2023.06.03 02:50 TheBonesOfAutumn In the 1970’s, two unrelated deaths occurred within the confines of a small home that once stood along Lawrence County, Indiana’s Ramsey Ridge Road. Referred to by locals as “The Mysteries of Skin Ridge,” this is the story of the unusual deaths of Dennis McArthur, and Gerry Lee.
Nestled in northern Lawrence County, Indiana, just six miles from Bedford, lies Ramsey Ridge Road. Just under three miles in length, the rural pathway once referred to as “Skin Ridge'' winds through the sparsely populated area’s dense woods atop a hill overlooking Little Salt Creek and nearby Bartlettsville. In the 1970’s, two completely unrelated deaths occurred within the confines of a modest green house that once stood along the ridge. Referred to by locals as “The Mysteries of Skin Ridge,” this is the story of the unusual deaths of Dennis McArthur, and Gerry Lee.
Dennis McArthur
On April 11, 1976, 44-year-old Pearl McArthur returned home after a lengthy stay at Madison State Hospital. Pearl, who would later be diagnosed with schizophrenia, had committed herself to the hospital in early December, leaving her 18-year-old son, Dennis, to care for the house in her absence. Accompanied by her 23-year-old daughter, April, who lived in nearby Bedford with her husband Gary, Pearl made her way inside the small two-story farmhouse.
Inside, Pearl and April found the home in complete disarray. Trash laid strewed about, lamps and furniture were overturned, and the stove was caved in, its exhaust pipe torn from the wall. It was unusually cold inside as though no heat had been recently used, and a strange smell permeated the air.
Alarmed, Pearl and April began to frantically search for Dennis. As they made their way over to a small couch located in a bedroom on the second floor, they noticed a pile of blankets lying on the sofa. As Pearl peeled back the layer of quilts, she was met with a horrific scene; Dennis’s decomposed body lay beneath the bedding. They immediately summoned police.
Dennis was found in a fetal position on the couch, facing inwards. Although covered by quilts, he was nude from the waist down. The coroner estimated he had died one to two months prior, however the cold weather had, in part, delayed the decomposition process making it difficult to give an exact time of death. During an autopsy, it was discovered that Dennis was severely emaciated, to the point of starvation. No evidence of external or internal injuries were found.
Police discovered several bottles of pills in the home; vitamins used for energy, an antidepressant, and a drug used in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. All of the pills were prescribed to Pearl, and were still relatively full. A toxicology test was conducted and proved negative, however the state pathologist who performed the test admitted that the test was incapable of detecting substances such as LSD. He also explained due to the amount of time that had passed since his death, the tests might not be one hundred percent accurate. Dennis’ cause of death was listed as malnutrition and exposure.
Investigators found several clues at the scene that struck them as odd. Although the cabin appeared ransacked, nothing seemed to be missing, including a small amount of money that was found within the disheveled home. Along with money, a small amount of, now spoiled, food was found in the cabinets and refrigerator. An upstairs window was found to be broken from the inside. Also upstairs, investigators discovered several large pools of blood, including one beside the couch where Dennis’ body was found. They also found blood on the backside of the couch, on a rug, and on the kitchen door frame, along with splatter on a wall. Testing confirmed the blood to be human.
Dennis was well known to both police and the county’s social workers. His mother, Pearl, was frequently in and out of mental institutions leaving Dennis and his two siblings to fend for themselves. The children’s father, Walter, had abandoned the family and moved to Georgia years prior. In 1972, Dennis was arrested for theft and truancy. That same year, he was expelled from school and never returned.
He was again arrested in 1973, this time for driving without a license, fleeing from police, possession of alcohol, and curfew violation. After his release, Dennis was sent to live with a man named Al Hagopian, a case worker for the Youth Services Bureau. Al was quoted as saying; “Finding him a place to stay was hard. The house where he had been staying was pretty grubby, and the state thought he was too young to live alone. His mother was in and out of hospitals a lot and he worried about her constantly. He didn’t want to return home, but said he had to go back to help care for his mother.”
Al discovered that Dennis “read and wrote backwards,” and was “practically illiterate.” After reviewing Dennis’ school records, he found multiple instances where teachers labeled Dennis as having disciplinary problems when it came to schoolwork, however not once did they mention he had a clear learning disability. Al further explained that attempts to secure employment for Dennis were nearly never successful. Aside from being unable to read or write, he had no vehicle. He also had no stable address or phone number and was oftentimes dirty and dressed in near rags.
Dennis’ unfair hand he had been dealt did not stop him from trying to act like an average kid most of the time, Al added. He explained that Dennis had an interest in cars, enjoyed hanging out with his friends, and was always chasing girls. He had also told Al he wanted to someday save up enough money for a new guitar, as he loved to play music. Al admitted that Dennis was also into the “street scene” and had dabbled in drugs and alcohol. Dennis returned home after two months of living with Al.
In 1974, after another arrest and his subsequent release from a youth detention center, Dennis went to live with his father for a short time. Dennis’ arrest had made headlines when it was learned the young man had been kept with adult men for a long period before being transferred to the youth detention center. Dennis and Walter reportedly couldn’t get along, however, and Dennis ran away to Florida. He lived there for a few months, washing cars to make money, before returning to the home on Ramsey Ridge in Indiana in 1975. He was again arrested, this time in Bloomington, Indiana for carrying a concealed weapon, alcohol consumption, and curfew violation. At the time of Dennis’ death, the charges against him were still pending.
According to his sister, April, she had gone to visit Dennis at the home on Ramsey Ridge on Christmas Eve. April said Dennis was sitting on the couch, playing his guitar. He also showed her a new rug he had purchased for the home. According to her, he seemed his usual self and the home was clean. April offered him some money, however Dennis refused claiming he had enough to get by.
Lucy Lively, an aunt of Dennis’ who lived “within hollering distance,” claimed she entered the home on February 1st to turn off a lamp that had been left burning. While she did not see Dennis, she claimed the home's interior was in normal order. Joe McArthur, Dennis’ paternal grandfather who also lived nearby, said it was not unusual for Dennis to disappear for long periods, so he thought nothing of the youths' absence as of late.
When Walter, Dennis’ father, was informed of his son's death, he informed police that Dennis, along with two male friends, had come to visit him in Georgia in mid December. He gave a description of the two teens and told police they had been introduced to him as “John Boy'' and “Blonde John.”
Police were able to track down “Blonde John” who was identified as 18-year-old John Fonk of Bloomington, Indiana. John told investigators that he and Dennis had driven to Florida together in October, not December, as Walter had stated. John explained they had stopped by Walter’s home in Georgia on their way back home. He was confident in the date as he had joined the Air Force in December. He also explained that “John Boy” had been a hitchhiker they had picked up along the way. According to John, “John Boy” rode back to Indiana with the pair, but he had not seen him, or Dennis since. He described him as being in his mid 20’s. After learning of the discrepancy in Walter’s story, police again tried to contact him, however phone calls and letters went unanswered. Unfortunately, they were never able to identify “John Boy.”
Further questioning of social services showed that Pearl had filled several grocery orders provided by state services, however the orders ceased when she had been again hospitalized. Eventually the Lawrence County Welfare Office had taken control and promised to look in on Dennis, however they could provide no evidence they had followed up on the case. They suggested that Dennis, overwhelmed with his impoverished lifestyle, had simply starved himself to the point of being comatose, before succumbing to the harsh cold of winter. They were quoted as saying “We were aware of him of course, but he never came to us. We don’t go looking for people if they don’t come to us for help. Now if he had, we would have done something.”
The local sheriff as well as members of Dennis’ family were unsatisfied with Dennis’ listed cause of death and continued to pursue the investigation for several months. Unfortunately due to a lack of funds, more elaborate tests that may have presented some clue as to how Dennis died could not be conducted. Sheriff Robbins was quoted as saying, “This is a very disturbing mystery, because even if someone confessed to killing him, I doubt we would have the evidence to prove it. But it sure is hard to believe he could kill himself like that, by just laying down and dying. We aren’t closing the case, it will remain open. But until we have something more to go on, there’s not much more we can do at this point.”
Dennis was laid to rest at Heltonville’s Gilgal Cemetery. Few attended the modest closed casket funeral and subsequent burial. One journalist gave a last description of Dennis’ final resting place,
“The dogwood trees are in full bloom on the hillsides of Gilgal Cemetery, and though Dennis’ body now rests peacefully beneath a carpet of fallen petals, his soul will surely never rest until the reasons behind his death are discovered.”
Pearl, Dennis’ mother, passed away in 2000 at the age of 67. Walter, Dennis’ father, died in 1988. His sister, April, passed away suddenly in 2006 at the age of 53. Dennis also had an older brother, Gordon, who passed away in 1994 at the age of 42.
Gerry Lee
On the evening of May 28, 1978, police were again summoned to the little green house on Ramsey Ridge. The home was now occupied by 27-year-old Gerry Lee, a divorced self employed carpenter, and his roommate, 25-year-old Michael Davis. When police arrived, Michael informed them that Gerry had committed suicide.
Gerry was found hanging from a maple tree located 20 feet from the home's front porch. The rope had been tied off to a branch approximately 10 feet above the ground and fashioned into a noose. His feet were found to be touching the ground, and his knees were bent. Blood was discovered on Gerry’s hands and pants, despite having suffered no visible wounds. An autopsy would reveal that Gerry had died of asphyxiation as a result of a fracture to his cricoid cartilage located at the base of his larynx. The coroner stated this was not an injury normally associated with suicidal hangings, but instead blunt force trauma to the throat. Inside, more blood was found on a television set, the phone, and on the kitchen floor. A window on the home's back door had been broken from the outside, leaving shards of glass lying on the kitchen floor.
When questioned, Michael gave an explanation for the unusual findings. He claimed that he, Gerry, and two other friends, Mike Oakly and Roberta Chandler, had spent the day in nearby Bedford before the foursome returned to the home on Ramsey Ridge. There, Michael told police that he and Gerry got into a “friendly scuffle” that resulted in Michael falling into the window in the kitchen. He suffered a deep laceration to his forehead that left him bleeding profusely.
According to Michael, Roberta and Mike accompanied him to seek medical treatment in Bedford, while Gerry stayed behind at home. Michael returned home alone from the hospital, having left Roberta and Mike in town. It was then he discovered Gerry’s body and summoned police. He added that that evening Gerry had threatened to shoot himself multiple times with one of the loaded guns kept in the home.
When Roberta and Mike were taken in for questioning, they gave similar accounts of the night's events. Both were released. Aside from having a visible wound, medical staff confirmed Michael had been to the hospital that evening, having sought treatment for a laceration to his forehead.
Still, both the prosecutor and the county coroner stated they were not entirely satisfied with a verdict of suicide. The coroner stated “Some things have not fallen into place like they should with a suicide case. Although it looks as though it could be a suicide, there are so many angles that do not fit in with the suicide verdict.” The prosecutor agreed, “I’m not satisfied with how the investigation was handled,” he said, “and there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Several months later, Gerry’s case was brought before a grand jury who ultimately returned a verdict of “probable suicide.”
Gerry was laid to rest in Bedford’s Breckenridge Cemetery. Despite his death being declared a suicide, many locals, including Gerry’s friends and neighbors, continued to believe that something more sinister may have happened that evening, and the suicide was in fact staged. The community’s more superstitious elders shared a similar belief, however adding that a “strange ethereal force” inhabited the room where Gerry once slept, and where two years prior the body of Dennis had been discovered.
Whatever your opinion may be, it seems for some the books will never fully be closed on “The Mysteries of Skin Ridge.”

2023.06.03 02:12 Omansurver The second part of the fourth section of a certain super well-made-like-oh-my-god-this-is-so-good literary piece of media that was inspired by a animated piece of media, or the second part of the fourth chapter.
