2023.02.07 01:52 boutell New US CCS chargers report for January 2023
Here are all of the new US CCS (Level 3 fast-charging) stations that rolled out in January 2023, according to the Department of Energy. These chargers are suitable for most new EVs on the market, except for:
- Tesla drivers who haven't bought the official CCS adapter yet. Certain older Teslas need additional work done to accept the adapter.
- Leaf owners like me, and some owners of older cars that also use CHAdeMO. If you drive a Leaf, or an older CHAdeMO car, see my matching post in leaf.
There were 173 CCS charge points added in January 2023. That shows continued growth month after month. For comparison, there were only 106 new CCS charge points in January 2022.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or just prefer not to check this list monthly when new openings are rare in your area, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications as soon as they open. You can
sign up at evpov.com. Or not! I don't really have a business plan here, I built it to help EV owners like myself.
I also have some nice EVPOV bumper stickers. If you'd like one drop me a line.

2022.12.18 16:14 boombalati42 Are problems with the air suspension pretty normal?
I purchased a 2023 grand cherokee L summit reserve last week, and really love(d) the vehicle for the whole week I was able to drive it. Friday on my way to the store I got a 'Service Air Suspension Immediately!' right at 270 miles on the odometer and the suspension dropped all the way to the tires.
Luckily, or so I thought, I was very close to a Jeep dealer - not the one I bought from. I called Jeep and they said I could take it to any dealer. I took it to the dealer close by - they said they couldn't get to it until next week. I told them I had it with me and he then said 'oh well, it might not be until the week after' and they said that I should take it to the dealer I bought from: 'because they would have more pull'. Whatever that means. Anyway - Autonation sure as hell wont be getting any of my business ever.
The dealer I bought from is like an hour away, and I didnt want to drive it there - but they came and picked it up friday night. They called saturday but I couldnt get to the phone, but left a 'call me back' message with no details - no answer when I called back. I figure if it was a simple fix, they would have left a detailed message. I'll find out tomorrow, I suppose.
Honestly, kind of annoyed that an 80k vehicle took a shit right out of the gate, and after a few searches - I saw one or more people saying the same thing happened to them pretty quickly. Is this going to be seriously problematic for years to come?

2022.12.14 17:28 RubAnADUB JEEP - Doesnt really care
So I had my JEEP Renegade in service twice this year. Once for a sunroof issue where they ended up having to replace the whole thing. And the 2nd time was for a AC that the blowout valve - blew off. They replaced that as well and re-charged the system. Both times I needed a rental (autonation) didn't have any and told me to just get a rental and pay for it - then call the jeep cares phone number and get reimbursement.
I did that twice. Never heard back, so a few months ago I called again and they said my case was closed and needed to create a new ticket and I would have to re-submit my paperwork - I did that. Fast forward till today - I call in with my best STEWIE voice - WHERES MY MONEY? they tell me the paperwork was all good - and they are not sure why a check wasn't mailed out. So whats the answer? create a new ticket (move the documentation, thank god I dont have to re-submit it) and someone would be calling me or a check will be mailed out.
I swear I am going to go ballistic about this, its been since MARCH people.

2022.11.18 23:44 vesper0000 Autonation jeep with dash warning light.
Wife found the perfect jeep this week. After an extremely painful purchase process from an autonation dealer, we bought it. Normally would not have given this place business but the wife wanted this one and the price wasnt bad. Its a 2019 wrangler JL 20k miles. Bought in TX.
During the test drive I asked the salesman what a certain symbol on the dash was and he said it was the auto start/stop feature indicator light. He said if we didnt like the autostart/stop feature we could have it deleted and can find how or who can do it online.
I didnt look up to confirm what the symbol was and I should have.
Now that I have purchased the vehicle and drove it home I have looked up that it is the "issue" indicator not the "ON" indicator and that the auto start/stop feature does not work. They also waited until we were leaving to tell me they only had one key and would call me if the previous owner brought it in.
Am I entitled to them fixing the issue or refunding, and if so, is it doable with my situation? How should I go about this with the dealeAutonation?
I am going to cool off until Monday before I call them and would like some opinions.
Thanks.

