Major director Sashi Kiran Tikka tells idlebrain.com, the project with Kajal was initially a small one but it “became a solid one” as the writing team developed it. “It’s a police procedural which has some action and thrilling elements. It centres on a lady cop who has an IPS rank. We were on the lookout for someone who has that aura. As we were thinking of names, we thought of Kajal. We were in a quandary whether she will join us or not as she is still doing films with stars like Kamal Haasan and Nandamuri Balakrishna. But we thought, ‘Let us try once’. We took her time and Akhil narrated the story. I was there as well answering her queries after the narration. She later said, ‘You know what? I want to do this. Let me know when you want me to come’,” Sashi exults, adding that quite a bit of research went into the script. “We met a lot of cops, particularly women cops so that the perspective is clearer. Kajal is prepping for her part as it’s a new character for her. The film will be in a realistic space but the action and the drama will have a bit of sugarcoating.”
The pre-production is in full-swing and Sashi is looking to take the project in front of the cameras this June or July, with an intention to wrap it up by the year-end. “It will be shot completely in and around Hyderabad. Sricharan Pakala is on board to compose the music, while Mohit, Akhil’s friend, will be the director of cinematography. Kodati Pavan Kalyan, who edited films like Major, Colour Photo and Writer Padmabhushan, will be the editor,” he notes.

2023.05.17 21:02 smellslux What’s with most movie (Tollywood websites) critics giving poor ratings for most Telugu movies?
It looks like the bar for mainstream movies is set at 2.75/5 these days. Very few movies get a rating of 3* by some prominent sites like Greatandhra. I remember Idlebrain Jeevi giving 4* & 4.5* for most movies back in the day. I think 3.5* was pretty standard for a good movie until 2012 or so. While I mostly agree with Greatandhra reviews for most films, it’s the rating that’s kind of surprising to me.
What really happened? Has the quality of movies or content gone down now compared to like 10-20 years ago? I’m a big movie buff, watched over 5000 movies (mostly World Cinema). When I watched Virupaksha , I was completely blown away by the movie, it was unlike anything I’ve seen in Telugu , I personally felt it’s a 4* movie. I then read the Greatandhra review & was surprised to see a rating of 2.75. When these critics review, don’t they review from an Average movie goer POV??

A source close to the development tells us, “Work on this untitled project has kick-started. It will be an out-and-out entertainer synonymous with some of Chiru’s signature entertainers. Nenu Local and Dhamaka writer Prasanna Kumar Bezawada has provided the story. It will be laughs galore again from the megastar after Waltair Veerayya. The script work is in full-swing.”
The source adds that the film will get off the ground after the megastar completes Bhola Shankar, which is more than halfway through, and is eyeing a release on August 11.

Taking the opportunity, Chandoo pitched a couple of ideas and the versatile actor was impressed with both of them. The project is locked, that’s for sure. In a couple of months, Suriya will decide on one of the two ideas and will also inform the director about his availability. If he is staring at a delay because of his commitments, Chandoo, with the consent of Suriya, wants to embark on another project before he comes back to Suriya.”
The source adds, “Geetha Arts will be producing this untitled project, which is set on a massive scale. It will be Chandoo’s biggest budgeted flick to date and will be a multilingual affair.
