I travel a lot for work and cannot afford to lose a checked bag, so I only do carry-on. This means I need to pack both casual and business attire, which can be challenging. It has taken some practice and watching a lot of Youtube videos on packing, but I am getting close to what works for me. I'd appreciate any advice you have. The bag is a bit on the heavy side but still within the airline’s limits and I’m able to lift it into the overhead bins on my own. Below is what I packed for a 10-day trip.
THE BAGS:
Carry-on luggage by Sigg – it is a discontinued brand but I love it. The 2-wheeled bag is a super tough (ballistic nylon) exterior with a compression zipper, telescoping handle, and a zipped water bottle holder on the outside. Normally, I’m a spinner luggage kind-of-gal, but the 2 wheels on this bag can be pushed somewhat like a spinner rather than dragged like most 2-wheeled bags. It also has a couple outer zipped areas for a laptop, pens, thin papers, etc). On the inside it is split in two major compartments, with the base fully lined with waterproof nylon that opens with zipper (I keep my garment bag under the liner just in case there are any spills in or around my bag), built-in compression straps, a mesh center divider for underclothes, and one side with elastic shoe sleeve pockets. There are a couple smaller pockets along the edges of the bag interior, including one thin waterproof one.
Personal Item by BagSmart (a Nomadlane dupe), fits under the seat in front of you and opens up fully like a suitcase. 2 main compartments and two additional exterior pockets which is handy but there are features of this bag I don’t like, such as the trolley sleeve and waterbottle sleeve—both are too tight to be useful. But it is a fraction of the cost of the Nomadlane bag, so it will work for now.

Maintain normal business appearance but minimize by wearing neutrals and all within the same color palette. Buy travel sizes of almost everything, organize by dividing items into smaller containers by type and time of usage (on the plane vs in the hotel room vs at work vs out touring); Economize space by bringing fewer bulky items by using the hotel’s hairdryer, steaming my business clothes in the bathroom while I shower or use the hotel’s iron, have shoes and clothes that are versatile for several outfits but also reuse/wash (in the sink) clothes as necessary. Try to get a workout in when possible.

My Dad owes child support debt that he's still paying off 7+ years after his youngest son became 18. To put it into perspective: my mom wanted a big family so she convinced my Dad to have 3 kids with her before they were married. They finally get married and a month later she cheats on him and divorces him. My parents were fairly young at the time (24-26) so my Dad getting suddenly ripped from his family at such a young age lead to situations where he wasn't able to pay for 3 children for the majority of the time. But my Dad has made decent money since we became 18+ so all the accumulated debt has been slowly being picked away at over the years. The issue is that none of us have received a cent of the child support, meanwhile it seems like my Mother buys a new car once every 6 months. And I understand that it's usually the case that the debt goes to who it was originally owed for "compensation" or whatever but I'm wondering if there's a case for the child support to go to us (his three children) directly (or maybe be abolished altogether?) if there's proof that it was my Mother's fault the marriage ended, my Dad wasn't able to pay support at the time, and that the child support she receives now she doesn't need in the slightest and she basically uses for luxury? Plus I'm pretty sure my Mother always had more money coming in than my Dad, given her new husband always had fairly high paying electrician jobs. So the concept that she needed the child support when we were children might be flawed as well. I don't know, this is just something that's always on the back of my mind. My Mom destroyed his life when they were young and she's still holding his progress back now 22+ years later, all because he was a naive 20 year old who wanted a family. Is there any way to file a motion for this or something along those lines?

Early in 2022, my parents (78M, 75F) engaged a contractor about building them a deck. They provided mockups of the deck they wanted superimposed over images of their house; clearly visualizing what they were looking for. They agreed on $16,000 + materials, with work to commence in the spring.
The bad news: this contractor is not licensed / bonded and there was no SOW / contract signed. The good news (?): All of their conversations happened over Facebook Messenger / text, which clearly details their agreement and events as they unfolded.
Contractor stated he would need a $10k deposit, to be paid when he came around to measure. Upon taking the deposit check, he said he would need another $4k for lumber / materials, which he would purchase. My parents wrote him another check, and they all agreed to store the lumber in my parent’s barn.
Some days later, he showed up with a crew and building materials. Day 1 they set the posts; Day 2 they framed out the deck. A storm rolled in cutting Day 2 short - contractor said they didn’t have time to transfer lumber to barn, but they would be back in a few days to complete the job. I think you know where this is going…
My parents reached out via text after a week, after 20 days, after 30 days - each time asking when contractor and crew would be back. 45 days later they expressed concern about their lumber being stored properly and he replied with a ton of excuses - he had been ill, there was some issue with his son, etc. - he said he would be back out the following Tuesday to complete the job. Nope.
From April to October, my parents texted 20+ times, as well as leaving multiple voicemails. Occasionally, texts / Facebook messages would be marked Read, but he never replied. In early 2023 my parents (finally) informed contractor they were going to the police, and he replied he’d been meaning to get back out but winter makes it hard, and asked if they could set something up for spring. Cue him never responding again - eventually the line was disconnected. He was never coming back to finish.
I am just now learning about this on a visit to my parents, they have been hiding this out of embarrassment. Firstly, I am gobsmacked that my typically savvy parents would just…hand over bags of money to some internet rando. But then, reading through all the message threads, seeing my parents earnestly trying to connect, confused, pleading for any communication at all for months and months…I am beside myself with rage and hell bent on getting justice for them.
This is where I could use some guidance - I don’t know how much justice is possible here. This is no longer about the money. Of course I want recompense, but this is about what he put my parents through. The total dehumanization of fraud. I am livid.

