hey all, this is a question more for Los Angeles-based folks; with pride month in full swing, I'm feeling pretty heavy fomo. It's been awhile since I've been to a gay bar or club; the last time was at the Abbey years ago. Are there any spots in Los Angeles that are particularly friendly to gaysians, or at least where a gaysian would not be/feel out of place? Any places in particular to avoid? So I need some advice on how to address this… My daughter who is 16 going on 17 next month has been dating this individual for about 3+ years and “hes” very polite and a nice kid he also moved into our home after he got kicked out of his own home in which he lived in another town 15 min away from where we live. Fast forward to now.. Recently my mom instincts have kicked in and noticed some things were off like for one he has breast and at first I told myself to ignore it because some guys do produce breast tissue and I didn’t want to ask him out of making him feel embarrassed as well as myself. Next I noticed the family portrait he has in my daughters room and he’s not in that family photo but there is a young girl who resembles him in that photo. There is also the situation of him not transferring schools and when I offered to help him get his paperwork he brushed it off and said he will get it taken care of himself. So in a school ID he had of that young girl who looked like him, had a first and last name lets say Carlee. So my daughters boyfriend did get back in touch with family but we still have not meet them yet because of the “language barrier”. I seen a necklace my daughter had with that name Carlee and it has made my suspicions FACTS and right now I don’t know how to address the situation. I’m not in no way against my daughter being Bi or Gay and she knows that because my oldest daughter was exploring in her early teens as to figure out if she was gay or bi and she was very open to me about it and as for her father he’s not against it but he don’t like it. I just need some advice on how to address this situation and if you ever been in a similar situation how did you handle it. (Also I forgot to mention my youngest daughters BF did introduce himself as a male with a boys name and all this time to now we’ve known him as a boy.)

Hey all. I’m 31 and ready to come out to my dad. I don’t really know how. My therapist encouraged me to also express how his queerphobic comments have made me feel over the years. I keep trying to draft an email to send him but I’m getting nowhere. We’re close and I know telling him is going to break his heart as I’m his only “daughter”…though I understand I’m not responsible for his heart. My brother came out to him and gay and he responded “so?” He will probably just shove all his emotions down like he always does and respond similarly, but I need him to know that what he has said all this time has affected me and made me feel very badly. For context here is my previous post. Basically I have a shitton of trauma around housing security and have been recently homeless so I've been falling apart over here since I am under a deadline of sorts to leave my current apartment. It's an unstable situation.
But yeah, I signed a lease. I don't feel relief though? I feel scared and like something will go wrong. I feel like I made a mistake. It's about 20/mo more than my current apartment which was a really good find with rental prices going up like they are in my area. But it's farther from work so I will have to pay more in gas money. But it's much smaller. But I don't know my neighbors and they are very close by, what if they're abusive, what if they yell, what if they don't like the fact that I'm gay, what if this and this and this?
And ALL I can think about is how I've made a terrible mistake and all of my decisions will always be bad forever. I really tried on this one. I got other people to look at the lease with me so that I had more eyes to see if there was anything shady. I even negotiated some things with the landlord like putting in an A/C unit, something I've never been able to do. I talked the price down on some things.
But all I can think about is how I don't know my neighbors, all I can think about is how I'll be further away from work and what if that ruins my life somehow? I actually give a shit about my own wellbeing now which is SUPREMELY uncomfortable. Five, seven years ago I was signing leases left and right not giving a shit who I lived with or if they were abusive or if the landlord wanted to fuck me over. No. Now I care, now I actually want things to get better for me because they've been bad by default for almost three decades and I just keep thinking of everything that could go wrong.
Anyway. I just... need to talk to people about this because everything hurts and I wish I could feel a little relief for finding a place to live instead of just... almost more fear than before? Because now I've signed something and it feels like I just sealed my fate somehow. I know that's a trauma belief but yeah. Just needed to bounce it off of you guys

Why does JBP claim it's not a community? Recently in his talk with Walsh, he said emphatically that it is not a community (he said this on Crystal Kyle and Friends, too) because they don't share values (does a community have to share values?), but I've been to L+ events for their churches, choirs, picnics, and sports leagues, and there is FOR SURE a community. Hell, theirs a sports league! And they support people and develop networks, that have shared values of openness and compassion, etc. So what is he talking about? He also said that "I think the gay community (?) was a hell of a lot better off when they were oppressed by the heterosexual monogamists than when they're allied with the trans activists." Does he mean that the trans activists are a splinter in the imaginary community or the real community?

