Ro-Racing in Roblox is competetive, fun and sometimes even crazy. You can make your own league in discord or just join a league and get a chance to get signed by teams. Theres also a couple of Ro-Racing games in Roblox. Also i'd like to mention that Roblox is free! So all you need is a Pc and start racing. Just make an account for roblox first.

2023.05.31 18:47 Dependent_Ad_5687 Looking for people to chat with pretty often

F18. I live in the USA.
I've been looking for friendships recently due to me not having many friends to talk to, so my anxiety gets the better of me.
If you're willing to talk to me, I like; Vocaloid, PvZ, Project diva/sekai, roblox, wolfquest ae, MLP
I have been recently playing; Stardew Valley, Battle tor neighborville, animal crossing new horizons, roblox
Anyone is welcome. However, I'd prefer people who have something we both like. Makes it easier to talk.
I'm pretty much free all the time as well, if I don't respond I'm sleeping, somehow busy or watching yt/playing games on my phone.
I forgot to include I'd like people to game with as well, some games I cannot due to reasons.

2023.05.31 18:39 justkindavibing looking for general performance advice plus upgrades to omen 30l gt13-0xxx

my computer runs pretty good, but i have issues with discord being laggy when i'm on vc. and if i wanna stream games like rdr2 or mw2, i have to turn my graphics settings down to the lowest options to prevent streaming a slideshow (the game would run fine on my end). i also have issues with programs like roblox, opera gx and google chrome using about 80% of my memory in total. can i do something about these issues?
also, like the title says, i'm interested in upgrading my computer. i have the i7-10700k cpu, nvidia geforce rtx 2080 super, and 16gb ram. should i upgrade any parts to solve the issues above? do i even need to upgrade? if other information is required i'd be happy to provide it.
sorry for the long post, i'm very new to the computer scene and i have a lot of questions. thank you for reading!

2023.05.31 18:23 k819799amvrhtcom Self-Imposed Videogame Challenge: Trans Ally Edition!

TL;DR (spoilers): You, and anyone who wants to try the challenge with you if it's a multiplayer game, are a trans ally, and your job is to collect $25,000 or the equivalent thereof in in-game money (rounded up to the next smallest divisible part) for your transgender friend's transition in less than 31 in-game years. Everything is allowed. You do not have to finish the game.
Want a new and interesting way to play your favorite videogame? I got one with a transgender theme that is interesting, challenging, easy to implement, and compatible with almost any videogame, so it's a Mario challenge, a Pokémon challenge, a Minecraft challenge, and so on and so forth, all at the same time!

The Plot

You, and anyone who wants to try the challenge with you if it's a multiplayer game, are a trans ally, and your job is to collect money to pay for your transgender friend's transition. You win by acquiring enough in-game money. You are allowed to consult the internet, use passwords from the internet, commit in-game crimes, purchase microtransactions, abuse glitches, use cheat codes, and even hack the game to reach your goal, but is it really worth the effort? You are kinda expected to use the easiest way to win the challenge that you know of.