2022.03.30 23:42 Sneaky_Archon 4xE Leasing, does anyone have any experiences and or tips (Cali, LA)
Hello all, I want to want to lease a Wrangler 4xE Sahara. With my work/gym/social life being in a 1 to 10 mile radius I realized that this car really suits me! I always wanted a Jeep Wrangler and this is right up my ally, I spoke with a dealership that's about 20 miles out of Los Angeles and they said they'd lease one that's currently in transit for 58,000 MSRP which I thought was a lie, but was actually true surprisingly (their also a AutoNation dealer, meaning I already got a appraisal for my trade-in over email) . Here are my figures hopefully someone has had the same experience that I'm hoping to get out of it.
Trade In: $26,500/ Leftover: $20,000/ Down Payment: $6500/ Credit: 753/ 10,000 Miles/ 32 Months/ HPEV Program Tax Rebate: $7500
Did anyone else put these similar numbers in for their lease deal? If so what was the outcome payment wise? Should there be some things I should look out for?
Thank you!

I've decided to make a once annual recommendation to you autists.
I mostly lurk but I've been here since y'all were in middle school. See my BWLD post below.
https://www.reddit.com/wallstreetbets/comments/6m2vfe/4k_in_long_august_puts_for_bwld/
And here is my post last year regarding GoEasy.
https://www.reddit.com/wallstreetbets/comments/l0557h/dd_goeasy_to_the_fucking_moon/
My BWLD trade recommendation made 40% in 1 month from when I recommended it to when I closed the position.
My GoEasy trade is up 74% (including dividends) in the past 11 months from when I recommended it. I am still holding GoEasy.
Those are the only two recommendations I have made.
AutoNation will be my third.
In the spirit of the holiday season and seeing how you retards can't even beat the S&P500 (lmao), I've decided to make a charitable contribution to you all and share my next position: AutoNation.
AutoNation is America's largest retailer of new cars and has all the top legacy brands (Toyota, Ford, GM, Stellantis, Mercedez, Honda, etc.) in its New Car Dealership portfolio.
Due to the chip shortage, the prices of both used cars and new cars are up substantially. AutoNation's gross profit per New Vehicle is up 116% while their New retail units are down by 12% (!). They have run down their inventory from over 50 days worth of sales to now under 10 days. You can see this if you drive by any Car Dealership in the US. Despite this drop in units sold, AutoNation has hit record revenues this past year.
Catalyst 1: With the chip shortage abating, prices being sticky, and huge pent-up demand for personal automotive (who wants to sit on a bus or train with Covid?) we should see higher supply of cars and more units sold in 2022 at higher pricing. I expect record revenue again in 2022.
Autonation has also worked to reduce Selling, General, and Admin cost as a percentage of gross profit. They hit record low Selling, General, and Admin costs in both the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2021 and that has lead to 6 consecutive quarters of all-time record earnings.
With the new paradigm of tighter supply-demand in the automotive sector, the dealerships do not have to pay as much incentives to sales staff as the sales are much easier. Combined with the huge pent-up demand, this is catalyst 2.
Catalyst 2: Selling, General, and Admin Cost discipline has lead to 6 consecutive record quarters. With the new supply-demand environment, EPS should be supported at new higher level moving forward.
Catalyst 3: Buybacks. I love when a company buys back shares. This company is among the best at it. They reduced their shares outstanding 20% this year and they continue to increase the authorized buyback amount. This should support 20% higher EPS moving forward. The majority of the buyback was funded from Cash Flow from Operations and Cash on Hand.
Catalyst 4: They have acquired 2 companies this year worth an additional 4% in Revenue (and Earnings). Combined with Catalyst 3, this should boost earnings 24%+ moving forward.
Catalyst 5: Mike Manley is taking over as CEO. The guy who turned Jeep around and boosted sales over 100% is the new CEO. He left being the head of North American Operations of Stellantis to become the CEO of AutoNation. I think the market is undervaluing the transformation that we could see at AutoNation in the next few years.
Catalyst 6: Used Car sales. Under the AutoNation Brand, the company is planning to open 130 Used Car locations called AutoNation USA by 2026. As the used car market is 3x the sales of the New Car Market in the US and with such a strong brand, I anticipate them to be able to boost EPS quickly with each new store.
Catalyst 7: P/E Expansion. AutoNation currently trades at a 8 trailing P/E and a 6.5 forward P/E. For an overall market that is trading a historic highs, this is an anomaly.
Other used car dealers (CarMax has a P/E of 18) have higher P/E multiples as the used car market is more resilient to shocks (the used cars are already produced - don't need to worry about supply chain issues or chip shortages etc.)
If AutoNation can get a blended P/E of 12 with the introduction of Catalyst 6, it would support a share price that is almost double what it is now. Combined with the Catalyst 3 and 4, we could see EPS of $25/share in 2022. Multiplying by current P/E Ratio, that is $200 per share (71% increase). Multiplying by P/E Ratio of 12, that is $300 per share (156% increase)
Position Disclosure: I have 2,000 shares of AutoNation.

