another quick 35 min charge (I removed prior to 30 mins and recharges to avoid fees and keep it free) NO ONE was charging here and the EA chargers are located in a fully operating mall, yes an operating mall in 2023, which took me back to the 90s.
Made it into Seattle with 50% left and only charged at Pike place during my stay which cost $3.00 along with parking fees.
Went to a Mariners game and they had charging ports outside their parking lot, but you had to pay for parking and then the charge, so it was an easy decision NOT to charge.
Charged at the Ballard Fred Meyer prior to leaving, no other cars, quick EA charge.
DO NOT CHARGE AT THE EA IN THE WOODBURN OUTLETS. 4 spots all taken up by Teslas not charging, no myself and a fellow ID.4 parked right behind them and were able to charge at 150kw until the Tesla owners showed up and got a mouthful, avoid this EA at all cost. It is literally two aisles from the entrance of the outlets instead of at the end of the parking lot, causing these EV drivers to park and not charge for close proximity to the shops.
Made a pit stop to eat in Eugene and went straight into Grants Pass with about 30 miles left, car advised to stop and charge for a couple of minutes at an inn before the incline, didnât need it, charged 2.00 for it.
Grants Pass EA 350 super chargers were quick, done in 35 mins. Lots of homeless in the Walmart area but a great Mexican taqueria (Los taquitos) in the lot next door (6 tacos and 2 drinks for under $25!)
Made it back to Anderson for a charge, had to wait but landed the 350kw charger and was out in 34 mins.
Made a stop in Dunniganâs EA located in a Americaâs bear value inn. They had a 350 supercharger but left that for someone who needed the quick charge. Only reason I stopped here was to have over 100 miles left when I ultimately got home.
All in all I spent $5.00 on charging for the entire trip. EA has tons of locations throughout I-5. Had no issue with down stations which I sometimes have with my local stations. But all in all, would make the drive.
Hoped this helped for those thinking about trekking up to the Pacific Northwest. Side note, we almost made the drive into Vancouver BC, but decided not to, but a charge in Bellingham (last EA prior to the Canadian border) wouldâve gotten me into Vancouver and back without having to pay for a charge BC.

2023.05.31 09:47 CitrusCosmos In Depth - My Top 10 Death Grips
Hello Death Grippers,
You may remember me as that one person who did an in depth album ranking and also a post outlining my top 20 tracks 2-3 months ago. Those posts have since been deleted because my opinions have changed. Anyway, I have been listening to DG for a while longer now, and after letting all the music simmer in I am going to be posting my 10 favorite songs from their discography instead of doing some convoluted, bullshit album ranking post like Iâve done before lmao.
Just a warning that my opinion will not be yours and there are some very popular and great songs Iâll be leaving out of the list. I've been meaning to make this post for a while but I really wanted to take my time and digest my opinions and feelings.
First, Iâll start off with some honorable mentions:
Spikes â This was probably my second/third favorite last time around, its still as much as an awesome banger as it was. Itâs simply very accessible albeit lacking some depth.
Hacker â Crazy how this is off the top 10 now, itâs the quintessential Death Grips song and its simply perfect. Thereâs nothing I can say here that adds on to the widespread praise, but personally I just like some other songs more nowadays.
Anne Bonny â Absolute banger. Love the alternation between the smooth ear-candy synths and grinding dirty ones. Rideâs second verse here with absolutely unhinged vocal delivery is one of my favorite.
Eh â Not usually one of their standout songs, but I love Rideâs deadpan delivery over this hypnotizing, bubbling beat that rises and sinks with the bleak and nihilistic lyrics contrasting the chill, laid back beat. âCatch me hanging from my noose like ehâ is one of the standout lyrics.
Death Grips is Online â Insane song, 90s crackhead rave type beat that starts off crystal clear but quickly devolves into warped psychedelic nonsense with bar after bar of some NOTM level cryptic lyrics. Definitely a favorite.
#10 â Lost Boys
My #10 pick is going to be Lost Boys, itâs a song thatâs grown on me slowly over the immediately catchy more accessible songs on TMS like Iâve Seen Footage or Hustle Bones. Thematically, I really like this song as it gives us some much needed context for the Death Grips motif. Why their music is so unhinged and angry. âItâs such a long way downâ followed by the âlost boy, lost boy, lost boyâŠâ chant is a bleak chorus that speaks how there is no limit to how far a person can painfully descend into the marginalized of society. I love how this motif is spoken on top of this metallic scraping factory type beat. It really emphasizes how the aforementioned Lost Boys are just barely clinging onto life as theyâve lost their sanity completely. The vocal delivery may seem slurred and incohesive, but I love this artistic choice as it really adds to the warped acidic feel of the song.
