2023.05.31 17:15 starrdazedd Are there any suggestions or advice for a 23-year-old going through a career transition?
Hi! I want to acknowledge that I do understand that I’m in a good situation compared to many people my age. I do feel fortunate to be in this position.
However, at this moment, I am very unfulfilled with my major and career choice. I graduated last May with a co-major in Communications and English with a minor in Marketing. I thought these would be employable majors for someone who didn’t really know what they wanted to do. However, I have come to realize that my major was too broad, resulting in a lack of specific or captivating interests on my resume. I’ve been working for a "start-uppish" private equity firm as a marketing coordinator for the last year and kind of hate it. Since I work remotely and don't have anyone with marketing experience overseeing my work, I feel that I'm missing out on valuable career development opportunities. My boss is 70 and doesn’t understand how social media operates and it’s like going to war with him once a week. Not to mention, I was juggling a full schedule (40 hrs) and only making an hourly wage of about 16/hr. Anyway, with some new licensing issues with LinkedIn, we mutually agreed to shorten my hours to part-time.
This brings me to my next point. Currently, I'm undergoing ground school training to become a pilot. My dad is a captain at United, and I've found the initial in-flight experiences enjoyable so far. I appreciate various aspects of this potential career, such as having clear objectives and goals to work towards every day. It's different from marketing, where you constantly worry if people will show up to your promoted event or not. However, I do have reservations because I tend to overthink things. What if I turn out to be mediocre at flying? And as a woman, what if I want to start a family someday? Will a partner be okay with a mother who isn't at home every day? I guess I kind of have to think about these things now, which is kind of wild to me.
This all brings me to my main problem in the first place. Learning to fly is SO expensive. While I have some savings, with my current job becoming part-time, I need to explore other opportunities to cover my expenses in the meantime. It doesn't have to be a glamorous job; I just need something that helps me meet my current financial obligations. I am currently living at home because I can't afford rent and flying lessons. Should I search for multiple part-time jobs, or should I look for a full-time job? Most of the job interviews I'm getting are for sales-related positions, but I already know I won't excel in that field. If I'm not enjoying marketing, I can't imagine doing well in sales.
I apologize for the lengthy message, and I'm unsure if anyone will take the time to read it or if it even makes sense. But I genuinely appreciate your attention and guidance regardless. Thank you.

