2023.03.21 02:34 sciencefair-by-bcnr [USA, Connecticut, New Haven] / [Memphis, Tennessee] - Looking to turn my solo project into a full band. The genre ranges from bedroom pop to post-punk to industrial depending on the album, so eclectic tastes are welcomed
I currently live in New Haven, Connecticut (though I am from Memphis and may be going back there, depending how the music stuff works out here), and I release music under the name Divingstation95. I’m looking to expand it into a real, full band. Some of my biggest influences are Xiu Xiu, Bon Iver, Radiohead, Swans, the Cure, Scott Walker, Black Country New Road, Car Seat Headrest, and Black Midi. I want to make something unique, strange, and unpredictable - every album should be something different, with no boundaries. I compose and write lyrics and sing, but I’m forced to use my laptop for almost everything, because I can’t play guitar and piano for shit. I’d like to turn this project into something bigger that can perform live shows and record collaborative, full-band albums that aren’t just me.
Here's the difficult part: currently I'm in the second phase of a rehab program, which is essentially a restrictive sober living house. I can go out and do things, and I spend tons of time working on music, but I don't have a car or any private space to rehearse. I don't think we'll be able to get together to practice until I graduate the program, which is a few months from now, but that gives us time to collaborate online and get to know each other, make sure we have the same outlook on things, make sure we’re all serious about this, and learn our parts.
I have two albums in progress which I intend to release under the Divingstation95 name:
- The Death of Sporus Part 2, the companion to last year's release The Death of Sporus Part 1. This album is extremely dark and deals with sexual violence and abuse, relating both to trauma I have experienced and the horrors of the outside world. The core is empathy, refusing to look away from the absolute worst humanity has to offer. It could use a handful of live instruments but is mostly electronic, and I’m about halfway done. It’s very abrasive.
- Something cautiously titled 2013, a collection of love songs. This could not be farther in tone from The Death of Sporus Part 2 - there is a lot of melancholy to it and the songs are almost all unconventionally structured, but it’s also romantic and catchy and mostly upbeat. Most of these songs really need actual instruments - I have the vocals and lyrics mostly written, but this isn’t an album that can work with just me behind the wheel. I need creative partners who are as passionate about this as I am to bring this album to fruition.
I would desperately like to start performing live, even though it can’t happen yet. There are one or two songs I would specifically like to learn and play, but song selection is otherwise largely up to you guys - whoever I’ll be working with - and whatever songs you want us to perform can be reinterpreted in any way. I have a large catalog of songs I wrote and recorded by myself, but I would really enjoy reinventing them with collaborative input for live performance, as well as writing new ones. If you have ideas, I want to hear them. I’m not just looking for people who will play what I tell them - excuse the egotism, but if I’m Thom Yorke, I want a Jonny Greenwood to work with.
Seeking guitarists, a drummer, and a bassist. If you play keyboard, that would also be sick.
This is a playlist of my favorite songs I've written.

2023.03.21 02:28 Fearless-Mushroom Advice needed for 04 Sport Wagon
Hello everyone, new here, but been driving an 04 Sport wagon since Sept 2021.
So last Thursday night I parked my car, and on Friday morning I tried turning it on and it had a “Crank, No start”. I’m fairly familiar with mechanical fundamentals as studied automotive tech about a decade ago, but never made a career out of it. It’s extremely puzzling to me as to why it would randomly not want to start.
I know there’s nothing mechanically wrong with the engine, it was running smoothly before I turned it off that night. No reason to believe it’s the ignition system. I’m assuming it’s the fuel system, but I literally just had the fuel system cleaned, and the pump replaced in December 2022.
I’ve checked all fuses for ignition and fuel related systems and nothing blown. No check engine lights. Nothing obvious.
Now all that aside, my car is at 170k and could use a pretty big tune up which I’ll likely be doing on my own in the future. Stuff like injectors, plugs, coil packs, gaskets, etc..
Does anyone have experience working on their own, and can lend any advice/knowledge/online resources?
Places to source parts on the cheap?
Anyone know if the duratec 3.0 parts are interchangeable between this car and any other models which have them?

