2023.06.08 07:27 RecognitionMiddle664 How to Unblock Telegram in Turkmenistan
Telegram is a popular messaging app that has been blocked in Turkmenistan since 2017. The government of Turkmenistan has not given a reason for the ban, but it is likely due to the app's ability to facilitate free communication and organizing.
There are a few ways to unblock Telegram in Turkmenistan. One way is to use a VPN. A VPN encrypts your internet traffic and routes it through a server in another country. This makes it appear as if you are connecting to the internet from that other country, and it can bypass the government's block on Telegram.
One of the best VPNs for unblocking Telegram is CoverMeVPN. CoverMeVPN has over 3,000 servers in 94 countries, including nearby locations like Turkey, Kazakhstan, and India. CoverMeVPN also offers fast speeds, strong security features, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

2023.06.08 07:27 throwaway_u_9201 Am I overreacting for disliking my entire cohort?
I'm (24F) in a small graduate program of about 10 people, and have gradually become not-friends with almost all of them except maybe one person. I'm hoping to get advice on whether I might just be in the wrong, since I don't make friends easily and being disliked by so many people is a big insecurity of mine. To explain why I dislike these people, one of them is someone who says/makes microaggressions towards me frequently (I am a black woman), like about my hair. They have made an incredible amount of mean comments towards me that range from careless to intended cruelty, they imply that others in the program are stupid, they are self-centered and stop conversations or class lectures to talk about themselves, and they even once threatened to get a professor fired for not lecturing the "right" way. They however have autism and I find myself feeling conflicted about faulting them for this. A small group of the others are people I dislike because I feel excluded from this group. I made a groupchat for all of us when we first got accepted, and right away they made another one for just them (presumably for their shared research interests). I tried my best to invite them to things and get to know them, but they hung out literally every day together, and are now close friends, which I know because we all follow each other on social media. From there, I found it hard to make friends with any of them individually, except for one person who directly invited me to hang with them several times. However, this person would ignore my texts and then complain that I never answered their texts, and tried to humiliate me twice at cohort-wide gatherings. They also, like the first person, would make weird comments about my hair, and they tried to touch it without asking several times. I also, honestly, kind of took it personally when I gifted this person a plant, two times, and both times they let the plant die and texted me like it was a funny joke. In general, this person was very hot and cold towards me so I just decided to keep my distance. This brings me to the rest of the cohort, which I saw more often anyways because we all took the same classes. At first, things were going well, but about a year in I started getting comments that I was condescending and mean, which I took as a joke because we call each other similar things frequently. I got called a flake a lot, which I was confused about because I've always considered myself someone who prioritizes not flaking on plans. The reason I'm noting these insults now is because one day I was hanging out with one of them, and had a sudden falling out where this person cited all this as the reason they did not want to hang out with me anymore, and then called me autistic for never making eye contact. They then proceeded to suggest I wanted to get with half of our cohort, and spent 30 minutes telling me they would never go out with me. When I got offended and drove home alone (I was their ride), weeks later I found out they were telling the rest of the cohort that I just got upset and stranded them for no reason. So I was effectively ostracized from all of them. I have distanced myself from all of my cohort as a result, with no one in the cohort that I would consider my friend. But I'm writing this post because lately some of them have been reaching out asking how I've been doing, asking to catch up. It confuses me because I was harboring a lot of resentment toward these people, and now I'm wondering if they still think we're on good terms and I'm the one who severely misinterpreted events. After all, I can recall many good memories with these people, and I feel as though I've cherry-picked incidents here to complain about. Definitely going through a phase where I'm questioning if I've ever been a good friend or a kind person, so let me know if anything here is clearly my fault. I recently unfollowed some of them on social media; was that too much?

