2023.06.06 23:57 Superduperbals Passed my Qualifying Exam!

72 hours ago I was shaking and on the verge of throwing up from the stress and anxiety that I had written some absolute dog shit papers and that I would just embarrass myself in the oral exam, and end up getting kicked out of school. But somehow by the grace of the extradimensional machine elves I gave my presentation like I had practiced it for weeks, when even this morning I was barely functioning beyond reading the slides, answered every question during the 2 hour questioning period like a goddamn pro, with a confidence that I had never ever seen before in myself - kind of freaky actually. The stress of this had been hanging over my head for years, the catharsis is unreal. Just wanted to share the good news!

2023.06.06 23:55 robot_tree25 Adopt 1 kitten or 2 into home with a dog??

Hello! I have a ~2yr old dog and am adopting a kitten :) I have heard its best for the kitten to adopt two at a time so they have a playmate and learn social skills etc... wondering if all that still applies if I'm bringing the kitten home to a house with a dog? I imagine the two will play etc... but would it be preferred still to adopt 2 kittens instead of 1?
AND if it is preferred... is it chaos for the dog to have 2 new kittens OR is it somehow easier on the dog because the kittens are entertaining each other and leaving him alone more?
Advice greatly appreciated!!

2023.06.06 23:55 Agitated-Chemical895 I’m going to be moving out soon but I don’t know if I’m quite ready yet.

I’m going on my senior year in college, and this coming semester me & my brother are planning on moving out of my Mom’s house together. Our new house won’t be far at all from my Mom’s and we are moving in with close childhood friends, but it’s still something that’s troubling me a bit. I have never really been away from my Mom; we’ve always been a close family & she has always been a stay-at-home Mom to be there for us.
We have already talked to her about it and she seems okay with it, but I think I’m just afraid to upset her when we’re both gone & it’s tearing at me. She’ll still have my little God-sister who recently started living with us & our dog to keep her busy, but it still kinda hurts to think about since again we’ve just been used to always being together. Maybe I’m just a Mama’s boy lol but I think it’d help to maybe hear anyone else’s moving out stories or advice. Thanks.

2023.06.06 23:53 jdub42090 Dog pulling on walks with friends

Whenever I walk my pup with friends, he is constantly pulling hard to the point it’s like he’s hopping with his back feet. I find it strange because when it’s just him and I, he walks normally with little to no pulling. I assume it’s because he’s super excited but even if he pulls when he sees an animal, it’s not the same type of pulling. Does anyone have any recommendations to help with this? He already wears a martingale collar but he doesn’t seem to care.

Budget: Flexible but time constraint
Non-negotiable Items: Stove, Tarp, Sleeping Bag, Fleece
Solo or with another person?: Solo
Additional Information: Confident in all of the gear. Feel like i'm on the edge of spending a lot more money and/or giving up items to go lighter. Have warmer bag, xmid, other layers at home that can be sent to me quickly.
Worn clothes haven't been weighed. Ankles only play nice with la sportivas or the big ole merrels, but the prices on la sportivas are practical extortion at this point for a shoe that will last half as long as the moabs.

2023.06.06 23:52 iknowyouknow100 Have you changed since having your baby?

My husband (m 33) believes that I (f 29) have fundamentally changed after giving birth to our daughter (5months). I will admit that my anxiety disorder and OCD has certainly flared up quite a bit. However, my morals, values, likes, and dislikes remain the same.
I EBF and am our baby’s primary caregiver, while my husband works remotely in a job he hates. (I am looking for remote work for myself, to begin ASAP). I’ve always managed our finances, and we are doing alright, but the loss of my paycheck is stressing my husband out.
My husband and I argue a ton now. He has said some really mean/disrespectful things to me while he’s been upset.
However, his main complaints about me are that he feels like I prioritize the baby over him and that hurts his feelings, and he thinks that I should love the baby and our dog equally.
My husband and I have been together for 11 years, but have only lived together for 6 years. Our dog is 9 years old. I raised her myself before moving in with my husband. My dog used to be my “baby.” However, since having my actual human baby, I love my dog differently. She still gets treated wonderfully, don’t worry.
So, I would like to pose these questions to you all… 1. Do you love your spouse and baby equally? 2. Do you love your pets and baby equally? 3. Do you think we all change after having kids?
Also, I want to add that my husband and I are looking into individual and couple’s counseling, because we have brought up divorce a lot in the last few months. We’ve been together our whole adult lives and are best friends with a ton of love for one another, so we don’t wanna flush everything away.