#9 - Klink
Perhaps their most political song, this is Death Gripâs rendition of a âfuck the policeâ anthem that every rapper seems to have in their catalogue. The Black Flag sample slowed down and stretched over literal screaming makes for this aggressive political middle finger that becomes increasingly more unhinged and violent. At verse two, Ride even threatens to put the cops âsix feet deep below the streetâ so they âcanât never say shit againâ. The repeating motif here is Ride painting the cops as ignorant and violent pigs who are just out here to fuck you over from your business, to stop you from doing what it takes to survive. Itâs difficult to tell if the narrator here is the overly drug-addled, sex-craving, hyperviolent protagonist of Exmilitary and the Money Store or the real person of MC Ride whoâs clawed out the underbelly of Sacramento. Either way, from the beginning disc switch intro to the 80s radio sounding outro, this is one of my all time favorites. For best results, bundle this up with the Cutthroat instrumental.
#8 - Come Up and Get Me
I previously rated this song very highly and I still love it. I love the primal animistic energy from Rideâs vocals and the general claustrophobic sense of panic in the narrative. Itâs one of my favorite lyrically with standout lines like âStreet or nosedive to the next life in seconds and suicide ainât my stallion so Iâm surroundedâ. This song is frantically uncomfortable verse after verse of suicide ideation, with the protagonist so trapped and afraid he imagines himself âoff the planetâ hopefully ascending into an astral plane where he can find some semblance of peace. However, the conflict lies in that the central character is not willing to ride into the sunset killing himself as a coward as âsuicide aint my stallionâ. Itâs one of their most schizophrenic songs that definitely stand out on NLDW. The context of this song is also further extended given how Death Grips stashed out at the Chateau Marmont to record NLDW, trapped in luxurious celebrity norms that fueled the anxiousness for this track.
#7 â Blackjack
I love the heavy violent instrumentals on this beat, and that female cybernetic voice âBLACKJACKâ gives me chills every time. The narrative here of the protagonistâs criminal life being a game of blackjack is my favorite on TMS. The central character destroys lives with drugs and violence on a whim, but heâs so drawn to this life like a gambling addiction. He also doesnât know when heâll âbustâ and lose it all like a game of Blackjack, but that thrill keeps him going as he loses any sense of remorse he has. This sense of anxiety remains present, but the protagonist remains ever bragging being so dominant in the game of âblackjackâ he feels almost untouchable, but the music comes off demonic and evil as if this central character is no longer human with that warped voice filter again even more twisted this time around than it was on Lost Boys. This track reflects a monster the protagonist has become, and its reverbing earthshaking beat only adds to that level of menace. My favorite on TMS as of now.
#6 - Centuries of Damn
This is one of those songs that don't feel so Death Grips, but I love it so much. In a slow tropical-esque guitar tune, Ride contemplates centuries of existential dread for mankind. He even says "fuck the sun.. daylight sucks", blaming the sun for sustaining human life and shunning how shallow the world is and how little we've accomplished. There's not much to say about this song other than how I just love how everything comes together. It's often overlooked compared to other songs in Jenny Death but this ones just amazing no doubt. This song is also a step back for the MC Ride character, reflecting how he's stuck in this cycle of suffering from the violence, drugs and everything - and if he were immortal he would suffer for centuries unable to break the chain. I am a huge fan of songs that sound relaxing, peaceful or happy - but have the most bleak and hopeless lyrics.
#5 â Billy Not Really
Last time, this song barely missed the top 10. Now itâs all the way up here. The cryptic Billy Not Really is simply addicting with how near spiritual it sounds. It forgoes the usual grindy abrasive Death Grips sounds and replaces it with something almost cosmic-like, alien and otherworldly. It comes off jittery and glitched, but never scraping in sound. This track feels like a nautical journey through insights not meant for our mortal minds, as we realize the dissatisfaction of our existence. Its sound never fails to draw you in with verse after verse of what feels like a spiritual departure. Case in point, I canât really describe properly why this is so far up the list for me, but itâs certainly not a surprise.
