Our 10 year old daughter has close friends, does well in school, reads at a high level, does a variety of social activities and is capable of many things (art, music). But, she is increasingly angry, and has a tough time regulating this. It’s to the point where she’s the main focus of our day. We think it’s sensory issues related to food aversions (and resulting hunger) and possibly early puberty. (Due to breast development).
We’ve had her see a therapist a few times to explore an issue she has with extreme food aversions. The therapist thought that we should find a specialist to help with the food / sensory issues. That’s the main thing that seems unique about her. We’re trying, but having no luck finding that specialist yet. The pro didn’t think that she had add/adhd, or autism or anything like that. We explored a lot if possibilities for her behavior. Having said that, she tends to behave around people outside of her close family. We are returning in a few weeks, for a follow up: My daughter has grown oppositional to her parents. She is very sarcastic, and mocks us verbally. She often does this instead of listening, in order to get a rise out of us. She gets really caught up with a tantrum, before she calms down.
The best way that we’ve found to deal with this behavior is to just let the harsh part “burn out” and then be calm and talk with her. Because nothing else seems to have a positive result. If we tell her that her actions are bad, then she gets more frustrated, and takes it personally. So, we do pretty much what we’ve read in parenting books: stay calm as possible. Giving her attention helps the most. But, her tantrums are excessive and really west us out. It’s almost as if she has an insatiable thirst for attention. She’ll hurt her sibling and cause screaming in order to get it.
Since her psych visits — which she resisted and strongly disliked, but gradually got more accustomed to — she’s grown more angry. She gets out of control in the car, and hits her sibling. This is one of the worst aspects to us of her behavior. We do activities like biking and climbing, canoeing, geocaching, and she enjoys them. But, afterwards she is an irritable mess emotionally.
I just need some support from parents who’ve been in my shoes. She’s our first, and our younger daughter is much less emotionally overloaded towards us, and her. Our 10 year old takes a lot of emotional energy from us. Often stalls to stay up late. Nights are the worst.
Technology use: We don’t let her play video games for more than 30-60 min per day, and we take it away for a few days/ a week if she gets in a bad state. That helps. Video games often (but, not always) make her attitude worse. And, she loves them dearly. No internet access at all. Just an iPad, and restricted only for Procreate drawing.
The positive thing that helps me: I think that she’s young, and that now — with our support system that we have (friends, school, family) — I’m hoping that we can help her develop emotionally before she gets to middle/high school. That’s my way of staying upbeat about it. Better if I can help her sooner.

Demolition Doofus

• Spongebob drags Ms. Puff to start his boating exam. Along the way, he bumps into Flats the Flounder and he gets pissed off.
• Obviously, Spongebob fails but Ms. Puff gets injured forcing to close the boating school for a while. She then laments how Spongebob is hopeless and believes that she might not be capable like she was back then although she says the last part with reluctance.
• Then, Flats tricks Spongebob into the Demolition Derby where he plans to run over Spongebob multiple times.
• However, Ms. Puff watches the Derby by random and immediately rushes to save Spongebob. Ms Puff completely chastises everyone for liking the Derby. Of course, Flats intervenes, even preparing to run over Ms. Puff as well for daring to try and save the sponge.
• Then, Ms. Puff gets so angry and that she takes over a car, yelling to everyone that there's a reason why she fled her old town. It's revealed that Ms. Puff bears a lot of road rage and she notoriously pulverizes cars that got in her way.
• Immediately, Ms. Puff beats the crap out of Flats and wins. Ms. Puff then takes Flats back to boating school to teach him proper etiquette and anger management. Spongebob gets taken too because he made a joke about having a job at the Derby.

Plane to Sea

• Squidward returns home after another boring day at work. Then, he gets surprised by Spongebob and Patrick who reveals that they got him a 2-week break at a famous resort. Squidward punches them with boxing gloves when they surprised him and then, punches them again when they reveal they are also going there too.
• However, it's when Squidward learns that the travel is via a Sea Plane (Underwater version of Airplane) that he completely freaks out to the surprise of Sponge and Pat. Still, they brought him to the plane.
• While on the plane, Squidward starts seeing from the window a Gremlin latching onto the plane's wing. He warns Spongebob and Patrick about the Gremlin but they laugh him off, not because they don't believe in Gremlins but learnt that Gremlins only target airplanes.
• Squidward reveals when he was young, he got onto a Seaplane and encountered a Gremlin. It traumatized him so much that he had to take years of therapy.
• After a few non-sense, Spongebob and Patrick realizes Squidward is right and the three work together to stop the Gremlin. Unfortunately, it turns out that there is more than one Gremlin.
• Via Flashback, it's revealed the Gremlins were wrecking shit on WWII planes until they all crashed land into the sea where they had since then, sabotaged seaplanes. The leader is actually the same Gremlin that traumatized Squidward.
• A battle ensues. Patrick stuffs some Gremlins into a trash can and flush them into a toilet. There's a joke where Squidward tells Spongebob to take the wheel, when in reality Squidward is referring to to the landing gear because the Gremlins sabotaged it and Spongebob needs to use himself to replace it. The Gremlins jumped out of the plane after the battle is over.
• The episode ends with Squidward, Spongebob and Patrick about to be arrested for ruining the Seaplane until the lead Gremlin drops down to where everyone are. The Gremlin gets arrested but Spongebob, Squidward and Patrick are awaiting for him at the back of the police van. The three are free from all charges but they stayed just to help Squidward settle his trauma by beating up the Gremlin up.

