Hello, I saw this previous post: https://www.reddit.com/msp/comments/lc4av6/dns\_without\_ad/ from a couple years ago and had some questions about it. Here's what I'll be dealing with, and if someone could tell me if I'm missing anything I'd appreciate it.
I'm going to have 2 physical servers with Windows Server 2022 on them. Each one will have DNS and DHCP installed in a non-AD environment. What I'm getting from the link above is that that both machines should be in a workgroup like mycompany.local. We'd then install DNS and then DHCP. I saw this mentioned as well:
Windows DHCP must be configured with ‘always dynamically update dns records’ and ‘dynamically update for clients that dont request’. You cannot use dhcp on a router or something. Must be windows dhcp.

So, what do I need the DHCP for exactly? I believe the other machines that will access this for a certain application are already on a domain, but I may be mistaken. Is there anything else I'm missing? I've been trying to search for additional steps for the config, but if it's just that simple to install the roles and configure forwarders and a couple other items in DNS and DHCP, that are already listed, then ok.

I posted this last year when i made it on my old account, which i forgot the password to. Folks were asking for me to update next year, so here we are! Overall pretty happy with it. Added calendula and valerian (theyre babies still-points if you can spot em) and a new pond this year.

So a few years ago, while I was going to college I had a really big problem with procrastination. I have ADHD and so I would spend hours thinking about my schedule while scrolling/playing games on my phone. So I asked my wife, to set a screen time password. It’s helps a lot actually. But now I have a Another issue and need to reset my phone. I need my screen time password..
My wife forgot the email she used and the password.
How do I fix this?

This is causing me anxiety as I am leaving for the military in about two months and won’t be able to help them with stuff. What I was able to do in 30 minutes on the computer took my father over 8 hours. I just don’t know what to do.

Inquisitive Universe: This evening, we're going to be making our way tentatively through the world of software. We'll start with software in general and over time we'll end up at smartphone software.
Now I know very well that software can be very contentious and subjective so I'll stick mostly with the objective stuff. Anything that is subjective that I touch are mostly my personal views which I am entitled to.
With that being said, let's cast off.
When we were younger, our teacher stood in front of a dead HP Compaq desktop and declared that a computer is divided into two parts.

1. Hardware and
2. Software

She went on to state that hardware are those parts that we can see and touch but software are those parts that we can see but cannot touch.
Even tho, I never saw that desktop come on 😂😂😂, I swallowed the definition hook, line and sinker.
I'm sure that some of us may have been fed that definition as well. However, it's time to upgrade.
Software at its most basic is a collection of instructions and data that tells a computer how to work.
It can also be defined as all the information and data processed by a computer.
If you've ever bricked a phone or laptop, you'll understand this part very clearly. Because without software to tell the hardware what to do, the hardware is absolutely useless.
How does software work?
Oh that's easy. Software acts as the middle man between you the user and the hardware.
How?
Simple, it does this by converting human commands into machine language that the hardware understands.
A good example is the camera app on your phone and the cameras at the back of your phone. One is software while the other is hardware.
You tell your camera app that you want to take a picture, your camera app (software) tells the camera (hardware) what to do (i.e. take a picture).
If the software and hardware work as intended, a picture should appear on you phone.
Software helps humans and computers communicate or at least understand each other by converting human commands into machine language that the computer understands.
How is software created?
Well in the past, software was originally written by hand and each type of computer had its own special type of software that was written for it.
Thankfully, these days, the process of creating software has been standardized and you can do it on your computer instead of by hand.
The process of writing software from scratch is known as programming. The people who write software programs (software) are known as programmers or software developers.
Side note: Coding and programming are not the same. A programmer writes programmes from scratch. A coder converts software from one software language to another e.g from Java to PHP.
In your smartphone or any other general multi-purpose PC, there are generally two levels of software.
Low level language: machine language High level language: programing language
Machine language is the software code that the hardware understands. This is usually in binary code e.g. 1010101
This is the code that CPUs work with.
Programming language is the language that humans use and understand. There's a lot of them. Examples include: C, C++, Pascal, Java, PHP, Cobol, HTML, Python etc.
These are the languages that are used to build the apps, games and operating system software that we all use today.
These programming languages are translated into machine language by a compiler, interpreter or assembler.
This is how instructions pass from you to the software, then the interpreter, machine language and finally the hardware (CPU, GPU, Cameras etc.).
One more definition of software I forgot to add is that software can also be defined as any entity that you interact with on a screen or display of any sort.
So lets quickly move on to...
Types of software
Now, I won't go into details much. I'll list them out and leave links at the end.
There are many types of software but they can be divided into two main groups. The first is the purpose of use and the second is the nature or device/platform of use.