2023.05.31 17:15 AutoModerator RepWeidianSneakers Member Guide and Rulebook: Read Upon Arrival and Before Posting!
Hello, and welcome to
RepWeidianSneakers! Whether you’re a long-time member or someone new who just straggled in from one of the other replica subreddits, this
recurring post will serve as an introduction to or reminder of the subreddit rules. This group runs in several key ways that may be different from other groups to ensure we maintain a high-quality group where well-informed replica buyers can engage in constructive conversation regarding the best batches for various shoes, batch flaws of popular and commonly purchased batches, and QC posts of new and old products alike.
Please do your best to stay up-to-date on the latest subreddit rules and cultural norms in order to make sure that your participation in the group is in accordance with how we run things here! All sub rules are visible along the side bar if on desktop, and under the "About" tab if on mobile. We appreciate your attention and diligence to subreddit policies, and hope you enjoy your time here!
The following rules will be outlined in the following ways:
- Most Important Rule of the Sub
- Post Formats (QC, Find, Help Me Find)
- General Subreddit/Reddit-Wide Rules
Rule #1: Sneakers from Weidian, TaoBao only This one should be self-explanatory - QCs for shoes purchased from middlemen are not allowed on this sub. I understand that many users value the input from members in this subreddit specifically due to their reputation and credibility, but we want to keep this sub as pure to its purpose as possible. If there are specific people from whom you want input from, feel free to post in the other rep subs and tag them.
Additionally, when users ask for recommendations on where to purchase, make sure to provide links to Weidian or TaoBao stores, and not middlemen. Middlemen sell Weidian/TaoBao products at a markup for convenience -
always focus on the actual product. Rule #2: QC Post Title Guidelines: [QC] {Price in Yuan} {Batch} {Shoe Name} from {Seller Name} When posting your QCs or Finds, use the following format: [QC] {Price in Yuan} {Batch} {Shoe Name} from {Seller Name}.
Example: [QC] 400¥ FK Batch Travis Scott x Jordan 1 High OG Mocha from A GDJ Supplier The Group Automod comments on every single post in this group with a reminder of this title format.
If your title does not include each of the necessary components in the brackets above, please be proactive and repost with the correct format. If you don’t delete the post, a moderator will, and that or repeated infractions may result in a temporary ban from the group.
This rule exists to ensure the group is easily searchable to help make researching batches on your own as streamlined as possible. Rule #3: QC Posts need W2C Link:
If you are posting a QC, make sure to post the W2C link. If the listing link is dead, please post the link to the store where the shoe was purchased instead. No W2C link will result in the deletion of your post!
You are welcome to post Weidian links, TaoBao links, or links from any shipping agent except for PandaBuy, given that PandaBuy forces you to login to see the item, whereas the other agent links do not.
Linking a PandaBuy link and not an alternative link will result in the deletion of your post. Rule #4: Help Me Find Post Title Guidelines: [HELP ME FIND] {Shoe Name} + Picture of Shoe If you are hunting for a certain pair, your
post title must include the Full Shoe Name and Colorway as well as a picture of the shoe in question. If either is missing, your post will be deleted.
This rule exists to reduce the number of repetitive “Help Me Find” posts, as a user will be able to search previously posted “Help Me Find” posts for the shoe they want. Example: [HELP ME FIND] Jordan 1 High Chicago
Rule #5: Find Post Title Guidelines: [FIND] {Price in Yuan} {Batch} {Shoe Name} from {Seller Name} Okay, so you’re on WeChat, and a seller has posted a new product. You want to be the first one to post about it on Reddit, so you rush over and make the post. Great, pat yourself on the back. Just kidding. Don’t just stop there - put some thought into the post. How does this new find compare to other products on the market? Do they have potential? You don’t have to be an expert QCer, but give your general thoughts.
In short, were these worth finding? The hope is that with this general subreddit policy, it will encourage people to post high-quality finds and reduce clutter from low-tier finds that don’t add much to the group. Rule #6: Be Respectful of One Another Please be nice and courteous to one another. All rules of Reddiquette apply. Your membership in this subreddit is contingent upon your overall Reddit activity, not just limited to this subreddit. To put explicitly, this includes but is not limited to: harassing or disrespecting others in other subreddits, posting hate speech of any kind, or spreading misinformation. Any violation of this will result in the banning of your account and any alternate accounts you may be known to have!
Rule #7: No Cussing In line with the previous rule, no cussing on the sub, please. Often, on the rep subs, the only time people are cussing is to insult one another, spread misinformation, or speak illy in general. For this reason, an AutoMod is in place that will regulate posts and comments on the sub. Your post/comment will be deleted and you will receive a message alerting you if this happens. Bonus: Mr. Frosty can't post or comment without some sort of explicit language, so this simple rule (and the accompanying AutoMod) keeps the sub safe
Rule #8: Support Your Statements with Evidence Essentially, cite your source. Let's avoid being like other rep subs where people make up rumors or decide their opinions without any research or evidence.
If you comment saying a batch is the best or better than what has been posted, show us why. Link reference posts, rep vs retails, QCs, etc. Show, rather than tell, us why what you're saying is correct. If your statement is a good one, this shouldn't be difficult. As above, don't default to name calling if you can't support your statement. It is okay to have a well-informed opinion - it is not okay to have an uneducated opinion that you spread as fact.
If you run into issues with a member or members in the group that are not participating in this group norm, please tag a mod, and the situation will be handled accordingly.
Rule #9: No Seller Ads Self-explanatory. This especially applies to lost middlemen posting their fake QCs to try to gain business.
If you are a member and see this, please report the post. If a post receives enough reports, it is automatically removed and sent to the mod queue. This helps keep the group clean through community effort.
Rule #10: No WeChat Verification Posts I understand that you may want your WeChat verified in order to communicate with sellers or see their WeChat Moments. There are other subs for WeChat Verifications though. Please do not make these posts here. Use the appropriate subs. Posts will be deleted.
Rule #11: No Memes This group aims to be a research-focused subreddit. It prides itself on providing the most objective information possible. Please keep the memes or satire posts in other subs. This includes meme titles or captions such as "how fast do I need to walk" or "fire up the rep machines." These posts add little to no value and are often unoriginal anyway.
Any use of meme titles will result in a 14-day temp ban as previously announced, as will repeated infractions of posting other memes.
Lastly, this Group is Not Meant to Be a Direct Line to u/poncecatchemall Please reference his guides and resources linked below for answers to most commonly asked questions. He does not read chats asking repetitive questions, and mod mail is not meant to be used to ask specifically him questions, so do not use it for that purpose.

