Just came back from PDC where I can say I had an absolutely fantastic time. Stayed at the Hilton Adults All-Inclusive. It was my first time doing anything like this as I’m more of an “AirBnB and explore the area” type person, but wife really wanted me to try it out so we did. I did go out and explore the area by myself a couple times but just to go to Soriana and Fogón.
Naturally, we checked out La Quinta on the 2nd day. I read all the heads up about the way vendors swarm you or grab your attention so I felt prepared, but one thing that caught me off guard was “Hey! Remember me?! Hilton! persons name here!”
Happened three times, 1st time it worked and dude caught my attention and we chatted some as I just kept walking, then I heard another vendor pull the same play on another couple and that‘s how I knew it was a strategy to get your attention.
I’m not sure how they knew where we were staying, but gotta be cause of the resort bands, right?
Not keeping me from ever going back, but wanted to share for those who visit and just to be aware.

We’re looking at travelling to Cancun over Christmas. We want to do 4-5 days at an all inclusive resort and then 4-5 days in a condo while doing some diving trips and excursions. A package with WestJet is significantly cheaper than flights and hotel separate. Anyone know if it’s possible to change your return flight date so you don’t fly on the day you check out the hotel?

Hi everyone! I'll be spending 6 nights in Ponce this week, I was wondering what is nearby that's cool to do? Any cool restaurants nearby? I'll be staying at the Hilton golf resort, I was told the beach there has a warning posted about sand fleas? So I'm guessing another beach that isn't too far (and hopefully without sand fleas) would be cool. I've never been to PR at all, I understand old San Juan is a good time, might hit that up over the weekend.

I'm trying to plan a trip for next summer for two couples (all 30y/o +/-) most likely somewhere in the Caribbean. My problem is that it's difficult to accurately predict what the "vibe" or experience will be based on descriptions/reviews/etc so I'm hoping this sub can point me to a couple options based on experience.
Needs: All-inclusive, adults only, swim-up bar in pool (I know that REALLY narrows it down /s)
Wants: Beachfront/access, Oceanview(partial ok) w/ king, <2.5 hours from destination airport, "small" resort would be better than a mega 500+ room spot.
Dates: 6 nights mid-May 2024
Budget: ~$4500 w/airfare per couple Pretty confident we can get to MOST places around the Caribbean for $1000-1500 (per couple) round trip that time of year. So, that puts the rooms at around $3000-3500.

The AI will also be educated on Marxist philosophy, so it doesn't make economic decisions contradictory to Marxist ethics. All private business would be made illegal, except for heavily regulated worker co-operatives which are partly owned by the state. Worker co-operatives will only be allowed to produce luxury goods and non-essential products.
For an example of how this system works a strong central bureau, with the help of the previously mentioned AI would be in charge of agriculture, housing, healthcare, construction, mining, electricity, telecommunications, education, retail, distribution, banking and finance. Worker co-operatives are allowed to start businesses under this system in any business sector not mentioned previously. However, the worker co-operatives must sell their products and services through government owned stores or other government owned channels, and the government legally owns 10% of the business. Which means the government takes 10% of the profits the worker co-op makes, in addition to any typical taxes the government already collects. Manufacturing is split between state industry, and worker co-ops. The state should be exclusively in charge of manufacturing firearms, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, textiles, metals, paper products, and plastics. There should be a public option for cheap government made environmentally friendly cars, and computers. But worker co-operatives should be allowed to create luxury alternatives. These alternatives have a luxury tax applied to them to subsidize the public options, and keep them competitive with the worker co-ops.