2023.06.08 07:27 smallbeanscene Filter recommendations
I’m looking for a canister filter that I can set up in a 20 gal long aquarium. I am currently running two HOB filters that are not doing the best job for the aquarium. I was looking into the fluval 307, but I have a lot of shrimp in this aquarium and several are carrying eggs, so I’m not sure how intense the intake and outtake are. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

2023.06.08 07:26 YourFlavoriteFlavie Two sisters (19F and 16F) seeking a caring "father figure" online friend
Hi, everyone! We're Flavie (19) and Milane (16), two sisters who are seeking a caring friend with fatherly vibes. We know this might sound unconventional, but we would love to find a sort of father figure who can fill the void in our lives and give us the love and support we need. No worries, it doesn't have to be as serious as an actual father-daughters relationship! The point is to build a fun and sweet friendly relationship we would all be comfortable with, you would still be an Internet friends with no more responsibilities than that. We know we couldn't actually replace our father here, we're just looking for that kind of friendship.
We're quite close to each other, and we love spending time together. We enjoy doing outdoor activities, watching movies, cooking meals, and even playing video games. We're always looking for ways to have fun and make memories. However, our own genitor has not been there for us emotionally (to say the least) and we feel like we're missing out on something crucial. We doubt we can fill this void on reddit, but waiting for a more effective way to deal with it, we thought we could at least get some love and support from there.
We're looking for someone who can be a mentor and guide us through life. Someone who can share their wisdom and experiences with us, and help us become the best versions of ourselves. We're very open-minded and always willing to learn new things. We'd love to find a caring and compassionate friend who can give us the emotional support we crave.
If you're a kind and caring older man who's interested in building a genuine and wholesome friendship with two lovely girls, we'd love to hear from you. We're not looking for anything inappropriate, just a pure and authentic friendship based on love, trust, and mutual respect.
We believe that the right person could bring so much positive energy to our lives. Someone who can help us grow emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. Someone who can give us a bit of the security and stability we need to thrive in life.
So, if you're interested in becoming that kind of friend for us and sharing our journey, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're excited to see what kind of adventure life brings us next!
PS: This is Flavie's reddit account and my sister's username is
u/MiniMilane. You can contact us separately or together as you prefer.

2023.06.08 07:26 SmartTalk7433 Blue belt rut; back from 2 years off, can’t find my head in the game.
Apologizes as I’m on the new side of using Reddit.
So as a bit of context (scroll to bottom if one doesn’t care about my life story); I (24m) started training BJJ in November 2018, shortly after my dad passed away. I wasn’t the most consistent or dedicated at first but eventually got more sucked into the sport and finally got my blue belt in May 2021.
I unfortunately did the very classic move of a blue belt and trained for maybe another month and then stopped showing up for practically 2 years (maybe once or twice every month) due to life, moving pretty far away from my gym, and working a job hard on my body.
Life got better and recently moved very back close to my gym. During my 2 years off, I only was active due to my old hard labor job and then about 8 months ago, finally became a software engineer. When I realized I was moving down the street from my gym, I swore to my self that I would not have petty excuses to avoid training ever again.
For the last 5 weeks, I’ve been going full throttle back at it again, going 3-4 times a week and really getting immersed back into both gi & no-gi and loving to train with all my favorite teammates. I’m definitely not as fit as before but I’ve got the hard head to tread through this like when I first started, and this time I am being proactive in learning BJJ inside and outside of the gym in my free time.
What’s recently getting me though is that it DOES feel like I first started again. My teammates are calling out dumb mistakes that I make even when I ‘should’ know better. Tonight in particular, a teammate told me that I don’t commit to anything and constantly leave myself open but quite frankly, it’s because I’m blanking in so many situations and positions.
My coach gives me the classic “just keep showing up and it’ll come back even better.” And don’t get me wrong, I trust and don’t deny that at the end of the day, the biggest thing I need is mat time again.
However, I’m going into this new chapter of my training with a much more open mind that yearns to improve and I’m hitting this internal wall that I’m so much worse than I was before.