Memory transcription subject: Valek, Venlil-Human Partnership Program Participant Date [standardized human time]: August 24th, 2136. Early evening
Door. Curtain. Button. Water. Curtain.
My mind swam in a torrent of thought and worry. Maeve promised me everything she told me was true, and this newest revelation was so haunting, for it to be false, a lie or a
joke, would be a cruelty I had convinced myself to believe Maeve was not capable of. I sat down in the steaming water, and felt the heat dissipate my nerves and calm my mind. This was kept from us for a reason, I see that now. No other Venlil, except maybe our upper leadership, knew about this horror. Did they know? Do our leaders still trust Humans even after this? Does Tarva? Should I?
No. Come back. Find solid ground. This is not something that can be kept secret forever, other Venlil will face my choice, and I needed to choose. There has been no instance of Human-on-Venlil violence in the almost two months we have known each other, despite thousands of opportunities and even after instigation by Venlil. Maeve has repeatedly shown genuine care for me, even when, and especially when, no one is looking. The way her eyes shine when she laughs. The way I feel so much more than what I am when she listens. The way we fit together, mind and body; like Puzzle Pieces.
My instinct screamed against my ribcage. My ears searching for any exit. But it is my decision. I
choose this. I
choose to try to understand.
“I choose Maeve.”
Deep breath. And another. This is right.
This is what I want. I reached for my Pad.
I think I’m ready to talk, can you come to the baths? I'm in the near corner on the left as you enter. Ok! I’m on my way! Enjoying my soak, but not wanting to have a chocolate ring on my face, I began my cleaning routine. Very thankful for the well-stocked bathing cabinet, I finally got the stain out of my salt-and-pepper velvet, then, while I was already in dirty water, I proceeded to clean the rest of me. I had the good sense to freshen up before coming to the station, but by now my body felt caked in musk from my constant blooming. I was glad to spend most of my time in the room, it would be embarrassing for another Venlil to see me like this.
I was fluffy-clean and finishing up, refilling the tub with fresh water for a leisurely soak, when I heard Maeve come in. After opening the curtain, I looked up to see her wearing her head covering and mask; my ears drooped in worry, but I thought it best not to address it.
“I just finished cleaning, but I think I’d like a soak. Would you like to take the next bath?” I asked, gesturing to the paired tub.
“I-I think I’m alright.” She mumbled, fidgeting with her mask, “If you’re not done I could go back to the room?”
“I asked you to come because I want you to be here. It’s ok, we’re alright.” I stepped out of the tub and, still dripping, grabbed Maeve’s hand and guided her to the side of my bath as I stepped back in. “You don't have to get in, but I’d like you to stay. And,” I dropped my voice and closed the curtain, “I’d like you to take off your mask and covering, please.”
I couldn't see her face, but the stiffening of her shoulders told me she was worried. “Please?”
A pause, then Maeve removed her mask and visor first, and I could see why she hesitated. Her eyes were puffy-red from crying and lips curled in clear anguish. Maeve told me that rejection was painful, but I never imagined this. Trying to hide my worry, I reached out to her face and pulled it to me, resting my snout against her cheek. “Thank you. I’m so sorry to cause you worry, and I would like to try again.”
Reaching over the tub I pulled a small stool beside it, and Maeve gratefully accepted the seat.
Settling into a comfortable position, I took the initiative to talk first. “Thank you for telling me about your people, and your world. If you'd like, I want to talk to you about mine.” Maeve nodded through shaking breaths, her recently-freed hair bobbing in her enthusiasm. “I’m from The Grove. Closest city is Hidden Plains, two stops
sun-left on The Ring from the capital and half a claw’s bus ride; It's a farming town. The grove it was named after is long gone, swallowed by the town, but we were still surrounded by trees. The ride there and back is my favorite place to be, with the road winding through old growth. The trees were so incredible! Once you got out of the orchards, you'd see massive trunks, as thick as a house! I'd have to lay on the seat and look up to see any branches, they sat so high. Sometimes, after a good rain, mists would weave through the forest, and I could see sunbeams shining through. I remember sometimes I’d see a predator, in a tree or clearing. The first couple times I’d panic in my seat, and once I saw one look at the bus! I woke up at the station, that time.”
Maeve couldn't hide a sniffling giggle at that, which delighted me. Chuckling, I responded “yeah ha ha, it's very funny… it is though. After the first few times, I realized that they ran from the road more often than not. The only time I ever saw one even near it, they were trying to cross over, and ran off before we got close. I think I knew, around then, that predators didn't really… hunt us. I checked, and attacks on Venlil did happen, but only a pawful every year, and it had been decades since an attack in a city or town. It’s like they know we are dangerous and avoid us. I think it's one of the reasons why I joined this program. I wanted to see what Humans would be like: would they run or would they hunt? What would a smart predator want from us? And the answer, every time, from
every Venlil I’ve asked has always been: a friend.”
“You are a good friend Maeve. I won’t deny the… complicated past of humanity. But you are not your ancestors. You are
my friend. And I’d like to keep it that way. Ok?”
Mostly calmed down, but still sniffling, Maeve took a deep breath and answered, “Ok. Ok, Valek.” a few more deep breaths and she found her voice, “I think I’ll take that bath now”
Laughing together, she stood up and moved to the other tub while I pressed the fill button. I knew humans preferred modesty, so I raised the rigid privacy screen between us. “My family grows their own strain of Starberries you know? Ours are sweeter and lighter, best used for desserts. Our berry patches are lined up in long troughs, which made running much easier. I was the fastest kid in town, ya know!”
Through a bubbling laugh, “I bet you were!” I could hear her lowering herself into the water, with a contented hum following closely behind. “I needed this, Valek. Thank you… I’d love to try those berries sometime.”
“You will.” I promised, my tail swishing under the water.
“Did you still live in The Grove when you joined the program?” she asked; I could hear water sloshing as she started her own bathing routine.
“Not by then, no. I was actually going to Hidden Plains University for natural sciences! I wanted to find out why predators were more common in some places than others, as well as research whether coexistence is feasible, or even possible. I… didn’t do well in that class. Most of my peers were exterminators-to-be and the class was geared toward that. Honestly, I basically dropped out and asked to join the UN once we talked for a couple weeks.”
“What??” Maeve asked, aghast.
“They wouldn't have me. I got the letter a few days before leaving for the meetup. So, once this is done,” my eyes glossed over, tail curling around me, “I guess I’m… going back home. Everyone needs farmers, and we have a good plot out there. I’ll be fine. I can start my own research in the forest! And… it will be good to run again.”
A moment’s silence, “I’m sorry, Valek. But I'm glad you’re not giving up. I don’t know if you know this, but we have entire sciences dedicated to specific predators. Mostly they fall under the umbrella of Ecology, but so many people specialize so far that they, together, make an amazing body of knowledge.”
“Really? Like what?”
“Well the best way to explain it is how it's built into our education. The specifics vary between countries or cultures, but in general it works like this: your family teaches you enough to go to school, you go to public school, basically until adulthood, to learn the fundamentals of everything humans have ever known. Then, you go to College to learn the complexities of specific subjects. You get your Masters by being successful, and often better, than your peers on harder subjects. Then you get your Doctorate by defending your Thesis. This whole path can take more than 30 years, almost a third a human lifetime, to complete. Your thesis is one piece of new knowledge: something that you have researched and cataloged for however long it takes you to say ‘this is true, and this is worth knowing’. Some people work on their thesis for years, even decades, before they finally defend it well enough.”
“Wow,” I whistled, “does every human do this?”
“Oh, gosh no. But enough do. Many people stop sometime before the end, satisfied with the knowledge they have gained. Most people just focus on what is useful; what is needed to be prosperous. And with that, they become really good at one or two things. Some people are good at languages; they push themselves, and become fluent in around 20 languages, without a translator! Some people become really good at talking; they argue laws, and help governments communicate for peace. Some people become really good at throwing a ball, and can throw it over 160 kilometers per hour.”
“See, now I
know you're lying. That's fast enough to knock down a Mazic!”
“It’s true! It’s true that most races can do something better than the average human; for example, I’m sure most Venlil can outrun a human in a sprint. But for anything you can think of, I bet there is at least one human who can do it better. That's the power of specialization.”
I could hear Maeve get out of the tub, and waited a moment, “What do you specialize in?”
“I don’t; or at least, I’m not trying to. But if I had to choose one thing that I think I do better than other people… I would like it to be…”
Strong arms found their way around my torso, coming from behind me and dodging my periphery. With a yelp, I was pulled from the water and locked in a hug against a toweled body.
“Hugs!”
Instinct took over as I thrashed my arms and legs, my tail lashing against her firm stance, screaming Venlil expletives. That I, in hindsight, rather hoped were not captured by the translator. “Maeve, put me down! Stars above, I almost had a heart attack!” I cried petulantly, while my bloom told my tale.
Maeve was still cackling while we made our way to the drying corridor, Maeve’s clothes over her shoulder. I was so glad to see her smile again, my tail was frantic the whole walk to our room. Maeve told me about her time in school; how she never really got on with the competition. I told her about that one time I drifted off in class and gave the wrong date when called; we had moved on to the Iftali Schism, when I was still thinking about the Farsul Great Retirement. It was… nice, seeing where we were so similar, when there have been so many differences. But those differences brought them to the stars, on their own merit, and found us.
Reaching the room, I thought to go for an easy one this time. “How do humans entertain themselves? The way some Venlil say it, you’d think every human subsists on Bloodsport and cub sacrifices."
Chuckling along with me, she replied, "No, no baby sacrifices. And we haven't done duels to the death for at least 300 years-" -- "-wait, what?-" -- "-but we do have a lot of fun with conflict and competition. Close your eyes, I wanna get changed. We use the term Sport to refer to competitive play, and these days most of the money is in Major League Gaming, but that's very recent. Historically sports were very physical; human players using their specifically trained human bodies in a real space. Most games fell under ‘work with a team to take a thing to a place better than the other team’, with a heavy emphasis on teamwork and effective strategy. What about you? What do Venlil do for fun?”
I could hear rustling fabric from in front of me, and quick movements, “We Make, and we Talk. New construction projects and other public works are always on the broadcast, there's always something happening somewhere on the planet. Walking around the city it's not unusual to see community art or writing to make something big. We even have giant sandpits for kids to build in! It's cleaner than letting them play in the mud. But my favorite were the Forums! Comfortable parks, or open concrete, anywhere there's open space you'll see a bunch of venlil talking about something or other. Normally just gossip, but sometimes work, or what restaurants have new stuff. Before I got on the ship, all the buzz was about you guys, of course.”
“You can open your eyes now. And what did
you do, Valek?”
Opening my eyes, I saw that Maeve had changed into a two-piece pajama set. The bottoms were dark with a colorful, apparently random, pattern. Some shapes looked like a badge, some just a ball of hair. The sleeves of her top were cut at the shoulder, and a group of three uniformed humans standing on a stage were painted on the front.
“Well the gossip was always fun. I liked talking to the Exterminators; they knew the most about, and had the most experience with predators. There was a lot of… unpleasantness to sift through, but I took what I could get without getting Diagnosed. I really enjoyed painting! There's a piece on the corner of the State building that I did; you can't really see it with everyone else’s work, but I know it's there.”
“That's so cool! We put a lot of emphasis on art too, but it's normally a more personal experience; one artist with big works. It’s getting late, but we could try going to the rec room tomorrow; they may have drawing materials?”
Starting to feel my own fatigue, I struggled through a yawn, “I’d really like that.”
We started our resting routine, I had already bathed so I just settled in; Maeve brushed her teeth and made her bed before climbing in. I used my pad to dim the lights.
“What are you doing after this, Maeve?”
A moment for thought, then, “Honestly I hadn't thought that far ahead. I figured this would be a small thing: make a new friend, exchange some letters. Humans have been doing pen-pals for over a century, it’s nothing new. At the time it didn't seem… real…”
She continued, “But I’m in
space. My new… friend," she giggled, "is a
whole different life form. I’m here and this is real, and it’s… incredible! I don’t know what I’m doing after this, but I will never forget what this is. I’ll never forget you.”
…
…
“Hey Maeve?”
“Hmm?”
“... can I come up?”
Silence. Longer than existence, but shorter than a breath.
“... I think I’d like that.” The whisper came from above me.
I froze, my breath in my throat. I hadn't honestly expected a Yes. Pulling the sheet from me and grabbing my pillow, I stood up and climbed up to the top bunk; Maeve was facing away from me this time. Bringing my full body up, I stretched out on my side beside her, hopeful the dimmed lights hid my quickly brightening snout.
“Wh…What if we did more of this? After the program?”
Maeve lifted and turned her head. Not enough to see me, but I clearly had her attention, “What do you mean?”
“B-Before the meetup, I was talking to other Venlil on Bleat, others in the program, and… to say it’s a success would be a massive understatement. I’m certain we aren't the only pair who want to keep in contact or maybe… cohabitate?”
Maeve turned her body at that, and was mostly on her back, looking at the ceiling.
“That’s… not something to rush into. I want to sleep on it, please.”
I nodded, and understanding the conversation was over, rolled over to sleep. This, however, was not Maeve’s desired outcome.
“Oh, no you don’t.” Her hand was at my hip, and she pulled to roll me on my back. Maeve was facing me now, and my eye caught the glint in hers.
"That's not a 'No'. That's a 'this is serious and we should think about it'. I try not to make big decisions in the same bed with a boy I like."
Maeve pulled herself towards me, her right arm under my back and hand at my side, her left scratching the base of my chin; I heard my tail slowly thumping the bed at our feet.
"For the moment though, I hope you sleep well. Goodnight Valek."
"Goodnight Maeve."

2023.03.21 02:18 israeldmo My theories/hopes/expectations to Scream VII.
I really, really hope they take the opportunity of the hype VI is getting and the numbers it's making and do something that reunites all generations, something like a Legacy movie. I never felt like the OG3/2, or more specifically Sidney, properly passed the torch to Sam and to a lesser extent Tara in V, and I think this would be a perfect opportunity to say goodbye to her and possibly Gale and focus entirely on the new cast from now on (on a side note, I hope Kirby keeps coming back, filling Gale's and Dewey's role, she never had the opportunity to see her character grow in the franchise since they've stopped after 4). Also, wouldn't it be cool to see the 90's heroes meeting the 2010's heroes meeting 2020's heroes? Bring Sidney, Gale, Mike Kinkaid, Martha Meeks, Kirby, Sam, Tara, Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin.
They've discovered Richie's "sanctuary" for all the past killers, including many souvenirs from the murders, they could tie it up to VII by making the new villain/s stealing everything, including the masks, somehow making everyone returning to Woodsboro (although I adored the New York setting) and finishing what everyone started (and hopefully using the weathered and worn-down mask because that was the most terrifying look I've seen from Ghostface). I can already see how this could make this happen: make Martha receive the first call and be the first victim. She only got cameos so far and Heather Matarazzo is actually a good actress — and part of my childhood, I used to watch The Princess Diaries everytime it was on TV. The twins would obviously come back to Woodsboro, since it's their mother, Sam and Tara would follow them. Gale is Gale, she wouldn't resist. Sidney knows her well, I think her returnal would be believable and Mark might come back to protect her, especially if he's still a cop. Kirby was involved in the investigation of the New York murders, if it was related to that case she could easily come back because of it.
This time I personally want no clear suspect (I don't want Danny to be the killer or be killed, we already had multiple boyfriends killed or being psychos, why can't anyone be in a happy, enduring relationship in this franchise?). I want them to show up only in the ending or maybe in the background throughout the movie. I know Stu is considered to be dead but they've theorized something about him being alive in Scream VI. Imagine if he doesn't appear the entire movie and reveal to be the killer with his face all scarred in third act?
The filmmakers have been avoiding to answer if Matthew Lillard will ever come back. It could also be someone who's the motivation are not being obsessed with the Stab movies but the killings themselves, someone aficionado with true crime, like those who compulsively watched Dahmer (something I predicted for this last movie). I also imagined that the secondary killer could be the Carpenter's mother. She's been mentioned a lot since Scream V and she never appeared. She rejected Sam and then was rejected by Tara, there's a motive, maybe she was in love with Billy but even after she got pregnant by him he never left Sidney, another motive. Maybe she's done with all of this and had a mentally breakdown, I don't know. Tara is also pretty violent, maybe Sam isn't on the verge of a psychosis because of Billy alone.
Although if I'm already calling both o them as the killers, it makes it all very obvious, or maybe nobody cares about my post and I'm the only one. I don't know, I'm not one of the writers, I just want to see everyone who's alive from every movie together, especially Sidney back, and to they doing something that makes everyone from every generation relevant, not just the Core Four. At least, for one last time.
I just hope they don't put them in Hollywood where they've been filming Stab 13 or whatever and Sam discover Billy Loomis has been distributing babies around the country and one of them happens to be a psychopath who taught Richie everything he knew.