1.) Bring a phone that can pass along a WiFi connection (Pixel, Galaxy, etc.). An iPhone does not have this ability.
2.) Buy an internet connection for one device.
3.) Once onboard, set up your internet package on your Pixel, Galaxy, etc.
4.) Turn on WiFi Hotspot in your settings. Make note of the network name and password.
5.) Have all your other devices connect to that network with the password that was in your Hotspot settings.
Your Pixel, Galaxy, etc will act like a WiFi router that passes along the RC internet connection. Make sure your other devices are nearby and they will have access to the internet.
I have had up to three other devices connected to my Pixel at one time while onboard.

So Optimum bought out SuddenLink a while back. I never logged into Optimum after they did... I remember an email with my ID and Password and everything. But i don't remember what the actual Id and password were. Also, I dont have an "access code" that the chat feature on their website keeps asking for.
After 2 hours of chatting, I was able to get the phone number on the account, account number, address. But i need an access code. Everywhere says "it's on the bill they send" but i haven't received any bills either.
So chat asks for my MAC. I give it to them and they said it's not registered in the system.
All i'm trying to do is figure out why my bill is outrageous, and i cant cancel without logging in, which i cant do...

Hi,
This's been happening for the last 2 weeks, every time I try to log in through the epic login (PSN link) it shows and error right after I try to connect with my PSN e-mail and password. It works normally until the my account sony com log in auth code page pop-up and I enter the code and hit next. When it finally reaches the EPIC page it shows the error. I thought it would be a google chrome error, I cleared cache and data but it is still happening it doesn't log in into the eppic account, therefore it doesn't start the game.
Help please and thanks in advance!

• User names can be 4 characters long.
  
• Sign up as an affiliate removed. Both creators and fans can generate referral codes. These will be displayed in your dashboard on the platform.

Ondato Biometric KYC 🔍

Redesign of Creator Sign Up Flow ✏️
We originally planned to have creators register, get directed to pass Ondato KYC before being allowed access to the platform.
After speaking to the devs, Ondato, creators and looking at what Only Fans does we have decided this is not the best method.
We want to make it as easy as possible for creators to register and explore the platform. It's one thing to fill in a form, it's another to give over your biometric scan and ID.
The way Only Fans flows is everyone signs up as a fan first with name, email and password. After accessing the site users apply to become a creator and then must pass Ondato KYC before being able to post content.
We've had the same feedback from very large accounts. They prefer to register then do hard KYC after.
Our goal for the first week or so is get as many creator registrations as possible. We are guaranteed to get significantly higher interest if creators are permitted to do KYC verification once inside the platform.
When can Creators Upload Content? 📸
We have a meeting with the dev team tomorrow to approve some recommended UI changes that will improve the flow of the site.
As mentioned we want to run heavy marketing for a week or so, getting as many creators to register in return for their first month free fee.
We also want to give creators the opportunity to promote their referral links, spreading the word of #Cummuniti. This is what led to Only Fans massive initial user growth, creator referrals.
After this we will let creators do Ondato KYC and upload content.
When will Marketing Start 🚀
The dev team are based in New York and will upload the latest version of the platform tomorrow.
After that we will invite our database of almost 500 creators to register and start promoting on socials their referral links.
Crypto and platform marketing will commence.
It's easier for us to wait till things are perfect than market now and have 50 creators asking why they didn't receive confirmation emails or affiliates asking why they can't sign up as fans. It will make for a much smoother launch and marketing once the updates go live.
Will there still be a Live Feed of Creator Registrations? 💋
Yes we will display this.
As mentioned above, given we have simplified the creator sign up process and removed the need to do hard KYC yet, we expect to get much larger interest in these first 1-2 weeks.
A final comment 🗣
The admin's days are being consumed by answering the same questions repeatedly. Everything you need to know is in the pins. When you come to the group, please cycle through the last few and update yourself.
If you're one of the few people who constantly comment on each individual trade or hold the project to a minute by minute schedule, please take some time away from the screen.
The team tokens are locked, we are funding the building and have the most at stake. We don't watch each trade, we aren't phased when we're advised by the dev team to wait a day for something to be perfect,
This is all part of the process of launching new technology.

Does anyone have any experience with this?
There will be batch connection requests. They will be acting on my behalf messaging, sending connection requests, and using inmail.
I'm not keen on the idea. I want to understand if this is common practise, and hear your thoughts.

Hi,
I’m hoping someone can explain my new network situation. I have a sky router, which cannot be turned into modem mode connected to a TP-Link Deco XE75 router. I turned off the Wi-Fi to the sky router to reduce noise and it all works I can connect devices both wired and Wi-Fi to my XE75 which can all connect to the internet, I can assign static IPs to my homelab and speed seems uneffected.
But looking online I only see people say that it wouldn’t/shouldn’t work. And I wondered if anyone with more expertise could explain the the flow of traffic and any unforeseen issues I may later run in to.

