2023.05.09 22:41 hey8002738255 XD Hood paint job/replacement
Hey everyone, Our 2011 SCION XD hood is all marked up from rocks. I got two pain estimates, one was $700 (Maaco), the other $800. It appears that I can get one online, painted for less than $600. I wondered if any of you have heard of the service from
paintedautoparts.com. If you can speak of their services, I'll be grateful.

2023.05.09 19:46 Eager2win Maaco ran up a $5400 bill for a repair on a 2013 Impala worth about $3500
Such a mess my dad got himself into. Long story short, he was in an accident(not his fault). He took his car to Maaco and told them it was an insurance repair and they repaired it. Insurance ended up totaling it out and paid my dad $3500. Maaco is now requesting the title if my dad won't pay the full $5400 bill.
I find it odd and a terrible business decision on their part to do such an expensive repair on such an old vehicle. I know very little about all of this but I know the car isn't worth $5400. He only paid $4000 for it.
If we let them have the car and eat the loss, will they be able to sue for the difference? Should we try to settle with the $3500? That's the most they could get for it. Not sure what to do but I definitely don't want him to pay the $2000 out of pocket to get this old car back.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

They told me they had authorization from the insurance company to do the repair. They said there was no way they would have done it without approval. However, the authorization was verbal according to them- nothing in writing. No formal approval process whatsoever! The guy at Maaco called my dad's insurance agent while we were there and he was aware of the situation-actual repairs costing more than the check they cut. The agent told Maaco to call the State Farm claims department. So that's where we are now.
Maaco also said that they gave him a different claim number this time. Complete incompetency all around. The timeline- State Farm agent told my dad to find a shop and get his car fixed. State Farm(dad's insurance)just randomly sent him a $3500 check. Never sent anyone to inspect the damage. Weeks after the car was repaired, State Farm requested pictures of the damage, and subsequently declared the car a total loss. As far as I'm concerned, Maaco did not have authorization to repair the vehicle, so we will not be paying them. They need to deal with insurance co, am I right?
5/23/23 Update. Dad came up with the balance and paid Maaco. He did not consult with me first. The car looks terrible, some parts like the hood liner were billed but not included. The paint is not a match, overspray all over the car so bad that you can't see out of the back window. You can feel it all over the car. Dad got completely ripped off.

2023.05.08 16:47 a_lukewarm_llama Anyone have a recommendation for getting a truck completely repainted?
I'm looking for somewhere to paint a used truck a different color. It's a 2011 but in very good condition.
Also, I've read conflicting things about Maaco in general, but it sounds like some Maaco shops are good if you pay for their better options and still cheaper than other places. Can anyone comment about the one in Clive?

2023.05.08 02:17 chaveze7 Vinyl Wrap Experience/comments
I have an ‘08 that needs a paint job. I haven’t been able to find a cheap paint job (1,000 or less even at Maaco) and I don’t have the skills to try it myself. (Mostly don’t trust myself to do it right)…. The truck really only needs the roof and the hood everything else is in good shape. Does anyone have any experience using a vinyl wrap on the hood and roof? Any feedback via brand, pictures or how not to, would be appreciated……I saw some options on Amazon VVivid brand looked like an option. I don’t care about matching the existing paint, I’m think of going black on the roof and hood as an accent.

2023.05.06 12:44 Any-Afternoon3310 Bumper scratch, ppf took most of it but there is still some damage what to to?
| Right side of bumper just on the under side… it’s barely the size of a quarter I pulled out of a church parking lot and I could hear the grating noise…. The film took most of the damage but it still got to some of the paint… what to do? I scheduled an appointment with Maaco maybe they can do some cheap spot repair? Or I can back to where I got the film and just ask them to cover this? Or just leave alone? Bumper replacement is too expensive for this kind of thing but I want to fix it if I can and if it doesn’t cost too much. Bought this car new in September , 8500 miles but had this happen the other day…. Suggestions? I do not want to fix it myself I am not handy at all submitted by Any-Afternoon3310 to Autobody [link] [comments] |
2023.05.05 21:42 1saltymf Looking for a good paint job for my car in the DMV
I own a 2012 bmw 5 series and I was looking into getting a full body paint job (same color, black metallic). It has a few scratches here and there but overall I'd like a higher quality paint than manufacturer.
Was hoping to get some recommendations on body shops etc that I could do this for me. Yelp has so many options with good reviews so I figured id try to get a more personal rec.
Im in Montgomery County. Avoiding Maaco.