2022.01.01 22:41 yougotballsson AutoNation - Due Diligence
I've decided to make a once annual recommendation to you autists.
I mostly lurk but I've been here since y'all were in middle school. See my BWLD post below.
https://www.reddit.com/wallstreetbets/comments/6m2vfe/4k_in_long_august_puts_for_bwld/ And here is my post last year regarding GoEasy.
https://www.reddit.com/wallstreetbets/comments/l0557h/dd_goeasy_to_the_fucking_moon/ My BWLD trade recommendation made 40% in 1 month from when I recommended it to when I closed the position.

2021.11.11 22:28 TotesMcGotes13 Is Autonation full of it with their advertised pricing?
I’m looking at Grand Cherokee Ls for the wife. Autonation is advertising limited trims ($48k plus MSRP) at around $42k. I’m not seeing any incentives on the jeep website, and in this crazy market I don’t expect to see anything below MSRP being legit. Just curious if anyone here has experience w them and how accurate their advertised prices are. Also - this price is not including the asterisks rebates (veteran, first responder, conquest, etc). Those are below the line.

2021.09.06 23:38 DenvaCO Jeep Service takes forever ?
A month after getting my new Jeep Grand Cherokee, the power steering went out. Stopped at my local Jeep dealership, AutoNation Broadway, and they said it would be 2 weeks to even look at it? Called Jeep corporate, they said franchises are out of their control, but they would call them. Ended up needing to replace the entire rack and pinion steering. Later go to make an appt for an oil change, and they have no appointments for 2+ weeks.
The massive backlog on Jeep service, no bueno señor....
Love my Jeep, but what a sh!tshow at AutoNation Broadway... Will drive out of my way to Arapahoe and hope they're better managed... It's a Jeep, ya keep fixin it, until it sticks!

My wife bought Honda Civic from Autonation-Honda dealership. The lease is up soon and we were wondering. Do we get to choose different brand like Toyota or Jeep? or is it just only Honda

2021.03.16 04:38 striker008 Is the Dealer Playing Games or Do They Not Realize How Serious I Am?
Wife wants a very particular color of a brand new Jeep Wrangler. Nearest one I could find was 250 miles from me at an autonation. I have no problem agreeing to the deal remotely and driving up and picking up the car on a weekend. I gave the dealer a car and told him the vehicle I was interested in, he took down my information and told me he was going to "speak to my manager" and call me back. He called me back the same day and asked me what I was willing to spend. I gave him almost exactly 7% off MSRP (I had already done my research on true car). He asked where I came up with that number? From another dealer or something? I just said "yes". He said he would talk to his manager and call me back.
Now four days later and no call. I can't figure out if I: - just crushed his hopes of making a deal with me cause I never really specified my wife was set on that color since the dude didn't really ask me so many questions - OR is this is some tactic where if I call him I look desperate
I thought I would just wait four more days and just call him so I don't look so desperate. Thoughts?