#4 â Artificial Death in the West
From this point on, any song is basically interchangeable. These are all what I would consider peak Death Grips. They are not only great songs but transcend past the rest of their discography. This to me is simply one of the best songs in their catalogue, its refreshingly different and almost sounds peaceful, but there remains a hanging spirit of melancholy and danger to it with Rideâs vocals almost sounding like a dark warning. This song feels post-apocalyptic with civilization that once was buried in sand dunes, it feels boundless in sound but also feels numbing as if technology has dehumanized us despite the overly sexual lyrics at times here. The synths in this song and the overall atmosphere this song creates is immaculate and it makes it in my top five for this reason. This to me is so masterful because it paints a bleak tune of how technology replaces our human fundamentals with sex being replaced with porn and any semblance of social interaction being snuffed out by the boundless endless entertainment on the internet as if it were a sea of sand.
#3 â On GP
You all saw this coming, On GP is just commonly agreed to be one of their masterpieces. Jenny Death is not one of my favorite albums nowadays, but this track is absolutely peak. The shimmering guitar riffs contrasting these morbid suicide ideations are something that not many artists can accomplish without sounding needlessly edgy or too derivative. The outro âAll the nights I don't die for you. Wouldn't believe how many nights I ain't died for youâ is my favorite lyric in the song. Ride is basically saying how he would have taken his life On GP (general principle) if not for loved ones. Itâs so hopelessly bleak but also sorely relatable for someone like myself whoâs also had mental health struggles. For an artist whoâs constantly wrapped around some kind of exaggerated or muddled character, this song just feels like a cumulation and finale to their story a triumph to close out a chapter and turn the page where this honest and crystal clear version of Ride will never be seen again. This song encapsulates the pain and struggle, but also the sparkling small moments of hope we hold as humans with ups and downs in life. The masterful songwriting backed with soul-rending power chords do this song justice.
#2 â Beware
Demonic, poetic and menacing, Beware is simply something else. I was initially not a fan of the Charles Manson sample as it felt needlessly long, but its place in the narration of this song is much needed. The central character of this song transforms into something monstrous and inhuman as we progress from verse after verse of poetic imagery in lines such as âcold blood night of serpentâs breathâ and âthe spiral storm of flames inside the torch I raise the force I rideâ. The vivid imagery of this song on a looped dark guitar beat make it impossible to not paint these world-ending horrifying images in your head as the song plays.
âHarsh winds flay mine flesh to bone In splintered skeleton I roam Wastelands with naught to call my own But the path I walk alone The hunger burns within my gut As my bones turn into dustâ
This little segment is my favorite on the entire song, as it just presents itself so grotesque and disturbing but utterly beautiful at the same time. There is so much to unpack here with its Biblical references and constant theme of witchcraft and dark sorcery. But above all else, this is so fitting for Death Grips to put themselves on the map and establish they are a force to be reckoned with. While many of their songs involve loss of humanity and transition into something truly evil, none of them come off as colorful and evocative as Beware.
#1 â Up My Sleeves
Yup, my favorite DG track is up my sleeves up my sleeves up my sleeves up my sleeves up my sleeves up my sleeves up my sleeves up my sleeves. The opening sample âDoors and windows on, motions onâ just perfectly opens up the anxiety riddled journey weâre about to take. Weâre then greeted by this crawling unsettling chant that doesnât get any easier to digest. The beat utilizes these insanely demented Bjork samples coming off super abrasive, feeding into a sense of shattered clarity. Thereâs many moments in this song worth diving into but ones that stands out is Ride stating his obituary will be blank at Broadway cemetery as a comparison to the unmarked graves of evil men, âmy terracotta army disarms me, disowns meâ. Thereâs also this moment that goes âMy dead mother in my dream⊠blew her ashes off my jeansâ â which is such a powerful statement of Ride losing his last memories of the only one he has loved. All in all, thereâs so many cryptic but addicting moments in this track, painting how illogical the human mind can be while being so paranoid and subject to corruption. The instrumentation on this track is fucking insane too, it feels claustrophobic like in NLDW except this time its more beautiful but at the same time so much more utterly horrifying. The song name âUp My Sleevesâ is true to the motif of this song as it shifts between themes of materialism, death or existential dread. This song is my favorite because of how unconventional it is, refusing to fall into any ordinary song structure â and like a magicianâs secret trick you never know the meaning of this song or how it came to be.
Wow holy shit that was a lot of typing. If you somehow stuck with me all the way to the end thank you, I bless you with 10 years of good luck and a Steroids hoodie will appear on your bedside tomorrow morning.