2023.05.31 17:14 Important_Session_28 What are you looking for in a server?
This is a long one so if you have no time or can't focus, don't screw yourself over by trying to read the word jumble:
After browsing the servers there are for maybe 2 weeks and always wondering how it could be better but is too late for some servers to even change course, here's my random list of things I'd like to see in a server.
You can agree and disagree, add or remove some of the things I've listed. Everyone's looking for their own thing and have their own perspective on what could ruin a server. Let's imagine a server worth playing.
I actually want to see some more lists.
-BBB version (I like oldschool, tbh I should try the new versions to see if I'd like them too...)
((It could be that the old versions will lose popularity as new generations of "gms refugees" show up.))
-Hosts that know how to run a server (so it wont be gone in a month)
-No vote2win (no nx gacha tickets/whatever)
//-No multiclient(this is kind of double edged because even I've preferred item mules and such with maplestorys limited beginner inventory)
-No leech
-No pay2win
-No AFK minigames
-Balanced/basic bossing system (aka. No boss defeating spam in the chat every minute, 24/7 )
-Special events for at least big occasions like winter- and summer breaks, christmas, anniversary etc
-> 1-2 Month long events for "rare" cosmetics / face / hairs etc.
-Website has library of mobs and loot especially if they've changed drop rules etc.
-Maple island beginners are mentioned separately in rankings because it looks like fun.
-OG classes (or adding very much balanced new classes too)
-Skill balancing etc but by now I honestly have no idea how messed up they were back in the day.
-Monster book & all quests(including PQ's) working
-PQ Party search system so people don't end up being afk at PQ entrance=people can search for party while grinding.
-Roll system for party quest loots
-Added maps and quests from other regions
-No hp washing - progressive auto hp gain or quests for hp?
- Some donor perks that don't mess up the market/turn the game into p2w.
Thought it over and I have an idea but don't know how it'd work in reality:
// Maybe a decent priced monthly donor system with some free cs perks? Like in elder scrolls online:
-> You pay for a membership and on top of that get donor cash worth the amount you paid for the membership. (so the membership is just a plus)
-You can buy more donor cash during the membership period if you need to but it does not add to the time of the membership. You can renew the membership once the time's up/about to be up since there's no actual subscription system in private servers (which honestly kind of messes this whole system up.)
- Example perk (from Eso): donor account has expanded inventory space for the period of paid donor membership // Keep in mind there would still a chance to f2p perma expand inventory too, but donors would have at least something worth paying for and maybe a bigger inventory in general for the subscription time?
I've never been a donor so I'm not sure what's decent in "the market" or what people would deem worth the price if its not p2w.
-> except paying for non-game breaking convenience.
Sorry for the long post. Even I'm tired of reading it by now so there are possibly typos or random sentences after ten edits.