I am a staunch atheist, and believe in a strong separation of church and state. Churches should have to pay property taxes, and if a government official's religion gets in the way of serving the public they should be removed from office. Religions which openly oppose gay marriage, trans rights, and abortion should be made illegal and the practitioners of these religions deprogrammed. Needless to say I support gay marriage, and trans rights. I support abortion for any reason up to 28 weeks. I also support abortion in the third trimester for rape, incest, birth defects, and for teen pregnancy. I am a sex-positive feminist, and I support the Me Too movement. It should be easier for women to come forward, and it should be easier to convict those accused of sexual violence. I am a big supporter of hate speech laws similar to the ones in the UK, and think Critical race theory should be taught in schools. Hate-groups should be illegal, and their members arrested by the state. There should be more oversight, and accountability for police officers. We should centralize and standardize police training, because trusting the states to determine how police are trained is how we got so many racist and unprofessional cops to begin with. There should be a new government agency to deal with police brutality cases, and investigate them independently of our existing court system. I support marijuana legalization, and non-violent drug offenders should be let out of prison. I support the death penalty for rape, murder, and treason. Those sentenced to death should have the right to choose how they die within a year of their conviction. Their options are hanging, firing squad, guillotine, and gas chamber. Convicts sentenced to death should be allowed one appeal, and have a year from the date of their conviction to prove their innocence. I also support legalizing prostitution, and gambling for adults. Puerto Rico, Guam, Washington DC, and indigenous reservations should be granted state-hood.
Foreign Policy:
I support Ukraine, and condemn the Russian invasion. I think the United States military should liberate Crimea, and enforce a no-fly zone over Ukraine and the Bosporus. The United States should send weapons to, and help training the Combat Organization of Anarcho-Communists to help overthrow Vladimir Putin's regime in Russia. I believe the United States should have friendlier relations with the People's Republic of China, and stop supporting Taiwan. Currently, I see NATO as a necessary evil for as long as Putin remains in control of Russia, but NATO should be disbanded if Russia ever collapses or if the current government of Russia is overthrown. I support the United States lifting the embargo on Cuba, and lifting sanctions on Venezuela. The United States should pay reparations to Cuba, Vietnam, and Venezuela for it's actions against those countries. I support the Kurds, and believe Kurdistan has the right to exist as an independent country. I oppose Saudi Arabia's invasion of Yemen, and consider it a genocide of Shia Muslims. I support Palestine, and consider Israel an apartheid state. I believe Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians. I support the protestors in Iran, and the brave women of Iran who are standing up for their rights. I also support North Ireland rejoining the south, and an independent Catalonia. I am against North Korea, and see them as red fascists who misrepresent Marxism. The same way Pol Pot's Cambodia was an authoritarian nationalist state which misrepresents Marxism. I also believe socialist states with the military capabilities to do so should lead a world revolution in militarily and economically weaker capitalist countries, and do more to support Marxist movements abroad.
Other:
I am a staunch environmentalist, and support transitioning away from fossil fuels. I think it'll take a combination of nuclear, solar, geothermal, and tidal power to replace fossil fuels. All developed countries should be building carbon capture systems, and there should be an international effort to clean our oceans. Using technology to reverse the damage humanity has done to the environment since the industrial revolution is very important to me. We should also be having fewer children, as I believe overpopulation is a large contributor to climate change. Fortunately, I believe the west is very close to, or already has, stabilized its population growth. One of the biggest reasons, but not the only reason, I believe birth control is a fundamental right and every country should have common access to birth control. I do eat meat, but I believe we need to do more to regulate the treatment of animals, and make sure livestock is killed humanely.
I believe Marxists should participate in national elections in western countries, and need to do more to build support in marginalized communities. In America, Marxists need to help socialists in the Democratic Party get elected, if there are any. Otherwise, we should be voting third party for Marxist candidates if there aren't any prominent socialists on the ballot in the Democratic Party. Liberals and Neo-Liberals aren't part of the left or our allies. Never forget what the Liberals did to Rosa Luxemburg. That being said, I do believe in leftist unity, and Marxists should work with socialists and anarchists to work together to defeat capitalism. We also should show our support for Marxist revolutionaries in the third-world as best as we can.
I believe scientific advancement is a corner stone of a Marxist society. We cannot achieve a stateless society until we've developed an Artificial Intelligence sophisticated enough to run society without human interference, and Marxist societies should invest heavily in computer science, and technological advancement to create a self-aware AI to run society, and true communism cannot exist before we achieve the technological singularity. I am also a transhumanist who believes we should allow designer children within a socialist society to improve the general health of the species by eliminating genetic diseases. I also believe humans could be augmented in the future with computer implants that connect to the internet, bringing humanity closer together. Also, a Marxist society should heavily invest in space exploration so that eventually the vast majority of humanity can live in space. As an environmentalist, I believe this is the best thing humanity could do for the planet.