2023.05.05 04:55 jellyjack Cheap car paint job on Oahu?
I have an old (12 yrs old) Lexus es. Runs great, but paint is very faded and minor dings. I'd like to sell it and was considering painting it before listing it. Any recommendations on Hawaii for a cheap paint job and maybe minor body work? I checked Maaco and they wanted about $2k.

2023.05.03 19:45 Icumed4U Why is Chris spending out the ass to have an average paint job done 20 hours away?
He's been going to Florida every other week to check on his cars. My guy has probably spent thousands and thousands on flights, hotels, food, vehicle transportation exct. Maaco Chris just seems like some average dude doing average paint and body work. Why not hire someone local and sync all that travel money into nicer paint and body work. What in the fuck is a logic of having your cars painted 20 hours away by an average Joe?

2023.04.28 22:33 Narples82 Seeking advice on delaminating metallic grey pain on 2010 Honda
Hi All,
My GF drives a 2010 civic in that metallic grey that you see delaminating on so many similar cars. I know its super common and of course she didn't take good care of the paint. But when its parked next to my 2010 Fit with perfect paint I feel so bad. It's flaking off on every panel. I had a quote done at a local body shop and it was almost more than the car is worth.
I used to be a mechanic and worked in a body shop for a few years. I'd absolutely try to respray this myself but I no longer have an indoor space to do this. We thought about wrapping it but the amount of prep work to just get the wrap to stick would be the same as a paint job. We've also considered Maaco but don't really trust them. I've even considered boiled linseed oil but she's worried the car will burst into flames in the sun lol.
I don't know any independent painters and have heard horror stories about dealing with ones that you don't know personally. What would you fine people suggest I do? She doesn't care if it looks perfect. Anything is better than this.

2023.04.26 07:20 itsricecakes Anyone in SoCal have a good paint shop?
Just dumping all my questions here tonight, lol. I’m looking to get my third gen resprayed but I want to get it done right. We’ve taken cars to Maaco before and within a year, the clear coat is already failing/chipping off. My third gen was sprayed by them a few years back before I bought it, and aside from the clear chipping off, they did a generally shitty job. Paint drops on emblems, spots where the car was prepped but not painted, orange peel in some spots, etc.
I’m in SoCal, local to riverside. I’m curious to hear some shop recommendations.
Thanks in advance.

2023.04.24 00:28 Chance-Place Has anyone brought their car to Maaco for a paint job?
I kinda wanna paint my entire car, with their best premium paint package. My car would need minor repair, I have one small ding and scratches, but those have already been buffed out by myself, so not sure how much work they'd actually need to do. The reviews for the Wichita location are mostly good, but overall people on the internet say Maaco is terrible and to not go there.
I'm wondering if anyone here has used Maaco and what are your thoughts? If not Maaco are there any other shops around Wichita that will paint an entire car?

2023.04.11 05:52 maximillian2 Has anyone painted a new BMW?
I am wondering if anyone has had their BMW painted, for example, by Maaco, for colors outside of the chosen color selections? How was the quality? (Was it a true-to-match of your color choice?) And the cost?
(I’m thinking of the M240i in Isle of Man Green. But the question is also more general.)
Edit: Alright I don’t know much about car painting, obviously it sounds like Maaco is a def no. But then how to get a custom paint job for a BMW?