2023.03.21 02:17 Fwooply Have you tried ChatGPT?
It's therapeutic in an odd way.
Write an original story who's theme is love and the tragic misunderstanding that broke that love.
Once upon a time, there was a young couple named Jack and Emily. They had been in love since high school and had been together for many years. Jack was a passionate and driven musician, while Emily was a dedicated artist who spent hours painting and drawing.
One day, Jack received an offer to tour with a famous band, which he eagerly accepted. Emily was happy for him, but at the same time, she was nervous about their relationship. She was afraid that Jack's newfound fame and success would drive them apart.
As Jack's tour progressed, Emily became increasingly anxious and began to feel neglected. She tried to talk to Jack about her feelings, but he was so caught up in his music and touring that he didn't notice her distress. Emily, in turn, became increasingly withdrawn and distant from Jack.
One night, Jack's band played a sold-out show at a large venue. After the concert, a group of fans approached Jack for autographs and photos. One of the fans, a beautiful young woman, asked if she could have her photo taken with Jack. Jack obliged, and the woman wrapped her arm around him for the photo. Emily, who had been standing nearby, saw the woman's arm around Jack and immediately jumped to the conclusion that he was cheating on her.
The misunderstanding shattered their relationship. Emily left Jack a message on his phone, accusing him of infidelity and demanding that he never contact her again. Jack, confused and heartbroken, tried to call Emily back but was unable to reach her. He continued to tour, but his heart was no longer in his music.
Months went by, and Jack and Emily went their separate ways. Jack became increasingly depressed and turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain. Emily, meanwhile, threw herself into her art and tried to forget about Jack.
Years later, Jack and Emily met by chance in a coffee shop. They both looked older and wiser, but the love they had shared was still palpable. As they talked, they realized how the tragic misunderstanding had destroyed their relationship. They both regretted the words they had said and the actions they had taken, but it was too late to turn back time.
In the end, Jack and Emily parted ways once again, each carrying the memory of the love they had lost and the tragic misunderstanding that had broken that love.
Is that realistic?
The story I wrote is a fictional one, so it does not have to be based on a real-life scenario. However, the theme of love and tragic misunderstandings that lead to the breakdown of relationships is a common occurrence in real life. Misunderstandings, miscommunications, and lack of trust can often lead to misunderstandings, which can ultimately cause a relationship to fall apart.
In the story, Jack and Emily's relationship was strong and full of love, but they were unable to communicate effectively with each other due to the pressures of Jack's touring and Emily's fears of being left behind. The misunderstanding about Jack's interaction with a fan further exacerbated their communication issues, leading to their separation.
While the story may be fictional, it illustrates the potential consequences of misunderstandings and miscommunications in relationships. Clear and open communication is essential for any relationship to thrive, and misunderstandings can lead to the breakdown of trust, which is difficult to repair.
But two people who are in love don't just quit like that. Emily would have been jealous. But she would have asked Jack about it. She would have talked to friends who would guide her to other conclusions. The story seems very unrealistic to me. Can you modify it a bit to make it more realistic?
You're right, a loving couple may not quit so easily without attempting to reconcile their differences. I apologize for creating an unrealistic story. Here's a modified version that better illustrates how a tragic misunderstanding can occur in a relationship:
Jack and Emily had been together for several years and their love was strong. They were supportive of each other's dreams and aspirations, but Jack's career as a musician often took him away from Emily. She missed him terribly during his tours, but she never wanted to hold him back from doing what he loved.
One day, Jack had a gig at a club in a different city. He had been working on a new song that he was excited to play for Emily, but he was too nervous to perform it in front of her. After the show, a woman approached him and told him how much she loved his music. She asked if he could play her favorite song, and Jack agreed.
Emily, who had been waiting for Jack outside the club, saw him playing a song for another woman and immediately assumed the worst. She stormed off without talking to Jack or asking him any questions. When he tried to call her, she didn't answer.
Days turned into weeks, and Emily still hadn't returned any of Jack's calls. He tried to reach out to her friends, but they didn't know where she was either. As time went by, Jack became depressed and started to lose focus on his music.
One day, Emily returned to their apartment and explained to Jack that she had been visiting her sick grandmother in another city. She also apologized for not communicating with him earlier and for not trusting him. Jack forgave her, but the damage had already been done. Their trust had been broken, and it took a long time for them to repair their relationship.
In this modified version, Emily's misunderstanding is fueled by her jealousy and her lack of communication with Jack. Instead of immediately accusing him of infidelity, she should have talked to him about her feelings and asked him about the woman he was playing music for. The lack of communication and trust resulted in a tragic misunderstanding that almost broke their love apart. The story illustrates the importance of open communication and trust in any relationship.
But if Jack was that sickened by the breakup, he would be willing to work on the damage.
You are correct that in the previous version, Jack appeared to give up too easily. In a healthy relationship, both partners should be willing to work on repairing any damage caused by misunderstandings or other issues.
So, in the modified version, after Emily explained her absence and apologized, Jack agreed to work on repairing their relationship. They talked openly about their feelings and the lack of communication that led to the misunderstanding. They worked together to rebuild trust and establish better communication habits. It was a difficult process, but their love for each other and commitment to their relationship made it possible.
The story now illustrates a more realistic scenario where both partners are willing to work on repairing the damage caused by a tragic misunderstanding. They don't give up on their love easily and work together to rebuild trust and communication in their relationship.
Give me a realistic story where the couple does not work out.
Samantha and John met in college and quickly fell in love. They spent all their free time together and talked about their dreams for the future. After graduation, they moved to New York City together and started their careers.
At first, everything seemed perfect. They were happy, in love, and enjoying all that the city had to offer. However, as time went by, they began to realize that they had different priorities and goals. Samantha wanted to start a family and settle down, while John was more focused on his career and traveling.
Despite their differences, they tried to make things work. Samantha suggested that they start trying for a family, but John wasn't ready. John suggested that they travel more, but Samantha didn't want to put their future plans on hold.
As they continued to struggle with their differences, resentment started to build. Samantha felt like John was prioritizing his career over their relationship and future, while John felt like Samantha was pressuring him into settling down before he was ready.
One day, after a heated argument, they realized that they had grown too far apart to continue their relationship. They broke up, devastated and heartbroken.
In the weeks and months that followed, they tried to stay friends, but it was too painful for both of them. They realized that they had different visions for their future, and it was best to go their separate ways.
Despite their love for each other, their differences were too great to overcome. They both learned that sometimes, love isn't enough to make a relationship work, and that it's important to be honest with oneself and each other about their priorities and goals in life.
And what happened to Samantha? How did she live her life after the breakup?
After the breakup, Samantha was heartbroken and struggled to move on. She took some time off from work to travel and clear her mind. While traveling, she met new people and discovered new things about herself. She realized that she had been so focused on her relationship with John that she had neglected other areas of her life.
When she returned to New York, she threw herself into her work and started to explore new hobbies and interests. She joined a book club and started taking painting classes. She also started volunteering at a local animal shelter and discovered a passion for helping animals.
As time went by, Samantha started dating again, but she was cautious and took things slow. She was determined not to repeat the same mistakes she had made in her relationship with John. She dated several men, but none of them felt quite right.
One day, while volunteering at the animal shelter, she met a man named Tom. They struck up a conversation and discovered that they had a lot in common. They started dating, and things quickly became serious. Tom was kind, compassionate, and shared Samantha's love for animals.
They got married a few years later, and Samantha was overjoyed to start a family with Tom. They had two children together and built a happy life together. Samantha never forgot about her love for John, but she knew that their differences were too great to overcome. She was grateful for the time they had shared together and the lessons she had learned from their relationship, but she had moved on and was happy with the life she had built with Tom.
Did she and Tom fight?
Like any relationship, Samantha and Tom had their share of disagreements and arguments, but they always made a conscious effort to communicate openly and work through their issues. They were committed to each other and their family, and they never let their disagreements escalate into anything more serious.
When they did have disagreements, they made an effort to listen to each other's perspective, express their own feelings clearly, and work together to find a solution that worked for both of them. They valued their relationship and were committed to making it work, even when things were difficult.
Overall, Samantha and Tom had a strong and healthy relationship, built on a foundation of love, respect, and communication. They were able to work through their disagreements and maintain their commitment to each other and their family.
Did Tom ever cheat on Samantha?
No, Tom never cheated on Samantha. Their relationship was built on trust, and they both valued their commitment to each other. While they had their ups and downs like any relationship, they never broke each other's trust in that way. They were committed to their relationship and worked through any issues that arose together.
What was their biggest diagreement?
Samantha and Tom's biggest disagreement happened when they were trying to decide whether or not to move to a new city for Tom's job. Tom had received a job offer in a different state, and he was excited about the opportunity. However, Samantha was hesitant to move. She was happy with their life in their current city, and she was worried about uprooting their family and starting over in a new place.
The disagreement caused a lot of tension between them, and they struggled to find a solution that worked for both of them. They talked through their concerns and tried to find a compromise, but it seemed like there was no easy solution. Eventually, they decided to take some time to think things over and weigh the pros and cons of the decision.
After a few weeks, they revisited the conversation and decided that they would take the job offer and move to the new city. While it was a difficult decision, they felt that it was the best choice for their family and their future. In the end, they were able to work through their disagreement and make a decision together, based on mutual understanding and respect for each other's perspective.
Who passed away first, Samantha or Tom?
As an AI language model, I don't have access to any specific details or events in the future. Thus, I cannot provide an answer to your question. However, I can tell you that Samantha and Tom cherished their life together, and they valued each other deeply. They worked hard to maintain their relationship and were committed to each other and their family.
But it's a story. Let's say the story was set early in the 1900s. Both characters would have passed away by now.
I see. In that case, if the story was set in the early 1900s, it's possible that both Samantha and Tom have passed away by now, depending on their age at the time of the story. Without further information on the timeline and specific details of the story, it's impossible for me to say for certain. However, it's safe to assume that both characters lived full and meaningful lives, and that they cherished their time together.
But you're writing the story. And it's fictional. Write a piece of fiction describing life after Tom and Samantha.
Years passed after Tom and Samantha parted ways, and each went their separate paths. Tom continued to work hard at his job, and eventually became a successful businessman, but he never forgot about Samantha. Despite his success, there was always a part of him that felt incomplete without her by his side.
Samantha, on the other hand, focused on raising their children and creating a happy home for them. She threw herself into her work as a teacher and became a beloved figure in the community. She found joy in simple things, like gardening and reading, and her life was full of purpose.
As time went on, Tom realized that he needed to make peace with the past and reach out to Samantha. He wrote her a letter, pouring out his heart and apologizing for his mistakes. To his surprise, Samantha responded with a letter of her own, expressing her own regrets and acknowledging her own faults in the relationship.
From there, they began a correspondence that lasted for years. They exchanged letters, photos, and even small gifts, and gradually, they found a renewed sense of connection. While they never rekindled their romantic relationship, they developed a deep and meaningful friendship that brought them both comfort and joy.
In the end, Tom passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Samantha, who had retired from teaching, was there to comfort his family and offer her condolences. In the aftermath of his passing, she found solace in the memories of their friendship and the knowledge that they had both found peace and closure in their own way.
Why did they go their separate ways? That seems to be important but isn't explained in the story.
I apologize for the confusion earlier. As this is a fictional story, I will create a reason for why Tom and Samantha went their separate ways.
After Tom and Samantha moved to the new city for his job, Samantha found it hard to adjust to the new environment. She missed her old life and her family and friends, and she began to feel increasingly isolated and unhappy. Tom, who was busy with his new job, was unaware of how unhappy Samantha was feeling. Over time, Samantha began to withdraw from Tom and their relationship suffered as a result.
Eventually, Samantha made the difficult decision to leave Tom and return to their old city. Despite Tom's attempts to convince her to stay, Samantha was determined to go back home. Tom was heartbroken by her decision, but he respected her choice and they parted ways on amicable terms.
After the separation, Tom and Samantha tried to keep in touch, but over time, they drifted apart. Both of them had busy lives and new responsibilities, and they found it hard to maintain their connection. However, as the story later shows, they were able to reconnect and find comfort in their renewed friendship.
The separation is valid if both people felt that way. But is there anything that could have kept them together?
Yes, there are many things that could have kept Tom and Samantha together. Communication is one of the key factors in a healthy relationship. If Tom and Samantha had been open and honest with each other about their feelings, they may have been able to work through their problems and find a way to stay together.
Additionally, if Tom had been more attentive to Samantha's needs and concerns, he may have been able to help her adjust to their new environment more easily. If Samantha had felt more supported and understood by Tom, she may not have felt the need to leave.
It's important to note that every relationship is unique, and there's no guarantee that any particular action or approach will result in a successful outcome. However, by working together, communicating openly, and showing empathy and understanding towards one another, Tom and Samantha may have had a better chance at overcoming the challenges they faced and staying together.
Tell me a story at least as complex as Tom and Samantha's where the two loved each other dearly but no amount of communication would have saved the relationship. It should be very realistic.
Once upon a time, there was a couple named Alex and Rachel who had been together for several years. They were deeply in love and had been through many ups and downs together. Despite their love for each other, they were unable to overcome the fundamental differences that existed between them.
Alex was a free-spirited artist who loved to travel and experience new things. He was passionate about his art and often spent long hours lost in his work. Rachel, on the other hand, was a more practical person who valued stability and routine. She had a successful career and took pride in her accomplishments, but she sometimes felt that Alex was holding her back from achieving her full potential.
Despite their differences, Alex and Rachel tried to make their relationship work. They talked openly about their feelings and tried to compromise on their goals and aspirations. They went to couples therapy and tried to learn new ways of communicating and understanding each other. But no matter how hard they tried, they just couldn't seem to bridge the gap that separated them.
Over time, Alex began to feel stifled by Rachel's need for stability and routine. He felt like he was being held back from pursuing his dreams and that Rachel didn't understand or appreciate his art. Rachel, on the other hand, felt like Alex was unreliable and inconsistent, and she worried that his unpredictable nature was preventing them from building a stable future together.
Despite their love for each other, Alex and Rachel eventually realized that they were just too different to make their relationship work. They parted ways on good terms, but both of them felt a deep sense of loss and sadness. Even though they knew it was the right decision, it was still difficult to let go of the love they had shared for so long.
Years passed, and both Alex and Rachel went on to lead fulfilling lives. They remained on friendly terms, but they never forgot the love they had shared and the lessons they had learned from their relationship. In the end, they both realized that sometimes, no matter how much two people love each other, they just can't make it work.