So yeah, second part. I forgot to say the page count last time of this chapter last time, so I'll say it now. Chapter four is about fifty pages long, so it fits the bill when it comes to these things. Not much else to say, so enjoy.
* * *
Jacob pondered.
On what exactly? Oh fine, I’ll tell you.
Jacob had just received what was, hopefully, a relatively unfiltered version of the recent events and situation on the planet. After about an hour of explanation, A had finished on the arrival of the disassembly drones, and the subsequent widespread assault on the worker drones. When Jacob had asked for the specific story of A’s squad, A had skirted around it, only lightly touching upon the subject. It was slightly suspicious, but Jacob didn’t plan on doing anything about it.
However, if it was the truth, it only raised more questions than answers. The fact that a company was willing to exterminate the entirety of what was probably a massive investment was just baffling. Jacob could only come up with two explanations, one of which was rather worrying to think about. The first was that of changing times; perhaps the company was so rich, and technology so advanced, that the worker drones could be replaced with the ease of buying another shipload of tissues. If you threw away an entire box of tissues, it would be annoying to say the least, but it wouldn’t cost a lot to just get another one.
But, it just didn’t make sense to Jacob that that would be the case. The United States military in the time of Jacob had heaps, thousands of missiles, and could afford to replace them as they were used. But if they all disappeared at once? It would take lots of time, money, and effort to replace each and every single last one of the lost payloads, and not to mention the logistical nightmare it would be.
So, that led Jacob to his other solution, one that insinuated a scenario far more confusing and sinister. If the company decided to just annihilate every worker drone, which is a very radical and illogical decision by a galaxy-spanning megacorporation, then it would line up with certain other decisions made by other people in the past.
During the Second World War, the U.S. government was fearful of a potential Japanese invasion. They believed that, if they did land boots on American soil, that the Japanese-Americans would rise up, taking the side of the invaders. And so, Roosevelt made the Executive Order 9066, ordering over one hundred and twenty thousand Japanese-Americans to be interned in concentration camps, where they would remain until near the end of the war.
This was an apt example for how even the most level-headed of individuals could make bad decisions under the influence of fear. If Jacob assumed that the same was true for this day and age, then perhaps the administration at the company had sent machines to kill the entire worker drone populace due some or maybe even all of them being much more dangerous than what was being let on. It was a bit far-fetched, but was the one of the only viable solutions at the moment, aside from his theory that nothing was real and they were all figments of the imagination of a being so complex they were nothing but fiction to it, but the chances of that were little to none.
Right?
Jacob’s pondering was interrupted by someone waving their hand in front of his face.
“Ugh, hello?” A snapped his fingers twice. “You there?”
Jacob blinked, refocusing on his present company. “Uh yeah, just processing.”
A scoffed. “Processing what? I thought humans were superior or something?”
Jacob smacked A’s hand out of his face. “Me too.”
A raised an LED eyebrow.
“Doesn’t matter.” Jacob waved hand in a dismissive way. “What now?”
“I dunno. That's all I had.” A shrugged.
“Nothing else you’re hiding?” Jacob questioned.
“No. There isn’t.” A glared at Jacob. “Now drop it.”
Jacob held up his hands in surrender. “Okay, jeez man, calm down. I just don’t wanna be bored for however long I’m stuck here.”
“Yeah well, that's not really my problem.” A stated.
Jacob didn’t reply, only sighing, before standing and getting up out of his seat.
A startled. “Wait, where are you going?”
“Out.” Jacob simply replied.
“Why?” A inquired.
Jacob shrugged. “Bored.”
A got to his feet as well. “Fine then. I guess I’m going as well.”
“You’re coming with?” Jacob asked incredulously.
“Yeah. I can’t have you running off and getting yourself killed.” A reasoned.
“They kept saying that too.” Jacob grumbled.
“Who said that?” A tilted his head.
“K and X.” Jacob answered. “Also, why don’t y’all have normal names? Why just letters?”
“I dunno.” A non-committedly replied.
“Huh.” Jacob took that as a cue to leave, turning to the ladder.
A followed closely behind, waiting until Jacob had gone through the small exit to ascend himself.
Jacob didn’t bother to use the ladder on the way down, buckling his knees and dropping the last few feet, hearing the snow crunch beneath him. He had been prepared to absorb the impact, but it seemed like whatever advanced mechanics his suit possessed had done the job all by itself, which was pretty nice. He made a mental note to test out the capabilities later on, just to get a general sense of the limits and what would be a danger to him.
Jacob heard a similar crunching noise behind him, causing him to look backwards, seeing A just awkwardly standing there.
“Just gonna follow me? Really?” Jacob was slightly annoyed.
“Yeah. I’ve gotta keep you safe until someone else takes you off my hands, or else I’ll-” A cut himself off.
Jacob took note of that, inferring what he might have been about to say. It only served to confirm his notion that he was sort of a VIP on the planet. He was to be protected at all costs, which was pretty nice for Jacob.
“So, you gonna do anything?” A asked.
* * *
The sound of snow crunching filled the empty room as the pair walked into it.
“Can we go back already?” X complained.
“No, and be quiet.” K scolded him. “It’s too echoey in this room, it’s annoying.”
X scoffed. “Pff, it’s fine. Nobody’s around for miles, we’re all good. Now when can we go back?”
K rolled her eyes. “We can go back when we find something, You heard what he said.”
“What who said?” X inquired.
“You idiot, our squad leader!? Our boss that we’ve spent who knows how long with!?” K cried out.
“Calm down, just messing around.” X leaned against the wall.
“Whatever, you know what A said. We can’t come back until we’ve found water.” K reminded X.
“Why do we even need it? I’m sure he’ll be fine.” X waved off the issue.
“He’ll die.” K deadpanned.
“He can walk it off.” X waved off the issue again.
“I don’t care, just get off the wall, we’ve gotta search every building.” K gestured for X to follow.
“How can we even find anything in here? Everywhere else we’ve checked has been empty.” X took his place next to K.
“You never know, now get to it.” K kicked over a rock, exposing a small marble.
X trotted over to a dented metal counter on one side of the room, peering underneath it.
“Nothing here, this is useless.” X whined.
“Shut up.” K called out.
X surprisingly obliged, kneeling down and searching the small cabinets that were connected to the counter. After finding nothing but a small skeleton huddled inside one of them, X sighed heavily, before making his way over to a large metal box. It might’ve been taller than him if it wasn’t tipped over on its side, with an assortment of power cords snaking out from an outlet on the back of it. Seeing a small handle on the front, X tugged on it, the slight rust giving way to superior strength.
However, X’s eyes went wide with shock, which changed to glee.
“Hey, look what I’ve found!” X called out to K.
K’s head whipped up, staring at the prize that X was brandishing. “You found- what is that?”
If the two had any idea what warm food was, they would’ve recognized the lumpy frozen good that X had in his hands as a perfectly preserved rotisserie chicken. If they had any sort of reheating device, and if they had proper taste buds, they might have been able to enjoy the sweet experience of a Thanksgiving dinner. However, they were ignorant robots who were about as smart as a middle schooler, so the only reaction that they, or at least one of them had, was confusion.
“I dunno, but it says chicken on the side!” X proudly exclaimed.
“What’s chicken?” K questioned.
“I’m . . . not sure . . . but I’m pretty sure it's food.” X’s LED eyebrows furrowed in thought.
“How do you know that?” K asked.
“Uh, I don't?” X seemed more confused than ecstatic now.
K shook her head. “Did you find anything useful?”
“Well I found this clear thing, but it only says something called ‘Dasani’ on the side.” X held up a clear plastic bottle, putting his finger in quotation marks when he said it.
“Give me that!” K dashed across the room, snatching the item out of X’s hands.
“Wha- hey!” X tried to grab at it, but K held it out of his reach.
“Back up!” K swatted X in the face, inciting a squawk of surprise.
“I found it first, give it back!” X shot back, tackling K, causing the bottle to roll across the ground.
The two began slugging at each other, scrabbling across the ground for dominance over a goddamn bottle, like a gang of the aforementioned middle schoolers. Nearly crushing the contested item multiple times, the two spent a good thirty seconds duking it out. And after K finally managed to curl into a ball around the bottle, X tried to no avail to recapture his former possession.
“You motherfu-” X was cut off by a noise from the door that led deeper into the building
The two highly professional disassembly drones shot to their feet, their gazes snapping to the origin of the sound. Standing there was a figure, about the same height as K and X, with familiar black plating and armor, kneeling down to grab a small blue marble that was on the floor. It appears as though the idiot had been trying to be sneaky to avoid capturing the attention of the killer robots, which clearly didn’t go as planned.
“Uh, hi.” The drone said after a moment of silence.
Even more silence.
The military drone took that as a cue to scoop up the marble, before dashing out of the room.
K and X instantly took chase, with K pocketing the small bottle for later. The military drone wasn’t quite fast, but it did make use of its head start well. The unnamed drone disappeared behind the corner, with the pair of disassembly drones right on his heels. However, when K turned around the edge, a bullet tore through the air, finding its home in her head. Completely unprepared, she fell to the ground.
X, contrary to what some might do, didn’t stop to assist her, instead just simply vaulting over her body, speeding onward. He was rapidly closing the distance between him and the military drone, when his prey suddenly whipped around with a pistol in its hand. X, unlike his comrade, was prepared for this inevitability, turning to the side and out of the path of the trio of bullets as they flew by him. X followed up on this by diving down onto the hapless drone, trying to skewer it on gleaming metal claws.
The drone didn’t have a chance to fight, but unknown to X, he did have time to press the small panic button on its jawline, or where the jawline would be if it was a human. If anyone on this planet was familiar with standard police or even military practice, they would recognize the small button as the useful yet annoying panic button.
For a bit of context, the panic button is usually represented as a small and easy-to-access device that, when activated, sends out an emergency distress signal that would notify the proper authorities of the panic button’s location and a dire situation. The panic button is common in the military, police personnel, elderly homes, schools, corporate buildings, apartment buildings, and basically everywhere else that isn’t a ghetto.
The drone, however, proved to be much smarter than his predecessors, much to the dismay of X. It dove to the side, dropping down and through a weakened rusty grate. As X’s claws scraped against the wall, the fleeing drone tossed a metal panel that was blocking the way out to his side, before dashing through the door. X jumped down to the lower floor, before continuing his chase.
A flurry of bullets ripped towards him, but X brought his arm up, letting his forearm absorb the projectiles that hit, and most missed. The drone ran down a comically long flight of stairs, taking three steps at a time. The stairs continued downward, eventually opening up to a basement with a gaping hole in the wall, which led straight into darkness. The drone nearly fell into the hole from the momentum of jumping down the stairs. But, it just managed to skid to a stop at the edge.
X landed at the foot of the stairs, crouching to absorb the impact. X’s gaze focused on the drone that was pointing the pistol at X, sights drawing a solid bead on his head. However, when it pulled the trigger, it was only met with a slight clicking sound. The drone gaze jerked down to the pistol, then straight back up to X, who was now diving towards it, claws outstretched.
The drone jumped backwards, losing his balance. Its foot slipped off the edge, and while the sudden space between it and X saved its life for the time being, it did have to contend with gravity, which was now pulling on the drone by a considerable amount.
X watched as the drone tumbled down the pit, hitting the sides. However, the sides of the pit were both sloped and slick with a thin sheet of ice, causing the drone to slide down to the bottom. The drone slammed against a large rusty metal pipe, which was a solid indicator of the pit’s identity as a sewer.
