Just wanted to give a heads up well in advance that the sub will be 'going dark' for 48 hours on June 12th at 12:00am in solidarity with many other subs regarding Reddit's recent decision to make changes to the API which threatens many 3rd party apps and bots that many many people use. A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app **permanently inaccessible** to users.

On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from [Apollo](https://www.reddit.com/apolloapp/comments/13ws4w3/had_a_call_with_reddit_to_discuss_pricing_bad/) to [Reddit is Fun](https://www.reddit.com/redditisfun/comments/13wxepd/rif_dev_here_reddits_api_changes_will_likely_kill/) to [Narwhal](https://www.reddit.com/getnarwhal/comments/13wv038/reddit_have_quoted_the_apollo_devs_a_ridiculous/jmdqtyt/) to [BaconReader](https://www.reddit.com/baconreadecomments/13wveb2/reddit_api_changes_and_baconreade).

Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface [](/ajwtf "and everything that goes with it!").

This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.

#What's the plan?
​
On June 12th, [many subreddits](https://old.reddit.com/ModCoord/comments/1401qw5/incomplete_and_growing_list_of_participating/) will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away *permanently* unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because *we love Reddit*, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.

The two-day blackout isn't the *goal*, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

What can *you* do?

1. **Complain.** Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a [support request](https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/requests/new): comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as [this one](https://www.reddit.com/reddit/comments/12qwagm/an_update_regarding_reddits_api/.)), leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.

Not sure if I can ask questions here but my spotify desktop app forced me to update one day and now it doesn't work. The app on my phone works fine but both the desktop app and the browser no longer work. The browser just says something went wrong no matter how many times i reload it and the desktop version shows my home page just fine along with all of my playlists but if I click on any, it fails to load and playing songs doesn't do anything. My liked songs playlist is empty despite it showing up on my phone.

I'm currently starting with a PT in dealing with a case of medial epicondylitis that was poorly dealt with years ago in a hospital PT where I was passed around to different therapists and shoved out the door as fast as possible. I initially developed the tendinopathy as a classical/ jazz guitarist as an rsi. The therapy did not teach me about progressive loading isometrics for pain and etc..along with not finding someone to help me uncover what was wrong with my technique after 3 bouts of failure to return my career playing without eventually developing pain again I gave up. After a few years I began working out and discovered I had little if any pain, so after finding someone to help with my guitar technique I decided I want to try and beat this. The pain never goes above a 2 and is often only occurs with movement of extreme pronation and or any major emphasis on the FDS. I've found the pain has become more frequent now that I've added more loadt with practicing my instrument and focused exercise on the medial area but the pain is not more intense. Is this something that you think could be cured or has too much time gone by?

I'm a contributor to an online archive of books and essays called The Ted K Archive and I'm just interested in any and all arguments for changing up the website. I'm also open to arguments the archive should have just been a physical personal collection that I show other weird people at dinner parties.
Here's how the website is explained on the about page:

We, everyone who has contributed, have archived:
• A ton of primary source documents on Ted's life and ideas.
• Documents analyzing the effect he had on the public's understanding of radical environmentalists, anarchists, terrorists, criminals, the mentally ill & simple mental neurodivergence.
• Lots of great suggested reading on anarchism & other issues.
We, the librarians who bought the website domain, are pro-tech anarchists, but we just find his life story and impact really interesting.
So, we’re hoping the website can work to draw people in with similar politics to him and similar mental health issues frankly. Then for the cold hard reality of the primary source reading material, the epic-ness of the suggested reading material and the inviting discussion spaces connected to the website, to all have a deprogramming effect and be a mental health support.

And here's why the name of the website was chosen:

People who are curious about his life and impact are just the main audience we hope to draw in with this website.
Since we think he's going to be remembered as a true crime curiosity anyways, we might as well capitalize on that and use it as a space to promote critiques of people with similar politics to him and help with similar mental health issues to him.

Finally, here's a list of ethical steps taken by the project:

• We have a list of essays critiquing Ted’s politics & philosophy on the front page of the website.
• There are long critiques and disclaimers added to some texts and we aim to add more.
• When collecting together research on misanthropic groups and projects, we simply title the text ‘a text dump on ______’. That way for example we don’t dignify fictional stories terror groups weave when they write their own press releases and title them as communiqués.
• Anyone can join the debate over which texts should go up on the website, obviously if you join just to troll or spam though, you will be removed.
• A record will be kept of all texts that were rejected, whether for minor formatting reasons or deeply held political reasons.
• A record will also be kept of controversial texts that were approved, where for example there was a sizable disagreement.
• Ideally, in the future we will have popular sorting mechanisms directly under the main search box, such as a check box for 'only anarchist texts' that would exclude texts labelled 'not anarchist'.