The Rules

Rule #1: You have to get the money you need for a transition. In order to make the challenge less boring for you, I did the research for you and came to the result of $25,000. However, this value might change if you try out this challenge in the far future, meaning that this challenge technically changes depending on when you attempt it. The value is expected to rise even further with inflation, or perhaps it might be reduced with the invention of more efficient surgery techniques. If the USA ever starts getting the universal healthcare system or a societal breakdown makes these surgeries impossible, this challenge will refer to the cost of the legal name & gender change, instead. And if that also ever becomes free then just choose a different country where it isn't free yet. But this is not going to change anytime soon (When do you think this challenge will become obsolete?) so, for now, you just have to remember to collect $25,000 in in-game money. This applies to every game that uses $ for in-game money. If the game uses £ or ¥ or € or any other real-world value, you'll have to convert it. Here's an online tool for converting currencies, which also supports various cryptocurrencies and custom rate dates. If the maximum amount of in-game money you can hold at once is less then the challenge is simply impossible. This only applies to non-videogame currencies.
Rule #2: If the in-game currency is fictional then you'll have to convert it (rounded up to the next smallest divisible part). It's easy if you can buy in-game money with real money, even if that feature doesn't work because of a glitch or something. Otherwise, you'll have to do some research. If you can't find any direct information on the internet, I would suggest starting here to get a basic idea on how to calculate that. If there are multiple in-game currencies you are allowed to split the price of the transition among them in any way you want, provided you know the value of all of them. If there is no in-game currency then you are allowed to use points instead. If the game doesn't have points either then you can try to invent a substitute currency but it has to be something that would actually work as a substitute currency in the world you're in. If that's not possible either then the only way for you to win this challenge is to raise real money by doing a let's play of the game. But then you'll have to actually pay for a real trans person's transition (yourself included) or donate the money to transgender-related causes to actually win the challenge. Here's a website that lets you donate for transgender causes. If the amount of in-game money you can hold at once is less or you were unable to find out how much you need then you are also allowed to simply collect the maximum possible amount instead because games will never ask you for more money than you can hold for a single product, meaning that this would have to be the in-game prize of a transition, as transitions are always for only a single person. This only applies to videogame currencies.
Rule #3: You do not need to finish the game. All you need to do to win this challenge is to get the money somehow. Please keep in mind that the exchange rate isn't constant. The exact amount you need to win the challenge has to be enough in the moment when you have the amount. You automatically win the challenge the moment this is the case.
Rule #4: You need to get the money in less than 31 in-game years. This number was calculated by subtracting the age at which children begin to have an innate sense of their own gender (4 years) from the average lifespan of a trans person (35 years). If the game has time-travelling elements, you are allowed to use those to extend the time limit. However, it only counts if this actually involves time itself and not just the timer. The same also goes the other way around: Travelling into the future or even moving in relativistic speeds will decrease the time limit. If the time limit runs out, I hope you have a way to return back to the past later!
Rule #5: If you can choose between multiple difficulty settings, you are allowed to choose the easiest one. In fact, you are expected to. Trans people are already on hard mode and the idea of being an ally is to specifically use the possibilities given to you to help those with fewer possibilities than you. If you have the option to select an easier difficulty setting which would make it easier for you to win this challenge, use it. Even if you're already used to playing on a higher difficulty mode. Not doing so would be considered bad strategy on your part. You are allowed to choose a higher difficulty setting, but please only do so if this actually gives you some advantages, like more rewards, more levels, or faster gameplay. This challenge gives you no bonus points for selecting a higher difficulty setting.
Rule #6: Emulation, and all tricks that come with it, are explicitly allowed. Doing so might be against the law but it is explicitly not against the rules of this challenge. The reason for this is because being transgender has been illegal for a long time and still is in many states, forcing many people to break the law in order to live their lives. The police have historically targeted trans and gender non-conforming folks. Stonewall was a riot against police brutality. I am not advocating for doing anything illegal. I am, however, saying that you should never use the law to argue for the morality of anything trans-related, as doing so would be disrespectful towards a huge part of transgender history. Therefore, this rule will remain in effect even if being transgender ever becomes legal worldwide.
In order to make the challenge even less boring for you, I have started researching loads of fictional currencies and how much money you would have to collect there for this challenge so you don't have to.

The values are not guaranteed to be accurate. In fact, I have found many cases of contradictory information on the internet. But you don't care about that anyway, do you? This isn't about the exact value anyway. These are all meant to be rough estimates to give you a sense of scale.