The drone scrambled to its feet, caving the skull in of a skeleton that appeared to have been a former inspector when one took into account the corpse’s clipboard and tattered clothes. X slammed down onto the large pipe, causing it to resonate like a gong. The drone snatched up a small length of rusty metal rebar that had impaled itself on the ground, the edge of the steel surprisingly sharp. The drone adopted a fighting stance, pointing the business end towards X.
The robotic predator didn’t care, however, just simply stabbing his prey with his own pointy stick, the sharp end of his nanite acid tail. The sharp tool stuck itself in the drone’s shoulder, causing it to drop the bar and curse. X took the opportunity to grip the drone by the head, while digging the claws of his other hand in its chest. X then looked into the opaque black visor of the military drone, before pulling in two opposite directions.
The effects were made known quickly, with the head of the military drone migrating away from its home connected to the body. Oil splashed down onto X, who took the opportunity to feed. X dropped the head, letting it hit the ground with a clang, dropping the body as well.
X stood over the fallen corpse, claws gleaming with oil. K landed next to him, retracting her wings.
“So you got it?” K asked.
“No I didn’t, he got away. This body right here is just a random pigeon, and you’re just hallucinating.” X replied sarcastically. “Also, how the hell did you get here so fast?”
K rolled her eyes. “Oh, be quiet. I’m just making sure, because knowing you, you would probably let him go for the funny.” She ignored his latter question.
“Well now that you mention it . . .” X looked sorrowfully at the body.
K punched him in the arm. “Whatever, we gotta go. I seriously doubt that he was alone-”
She was cut off yet again by a loud crash that originated from the hole up on the wall. The duo whipped around, only to see several guns pointed straight at them.
“Sup.” X nodded at the intruders.

The sound of conversation could be audibly heard from the lit tent.
The tent had been designated as the de facto headquarters for the former facility personnel, with a smaller offshoot serving as a meeting room for the leadership. The offshoot tent in question was currently being used for its purpose, with an emergency meeting being called. Not because of the discovery of a dead body, but for a different matter entirely.
“Can anyone at least tell me how this happened?” The Lead Engineer leaned on the table.
One of the data officers stepped forward. “We believe that when we were evacuating the facility, an error occurred that declassified the file.” They answered.
“An error did this.” The General wasn’t convinced.
“Well, yes. The computers had been degrading for a while now, and we had noticed that several of our autonomous programs were misbehaving, or just outright not working at all.” The data officer replied.
“And we did nothing about this?” The General glared at the trio of data officers that had joined them.
“We actually were doing all we could, but we didn’t have the materials to make a complete fix.” The Lead Engineer interjected.
“Why didn’t you tell me then!?” The General exclaimed.
“I did. You probably just forgot again.” The Lead Engineer suggested.
“What? I have the best memory here.” The General puffed out his chest proudly.
“Alright then, what were we just talking about?” The Lead Engineer inquired.
The General frowned. “We were talking?”
The Lead Engineer facepalmed. “Goddamn idiot.”
One of the data officers stepped up. “Uh, sir? There is still the matter of the ones who discovered the information.”
“Oh yeah, uh, dump them off the eastern bridge.” The Lead Engineer waved off the issue.
With a simple nod, the data officers left, accompanied by a few guards as well. The Lead Engineer sat back in his chair, before steepling his fingers on the desk. He looked back and forth between the assembled leadership, before the General spoke up.
“So, are we gonna continue or what?” He crossed his arms.
“Yes, sorry.” The Lead Engineer motioned to one of his ministers. “You take the lead, Kane.”
Kane got up, walking to the front of the tent, dragging a projector on a cart with him. When he arrived, he pulled down the white screen, securing the hook on a latch on the bottom. He then adjusted the cart, facing the lens towards the screen. He then attached a laptop to the projector, pressing a few buttons and fiddling with a few switches, cursing once. Finally, the projector flickered to life, shining an image onto the screen.
Kane cleared his throat. “Ahem, so. What you are seeing here is the first page of the document in question. As you can see here, it appears to be warning against a drone viewing whatever the contents of this file is.” Kane flicked to the next slide. “It continues to vehemently express this multiple times, not really differing in its warning at all.”
One of the military ministers, Alicia, raised her hand. “Uh, question?”
Kane paused. “What is it?”
“Its warning against drones? She asked.
“Yes, it is. I’ll explain this later on, so save your questions for the end please.” Kane looked back to the projection, skipping through the slides until he landed on the first one without a warning.
“Ah, here we go. So, as you can see here, this appears to be a logo for JCJenson-'' Kane was interrupted by a faint, “In Spaaaaacee!” from an unknown source. “Uh, anyway, as all of you know, JCJenson was the company that owned this planet, and the one that provided the drones that the government were using in their facility, which was us.” Kane flicked to the next slide.
“Here we can see a title for a project, along with several bits of accompanying information, like locations, associates, page number, references, you get the picture.” Kane then produced a long ruler from what seemed like thin air, before pointing the end at one of the words. “Pay attention to this one here ‘AbsoSolv’ as it’ll come up several times later on.” Going to the next slide, Kane cleared his throat yet again.
“This page is more confusing, as it appears to be mentioning several unit serial numbers that don’t match up with standard format, which are mixed in with several other ones that are in different format, like this one here,” Kane pointed his stick at a random one from the line. “This one says, S-010011X01, which I believe has a main identifying letter instead of a string of numbers based on time of construction.”
“Additionally, while some of these feature the normal serial numbers that worker drones use, they have another identifier after it, separated by a dash.” Kane flipped to the next slide.
“This one is more straightforward, as it appears to be featuring a set of technical designs of a modified worker drone with the serial number and other associated information listed at the top. The notes on the side are observations on the modifications that can be seen in the designs. Some of the original worker drone parts can be seen, but a majority of the inner and outer mass seem to have been altered or replaced with a substance that is described as ‘fleshy’. You can see at the very bottom a signature of an unknown human administrator, and a notice that marks the drone for ‘disassembly’ as an addendum can be seen that marks whatever this is as a failure, and a recommendation to request more data from their source.”
Kane took a breath, before going to the next slide. “This is essentially the same as the last one, and this continues for a few slides. Nothing of note can be found in them, save for a few different serial numbers that were listed in one of the prior slides.”
Kane flicked to the next slide. “This one has two addendums, which I will say in a moment. The image is different as well, with noticeably less random mutations and more of a form taking place. This one was supposedly much more successful than the others, and while it was still marked as a failure, the first addendum said that the team working on the project should strip the data from the drone in as best a condition as they could. The second one simply noted they were naming the specific strain of code they were using to ‘Absolute Solver’. The addendum does not mention any reason or motive behind the name, only noting the fact that their shareholders would be pleased.”
“The next one is the first apparent success in the line of experiments that JCJenson seemed to be doing. A single growth can be seen protruding from the back of the spinal transmitter, and several other growths have sprouted inside. However, it is noted that the drone survived the process, and remained somewhat coherent for a period of time afterwards, which seems to be an outlier when considering the others. There isn’t an addendum on this one, only a request from the team for more extensive data from their source to compare to this experiment.”
“This trend continues for a good while, so I’ll just summarize the important bits for all of you.” Kane stated. “Each version continued to show more and more productive attributes and traits, as is par the standard course. Throughout the notes, requests, and addendums, whoever was typing up the document repeatedly noted some things that I will review later, such as Absolute Solver, the ‘source’, Camp 98.7, Cabin Fever Labs, and disassembly drones.”
Kane flicked to the final slide. “This is the final page, with some items to note. It appears to be a reiteration of the specifics of the agreement between the government and JCJenson, with a few additional key things. It includes the standard formalities and the usual junk that we all know, but something else as well. When mentioning the exchange of data that came from the asset-” Kane paused as the room underwent an uncomfortable shuffle in their seats. “They mention a clear correlation between this project that JCJenson is, or was, working on, and the asset. They also instructed the government contacts that any unauthorized personnel, which included government agents, were now barred from entering Camp 98.7 due to ‘hazardous environmental conditions’ and that this was nonnegotiable.”
Kane turned away from the projector, clasping his hands in front of himself. “And now to explain.”
“From what me and the team I assigned could gather, we deduced the meanings and purposes behind several items that were mentioned in this file. The first and most obvious, the ‘source’ that is mentioned. They are receiving data from this source, which seems to be essential to the development of what they were working on. Based on their words, we figured that the source is likely the asset, and yes, the same asset that we are all familiar with.” Kane paused, seemingly to let his words sink in.
“Continuing on, we began to dissect what Camp 98.7 was. It was very clearly a location of sorts, but where it was and what it was used for was more complicated. While we never arrived at a solid conclusion, we believed that the most likely avenue was that Camp 98.7 might have been an outpost of sorts, perhaps used in conjunction with these Cabin Fever Labs.”
“On the matter of the Cabin Fever Labs, we can clearly assume that research and development of this Absolute Solver was being conducted there, and perhaps Camp 98.7 was a sort of staging ground or other type of location related to the lab. We believe that the location of one or both of these sites are hidden within another file.”
“And perhaps the most intriguing and complex matter of them all, Absolute Solver. We figured that it was likely that this Absolute Solver was instrumental in whatever experiments they were doing, or even being one of the subjects of the experiments themselves. From what we gather, Absolute Solver is something, maybe a piece of alien machinery, some sort of unknown lifeform, an experimental strain of cutting-edge code, one of those things, but whatever it is, it is not something that is ‘normal’. It appears to have a unique effect on those it hosts or comes into contact with, rapidly generating new organic material, with sometimes uncontrolled effects. While the file only shows the experiments that used drones, we don’t know if any humans or other organic lifeforms were included either. Likely not, considering the legality of the situation, but it's open to discussion.”
Kane took a large breath, before continuing.
“And finally, the disassembly drones. They seem simple, but my team believed it to be heavily related to our current situation. They aren’t mentioned very often, but they appear to be a direct result of their experiments or related to one. From what we could gather, they are meant to, well, disassemble. Drones on par with military-grade ones that are capable of a variety of things, like bullet fire, rocket launching, melee combat, flight, digital warfare, and regeneration.” Kane watched as his words dawned upon his audience, expressions filling with shock.
“Yes, those drones. The disassembly drones that we read about are likely some variant of the unknown assailants that attacked the facility, and stole the asset in the process.”
The General sputtered. “B-but that would be a severe political incident! If those drones were under the command of JCJenson, and they stole GOVERNMENT property, then they would be liable for retaliation!”
Kane tried to calm the room. “Now, hold on, I’m not done-”
The Lead Engineer also appeared to be shocked. “Why didn’t you tell me this earlier!?”
“You told me to wait for the meeting!” Kane exclaimed.
The room erupted into disarray.
“We need to mobilize, hunt down those damn traitors!”
“What's their last known location!?”
“Where is the nearest transmitter, send out a request for retaliatory action!”
Suddenly, a drone burst into the room, knocking over the projector cart in the process. Everyone turned to look at him, ceasing the chaos for a moment.
“Er, uh, sirs?” The drone asked.
“Yes?” The General and the Lead Engineer stood up at the same time.
“I, uh,” The drone looked back and forth between the two administrators. “Well, we received a panic signal from one of our scouts.”
The General scoffed. “Why would that be enough to warrant our intervention? He probably just tripped on a conveniently placed banana peel.”
The messenger fidgeted nervously. “Well, his partner reported moments before the signal came in that he heard gunshots.”
The administrative drones shared a collective uneasy look.
“What did you do?” The General asked slowly.
“The officers who received the signal first sent in two of the patrol squads that were nearby at the time.” The messenger answered.
The drones in assembly all either looked down in disappointment or facepalmed.
The General spoke up after a moment. “Send in a squad as fast as you can to their last known location. Only veterans, and outfit them with heavy weaponry and explosive ordnance.” The General paused, before adding an afterthought. “And give them some cutting equipment too.”
