2023.05.28 18:12 ty_rex Ledger "OS Outdated" Issue & Resolution
Title says it all. I bought my Macbook in 2014, so it's definitely old, but still works fine. Kind of annoyed, but I've been thinking about buying a new Macbook any way.
Before I drop $1,300-1,500 on a new Macbook, can the community confirm/assist with these:
- I can use my seed phrase on a new Macbook to restore my Ledger and access my Bitcoin?
- I know the Ledger App doesn't work on my current Macbook, but if I want to sell this one after buying a new one, how can I make sure any buyer has no access to my Bitcoin? Do I need to do anything else in addition to uninstalling the app? I know that won't do much, but does prevent a curious buyer from digging. Not extremely tech savvy on this front, but want to cover my ass here.
- Do other HW wallets have this software issue? For example, with all the Ledger BS lately, can I just buy a Trezor or something different, and find an easiecheaper solution to access my Bitcoin (and ETH) and move it to a new HW wallet? (i.e. instead of dropping $1k+ on a new computer).
Thanks so much in advance! Onward and upward in the next bull run.

2023.05.28 18:12 TheWildeChick Ghub Software for Blue Yeti Mac on Mac M1 can't get past 'Unblock Driver
This has been a problem that has been plaguing me for weeks. I have an M1 chip Macbook Pro, running on Venture 13.4.
I have two Blue mics a Yeti Nano bought before Blue was acquired by Logitech and a brand new Aurora edition Yeti. I can't get past the 'Unbock Driver' step on the Ghub software.
I have tried:
- Uninstalling by deleting the software from Applications, then deleting any file named 'logitech' or 'ghub' in Library/Application Support, Library/Cache, Library/Preferences, and Library/Audio. And deleting the securities appearances of the software in Security and Privacy.
- Emptying the trash.
- Shutting down and booting in safe mode.
- Reinstalling, and allowing Logitech Ghub permission in Screen Recording, Microphone, Location Services, and Bluetooth under Security and Privacy.
- Switched out USB ports. (I only have USB-C ports)
- Switched USB adapters.
- Uninstalling with previous steps, creating a new admin profile, and installing.
- Contacting support but they have told me to do everything I have been doing.
I have tried these steps and more for both mics, in and out of Safe mode for the past week. I can still use both mics, but I can't adjust the settings like gain, noise cancellation, treble etc. I was able to use the software with my Nano back in 2021 but ever since the switch to an M1 MacBook I can't seem to get the software to work.
Has anyone encountered a solution that actually works? Or should I cut most losses and try to return the Yeti while I still can?

2023.05.28 18:01 AutoModerator How To Choose What I will be Best Hosting For Your Website
Choosing the right web hosting provider for your website is crucial to ensuring that your site is stable, fast, and secure. With so many hosting options available, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. In this article, we will outline the key factors you should consider when choosing a hosting provider that is best suited for your needs.
Understand Your Hosting Needs
The first step in selecting a web hosting provider is to understand your website's hosting requirements. Consider the size of your website, the amount of traffic you expect, and the types of files you will need to host. For instance, if you plan to have a large website with heavy traffic, you will need a hosting service that can handle the load.
If you are just getting started and do not anticipate a lot of traffic or data storage needs, shared hosting may be a good option. Shared hosting is typically the most affordable hosting solution as multiple websites share the same server resources. However, if you are planning on running an e-commerce site or storing sensitive customer data, consider a VPS or dedicated hosting, which provides greater security and more control over your server.
Evaluate Hosting Uptime and Reliability
Uptime refers to the amount of time that your website is up and available online. Downtime, on the other hand, is when your site is inaccessible due to server issues or maintenance. When selecting a hosting provider, aim for a minimum uptime guarantee of 99%.
In addition to uptime, reliability is another essential factor to consider when choosing a web host. You want a host that offers reliable service and has a track record of delivering quality performance. Look for hosting providers with a solid reputation in the industry, positive reviews from customers, and reliable support teams.
Check Hosting Speed and Performance
Website speed and performance are critical to user experience. The longer it takes for your website to load, the more likely visitors are to leave and go elsewhere. When selecting a hosting provider, look for one that provides fast server response times and page load speeds.
Several factors can impact website speed and performance, including the server location, hardware specifications, and software optimization. Look for a hosting provider with servers located geographically close to your target audience, as this can help reduce latency and improve site speed.
Consider Hosting Security Features
Website security should be a top priority when choosing a web hosting provider. Hosting providers should have robust security features to protect your website from cyber threats, malware, and other security risks. Look for hosts that offer SSL certificates, firewalls, regular backups, and DDoS protection.
Review Hosting Support Options
When selecting a hosting provider, consider the support options available. Hosting providers should offer reliable, responsive customer support that is available 24/7 via email, phone, or chat. Some hosts even offer self-help resources like knowledge bases and user forums.
Look for hosts with a solid track record of providing excellent customer service and technical support. Check out online reviews and testimonials to see what other customers have to say about their experience with the host's support team.
Compare Pricing Plans
Web hosting prices can vary significantly depending on the hosting type and provider. When comparing pricing plans, consider the features, uptime guarantees, and customer support offered. Understand the renewal rates and any additional costs associated with your hosting plan.
It's important to note that the cheapest option may not always be the best value. Often, lower-priced hosting plans come with limited features and may not provide the reliability and performance you need. Consider the long-term costs of your hosting solution before making a decision.
Look for Scalability Options
Finally, when choosing a web hosting provider, consider your future growth needs. Your website traffic will likely increase over time, so it's essential to choose a hosting provider that offers scalability options.
Scalability options can include upgrading your hosting plan, adding more server resources, or moving to a VPS or dedicated server. Look for hosts that offer flexible, scalable hosting solutions that can accommodate your changing needs as your website grows.
Conclusion
Choosing the right web hosting provider is crucial to ensuring that your website is reliable, fast, and secure. When selecting a host, consider your website's needs, uptime guarantees, speed and performance, security features, support options, pricing plans, and scalability options. With these factors in mind, you can select a hosting provider that is best suited for your needs and provides a solid foundation for your online presence.

