2023.06.07 00:12 2uitch I'm not a power user, but I bought Apollo Ultra Lifetime to support this amazing app.
I won't be opening Apollo for June 12-14 like many of you beasts.
I did my best and submitted a ticket to Reddit. I know it'll fall on deaf ears, but I'll gladly step away from Reddit and watch it fall apart from the news articles I'll Google.
If this goes through, I won't open up another Reddit link again. I know many won't be able to make a clean break like I will, but fight the good fight in any way you can!
Mad respect.

2023.06.07 00:05 wolflord4 Why are Pro-life politicians and Pro-life groups so hell-bent on making sure voters don't get a say in abortion policy?
https://amp.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article275065826.html https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/05/11/politics/ohio-special-election-constitution-abortion-rights/index.html Ever since the referendum in Kansas ballot initiatives have been popping up all over the country the most prominent being in Michigan, California and Vermont and many other states are following suite in this trend but I specifically want to bring up two examples in Ohio and Missouri.
Republican politicians in both states are fighting tooth and nail to make sure abortion does not get on the ballot. Ohio is having and entire August special election (which was recently outlawed mind you) to raise the threshold from 50% plus one to 60%. Ohio Republicans deny this about abortion but through a series of leaked audio and emails it is revealing that this move is most definitely about abortion. Even more damning, Pro life groups across the state are backing the move but not being explicate about it. Even the Ohio secretary of state admitted that this vote was stop abortion from getting on the ballot.
In Missouri, the Republicans there attempted a similar move buy failed and like in Ohio they tried to deny but the Missouri speaker of the House said that it would be the fault of the State Senate for the return of abortion to Missouri. Recently the Missouri Attorney General is refusing to sign off on the state Auditors signing of the cost estimate of the measure. The Attorney General is asked the Auditor to lie about the cost to make it less appealing fortunately, the Auditor is standing his ground and refusing to lie. The Attorney General's actions are currently being challenged in court.
From all these actions taken in Missouri and Ohio and a general hostility to the voters getting a say on abortion in other states, it seems like pro-lifers know their views are unpopular and that their views lose in big numbers whenever it's put in front of the voters. So instead they try to restrict the democratic process through authoritarian means in order to make sure the people never get a say.

2023.06.06 23:54 DeadlyHarvest Rachel Drori estimated net worth of $350m? Husband Avi Drori, Z'ev Drori father.
Rachel Drori (nee Bobnow) had a net worth of $350m prior to the Daily Harvest poisoning. On June 1st, 2023, Forbes published an article on the wealthiest women in the U.S.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/gigizamora/2023/06/01/kylie-jenner-rihanna-and-the-other-richest-self-made-women-under-40/?sh=3acbb02563c9 "Daily Harvest founder Rachel Drori was worth $350 million last year as a newcomer based on the $1.1 billion valuation by private investors of her meal delivery company. A June 2022 recall of its Lentil & Leek Crumbles bruised the company’s sales and helped knock down
Forbes’ estimate of the company’s value, along with lower comparable public company valuations"
Assuming the valuation was cut in half, this would put her net worth at $175m, not counting any money she made prior, her husband's wealth, and what her and her husband will inherit. A video of their wedding, which probably costs more than what most victims of the poisoning make in 5 years, can be seen here:
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4049ua Her husband, Avi Drori, also attended Columbia b-school. While there, in a published article dated November 2008 in the CB letter, Drori posited a thesis where Marvel Entertainment stock should be shorted (make a bet the stock will go down) and it is worth $18.
Cue the circus music. A year later, Disney acquired Marvel for $50 per share.
https://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/01/business/media/01disney.html
Amazing acquisition, returning $18b in movie revenue alone in the next ten years.
https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/disney-has-made-18-billion-since-marvel-purchase-2009/
Does it matter that Avi may or may not be a good investor? No. Avi could never work a day in his life and will still be one of the wealthiest men in the U.S. (even if he divorced his wife.) Avi is a trust fund baby but not just any trust fund baby. Avi's father is Z'ev Drori, the former CEO of Tesla and he sold his company Monolithic Memories was purchased by AMD for $437m in 1987. His Beverly Hills home alone is worth $30 million! Whatever his wealth was then, it is safe to say this smart man tripled it over the last 35 years. And that money is likely going to be split by two people, one of whom is Rachel's husband.
Article on Zev Drori as Tesla CEO
https://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/28/breaking-tesla-names-zeev-drori-as-new-permanent-ceo/ Why is this important? Is this a bad thing?
No, it's not a bad thing. It's a good thing that someone was able to create a company, then sell it and buy a massive home. It's impressive Rachel was able to build a food company all online and create mega wealth. But despite being wealthy prior to Daily Harvest (her name is connected to a expensive property in Manhattan) and despite the fact that her and her husband will inherit maybe hundreds of millions, Rachel is an a-hole. She lacks integrity and is not a good person, her actions demonstrate that.
She does have a chance to do right by everyone. I propose Rachel creates a $20m fund to pay for ongoing medical tests, research, and monitoring of all the victims using her personal wealth. Her father in law could kick in half this money. To put it in perspective, at Rachel's age, even if she only nets $150m from the sale of Daily Harvest, an inheritance of $100m, and this doubles every ten years, Rachel and her husband will have a combined net worth of $1b by 60 to 63 years old. She will be a billionaire while it is possible that victims have long lasting effects. We will need testing, blood work, exams, etc for years to come. She can pay annually $4m over 5 years. The interest she can make just in a 5% CD on her fortune pays for it in less than a year.