The Motivation

I was inspired by my Pokémon Trans Ally challenge that is about collecting money for a trans person's surgery. If you actually attempt this challenge you'll see that it'll usually be a very long and tedious challenge that will require a lot of experimentation, long-term planning, and doing the same things over and over again for a very long time, especially if you wanna try this as a speedrun. If the challenge bores you out, well, that is the point! The challenge is meant to give people with little or no sense of money an impression of how much money this really is! Now, you could argue that this challenge could theoretically be used to visualize any amount of money, and you would technically be correct, but I still think that a transgender transition is one of the best matches for this challenge because:
  1. A transition is always only for one person. We aren't talking about a company buying another company or a country investing in more infrastructure. This is something within the realm of a single person so it makes sense to have this be a challenge for a single person or a small group.
  2. This is not a luxury item like a famous painting or a private jet. Overwhelming scientific evidence proves that this is a medical necessity that trans people require in order to live like the majority of people. It is not something you want but something you need. So you can really say that acquiring all this money is really something that they have to go through. Therefore, unless you are transgender yourself, I would really recommend you to actually play the challenge until the end, even if it takes you years to actually do so. Not for your enjoyment but to acknowledge trans people's struggles and maybe also to protest against the gatekeeping system.
  3. Unlike people who regularly need medications, the transgender transition is a once-in-a-lifetime thing and is therefore compatible with a challenge that you only play through once and then never again.
  4. Once your transition is over, it cannot be taken from you.
  5. It is not possible to request the costs to be paid for you if you can prove that you cannot afford it, meaning the only way to get it is to actually get the money.
  6. Being trans is not an illness or a disability. Trans people never did anything wrong, neither deliberately nor accidentally. They are simply born with a condition that requires them to get the money. Trans people are therefore as guilt-free as a typical videogame hero.
Do you know anything more expensive that fulfills all those criteria?

The Fun Facts

---
/uj If you donate gold in Gaia Online, the company will donate money to charity. I find this mechanic to be a really good idea and I would like to see it more often because it enables players to support the less fortunate without having to donate their own money. Just imagine if every game on this list gave you the option to donate $25,000 worth of in-game money which would then be donated to transgender causes and unlock the Trans Ally achievement! I know it would be very cumbersome to unlock, but completionists would definitely go for it and also, it would be done for a good cause!

2023.05.31 00:19 SwedishCarLiker I received an offer for a 'brand integration' on my game. They want me to say a price, not sure what my traffic is worth.

I think this is a bit of a wacky question but im not quite sure who else to ask for help. Not going to say name of the company and folks involved cuz they told me not to. Anyway, I develop a game on Roblox about car racing. I recieved an offer from a 'metaverse marketing company' that would mean working with a large American racing brand or league. They want to put a portal within my game that would send users to check out a sponsored game created for the racing company.
To give you some idea of the audience they're after I guess.. I have about 500,000 Monthly individual users who spend an average of 12.5 minutes per session within the game. About 15-20% of the users time might be spent in the location where the portal would be placed. Primarily American playerbase, with UK and Australia coming in 2nd and 3rd. I'd guess they get somewhere between 20,000-40,000 players to interact with the sponsored game over the course of the 4 week placement they asked for.
My first idea is to ask for $500, is that a big ask or a bargain for them?! Any advice or opinions much appreciated!

2023.05.30 17:46 bradengroom Evolving Authorization for Our Advertising Platform

Evolving Authorization for Our Advertising Platform
By Braden Groom
Mature advertising platforms often require complex authorization patterns to meet diverse advertiser requirements. Advertisers have varying expectations around how their accounts should be set up and how to scope access for their employees. This complexity is amplified when dealing with large agencies that collaborate with other businesses on the platform and share assets. Managing these authorization patterns becomes a non-trivial task. Each advertiser should be able to define rules as needed to meet their own specific requirements.
Recognizing the impending complexity, we realized the need for significant enhancement of our authorization strategy. Much of Reddit’s content is public and does not necessitate a complex authorization system. Unable to find an existing generalized authorization service within the company, we started exploring the development of our own authorization service within the ads organization.
As we thought through our requirements, we saw a need for the following:
  • Low latency: Given that every action on our advertising platform requires an authorization check, it is crucial to minimize latency.
  • Availability: An outage would mean we are unable to perform authorization checks across the platform, so it is important that our solution has high uptime.
  • Auditability: For security and compliance requirements, we need a log of all decisions made by the service.
  • Flexibility: Our product demands frequently evolve based on our advertising partners' expectations, so the solution must be adaptable.
  • Multi-tenant (stretch goal): Given the lack of generalized authorization solution at Reddit, we would like to have the ability to take on other use-cases if they come up across the company. This isn't an explicit need for us, but considering different use-cases should help us enhance flexibility.
Next, we explored open source options. Surprisingly, we were unable to find any appealing options that solved all of our needs. At the time, Google’s Zanzibar paper had just been released which has come to be the gold standard of authorization systems. This was a great resource to have available, but the open source community had not had time to catch up and mature these ideas yet. We moved forward with building our own solution.