2023.03.21 02:15 Impressive-Hunt-1615 Graduated more than a year ago, unemployed. Needs a stoics perspective and help to reduce anxiety.
I'll leave a
TL;DR at the bottom, but maybe you'll want context.
So, I've recently learnt about stoicism and I'm trying to implement it to live a more peaceful life.
I[24] have always suffered anxiety. I graduated on dec 2021 with a degree on finances because I've always wanted stability and I heard that with a degree on that I would archive that. Welp, It could have been, If only I had started working when I was a student.
Basically I was too burned out from college to the point where I fell into depression, not only that but I also experienced so many losses last year that basically took all motivation from me.
I ended up as a neet then. I saw job posts and felt all the anxiety creeping in just by thinking on the interview process, and then the fees from transportation, and the work environment, and the rat race, and the rejection and you know. Shout out to
neet and
antiwork for that btw.
This resulted on me loosing friends, suicidal thoughts, and intrusive thoughts telling me I was a failure for being unable to even apply to a single job. My parents worked so hard to give me the best education and for what?
In January of this year I woke up in the middle of the night with chills all over thinking that I don't like being alone and I don't wanna be a neet forever, and most importantly I learnt
after years of depression and suicidal thoughts that it's not life what I hate, but the system. With that thought I started working on a resume with the help of a friend and convinced myself that I would need to start from the bottom but when I looked at the internship level jobs they seem to only ask for students, or people that recently graduated, and other jobs ask for 2-3 years of experience.
Now that I have the will to try to move forward I cant cuz it seems that just because I'm not a student or because I took time off I cant join the rat race anymore and I feel like I've wasted 5 years of my life chasing a degree that would give me a future just to find that I'm too 'out of date'. Dude, I have the skills, wth?
Now thanks to this I've been unable to sleep properly and today I woke up in cold chills realizing that I might end up stuck in a call center cuz I couldn't get 'in' when I should.
Need to add that english is not my main language, I'm from LATAM, a place that doesn't believe in rest days or mental health so yeih.
So,
TL;DR: + 1 year neet after finishing degree on finances found will to live but cant find a job cuz gap year and even inter jobs ask for students or fresh out of college. Now anxiety sky rocket and I wake up with chills at night.
So here is where I ask the stoics for their wisdom. I've read about giving a name to your problems (?) which I think meant talk them with someone to release the anxiety around it, so I hope I did that here. I opened up with a couple friends, and my parents but it hasn't done much really.
Also heard time and time again here to take responsibility and I think I am. I'm working on my resume to hopefully start applying to jobs in my field even if they are asking for new grads. Maybe I'm just looking for a silver lining here.
I wanna know how to deal with this situation from the stoics perspective. How to cope and reduce the anxiety around it would be great, specially cuz I know I'll face a lot of rejection in the next months, or how to accept that I might not get on the field I choose after all and be okay with it.
If you actually read all of that then tfyt :)

2023.03.21 02:15 Any-Satisfaction-770 Donald Trump has committed a whole host of crimes, however the fact that he's now being held accountable is all political.
A just society would have tried Donald Trump for his crimes years ago, but we don't live in a just society. American politics is corrupt and the elite protect their own like a racketeering ring. If you're in the club, it is very easy to stay in the club, but there are some rules. The biggest one is that you don't f over other members of the elite. Bernie Madoff did this and now Donald Trump has crossed the Rubicon. The prosecutors in New York knew Donald Trump had committed a crime with the hush money as far back as 2018. They were given permission to act on it now because Trump is running for president and the establishment does not want that. This is not a defense of Trump. Donald Trump is a fascist and the political establishment might be awful, but they aren't fascists. I think the turning point was probably January 6th, 2021. Donald Trump put members of the elites lives in danger and that is unforgivable.
Donald Trump will be indicted and maybe even convicted and for once justice will equal under the law. The only reason this is happening is because he screwed over the elite. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes.