I also recently archived a book on hunting with a bow and arrow that I think has valuable historical significance, but it did make me feel uncomfortable.
The book is called Hunting with the Bow & Arrow, and I simply found the book after researching the sad story of the 'last wild indian'.
But it does include horrible trophy hunting pictures of animals killed slowly by arrow shot.
Finally, here's a few other archival projects for comparison:
The Ted Kaczynski Papers - A University special collections archive which Ted K sends copies of all his letters to, the library is offline, but people can ask for scans of two folders per month.
UNABOM Collection - Another university one that is made up of donated scans by an FBI guy who worked on the UNABOM taskforce. Lots of the scans are online in downloadable pdfs.
I don't think either of the archives above even did anything to publicize their archives, which was potentially a conscious ethical choice, to not make it easier to find for zealots, so to attempt to mainly cater to academic researchers.
The Anarchist Library - Huge archive that includes some non- and ex-anarchist texts, to document the reasons why people left anarchism or came to the philosophy late. But, it means archiving some really asinine stuff, like primitivist terrorists 'communiques'. I think they're wrong to not include disclaimers at the top of texts and to not format some of the texts as text dumps, but their argument is that's simply not their job as archivists.

I know many of you guys are modders. I am not at the moment. I have sunk some hours into the game now and here is my honest feedback. Maybe the modding community has address some of them:

Expert Mode

The game recommends normal mode for most players, I understand this. But the game should have a progression "test" to push you into expert mode as part of the campaign, because I think this is where the game really comes alive. It becomes less "follow the blue clicker" to actually looking for clues on the car. Actually I played for 10 minutes then immediately switched to "expert" mode. I was much happier because it gives an immersive experience.

Assembly

As far as which part is which and order of assembly, I know it immediately unless the game does something a bit silly. For example, you can't install an oil filter unless it is up on the lift, which is a bit silly but now I know. I realize they need constraints to program the game, so I understand. This is a small nitpick.
For part installation mode in expert, I think the highlighted parts should not appear until you move your mouse to the correct position. This will teach you where the parts generally go not just spam clicking to assemble.

Inspection Mode

I also try to avoid using the inspection mode or whatever it is called showing the red objects, and try to juts visually inspect the parts for rust/damage. This makes it feel a bit more realistic. I think this should be removed from the expert mode or option to disable it.

Vision Mode

I was hoping I could turn off the "x-ray" vision to make it more realistic as well. As we all know sometimes you need to take 25 parts off just to see that 1 part. So when you want to remove or install a part, all the junk is in your way until you remove it (like bumper, radiator etc.) You can have the option to work around it making it more difficult as well, (as long as enough clearance is there to put tools in). This would make the process much more realistic.

Tools

I also wish the tools didn't give too much information. For example I like the engine compression gauge, which can show if the engine has lost compression, but I think it should not tell you what parts to change, but you need to inspect to find it. But at least now you suspect a problem somewhere in the heads before tearing them down completely, just like real life.

Minor Missing Assembly

Maybe I didn't unlock it yet but I'm surprised you don't need consumables like gaskets. They could have added gaskets and for liquid type gasket sealants even made a "drawing" mini-game which requires accuracy or else the gasket won't hold.
My last feedback is why there are no pipes / tubes / wires in your way? Generally that stuff seems missing, maybe that is just because I'm playing on an old xbox.

TLDR

TLDR: Overall an excellent game that I am enjoying and is surprisingly accurate in many ways.

A Scottish Podcast follows two Scottish dudes named Lee and Douglas. Lee used to be a radio DJ, but he recently lost job. In his quest to not starve, Lee has stumbled across, what he thinks, will be a surefire path to success: starting a paranormal investigation podcast. Lee soon drags Douglas along for the ride, and the two set out to make the best paranormal investigation horror podcast set in Scotland.
I wouldn't so much call A Scottish Podcast a horror podcast. I'd say that it's more of a comedy/slice-of-life podcast that happens to include horror elements. The podcast primarily focuses on Lee and Douglas' day-to-day lives, and the various mundane aspects of running a podcast. Still, there's plenty of laughs to be had, and shout-out to other podcasts.
A Scottish Podcast is very much a character-driven show. There are plot threads that are set up at the start of the season, but it really is the characters, and the focus on their lives, that carries the show. Lee has a freewheeling devil-may-care personality. He's the type to jump in first and hammer out the details as he goes along. That pretty much describes how he created The Terror Files. By contrast, Douglas is more sensible and cautious. Well, he did agree to Lee's crazy idea, but otherwise he's pretty sensible. He's also got a bit of a chip on his shoulder due to the time he shit in his pants on live television.
Lovecraft was clearly a pretty big influence on the creators. Several of the strange things Lee and Douglas investigate have strong Lovecraftian undertones to them. For example, in season two they investigate a professor from Miskatonic University who conducted experiments for the British government during World War II. Also, apparently Miskatonic University is real in the world of A Scottish Podcast; albeit as a mundane university that is a bit annoyed that Lovecraft featured them in his works. Season one also featured Lovecraftian horrors lurking beneath Edinburgh, but also an undead cannibal warrior from the 10th century. A Scottish Podcast even did it's own adaption of The Shadow Over Innsmouth. The set-up is that Douglas is traveling to England on holiday, and stays at the seaside town of Innsmouth. Ah, so that's how Lovecraft slipped that one under the radar. Everyone thought the reals Innsmouth was in New England, like the story, but it was actually in Old England all along. Thought, to be clear there is no Innsmouth on either side of the Atlantic in real life.
The voice cast in absolutely fantastic. Rob Cudmore and Matthew McLean play our two leads. Sarah Golding, a true gem of the audio drama community, plays Drunk Helen. Karim Kronfli plays Bruce the friendly and jovial, but still violent and murderous, local gangster.
In addition to the main show, A Scottish Podcast has had many fun special. They did a Burns Night Special, where the characters all read poetry, but it was all original works, rather than the poems of Robert Burns. They also did a special where the characters all read poems written by HP Lovecraft. This was framed as a poetry contest that Bruce was running to sponsor a butcher shop he owns.