The messenger blinked in surprise. “Wait, sir, are you sure-”
“Just tell the officers already!” The General slammed his fist down onto the cheap plastic table, which formed a crack.
The messenger saluted quickly, before dashing out of the room.
The Lead Engineer took a cursory look at the assembled drones, before he sighed.
“We’re screwed.”
* * *
“Are you going back anytime soon?”
Jacob looked back at his unwanted companion.
“No.” He answered simply, before resuming his casual trot.
“We’re getting too far away from the spire, and the sun is coming up in an hour or two. I for one don’t want to get caught out.” A insisted.
“Well I don’t die from a bit of sunlight, so too bad.” Jacob stepped over a tire rim.
“I’m not sure that’s your choice.” A stated.
Jacob paused and looked backward. “Oh, so you’re bossing me around now?”
“Maybe, if you keep on making dumb decisions like this.” A stopped as well.
“Pff, I’ll be fine.” Jacob waved his hand in the air to emphasize his point.
“You won’t last ten minutes.” A dead-panned.
“Nah, I’ll speedrun this stuff, I’ll be off-planet in an hour.” Jacob proudly said.
A shook his head and sighed. “Whatever you say.”
Jacob didn’t answer.
Jacob then looked around. “Wait, where are we? I wasn’t keeping track.”
“And you said that you would- whatever, we’re like, three miles away from the base.” A replied.
“Huh, went that far?” Jacob asked.
A frowned. “Three miles isn’t that far-”
A was interrupted by a rather loud crack that resonated through the landscape.
Jacob blinked. “Uh, ok then-”
Jacob was also interrupted by a trio of cracks and bangs, sounding slightly familiar.
“Are those-” Jacob was, yet again, interrupted by even more bangs.
“-gunshots?” He finished.
“I wouldn’t worry, those idiots are probably either messing around, or they found a worker drone to kill.” A nonchalantly answered.
“Shouldn’t we go check it out though?” Jacob inquired.
“It isn’t a problem.” A said, annoyed.
“Well it would give me something to do.” Jacob insisted.
A checked the time, before looking at the horizon for signs of sunlight.
“Eh, fine. Wouldn’t hurt, I guess.” A shrugged.
“Nice.” Jacob grinned underneath his ballistic visor.
* * *
K sliced through the head of the last desperate drone, before spitting out a bullet.
“You done?” K called out to X.
“Yeah, I guess. By the way, do you still have my Dasani thing?” X looked at K hopefully.
“Yes, I do. And besides, it isn’t yours, it's for Jacob.” K answered.
“What? Why is he getting it? Why not me?” X exclaimed.
“Because it's water, idiot. An uncontaminated source, like A told us, remember?” K glared at X.
“I guess, but that's water?” X asked.
“Yes, it is. It matches the description.” K replied
“Description?” X questioned.
“Yeah, the description. You know what description means, right?” K seemed even more annoyed.
“I know what it means.” X snapped. “But how do you know what water looks like?”
K just shrugged, before turning towards the exit.
“Come on, we gotta get back soon.” She flew upwards, landing on the ledge.
X followed suit, tracing their steps back through the building. X looked back up at the rusty grate that the drone had fallen through, which he now identified as being part of a weirdly placed catwalk. Scanning the environment, X found that the only entrance to the small alcove would be the hole in the catwalk. The basement that the small room was connected to didn’t have an entrance either, only having the gaping hole in the side of the room, which likely wasn't intended. That would mean that a person would have to chop through the sewer wall to get into the basement and adjoining alcove, or jump off the catwalk. Both of those options didn’t make any sort of sense at all. In fact, the catwalk wasn’t even needed, someone could have just removed the entire basement-and-alcove plan entirely, which also removed the necessity for a catwalk. All in all, whoever designed the building was either high off of some crazy drugs, an idiot, or both.
But, none of these thoughts went through X’s head, as he was only thinking about the devastating loss of his cool plastic bottle.
K hefted herself up onto the rusty catwalk, with X following close behind. K went through the doorway, only for a rather eventful event to stop her momentarily.
A rocket screamed through the air, smacking K straight in the chest. The resulting explosion blew X backwards and K apart, with oil splashing onto the ground in the process. With a clatter, X hit the ground, slightly dazed. He looked to his left to see what looked like the arm of K, twitching slightly. X tried to get up, only to fall again, after he put his weight on a hand that wasn’t there.
X, seeing the failure of Operation: GTFU, adjusted his position so that he could get up with his other hand only, which was thankfully still there. Investigating his left arm, he could see that everything down from the elbow had been separated from himself in the blast. He didn’t have time to look for it or go get it, so he simply let the matter go.
Standing up, X stared through the smoke, before diving back down onto the ground when another rocket came streaking past him. It scratched his face, sending small sparks up, before heading down the other hallway. X pointed his own rocket launcher into the fog, before firing off a flurry of shots. He heard explosions, but wasn’t rewarded with screams or grunts of pain. Problematic, to say the least.
X took the opportunity to kick K’s assorted dismembered body parts down into the lower alcove, where she should eventually reassemble herself. She was really taking a beating recently, and she would probably be frustrated about that when X was all done, but that wasn’t his problem-
X nearly met the same fate as K when another rocket flew from the open doorway, the fog starting to clear up. X jumped up and over the RPG, letting it fly into the unexplored depths of the building. He couldn’t do this dance forever, so he made the executive decision to charge into the unknown.

Anyway, I'll be posting the next part tomorrow, so hang on tight for the singular person that made it to the end. No need to like, this is purely for my own benefit. See ya.

2023.06.03 02:00 pollo147 All bosses from worst to best in my opinion
Before starting, sorry if my english is bad, im from Argentina, this post is an idea from other post published 1 year ago
- Sgt. Suckerpunch
Difficulty: Very easy at difficulty 1 and 4 but on 8 it is a real challenge, 1 hit from a plunger tornado and you are DEAD, i like the challenge on 8 difficulty but can be annoying.
Design: The clog punched his limbs off so he uses plungers to do various attacks
Theme: Cool song but gets boring very fast
Story: Blud tried to unclog the clog but got demolished, that means he tried to set Swirly D. free, but he gets mad at us when we do it, weird but it can be because he is mad at the fact the player releases Swirly D. and not him.
Strategy: Just hit him with rock grimoire/meteor grimoire and use range weapons like OP watering pail or rubber ball cannon to shoot him, when he announces a plunger tornado just fly away or knockback him with rubber cannon or meteor grimoire (if you are using that build)
- The Creator
Difficulty: Literally FREE, even on 8 difficulty just spam pet rock grimoire and youre done. This happens because he cant spawn pollywogs when being in knocked in the ground, so yeah, you can cheese him. (And he is easiest boss of the game if you fight him normally, its technically the first boss so yeah)
Design: I love his design, he looks very cool and i love his crazy juice hair, nothing more to say here.
Theme: Blud DOESNT have a theme song
Story: He is called the creator, but the creator of what ??? blud DIDNT made nothing why is he called the creator. He is probably a faker OR the creator of the
pollywogs. Strategy: Already explained, just go full fire on him with odinary pinneaple, murder him with a morningstar, or spam pet rocks if 8 difficulty, he is the easiest boss of the game.
- Wawsp Queen
Difficulty: Back on 1.9 she was
ABSOLUTELY HARD, not on 1 diffculty obviously, but on 4 and 8 difficulty she was the hardest boss. (i never beated her on 8 difficulty in 1.9) Focusing on the new updates she is a lot easier and you can absolutely cheese her just with Signy's Wheels and no upgrades! tough on 8 difficulty she is a challenge but not as hard as 1.9 version
Design: A big wasp with 2 homing guns on her arms, if you are too close to her and some time passes he will start charging a powerful explosion wich can kill her wawsps (i think) you cant eat her head but you can wear it as a helmet, she is still alive so she can say some funny dialogue when you wear hear head
Theme: No, i dont like this song, i find it annoying, but it fits the boss very well. Wawsp queen is always angry and yelling at you and for some reason this song feels angry (idk what im saying anymore)
Story: idk... Just some wawsps stinged hoagen's hand and thats it.
Strategy: if you are on difficulty 1 you can cheese her just rushing at her with the car nitro, however on difficulty 8 you cant use the car because its too weak for the amount of health she has, you can use ordinary pineapple and pet rock (idk that is what i used)
- Mrs Slitherss
Difficulty: i will talk better about this on strategy, but Slitherss is an easy boss on 1 difficulty, and as expected, a real hell on difficulty 8. She is probably the second hardest boss on difficulty 8.
Design: Long snake that has the ability to fire laser trough the eyes, sadly she uses this power only 2 times in the entire game. She has the ability to fly and is the original owner of the Draginslayer (Draginslayer appears on Larva Land too, i dont know why but it is there)
Theme: I absolutely love this theme! It feels very epic and intense, when playing on a difficulty higher than 4 this can bring adrenaline as the bosses have more health and do more damage, Sleepy Slitherss, the song that plays when she has been defeated is a very good song too even if you are just hearing 30 seconds of the song the first time playing it lol.
Story: Her role is being the teacher of the juice school, if you get an answer wrong she will kill you. Ms Slitherss tries to lie you about the real Juice Galaxy world and she probably has something to do with the juice queen.
Strategy: in 1 difficulty you can literally kill her before her fight starts, but in higher difficulties this fight will be a tough one! on difficulty 8 it isnt safe to stay on ground for too much time! she will call her students so they spawn from the ground and 1 hit you. This is why you should fight against her on the roof, you have limited space but its better than risking losing the fight at the end because a random ahh dragin spawned right next to you. She will only charge at you, if you fight her on the roof this will make the fight very tricky as the limited space wont let you move too much without falling you want to avoid at all costs getting hit on 8 because this guarantees you an instant death. i recommend using tiny sun grimoire tough i used pet rock because i didnt have tiny sun, ordinary pineapple can work too.
- The Clog
Difficulty: Fun on difficulty 1-4 hell on difficulty 8 (wow what a surprise) the gimmick of this boss is that you CANT use any weapon on it outside the
mighty plunger. you will want to have good arm power for this one (obviously talking about harder difficulties)
Design: it is a giant white ball with hands, as mentioned before, only plunger can kill him. Very simple design as expected.
Theme: As the title says "Angry Tunnel" is the counterpart of the default toilet realm music "Calm Tunnel" so its an intense version of that song, i love it and it makes the battle more immersive.
Story: Clog is there as a way to block Swirly D. from getting into the overworld. After being defeated clog screams "Master ive failed" so this leaves us with the question of who sended clog to block the way into the end of the toilet realm. We may know about this mysterious character on a future update.
Strategy: You want good flight and arm power for this boss, and pay attention when he rushes at you or moves back to avoid your hits. If you are playing on difficulty 8 beware with his hands because they will demolish you in 1 hit, also he is very tough so thats why you want lot of damage and arm power.
- Dream Eater
Difficulty: Dream Eater can prove a challenge while playing melee or even with ranged weapons such as ordinary pineapple and rubber ball cannon. He can fly and avoid projectiles easily. Tough he can be easily killed with a tiny sun grimoire
Design: A Strange flying creature with pitch black corpse and a white face wich looks like a demon, he has red horns and his eyes glow orange.
Theme: I absolutely love this song, it fits very well with the fight and feels very intense as you are fighting with literally a
demon.
Story: We dont know too much about his story or why is he in Mr Fox dream, probably represents the bad time Lil Mr Fox had everyday at the Juice School as you can read trough the notes that are on the trees.
Strategy: Fight him with draginslayer if you want to go melee or use a grimoire or a ranged weapon that can keep shooting at him without having too much trouble, stay on the cabin roof if you dont have confidence to keep flying while fighting him and if you are trying to beat him in difficulty 8 you may want to use a grimoire on him.