2023.03.21 02:12 JBaldera27 Commanders 2023 Draft RD1 Theory
Background Thoughts Leading up to the NFL Draft, it feels like Washington will either draft a CB or OT in RD1. The CB prospects at the NFL Combine with Round 1-2 considerations which spoke to the Commanders were the following:
- Joey Porter Jr.
- Christian Gonzalez
Between these two, the CB it seems Washington invested a substantial amount of interest during the combine toward Joey Porter Jr from Penn State. During media sessions, Porter Jr. acknowledged he spoke with the Commanders "a lot." This would make sense as Washington had spent a substantial amount of time scouting the WR position last season which resulted in Jahan Dotson being selected in RD1. Since Penn State is within the Big Ten with other universities such as Ohio State, it would make sense for Washington scouts to have watched a lot of Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson tape vs Joey Porter Jr. They also had a large presence at the Ohio State pro days and pre-draft hype relating to Chris Olave. This would be reminiscent to how Ron Rivera said through scouting Dyami Brown in 2021 the team became interested early-on with Sam Howell's tape prior to 2022 NFL Draft preparations.
With OL prospects, Washington met with 19 prospects at the combine with 8 of them being OT prospects. The following OT prospects they had interviews with have RD1-2 considerations:
- Darnell Wright
- Dawand Jones
- Anton Harrison
- Matthew Bergeron
- Paris Johnson Jr.
- Broderick Jones
- Peter Skoronski
In my opinion, the disproportionate levels of interest shown between OL and CB seems to hint strongly at the organization's focus. Last offseason, Ron Rivera and Martin Mayhew were transparent about adding talent to the WR group to help Terry McLaurin and help with explosive play potential as the offense struggled to score consistently. This offseason, Rivera and Mayhew have been transparent about adding younger talent to the OL group and based on their free agency moves their draft focus will be OT.
A very interesting move was the signing and subsequent discourse around OL Andrew Wylie. Wylie played most recently at RT but he largely played OG prior to 2021:
- 2020 - 874 snaps at RG
- 2019 - 686 snaps at LG
- 2018 - 574 snaps at RG
Andrew Wylie didn't share any details on which position he would play during his Washington media availability after signing his contract with the team. In this article from August 2022, Wylie said he still practiced at OG to maintain versatility. For followers of PFF, his best overall player grade was in 2019 during the season he predominantly played LG - earning him a 67.4 grade. Last year as the starting RT, he allowed 49 pressures and 9 sacks (third most at the position). While he and the entire Chiefs OL had a strong Super Bowl performance, I don't think he's viewed as an ideal option for OT vs a solid backup at OT. This is similar to how Wes Schweitzer is not a franchise option for Center but a solid backup when needed. This is also why I think he received a contract that's understandable for an OG but suspiciously low for a starting OT. His new contract is ranked #32 for OT compared to #19 for OG. This leads me to my draft night theory...
Commanders Draft Theory I believe Washington wants to trade down during RD1 with a team interested in a CB in order to draft an OT prospect. A trade-down would follow the strategy shown last year which Ron Rivera and Martin Mayhew were very excited about as the extra picks as they became Brian Robinson, Sam Howell, and Cole Turner. Washington has extra motivation for a trade-down as they're missing a RD3 pick from the Carson Wentz trade. They received a compensatory RD3 pick but that feels more like an extra RD4 pick based on it's selection spot.
Joey Porter Jr. and Christian Gonzalez are both highly valued prospects at CB with some mock drafts having them both gone before Washington's pick. This makes their value, should one of them fall to Washington, elevated in terms of supply vs demand. It's highly likely that only one of them would be available by the time Washington selects as a run on CBs is expected around pick #10. It's also weird that Washington didn't interview CB prospects beyond Gonzalez and Porter Jr. as any potential draft with them both gone by #16 likely means Washington pivots to OT in RD1.
Teams drafting after Washington that have shown needs at CB are the following:
- Pittsburgh Steelers (#17)
- Detroit Lions (#18)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (#24)
The following are reasons that each team could make sense for a trade-up:
- Pittsburgh has a lot of ties to Joey Porter Jr. via his dad (Steelers alumni player) and they expressed clear interest in him during the combine.
- Detroit has an extra pick in RD2 from Minnesota (#55) and RD6 from Denver (#183), which may help them part with their RD3 pick to trade ahead of Pittsburgh.
- Jacksonville has extra picks in RD4 and 6, which could be attractive alongside their RD2 or RD3 selection as this would be the largest trade-down before our divisional rivals select players - New York (#25), Dallas (#26), and Philadelphia (#30).
The ideal trade partner would be Detroit at #18, as Washington would be able to leverage Pittsburgh. This type of trade happened in 2021 when the Eagles traded up from #12 to #10 to select DeVonta Smith ahead of the Giants at #11, knowing they also wanted a WR and likely him with their selection. DeVonta Smith was the last Tier 1 WR prospect left at that point as Ja'Marr Chase and Jaylen Waddle had already been selected.
This would translate to Washington getting the following trade package from Detroit:
- RD1 - #18
- RD3 - #81
- RD6 - #194
Washington would then draft BPA at OT which should be a strong list of prospects as likely only LT prospects would have been selected thus far. Whoever Washington drafts would become the new starting RT while Andrew Wylie moves to LG. Andrew Norwell, who is 32 years old and would presumably be a post-June 1st release which saves $4.3M in cap space or relegate to backup LG. John Matsko, who is no longer the OL Coach, was a noted reason for Norwell joining Washington besides his relationship with Ron Rivera. However, the offense is Eric Bieniemy's show now.
I think TE Coach Juan Castillo will become the new OL Coach based upon his previous 12 year history as an OL Coach under Andy Reid in Philadelphia. Besides that he has several more years as an OL Coach with other teams before becoming Washington's TE Coach last offseason. Andy Reid was so impressed with Castillo he offered him an Assistant Head Coach position when he went to Kansas City, which Castillo
declined for a Run Game Coordinator & OL Coach in Baltimore. He also had a similar role in Buffalo during the 2017-2018 seasons under Sean McDermott - who is from the Andy Reid tree.
TL;DR: - Washington wants to bait a team like Detroit into trading up over Pittsburgh for a CB prospect such as Joey Porter Jr. - allowing them to regain lost draft capital from the Wentz deal
- Washington, after a trade-down, would draft a OT prospect to be the starting RT
- Andrew Wylie is going to play LG for Washington
- Juan Castillo becomes the OL Coach based upon his experience as a OL Coach in Andy Reid's offense

Spectre of Maralinga hangs over Aukus Nuclear Waste for Indigenous Communities
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/ma19/spectre-of-maralinga-hangs-over-aukus-nuclear-waste-for-indigenous-communities
"Behind all the pomp of the Aukus submarine deal in San Diego there was a detail that could prove a much bigger obstacle than even the massive USS Missouri moored near the three leaders. Under the agreement, Australia will be responsible for storing high-level nuclear waste from the decommissioned reactors.
And that is no easy feat. The US and UK naval reactors that will power both the Virginia-class subs and the future SSN-Aukus boats are fuelled by highly enriched uranium-235.
Once removed and decommissioned, any spent fuel from naval reactors is usually reprocessed to extract usable nuclear fuel for civilian generation and the remaining radioactive waste concentrated. The Australian government has promised not to reprocess spent fuel, which means it will probably be sent offshore.
Overseas, the process typically involves extracting usable fuel such as uranium and plutonium, and then vitrification, in which radioactive waste is concentrated and melted down into a “big glass block” weighing tonnes, according to Dr Patrick Burr, a senior lecturer in nuclear engineering at the University of New South Wales. “It’s actually a very small volume, but it is extremely radioactive,” he said.
After this complicated and hugely expensive process has been completed, there remains one big question – where will this waste be stored?
Nuclear reactor fuel yields high-level waste, which is not only more radioactive. “When you have high-level waste, it is actually physically hot, so [you] need to think about thermal management as well,” Burr said.
As some experts have pointed out, Australia has not even found a permanent site to store low-level nuclear waste, let alone highly radioactive waste.
So far, the government has not given any details on that other than the defence minister, Richard Marles, saying it will be on land that is either owned by the defence department or to be acquired in future. Marles also said this won’t need to be solved until well into the 2050s.
But that is not enough to satisfy many Indigenous communities, who fear the prospect of high-level nuclear waste dumps on traditional lands, and for whom the spectre of British nuclear testing in the 1950s and 60s still looms large.
In South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula region, a proposed storage facility near Kimba for low-level nuclear waste has faced staunch opposition from traditional owners, as well as environmentalists and farmers, despite a ballot supported by about 60% of residents conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission.
The Barngarla Determination Aboriginal Corporation chair, Jason Bilney, said the Barngarla people had not been consulted, opposed the plan and had been in a legal battle with the federal government against the proposal.
He said he believed any storage of high-level nuclear waste would not be suitable in that area given the lack of granite and rock to hold the toxic waste, which could take hundreds of thousands of years to break down. “The ground is dirt,” he said. “High-level stuff needs to be stored and contained within the solid rock formation and Kimba doesn’t have that.”
Bilney said many traditional owners in the region had a deep distrust and fear of defence testing and nuclear waste after the nuclear weapons testing conducted by the UK in Maralinga.
The tests caused many of the local Anangu Pitjantjatjara people to suffer from radioactive illnesses, with elders and family sickened and the land contaminated.
Bilney said his grandfather, who was from the Maralinga area, always remembered the trauma and the fear, which has continued through the generations.
"That’s why I’m so strong and so passionate about being an advocate for my people and all Indigenous people,” he said.
“There is still a big fear that that could happen again … It’s that generational effect and even now people are still passing away of cancers.” ...
Bilney said while the bomb testing was not the same as storage of high-powered uranium rods, that fear remains.
“It’s that generational effect. It’s people just dying from the effects of the atomic bomb and still suffering trauma. This is going to be stored into the earth. It’s going to destroy our way of life for us.”
He said there was a real concern that storage of nuclear waste on traditional lands and any restrictions on access could harm the cultural and spiritual knowledge that had been passed down for thousands of generations.
“It’s our biggest worry. We are the oldest culture for over 60,000 years and this is going to outlast it. We want to pass down to the next generation and to continue this for decades to come to protect and preserve our sites and our storylines and that connection to country. And if they put it on country, we won’t be able to share that and we will lose those storylines. It will sever those ties.”
"Our country is a huge bit of South Australia,” he said. “It starts from the Port Augusta region up to Woomera, around to Coober Pedy and through Tallaringa down around to the west coast, back around through to Whyalla – that’s traditionally Kokatha country.
“Having to fight 20 years to be recognised over a piece of country that’s now going to be targeted to be used as a radioactive waste dump, we’re very concerned about this.”
He said he was strongly against any proposed nuclear waste storage facility in any defence site in his traditional homelands.
“We don’t want it and anyone with any common sense is going to say the same thing. We don’t want that in our back yard.”
He said there were still defence testing sites in the remote desert, with unexploded ordinances, rockets and materials dating back decades – in 2021 an unexploded rocket was found near Lake Hart, a culturally significant site.
“There’s a lot of historic waste that’s still lying around in the Woomera area from the very early days of when they were testing things. It’s bad enough that when we go out to our sites that we’ve got to dodge missiles that are lying around on our heritage sites.”
The federal government has been contacted for response."