I know that like anything else, time on the mats is really the best solution to getting my own head out of my ass and to realize I’m having to relearn a good chunk of what I’ve lost and more so.
My main question is: Has anyone else experienced a similar scenario and how did you approach it mentally going forward? Alongside that, I’ll gladly take any general tips/advice for self-study resources.
TLDR: I stopped training for a while and feel like I’m stupid on the mats. What do I do to get my head back in the game?

2023.06.08 07:26 JacobGamingBuzz So one of my players died to the underdark hole in the Termaline mine. It was my first PC death.....
Icewind Dale has been my first campaign. I've run several one shots before it but I've really been enjoying this setting. Last week during our session 4, dealing with the Kolbolds in the Termalaine Mine I had my very first character death.
The party reached the room with the giant rats, they killed them. The other party members wanted to continue on to one of the other paths but our Rouge player was fascinated by the river of water.
After pondering it for awhile with the rest of the party NOT on board they ran right in.
I tried to indicate that this was a bad idea. I changed things up and stressed that the water was ice cold, I explicitly warned them that saves were coming if they tried due to the force of the water.
I did not give them a specific "If you do that, you will die" but I gave them several "uuuuhhhhhh, are you REALLY sure?" warnings.
Well they rolled real well on thier initial check in the water. I told them they would have to continue making checks if they wanted to stay in the water.
The party was now done with thier antics and saying they were going to leave them and go around. The player stayed in the water and continued downstream.
Well, thier luck did run out. I even gave them some time to think of a solution. They tried jamming thier sword into the stone wall to stay alive. They rolled a 2.
I gave the best description I could of thier character's death. Minutes of falling, nothing but the rushing of wind as they fall. Then all of a sudden nothing.
The rest of the party never actually saw them die. They'd left the room. They only pieced it together after exploring more and discovering the hole and not thier friend.
We play on Roll20 and the player decided to leave the group call and work on a character sheet for next session.
The party continued through the mine and to thier horror realized by watching the tethered kobolds on the walkway that thier friend's life would have been saved by a simple rope around the waist.
Things were pretty sore with that player for a few days, but we worked it all out an we are both really excited about thier new character's introduction this weekend..

2023.06.08 07:26 Zelda1012 [TotK] Who was doing the high pitched voice after the final boss?
During the final boss when Ganondorf turns into a Dragon and snags Link with his mouth to fly off, a high pitched voice yells "Liiiiinnk!" At first I thought it was Ganondorf after mutating into a dragon as no one else is shown during the scene, but watching it again that would make no sense. Why would Ganondorf suddenly sound like a high pitched girl? Even in the Japanese dub the voice is still distinctly female.
My best guess is that it was Mineru, but Mineru has a deep womanly voice. It could be one of the other Sages since they're present and knocked out, but the voice is weirdly more high pitched than any of them. Higher than Mineru, Zelda, and Tulin.
It really catches you off guard. Who's voice is yelling "Liiiiink!"?

2023.06.08 07:26 LxixNicee 27[M4F] Looking for the one the old fashion way(Which is Reddit apparently??)
I’m officially over dating apps and I’ve decided to just go with the flow until I find the one the old fashion way, out in the wild. Figured I’d throw it out here too because fuck it, you never know.
I’m not huge on texting or social media so the apps have really become a chore and I’m looking for someone who’s down to do it the way we did before technology and just go on a date to feel out the vibes with no expectations, obviously in a safe, public place and after we’ve exchanged some pics to see if there’s an attraction / done a quick video call for verification.
About me: I’m 27, white, 5’10, slim/athletic, been told I’m attractive, have a uni degree, a big boy job and currently live in the north-east end of the GTA (hopefully moving downtown later this summer) but I don’t mind travelling within reason.
