2023.06.05 13:14 Shadowkiva Why isn't TFATWS considered a good show by fans?
The only criticism I can maybe sort of understand is that it's a circular narrative i.e. Endgame left with Sam accepting the new role and promising to do his best, then on Disney+ he spends another 5 episodes getting back around to that starting point... but even then I didn't mind that so much because it helped expand the MCU post-blip worldbuilding.
I really liked a lot of the new characters introduced especially the ones that will likely show up again in future and I give it bonus points for something I'd never really thought about before as a comics fan - that is that realistically there'd be a lot of people jokingly or even genuinely viciously saying "Uncle Sam? More like Uncle Tom" (hardiharhar so funnyš). It's rare for a piece of fictional media to shock me out my escapism like that, and I give credit to the show writers for doing that with thoughtful maturity.
I also think the Flag Smashers resolution (especially the "do better" speech) could have been constructed a bit better but other than that I think it was a great show to kick off the Disney+ slate of shows with Wandavision and give a spotlight to these less central characters from the movies. Bucky's deprogramming scene in Wakanda as Ayo recites the activation codes to no avail still gets me very emotional. It was one of the few moments that still make me think Phase 4 is just as much worth our emotional investment as any of the other phases.
Curious to hear what other fans thought of the show whether their opinions on it are positive or negative and why.
P.s I will also agree that Karli Morgenthau's actress doesn't sell the "charismatic, courageous revolutionary social movement icon" very well if at all. But that's about where my cons list ends.

Classic tale as old as alcoholism. Had about 126 days sober when, suddenly, thoughts of drinking ice cold beer were creeping back in. I thought about it for at least 2 weeks before finally decided to try it again.
April 22nd, 2023. That's the day I made the decision to drink again. I was so scared of the possibility of heading back to the hell I used to live in that I didn't drink the same night I bought it. Eventually, curiosity and fuck it's got the best of me. I had been slowly transitioning back to working full time after recovering from a surgery. The stress of being back in the old grind tickled the old neural pathways of stopping at the store on my way home. The first couple times I drank were actually pretty nice. I got a good buzz of a just a few beers and for a brief moment in time everything felt like it was gonna be okay.
Fast forward a few weekends later and I'm puking my guts out on a Friday afternoon after binging the equivalent of 9 drinks in the span of less than 2 hours. My skin quickly getting hagged out after having such a nice, healthy glow from treating myself well. Gaining weight back that I fought hard to lose over the winter, spending hundreds of dollars of craft beer. Cause drinking cheap stuff is just depressing and gross. All kinds of rules and limitations of when/ were and how much I could drink slowly slipping away. The damn writing is on the wall, it always has been for me. Just needed to kinda vent and call myself out.
So far it hasn't been as rough or depressing as my last relapse, but I see it heading that direction quickly if I don't put my foot down now and do what needs to be done. I don't think I'll need detox, yet I have been drinking the equivalent of 8-12 drinks a day for about a month now. Just keep thinking about how awesome I felt when I had few weeks or a few months sober. I want that back more than anything right now.
TL;DR: Field research mixed results, yep... still an alcoholic!

Hi all, Iām a 28 year old male and in the past year itās come to light that a lot of the issues Iāve been noticing myself having, especially since I was about 15, point towards ASD. Iām on a U.K NHS 27 months waiting list for diagnosis. In the mean time Iām left to struggle with coping. I didnāt get a job until I was 27 due to a multitude of reasons from general and social anxiety, poor executive function and planning skills, continuous meltdowns every couple of days caused by stress of responsibilities and expectations and my inability to keep up. This cycle was compounded by added depression and feelings of low self worth and esteem, leaving me in a big soup of distress and misery on the daily. Iāve been to various therapies a fair bit which has helped my emotional regulation substantially. Iām financially supported somewhat by my dad who I still live with and Iām ever grateful for being understanding and helpful, however I lack support in other areas as he works extremely hard and long hours and is always too tired for anything expect work. I suspect he is on the spectrum too but has managed to do quite well financially, but not in other areas of his life. Otherwise I work 3 days a week on construction sites as an electrical labourer earning minimum wage. I take home Ā£242 a week. The point Iām getting to and what I seem to be struggling most with is that after being at work for the day, I come home and simply cannot function. My entire body becomes zombified and I feel like a shell of a human, unable to process conversations with my partner or process words on a page or manage to listen to a tv show and understand it. This progresses every night after work until the Friday/weekend. Over the weekend I have to do absolutely nothing apart from my weekly shop and relaxing activities, otherwise I find myself slipping into severe burnout/Meltdown territory and I regrettably become irritable, aggressive, and depressive. I think itās a fight or flight thing due to being so overloaded. If I spend Saturday and Sunday relaxing, I can sometimes manage to cope with doing other things on the Monday/Tuesday, such as chores, maybe getting a bit of exercise or sorting out things that need doing such as hair cuts, organising appointments etc. Iām really really struggling to keep up with everything, in fact Iām simply not able to. This puts me in a horrible position whereby I earn so little I can barely afford to progress in life, Iām so incapable of basic functioning most of the time outside of work that it feels impossible for me to progress in my job as it requires extensive studying and going back to college, which I genuinely cannot cope with, plus I really donāt enjoy what I do for work and would prefer a quieter job with much less commute as Iām commuting 1hr20 each way currently. So Iām stuck earning minimum wage unable to work more hours due to walking the thin tightrope that is my mental health and sanity. IS THIS TYPICAL? Am I justified for feeling this way? I feel such so ashamed at my lack of ability to keep up with the amount of work that is expected to earn a living. Never mind progressing in that career at the same time.

I'm trying to figure out to what extent our concept of Italic peoples/cultures relies on them speaking languages of the same IE branch. The reason I'm asking is that it seems pretty clear to me that even if for some reason we knew nothing whatsoever about the Greek language, we'd still group the Ionians, Dorians, Aeolians, and Achaeans including their colonies together based on a number of shared cultural aspects including religion, architecture, military tactics, art, and so on, so I'm wondering whether something similar (if less extreme) applies to the Italian peninsula. The Etruscans, for example, seemed to have as much Yamnaya/CWC ancestry as the Latins and both cultures had major Hellenic influences as well as other shared customs, but I don't know enough about other Italic cultures to judge whether there were fewer differences between them and the Latins than between Latins and Etruscans when taking language out of the equation entirely.