2023.06.06 23:51 CoalTrain9224 Prostatitis in Australian Shepard

Ok so the last month of May into June has been a nightmare. My 5 year old intact Australian Shepard has had on/off again bleeding out of his penis leading up to today.
Before starting I want to share I was advised with my purebred Aussie that it was better to leave him intact if no problems arose physically or behaviorally. He’s only had one health scare 3 years ago over an anal gland expression done by the groomer.that required steroids and antibiotics.
I don’t have any reservations about him getting fixed or not I just want him healthy. At this point I WANT him fixed. I don’t even want to leave it up to chance.
So I work from home, 100% of my life revolves around my dog. Last month I wake up one morning to blood drops everywhere on the walls and bed spread. I call vet for emergency appointment. Urinalysis shows no UTI, x-ray reveals nothing. Vet says it’s likely prostatitis. He’s on Amoxicillin/Enryoflaxxicin* can’t remember the name for 3 weeks. Bleeding subsides.
Wake up today 2 weeks later after finishing antibiotics to blood drops again everywhere. I call vet he has his yearly check up tomorrow. I just want to speak any of the 4 vets that are there. I want to know if I need to take him to emergency vet over bleeding. I’m scared. They gave me refill on Amoxicillin.
So I guess I’ll know more tomorrow, but my question to anyone on here is what is likely the problem? Will neutering solve the issue likely? Even though I was advised by the vet not to I feel responsible for not getting him fixed early in life. Thank you in advance for any advice

2023.06.06 23:51 t0tal_Newb Old Apartment

So to make a long story short, I had a very deep background check for work at the end of 2022. During the interview portion of it, the lady asked me if I had any outstanding debt or bills sent to collections. I told her that it was just whatever was on my credit card (I pay it off monthly) and student loans. She asked if I was sure to which I replied "yes." She then informed me that I owed a couple hundred dollars to an apartment complex in Louisiana (currently in TX) that I moved out of in May of 2020.
This complex never informed me that I owed them anything. I called them up and asked if I could speak to a manager to sort this out. I was told the manager was not in that day and to call back in the next couple of days. When I called back, I was told that the bill was for the last 1/2 month of electric, the damage my dog did to the blinds, and not returning my keys/parking pass. The electric bill and repair for the blinds are obviously not the issue, but I am more that 100% certain that I returned my keys and parking pass. I even remember the small manila envelope that I put they keys and pass in when I did my final check out in the office.
The manager told me to send an email explaining my grievance to the complex while till on the phone with me. I sent the email explaining what's above. At the end of the email, I said that I would be more than happy to mail them a check if the issue was resolved. I was then told that they would not accept money from me no matter what and I would have to pay the collections company directly. By my understanding, that would cause my credit score to go down quite a bit and I would like to avoid that happening. I have not been able to get into contact with them since that last phone conversation. No response to emails or voicemails. How can I resolve this without getting screwed?

2023.06.06 23:50 cuddlesandwich Which HO are more likely to accept me bringing my own pets?

I’ve seen a lot of people have successfully gotten sits where they could bring their own pet(s) and I’m just wondering if there is a certain type of sit/HO that is more likely to be accepting when I have two small (friendly and well trained) dogs? For example, sits with only dogs, with only cats, with both, with only one dog, countryside, city, etc ☺️

2023.06.06 23:50 Kariered Both parents in hospital at the same time

So starting on Monday, both of my parents will be in the hospital at the same time.
My dad just had a lung transplant and is still in the ICU. He is relearning how to walk, eat, etc. He is 70 years old.
My mom is going to have back surgery on Monday. Some type of fusion surgery. She is expected to be in there for 3 or 4 days, then who knows how long it will be before she is recovered fully.
My sister lives with my parents but has a mental disorder that inhibits her from being useful. She can't drive, she can't work. I've been trying to find a mental health clinic to take her to. It's going to be an entire day process.
I was visiting my dad everyday for the past month because my mom got covid. Then my mom got better, then I got covid. I did not go around my mom at all, so IDK how I got it. I was wearing a mask everyday.
Then my dog fell and broke his hip and had to have emergency surgery. So now he constantly has to be supervised so that he doesn't jump or reinjure himself.
Anyway, I just feel super overwhelmed right now because of all of this. I feel like I have to take care of all 3 people in my family and the dog.
My mom will be in a separate hospital across town, like an hour away, from where my dad is. My sister claims that she can help with my mom because her hospital is closer to the house.
I just don't know what to do. I feel really overwhelmed.