2023.06.03 00:37 Itayoo My First Short Story [802]
thank you so much for any feedback (: _
The parking lot was abandoned, the pavement marks were worn out and grass was overgrown. The lot used to serve a little convenience shop which is now deserted and the light poles stopped working except for one luminating a beaten up pay phone. My car was the only one there. With me I had 5 dollars and my pet goldfish, Jason Bateman, in a plastic bag. I messed up. I was struggling to sleep on my backseat, I had very little gas and nowhere to go next.
My fish looked freaked out. I can’t blame him, he must be scared. Just as my eyelids were slowly shutting, something soft hit my head. It was my fish. And he was now on the floor, frantically moving around the transparent bag, pushing it with an incredible show of strength for a fish. Oh well. I took the bag and got out of the car. There was a small creek nearby . I opened the bag and let my fish into the stream, and he swam away. “Goodbye!” I said. Life in the stream is better than life in a plastic bag, at least I hoped so. I went back to my car and tried falling asleep, I could not stop thinking of my fish, Jason. I worried for him but I had no way of knowing if he’s okay, nothing to do about it.
The sound of an orchestra woke me up. I don’t know how many hours have passed or how much I have slept. A melody was played, the most beautiful melody I have ever heard, and a big bright yellow light shined through the windows of my car. I was so enchanted I didn’t even question it. I went outside of my car. And there he was, a fish of colossal size, making a friendly face to me.
“Hello”, he was talking in fish language, but I understood every word.
“Thank you for saving me, I owe you a favor.”
I stuttered, struggling to articulate any answer.
“Don’t you remember? I’m your fish, Jason Bateman! you freed me! I made my way down the stream and found a little fish town. I settled down and found a job I love. I met my beautiful fish wife and raised 3 precious fish boys. My life was the best I could ever wish for, all thanks to you! Quick, climb on my back, let me show you something."
His aura and the tone of his voice were comforting. Without hesitating, I climbed on his back and we took off into the sky. Up there, the sun rising reflected its light on the skyscrapers in the city skylines. From there the cars driving down the highway looked miniature, just as my problems seemed to me at that moment. They didn't matter anymore, Jason Bateman was taking me to a better place. As we passed the endless suburban sprawl, I watched the people down there, going on their normal morning routine. I wondered if they could see us in the sky. I remember being one of them just yesterday, but I wasn't anymore, I was sure of that. I didn't know where the fish was taking me but I trusted him, whatever he's going to show me must be life changing. Finally after a few hours we landed on a glacier.
“Welcome to the north pole!” said Bateman, as he slid down the smooth ice.
We arrived at a little ice hut, inside there was an ice lamp, an ice couch, and an ice television facing it. On the floor there was a little container of fish food.
“Welcome! Feel at home” Bateman said, as we sat on the couch and he used the ice remote to turn on the ice television.
The ice channel aired reruns of the ice show. Bateman picked up the fish food.
“Want some?” he asked
“Sure” I said, and he gave me a little crumb.
For hours we binged the ice show, we watched it over and over and over, but somehow it never got old. Everytime I watched I noticed something new, the characters became so deep and intricate. Who knew a show about ice could be so interesting?
“This is the best show I have ever watched,” I told Bateman.
“I know,” he said, “I know."
Every once in a while he would give me another crumb of the fish food.
“This is the best food I have ever eaten.”
“I know, I know,” he replied, with a very knowing fish grin .
I never felt more peaceful and happy, being here, in the coziest room, watching the best show, eating the best food, alongside the most beautiful fish I have ever seen. Who would've guessed? This is all I need.

2023.06.03 00:17 Winter_Ad2364 Being scammed by Astell and Kern ?
Hey everyone,
So I bought the A&K and Empire Ears Odyssey which ran me almost 3800 after tax. Still new to IEMs I was not expecting them to be so delicate but tried to be careful. I dropped one pretty lightly onto a granite countertop and it cracked open .
Now I've had my EE Bravado MKII for a bit and never had a problem even placed it on the same counter so i suspect something may have been defective but they claim that not to be the case.
The unit never had any damage internally and didn't even split open fully so it still held the contents. It couldn't have damaged much falling from such a short distance. Maybe some wiring but nothing more.
They want to charge me 1700 and told me to get it back they would keep the "broken "one
" A) Defective or damaged components will not be returned for the end user's safety B) Astell&Kern does not distribute or sell technical components to private users or unauthorized 3rd parties; therefore, returning the original hardware would be in the same category C) All A&K-released media units are fully enclosed and not self-serviceable; there is no reason to offer the opportunity for a future self-service attempt or resell of the hardware component D) The original parts won't be returned; upon enrolling the damaged device through Astell&Kern's RMA Service Protocol, you offered your acknowledgment and confirmation of the terms and conditions
The top priority of technical service is to proceed with physical repair with hardware content that is still salvageable. The current deposit amount is solely based on the totaled Right Housing unit, which values half of the complete IEM unit.
Meanwhile, issues on LEFT housing's wear and tear condition and Audio Cable's two-pin connectors will all be reviewed and identified if Warranty Coverage is applicable or additional fees will be applied.
Lastly, should you desire to enroll the damaged IEM unit for technical service through Astell&Kern, identifying the actual level of damage(s) and determining the required level of repair will solely be based on Astell&Kern and/or Empire Ear service authority's expertise, not from speculation based on visual inspection of a spectator.
Should either Astell&Kern or Empire Ear Authority exercise the option to issue a replacement component to complete the RMA case, the proprietary hardware and technical detail will be further reviewed and evaluated for future improvements, as the original part will not be returned. " So what , they charge me for a replacement, keep the drivers and reuse the internals, resell it and give me a new one ?
I don't mind paying for repair but this is like if my DAP had a broken screen, they take it and keep it and bill me for a new one ?
Little do they know I am affiliated with a popular hifi YouTube channel (met them at a convention years ago) who asked me to bring them over for a video review (we live next to each other ironically ) and they told me horror stories about their customer service and support. Any legal recourse possible here? What should I do.

2023.06.03 00:14 Winter_Ad2364 Sketchy behavior by Astell and Kern repair services
Turns out they were not lying. Throwaway for anonymity obviously.
Any legal recourse possible here? What should I do.
Shame because i liked that brand and almost bought their most expensive dap.

Quartz Quadrant (Good Future).\** Sonic runs around an underground utopia colored green with glowing buildings, opulent towers of crystals, and mountains and forestry. With 4 Time Stones in his possession, and the Robot Generators of this area destroyed, the blue blur is trying to find any sign of either Robotnik or Metal Sonic. He’s particularly eager to throw hands with his robotic faker, but he’s able to enjoy the sights as he continues on. Sonic: “Man…this place is beautiful…” Sonic: “Those crystals are especially eye-catching! I’m a little tempted to grab one of them, and take it with me as a souvenir!” Sonic: “But I don’t wanna mess with anything! So I’ll just admire it from a distance!” Soon enough, Sonic arrives at a room with a conveyor belt, and a long, tube-shaped mech attached to the ceiling, where Dr. Robotnik resides inside. He appears to be doing something with the mech’s console, clearly a little annoyed as he talks to himself. Robotnik: “Ugh! This is much worse than the future I made!” Sonic: “You’re just salty because your face isn’t plastered everywhere!” Hearing the words of his enemy, Robotnik perks up a bit and looks at Sonic, who waves with a smug smirk. Then, with an angered expression, the doctor presses a button on his console, which causes the tube-shaped mech he’s in to drop to the conveyor belt floor, with an audible thunk. Plus, the entrance Sonic just went through is blocked by a spiked wall. Robotnik: “Tch! Even if that WAS the case, I would still hate this!” Robotnik: “Hence, why I’m gonna have to grab those Time Stones you collected!” Sonic: “I thought your plan was to have your robo-hog beat me at Stardust Speedway, and get all the Time Stones then?” Robotnik: “That’s mainly for Metal Sonic to fight you! I don’t mind getting a few of those gemstones a little earlier than planned!” Robotnik: “Now, get a load of THIS!” Pressing another button on his console, Robotnik activates the conveyor belt, which starts to push Sonic towards the spiked wall. Though, the blue blur isn’t fazed, and just starts running while smirking at the round doctor, who looks like he was expecting something much different. Sonic: “Is THIS seriously your plan, Eggman? Trying to give me a workout?” Robotnik: “No! I had a different machine set up here!” Sonic: “Heh! Guess changing the future erased whatever robot you were gonna use from existence!” Robotnik: “Well, it’s no issue! I can still take you out!” Grabbing ahold of the two console sticks, Robotnik spawns a few spiked bombs from his machine that move across the ceiling, before falling down onto the conveyor belt to hurt Sonic. But sadly for the doctor, the hedgehog is easily able to dodge these bombs, while continuing to get on his nerves. Sonic: “Running AND dodging? You’re really trying to make me work up a sweat!” Robotnik: “Rrrgghhhh! No matter! Once you arrive at Stardust Speedway, Metal Sonic will destroy you without any issue!” Sonic: “While you are here, I figure I should ask about him.” Sonic: “For your first attempt at making a robot version of me, chrome dome looks pretty advanced.” Robotnik: “Impressed? I knew from the start that he would be my greatest creation yet!” Robotnik: “And while it would have taken me a year to fully complete and perfect him, the Time Stone gave me all the time in the world to do so!” As the two continue their conversation, the bottom of Robotnik’s tube-mech starts to burn due to the friction from the conveyor belt. And after dodging another few bombs, Sonic starts to run backwards while talking. Sonic: “Admittedly, he is pretty tough. Even has some of my moves.” Sonic: “I’m guessing you used some data or whatever from our last few encounters?” Robotnik: “Exactly! It’s why I captured and sent you to Robotnik Island and the Super Labyrinth in the first place!” Robotnik: “A means to figure out what makes you tick, and how your speed works!” Sonic: “Hmph. Trying to use my speed for your goals?” Before Robotnik can respond, his tube-mech burns even more from the friction with the conveyor belt, destroying itself little-by-little. Then, he continues, with Sonic turning back to run normally. Robotnik: “Why wouldn’t I want to use your power for myself? It’s what makes you such a pain in my side!” Sonic: “Even so, there’s no way Metal can compare to me! I’ll prove it when the time comes!” Robotnik: “Don’t be so confident! The original isn’t always the best!” Robotnik: “And when the time comes, Metal will prove that fact!” Sonic smirks a bit at Robotnik’s remark, but before he can comment on it, the tube-mech breaks down even more. Plus, the doctor’s starting to tap his feet a bit from the heat of the friction, clearly looking panicked. And as for the blue blur, he’s still dodging the bombs easily, while continuing his smack-talk. Sonic: “What’s the matter, doc? Feeling the burn? Losing a few pounds?” Robotnik: “S-Shut up! I just…have to get going now!” Despite his feet-tapping, Robotnik manages to set his tube-mech to auto-pilot with the console, and proceeds to run off, while using the Time Stone he has to teleport away. And in a few seconds, the machine is destroyed, and Sonic heads off, reaching the Flower Capsule. Sonic: “Heh! That was a nice little workout! But I think I ought to get going!” After destroying the Flower Capsule, releasing all the colorful flowers within it, Sonic heads out of Quartz Quadrant, ready for whatever comes next. —------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \Some time later. Wacky Workbench (Present).