Part of my childhood trauma was rooted in evangelical Christianity. It was believing I was going to hell if I stopped believing in Jesus. That God will abandon you and throw your soul into eternal fire, if you mess up, was firmly pressed into my mind.
My church growing up also got a bit anti-Islam following 9/11. But this I mean I was subjected to nonstop rants about the supposed evils of Islam that I know now to be entirely false. In fact almost nothing about what Evangelicals want politically is any different from the "sharia law" that became their Boogeyman.
I was in a play at age 12, where my character is a little girl who dies with her mother in a car accident. The mother was someone who went to church regularly and was a good person, but she didn't really believe. So when they die, she's separated from her child (me) and dragged to hell by Satan. Little girl goes to heaven and meets Jesus.
Anyway I was severely traumatized by acting in this play. I had nightmares about the guy playing Satan. During this time I wasn't eating or sleeping well and became terrified of the "End Times" and became briefly obsessed with finding signs of them everywhere. So basically they infect entire populations with a kind of mass schizophrenia. You start being suspicious of little things like song lyrics. And I remember being TERRIFIED of the number 666.
I also remember reading a book, which I didn't believe in even then, but my grandma did, but it explained that evolution wasn't real and that dinosaur fossils were made by Satan to deceive people 🤦‍♀️. Even then, as a kid, I remember thinking that must be ridiculous.
Anyway so with experiences like that and more I won't even get into here, I think it's fair to say I was religiously traumatized.
So why is it that I can't block religious and specifically Christian ads? I can't enjoy any site if I'm just going keep being pestered by them. And I know I could use ad blockers but that is not the point. The point is, Reddit should have policy in place that lets trauma survivors block traumatic ad content and that's not one of the options to select so I always choose "offensive" but that seems so belittling to me...
I'm not offended I'm traumatized.

Hi, I recently bought a new Model 3 Performance and I enjoy the car a lot. One thing that I am missing is real park assist.
The camera based system is really not helping and I end up parking using rear camera and a bit of luck. I had a 2006 Mazda with USS and that car was way easier to park.
Is there a way to install third party USS?

This isn’t a post about how boring these games are, the fact there’s a small market team, or how there’s no real superstar in these Finals. I think this has a been a really great finals. If I didn’t know the NBA scheduling pattern by now, and was simply a casually viewer, I’d have no idea when the games are. I’ve heard from so many people that they didn’t even know Game 2 was last Sunday because they were use to the pattern of a game being every other night and there hasn’t been a flood of advertisements regarding when the games are going on. I don’t know if there’s a metric but, it feels like there is less promotion of this finals compared to last years.
The presentation has been abysmal, and that might be more on ESPN/ABC. As we know, ESPN has abandoned the classic NBA Finals intro that use to air from 2009-2013 showcasing NBA Finals of the past. ABC also decided to not showcase starting lineups and not have presentations around the stars so the casual viewer can get familiar with the who they’re watching. This may seem inconsequential since we know who Jimmy Butler and Nikola Jokic are, but, again, the casual viewer has most likely seen 7 Nuggets games at the max and Miami had few nationally televised games.
I remember watching the 2010 Finals and seeing backstage interviews presented during the game with Paul Pierce talking about being a Laker fan and how much being in this rivalry means to him. Michael Jordan talking about what a long season it’s been and how a championship would feel so rewarding. I get it Jokic doesn’t like interviews, but we can’t even get that with Jamal Murray.
The announcing has been putrid but that’s been covered on this Reddit all week. Just feels like the NBA is doing a disservice, especially for a series featuring the best player in the league.

On the 8th and 9th of June 2013 aka, The Queen's Birthday long weekend. Triple J held another all time Hottest 100 celebrating the music that came out between 1993 and 2012. The years that the Hottest 100 was running it's yearly countdown. What came of it was an incredible stretch of iconic banger after iconic banger spread across two days. 100-51 on Saturday and 50-1 on Sunday. It even gave voters a redemptive moment in finally giving tracks like Naive,Hallejulah, Banquet, Around The World and Sweet Disposition the countdown placements they deserved but never got in their respective years.