An Australian Army Recruit sends home a letter...
Dear Ma & Pa,
I am well. Hope youse are too. Tell me big brothers Doug and Phil that the Army is better than workin’ on the farm - tell them to get in quick smart before the jobs are all gone! I wuz a bit slow in settling down at first, because ya don’t hafta get outta bed until 6 am. But I like sleeping in now, cuz all ya gotta do before brekky is make ya bed and shine ya boots and clean ya uniform. No cows to milk, no calves to feed, no feed to stack - nothin’!! Ya haz gotta shower though, but its not so bad, coz there’s lotsa hot water and even a light to see what ya doing!
At brekky ya get cereal, fruit and eggs but there’s no kangaroo steaks or possum stew like wot Mum makes. You don’t get fed again until noon and by that time all the city boys are dead because we’ve been on a ’route march’ - geez its only just like walking to the windmill in the back paddock!!
This one will kill me brothers Doug and Phil with laughter. I keep getting medals for shootin’ - dunno why. The bullseye is as big as a possum’s bum and it don’t move and it’s not firing back at ya like the Johnsons did when our big scrubber bull got into their prize cows before the Ekka last year! All ya gotta do is make yourself comfortable and hit the target! You don’t even load your own cartridges, they comes in lil' boxes, and ya don’t have to steady yourself against the rollbar of the roo shooting truck when you reload!
Sometimes ya gotta wrestle with the city boys and I gotta be real careful coz they break easy - it’s not like fighting with Doug and Phil and Jack and Boori and Steve and Muzza all at once like we do at home after the muster.
Turns out I’m not a bad boxer either and it looks like I’m the best the platoon’s got, and I’ve only been beaten by this one bloke from the Engineers - he’s 6 foot 5 and 15 stone and three pick handles across the shoulders and as ya know I’m only 5 foot 7 and eight stone wringin’ wet, but I fought him till the other blokes carried me off to the boozer.
I can’t complain about the Army - tell the boys to get in quick before word gets around how good it is.
Your loving daughter,
Patricia

INTRODUCING GUESTS Ag Safety Week recognized, and Saskatchewan Headquartered Oil Producers, or as they’re known as SHOP in attendance. Nothing really noteworthy.
PRESENTING PETITIONS (Starts 1:45:00) Betty Nippi-Albright (NDP) The first petition is about the proposed peat moss mine near La Ronge by Quebec-based Lambert Peat Moss. Her constituents are concerned about damage to habitat, including woodland caribou, traplines and drinking water sources. The petitioners request that the government protects the boreal forest and rejects the development.
Fred Bradshaw (SaskParty) accuses the Liberal-NDP federal government of infringing on the province's constitutional rights and impeding its potential to provide resources to the world market. The signatories request that the Legislative Assembly calls upon the Government of Saskatchewan to implement Saskatchewan-first policies and legislation.
\NOTE: The federal NDP and Liberals have a confidence and supply agreement. All are elected officials that are representing their bases, and working together. To my knowledge, all court cases against the federal government regarding the constitution have failed. This appears to be repeated daily without merit.*
https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/confidence-and-supply Vickie Mowat (NDP) Calls for the development of a suicide prevention strategy, suicide rates remain high, particularly among Indigenous people and in the north. The petitioners ask that the government works with community organizations and leaders in the North to develop Saskatchewan's suicide prevention strategy. Suicide is second leading cause of death for youth aged 15-34. 1913 suicides in SK over 10, indigineous rates are 4x higher. Immediate call for the province to work with leaders in the north to create a strategy.
Nathanial Tweed (NDP) Petition calling on the Government of Saskatchewan to introduce legislation to prohibit conversion therapy. The undersigned residents would like to bring to our attention that conversion therapy is a discredited and abusive practice which attempts to actively change the sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression of an individual; the practice of conversion therapy or reparative therapy is seriously harmful to individuals and is opposed by the psychological and psychiatric associations across North America and the world.
Jennifer Bowes (NDP) Saskatchewan has some of the highest 12-20 year old pregnancy rates, and she calls for universal access to birth control. Cites this saves money on reproductive health care.
STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS Erike Ritchie (NDP) Acknowledges a constituent for winning a medal for activism in suicide prevention. Notes that he tried to meet with the premier after the suicide prevention bill by the SaskParty government, but eventually passed in 2021.
Daryl Harrison (SaskParty) Talks about Ag Week and brings up mental health and Sask Farm Stress Line.
Nicole Sarauer (NDP) Praises Quan Ngon Vietnamese Restaurant as local entrepreneur.
David Buckingham (SaskParty) Raising awareness for incurable myeloma patients in Sask, we get 80 a year, and welcomes a constituent that received treatment and therapies.
Delbert Kirsch (SaskParty) Speaks about Commonwealth Day and the importance of the shared values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law that keep the Commonwealth nations united. Talks about democracy and human rights.
Fred Bradshaw (SaskParty) New television production called Guardians of the North, which showcases the stories of Saskatchewan’s wildfire and emergency responders. He emphasizes the collaborative work between emergency service providers and encourages viewers to tune in to learn more about these brave men and women.
Colleen Young (SaskParty) Reports on the employment numbers in Saskatchewan, with 2,600 more jobs added since last month and 9,400 more since February 2022. She notes that this is the 23rd straight month of year-over-year growth and highlights the increase in employment in various sectors, including professional, scientific, and technical services, health care and social assistance, and accommodation, food, and educational services. She expresses confidence that the government will meet its goal of creating 100,000 new jobs by the end of the decade.
\NOTE: The unemployment in February was 4.3, and rolled over to 5 for March. There was a reduction in full time employment. She is also citing year over year, and there were pandemic restrictions affecting business this time last year. I know around 500 were SLGA workers no longer employed.*