Some of my friends recently described me as, and I quote “A commie nerd doing his best fuckboy impression” lol. I don’t fully agree with the last part but I thought it was funny and I don’t really know how to write about myself so I guess it works. To give some context to that, I’m definitely a huge nerd, great tech support, have a pretty unreal Netflix setup, and will ramble for indefinite amounts of time about some niche hobby I’ve picked up. On the other side I’m (especially in the summer) always out at bars/on patios, at cottages, Jay’s games, golfing, hanging at Trinity bellwoods, etc, etc. I am truly looking for my person tho which is why I don’t fully agree.
About you: I honestly don’t really have much of a type physically, as long as you’re active, take care of yourself and are shorter than me lol (all within reason).
More importantly I’m looking for someone who’s always up for an adventure (even if the adventure is trying to pick a movie while we cuddle, eat pizza and drink wine), is liberal (I’m pretty libbed up so I just don’t see myself meshing with conservatives), and likes a good balance between being dependent and independent (interdependent I guess??)
Anyways this has gotten kinda long, I hope I’m not the only one feeling this way. If you’ve gotten this far shoot me a message, ideally with a picture which I’ll of course reciprocate, and we’ll see where it goes.

2023.06.08 07:25 VincentDanger Now that the original NRS trilogy is believed to be over.Which game do you think was the best?
Personally I think MK11 was maybe the best with how it’s mechanics and everything worked. It wasn’t hard to understand and memorize moves too because it was responsive. And the cast was solid. Just hitboxes and certain moves like overheads or under heads are confusing to decipher. MKX I think was the weakest of the trilogy in my opinion. Cast wasn’t the best but guest characters were perhaps the greatest. Things are generally harder to do and understand in this game. But it could just be me. MK9 is definitely a top second but not even in a bad way. It was the most innovative and one of the best rosters with a super good story. I would put it #1 but Mk11’s mechanics were so good.

2023.06.08 07:25 Aldys1427 4 Car Buying Tips For Teenage Drivers
If you are only in your teens, the prospect of driving a car you actually own is certainly a huge milestone in your life if it indeed becomes true. Having a vehicle at such a very young age is a rare achievement. Not only does it come with a ton of bragging rights, it likewise symbolizes an individual's growing independence as well as maturity. It paves the way to a more assertive journey. You now have a hand to steer your future to greater heights and way farther distance. To be entrusted with a vehicle is no easy feat, as it also implies the growing trust a parent or guardian has in a kid. To a certain extent, you now have the freedom to plot your own destiny.
For whatever reason, receiving a vehicle should and must feel rewarding. Similarly, the process should be as painlessly effortless as possible. One way of guaranteeing this is by checking vehicle history beforehand to ensure that a car is worth purchasing.
While a teenager will need their parent or guardian's written signature when finalizing a car deal, it is important to discuss their preferences and needs with those who already have experience in motor vehicles to make a wise decision on the matter. Since the teen will be using the car, they must be asked what they think is the best fit for them. The parent or guardian’s goal is to ensure proper guidance to arrive at an educated decision. Without further ado, here are the used car buying tips for teenage drivers:
Work on a financial plan
Having a sound financial plan is the start of getting a good car. The buyer must carefully consider the available options to reach the best bang for their buck. Then, there is an estimation for a probable long-term cost—the series of payments that has to be made by a new car owner not only on the amortization aspect but also on everything else that comes with the car. On top of the price tag, there are the miscellaneous fees from registration and titling. Plus, insurance, gas, maintenance, detailing, repairs and others of note. All these expenses can be a significant dent in personal earnings.
The trick to lowering overall cost is to invest a lot on initial payment. Pay more on a downpayment, and you will have to pay less on interest during the period of amortization. If you can not afford to pay a significant amount of downpayment, you may opt for a shorter mode of payment. Your monthly amortization may be big, but a good portion of your payment goes to the principal instead of the interest. Both options are healthy for your own personal finances.
