I have eaten some under nordic influence, but we are looking for full force nordic (yes I know, that it is not the first word coming to mind). But to make the task a little bit more interesting, no 3* and maybe even no 2. To be honest, we have been to two 3 Restaurants this year and spending 1400 Euro plus drinks is to much for me right now. Hey everyone! Have read through the stickied post, but there’s quite a large amount of books listed there, so was hoping to get some guidance.
We live on a homestead and market garden in the tropics, with a substantial amount of quality timber for home construction. We have a small house currently, but already have a terrace set aside for build.
Our budget is limited, and we would love to build our house from scratch. We have a good collection of power tools and some hand tools (full size chainsaw and mill, router, planer, rotary saws, chisel set), and are budgeted for what tools we will need (I think).
I would really love to do this all with traditional joinery, and limit the use of hardware that will fail in this climate long before well maintained wood (I have neighbors with very old houses where the wood is immaculate, but even recently built additions have rusted and rotting out hardware.
So here’s my question, if you had to select a set of books to bring someone from essential zero experience to a full home frame and build, what books would you choose?

Hi everyone, so I already posted a couple of days ago but since then I have gotten some new information and so decided to post again in a more detailed way maybe someone can help me.
On the 5th of March in the morning I enquired about a listing on autotrader posted by a trader called “James Cars”. He called me around 12pm that day. The car was a 2017 Suzuki Ignis and it had 120k miles and priced at GBP4995. I had been shopping around for a while so I knew that the low price was because of the mileage. I was concerned about the mileage obviously because that is the first thing that you look out for in a car. When he called me and I voiced my worries he assured me that these were motorway miles implying that any wear and tear would be less than if the car was used for short distances regularly. He assured me that the only issue that the car had was the stereo which had a broken screen and that he could fix free delivery for me from Birmingham.I agreed and gave him a 1000GBP deposit on the 5th of March and on the 6th of March I sent him 4000GBP.
On the 8th of March the car arrived and as soon as I started it it stalled. I called him and he assured me that the issue might be from the battery because the driver might have left it switched on. We charged it and all was fine.
On the 12th of March the check engine light came on. It took a while to diagnose as the mechanic told me that it could be a variety of problems. He even suggested I go to another mechanic in Hexham who might be more suited to deal with Suzuki engine issues. This took until April 28th to diagnose. The mechanic told me that the cambelt and the sensors are busted and that it would cost me around 1.3k to fix. I would like to point out that everytime we went to the mechanic, he reset the system and the check engine light went off and came back on again after about 60 miles, which is the distance we had driven it before it came on in the first place. So I suspect that the guy reset it so it wasn’t on when I drove it.
After this diagnosis we decided to get in touch with the seller, so we messaged him. When he didn’t reply we tried calling but his phone is always switched off. He has even deregistered his number on whatsapp.
I then remebered that I had transferred the money to a certain “Simon Cars”. We contacted a Simon Harrison Cars that we found in the area and he told us that he was not the person who sold us the car but he knows that a Pakistani national is posing as different dealerships in the West Bromwich areas, in order to gain people’s trust as an English family company. He has been also known to operate under “Stuart cars”.
We gave him a call on the phone number listed on the “Simon Cars” trading profile on autotrader, telling him that we know what he is up to and that we expect him to reimburse us for the car and any work we had done on it so far. He seemed really surprised but never denied anything. We told him that we will go to the police and he said to message him the registration number and he never replied back.
We have submitted a report to Action Fraud, and I have spoken to my bank. We are still waiting to hear back on the report but my bank said there is nothing that they can do.
I really hope someone can help me, maybe someone has been through something similar and can suggest what I can do. I know this might not seem like a lot of money but it is money that we worked hard for and for it to be taken away like this seems really unjust. We only arrived in the UK last September (after a very gruelling visa process) and we were so happy to be here finally, but this experience has really made me anxious.