It's been a tough day. I just need to vent.. maybe see if anyone has gone through anything similar.
Around 23 weeks (28 weeks now), I started having these spells of jitteriness, lightheadedness, pressure headaches, heart palpitations, fast heart rate, shortness of breath, sweaty, finishing the spell with fatigue. I work at a surgery center and one of the nurses noticed I wasn't feeling well. I explained to her what was going on and she hooked me up to an EKG because we had no more patients for the rest of the day. I had frequent PVC's and tachycardia, as well as elevated blood pressure. While PVC's are not a cause for concern, just the fact that I was symptomatic, they recommended I go to L&D. L&D did another EKG and found the same. My midwife had put in a referral for a cardiac consult and holter monitor and sent me on my way. There is no concern for baby girl, she's doing great.
I met with my cardiologist and he ordered an echocardiogram, some blood tests and a 24hr urine test. My echocardiogram came back normal, there's no concern for structural or electrical issues of my heart. My blood test and urine test came back with some abnormalities, leading me to today's appointments. I met with my midwife today, baby is still measuring great. She asked how I felt about the possibility of having a consult with an OB. I told her I'd rather wait to see what my cardiologist says, as we didn't know what kind of abnormalities showed on the tests. After my midwife appointment, I had my cardiology appointment right after. He explained to me that while my tests were not normal, they also were not wildly abnormal. Just in the indeterminate range. He explained to me that these tests were to check for the presence of a pheochromocytoma, a tumor on my adrenal gland. A tumor on my adrenal gland would cause all of the exact symptoms I am having. I have to repeat the 24hr urine test to check my levels again. If they are still higher than normal, then the next step would be an MRI. My blood pressure was higher today but didn't raise concern from my midwife but did raise concern from my cardiologist. He ordered a normal urinalysis for me to complete to check for preeclampsia as well as having my urine from my 24hr test be tested for preeclampsia. I asked him what he thought of me continuing with midwifery care. He recommended I be moved into high-risk care and meet with an OB and MFM. He put in the recommendation to my midwives. On top of all of this, I had my glucose test today and failed the 1 hour test.
As far as my midwife appointments go, baby girl is great. Her heart sounds great and is measuring well. It's just me! I've been a wreck today. I'm absolutely fucking terrified but also I trust my cardiologist. My husband has been so great through all of this and relieved I'll be moved to OB care. He feels that the midwives are over-looking things. I was not terrified of labor and delivery until today. I don't know. I'm just scared of all of the unknowns.

So my kids dad went to prison for rape I believe she was over +18. He’s never met our youngest child the oldest doesn’t remember him too well. He’s been out since last January we’ve been in contact a lot with him disappearing every few months bc he has some situation that he can’t communicate with his children. My question is what can and can’t he do with the kids with him being on parole in CA. Our kids have sports and he tells them he will attend games/ practices but when it comes to it he just doesn’t show up. Hell then tell them oh your mom didn’t let me go or I couldn’t get off of work. He works 4am-5 or 6pm from my knowledge. The kids games for certain sports aren’t till after 6. Does his parole not allow him to be around other kids bc of what he went to prison for ? I feel like he’s just lying to not go but I’m not too sure when I spoke to the parole officer who insisted I keep In contact he told me he encourages him to attend the kids events. So I’m not sure.