2023.04.09 23:11 joshc279 Paint Chipping on a Maaco Job
| Hey reddit! I bought my new KIA last June and hit a deer with 800 miles on the odometer. No, I haven’t broken any mirrors, but it sure seems that way. Last October I finally ordered a replacement bumper and had it painted at Maaco. I noticed slight chips starting last December and figured I’d maybe 3M wrap the bumper to prevent further chipping, but there are so many chips now, some of which are now massive. I’ve been putting off talking to Maaco about this because well, frankly, I hate being confrontational. What are my odds I will be able to get a refund? How should I approach Maaco to insure I’m taken seriously and not attacked for “Getting what I paid for” or some snooty comeback? Thanks in advance! submitted by joshc279 to Autobody [link] [comments] |
2023.04.05 16:58 LunaticLeone Pay someone to wrap, or paint my roof? What are the Upsides and Downsides?Gloss Black.
| Just curious what yall think, I'm thinking wrap, a good wrap job will last longer than I'm going to have the car probably taken care of. I've gotten a quote cheapest $50sand and $250 wrap, smaller place, has warranties would replace anything IF they broke it. Other side is $730 for Maaco painting, the whole process and all their warrantees. I'm not a grown adult and I do not work full time. My mom who I've lived with my whole life helped me buy the car and for some reason really wants to get my roof done because she doesn't like how it looks. 2023.03.29 14:51 Better_Cable_1694 2012 Civic Si
| 2012 Civic Si A few days ago I’ve hit a new milestone on this tank. 200,000 miles. Original motor, dam near bone stock everything only mod is a DC Short Ram intake. Other than that it’s been running good. I’ve purchased the vehicle on December 10, 2016 and til this day it’s still running. Had some maintenance that needed to be done in its earlier days but nothing crazy. Also when I purchased the vehicle it had about 48,000 miles on it previously owned by 2 others before me. So in a 7 year span these are the things I had to get replaced: Clutch Master Cylinder, Clutch Slave Cylinder, OEM Clutch kit, Few batteries & Alternator Things that I’ve added: DC short ram intake, Tein Flex Z Coilovers, Siri Moro short shifter, Skunk2 weighted shift knob, Muffler delete, $130 lip from eBay & $1000 paint job from Maaco. I hope this finds you well if you currently have a 9th Gen Honda si. I can honestly say these cars will treat you right as long as you treasure it. submitted by Better_Cable_1694 to CivicSi [link] [comments] |

2023.03.20 02:23 Camx223 Wrap Maintenance?
I have a 2017 Toyota 86 special edition, halo white. There are some scrapes and chips on the front bumper and side and I've been thinking about getting it repainted. But I've come to the realization that I'm not going to go to a place like Maaco and get a paint job because the prep work isn't the best I've heard and i don't want to risk it, but I also don't want to spend 6-10k (I live in KC Missouri for context) on a paint job at an auto shop because ;
1 - I only have 2k saved
2- I'm impatient because I want a new look relatively soon
So I may just do a wrap. how difficult is it to maintain a wrap? The only thing I've heard is it can ruin the paint underneath and they only last like 3-5 years? Also it stains easily. Thoughts? Thanks!

2023.03.07 18:47 triskadekta Is this a stupid idea? Help me out here.
I have a low mileage NC that I got pretty cheaply because the top was trashed and the paint is terrible, someone went at it with a spray can. I’m replacing the top, but I was quoted almost $6,000 to repaint the car, which is WAY out of my budget. $1500 at Maaco would be a stretch at this point.
So. I’m sitting at work and decided to go take a look at Copart. I’ve never really looked at their stuff before. There’s an NC coming up for auction that looks like it has good paint (and headlights and front seats, which I also need), no major damage, just “undercarriage damage”. Would it be a terrible idea to buy a salvage car from them, swap out the body panels and whatnot, and then sell the salvage car as a parts car? I have no idea how hard it is to swap body panels, I’m pretty sure I can at least manage the bumpers and hood. Has anyone done something like this? I’m worried I might be biting off more than I can chew…
