Can y'all link me to your favorite kitten enclosure wall things?
I have a tent and a crate, but I like to have a bigger area for them to romp when I'm in here (fosters are in my WFH office). I use our old Toddleroo playyard, but those walls are easily scalable, and one of my too-smart 5-week old foster kittens has already figured it out lol.

2022.01.07 02:07 plaintastic Baby Pressure Gate Recommendations?
I tried posting on
/beyondthebump but didn't get much traction...so I'll try here.
I am looking to get a new baby gate for our baby's bedroom doorway. We currently have the Toddleroo North States one that actually broke because I put too much pressure on it. It seems that these baby gates on amazon have such mixed reviews. Ideally I don't want one with a swinging door on it.

2021.12.03 17:36 autobotanist Baby Registry
I'm having my first baby in May and I've been working on a registry with an eye towards products not made in China. I'm happy to share the products I have found and a lot of items are available second hand but I am hoping for some help/suggestions for the items below:
Baby nail clippers - Literally every set I can find is made in China Snack Catchers - I was hoping for something like the munchkin ones but they all seem to be made in China Nursing Pillow - Both Boppy and My Breast Friend are made in China and I'm not having luck on alternatives Laundry Hamper - I'd really prefer a cute/kid looking one but worst case I can get a boring one Audio Only Baby Monitor - the VTech is highly recommended but is made in China
Purchasing Used: Items I couldn't find made elsewhere but was able to get relatively easily second hand Stroller - City Mini 2 + adapter for Graco Car seat (MIC but was given to me by my sister because her son outgrew it) Pack n Play - Made in China but easy to find second hand Crib + Changing Table - Graco again, made in China but found locally second hand
Finds for non-China production: Philips Avent Bottles - Made in Indonesia Ergobaby Carrier - Some made in China but many made in
India Burt's Bees Cotton Products - washcloths, clothes, sheets, etc. all made in India Baby Bjorn Silicone Bibs - Made in Sweden Marpac Dohm white noise machine - Made in USA Britax Infant/Convertible Car seats - Made in USA Toddleroo by North States Baby Gate - Made in USA (the metal gates are Made in China though)

2021.10.18 19:58 Night-at-the-Bronze Using a playpen that’s also used by chickens??
I belong to a community garden that is pretty focused on providing some space for children and babies to play in an urban environment. It’s a decent sized lot that is fenced in, covered in grass, and has vegetable plots for rent on the one side and on the other side there is a sandbox and toddler slides, toddler kitchen, etc. A few weeks ago a playpen showed up and I thought—perfect! I can stick my newly mobile baby in there while I run around with the toddler for a bit. Well, yesterday I go to the garden and one of the more involved members is using it for her chickens! These chickens live in her backyard and they decided to bring them along for a day in the garden. I’m so grossed out. I was kind of in shock so I didn’t ask all the questions I wish I did. Plus, she was there with friends and all their kids while it was just me and my 2 under 2. I was a bit intimidated.
But now I want to know—1. How often is this thing used for animals and 2. Are they always in the same spot or do they move around? Like, could any spot of the grass be used for animals?? I’m tempted to bring one from home that we don’t use and writing “for babies only” on it but then that would start a passive aggressive back and forth I’m sure. I’ve written 3 messages on the slack group and then deleted them because I don’t want to start drama. So please tell me…am I overreacting and being a city girl that’s overestimating how filthy the grass would be if chickens are kept there for an hour every once and a while? Or should I insist that the chickens have their own dedicated place and pen when they are there? Here is the type of playpen for reference:
playpen I am nervous because this woman has lived in the neighborhood way longer than I have and as far as I know, has helped make that place what it is. She has done a lot for the community and I’m a big nobody who knows almost no one. She’s not the head person but definitely inner circle.
Thank you for anyone reading this. I swear becoming a SAHP during Covid has sapped me of all social skills.

2021.04.27 22:23 ime783 Zip ties...not just for criminals. Seriously, zip ties have games the whole playpen game for us!!!
Zip ties...truly a gift from the gods
So Idk where my almost 2yr twins got their Herculean strength and mastery of teamwork from but somehow they figured out how to move their playpen (one of those big multi-colored toddleroo one..with extra panels), figured out how to bend the panels, and throw out everything!!!
Enter the magic of zip ties...so i used the metal handle of an old swifter and zip tied it the bottom of a few panels so no more bendy time. YAY.
Put some weight in a few sturdy canvas bags I had laying around. You know the one you get as a gift with purchase from Macy’s or Victoria secret that seem to just pile up somewhere in your closet and zip tied them to the outside of the pen in few strategic location ...so no more moving the play pen like 5 feet is what seems like seconds...Yay!!!
Still having an on going battle with the toy throwing, but I’ve ziptied (by the handles) of those little learning stations (think baby Einstein stuff) you know that one that come attacked to a table that can be removed and that babies love to throw around like a game a hot potato. At least no more throwing massive toys. :)
That’s all I got for today...just wanted to profess my love of zip ties. Obv, I cut the long string on the zip ties so my kids don’t poke an eye out or start gnawing of zip ties and develop a taste for rando loose plastic strings

2021.03.16 01:08 DNobleMan Rugrat Containment System
Hey dads! Hoping those more experienced could help me out!
We work from home and our first little one has started crawling. She’s into everything. I’m hoping to keep her in the living room using a “playpen” with me while I work. I need something that’s safe/sturdy that I can easily remove once she goes to bed. The space is about 10’x12’ and I want her to be able to use all of it. I tried the Toddleroo Play Yard but she was able to knock it over, and it’s also horrible to put out and take down.
Has anyone found a good solution for this? Help me keep my beautiful little psycho safe and happy!