2020.11.25 18:36 ktownskier My step-son bought a new Gladiator and that put the new car bug in my ear. I wanted something that rode higher than my 2018 Jeep Cherokee and had a bit more leg room in the passenger side.
Long story short (well somewhat anyways), we own a 2011 F150 supercab with 220K miles. The HVAC doesn't work all that well, it makes a clicking noise which typically means there is a bad modulator. It isn't a problem in the summer here in the Colorado Mountains but it is in the winters. (We will be taking it in to have it fixed soon.)
Our other car is/was a 2018 Jeep Cherokee Limited pretty well loaded. The main problem with the Cherokee is that the passenger side is a bit tight for me in the legroom. We also want to sit up a bit higher. And my damn step son showed up with a brand new Gladiator and that put the new car big in my ear.
We first thought we wanted a Jeep Wrangler but read some bad things about the JL version about the Wrangler. The JK version was the last Mercedes/Chrysler design influenced version, the JL is a Fiat/Chrysler designed one.
I had always liked the 4Runner and we loved how it rode but couldn't get over the poor mileage. Plus the one dealer we went to kept dragging us along. I told him we needed to leave in 5 minutes, at 10 minutes we got up and walked out.
Even though we already own a pickup, I have always liked the Canyon/Colorado. So, we went to look at one. We drove it and liked it but it didn't have some things we really wanted. The GM at the dealership suggested we drive an Enclave Avenir. We drove it and liked it a lot. And it had the things the Canyon didn't.
We made a deal after being there for almost 5 hours. The GM said I was approved and everything was in order. We said that we would be back the next day to pick it up as I had some medical tests to be done in the morning. (The reason we were in Denver in the first place) Plus, that would give them some time to spruce up the car a bit.
We came back the next day, about an hour earlier than our appointment, and were told that no one was there yet. The F&I manager wouldn't be there for an hour. We said okay and that we would go grab something to eat and come back. When I came back in, I overhead the F&I manager say something to someone that caught my attention. It turned out that there was an issue with the financing.
I mentioned that the GM had said I was approved last night, he said I was "kind of approved". He was working with the bank on it and that he would go over with it in a bit. We finally met with him and he went over things. The bank approved me, but at 9.99%. However, if he added on the vehicle protection package, appearance protection package, wheel and tire protection package he could use the equity in them to lower the interest rate to 5,99% but the payment was $665 for 75 months. I struggled with that for a bit but I finally signed it.
After two days, I texted the F&I manager and told him that I wasn't comfortable with the payments, the car and the whole deal and I wanted to rescind the transaction. The car just didn't fit with our lifestyle and didn't meet our needs. This was on a Saturday.
We had to come back down to Denver on Monday for some more medical tests and afterwards, we went to the dealership to turn the Buick Enclave Avenir in and take another look at GMC Canyon Denali. We said that if the numbers worked out, we could make a deal on the Canyon. We liked it and even though it didn't have some of the things we wanted, we could make it work.
Well, they asked what I wanted as a payment and I said $400 a month. It came to a little over $435 all said and done. And, we now own a GMC Canyon Denali. The deal does include the VPP, APP, Cosmetic wheep protection package and tire protection package. This is an AutoNation dealership by the way.
I want the VPP as we intend to own the Denial (our name for the Canyon) for quite awhile but the other packages are questionable. I have asked what products are used in the appearance package to protect the paint and I have never gotten an actual answer.
What I want to know is the following:
Did I do well in getting them to switch from Enclave to the Canyon?
What products are used in the appearance protection package?
Since this is a 4WD vehicle, I am thinking that the Tire protection package is not a good idea as having just one replaced would throw things off. You should have both wheels, if not all 4 wheels replaced if they are going to be more than a few 32nd's difference.
And the Cosmetic tire protection doesn't really matter since I live in the mountains and I do drive off road more than occasionally.
And, the Jeep had a lifetime extended warranty, how do I turn that in?
Thanks everyone!!

2020.11.16 05:49 MSLoganSM LED Headlights problem 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
So I ordered LASFIT 9012’s LED headlight bulbs for my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and my local Autonation Chrysler Jeep technician installed them. There seems to be no problem with the headlights being inoperable but the vehicle seems to reject the LED lights themselves. The car’s computer seems to reject the headlights and shuts them off after 15-20 seconds of them operating. I can switch the light selector to only headlights and they run like a dream without the vehicle in operation, but the moment I put the car into motion the “Low beam headlight out” alert comes on and the car shuts them off. Any advice? The Autonation tech and I are stumped, the LED headlight option is on in the car’s computer system.