Implementation

The Zanzibar paper was able to show us what a great solution looks like. While we don’t need anything as sophisticated as Zanzibar, it got us heading in the direction of separating compute and storage, a common architecture in newer database systems. In our solution, this essentially means that we would keep rule retrieval firmly separated from the rule evaluation. In practice, this means that our database will perform absolutely no rule evaluation when fetching rules at query time. This policy decoupling keeps the query patterns simple, fast, and easily cacheable. Rule evaluation will only happen in the application after the database has returned all of the relevant rules. Having the storage and evaluation engines clearly isolated should also make it easier for us to replace one if needed in the future.

Another decision we made was to build a centralized service instead of a system of sidecars, as described in LinkedIn's blog post. While the sidecar approach seemed viable, it appeared more elaborate than what we needed. We were uncertain about the potential size of our rule corpus and distributing it to many sidecars seemed unnecessarily complex. We opted for a centralized service to keep the maintenance cost down.
Now that we have a high-level understanding of what we're building, let's delve deeper into how the rule storage and evaluation mechanisms actually function.

Rule Storage

As outlined in our requirements, we aimed to create a highly flexible system capable of accommodating the evolving needs of our advertiser platform. Ideally, the solution would not be limited to our ads use-case alone but would support multiple use-cases in a multi-tenant manner.
Many comparable systems seem to adopt the concept of rules consisting of three fields:
  • Subject: Describes who or what the rule pertains to.
  • Action: Specifies what the subject is allowed to do.
  • Object: Defines what the subject may act upon.
We followed this pattern and incorporated two more fields to represent different layers of isolation:
  • Domain - Represents the specific use-case within the authorization system. For instance, we have a domain dedicated to ads, but other teams could adopt the service independently, maintaining isolation from ads. For example, Reddit's community moderator rules could have their own domain.
  • Shard ID - Provides an additional layer of sharding within the domain. In the ads domain, we shard by the advertiser's business ID. In the community moderators scenario, sharding could be done by community ID.
It is important to note that the authorization service does not enforce any validations on these fields. Each use-case has the freedom to store simple IDs or employ more sophisticated approaches, such as using paths to describe the scope of access. Each use-case can shape its rules as needed and encode any desired meaning into their policy for rule evaluation.
Whenever the service is asked to check access, it only has one type of query pattern to fulfill. Each check request is limited to a specific (domain, shard ID) combination, so the service simply needs to retrieve the bounded list of rules for that shard ID. Having this single simple query pattern keeps things fast and easily cacheable. This list of rules is then passed to the evaluation side of the service.

Rule Evaluation

Having established a system for efficiently retrieving rules, the next step is to evaluate these rules and generate an answer for the client. Each domain should be able to define a policy of some kind which specifies how the rules need to be evaluated. The application is written in Go, so it would have been easy to implement these policies in Go. However, we wanted a clear separation of these policies and the actual service. Keeping the policy logic strongly isolated from the application logic gives two primary advantages:
  • Preventing the policy logic from leaking across the service, ensuring that the service remains independent of any specific domain.
  • Making it possible to fetch and load the policy logic from a remote location. This could allow clients to publish policy updates without requiring a deployment of the service itself.
After looking at a few options, we opted to use Open Policy Agent (OPA). OPA was already in use at Reddit for Kubernetes-related authorization tasks and so there was already traction behind it. Moreover, OPA has Go bindings which make it easy to integrate into our Go service. OPA also offers a testing framework which we use to enforce 100% coverage for policy authors.