I’m thinking about having a handful of planets in our next game map -perhaps the one directly around MR - be facedown. Everyone would know what the planets could be as I’d show them the pool before we shuffle and put them facedown. Or alternatively I could ask my partner who doesn’t play to use the mapmaker online to generate a valid 6p map and have him set it up on the table with various planets facedown. They’d get flipped when you activated the hex. This was the only element of Eclipse I enjoyed and I think it would be a fun thematic addition to TI4. Have you ever participated in a game of TI4 that deployed this map strategy? And if I was going to do this, where’s the best place to place the hidden hexes within the map? I don’t want it to be so disruptive that it really screws people up (so probably not do this to the planets right next to the home planets) but I want there to be some element of unknown. Thoughts?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.

What's the plan?

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. About a month ago I reached out to best friend (30F) will refer to her as Lisa, of 5 years or so to hang out to be met with a text that she was incredibly angry with me, couldn’t trust me anymore, and was contemplating ending our friendship. This came as a shock to me, offered to discuss what had happened and work it through. She refused to tell me what I did, said she wanted space. I expressed my sorrow and want to address the situation and again offered to find a time to talk when she was ready. She did not respond.
I reached out to my other close friend (well refer to her as Pia) in our close triad of friendship and she also said she was hurt but would be willing to talk when she was in the right mental space to do so/when everyone was on the same page.. I said I understood and would be available when they were ready. Again. No response.
Clearly IATA for something.. what that is I truly don’t know. And again maybe that makes me one here, despite everything appearing to be perfectly fine across the three of us just days before this.
The anxiety of not knowing what I did just that it was friendship ending set me on edge for days. I contemplated reaching out to them but overall decided against because they had asked for space and wanted to reconvene when they were doing better mentally. And truthfully, I’ve learned to focus on myself and what I control. Their response, or lack of response, didn’t fall under what I considered to be under my control. And at the end of the day, I had to keep life going working full time an obtaining my masters on the side.
Mothers Day came, I sent her a gift wishing her a happy Mother’s Day, no response.
The final straw was when I saw pictures of P and L shopping for P’s wedding dress clearly leaving me out without knowing this was taking place.
I reached out to P tried to call no answer sent a text and said she looked beautiful and hoped we could talk.
Pia then put us 3 in a group text trying to coordinate a time to all get together (despite feeling ganged up on) and talk it over. I agreed to a date to meet.
I reached out to Lisa and shared that I looked forward to talking, that I had missed them a lot. It then turned into how I was an asshole for not reaching out more than the one time I did when it all first went down. I explained my reasonings above but was told I didn’t try hard enough, how the picture shouldn’t have been the reason I reached out and how it all shows I don’t care to mend the relationship.
At this point I feel it’s manipulative and feel they equally had opportunity to reach out. AITA for not reaching out more than the one time I did initially and “not doing more”?

A sufficient workaround is to add the launcher binary to your antivirus' whitelist, or to select the action to trust this binary when detected. More information can be found from the launcher's FAQ on Github.
If you are paranoid, you can always inspect the source code yourself and build the launcher from the source code. However, you are still likely to get false positives.

• The UI is broken or weird, is this normal?

If you think the UI isn't set up correctly, make sure to press } to access the UI Settings panel. You will be given a choice of several different styles, with "Labels" being the recommended setting for new players and "Classic" for veteran players.

Hello commanders.
Just a heads up that this subreddit will join many other subreddits in protest against the recently announced API changes which will in effect put every third party Reddit app out of commission. This means that this subreddit and over 1000 others will be unavailable for 48 hours, starting from June 12.
Below is a copy/paste of the details from this thread.

What's going on?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.

What's the plan?

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?

1. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible. This includes not harassing moderators of subreddits who have chosen not to take part: no one likes a missionary, a used-car salesman, or a flame warrior.

Over the last couple of weeks, I've put together a mod for an old flash game I often come back to. Not sure if it can be called an incremental, but the grindiness and upgrade system of the game really feels like it shares the same spirit, so I ended up deciding to post it here. It particularly reminds me of LBR, which I play a lot. This mod aims to fix various bugs and exploits, QOL improvements, as well as adding new post-game objectives.
All credit to the original author - what I've done is trivial by comparison.
There are still a bunch of things on the todo list, and the new content is not really balanced properly yet, but I'm sort of losing motivation to work on it without any feedback. If people like this, I'll work on it some more. Here's a full list of changes:

• battles defeated with Order of the Star equipped, are marked gold on the map
• enemies killed with Order of the Star equipped, are marked with a star in the bestiary, and add to your completion percentage
• shopkeepers can be fought with Order of the Star equipped, and have assorted new battle mechanics
• added a hidden easter egg, unlocked after defeating a Demon Lord
• prevented walking outside the game window using the Coin of Bravery, also functions correctly in shrine battles
• increased size of the black mask covering outside game window
• when leaving any battle, you appear on the map in your previous position
• added a buy-max button to every shop where appropriate
• require clicking the save-reset button 10 times to confirm reset
• randomized names are romanized correctly, and saved to your file instead of regenerating every time you start the game
• current companion is saved to your file
• various other misc cosmetic and minor bug fixes