2020.08.03 20:17 LucienDebray WSJ: Used-Car Dealers Really, Really Want to Buy Your Vehicle
Good
article in the Wall Street Journal about the current state of the used car market (as many posts on this sub have already noted).
~~~~~~~~
A 10-year-old baby blue Volkswagen Beetle was the most recent impulse-buy for used-car manager Josh Levasseur.
The owner, an 88-year-old woman living at a nearby retirement home, had brought the car to the service department at the dealership where he works. Mr. Levasseur noticed the vehicle’s low mileage, and figured the owner wasn’t driving much and might be inclined to sell. They eventually settled on a price of $5,000.
“It was a vehicle that I never would have tried to find or buy before,” said Mr. Levasseur, who works at Planet Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram in Franklin, Mass. “We just needed cars to sell.”
Used-car salespeople have long wanted to know what they can do to get you into one of their models. Now they want to know what it will take to get you out of yours.
The availability of used vehicles has grown scarce in recent months as fewer people traded in vehicles or returned leases this spring due to virus-related restrictions. Many dealerships were closed or did limited business in early lockdowns, and lease extensions were a common form of Covid relief from lenders. Meanwhile, economic worries as well as a shortage of new cars due to factory closings have sent more buyers to the preowned car lot.
After a drop in April, auto retailers sold a total of 2.1 million preowned vehicles in May and June, a nearly 9% increase over the same two-month period in 2019, according to research firm J.D. Power.
Used-car stockpiles at dealerships dwindled to just under 2.2 million vehicles by late July, a roughly 22% drop from a year earlier, according to research firm Cox Automotive.
Mr. Levasseur said he has been monitoring the used-car auctions—a dealership’s main source for replenishing supplies—but other dealers are paying “astronomical” prices in frenzied bidding.
“The only reason I watch is to see how stupid someone is going to be,” he said.
The average price paid at auction for a used vehicle rebounded from $12,548 in April—its lowest point in three years—to an all time-high of $14,895 in June, according to vehicle auction operator Manheim.
George Chamoun, chief executive of ACV Auctions, a virtual used-car auction, said he has sometimes seen more than 100 dealers fighting over one vehicle. “We’re seeing the same competition over $5,000 cars as we see over $50,000 cars,” he said. “It’s really an unprecedented time.”
The most-purchased cars in the used market from June 20 to July 20 were two SUVS, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 and the 2017 Ford Escape according to Cox Automotive. The most popular preowned models tend to be driven more by supply—especially models coming out of leases—than demand.
Used sales manager Bill Gogola recently came across a batch of six 2019 and 2020 Buick Regals with low mileage in an online auction. Mr. Gogola, who used to mostly oversee sales, now dedicates up to seven hours a day scouting vehicles at virtual auctions.
He said he had to outbid his competitors more than 300 times to secure the now-discontinued Regals, which he got for about $29,000 each—and one of them still got away.
“I was pulling my hair out of my head,” Mr. Gogola said. “It was getting ridiculous.”
In late April, Tom Hemmersmeier told his staff at Jerry Seiner Dealerships in Salt Lake City, Utah, to focus on finding cars they could buy from individuals on the internet.
His sales employees typically get a bonus when they sell a vehicle. Now he is also offering a reward if they bring him a used one—$100 for more average models and up to $250 for more popular styles, such as diesel pickup trucks.
Kevin Forman of Mesa, Ariz. said he was shocked when a salesperson from a nearby Honda dealership called with an offer for his 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, which he had listed online. After some negotiation, they agreed on a price of $2,200—about $1,000 better than some other offers he had gotten, he said.
“I was totally surprised, and honestly a little skeptical,” Mr. Forman said. “But it ended up going really smoothly.”
AutoNation Inc., the retailing chain that owns the Honda dealership, expanded its We’ll Buy Your Car program to all dealerships nationwide this summer to meet greater demand. Larger teams of salespeople have been hitting the phones and scanning the internet to track down cars for the used lot.
The dealership bought 6,000 used cars directly from consumers in the second quarter and expected to purchase another 3,500 preowned vehicles in July, chief executive Mike Jackson told investors late last month.
Gary Dering of Gig Harbor, Wash., wanted to buy a used 2016 Lincoln MKX, but he said he couldn’t get his local Ford dealer to budge on a $28,000 list price. He almost walked away. Then he started negotiating the price to trade in his 2009 Mercury Mariner.
“The sales guy finally came to me and said, ‘You have to tell us what we have to do,’ and I told him he’d have to throw a couple grand more on the trade-in price,” Mr. Dering said.
The dealer’s initial offer for Mr. Dering’s Mariner was $2,000. They ultimately bought it for $6,200, he said.
In Massachusetts, Mr. Levasseur, who bought the VW Beetle, has seen his inventory dwindle to 50 vehicles, from nearly 140 in April. Nothing stays on the lot for long.
By the time he got the Beetle cleaned up and priced to sell at $7,999, he said, it was a matter of days before a father picked it out for his 16-year-old daughter as a birthday present.
2020.02.08 19:39 DLev16 Recent Buying Experiences?
Hi Folks,
I'm currently in the market for a new or lightly used JGC. Currently considering the Trailhawk or High Altitude trims.
I was curious if anyone has any insight as to what to expect to pay. I live in Denver and recently visited the Autonation in Golden. They do an Autonation Savings off the MSRP which is likely the invoice price.
I'm curious what recent buyers have been paying in regards to the invoice price. Jeep has a couple incentives going right now which include 0% financing and $1k back.
Should I expect to get much below invoice right now? I read in past years to expect maybe 4-5% below, but not sure if that is still possible.
Thanks!