2023.06.06 23:49 ChiGuyNY 9-year-old Golden Retriever service dog with mild and moderate hip dysplasia brace recommendations.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a company for a hip brace? Ortho Dog is one that I have been looking at.
I have a wonderful 9-year-old golden retriever service dog Luna who was recently diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia in her left hip and moderate hip dysplasia in her right hip after X-rays at a specialist. She receives dosequin with MSM, Gabapentin. We are going to add an anti-inflammatory when we see the vet in 2 weeks.
In 2009 I was hit by a car training for an Ironman triathlon. I've completed 11 Ironman triathlons. Luna is trained as a psychological service dog to look for heart rate restoration and eye movement when I have panic attacks or anxiety. I use holistic treatment for rib pain as it broke all 11 ribs.
She also swims 7 days a week in the Hudson River wearing a flotation vest which helps body post posture keeping her perpendicular with the water to reduce drag on her hips.
I have healthy PAWS pet insurance which pays 90% so I'm not worried about the cost.

2023.06.06 23:48 Chun-Li_Forever "YOUR FAVORITE ROLES" - SUZIE YEUNG

Check here [YOUR FAVORITE ROLES - (animedub's collection of favorite Voice Actors and their Roles)] for rules and previous names.
----------
MyAnimeList
Anime News Network
Behind The Voice Actors

(I'll try to contain myself with this one)
"Yuffie was the very first role I auditioned for and booked in LA. Quite literally, I received the audition the day after I arrived. At the time, I didn't have an agent and only a couple credits to my name..." ~ Suzie Yeung, April 2021
"I love Yuffie so much I just spent 30 mins writing about the intricacies and layers of her character and idk may post about it one day Btw it’s been exactly 3 years since I got the audition for her" ~ Suzie Yeung, June 2023
Been waiting a while to do this one: Probably one of the biggest breakouts in anime VO in the past three years, and one of my personal top 3 all-time VAs, the every so talented, the very sweet, and overall Best Bean: Suzie Yeung.
Her very first role she booked was on Sound Cadence's Kemono Friends, and at the time, she was still living, working, and going to school in Boston. But as if fate were calling to her, she packed up and moved to Tx and then eventually moved to LA. And for any proof that this is what she was meant to do with her life, as mentioned above, just one day she got into LA, she got the audition for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade as Yuffie. Already a solid staple on the LA side of CR dubs, as well as Netflix anime and video games. From roles that will make you get on your knees and bark like a dog, to the bestest of best beans, to strong and virtuous, and the must-protecs. A talented person in the booth and just as a nice of a person outside the booth as well in conventions or when streaming.
(Personal story: Suzie Yeung was the very first VA i've ever met at a convention. I've never been to a convention before, and my introverted ass doesn't like giantass crowds. But I went to one in my area, and she was the first VA I've ever met and intertacted with. And I mean it, she really is the nicest person.)
What are your favorite roles?

- Makima (Chainsaw Man): This... just all of this.
- Yuffie (Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade): Fun fact, I've never played a single FF game until I've seen her stream FF7R, and it inspired me to pick it up for the first time, similar story, watching Erika Harlacher stream P5R inspired me to pick up Persona for the first time in my life.
Suzie makes Yuffie so much fun, so much personality, and very emotional when it hit too. Like if I had to pick up one role that would represent the best of Suzie Yeung, it would be Yuffie.
- Vladilena Milizé (86): One of my favorite characters of 2021: compassionate to the 86 when no one else would be, and fierce (Especially with the "WHO GIVES A SHIT" line). Another one of her best.
- Jing Xialian (Appare-Ranman): One of my favorite roles she's voiced, reminding me of a certain kickass Chinese character breaking gender barriers. Def the role that started making me a big fan of hers.
- Yuri Honjō (High-Rise Invasion)
- Sumi Sakurazawa (Rent a Girlfriend)
- Eula Lawrence (Genshin Impact)
Honorable Mentions
- Erika (Akebi's Sailor Uniform)
- Ayumu Uehara (Love Live Nijigasaki)

2023.06.06 23:47 PeterLoew88 What dog kibble do you use? I am exhausted with all the options.

I transitioned away from Purina Pro because I didn’t like all the meat byproducts and corn/wheat filler at the top of the ingredient list. Was on NutriSource but the store ran out so I just picked up a bag of Instinct Raw Kibble blend (mix of kibble and raw food).
I understand the whole guideline thing about grain free kibble and I deliberately avoid anything that claims to be grain free, but common sense tells me animals - just like humans - will thrive on a more whole food based diet, so actual organic chicken rather than chicken byproduct or soy byproduct, for example.
To that end, does anyone know of a good kibble that features high quality whole good ingredients without any of the grain free concerns linked to heart issues?
Thanks!

I keep hearing what sounds like a mourning dove call, but it is very raspy and deep, like a dog barking. It's sometimes mixed in with the sound of other mourning doves, and it sounds drastically different.
It genuinely sounds like a dog learned how to mock a mourning dove.
What am I hearing? Is It a sick mourning dove? Any help would be appreciated. It's confusing me so bad.