What are your thoughts on staying all inclusive versus European class. We are 6 going to Puerto Vallarta and I was planning on using 200k MR point for 5 nights at Hilton Vallarta All Inclusive and paying cash for second room but I can get 2 rooms csh at Westin for less than the 2nd room cost at The Westin Puerto Vallarta. The 2 rooms include breakfast buffet and $25 daily resort credit. So in essence I would save 200k points but have to pay for lunch, dinner and drinks. It’s me my wife, 19 year old son and his girlfriend and two 15 year olds. Not a big drinker but enjoy a drink or two by the pool once in a while. What choice would you make?

We're planning on going to Cabo in a few weeks and there are two resort types we're considering, one with a kitchen and one without. The ones without are more attractive to us right now because they can be booked with some travel points we've accumulated. However, our baby is just 12.5 months and she's very used to eating homemade food with minimal salt. We've just started to introduce salted food and outside food to her. I'm not sure that she'll have enough to eat if we go to a hotel without an equipped kitchen for me to prepare her foods for her - any experience traveling with a young toddler to an all inclusive hotel?! Please share! What did you feed your babies??

So I haven’t wrote or talked about anything since two weeks ago but I’m here and I want to write about my experiences. I can feel myself slipping away from prayer, I always miss because of the silliest of reasons and I know Allah swt looking down in shame right now but I still don’t know why I don’t do anything. But I am grateful to my lord (Allah swt) who has given me the best experiences in my life in the past 3-4 weeks. I’ve made new friends and have gotten quite close to some old ones. Hadia and I have developed something more than the kind of friendship we had previously, it feels like a true friendship, someone who is there for me and someone who I can be there for. We don’t want to have relationships or anything like that because that’s not really the way either of us want to roll but we have developed something of a brother-sister relationship, a bond that I cherish a lot. I don’t think I’ve been this close to anyone in a while, especially considering the fact this is my first friend (who isn’t related to me) since Kazim that I’ve become close to. Because of this, Hadia has Introduced me to some new people. Maha was someone I already knew but I only hung out with her once but she is a very nice girl, hilarious, and is basically an aunty. She might be a little wild and stuff but she’s also very genuine and kind. Someone new that I’ve become good friends with is Tehreem, she is really cool. It’s like, we have everything in common. She likes Spider-Man, I like Spider-Man. Her and I are both weebs and love Attack on Titan, we both love Eren. She even worked at CVS, like it was scary how much we had in common. I’m very happy that I’ve become friends with her because now I have someone who has similar interests as me. Raheem is someone I met at Umrah but I hadn’t hung out with him until I went to Six Flags. He’s pretty funny but I don’t take him too seriously. He’s a goofball but he’s a good guy too. He’s also a hooper, it’s pretty cool. I also met Maha’s little sister Yumna, she’s 14 but she’s a little baby. I’m not really sure why Dua hates her because she’s very adorable. I also recently met a new girl named Hamail. I heard of her before but then I found out she’s a girl from London Terrace. She’s pretty nice, we both are pretty similar in the spiritual stand point, she takes good care of her soul, as do I. She combines her spirituality with Islam and it reminds me of myself. She’s nice, I didn’t realize we had so many mutual friends to be honest. When I hung out with Hadia in the beginning of May, I had a lot of fun because we just talked for hours and ate food. It might’ve sucked because everything was closed but I enjoyed hanging out with her. Then we went to Six Flags with Maha, Tehreem, and Raheem. That was a lot of fun actually, I really enjoyed that day because me, Hadia and Maha just hung out for the rest of the night talking about life. Then when they came back from Puerto Rico, we went to iPlay America and had a ton of fun with Hamail and Yumna, but Raheem couldn’t come for some reason. Laser tag was fun and go karts too. I also ate good sushi for the first time, that was fun. I don’t think I’ve had this much of an experience with friends honestly, I love all of them so much. I wish that our friendships last until we die and transcend onto our future generations. Alhamdulillah!