Thought it over and I have an idea but don't know how it'd work in reality (TLDR is after the spoilers)

I need 5/4 deck boards for my system and Im stuck between either using Home Depot's WeatherShield decking board or Pressure treated boards from a local supplier (Kuiken Brothers). I’ve been playing X4 since the last expansion, but I fear I might have reached the limit of my hardware. My current save lags to death, no matter if I’m on the map or just moving around on foot. Yes, I’m on minimum graph setting since… Ever…
I’ve already made the “mods checkup”, and offlined all mods except the indispensable DeadTater and SectorSatellites. Right now, I’m 5 days in game, and have satellites in every system, meaning I know every price on every station. Also the lag has been getting worse bit by bit as the Universe grows, so mods are not the problem.
My specs (try not to laugh too much you internet nerds…) Motherboard: Asus Z170-P socket 1151 - Z170-P - Suporte (asus.com) CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 @3.2Ghz yada yada Graphs: Nvidia GTX 960 RAM: 16GB
Now the million dollar question: If I upgrade the CPU to an i7-7700 or 6700, socket 1151, will I be able to play de game decently, even if on lowest graph settings? If I upgrade the Graphs board to… Something better, will it help more than upgrading the CPU? I’ve read X4 had a bigger bottleneck on the CPU rather than the Graphs board, not sure if true. Is my PC so old that, even if I try to upgrade the CPU or the Graphs board, it will continue to perform poorly because old stuff belongs in the trash?
Also, If anyone wants to send me a PM with sites that might sell used CPUs/Graph boards to Europe, I would appreciate too.

Some years ago you could buy a synology enclosure an add inn PCI 10GB adapters, M2 cards and memory of your own choice.
The recent releases of hardware has moved away from standard PCI addon NIC and are now using proprietary synology NICs. We also see firmware banning several memory types and SSD drives. Even the drive compatibillity list “hides” 3rd party drives and only list synology drives by default.
People choose Synology because of great flexibillity in hardware and great software. Is synology taking the flexibillity away and moving to a synology eco system with overpriced Synology addons and banning 3rd party hardware?
Do we see the start of Synology’s downfall in terms of usabillity, functionality and pricing?

So I recently have become interested in purchasing some sort of gaming computer, be it a pc or laptop really depends on where I can get the most bang for my buck. I’ve done some financial budgeting and come to the conclusion that I have roughly 1239$ to spend in total, and I was wondering what the best gaming/laptop I could get with that amount of money. Is it worth it at that price range or should I really try and save more? The kinds of games I wish to play are things such as Star Citizen, Dayz, Arma, Borrowtrauma, and Elite Dangerous.

I know, A/B Test… I am doing a few A/B tests to see if there is any difference. Most of our campaigns hover around a 30% conversion rate, with some being over 45%. I recently read in a book that listing pricing will actually increase conversion rates for service businesses most of the time. Personally, I don’t like seeing a website that doesn’t have pricing, but I also just typically back out if I don’t like the price. Part of me would rather have the customer call and say “No” than just have them back out. But, on the flip side, maybe it will prevent wasted calls and actually get more qualified people to call.
Looking for someone to provide insight that has actually done testing and has seen a verifiable difference. What’s your take?

Had a great dinner at Terroir in Lisbon the other night, which got included in the Guide Michelin just this year I’d I’m not mistaken. You go into their tasting menu completely blind, as they don’t tell you anything about the current menu other than letting you choose between 5 or 8 moments (both available as vegetarian options, too).
After previously having been let down by this concept of going in blind (Carte Blanche in Frankfurt, Germany), we were both very pleasantly surprised by just how well the menu at terroir flowed into each other, as well as how openly the staff communicated with us, which dishes were staples and which were in a bit of a testing phase. Funnily enough, the one that was the newest was our personal highlight: the “moment from the sea” seemed like a very wild mix of different seafoods at first glance and the aroma of the aged tuna sauce was room filling, but man, what a taste explosion this was in your mouth. Like an oyster cranked up to 100. Very memorable dish for me.
The rest was more a bit more safe, but still thoroughly enjoyable, the tuna bread, bacalao and petit fours (which were rolled out and introduced by the pattisier herself in a wooden cart that looked straight out of an evil dead movie) being especially impressive.
Also want to mention the amazingly friendly and attentive service. I just love restaurants where the staff seems to have fun and even find the time to joke around with you.
Wine list is almost 95% Portuguese, but had a great Alvarinho from Soalheiro for an amazing price.
Definitely recommended, if you want to try something a bit more casual in Lisbon.