\** In a large warehouse with purple walkways, abstract mechanisms, a flashing checkered floor with bouncing platforms, grounded police sirens, and atom-like structures that generate electrical currents, Sonic is trying to carefully navigate the area, but is definitely struggling. Because of all the bouncing platforms, electrical currents, and the many badniks, Sonic has been getting hurt a lot. However, he’s eventually able to reach an enclosed area with metal pistons, where he can catch his breath. And once he does, the blue blur starts an angry rant about what he just went through. Sonic: “This place is an absolute mess! There’s so much I have to watch out for!” Sonic: “Just how does Robotnik get through here!? Does he have some sort of secret passage somewhere!?” Sonic: “Ugh! Trying to find the Robot Generators here is gonna be a chore!” Sonic: “But whatever! I still gotta fix this place! And I can use the Time Stones I have to get to the past easily!” Trying to calm down a little, Sonic pulls out the purple Time Stone, and puts it up into the air, where it starts to emit a sparkly glow. Then, the world around the blue blur is covered in sparkly green energy, as the landscape changes. In only a few seconds, the energy disappears, and the hedgehog takes a look around. Now, the warehouse appears to be under construction, with much of the girders and platforms colored green. The canyon area outside is also exposed, alongside some cranes, scaffolds, and girders looming below. But stuff like the checkered floor and bouncing platforms are still present. Seeing that not much has changed from the Present time, Sonic lets out an annoyed sigh. Sonic: “Dangit…I was hoping traversing this place would be easier in the past…” Sonic: “Though, at least it doesn’t look as bad as before.” Feeling more confident and collected, Sonic decides to get a move on. Though, just as he turns around to where the metal pistons are, he’s startled by something he wasn’t expecting to see. It was Metal Sonic, but…it looked more blue than it was supposed to be. And that’s when the blue blur sees what it is. It was a hologram of Metal Sonic, who’s stomping on one of the animals in Wacky Workbench. Nearby was the projector device. Now knowing it’s not the real deal, Sonic sighs and comments on the hologram. Sonic: “A hologram projector, huh? Guess this is supposed to scare the animals here? Or is this some way of messing with me?” Sonic: “Well, either way, it’s getting smashed.” Walking over to the projector device, Sonic proceeds to stomp on it, crushing the thing to pieces, and causing the hologram to fade out. After that, the hedgehog thinks on a few things. Sonic: “Come to think of it, I haven’t seen Metal Sonic in a while…and I don’t know how Amy’s doing currently…” Sonic: “She’s probably freaked out right now…but I think I’m getting close to Stardust Speedway!” Sonic: “So, I need to wrap things up here, and rescue her! Plus, send robo me to the scrap heap!” Sonic: “Then, I can take care of Robotnik, save Little Planet, and call it a day!” With a smirk, Sonic heads off to find the Robot Generators in Wacky Workbench, determined to do what he does best: Save the day, and beat Robotnik at whatever he does! —------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \Some time later. Stardust Speedway (Bad Future).\** Amy Rose sits down on the floor in her empty metal cell, having a downcast expression. Outside of the cell, a few Badniks are watching over her, making sure she doesn’t try anything. However, the pink hedgehog has come to see that she can’t do much here, aside from mess with her Tarot Cards and think to herself. Occasionally, the Badniks deliver some food and drinks to Amy, but they all don’t taste very good. So, the pink hedgehog hasn’t eaten much, and she’s feeling both bored, and concerned for what could happen next. Especially if Sonic isn’t able to find and rescue her. However, she refuses to give in to despair. She knows her hero will save her. In order to distract herself from her situation for a bit, Amy decides to mess with her Tarot Cards again. Though, just a little while after she starts, she hears the sound of mechanical footsteps, which means her kidnapper has shown up again. Looking up towards the laser gate, the pink hedgehog sees Metal Sonic staring at her, with the Badniks being told to leave. In it’s hands is a metal tray with some fried eggs, a biscuit with the Robotnik logo on it, and a plastic cup with water in it. This catches Amy’s attention, and she goes up to the laser gate as the robotic hedgehog speaks. Metal Sonic: “Sonic The Hedgehog will arrive here soon.” Metal Sonic: “Hence, you must be properly fed before the trap is set.” Amy: “Ummm…thank you, but why not have these robots deliver this to me?” Metal Sonic: “I decided that you should be notified ahead of time, so that you can make peace with your fate.” Metal Sonic: “And while I was at it, I decided to take the food here myself.” Amy: “...” Amy gives a curious look towards Metal Sonic, seemingly trying to figure something out. This continues for a few seconds until the robotic hedgehog speaks again. Metal Sonic: “...What is with that expression? Are you not interested in food currently?” Metal Sonic: “If that is the case, then I shall promptly throw this away.” Amy: “No, it’s not that! I just don’t buy your reasoning for coming here!” Amy: “You didn’t really need to tell me Sonic was gonna be here soon, and you didn’t need to feed me ahead of time.” Amy: “To me, it seems like you want to make me a little happier in my final moments.” Metal Sonic: “Consider it your last moment of peace before the inevitable.” Metal Sonic: “After I’ve killed my organic counterpart, you will follow suit.” As Amy continues the conversation, Metal Sonic puts the tray of food into a compartment in the wall, which moves over to the other side of the laser gate, allowing Ms. Rose to eat some of it. Though, she just keeps talking. Amy: “I still don’t buy it! You may say that you’re just a killing machine, but I think there’s more to you than that!” Amy: “You have your own thoughts, and the ability to make your own decisions! Not like the rest of these machines, who just follow orders!” Amy: “And while you can deny it all you like, I know deep down, you’ve got a bit of a soft spot!” Metal Sonic: “Once again, you talk nonsense out of desperation.” Metal Sonic: “If I was ordered to by my master, I wouldn’t hesitate to destroy you.” Metal Sonic: “I don’t even know why I bother listening to you when it doesn’t benefit my directives.” Amy: “Well…maybe it’s because you want to listen?” Amy: “Not because it benefits you in any way, but rather, because you’re interested in what I have to say?” Amy: “And maybe…a part of you enjoys listening to what I have to say, too?” Metal Sonic: “...” The two hedgehogs share a moment of silence, with the pink one smiling at the robotic one, hoping to reach through to it. But when the moment passes, Metal Sonic responds. Metal Sonic: “...I’ll admit hearing such differing thoughts and views compared to Robotnik was interesting.” Metal Sonic: “But I don’t care about what you say to me. As far as I’m aware, you’re merely dirt beneath my feet.” Amy: “Then why do you keep this conversation going?” Metal Sonic: “Why does it matter to you? Why do you bother speaking to me?” Metal Sonic: “I was the one who kidnapped and imprisoned you. I’m the one who’s about to kill the one you love.” Metal Sonic: “These factors indicate you should hate me. Yet, you insist on talking to me every time I’m here.” Amy: “Well…I wouldn’t say I like you.” Amy: “More so…I pity you.” Amy: “No matter how much you deny it, you’re more than a killing machine. You have your own emotions and thoughts.” Amy: “You can do so much more with your life. Yet, you keep following some madman who only sees you as a tool for his own desires.” Metal Sonic: “Dr. Robotnik considers me his greatest creation. Why would he not care?” Amy: “Just because you’re his greatest creation doesn’t mean he genuinely cares for your well-being.” Amy: “What if he decides to replace you with a more advanced robot?” Metal Sonic: “He has no need for it! I’m already advanced enough!” Amy: “Then what if you fail a mission, and he ends up scraping you? Or leaves you to die?” Metal Sonic: “I never fail!” Amy: “No one is perfect! Everyone makes mistakes sometimes! Even you!” Amy: “But if your creator saw you fail…what would happen?” Amy: “Do you really think he’d be understanding? That he would-” Metal Sonic: “ENOUGH!” Suddenly, Metal Sonic punches the laser gate, startling Amy and making her fall to the ground. She’s clearly frightened, as the robotic hedgehog glares at her while ranting. Metal Sonic: “It doesn’t matter if he cares about me or not! What matters is that I accomplish every directive he sets for me!” Metal Sonic: “And I don’t make mistakes! I am the most advanced and powerful machine ever created!” Metal Sonic: “Even Sonic can’t compare to me! He’s nothing more than my inferior counterpart!” Amy: “...” Despite her fear, Amy puts on a brave face as she gets back up. Metal Sonic has basically proven her point. He DOES have his own thoughts and emotions. He IS more than a machine. And now realizing that he snapped, the robotic hedgehog moves his fist off the laser gate and backs up a bit, looking down at the ground with clenched hands. But before either of them can comment on this, Robotnik walks in. He’s clearly a little annoyed, though also looking eager for some reason. This snaps Metal Sonic out of his current state, as he looks over at his creator. Amy also stares at the round doctor too with an irritated expression. Then, the robotic hedgehog speaks. Metal Sonic: “...Is it time, master?” Robotnik: “It’s fast approaching. The hedgehog just got out of Wacky Workbench, and has the 5 Time Stones we need.” Robotnik: “Hence, we need to set up the trap now. I’ve already moved the Robot Generators somewhere else so that Sonic can’t mess with the future of this area.” Robotnik: “So, let’s grab the girl here, and take her to the raceway.” Metal Sonic: “Yes. I’ve waited too long for this moment.” After turning the laser gate off with the console, Metal Sonic proceeds to grab Amy by her wrists, despite her best efforts to escape, and then flies off to the racetrack where his fight with Sonic will take place. Robotnik also follows them in his Egg Mobile, eager to finally watch his greatest creation defeat his arch-nemesis. While Amy is still very scared, she’s still holding onto hope. She knows Sonic will rescue her, no matter what Metal Sonic or Robotnik try to pull. However…a part of Amy still feels pity for the metallic hedgehog… TO BE CONTINUED… Next Chapter Archives Previous Chapter submitted by StrivingJarl to u/StrivingJarl [link] [comments] |

2023.06.02 20:09 sufferingtobeloved First Recallable Vivid Dream in a Long Time
Hi all,
Wondering if someone can help me unpack this dream. It is the second dream I’ve remembered in a few years and the first that wasn’t fuzzy, extremely detailed, and vivid. It included folks that represent my past and present. I tried to look up some of the symbolism and am still unsure. The last few years (fathers death, pandemic, recent unemployment) have been somewhat traumatic for me and I’ve been on a combination of an antipsychotic/antidepressant during this time which I have (without knowing for sure) attributed to a lack of recalling dreams.
For context, I had a fairly traumatic childhood and am in acceptance of my family and what happened in the past. The description below references an ex-boss from a recent 10-year job I resigned from that included some oppressive and what felt like psychological unsafeness. The other person I knew in the dream represents a very old friend I haven’t spoken to in many years and him and his partner (unknown male) in the dream represent the only diversity in the dream in addition to the Chinese woman. Not sure if the diversity is significant but there were A LOT of white people in the dream. I don’t live in Minnesota but am familiar with the middle of the state. Also, recently have been doing a lot of meditation, spiritual alignment, and trying to master my mind, as well as asking to recall dreams and be shown what path I ought to be on prior to sleep, as well as anti-racism learning.