Auditing

We also had a requirement to build a strong audit log allowing us to see all of the decisions made by the service. There are two pieces to this auditing:
First, we have a change data capture pipeline in place, which captures and uploads all database changes to BigQuery.

https://preview.redd.it/o6ns4eap113b1.png?width=1999&format=png&auto=webp&s=280338fa432879b0a5291fc79adf7c2869fb761c
Second, the application logs all decisions which a sidecar uploads to BigQuery. Although we implemented ourselves, OPA does come with a decision log feature that may be interesting for us to explore in the future.

https://preview.redd.it/cg3u4vgs113b1.png?width=1652&format=png&auto=webp&s=32be73b70701587aebdd56226ee8793abd058248
While these features were originally added for compliance and security reasons, the logs have proven to be an incredibly useful debugging tool.

Results

With the above service implemented, addressing the requirements of our advertising platform primarily involved establishing a rule structure, defining an evaluation policy, integrating checks throughout our platform, and developing UIs for rule definition on a per-business basis. The details of this could warrant a separate dedicated post, and if there is sufficient interest, we might consider writing one.
In the end, we are extremely pleased with the performance of the service. We have migrated our entire advertiser platform to use the new service and observe p99s of about 8ms and p50s of about 3ms for authorization checks.

https://preview.redd.it/lzlmzduv113b1.png?width=1842&format=png&auto=webp&s=30375f739b63d5ef828196e73d9636da064eaaae
Furthermore, the service has exhibited remarkable stability, operating without any outages since its launch over a year ago. The majority of encountered issues have stemmed from logical errors within the policies themselves.

Future

Looking ahead, we envision the possibility of developing an OPA extension to provide additional APIs for policy authors. This extension would enable policies to fetch multiple shards when required. This may become necessary for some of the cross-business asset sharing features that we wish to build within our advertising platform.
Additionally, we are interested in leveraging OPA bundles to pull in policies remotely. Currently, our policies reside within the same repository as the service, necessitating a service deployment to apply any changes. OPA bundles would empower us to update and apply policies without the need for re-deploying the authorization service.
We are excited to launch some of the new features enabled by the authorization service over the coming year, such as the first iteration of our Business Manager that centralizes permissions management for our advertisers.
I’d like to give credit to Sumedha Raman for all of her contributions to this project and its successful adoption.

2023.05.29 22:52 yourtortis Larceny done by someone in the military, stole my robux >:(

Gonna make this quick. I met this dude on discord, probably downloaded something stupid I don't know.
He stole my robux (I have developer exchange and it was actual taxable income valued at 1.2k usd, it's like my job)
He compromised my emails, my passwords, basically all of my private information through my WIFI including my family and minor brothers. [he sent me this information as proof through discord]
I have epilepsy, he went into my discord account and made if flash black and white by quickly changing the day night mode which triggered seizures.
He also impersonated as me online.
He also attempted charging my credit card.
He's in the airforce. I have his military base, first and last name, general state and city he lives in, discord ID, snapchat information, phone number and possible email. I also have his military status and pay grade.
Trying to criminally charge him.
I'm hearing prosecution is hard without evidence, I have evidence of charges and him having access in my account but not much more than that. Discord, Gmail, ROBLOX, and my bank account have more details and proof on him accessing my accounts and such but I think I'd need the charge to actually go through to even get to that step.
But I also know him being in the military is also different. I called his military branch and filed a report. Ya
help...

[M17] Hi, I'm Charlie! Looking potential IRL friends in the East Tennessee area! Continue reading to learn more about me :)
Hi! my name is Charlie, I use he/they pronouns (which may change, who knows), and I'm an avid musician, bird lover, hike enjoyer, photographer, and fashionista! I'd say I'm a well-rounded person and I am always down for learning more! These days, I really don't have many good friends and tend to find myself being by myself most of the time because of this.
Would love a friend who has some of these qualities:
  • Doesn't smoke or do drugs
  • Is reliable and makes a commitment to being there for me
  • Nerdy & smart
  • Open to talking about their feelings
  • Play Minecraft & Roblox with me
  • Voice Chats with me
  • Possibly meeting up IRL (if you live close)
  • Preferably with feminine qualities, I feel more comfortable around people who are
Feel free to comment or DM me. No NSFW messages please!