The bad news: this contractor is not licensed / bonded and there was no SOW / contract signed. The good news (?): All of their conversations happened over Facebook Messenger / text, which clearly details their agreement and events as they unfolded.
Contractor stated he would need a $10k deposit, to be paid when he came around to measure. Upon taking the deposit check, he said he would need another $4k for lumber / materials, which he would purchase. My parents wrote him another check, and they all agreed to store the lumber in my parent’s barn.
Some days later, he showed up with a crew and building materials. Day 1 they set the posts; Day 2 they framed out the deck. A storm rolled in cutting Day 2 short - contractor said they didn’t have time to transfer lumber to barn, but they would be back in a few days to complete the job. I think you know where this is going…
My parents reached out via text after a week, after 20 days, after 30 days - each time asking when contractor and crew would be back. 45 days later they expressed concern about their lumber being stored properly and he replied with a ton of excuses - he had been ill, there was some issue with his son, etc. - he said he would be back out the following Tuesday to complete the job. Nope.
From April to October, my parents texted 20+ times, as well as leaving multiple voicemails. Occasionally, texts / Facebook messages would be marked Read, but he never replied. In early 2023 my parents (finally) informed contractor they were going to the police, and he replied he’d been meaning to get back out but winter makes it hard, and asked if they could set something up for spring. Cue him never responding again - eventually the line was disconnected. He was never coming back to finish.
I am just now learning about this on a visit to my parents, they have been hiding this out of embarrassment. Firstly, I am gobsmacked that my typically savvy parents would just…hand over bags of money to some internet rando. But then, reading through all the message threads, seeing my parents earnestly trying to connect, confused, pleading for any communication at all for months and months…I am beside myself with rage and hell bent on getting justice for them.
This is where I could use some guidance - I don’t know how much justice is possible here. This is no longer about the money. Of course I want recompense, but this is about what he put my parents through. The total dehumanization of fraud. I am livid.

I've been working on trying to get this Mod API working for Yugioh LotDLE and I think I'm getting close though I've run into a road block I'm hoping someone can weigh in on. Currently I have both the game and mod launcher set to use GE-Proton8-3 in Steam.

I know the title sounds bad. I've started a job where I just didn't vibe with the team and which I quickly left before. So I know the feeling of not fitting in and being uncomfortable.
But this guy joined the company more than 6 months ago. He's in his mid 20s with a degree in our industry. Yet he acts and works like an inexperienced 15-year old student who's doing their mandatory traineeship. I've trained him and provided him with lots of resources to use when I'm not there. After a while, I let him do the (simple office) job alone, but told him I'm always available for questions. Well he didn't ask questions, he just did stuff wrong. Even things I had shown him repeatedly, he had notes about or manuals on.
So the team had a crisis meeting with the boss and another person was picked to train him again. Basically starting from 0, although he was already there a couple months. The new "trainer" babied him through everything. Explaining every little step again and again with the patience of a saint.
After another 3 months, she kinda gave up and now everybody just lets him do his thing, correcting his mistakes when they blow up. He has not improved at all.
The issue is, he's just not learning. He grasped a few tasks quickly in the beginning and continues to do them well. Everything else he couldn't do and still can't, despite there being lots of templates and examples available. And quite frankly, for most tasks those aren't even needed if you use common sense. His memory is extremely bad (if you ask him about an email from 2h ago he won't know what you're talking about), he has no social skills whatsoever (he avoids talking to anyone and if he has to, he mumbles so badly you can't understand him). Never takes responsibility for anything. He seems extremely uncomfortable and intimidated BUT at the same time quite arrogant (he likes to demand all kinds of new stuff for his desk and alter processes when he doesn't even understand the original way of doing them, he's often late and just shrugs when cautioned, etc). When he does try to have smalltalk, he says weird stuff that makes me uncomfortable. When asked about why certain mistakes keep happening and how we could prevent them, he just mumbles "I don't know". The boss has had many feedback meetings with him but nothing changes.
I feel bad for him, because by now everybodys pretty much avoiding him and just waiting for someone new to get hired. He probably has some kind of disorder, but if that prevents him from doing the job then this isn't the right match. The only reason he hasn't gotten fired yet, is because we're badly understaffed and he does usually get the most tedious tasks of the job right.