Dream Friday June 2
In Minnesota, stop on way to cabin with group and end up in a Chinese women’s shop. Can’t touch most things there. Go upstairs to rest with mom, brother and SIL and I fall asleep while they are showering. When I wake up they’re all gone. I’m worried because it’s getting dark outside and am afraid of not making it to destination before dark or being stranded. Driving dark means deer May jump in front of the car. I can’t find my cell phone and head downstairs to look for others and one the second floor living room attached to the stairs are ex-boss and ex-stakeholder. They let me know they’re gone and I can go with them. I step outside for a cigarette and see a bus (pink and teal) and hop on. Driver is bold middle aged lady with smile and missing teeth. I realize bus is headed in the wrong direction and exacerbatedly grab pulley and yell that I need to get off as driver does not stop. At parking lot exist of what I now realize is a very large shopping center, with wooden Nordic style shops, I run back to the original shop passing by many people (all white, mostly blonde) I re-enter the shop head upstairs frantically and realize I’m missing my shoes and phone. I come upon old friend and his partner (unknown) who are calmly sitting, giggling. I explain the situation and they are headed to wear I need to go and I realize I’ve lost my phone and shoes. I go to the first room, frantically, and eventually find my shoes and then my phone and it’s case which are separated. I go back downstairs and see old and his partner watching tv calmly and explain we need to go. They continue laughing and watching tv and I frantically head downstairs now with car keys. As I head down the final flight of stairs, I drop some food and a stick of butter and don’t think I have time to clean it. As I continue exiting I see two new shop assistants and don’t see the Chinese lady (new shop assistants are young white women with long blond hair, twins) I notice a dog (half collie half golden retriever) and go back to pick up the butter so the dog doesn’t eat it. Finally I exit the shop and get into a red sedan and start driving down the road. I notice that old and partner are in the car, though I thought I left without them, and there’s still plenty of day light. I mention I was wrong and the deer may not be in the road. Michael and partner laugh.
Any insight or opinion or guidance would be very very very appreciated!!! Apologies for how verbose this is and grateful for your time and bandwidth :)

2023.06.02 19:10 Professional_Disk131 Element79 Gold Announces Execution of Agreement with Centra Mining Ltd. for Sale of Properties from Battle Mountain Portfolio in Nevada (CSE: ELEM, OTC: ELMGF)
https://preview.redd.it/pca21yu80n3b1.png?width=461&format=png&auto=webp&s=e933feb32db49eefb2223371f881d2fdb81fdd03 Element 79 Gold Corp. (CSE:ELEM) (OTC:ELMGF) (FSE: 7YS) ("Element 79 Gold", the "Company") announces that, further to its
November 17, 2022 release, the Company has entered into an Asset Purchase Agreement (the "Agreement") for the sale of two properties from its Battle Mountain Portfolio located in the gold mining district of northeastern Nevada, US to a subsidiary of Centra Mining Ltd. ("Centra").
Under the terms of the Agreement, Centra has agreed to purchase all of Element79 Gold's interests and obligations in relation to the Long Peak Project ("Long Peak") and the Stargo Project ("Stargo") in exchange for a total consideration of CAD 1,000,000 payable by the issuance of an aggregate of 2,500,000 common shares of Centra at a deemed price of CAD 0.40 per share (the “Payment Shares”). The transaction is expected to close on or before June 30, 2023, and is subject to regulatory approval.
"The sale of Long Peak and Stargo to Centra marks another milestone in Element79's journey for the strategic development of its high-grade gold assets," commented James Tworek, CEO of Element79. "Centra realizes that these projects have great exploration potential along with the rest of their portfolio and it will be exciting to see what their near-term development plans are. We are excited to maintain our exposure to the very promising development potential of these properties through our equity participation in Centra."
Tworek added, “We have been working at the sale of the non-core assets in the Battle Mountain for over a year now, and it feels great to confirm that we have one package of properties now signed up and pending their closing date. This achievement further helps to highlight the currently-unrealized value of the individual properties in the Battle Mountain portfolio, helping to re-envision a benchmark for corporate valuation and enabling us to unlock additional value from our extensive portfolio of prospective properties while increasing Element79 Gold’s focus, energy and capital flows on developing its flagship Maverick Springs and both defining a resource at and bringing production online at Lucero in 2024.”
Element79 Gold’s Battle Mountain Portfolio
The Battle Mountain Portfolio was originally comprised of 15 separate projects totaling over 44,478 acres across 2,203 unpatented claims in five counties: Elko County, Eureka County, Humboldt County, Lander County, and Nye County. Most of the Battle Mountain Portfolio is located within the Battle Mountain Trend, with several projects close to globally reputable gold deposits including Nevada Gold's Cortez Mine.
The Battle Mountain Portfolio is comprised primarily of early-stage projects. While drilling has been completed at some projects, such as Elder Creek (155 holes) and Clover (104 holes), many have only surface sampling and geophysical surveys completed. Of particular note are the Long Peak, Elephant, Elder Creek, North Mill Creek, Clipper, Pipeline South, West Cortez, and Walti Projects, which are interpreted to lie along the northwest trending fault that hosts the high-grade Pipeline deposit, which is included in Nevada Gold's Cortez Mine.

Long Peak is comprised of 34 unpatented claims located near Copper Basin and the Copper Canyon Mine in Lander County, Nevada. Long Peak hosts significant historic prospects, warranting further exploration at Long Peak.
The Stargo Project
Stargo is comprised of 337 unpatented claims located south of the Battle Mountain Trend in Nye County, Nevada. The large claim block contains attractive host rocks, tertiary age intrusives, and appropriate aged structural preparation to represent an attractive area for exploration target development.
About Element79 Gold
Element79 Gold is a mining company focused on gold, silver and associated metals and committed to maximizing shareholder value through responsible mining practices and sustainable development of its projects. Element79 Gold's main focus is on two core properties: developing its previously-producing, high-grade gold and silver mine, the Lucero project located in Arequipa, Peru, with the intent to bring it back into production in the near term; and its flagship Maverick Springs Project located in the famous gold mining district of northeastern Nevada, USA, between the Elko and White Pine Counties. Maverick Springs hosts a 43-101-compliant, pit-constrained mineral resource estimate reflecting an inferred resource of 3.71 million ounces of gold equivalent "AuEq" at a grade of 0.92 g/t AuEq (0.34 g/t Au and 43.4 g/t Ag) with an effective date of October 19, 2022. The acquisition of the Maverick Springs Project also included a portfolio of 15 properties along the Battle Mountain trend in Nevada, which are non-core to its primary business focus. In British Columbia, Element79 Gold has executed a Letter of Intent and funded a drilling program to acquire a private company that holds the option to 100% interest of the Snowbird High-Grade Gold Project, which consists of 10 mineral claims located in Central British Columbia, approximately 20km west of Fort St. James. The Company also has an option to acquire a 100% interest in the Dale Property, 90 unpatented mining claims located approximately 100 km southwest of Timmins, Ontario, Canada in the Timmins Mining Division, Dale Township. The Company is analyzing the non-core Nevada projects, The Dale Property and Snowbird Property for further merit of exploration, sale or spin-out.

We are excited to maintain our exposure to the very promising development potential of these properties through our equity participation in Centra." Tworek added, “We have been working at the sale of the non-core assets in the Battle Mountain for over a year now, and it feels great to confirm that we have one package of properties now signed up and pending their closing date. This achievement further helps to highlight the currently-unrealized value of the individual properties in the Battle Mountain portfolio, helping to re-envision a benchmark for corporate valuation and enabling us to unlock additional value from our extensive portfolio of prospective properties while increasing Element79 Gold’s focus, energy and capital flows on developing its flagship Maverick Springs and both defining a resource at and bringing production online at Lucero in 2024.” Element79 Gold’s Battle Mountain Portfolio The Battle Mountain Portfolio was originally comprised of 15 separate projects totaling over 44,478 acres across 2,203 unpatented claims in five counties: Elko County, Eureka County, Humboldt County, Lander County, and Nye County. 2023.06.02 19:07 xtremexavier15 TSROTI 1 (pt 2)
The episode resumed on a shot of two totem poles hanging from tree branches. The one on the left was a green-marked rat sitting on a toxic waste barrel; and the one on the right was a red-marked three-eyed maggot with a hazard sign on its base and a hatchet stuck in the bottom.
"Those, are your team totems," Chris explained, the shot panning down to show each team standing below their respective totem with the host roughly between them, the entire group standing in front of a river. "You need to cut 'em down, and get 'em in the river, and ride 'em back to the campgrounds," he explained. "First team there gets their pick of the cabins. But hurry! The totems are rigged with bombs that will explode if you don't plant 'em in front of your cabin in seven minutes or less," the shot zoomed in on the timer on the Rats' totem. "Starting now," Chris quickly added, and the timer began counting down from 7:00.
"Ooh, I wanna go first!" Katie replied enthusiastically, jumping onto the trampoline that had been set-up under the Maggots' totem. However, rather than go straight up she bounced off to the right with a startled cry and landed with a painful crash just past a nearby shrub.
\
"I'll give this a try!" Geoff announced as the focus moved to the other team, grabbing the hacksaw and jumping onto the trunk of the tree the Rats' totem was hanging from. Sierra and Sammy watched him climb in wary silence, then took a shocked step back when he slid back down almost immediately. "Don't worry. I got this!" Geoff brushed off his pain.
"I don't think that's going to work," Sierra said while B was thinking of what to do. "We need a plan!"
\
Scarlett examined the trampoline as the camera cut to the Maggots. "Here's what's going to happen. DJ will hit the center of the trampoline-"
Anne Maria walked past Scarlett. "Back off. I want a crack at this."
"I did not calculate your weight!" Scarlett tried to tell her.
Standing on a rock, Anne Maria jumped onto the trampoline. She slammed right up into the base of the totem face first and nowhere near the ax. She fell down to the trampoline, which bounced her back up, and caused her to slam into it with her back before falling again. The team watched in growing discomfort as Anne Maria repeatedly hit the trampoline and the totem back and forth. After a few more collisions, DJ pulled the trampoline out from under Anne Maria before she could hit it again. Instead of bouncing on the trampoline once more, Anne Maria's body crashed on the ground.
Confessional: Anne Maria
"Sure, I want to win a million dollars, but not at the expense of my looks," Anne Maria gestured to herself. "I mean, check me out. Perfect hair, perfect tan… all this is worth a billion, easy."
Confessional Ends
The footage cut back to another shot of the Rats' totem, Geoff still climbing up the tree.
"Well, if he can't climb it," Sammy said, the camera cutting back down to the forest floor where she and her teammates were looking up, "then I doubt any of us are gonna be able to."
"We have to do something," Sierra countered. "The Maggots are taking the lead!"
B then grabbed Leshawna's hand and led her to a log being balanced by a large rock. "Oh okay. You want me on this thing?" Leshawna asked while being positioned.
"Whoa there," Sierra said when B took her near the tree. "You want me to stand here?"
B ran and did a front flip onto the log, resulting in Leshawna landing on Sierra's shoulders. They all voiced their support, until Geoff fell on the ground in pain.
Confessional: Sierra
"OMG! This is my first confessional ever! I am so excited!" Sierra gushed. "I never thought I would be on Total Drama, my favorite show in the world! Now I will finally put to rest all those blog questions, like "Who will be our next villain?" or "Who's going to get eliminated first?""
Confessional Ends
A close-up showed Scarlett giving the trampoline's position a few minor adjustments, then smiling and standing back up. "Okay, you should be good to go!" she told Dave, who was now standing on the large rock that was behind their team.
"Right," Dave nodded. A tense challenge tune began as he jumped down onto the trampoline, then straight up to the totem pole. He grabbed onto the hatchet buried in the wooden carving and tried to pull it free, but it didn't budge. "How is this stuck in here so deep?" he grunted, swinging his legs up so he could brace them against the bottom of the totem pole.
"Well guys," Molly said, the camera panning down to her and the rest of the Maggots looking up. "I don't think this is gonna be enough."
Confessional: Molly
"Okay, so I don't really like working with people," Molly admitted to the outhouse camera. "I've been raised to work by myself and without help. My parents made me audition just so I can learn how to, uh, what's the word that starts with c?"
Confessional Ends
B launched Sammy up onto Scott's shoulders, who already went before her. "I'm good."
\
The challenge music resumed as the shot cut back to Dave hanging from the hatchet, still trying to pull it out. "Almost...got it!" he said, finally freeing the ax then grabbing a short branch below the totem as he started to fall back down.