Another important point of deliberation is the vehicle type. Obviously, different vehicle type works in varying circumstances. There is no one size fits all shoes. On the one hand, SUVs are great on rough roads because of their superb performance and functionality. On the other hand, city cars work well on heavy traffic, narrow streets due to their size and agility and fuel consumption is a lot more economical. It has been a proven rule that everything else (even and the same) the smaller the car is, the less the maintenance becomes. But of course, the brand of car is also of important consideration. There are cars that are very expensive to maintain because of the scarcity of parts and service stations that are knowledgeable of the type of automobile.
If the need is short-term and the budget tight, another good option is to opt for a leased vehicle.
Do your homework
Looking for the right car may take time and may run contrary to one’s impulse. Yet, one must look beyond the what-ifs and pay more attention to the actual circumstances to be in touch with reality when making a decision.
You have to go out and see cars you like in person. Check their details first hand with your own eyes. Pay considerable attention to each car sale post being checked since many of them could be fraud waiting to happen. They are not necessarily ‘best buys’ just because their sellers said so.
In addition, knowing whom you transact with can help you avoid trouble. Being diligent in conducting a background check on sellers can pay off. Who knows, unless their personal identification can be authenticated, their online identity might be bogus. You might want to give them a call to gauge their sincerity before meeting them.
Red flags may not be apparent online. However, the buyer must not lower their guard on tricks the scammer may pull off, especially when meeting the seller and the car face-to-face. It might be prudent to bring a trusted companion with you as a protective measure. Should the need arise, they may also offer a sensible second opinion on your purchase. As much as possible, meet the seller halfway on neutral ground, preferably in a public space that is safe and visible to the public, so that you will have fewer things to worry about.
Don't let your being young affect your assertiveness and prudence. Don't allow the seller to bully their way just because you are young. Remember that you are the buyer, and buyers should always be in the position of power in any transaction. Alternatively, you may also meet the seller on their business or home address as a way to confirm their authenticity. A fly-by-night site is easy to notice.
Test drive the car
Test drive is a crucial part of the car buying stage. This is where you attempt to get the feel of the vehicle you plan on driving for a long time. Depending on the situation, the driving impression can either make or break the car deal. At this stage, issues that are not put into words or unrecorded by vehicle reports at the time of the testing may be discovered.
Test driving a car is probably the last chance a buyer may confirm if the seller were not dubious and was honest with disclosed vehicle details. For this reason, it is crucial to allot an hour or two of testing since a brief driving experience may not reveal the full extent of the driving experience.
Test the vehicle in as diverse terrain and environment as possible. If the seller can accompany you, that would be great. You can ask them any questions that may come to mind. Clarify any doubts you have before you forget them.
Consider safety
No matter a person’s car driving experience, safety will always be of paramount importance. It must never be compromised for the sake of low price. Even if a car has a good body styling and multimedia system, it is as good as a garage display if it is not safe for road use.
To ensure that you don’t go by that route, it would be in your best interest to dig deeper into prospective cars. Read auto expert reviews on the model—review customer feedback on the vehicle and the seller. Subject the unit to a professional mechanic’s diagnostic test. Only then can you confidently say that your decision is well-thought-out and founded on many facts about the vehicle.
Making intensive preparation for a vehicle is a tenuous job, but it is totally worth trying to ensure that the earliest driving experience will be memorable and enjoyable. This is more important if you are just a teener and it is your first time owning an automobile.

2023.06.08 07:25 Spinach_Typical Wood Treatment (Ground Touching)
Hi
I am aware traditionally options for treating wood the touches the ground involve things like charing the post at the end then painting it with oil then sitting it atop of a rock (Mr Chikadee on youtube traditional Japanese foundations).
But my project involves simply propping up a small hedge, the only request being to only use wood, as iron would have worked.
Any idea for sustainable non toxic treatments for wood to be hammered into the ground as supports? Current treated wood contains things in high concentrations which may be best avoided for the garden.
Maybe a mini metal spike tip for the wooden post?