2023.05.31 17:14 EstablishmentThat142 Book Summary: Influence by Robert Cialdini
"Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion" by Robert Cialdini is a book that explores the psychology behind human influence and persuasion. Cialdini delves into various principles and techniques that individuals and organizations use to sway others and gain compliance.
The book outlines six key principles of influence:
- Reciprocity: People feel obligated to return favors or concessions. By initiating an exchange and offering something of value, you can trigger a sense of indebtedness in others.
- Commitment and Consistency: Once people commit to a certain belief or action, they strive to remain consistent with that commitment. By getting individuals to make small commitments, you can increase the likelihood of them following through with larger requests later on.
- Social Proof: People tend to look to others for guidance on how to behave or make decisions. By demonstrating that others have chosen a particular course of action, you can influence individuals to follow suit.
- Liking: People are more likely to comply with requests from individuals they know, like, and trust. Building rapport, finding similarities, and creating positive connections can enhance your persuasive abilities.
- Authority: People have a natural inclination to obey authority figures. Demonstrating expertise, credibility, and legitimacy can enhance your persuasive power.
- Scarcity: People place a higher value on things that are scarce or in limited supply. Creating a sense of urgency or emphasizing the unique aspects of an offer can drive people to take action.
Cialdini supports his principles with research studies, real-life examples, and anecdotes to illustrate their effectiveness. He also highlights how these principles can be ethically applied in various contexts, such as sales, marketing, negotiations, and personal relationships.
Overall, "Influence" provides valuable insights into the psychological factors that drive human behavior and offers practical strategies for influencing others in an ethical and effective manner. It serves as a guide for understanding the power of persuasion and becoming more aware of the techniques used to sway our decisions.

2023.05.31 17:14 jtshinn Question about hay cutting deals
I have a 20 acre tract, 10 of which is hay field, has been since before I had it. I have a farmer that takes the hay off, he's cut it twice so far. At a couple different times he's talked about fertilizing it, but insinuated that I pay for the fertilizer. I don't charge him for the hay, just take the work to cut it in trade. I get to keep the tax incentives going for this and keep the field from going wild so when/if I look to build out there it isn't a mess. Should I be the one paying for fertilizer here? Or if I did should I then recoup that cost in the hay? (I don't want to make money here really, break even is fine imo.) I'm looking for any and all advice here, I'm a true novice in the whole field (lol, get it?). Thanks

2023.05.31 17:13 anon3220 Asking For A Raise
Similar to another post floating around here, figuring I'd see what parts managers who may frequent this sub think
I've worked the parts counter for many years now and most of that was at a Nissan dealer with CDK on the West Coast being paid hourly. About a year ago now I moved to Texas and started a job at a BMW dealership out here. It took about a month for me to get into gear and be shown a bit of the ropes about this dealerships processes and such, as well as familiarizing myself with the catalog before being the top salesmen month after month.
When I say "top salesman" we are paid on department gross so it's not like we're competing with each other directly, but I still cant help but feel I'm doing something these other two dudes are not doing considering the margin difference in sales - in April, for instance, I moved 100k more than both of my coworkers who have worked here for years and outside of that it's typically always a good 50-60k over. Again, where we may not be competing against one another straight up, when it comes to making the most money in parts for this dealership and moving the most stuff, it is me who is doing it and with good accuracy as well. On that point it's also worth mentioning that I typically never have a lot of outstanding SOR's, the stuff I order gets put on the cars or picked up by customers.
I'm making decent money here - more than on the West Coast, we have a good corner on the market being the only BMW dealer in the area, but it's not quite what the manager advertised when it comes to salary - close, but not quite there.
If there are any PM's who frequent this sub, would you consider this achievement, going from no BMW experience to being the top salesman every month, raise worthy after a year?