2023.05.28 17:58 ProgettoPrisma [NO FLAME] Why not switch to Linux Mint?
Hi,
i'm one of the people that i don't like Windows 11... too many bug, some strange slow down (double click that don't work and slow contextual menu), horrible graphic, too many privacy invasion etc...
Now i'm try Linux Mint and i discovered that this system can be a very very good alternative, from 6 month i tried to switch to a system that can be better of what Microsoft is doing... and every day i dicover new function and software that help me in the switch process.
I admit that i'm a little scared about the security of a system that is made from "hobbyist"(everyone can modify the code), and i don't want to be "labelled" as a "taliban" that use an OS that obtain 2 % world share... but the community assure me that mint is more secure that windows and the 2 % of share is not a problem.
Other people have done the same path? And why are you still use Windows 11 if there are a lot of solution and distribution that on linux are 100 % usable to abandon this monopoly?
Thanks very much!

Are there any options where the images are not to be uploaded to a website? Something that can be installed locally on the PC (I have a 3060 ti) so should have some power to do it. Also I want to upload gif (or very short videos) and then change face on each frame from a still image. Not a coder to use complicated python scripts. Please suggest if there is any free software that can do it. I know asking for too much but I am sure the community might have a solution or direction.

2023.05.28 16:57 SubcommanderMarcos New PC was fine yesterday, games running terrible today, no idea why
Hello! So this week I got this new PC, it's nothing fancy but a definite upgrade to my thing that died recently. Here are the specs:
- Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5 10400 @ 2.90GHz
- RAM: 16,0GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1197MHz (16-16-16-39)
- Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. PRIME H510M-E (LGA1200)
- Graphics: 4096MB ATI Radeon RX550/550 Series (ATI)
- Storage: 223GB EGON T2 240G (SATA (SSD)) (main) + 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM008-2UB102 (SATA (SSD))
I got this computer on tuesday, set it up normally, installed a few definitely not recent games and have been using and playing without a problem. Turn the thing on today and it's running every game like ass.
Games I tested:
- GTAIV: ran at around 60fps before, almost everything maxed, now doing between 8 and 12, and you can see it struggle to render things like sidewalks and buildings, even close to them
- Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, ran at about 30fps consistently, not great but I hadn't explored why yet. Tried now and only get... 4....
- Counter Strike: Source, installed just to test, because it's old and with an established engine, should run at a couple hundred fps easily but I'm getting 40.
Things I tried:
- updating driver to the latest version through the AMD software, as it wasn't on the latest before (23.5.1)
- edit: also tried disabling the secondary monitor I had added, no change, disabling Wallpaper Engine, also no change
- Googling, but all I can find are various old threads about similar but not quite issues, like people reporting artifacting and such, and the solutions when someone even replies are always "reinstall/update drivers" and such
I really need some help troubleshooting what is even going on, what changed from yesterday to today and knowing that, how to fix this. I just wanted to play some games on a lazy sunday morning...

2023.05.28 16:34 win10-reset-on-boot Is it possible to have a Windows system reset fully on boot?
I work at a school and we are getting some new Windows 10 computers for the computer lab. Ideally they would completely reset on boot, so all user files, etc, would be deleted and some specified software would be "installed". Is it possible to do this without booting from the network or booting from a restore point every time? If the restore point is the solution, how can I make sure all of the systems load from that on boot every time?

2023.05.28 16:29 BagpipeBandit Maximizing Your Cloud: A Fresh Take on AWS Optimization
I am excited to share that I have discovered a highly promising opportunity within a specialized niche that shows substantial potential for generating revenue.
Over the last three years, I've developed a suite of proprietary scripts that can efficiently optimize your AWS cloud environment. It's an agentless solution, which means there's no need for installation, and it can be operated in read-only mode, ensuring the safety of your company's data. This service is tailored to cater to businesses of all sizes, from small startups to large conglomerates, as long as AWS is part of your infrastructure.
While comparing it to the industry's prevalent commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software used for cost optimization, I found that my service covers several essential areas often overlooked by these conventional providers.
My service offers comprehensive, easy-to-interpret reports highlighting areas for potential cost savings and efficiencies that may not be immediately evident. Additionally, it includes automated housekeeping scripts that identify and clear unused resources, thus promoting more efficient use of your cloud environment.
I am currently seeking partnerships with businesses interested in leveraging my services. I would be pleased to offer an initial consultation free of charge to help identify any specific areas of concern that might not be immediately apparent.
Additionally, I am on the lookout for sales personnel who could generate sales leads for the service I offer. A compensation structure based on commission or an upfront payment, contingent on successful business acquisition, is available for such positions.
Should you be interested, please feel free to reach out via direct message. I'm more than willing to engage in a no-strings-attached conversation about this opportunity.
Looking forward to hearing from you

It seems like there could be a software solution. Stream on a 30 second delay, that delayed feed could go through the program, and if you press the button, it could replace that feed with something else.
Certainly this could exist as a program for much less than the button cost, right?