2023.06.08 07:25 cdaisy24 After an interview: Hope for the best, but LET IT GO
This is my advice to myself as well as to everyone hehe. I've had many interviews before, and there were clients I was very excited to work with and some that I'm not as excited LOL. It's just how it is, depending on their expectations and how well we clicked, etc. But for those I was really excited about, I can't help but feel hopeful. Sometimes a little TOO hopeful, especially when, in your opinion, the interview went well. So if the rejection comes, or worse, I was ghosted, I'd feel crushed.
So, word of wisdom (mainly from the Stoics), after the interview, the results are no longer in our control. We applied, we did our best during the interview, but the results are not in our control. There can be many factors as to why what happened happened, but what we can control is our reaction towards them. Learn from our mistakes, how we can improve next time, and try again.
Good luck to us who are actively applying! ✨

2023.06.08 07:24 TheCurserHasntMoved (Sneakyverse) The Drums of War Chapter 11: Second Star
First Previous Next
Below Numiind:
Jax looked over the tattered, gaunt, haunted group of about two thousand civilians as they huddled together in the damp cavern below the ground. A generation was missing among them. The elderly and even the aged held and cradled the pups and the infants. There were fifty new pups in the press, fifty pups who… fifty pups who had plastic tags through their ears like wildlife, and some had thick welts raised beneath their fur. Jax tried not to think about that too much. If he thought about that too much, hi might just go topside and get in the RNI's way.
The cavern shook, and some pebbles broke off of the roof. Jax didn't worry to much over it, since Kai and Mei had said that the cave could stand up to a decent sized bomb. It was probably the drop pods landing. He'd never been able to be as nonchalant as the Terrans seemed to be about it, but at least he never refused a drop. Not for the first time, he bitterly wished he had his armor. Sure, most guys don't buy their service armor, but he could have afforded it. He just could conceive he'd ever need it in his life after service. More fool him.
Rae came up behind him and put a hand on his shoulder, but when he went to shrug it away, she squeezed it tighter. "What's the matter? Who needs help?"
"You do."
"I'm fine."
"You're not. Jax, you're… Jax I…"
"I said I'm fine!" he snapped as he jerked his shoulder away, but when she made a sound of shock and pain, his head snapped around, and he looked in terror for the injury he had caused her. He saw only the anguish on her face. "I'm sorry. I'm okay. I'll be okay, please don't worry."
"Ash talks about it."
"Ash won't talk about anything."
"He used to be a thief." That surprised Jax so much that he couldn't make a sound from his slack jawed maw, so she continued, "Not for a while, but he's not proud of his past. He had turned his life around, got hired in construction. Got married, and she was pregnant. Full six litter."
"Was…"
"Yes, she was. She died when the hospital got hit."
"Why are you telling me this?" Jax asked as he fought the swell of pity before it could show on his face.
"Because Ash is worried about you too."
"Ash?"
"He's more observant. There's a reason you send him to scout."
"Too?"
"Yes, Jax. He's worried too. Him and me. Kai is to worried about making sure he knows how everyone will evacuate if they need to. Mei just wants to kill another bloodskin. But Ash and I can see it."
Jax slapped the stone with his tail and griped his rifle hard. He unclenched his jaw and said, "I shouldn't have let so many buy us time on the first day. I should have brought more down here. I could have-"
"How? Knock them out and drag them all down here under fire?"
"I don't know! I should have- somehow. I'm a veteran, I served with the Terrans in antipiracy patrols and saw three combat drops. I should be able to do more."
"You want to be up there."
"Yes! But even without my armor, I'd be a liabilty," he spat.
"You just said you've fought with the Terrans before," she prodded.