Istg my brother pisses me off more each time I'm not even that mad I mean I was But now I'm more scared than anything
I always knew he was like this, especially lately, bcs he always makes comments about it. He always talks shit about people he thinks r beneath him, like in a degree that has a lower final grade (average of high school with final exams, normally a 50/50) or that he deems not as good as his, he even says fucked up shit to HIS OWN FRIENDS SOMETIMES, all of this without counting with the racist and homophobic jokes he likes to make. Considering all of this, he also tries to hit where it hurts when we fight, bcs he knows it hurts (stuff u would usually respond with "uau that's low even for u", or reveals things he knows u don't really want to talk about)
But, even with all of this, he's still my brother, and our relationship was never that bad so ofc I tell him stuff sometimes. Or at least used to. My dumbass came out to him some years ago, even if at the time he didn't take it seriously. The problem is, today I made a joke about pride month ("it's June do u know what that means? The gAyS") and he answered "aren't u one of them?" and that's the moment I understood he had finally taken what I told him years ago seriously (even if I was already suspicious of that before)
Now. The dude likes to hit low as I said before. He even told me to kms twice (talk about triggering) or that I need him more than he needs me (ouch) so I know where he likes to hit, he has also outed friends of mine to my parents before and said stuff like "but why does she have so many gay friends" to our homophobic parents
My degree has a lower média than his even though we go to the same uni and I always knew he kind of thought himself above other people bcs he scored great on the national exams and I didn't, but I never thought much of it bcs my final high school score was still higher than his, so, u know, maybe he gets we r kinda on the same ground? (Although I have always been insecure about comparing our intelligence)
Today we had a stupid fight (normal sibling behaviour) but ofc he had to make it worst so he made sure it did
He told me I didn't get in the curso I wanted (which I did, but I didn't like it very much so I was thinking of changing this year) and when I told him that he said "well if that's all u r aiming for then ur life is gonna be very sad", which basically meant he thought my curso was shit and that it doesn't amount to nothing. All of this and he also said "yh but at least I got good grades on the exams, at least I try study and work for my goals unlike someone I know" Which yh bitch I know I barely studied this year. Sorry if sometimes I felt like laying in bed all day and doing nothing while spending every day trying not to embarrass our parents by being a shit daughter by AT LEAST doing at least the bare minimum. Sorry if I thought and still think I'll never get to be 19. U think I wasn't taking u seriously when u told me to off myself? Bruh.
It really hurts knowing that, if he knew, he would use my depression (probably Ig, I have never been diagnosed) and my self harm against me. It hurts to know he will probably out me someday (which I'm absolutely terrified of) and that he would throw my cuts right to my face during a shitty argument (that would never really amount to nothing) if he could BCS SIBLINGS FIGHT BUT WHY R U TRYING TO HURT ME SO BAD

For context here is my previous post. Basically I have a shitton of trauma around housing security and have been recently homeless so I've been falling apart over here since I am under a deadline of sorts to leave my current apartment. It's an unstable situation.
But yeah, I signed a lease. I don't feel relief though? I feel scared and like something will go wrong. I feel like I made a mistake. It's about 20/mo more than my current apartment which was a really good find with rental prices going up like they are in my area. But it's farther from work so I will have to pay more in gas money. But it's much smaller. But I don't know my neighbors and they are very close by, what if they're abusive, what if they yell, what if they don't like the fact that I'm gay, what if this and this and this?
And ALL I can think about is how I've made a terrible mistake and all of my decisions will always be bad forever. I really tried on this one. I got other people to look at the lease with me so that I had more eyes to see if there was anything shady. I even negotiated some things with the landlord like putting in an A/C unit, something I've never been able to do. I talked the price down on some things.
But all I can think about is how I don't know my neighbors, all I can think about is how I'll be further away from work and what if that ruins my life somehow? I actually give a shit about my own wellbeing now which is SUPREMELY uncomfortable. Five, seven years ago I was signing leases left and right not giving a shit who I lived with or if they were abusive or if the landlord wanted to fuck me over. No. Now I care, now I actually want things to get better for me because they've been bad by default for almost three decades and I just keep thinking of everything that could go wrong.
Anyway. I just... need to talk to people about this because everything hurts and I wish I could feel a little relief for finding a place to live instead of just... almost more fear than before? Because now I've signed something and it feels like I just sealed my fate somehow. I know that's a trauma belief but yeah. Just needed to bounce it off this group.

We have 3 corgis. The one I'm concerned about is an 11 year old female. Within the last week, she's started taking forever to go pee in the morning. She goes poop just fine. I walk her and my other two around our acre of property every morning and have done so for years and there was never really any issue before. We live in the country and can't afford a fence, though we're working on it. We have neighbors that are related to each other and their properties are across ftom each other (one uphill and one downhill), and both let their dogs roam free. On occasion their dogs come in our yard and drive my dogs bonkers. Their two properties are downhill at an angle where you cant see their dogs approaching our yard until they're already in our yard. Asking the neighbors to keep their dogs out our yard is out of the question as my neighbors are sketchy people with teenagers that are little shits and we're not willing to deal with crap ftom them. Last week I went to take my dogs out and slipped on our front steps and in the process, two of my dogs leashes (one being the 11 year old girl) slipped off my wrist. Normally they're very good about not running off but that day just so happened to be a day where our neighbors dogs showed up out of nowhere and my dogs chased after them. I got my dogs back fairly quickly. Ever since then, I feel like my senior dog spends a good chunk of time looking in the directions that their dogs have entered our yard from (their dogs walk through a few different yards so they've entered our property from several areas so there isn't really a spot I van take her where she won't look for the dogs). It's gotten to the point where I've been getting up so instead of taking 15 outside in the morning its taking 25 minutes and I can only get her to pee half the time. My husband goes to work about 30 minutes after me so he's been taking her out when she hasn't peed for me. She's fine about 50% of the time and goes pretty quickly in the afternoon, only seeming distracted sometimes and she goes perfectly at night (I'm guessing this is because it's dark so she can't see the perimeter of our property). She's eating and drinking like normal and playing like normal. She's not whining when she pees, goes the normal amount. I even took a puppy pad out with us to be able to look at her urine and it's the normal color (no blood or anything like that, doesn't smell worse than normal).She's not having accidents inside and behaving normally. She gets her shots and yearly blood workand looks great for her age. She does take Prozac for anxiety, gabapentin for nerve pain in her front leg, and carprofen and glucosamine for hip dysplasia as well as a daily multivitamin. She's taken all those for years except gabapentin which she started in February. Is this just her being distracted? Is this possible beginnings of dog dementia? Could this possibly be a bladdekidney problem? We'll happily take her to the vet if needed but before we have to drop a bunch of money for tests I'd like to get some outside perspective.