In late April, I went on vacation to San Juan, Puerto Rico for my birthday, with no intentions of meeting someone. I’d be lying if I said that was my goal of the trip. I went with the sole intention to have fun with my childhood best friend.
One of the nights, we went out to the club and had a really good time. That’s when a tall, tan, Italian man came up to me and we started dancing and talking. It was like we had met before and picked up where we last left off, except this was our first time meeting. We instantly clicked and it just felt right. He thought I only spoke Spanish so for the first 30ish minutes of us speaking/dancing, he was trying his best to flirt in Spanish until we both died laughing when he found out I also spoke Englis. The night we met, we even took pictures together and those pictures look like we’d been together for years. It was like my soul knew him? I didn’t remember at the time but, he got my number and we’ve been talking NON-STOP ever since. We text and call each other on our lunches/during dinner, any chance we get. We are so similar, it’s incredibly insane. I feel so comfortable with him and I’m constantly having to remind myself, I ONLY MET HIM A MONTH AGO.
(He lives in New York, i live in New Mexico, 1.237 miles apart)
WELL- last week, while on the phone, he joking asked me to visit him in NYC for memorial weekend, and would pay for my flight. I said eff it and booked my trip because although I felt a lil crush developing I didn’t think it’d go further than that. I also hoped he wouldn’t murder me as I’m a 5’1 woman, and he’s 6’1, over 200 pounds.
He surprised me at the airport, showed me around NYC, took me to the top of the Empire State Building, made me laugh non-stop and we just completely hit it off in every way possible. It just feels right to be with him. It feels passionate and incredibly intense.
My feelings are extremely intense now. All of this to say, I feel really confused because I think it’s way to soon to feel this STRONGLY about someone I literally met a month ago. While in NYC, we instantly broke the ice and acted like we had been together for YEARS. We flirted, held hands, kissed and were very romantic with each other because leading up to the impromptu trip, we discussed everything under the sun on the phone. One of the nights, we went out to the club and had a really good time. That’s when a tall, tan, Italian man came up to me and we started dancing and talking. It was like we had met before and picked up where we last left off, except this was our first time meeting. We instantly clicked and it just felt right. He thought I only spoke Spanish so for the first 30ish minutes of us speaking/dancing, he was trying his best to flirt in Spanish until we both died laughing when he found out I also spoke Englis. The night we met, we even took pictures together and those pictures look like we’d been together for years. It was like my soul knew him? I didn’t remember at the time but, he got my number and we’ve been talking NON-STOP ever since. We text and call each other on our lunches/during dinner, any chance we get. We are so similar, it’s incredibly insane. I feel so comfortable with him and I’m constantly having to remind myself, I ONLY MET HIM A MONTH AGO.
(He lives in New York, i live in New Mexico, 1.237 miles apart)
WELL- last week, while on the phone, he joking asked me to visit him in NYC for memorial weekend, and would pay for my flight. I said eff it and booked my trip because although I felt a lil crush developing I didn’t think it’d go further than that. I also hoped he wouldn’t murder me as I’m a 5’1 woman, and he’s 6’1, over 200 pounds.
He surprised me at the airport, showed me around NYC, took me to the top of the Empire State Building, made me laugh non-stop and we just completely hit it off in every way possible. It just feels right to be with him. It feels passionate and incredibly intense.
My feelings are extremely intense now. All of this to say, I feel really confused because I think it’s way to soon to feel this STRONGLY about someone I literally met a month ago. While in NYC, we instantly broke the ice and acted like we had been together for YEARS. We flirted, held hands, kissed and were very romantic with each other because leading up to the impromptu trip, we discussed everything under the sun on the phone. I am interested in booking a trip for 4 adults (me, husband, my parents) for next year and I'm a bit confused. I see all inclusive resorts and some super expensive packages ($8000 pp) that include everything, so how are y'all doing it? Do you book each hotel and transfers on your own or do you just Uber when you get there? Do you fly from one area to the islands or do a combination of taxi and boat shuttles?
I'm young and fairly tech savvy but I don't think I can handle the stress of booking a 10-14 day vacation by myself, including transfers and everything. So, how are you guys doing it? Do you have travel agents (I thought these were a thing of the past).
I almost want to just book a hotel for a few days and then go on a cruise to simplify things, but my parents prefer more traditional vacations and think we would see too little with a cruise (I agree, but I think if there's a place we like, we can go back).
If there's any advice you guys can give me or point me towards a website or blog that would help, I would be so thankful.