"You don't understand. Those aren't just Terrans, those are RNI Drop Troopers, Lost Boys Rapid Response Division. The training the Republic put me through for regular grunt standards makes our military training look like a pup's park. The Lost Boys make the RNI Drop Troopers look like pups playing in their father's fishing box. These are the guys who read
My Side and instead of feeling sorry for Sneaky, felt that he did the necessary thing and wanted to be that brave. If all of us were trained, and all of us had armor, we could support, but it's not. If any of us went up there, best case we only get ourselves hurt. Worst case we get one of them killed to protect us, because they will. They won't even think about it. Just one, one Lost Boy, made all the difference back there. Do you think we'd have gotten in without him covering us from that bird's perch of his? I know you'd be hurt at least. I have fifty-one reasons to thank him."
"Oh…" she muttered. "Look at everyone still alive. Still free. The pups told me why they were beaten."
"Why's that?" Jax asked as a stone formed in his belly.
"Their parents disobeyed."
It took Jax a full ten seconds to pull back the snarl of pure hatful rage off of his face to be replaced with a milder expression of fury, "Genocidal, and slavers. Thank the Ancestors for the Lost Boys."
"Thank the Ancestors for you, Jax. For you and the men like you in the other towns, out in the hills, in the atolls. We'd have never held out this long."
"I'm fine. I'll be okay, you don't have to worry," Jax said with a transparent smile over his face.
In High orbit above Numiid:
Acolyte-Lord Narrex-Quinn gritted his teeth. He could hardly believe that four ships, mighty battleships though they may be, could have put him on such shifting sands. His own battleship was currently bombarding the nearest of the four Terran battleships with all of its plasma batteries.
"Acolyte-Lord, their shields do show signs of stress."
"Acolyte-Lord," another Initiate-Highborn began, "Our batteries do overheat, we must cease firing for cooling!"
"Make it so, launch missiles to keep the pressure up."
"I obey, Acolyte-Lord!"
"Cruiser five, move up and open fire upon that battleship," Acolyte-Lord Narrex-Quinn commanded over the communications network.
He watched as a single battleship suppressed the whole of his fleet, and the other three sped toward the planet. "All frigates, focus fire on that battleship!" he commanded, seizing the opportunity. The missiles crept toward the Terran battleship as the frigates maneuvered to bring their plasma lances to bear on the massive vessel. For all that, Acolyte-Lord Narrex-Quinn was denied the sight of the Terran shields finally buckling. "Acolyte-lord, if they can sustain that fire for another five seconds, our lances can be brought to bear, and finally overwhelm the Terran shields," an Initiate-Highborn announced.
"How fare the extraction ships?"
"Acolyte-Lord, they need only another thirty seconds to make minimum jump distance."
"Frigates, do not lessen your fire, we shall make them pay a price in blood for this system!" Acolyte-Lord Narrex-Quinn roared. Proximity alarms suddenly sounded, "What comes?"
"Acolyte-Lord, brace for impact! Our shields do fail!"
"Slingshot trajectory," he cursed.
One of the frigates broke apart under the Terran battleship's terrible power, and Acolyte-Lord Narrex-Quinn's lances came online. The gunnery officer did not wait for the order to fire, and the Terran shields finally failed, and hot plasma splashed across its hull. Acolyte-Lord Narrex-Quinn let a cruel grin spread across his face in anticipation of seeing the Terran vessel scorched into so much twisted and useless metal, but instead two of his cruisers and yet another frigate broke apart. "KEEP FIRING!"
"Acolyte-Lord," said his security officer, "We have been boarded!"
"HOW?! THEIR SHIP IS NOWHERE NEAR US!"
Above the ruins of a mining town:
Corporal First Class Linus George hurtled toward the ground in his drop pod watching the last video communication that his brother had sent him. "So anyway, I don't know if we'll have coms capability once we're in Clans space, since something's fucked out there," Robbie was saying, "So you might not be able to get ahold of me for a spell. Don't worry, the
We Sing is a good ship. She'll get us home. Huh? Sorry Linus, just because I'm an officer doesn't mean I get to hog up the phone. Keep the faith, see you when I see you."