"Nice job, Dave!" Trent cheered down below.
"Watch out!" Katie said suddenly, pointing up at the branch Dave was hanging by one arm from as a hairless squirrel emerged from a hole in the trunk with an annoyed chitter. "It's one of those weird rat things!"
The squirrel seemed to take offense to that, and its eyes began to glow red. It suddenly shot eye-lasers down at the phone addict, who jumped away. The squirrel did not let up, however, and kept sweeping its laser-gaze across the panicking Maggots below.
"Are these animals even tested?" Trent panicked.
\
B cartwheeled before jumping onto the log in order to get Geoff standing over Sammy.
"We just need one more person!" Leshawna reminded B. "Max, get your butt over here!"
The camera cut to the supervillain, who was writing on his notebook. "What evil nickname should I give myself? Professor Abomination? Too soft. Doctor Repugnance. Too smelly. Little Mister Dreadulocks. Me likey."
Max put his notebook away and went back to his team.
\
The hairless squirrel was still attempting to zap the six grounded Maggots, forcing them to run about in terror.
"I thought animals were our friends!" DJ shrieked.
"Oh no," Dave said as the shot cut back to him hanging from the branch the squirrel was on, which soon turned its attention to him. "Why are you zapping me?!" He quickly threw the hatchet in front of his face as the squirrel fired its laser, and the beam bounced off the tool and directed at the higher branch the totem was hanging from – the blast snapped through it, sending the Maggots' totem pole crashing to the ground. The team cheered and Dave got off the branch.
"Now to get this totem into the water!" Scarlett said after.
\
"Release me this instant!" Max yelled because of B dragging his body onto the log.
With a mighty leap B launched the small, screaming boy into the air, and the dramatic music peaked as he sailed through the air. Max was able to land on top of Geoff.
"Quick!" Geoff told him, the shot zooming out to show him giving Max the rickshaw. "Cut the rope, little dude!"
"I don't like being told what to do normally," Max brattily whined, turning around and sawing through the rope holding up their totem. A few seconds later, the totem landed on the ground earning a cheer from the seven Rats.
"Nice job, B. We might just win this!" Sierra congratulated the burly man.
Confessional: B
B blew into his fist and rubbed it off in accomplishment.
Confessional: Scott
Scott was throwing a rock against the wall and catching it when it bounced back to him. "B thinks he's so smart. But once my plan goes into action, he won't know what hit him!" In the middle of his sentence, he stopped throwing his rock. He went back to his activity once more, but failed to catch the rock as it hit his eye, making him react painfully.
Confessionals End
The challenge music resumed over a shot of the rocky river, whoops and shouts of excitement coming from upstream. The camera panned up just as the Toxic Rats floated by on their totem – B at the head followed by Geoff, Scott, Max, Leshawna, Sierra, and Sammy on the end. The Mutant Maggots floated by soon after, Scarlett in front, followed by Molly, Katie, Anne Maria, Trent, Dave, and DJ in back.
"They're gaining on us, dudes!" Geoff shouted in alarm after looking back.
"I think we have bigger problems," Scott said, pointing forward. "Look!"
The perspective briefly switched to reveal that the river they were on was heading over a cliff, and the Rats gasped. "Weaklings," Max scoffed, "it's just a little waterfall!"
"It's more than just a little waterfall!" Sierra corrected in rising panic.
The shot zoomed out to show the top of the waterfall, the seven screaming teenagers shooting over it on their totem pole and falling into the forest below. Unseen branches snapped as they plummeted, but the camera cut to the ground just in time to show them landing on the shore of the waterfall's basin on the broadside of the totem pole, and after a bounce that jostled Sammy from her seat they began to slide down a hill.
Sammy screamed, hanging on to the back of the fast-moving pole with only her hands.
"Hold on, I've got you!" Sierra told her, quickly turning around and grabbing her arms. She easily pulled her back onto the totem, and the cheerleader instantly stopped screaming. "Hang on to the totem pole tightly if you don't want that to happen again."
"Uh, sure!" Sammy hesitantly promised.
Back at the top of the waterfall, the Mutant Maggots shot out into the air with screams of their own. As with their rivals, the sound of crashing branches preceded the thud of their landing, and they whooped and cheered as the camera cut to them sliding down the hill.
"Lean forward!" Scarlett commanded.
"You want us to do what?" Anne Maria spluttered.
"She's right. Lean!" Trent said, and the others promptly did so. The shot zoomed back out to show the Maggots passing the Rats.
"Now they're in front of us!" Leshawna shouted.
"B wants us to lean forward!" Geoff advised everyone, and they leaned forward as well.
"FASTER!" Max barked, to the annoyance of his teammates. "We must go faster or else-"
"We get it!" The Toxic Rats stopped Max's ranting.
\
The music stopped abruptly as the scene moved to Chris and Chef, lounging in short white deck chairs outside of the cabins – the one on the right looked just as it had in season one, but the one on the left had been replaced by what looked like a larger and much fancier two-and-a-half-story house.
"Ahh, feels good to be back," Chris said, leaning back in his chair while Chef read a book.
The sound of panting prompted the camera to pan to the right, and none other than Owen ran up. "Hey, Chris," he said, "the boat wouldn't stop for some reason!"
"Oh look, it's former player Owen," Chris told the camera, "who's not competing this year!"
Owen continued. "So I swam back over here to-" He paused, blinked, then widened his eyes in realization. "What?! Not competing?!"
"I'm afraid you and the other 'classic players' have outlived your usefulness," Chris explained. He briefly looked at the camera, then added "Chef?"
The hulking man stepped forward and planted a bomb similar to the ones on the totem poles on Owen's chest. Owen screamed in growing horror as the light on the bomb began to blink. He turned and fled, but the host smiled impishly and eyed the button on his remote.
The scene cut to a long-distance view of the thousand-foot-high cliff as Owen's screams were followed by an explosion that launched him into the air, visible even from afar.
Chris and Chef were laughing hysterically as the shot cut back to them, but they stopped as soon as they heard the laughs and cheers of a team approaching from the forest. The camera cut to the foot of a hill on the edge of the woods as the totem bearing the Mutant Maggots slid down, and came to a stop just before the host and cook as a victorious tune played.
"Yes! We arrived first!" Katie cheered in celebration.
"Tick tock," Chris told them. The bomb's timer was shown counting down from 0:15 to 0:14.
"Quick, grab the better cabin!" Dave commanded, and the shot cut to the two cabins – a flat stump occupying the area between them – as the seven teens carried their massive totem over their heads, grunting with the effort.
They managed to place it upright on the stump, and the timer stopped at 0:05 seconds. As it flashed and beeped the Maggots cheered for their victory...that is, until the sound of approaching screams caught their attention.
The music turned tense again as the Rats finally arrived at the bottom of the hill, hitting a small bump in just the right way to send their totem flying into the air. All seven fell off it, and to the mute shock of Chris and Chef it crashed into the second story of the better cabin. The timer on it counted down from 0:03, to 0:02, to 0:01.
The explosion that followed blew the entire two-and-a-half-story building apart, leaving behind nothing but smoke and splintered boards.
"Too bad," Chris told the Mutant Maggots as the camera panned right to the seven shocked teens standing around their totem pole, "it had an eight-person hot tub and air conditioning!" They all groaned in disappointment.
"That just makes it worse!" Molly grumbled.
Chris gave her a look of amusement and smiled. "Look on the bright side," he told the indie chick. "As the first team to arrive, you guys win the first challenge!" They cheered and celebrated their victory.
"So where are we gonna sleep?" DJ asked the host after they finished celebrating.
"No worries," Chris told him as the sound of a helicopter rose up nearby. "We've got a back-up cabin for you. It's every bit as nice as the one you lost." As he spoke, the show's red helicopter was shown bringing in the cabin in question and lowering it into the scattered rubble of the old one...revealing that the new one was basically identical to the older model the Rats had gotten stuck with.
The Maggots groaned again as it landed on the ground and one of its doors fell off its hinges.
"Team Rat," Chris told them as the camera panned back to them, "I'll see you at the campfire for the first elimination ceremony of the season." He laughed, then high-fived Chef.
The seven losers grudgingly made their way to their new abode, and the camera focused in on Max near the back of the group as he sniffed. "Such incompetence. Are all of you good for nothing?"
"Excuse me? It ain't our fault we lost," Leshawna said, angry with Max. "The other team was faster than all of us even when we busted our butts out there!"
"Hmph! My point still stands," Max ignored the sista. "Now nobody bother me! I'm going to rest for a while because I deserve it after what we've been through today."
As Max sniffed once more while walking to his cabin with even more disdain than the last, he was completely oblivious to the glares he was receiving from his teammates.
The shot zoomed on to Scott, who was mad at first but then knew who to vote off. "I think I know who'll be on the chopping block tonight."
\
The footage skipped ahead with a dramatic beat, a full moon now shining over Camp Wawanakwa.
"The votes are cast," Chris said as the camera panned down to the campfire pit, the seven members of the Toxic Rats sitting among the eleven stump seats – Max and Leshawna in the front row on the far right; and Sammy, Scott, Sierra, Geoff, and B taking up the entire back – and Chris in position at the oil drum podium. "Those who receive a regular marshmallow can stay. But this season," the shot cut in closer to the host as the faintest beginnings of the series' deep and tense elimination music played, "one player will receive a very special marshmallow. A marshmallow you do not wanna eat." He motioned to the side as Chef walked up, wearing a hazmat suit and carrying a thick metal box marked with a hazard symbol.
Chef flipped open the lid of the box, revealing a single marshmallow with a bright but sickly green glow to it. "Whoever gets the Marshmallow of Toxic Loserdom," the host explained, "is out of the contest. Which means, you can't come back! Ev-er." He paused for a brief moment, then smiled and picked up the first normal marshmallow from the tray resting in front of him.
"The following players are safe," he announced. "Sierra," he tossed the first bit of white to the obsessive uberfan, who caught it eagerly.
"Scott." The second was thrown to the devious, who caught it in his hand with a smirk.
"B." The mute claimed his marshmallow with open hands.
"Sammy." The nervous caught her prize while frowning.
"And Geoff." The party guy got his next, catching it with his hat.
"And the Marshmallow of Toxic Loserdom goes to," Chris announced as the music began to rise. The camera cut to the back-right corner as Leshawna and Max stiffened up. As the tension in the music continued to build, close-ups of each contestant were shown – first Leshawna, then Max – as they began to tremble and sweat. The Marshmallow of Toxic Loserdom was shown glowing in a pair of tongs held by Chef, and finally the camera cut back to Chris as the music peaked and he said...
"Max."
"BLAST!" Max shouted in outrage. "You shall regret ever having met me, Chris McLean!" The glowing marshmallow was tossed at him, but he caught it and threw it back, though he winced at the pain; a few dark notes played as the toxic sweet burned a hole into the ground.
"If it makes you feel any better," Chris told him, "we came up with something new this season! You'll looove it."

The screen rotated around itself, the scene cutting to the torch-lit dock where, of all things, a large catapult had been set up. Max was sitting warily in its bowl while Chris watched nearby.
A short but grandiose fanfare played. "Say hello to the 'Hurl of Shame'!" Chris introduced excitedly, the series' sombre farewell tune beginning in the background. "Patent pending."
"I shall have my REVENGE!!" Max declared before he was catapulted into the air and hurled off into the distance over the lake.
"One down, thirteen to go," Chris told the camera with a grin, the series' capstone theme starting up. "Who's next in line? Find out next time, right here," he pointed downward, "on Total! Drama! Revenge of the Island!"
The camera jumped outward with each part of the title as usual, ending with a long-distance shot of Wawanakwa with the moon's broken reflection shimmering on the surface of the lake.