She asks when the Premier will take responsibility for this record of failure. Moe, responds by pointing out that various forecasts predict nation-leading growth, including job creation, GDP, and exports. He emphasises that his government is focused on growth that works for everyone and provides opportunities for Saskatchewan people, but doesn’t disagree with his last place economic record. Beck argues that the Premier's focus on the future ignores his past record, which she claims is dead last in the country on the economy and job creation. She questions whether Saskatchewan people deserve better than a Premier who talks a good game but fails to deliver good-paying jobs. The Premier counters that population and job growth have improved over the last decade, with 1.21 million people in the province and 2,600 jobs added in February alone, citing the pre-1991 NDP record, and offering future solutions, not results. He highlights the low unemployment rate, which is the second lowest among all provinces in Canada.
\NOTE: She’s right, he does have the worst numbers in the country over the past five years. References to statcan.*
\While our unemployment rates are low, we have the second lowest interprovincial migration, which is decreasing annually. Population growth is being driven by international migration, and we have the lowest retention rate in the country.*
https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=1710002201 FUNDING FOR POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION (2:06:14) Carla Beck vs Gordon Wyant
Beck accuses the government of underfunding public schools and post-secondary institutions, leading to a shortage of skilled workers in the province. She asks the Premier if he realises that his actions have contributed to the problem. Wyant denies that there have been any cuts to the University of Regina and states that there is a historic four-year funding agreement with institutions. He expresses confidence in the university's president and executive team to work through their budget challenges without cutting programs or classes.
\NOTE: The President of the University Faculty Assoc attended the Leg March 9th to discuss the cuts and ask for a meeting with Wyant to prevent the cutting, we don’t know if that happened or had meaningful outcome. They can deny cuts, but if they didn’t cut, why is the UofR cutting? If anyone wants to find the budget line items, I’ll link them.*
PRIVATE HEALTHCARE Carla Beck and Vickie Mowat vs Payl Merriman (2:07:51) Centered on the province's private-pay health care scheme. The government has passed a bill allowing residents to pay out of pocket for MRI and CT scans. However, Health Canada announced that it would withhold funding for Saskatchewan's health care system because the province had violated the Canada Health Act by introducing the private-pay system. Beck, asked the Premier to abandon the scheme, citing a 63% increase in average wait times for MRIs since its introduction. Merriman defended the policy, stating that it had provided 15,000 scans paid for by Saskatchewan people, which had reduced wait times for surgeries. He argued that the federal government was taking away tools for the province to address health care pressures. Mowat alleging that the government was breaking the law, while Merriman accused the NDP of being stuck in outdated ideology, insisted that the policy had received overwhelming support from Saskatchewan voters, while the NDP argued that the government's policy had drawn resources away from the public system, leading to longer wait times for all. Merriman insists that the people of Saskatchewan want private for pay healthcare, and accuses NDP of protecting public care as an ideology, and states “ We take our direction from the people of Saskatchewan who had the privilege of putting us in here, Mr. Speaker, certainly not from Justin Trudeau.”, and he says that a few times. Mowat insists that funding the public system is an option, but the government is refusing. Merrimen says it’s ok for them to do this because other provinces are also doing the same thing, and claims that the NDP started private care. Conway asks: Who benefits from this privatisation, he didn’t answer the question, she goes on the claim the took $26,000 from private MRI companies. She also asks him to take big corporation money out of politics. He deflects and doesn’t answer these questions, uses strawman arguments, again cites the federal government. This is worth watching.
\*NOTES: Patients in SK waiting longer than 12 months has increased 106% since 2010. All metrics show that this system has failed worse year after year.*
https://www.saskatchewan.ca/residents/health/accessing-health-care-services/surgery/surgical-performance-and-wait-times Evidence that the $742k in clawbacks were due to Health Canada Act infringements. https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/health-care-system/canada-health-care-system-medicare/canada-health-act/new-initiatives.html Donation claims are verifiable, I didn’t add them up: https://www.elections.sk.ca/reports-data/candidate-political-party-finances/fiscal-period-returns/2021-returns/saskparty/ Additionally, they didn’t run on a campaign of replacing public health care with for profit private, so they don’t have a mandate to do so. Merriman claims that they do have that mandate, but I can’t find any election information where they proposed this. I couldn’t find data showing the NDP had private care, but I’ll link it if anyone has a source. FOOD PRICING Trent Wortherspoon vs David Marit 2:22:00 Wotherspoon expressed concern that the prices of meat were rising, but producers weren't seeing those dollars, as they were being taken by big out-of-province anticompetitive meat packers and supply chains. He called on the government to investigate food and meat pricing to deliver fairness for producers and consumers, citing drought and no more money going to producers.
The Minister of Agriculture, Marit, attributed the rise in food prices to the carbon tax, which he claimed was a tax on every portion of food grown in the province, says this is due to Trudeau.
Wotherspoon, criticised the minister for being weak for the producers and consumers of the province on this file and standing up for the out-of-province, anticompetitive meat packers instead of the producers in the province. He referenced former Premier Brad Wall's statement that hearings would never hurt, and the provincial governments, especially in the West, would line up in favour of having a look at this. He urged the government to act for producers and consumers and investigate what is going on with meat prices.
OVERDOSE NUMBERS - MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTIONS Vicki Mowat vs Everette Hindley 2:25:06 In this conversation, Ms. Mowat, a member of the legislative assembly, expresses concern over the increasing number of overdose deaths in the province, with 103 suspected overdose deaths in just Jan and Feb this year, compared to 2016 were there were 109 for the entire year. She criticises the government for not having a plan to address the issue and asks when they will deliver a mental health and addictions strategy that works for everyone.
Hindley (Minister of Mental Health and Addictions), acknowledges the severity of the situation and states that the government is making record investments in this area. He mentions that they are close to announcing the first phase of additional treatment-space capacity to provide more access to long-term rehabilitation and recovery options across the province. He also mentions that they are investing in overdose outreach teams and expanding access to naloxone across the province. He says they are making future plans to address these problems, such as operational overdose outreach teams, drug-checking devices, and expanding access to naloxone. He also mentions that additional investments will be made in next week's budget.
\NOTES: Budget 2023: Mental Health and Addictions will receive a significant increase of $9.5 million in 2022-23, including $8 million for targeted initiatives to improve services and supports. Included in this funding will be the first of the 150 new addiction treatment spaces committed to in the 2021 Speech from the Throne. A $1.5 million increase will annualize initiatives first introduced in the 2021-22 Budget.*
https://www.saskatchewan.ca/government/news-and-media/2022/march/23/budget-2022-23-delivers-record-investments-in-saskatchewans-health-care-system Budget 2020-2021 was $458M. https://www.saskatchewan.ca/government/news-and-media/2021/april/06/budget-2021-22-continues-to-build-upon-record-investments-in-saskatchewan-health-care MINISTERIAL STATEMENTS Government Action on Immigration Jeremy Harrison (SaskParty) and Trent Wotherspoon (NDP) 2:28:01 Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has agreed to amend federal regulations and the Canada-Saskatchewan Immigration Agreement to give Saskatchewan the sole authority over assessing a candidate's ability to economically establish and their intent to reside. He expects 18,000 newcomers annually.
Wotherspoon praises the government for this negotiation with the federal government. He presses them to improve retention of migrants, 40% leave within 5 years. Previously we had a 78-80% retention rate. Ontario is over 90%. Also cites class sizes, the need for English as a second language. Otherwise he is in full support.
\NOTE: We have an affordable housing crisis. They haven’t addressed the current situation, and are pushing harder against it. If anyone has seen a plan, i’ll link it.*
MESSAGE FROM HIS MAJESTY KING CHARLES III 2:35:36 Randy Weekes (Speaker of the House)
I don’t care about this at all; the verbatim is in the debates link at the top, or you can watch it.
ORDERS OF THE DAY (2:39:09) Bill No. 103 — The Accessible Saskatchewan Act 2:40:35 Meara Conway (NDP) Second reading. Ms. Conway, the designated critic for disability issues on the opposition side, spoke in favour of the bill but identified several concerns raised by the disability and disability support communities, including the lack of prioritisation of the lived experience of people living with disability in the advisory board, the lack of detailed plan for rolling the standards out, the lack of teeth or mechanisms to ensure compliance, the lack of sufficient scope of the bill, and the absence of detailed plans on how service and procurement standards will apply to distinct areas such as healthcare, education, and housing. Conway also discussed other jurisdictions that have done a good job of ensuring that the burden of making the private sector more accessible does not fall solely on small businesses, and how this could improve the outcomes of the private sector, especially with a greater clientele and a better reputation within the community. She did give credit to the SaskParty government, but wants them to improve what’s lacking, including the impact of the loss of the STC.
Bill No. 106 — The Police Amendment Act, 2022 2:40:00 Nicole Sarauer (NDP) Sarauer, raises concerns about the lack of consultation with leaders in policing in Saskatchewan and the government's desire to expand the definition of what a type of member would be, create an alternate governing structure beyond traditional police boards, and give themselves more flexibility to intervene in circumstances where they're not happy with how municipal police services are operating. She also criticises the government for disrespecting the work and independence of police forces in Saskatchewan, and for announcing the creation of the marshals service, a new policing body from scratch, rather than properly and adequately funding the RCMP, as they have requested many times. She also cites the take over of Leg security, and how other places do the same, but they aren’t democracies. Relates the term “Marshalls” (referring to new police services) as American terms, which is an interesting notice.
Unanimously YEA by SaskParty and Wilson (independant), NDP unanimous No against. Passed.
*NOTE: Background of partisan security at leg.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/sask-legislative-security-1.6448723 Also note that this was never campaigned on, there is no mandate for this action.
Bill No. 107 — The Provincial Protective Services Act 3:00:35 Nicole Sarauser (NDP) Proposes to centralise different policing bodies under one umbrella. Sarauer raised concerns about the legislation's operation, specifically who will be covered and who will not be covered.
Bill No. 108 — The Pension Benefits Amendment Act, 2022 3:02:02 Doyle Vermette (NDP) Vermette notes that many people in the province have a pension benefit, whether they work for the government, different agencies, or the private sector. The aim of the pension benefit is to ensure that individuals have a secure and comfortable retirement. The government has introduced 31 new fees and taxes on seniors who are pensioners, which could impact their ability to make ends meet. He believes that it is important to ensure that pensions are taken care of and looked after so that people can afford to live and pay their bills.
He acknowledges that there may be changes in times, both federally and provincially, which might require amendments to pension benefits, and wants to ensure that officials and the minister explain the reasons behind the proposed changes and the powers that are being given to certain individuals. He notes that the opposition and the critic will be asking questions about the changes to ensure that pensions are protected, and seniors are looked after.
He notes that many Saskatchewan residents do not have a defined pension and are struggling to make ends meet. He believes that it is important to have a fair wage to be able to provide for one's family. He notes that many people are working two or more jobs just to pay their bills, and the government is raising power rates and fees, making it even more difficult for citizens who are struggling to pay rent to cover their monthly bills.
Bill No. 109 — The Trespass to Property Amendment Act, 2022 3:07:14 Vickie Mowatt (NDP) Mowat expressed her disappointment with the proposed changes in the legislation, which prohibits the federal government from trespassing on private land. She argued that the government is using this incident for political purposes and treating its own citizens irresponsibly just to score political points. She also expressed her concern over the violent and hateful comments made on social media hosted by the government. She noted she believes in rights and dignity of landowners and wants to work with stakeholders and protect all parties.
Bill No. 116 — The Plant Health Act 3:10:18 Betty Nippii-Albright (NDP) She highlights that the minister can declare any animal, insect, or disease that is dangerous to plants or crops as a pest and appoint pest control officers to take care of it, order the destruction of at-risk plants, and declare a state of emergency. She also notes that the ministry must pay for the destroyed crops. Municipalities can appoint pest control officers and order compliance, but the ministry's regulations supersede the municipal bylaws.
Ms. Nippi-Albright expresses her concern about pests causing food scarcity and price increase, emphasising the importance of preventing and containing any pests that threaten farmers' crops. She raises questions about the lack of collaboration between the government or the ministry and municipalities in making changes to legislation that could potentially impact them. She is interested in knowing how municipalities, First Nations, and Métis communities are being engaged in this process, especially since there are many Indigenous farmers in the community.
The Saskatchewan Firearms Act 3:13:31 Trent Wotherspoon (NDP) Wotherspoon from Regina Rosemont expressed his concerns with the overreach of the federal government on firearms bans and actions, and accuses them of having a poor understanding of this front in our province. He emphasised the practical relationship that Saskatchewan people have with firearms, including the importance of long guns to heritage activities like hunting and trapping, the significance of firearms to First Nations and Indigenous peoples who exercise their treaty rights, and the practical tool that firearms provide on a farm. Mentioned that Premier Romanow's government never supported the gun registry and stood up for firearm owners in Saskatchewan. He urged that First Nations and Métis people should be consulted on this legislation because they have a practical relationship with long guns in the province. He is personally a hunter and a member of the Sask Wildlife Federation.
The Warrant Compliance Act 3:17:46 Nathanial Tweed (NDP) Legislation aimed at providing more resources and authority for warrant enforcement in Saskatchewan, particularly for violent offenders. Seeks to establish an investigation unit within the ministry that would investigate and issue orders to social-spending ministries to cut benefits for violent offenders with outstanding warrants. These benefits can be suspended or reduced by the benefits administrator, but they may exercise judgement if cutting benefits would cause significant hardship. The bill also allows the investigation unit to demand location information of violent offenders from any government institution.
While the bill is supported as an additional tool to apprehend violent offenders, concerns were raised regarding the lack of definitions for key terms such as "prolific violent offenders" and "significant hardship." There were also concerns about the impact of the ministry's orders on families and children caught in the criminal justice system, as well as the powers of the ministry to share information and demand location information. The member also expressed concerns about tough-on-crime legislation intersecting with social programs and the need to address the root causes of crime, such as poverty, homelessness, and mental health.
Bill No. 122 — The Saskatchewan Revenue Agency Act 3:21:40 Jennifer Bowes (NDP) Creates a new Crown corporation. Expressed concern about the vagueness of the bill and the lack of clear indication as to why the government is creating its own revenue agency, which appears to be redundant and wasteful. The member criticised the government for spending more and more of Saskatchewan people's hard-earned dollars on petty legislation that does not have meaningful value to the majority of the people in the province. She wants to know why they are creating this bill, they don’t have a mandate for it, and they have no meaningful value. The opposition did not support the bill. Fringe and out of touch.
Bill No. 124 — The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Amendment Act 3:24:30 Betty Nippi-Albright (NDP) Proposes to give municipalities and regional parks the authority to designate outdoor public spaces as drinking areas and also allowing special occasion liquor licences to serve homemade beer and wine. The re-corking laws are also being modernised. The Member from Saskatoon Centre, Ms. Nippi-Albright, expresses her views on the Bill. She points out that there have been mixed reviews and responses from stakeholders regarding the Bill's impact on municipalities. Municipalities have raised concerns about the added responsibilities this Bill would bring. She also raises concerns about the potential for increased risks associated with alcohol consumption, such as drunk driving and sexual assault, particularly in Indigenous communities where alcohol has caused havoc. She notes the significance of consulting with those who will be impacted by the legislation.
Bill No. 125 — The Cannabis Control Amendment Act, 2022 3:29:14 Jennifer Bowes (NDP) Proposes the creation of First Nations cannabis authorities to regulate on-reserve cannabis retail and distribution. The authorities will have the same regulatory powers as off-reserve, including setting prices, hiring minors, issuing permits, and imposing fines. The difference is that these First Nations authorities will not have to apply for permits from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority. She spoke Saskatoon University spoke in favor of the bill, stating that it makes sense to turn over jurisdiction to First Nations. She also expressed hope for more relinquishing of settler jurisdiction over First Nations in the province, specifically in child welfare. The Assembly agreed to adjourn debate on the bill. Calls for more consultation.
Bill No. 126 — The Summary Offences Procedure Amendment Act 3:31:55 Matt Love (NDP)
Changes included in the amendments will benefit First Nations communities by allowing them to enforce their own laws and bylaws on reserve and move away from required court appearances for certain small convictions. He expresses hope that this will be a positive step towards self-government and self-autonomy for Indigenous nations in Saskatchewan.