2023.06.06 23:51 PretendYouGotNoMoney July 4th AmericaFest Fireworks Show at the Rose Bowl Cancelled This Year, Last Year It Lost Pasadena/Rose Bowl Half a Million Dollars
According to Rose Bowl General Manager Jens Weiden, AmericaFest, the annual fireworks extravaganza hosted in the Bowl every Fourth of July for almost a century, lost more than half a million dollars in 2022 and would need to be reworked if it returns to the iconic stadium.
Instead of the traditional AmericaFest this July 4, the Rose Bowl will be the scene of a sold-out soccer match and an after-match fireworks show for soccer ticket holders on the adjacent Brookside Golf Course.
In years past, AmericaFest has been described as the biggest Independence Day fireworks display west of the Mississippi.
In 2022 the 96th annual AmericaFest Celebration included the Palomino Festival, highlighting country music presented by Goldenvoice.
“We will continue to look at options for future years, but I would expect that if Americafest comes back it may look different than it has in the past,” Weiden told
Pasadena Now on Tuesday. “Last year Americafest lost over $500,000, and that just isn’t sustainable long term. We look forward to working with our stakeholders in the Arroyo and the City to see what that evolution looks like for future years. In the meantime we are excited to welcome LAFC [Los Angeles Football Club] and the LA Galaxy to America’s Stadium on July 4.”
The soccer match was originally scheduled for Feb. 25, but poor weather forced organizers to reschedule the event.
“We’re excited that on the 4th of July this year, we’re going to have a soccer match between LAFC and the LA Galaxy at the stadium,” Weiden said. “It’s a rescheduled soccer match that was supposed to take place in February, but because of inclement weather, we rescheduled it to July 4th. And the exciting thing for us is that we have a history of doing soccer matches here on the 4th of July with fireworks. When the LA Galaxy played here for years, we would have a soccer match and then do fireworks after the soccer match. And so this year that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to have a sold out soccer match on July 4th, followed by a firework show on the golf course at the conclusion of the game. So we’re excited that we’re actually going to do both.”
“We’re going to have a world-class soccer match, and then we’re going to do a world class firework show after that the attendees of the event and also the neighbors that are around the Rose Bowl can enjoy. So we’re excited that we’re going back to our roots a little bit here and doing a soccer match with fireworks to follow.”
It is not known if the after-match fireworks show will be presented as “AmericaFest.”
Pasadena Now has reached out to the pyrotechnic company responsible for the fireworks for the show in previous years.
According to ESPN, 70,000-plus tickets were already sold for the soccer match in February when that event was rescheduled.
The ticket sales puts the match on course to potentially break Major League Soccer’s single-game attendance record of 74,479.
The event is projected to make hundreds of thousands of dollars for the stadium.
The Rose Bowl Operating Company (RBOC) is looking for ways to increase stadium revenue.
The fiscal year 2023 budget plan for the Rose Bowl Operating Company projected a loss of $2.8 million. The RBOC’s operating reserves would cover the loss.
This would have been the 97th annual AmericaFest.
According to Nina Chomsky, president of the Linda Vista Annandale Association, a nearby neighborhood group, was not told of the changes to the schedule.
A sold-out soccer match could have major traffic impacts in the Arroyo.
“We just followed the ‘news’ from the RBOC,” Chomsky told
Pasadena Now. “We at LVAA had no way to comment or suggest alternatives. It was all presented as a ‘done deal.’”
Tens of thousands of people typically attend the AmericaFest event for a day full of tailgating, celebration, and entertainment, including a motorcycle stunt show and a world-renowned fireworks display.