I am a 31 year old asian american and wanted to share my experiences with everyone.
Background: i have never been to cancun before nor stayed at an all inclusive resort. Prior to coming to Cancun, i was traveling in Mexico City & Merida for a week and had a blast. Great food, coming out at midnight to look for tacos and going for the thing that smells the best has taught me that Mexicans are the most hardworking and hospitable people on earth. i’ve traveled to western & southern europe, SE and east asia.
Main plot: i booked a ticket to xplore but thought i had to go to xcaret because on the ticket says “por xcaret”. when i booked the ticket, i didn’t know that it would be difficult going and figured i would just wing it. i got to the cancun resort (fiesta americana) and asked how can i get to xplor. they were HARD pushing for me to sign up for a tour even though i told them i already bought the ticket online, then they just skipped straight to “take a taxi”. i’ve read how bad taxi drivers can scam tourists, and as a chino gringo, there is no way i can even fake nativeness with my junior high spanish.
in the end, after a lot of research, i compared the price of ubering straight to xcaret and compared it to the tour price that is provided for the hotel. UBERING IS CHEAPER THAN TAKING THE HOTEL TOUR. in order of affordability:
1- rent your own car. gamble with the cops 2- when you buy your x ticket, accept the transportation option 3- take the hotel zone bus to downtown cancun, take ADO to playa del carmen, then take the local van that will drive close to Xplore/Xcaret. it’s a white van with the destination written in the front of the car in big letters. it costs 25-30 peso to get in. you just wave it down when it’s driving your way. 4- uber 5- hotel tour
i ended up taking option 4 to go to Xcaret and the uber driver told me that uber drivers won’t be there when i try to leave and they will “abuse” tourists and charge 3x the price of uber. only taxis. this, to me,implies that taxis and theme park has a monopoly on tourist transportation there.
when i arrived at the park, i found out i actually booked Xplore rather than Xcaret and i google mapped how long it would take to get to Xplore. it was a 15 min walk. yet no one at the park wanted to tell me which direction to head towards to reach the right direction. they all wanted me to take the taxi. i opted to go my way and walk.
when i reached xplore, the guy taking my registration finally told me how to leave if i didn’t book transportation when i bought the ticket. he explained that i can take the COLECTIVOS white van to playa del carmen. from there, i can take the ADO back to Cancun.
if i had taken the taxi to leave, it would have taken $100-300 usd depending on the taxi drivers mood to go back to cancun. with the white van, and buying ADO ticket to go back, it only cost about $8 (25 peso + 220 peso) usd to go back to cancun.
thanks for reading, i just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else doesn’t like to get ripped off when traveling.

It just makes me feel so insecure, they're all dressed so nicely, they're do happy, they're with their friends laughing and having fun, not awkward, and then there's me, just following around my parents, I don't rly have any nice clothes bc my mom still chooses what to get me. It's almost humiliating and like a spit in the face seeing literally everyone else have so much fun, when I'm with my parents I can't do anything & they won't even buy me anything, it's so boring and they take so long.. there's always some argument too.
I've told her countless times Abt the stuff I want to wear and she always forgets or says it's too expensive when it literally isn't and yet she has soo much clothes and nice stuff. Whenever I tell her I want to start trying to wear makeup she always forgets or doesn't want to help me.
I think that if I was able to be independent and do things by my own id be a LOTT happier. But I have no idea how anything works they haven't rly reached me to be independent and idk where to start.