I am going to go to sleep now lmfao its 2am and I have class tomorrow morning but let me know your thoughts on my top 10 list. Let me know what other songs you love and why :))

ARCA - Darrell Basham loses car parts in tornado: Good news finally came from the small southern Indiana town of Henryville, Indiana. The massive tornado that took direct aim on the downtown area today spared the life of longtime ARCA competitor Darrell Basham and his family. However, much of what Basham didn't lose in a devastating garage/shop fire in November of 2010, was lost today in downtown Henryville. "My old building, which was my main big shop - it's gone, with everything in it. And we had a bunch of stuff in it that we use to go racing. We walked through earlier. There were headers over here, a piece of racecar over there. Lost all my parts. Maybe someone's trying to tell me something; I just don't know. This could be the end of the line for Darrell Basham Racing; we just don't know. We're okay though, but what a mess. "We had a bunch of motor parts; it's all gone. General parts we use all the time - headers, rims. A-frames, trailing arms. Destroyed everything I had down there - it's all gone. Fortunately I had my cars at the house shop, which the tornado missed. (ARCARacing.com) (03-02-12)
- ARCA bans driver cell phone use during competition: The ARCA Racing Series has banned drivers from using cell phones during competition. A bulletin was sent out to teams yesterday stating that "Cars and/or drivers will not be permitted to carry cell phones during competition." This rule has been established after Brad Keselowski's cell phone use during a red flag in NASCAR Sprint Cup's Daytona 500. (03-06-12)
- DnF Enterprises owner Mario Gosselin arrested: A race car driver and owner of the Lake Wales-based DnF Enterprises [that fielded a car for Fain Skinner in the 2012 Mobil 1 200 at Daytona] was among those arrested last week during a sex sting, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said. Mario Gosselin, 40, of Lake Wales, was arrested Saturday and charged with soliciting prostitution, deputies said. The Sheriff's Office conducted a sex sting and said Gosselin was among more than 40 people who responded to online advertisements for sex. Once the people met with undercover detectives, they were arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail. Gosselin told deputies he was a self-employed mechanic. Gosselin bonded out of the Polk County Jail on $500 bail, according to jail records. (TheLedger.com) (03-14-12)

- Trucks to Road America in 2013? Montreal also hoping to be in the mix: NASCAR is expected to announce soon that the Camping World Truck Series will return to road-course racing in the 2013 season and that is great news for Canadaâs Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. A source close to Camping World loop told the Toronto Sun that negotiations are all but complete to add a race at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., for next season. That same source also said NASCAR would most certainly add a second road course so that it would make economic sense for the truck teams. âTeams would have to construct purpose built trucks for Road America so to keep those costs in line a second race just makes sense.â A truck race at CTMSâformerly Mosportâwould be a prefect fit for the trackâs new owners. Ron Fellowsâand his partners Alan Boughton and Carlo Fidaniâhave been actively pursuing a top NASCAR touring series race. âI was on the phone June 1 (the day the group announced it had purchased the legendary Ontario track) with NASCAR officials telling them we wanted a race,â Fellows said in a phone interview from Toronto. âAnd we are continuing to seek a race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.â It will be at least mid to late summer before NASCAR bosses release their 2013 schedules but it is now a good bet that there will be two truck races turning left and right next season. Fellows said that the addition of Montrealâa major NASCAR partnerâas the name sponsor at CTMS will boost the track chances at getting the nod for a race.(TorontoSun.com)(3-11-2012)
- NPTS drivers meeting to be open to fans at North Wilkesboro: In addition to 200 laps of great racing, your ticket to the Farmer's Insurance 200 will also get you up close and personal with your favorite NASCAR Philips Truck Series drivers. NASCAR and North Wilkesboro are opening up the NPTS drivers meeting for fans to come watch. The meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. April 15 in the garage at the speedway. Fans are asked to enter the infield through the tunnel in turn four if they wish to take part in the drivers meeting. A ticket to the race serves as admission. âThis event is going to be as fan-friendly as it can be,â Hillenburg said. âLeading up to the Famer's Insurance 200, the speedway has had an outpouring of support from fans from all over the country and we want to make sure that we do everything we can to repay that support. âWith a great three days of racing (April 13-15), Little Texas and Chris Lane Band (April 14) and ThunderFest (April 13), these new bonuses for ticket holders are going to make this an even more awesome event for our fans.(North Wilkesboro PR)(3-15-2012)