2023.05.31 17:13 Newyear101 Feeling Stuck in my Marketing Career: Considering a Shift to Garden/Landscape Design
I was the head of the marketing team for a music tech startup for a solid three years. However, in November, I unfortunately was a part of a layoff. I was lucky to quickly land a freelancing gig with a different tech music startup, where I've been doing social media management. Initially, they promised me a full-time position, but it's been six months now, and the promise remains unfulfilled.
While the financial aspect is stable since I'm making the same amount of money as before, I can't help but feel like I've taken a step backward in my career. The work environment is undoubtedly better in this new role, but it's highly siloed, and others on the team are incredibly hard to reach. These factors have led to a lack of motivation and a sense of procrastination, which is completely unlike me.
I'm fully aware of how fortunate I am to even have a job, considering the current circumstances. The guilt of not being grateful for the opportunity weighs heavily on me. However, recently, I've found myself completely engrossed in my passion for gardening. Every spare minute I have is spent learning about plants and design, and I can't help but wonder if this could be something I could pursue as a career.
The idea of transitioning into garden and landscape design is both exciting and daunting. On one hand, I'm afraid of giving up something I should be grateful for, especially considering the privileged position I'm in, making a decent living and doing someone's dream job. On the other hand, the thought of being able to work on something I'm truly passionate about fills me with a sense of fulfillment. I do have a BFA in fashion design so I do have some experience with design processes but obviously this is an entirely new field.
How do I move forward from here? Should I take the leap and explore a career in garden and landscape design, or should I keep my somewhat stable job in marketing? Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all for taking the time to read my post and for being such a supportive community.

2023.05.31 17:12 Key_Noise_5454 Finanza personale SOS

2023.05.31 17:11 Cultist6661 Anyone have Put Options on BUD or TGT or anything else related to LGBTQ marketing?
Just wondering. It seems like a decent strategy because I can’t imagine big players in the market are clamoring to buy either BUD or TGT or any company who is getting backlash for their transgenderish marketing.

2023.05.31 17:10 MD-68000 What were (or still are) the most popular retro game consoles and handhelds in your country?
My experience as a 90s brazilian kid was like this:
Common consoles and handhelds: -
Sega Master System: Thanks to
Tec Toy's efforts and Nintendo/Gradiente being too late, Sega was extremely successful in Brazil, starting with the Master System. The console had many exclusive games and models here, being a recurrent choice for low-income families.
Along with the Mega Drive, it's a console that's still (*awfully*) manufactured here.
Tec Toy really needs that nostalgia money to live. - Sega Mega Drive (A.K.A. Sega Genesis): The most successful 16-bit console here. Once again, it had many exclusive bundles, models and even
a special cart to access your bank account!
-
Super Nintendo: More expansive and a bit less popular than the Mega Drive, but still extremely beloved. Games like Super Mario World, International Superstar Soccer Deluxe and
Top Gear (SPECIALLY Top Gear. For some reason, this game has a HUGE fandom here) are fondly remembered to this day.
- Game Boy: Exploded in popularity due to the Pokémon fever in the 90s.
-
PlayStation: Ate Sega and Nintendo's lunch in the country due to rampant piracy. Modded consoles and bootleg games were a totally common sight at flea markets.
-
PlayStation 2: Same thing as the PlayStation. It's still popular among low-income families.
-
Xbox 360: The PlayStation 2 of the 7th gen and Microsoft's first mega hit here, I think. Nowadays, its an option for people who want something more than a PS2 but can't afford a XONE/PS4 or PS5/Series S/X.
Clones and other stuff: Dynavision 3: A rather popular NES clone factured by the late Dynacom, a brazilian electronics company. It used to be another target for those who couldn't afford newer consoles.
Polystation: Another NES clone, but similar to a PlayStation. The spawn of the devil, the ultimate birthday killer and a favorite among naive mothers. It's still sold with other NES clones in cheap electronics stores.
Brick Game: If you are from a third world country
, you probably played Tetris or some kind of racing game with one of these. Another hit among low-income families.
Tamagochi: Used to be sold in flea markets. Many school kids (specially girls) had one.
LCD Games: Too many to be listed. I think the Enduro-style models were the most sold ones.