What memories to associate with this countdown. I remember I was a couple of weeks out from my trial HSC exams and I was half studying but couldn't really pay attention due to how good the countdown was.

I am on H4 visa and working. I have joint mortgage with my husband with me being primary applicant. When we initially applied for mortgage my husband accepted to share the EMI since my salary is not enough to cover the entire mortgage. I do have auto loan( I pay the EMi but he uses the car) ,health insurance expenses for family(from my employer), kids expenses and my expenses to take care of. My husband is at a phase where he does not want to contribute to additional EMi burden that we have.He has stopped talking/ responding to us. What are my options? I am spending my whole salary on expenses and have zero saving and taking care of kids needs.While my husband earns almost double yet he is not even ready to share even 50 percent of expenses. He says he pays for grocery and utilities which to me is way less than the mortgage and expenses.He still says I don’t contribute enough and goes on verbal abuse. He also says just because I earn less that should not be reason to not take up all these expenses. I even have taken out money from brokerage account to meet the expenses.Let me know what can I do in this situation?

My dad bought a yeti 1250 about 3 years ago. He passed a bit over a year ago. I am not the owner of the yeti, my step mom is but she lets us use it. Last year when I went to use it, it died within minutes on the campout. I couldn't find a wall charger anywhere in the accessories bag he'd kept and we don't know where the solar panels are. I gave the yeti back to step mom but she wasn't home when we dropped it off and I forgot about it.
Fast forward to this year and I need it again for a campout. Battery is dead. We bought a new wall charger (off brand on Amazon but claims it supports it provides 90 watts if my math is correct. 20v at 4.5 amp) but it just turns on a green LED, turns the screen on for a couple seconds and shows there's no input, output, and 0% battery, then turns off. It does that over and over. There's enough juice to power on the device and see the screen and it shows that the battery is dead but not bad. Not sure if we got a bad charger or something else. I decided to reset it by popping the top off and disconnecting the cables. I'm curious; if I can't get it to charge with the wall charger, can I use a car battery charger to charge it by clamping onto the posts (without the cables connected obviously)? My next best guess was to drag it into batteries plus and have them test the battery and the charger we bought.
Also, I noticed on back a heavy duty, wide grey plug. I thought we had this plug last year but couldn't find it this year. I think it lets us charge via car battery through it but I couldn't find the part online. Anyone know if there's a wall charger for that? Or a battery charger?

Title is self explanatory, I’m currently doing a 25 tile city on the PS5 with CS remastered, I was having fun building my city, but then I got to a population of 425,000 when everything went left. I first started seeing it with my cargo trains, where most of the time the assets wouldn’t even load fully, I’d see a cargo train with a lead engine and then maybe 1-4 cargo cars, then I started seeing it with my mass transportation trains, my commuter trains wouldn’t load fully, instead of having the usual 400 passengers, I was getting commuter trains that would hold only 300 people along with the train not fully loading, which was odd, then I also saw the same thing with my metro system where my high capacity trains wouldn’t fully load and would only hold 300/400 people, it was very confusing. Then it started getting even more odd, my police stopped spawning, my bustling large train stations that would transport 3000+ citizens a week was barely hitting 1000, my city used to be very lively, now it feels like a 400,000+ population ghost town, I’ve put some serious time into it so I won’t be deleting it anytime soon.
I was thinking maybe why the city went into a ghost mode is because the city was getting too large and the game automatically went into removing some assets to save data, but even that’s not the case, the city only uses up 29 MB of space within the game, so now I’m just sitting confused, am i the only person that’s gone through this? Is there a way to make my city feel more lively again? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Just saw an ad for MTA on FB, suggesting that you can save fuel using cruise control.
It immediately stood out and I was like ‘wroonnnnggg, you amateurs’ but a quick google was showing a heap of sources saying yep it saves fuel.
Yet… my lived experience is the opposite? My cas are so desperate to keep to the set speed that on a tiny incline it goes ‘MORE POWER!’ drops a gear and takes a good drink. Compared to non-cc, where I might lose a few km/h and smoothly coast over whatever hill/crest, then pick it up again on the way down? And on flats, shit it’s not at all hard to keep constant speed.
I know my sample size is one, but it’s not even close - cruise control uses a heap more fuel in my car. Am I alone in this? I’m interested to hear your experience. Happy to stand ‘corrected’ despite my results?

My little mishap at the chemical factory was just a tad worse than the press release indicated. Truth is, I was reduced to a mass of burned, scarred flesh. I asked this in car but I wanna ask here as well but basically wanna get a Integra but idk to awfully much about the engine yet but I think the engine in my 99 Toyota Avalon is really good but the look of the car is bland so basically long story short will a 99 Avalon engine work in a dc2 Integra or if that is even a good idea.