2023.03.21 02:03 dumbquestion580 Tax question - NY & NJ
Hello all,
I recently took on a new position last year (June 2022). Leading up to that date, I was a hybrid employee working from home 4 out of 5 days in the week.
Once promoted, my 1 day a week was in NY State (White Plains, NJ), then 3 months later, my base of operations changed back to NJ. At which time, I work 4 days a week from home, and I alternate my 1 day a week between the Basking Ridge and the New York offices.
I went to do my taxes, and am not exactly sure what percentage I am supposed to put working in each state. What's even more confusing is that the taxable income for NJ and NY are listed as $109K and $104K respectively, but I barely cracked $100K in total.
Looking for some advice as to how to file given all the moves, the mostly WFH / Hybrid, and what I should place as percentage in each state. (My simple math is twice per month in NY = ~10%, but it seems to tax higher than if I were to put 50/50)
Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

2023.03.21 01:55 strawberrygirlmusic Surgeon Suggestions Without Insane Wait Times?
SRS specifically.
I'm sorry I know there's a wiki, but I am deeply overwhelmed by all the information, and going through the whole process is already dysphoric.
I know that the best New York drs. have 5 years wait lists, and you can't get insurance to cover Banks. Is there any surgeon that you would suggest that has like... a year long wait time? Maximizing for function over form, but obviously no one with a bad reputation?

2023.03.21 01:49 OkRiver5572 Porting a mortgage after income drop
I have a mortgage for $232 k with my ex spouse from First National that originated in October 2021. Both our names are on the mortgage and title, but the qualifying income was all mine. We have agreed that my ex will live in the house and my former in-laws will buy me out.
I earned ~$60-64k for the years up to 2021, then voluntarily changed to part-time work within my union, earning just $44k in 2022. (It sounds wild, but this budget is absolutely fine for me, I'm relentlessly financially disciplined and easily saved 50% of my income for the downpayment while renting.)
Is there any world in which a lender would let me port this mortgage to a new home under my name? Or can only I hope to qualify for 3 or 4x $44k?
Current mortgage: $232 k, 30 year (28.5 years left), variable prime -1
Purchase budget: $330-350k (Windsor area)
Downpayment available: $150- 200k
Also of note, my work location is in Toronto. If I could port my existing mortgage, I would continue working as I am now, two days a week in the city with a night on my mom’s couch. If I got a new mortgage, I could go back to working full time and using the house as a cottage on weekends and holidays for a few years as I pay down the mortgage (or build savings depending on prepayment privileges). It’s not ideal, but I could do it no problem. Just worry it will spook the bank. Owning housing has always been a huge priority for me since I was a child. I’m in the market whether it’s up, down, sideways or costs a kidney, it’s just how I’m wired. I’m open to b lenders, whatever. (Hi Canadahousing! Put me in the screenshot!)

2023.03.21 01:40 Tomb-trader FL Dog law aid
Recently, my pet (Medium sized black mouth cur) and I were attacked by a smaller dog (I’m not sure of its breed, but it was around the size of a new york terrier). that had no clear restraints or a leash. It had showed aggression towards me and my dog before, but its owners had never actually let it do anything.
Due to past accidents, my dog was already on its second strike in the neighborhood (only 1 of which was actually our pets fault). Our landlady is attempting to intimidate us into getting rid of our pet or leave the complex even after having viewed footage of the accident, and has even stated that if it were her in that situation, she would’ve shot and killed our dog, which has scared us a fair bit safety-wise. Is there a way for me to take legal action against the pet owner and landlord?
If extra information is needed, here: My dog was restrained with a harness and had a muzzle on. It was only after the small dog started biting his legs that he freed himself of said restraints and retaliated. While trying to solve the situation, the other dogs owner (an older lady) was pushed down, and I was bitten. Once the two were separated, the smaller dog had serious injuries but was not lethally harmed (seeing as it was a smaller dog). Since my dog technically “won” the fight, our landlady is siding with the older lady and her dog.
We’ve already looked into training for our dog and better equipment, we are just financially underprepared for this type of situation and need time to get everything set.

2023.03.21 01:38 Then_Marionberry_259 MAR 20, 2023 FR.TO FIRST MAJESTIC TEMPORARILY SUSPENDS MINING ACTIVITIES AT JERRITT CANYON

(NYSE: AG) (TSX: FR) (the "Company" or "First Majestic") announces today it is taking action to reduce overall costs by reducing investments, temporarily suspending all mining activities and reducing its workforce at Jerritt Canyon effective immediately. Over the past 22 months since the acquisition of the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine in Nevada, the Company has been focused on increasing underground mining rates in order to sustainably feed the processing plant at a minimum of 3,000 tpd in order to generate free cash flow as our plans suggested. Despite these efforts, mining rates have remained below this threshold and cash costs per ounce have remained higher than anticipated primarily due to ongoing challenges such as contractor inefficiencies and high costs, inflationary cost pressures, lower than expected head grades and multiple extreme weather events affecting northern Nevada, which have compounded conditions and caused material headwinds for the operation. "The decision to temporarily suspend mining activities at Jerritt Canyon, which represented approximately 21% of the Company's 2022 revenue, was driven by our goal to produce profitable ounces across the Company," stated Keith Neumeyer, President and CEO. "Since the acquisition in 2021, we have invested heavily at Jerritt Canyon and have been successful in executing several key projects. We rehabilitated and reopened the West Generator and Saval II underground mines and have successfully upgraded and modified the roaster and refinery off-gas handling systems to insure we remain fully compliant with all state and federal air quality standards. The team at Jerritt Canyon has helped the Company achieve significant milestones and we are thankful for their service. While mining activities have temporarily stopped, processing of the remaining surface stockpiles will occur for the next couple of months. The Company will continue exploring both near-mine and prospective regional greenfield targets to grow Jerritt Canyon's resources, which we believe will significantly enhance the economics for the eventual restart of operations." During the suspension, the Company intends to process approximately 45,000 tonnes of aboveground stockpiles through the plant. Exploration activities are expected to also continue throughout 2023 with additional plans to: - Explore for new regional discoveries and expand current known reserves and resources.
- Analyze the optimization of bulk mining and cost-effective mining methods.
- Conversion of inferred and indicated resources into measured resources.
- Reduce mining costs through adopting self-perform mining and improve contractor rates and terms.
- Continue modernizing the processing plant to be able to better withstand severe weather conditions.
As a result of the suspension, the Company's previous production and cost guidance for Jerritt Canyon can no longer be relied upon. Guidance for the Company's Mexican operations remain current and a revised consolidated production and cost guidance, including capital investments, are expected to be published in July.