I am from Sweden. The worst sting we have are Yellowjackets, the worst bite are Vipers, and the worst plant are singing nettles. I have in my 27 years never seen a wolf, and the biggest wild animal I ever spotted was a Lynx/Deer.
Even I know the 3 golden rules when it comes to nature:
God gave me 2 hands and 5 fingers to hold and pet things.

Hello YOASOBI, I am u/mawariyu, part of the mod team and I am coming to you with simple guidelines to create posts of higher quality!
Wowow ok wait a minute there..this is coming out of nowhere.. kinda?Short flashback: 2 Years ago the subreddit reached it's first 1k members, an amazing milestone for a niche subreddit like this! Back then I used to do weekly posts with YOASOBI related news (I managed 36 weeks and then I got tired of it tbh). While the subreddit grew, YOASOBI as a group was a bit on a hiatus at that time, releasing new songs rather sporadically.
In the last couple months the pace picked up: The YOASOBI JP Arena tour started and the new Oshi no Ko Opening song IDOL was released. Just to give you guys some numbers: IDOL (jp ver.) was released roughly a month ago, and within the last month this subreddit got 240 new members. With a total of now 3.7k members, roughly 6.6% have been part of this subreddit for less than 30 days.
And first of all I want to say: THANK YOU for loving YOASOBI! The growth of the subreddit in the last 2 years is amazing, and I hope to see the subreddit grow even more.
**BUT*\* With increasing traffic on subreddits comes one problem: Post quality decreases.
How do you measure post quality? I did a quick google search and couldn't find something to copy and paste, so here are my 5 cents on what increases/ decreases the quality of a post: (Following is all an opinion)

I’m F 19, I’ve struggled with extreme skin picking or ‘dermatillomania’ for as long as I can remember. I’ve also struggled with extreme rumination & the core belief that I’m innately a terrible & malevolent person. I hadn’t realized how common these experiences were till I went to an actual OCD therapist & looked through this subreddit, so thank you everyone who’s shared their experiences.
I’ve only recently been diagnosed with OCD. I sought out a diagnosis after getting diagnosed with ADHD & getting prescribed medication. The medication helped me exponentially & got rid of my depression completely but aggravated my skin picking, anxiety & just general OCD symptoms. I don’t blame the medication entirely though cus it felt like a damn had been on the brink of collapse for a while & the meds were just the drop that broke it.
I had gone to psychologist & psychiatrists before & had been diagnosed with general anxiety & depression, & CPTSD. I never really felt understood by the therapists I had seen. I always felt uncomfortable with the diagnoses “general anxiety & depression” cus ya I’m anxious & depressed but about very specific things or at very specific times, not generally. A lot of the advice they’d give either would be pretty useless or make me feel worse.
One of the first pieces of advice that I remember actually made me worse was “argue with your thoughts, look for evidence that they’re not true”, ya that didn’t work for me at all. OCD argues back like someone who’s been in competitive debate since they were in diapers, & just recently graduated top on their class in law at Harvard, it always has a ‘gotcha’ & if it doesn’t it’ll just make you feel insurmountable foreboding anguish, & unfortunately you can’t really do that back to it.
I always thought OCD was cleaning or washing your hands or checking locks or doors because you believe it’s preventing bad things from happening to you or the ppl you love. I never considered what I was doing, zoning out for 3+ hours picking my skin while going over, picking apart & criticizing everything I had ever done until I felt I had done it ‘enough’ was a compulsion or obsession, I just thought that I had bad skin & was being proactively self aware & self reflective. I didn’t know it was abnormal to experience the amount of guilt I was experiencing I just thought I had done especially bad things compared to everyone else & was experiencing the appropriate amount of guilt for what I had done.
It’s weird to read other ppls experiences & see my experience through this suddenly more objective lense, the OCD is still had it fingerprints all over it but I have hope now that I may one day see a clearer view.