I'm from a small European country. I use a local insurance firm for my house and small business. Most people in my country now choose multinational firms but I think it is a little more personal, my agent is my neighbor, he helps us out with rates that are more favorable and such. Last year, I went on a month-long holiday to the US with friends to hike. Normally I don't bother with travel insurance, but for such a long trip, I decided to purchase it. It was actually very expensive to buy through the large companies so I asked my agent if he could write me a travel insurance policy, he agreed.
This turned out to be a right decision, just a week into the trip, I was involved in a severe car accident. I had to be airlifted to hospital and needed multiple surgeries for fractures, the removal of my spleen and part of my colon. In total I spent over a month in ICU and also needed extensive physiotherapy in hospital to become well enough to travel home, and yet more physiotherapy when I actually got home.
Months later, I got a bill in the mail of over $1 million for my surgeries and hospital stay. I was shocked but contacted the insurance company to file a claim. Almost immediately after I contacted them my agent called me and pleaded me to not file. He said the company could not afford to pay it out and that it was a mistake because they did not frequently write travel insurance they wrote my policy too broad so they would be obligated to cover my whole bill. This annoyed me a little bit--of course I was expecting it to cover my whole bill, what is the point of buying insurance that does not cover the bill! He attempted to persuade me to simply ignore the bill and most likely the hospital could not come after me here, he said if I filed the claim the bill would still not get paid but the only difference is that all their other clients would also get screwed because the company would have to declare bankruptcy.
After thinking I still decided to file my claim because it did not feel right to me to screw over the hospital and the doctors who took good care of me and I did not want to become persona non grata in the US, and I thought surely a company with probably thousands of clients has a contingency for this. However shortly after the company actually announced bankruptcy, it even became a minor news story in my country. My country has protective laws so that clients can still get their claims paid, but they have to make an application to the government which could take months. A friend of mine was nearly done processing a claim for his house that burned, now he is back to square one, and he can only get 1/4 of what he was supposed to get because the government caps the maximum coverage. In addition all the employees of the insurance company are now on leave and most of them are probably losing their jobs. Everyone who had their insurance are now in limbo and scrambling to get new policies. And of course the amount I could apply for from the government is not even close to the amount of the bill. I feel as though I have caused a mess.

I can swear that i love my partner with everything I have and the family we have created. But, when we have a disagreement or argument he sometimes uses the world “it was a fucking car’, or it was a fucking this or that. It affects me because my parents used to argue like this i front of me and it affected me. I’ve told him soooo many times to not use those words and not talk to me that way even when he’s mad, he doesn’t do it in front of our daughters and we rarely argue but that doesn’t mean it won’t bother me. I don’t want to end our relationship over this but I just don’t know what to do.

I can't seem to get used to sleeping in my car. I try to get outside of the car often but I feel trapped a lot of the time. Does anyone know of a place near Atlanta that can help me get emergency housing ? I have called around and no one seems to know

My current lease is ending soon so I’m starting to look for new apartments to live. I’m currently looking at one place that would be around $1650 a month ($1359 base $135 parking + $55 water and trash + $55 wifi + ~$50 electricity), which is about $250 less than what I’m paying currently (rent prices are getting crazy).
My gross monthly income is $6250 so according to the 30% rule, this still falls under my rent budget. I also have no student loans or any current debt, and my car is also completely paid off (just need to worry about gas). I would consider myself to be wise with my money — I rarely eat out unless I’m with friends, always make coffee at home haha, I don’t blow my paychecks, and I’m not a very impulsive spender. Some people I’ve spoken to have suggested selling my car, but unfortunately I don’t live in a walkable city so that isn’t an option for me :(
I love this apartment — huge east-facing windows, useful amenities, secured building and parking, safe, and a relatively quick walk to work and parks. I just feel a bit … stuck and a bit guilty? I would love to save as much as I can on living expenses (especially because I spent a bit more than I would have liked on rent this past year), but quality of living is also huge for me (I can be a bit of a homebody). I’m the type of person who likes to think about the future in the sense where I’d like to struggle a little more right now to get to where I want to be quicker, if that makes sense?
I am looking at another apartment that is $1200 a month. If I went with this option, I’d be saying $5,360 on rent throughout the entire 12-month lease period. This apartment is nice too, however, it lacks the security and safety (and sunlight) that the above option has.
Some things that might be worth noting is that I might be starting a small side hustle to generate some extra income, and I may also be getting a salary increase at the end of this year or beginning of next year. My long-term plan is to move back in with my parents at the end of summer 2024 for a few years to save some money. Ideally, I’d be doing that right now but I’m still waiting for my company to approve me to work remotely! So in terms of that, would it be okay with spending more than I’d like on rent because I’ll be moving back home next year anyway?
If you’ve ever been in this situation or have any input, I’d love to hear any thoughts. I am also 23 if that makes any difference at all. Thanks so much in advance for any advice!