Linus let the pain well up in him. He let the tears run down his cheeks, and he let it turn to cold fury before he hit the ground. His armored pod's grav bubble and inertial transferal systems had insulated him from the kinetic force of the impact. Not so much the armored vehicle he had been steering for. The charges placed at the seams of his pod hatch went off, sending said hatch through the surviving driver. He keyed his mic and said, "Alpha blue leader, boots down, team check in."
"Blue one, boots down, checking in," said Private First Class Andrew Lewis.
"Blue two, boots down, checking in," said Private First Class Joshua Clark.
"Blue three, boots down, checking in," said Private First Class Benjamin carter.
"Alpha Blue, all present and accounted for, Sarge."
"Good news, Corporal. Not that they had much that could have picked one of us out on the way," came Sergeant Thomas Mitchell's growl over the tacnet. Our area of operation is civvy clear, say again our area of operation is civvy clear."
"Requesting permission to switch to heavy ordo, sarge."
"Request logged. Sir, a fire team is requesting heavy ordo."
Lieutenant Mark Thomson answered in his dulcet tones not dissimilar to being raked over broken glass, "Granted. Heavy ordo clear for all teams operating in confirmed civilian clear zones. Keep your eyes peeled for stays though, got it?"
"Aye, sir," answered the entire chain of command.
"Nobody go hunting medals, we're out to get these cultists to get less eager to die," the gunny barked over the tacnet.
Linus was already swapping out his standard ammunition block for light armor penetrating explosive rounds. "Aye, gunny. No medals." In Linus's peripheral vision, a bird's eye view of his area of operation showed an infantry squad and a tank approaching him, a platoon of infantry approaching PFC Clark, and what looked like a group of armored troop carriers approaching PFC Lewis. "Blue three, find yourself a perch and provide support for Blue Two. Blue One, see that?"
"Aye, Blue Leader. I won't see it in a minute."
Linus opened up on the tank, putting three rounds directly through the joint between the truet and the deck, and half a second later they exploded, leaving a twisted hole through which Linus could put more explosive rounds, just in case the tankers didn't die from the shrapnel of the original explosions. "Time to go to work, Lost Boys. We remember the
We Sing."
"Aye sir!"
"Don't sir me, I'm a corporal," Linus's team laughed at him. Linus still couldn't find his humor. Hot plasma bolts splashed against his battlescreen, and he started eliminating soft targets.

2023.06.08 07:24 Sirocco1093884 Dental floss tycoon game
Hey, anyone with developing skills would be down to make a dental floss tycoon game where you get to be Zappa or a member of any band he had and you live in for example Utah and then you decide to move to Montana to raise dental floss. The best horse is mighty little and you also have to beat W.B. to send them to hell and put them on towers of power to win the game. You start with basically nothing and you have to get your dental floss seeds from a special place, water them with string beans from Utah that you brought with you. Getting back to W.B., when you finally overtake them in terms of production you have to have a talk with the devil and try to convince him with the little style you got, if you do you win, if you don't you're in a lawsuit with them and have to win it. If you win you get a second chance, if you don't you loose the entire game and have to start over.
P.S. My brain kinda went into full Zappa crazy mode

2023.06.08 07:24 Maxwellthatsux Ready to throw in the towel
I bought a refurbished River 2 Max on eBay about a month ago. Unit was defective with no power from DC and keeps dropping power after a few minutes. So I sent it back for RMA instead of returning it on eBay, terrible mistake. RMA was delivered to their facility in Plano TX more than two weeks ago, I reached out twice over the past two weeks asking for update and never got any response. I then contacted them on eBay asking for refund and they rejected it because it's already in RMA. Again, no status update.
I noticed there's been a surge of river 2 complaints lately, makes me wonder if that 5-year warranty even means anything if the river 2 series have so many problems. Debating if I should just file dispute and be done with the brand.
Is everyone else getting similar experience with their RMA?