• Created :core:corefeature, :core:coreio, :core:coretransceiver, :core:coreuser:coreapi & :features:billing modules.
  • :core:corefeature includes :core:coreui, :core:coreauth, :core:coreuser, :core:storage, :core:coretransceiver, :core:coreanalytics.
  • :core:corefeature will be implemented by all modularized features moving forward.
• Created FeatureViewModel to allows for quick access to the AuthRepo & UserRepo.
  • Currently LoginViewModel & ForgotPasswordViewModel inherit from this.
  • Moving forward all feature ViewModels will inherit from FeatureViewModel.

UI:

• Created AuthCoordinator.kt as an abstract class to be implemented by Login/Sign up related feature coordinators.
• Created CreateAccountCoordinator.kt which extends AuthCoordinator.kt.
  • This allows for error handling based on different types of errors that can occur during account creation.
• Refactored ChatFragment & ChatViewModel to utilize new approach for reading the User and handling anonymous users.
• Added member_required_title_chat string resource to :core:coreui for upselling RTTV chat for anonymous users.
• Added PaidContentChat to MessagingTypes enum in WelcomeFragment.kt.
  • Proper messaging now shows when anonymous user taps the RTTV chat EditText, previously was default messaging.

• Fixed crash when opening image picker for updating the profile picture on the EditProfileFragment on Android 11 + due to how we requested all apps on device based on intents MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE & Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT.
  • Android decided that on Android 11 + that apps on a user’s device were considered personal information.
  • Upload of image fails with 400 InvalidParameter, but the app no longer crashes. Will work with backend to resolve.

• Updated ErrorResponse.kt to include the errors property, which is populated in cases where multiple errors occur from a single call, like create account.

• Created BadRequestException, UnauthenticatedException, UnauthorizedException, NotFoundException, RequestTimeoutException, ConflictException, ContentGoneException, TooManyRequestException, InternalServerException, BadGatewayException, GatewayTimeoutException, EmptyExceptions to allow for more manageable consumption of common network, parsing, storage errors.
• Created ApiResponse sealed class, meant to replace legacy NetworkResource.
  • Has 3 children; Loading, Success, Failure.
  • ApiResponse is meant to be returned only from a Transceiver (networking) to the repository layer.
• Created EmptyResponse to handle empty responses.
• Created ErrorResponse to wrap information regarding why and API call failed whether locally or from request/server problems.
• Created IoResponse to act as an object to be returned from either the Transceiver (network) layer or Local Storage layer to the Repository layer.
  • This allows us to completely remove the need for UI components to directly require knowledge(depend upon) of Networking related models/logic.
  • The screen should only care about getting data or how to handle an error.
• Created IoError to handle wrapping errors that may occur in the networking/storage layers and make it consumable to the UI components.

Extensions:

• Updated ErrorResponseExtensions’s toIoError() function to sort the addition of multiple errors.
• Created HttpExceptionExtensions to easily convert response codes into HttpApiException.
• Created ErrorResponseExtensions to easily allow for conversion from ErrorResponse to IoError.
• Created ThrowableExtensions to easily convert a Throwable object to our ApiException.

Networking:

• Created BearerTokenInterceptor to handle appending the Authorization header to our API calls.
• Created Authenticator to handle challenges/refreshes to 401 (Unauthorized) response codes.
• Created ApiRepository to handle single instance setup of our networking related configuration and client setup(timeouts, JSON settings, interceptors, etc.).
• Created BaseTransceiver to be implemented by our current networking client features.
• Created NetworkTransceiver which extends BaseTransceiver and handles making our requests using Kotlin Flows or regular suspending functions.
  • The Flow wrapped request logic handles updating(emitting) our ApiResponse(Loading, Complete, Failure) states based on the API interaction.
  • This easily allows us to modify how we handle response from our APIs in singular place.
• Removed NetworkErrorInterceptor.kt.
• Errors are now handled by the Repository layer and transformed into consumable information for the ViewModel layer to update the UI accordingly.
• Updated OkHttp from 4.9.0 to 4.10.0

Auth:

• Created AuthenticationRepository to act as Base Repository for our various auth options.
• Created OauthRepository to handle standard email/password functionality as well as token related logic(revoke, etc.).
• Created GoogleAuthRepository, child of AuthenticationRepository which handles our Google related authentication logic.
• Created FacebookAuthRepository, child of AuthenticationRepository which handles our Facebook related authentication logic.
• Created AuthStorage to handle read/write of access token/refresh tokens.
• Created AuthTransceiver as an abstract implementation of our NetworkTransceiver class, meant to be used with the networked RT API calls for Authentication.
• Created OauthApi
• Created OauthTransceiver, child of AuthTransceiver.
• Created GoogleAuthApi
• Created GoogleTransceiver, child of AuthTransceiver.
• Created FacebookAuthApi
