2023.06.06 21:19 oknidius Any leaf vac/mulcher rumours?
My old corded leaf vac gave up. Looking to replace with battery powered.
I know EGO is great at releasing the same mower, blower, string trimmer and snow blower every 8 months with incremental improvements.
But has anyone heard any grapevine rumours about developing or releasing a leaf vac/mulcher?
If not, I guess I'll go Ryobi or Worx.
Thanks for any rumours you may have heard!

2023.06.06 03:31 samw427 Printed a Ryobi Leaf blower hook
2023.06.06 03:02 DogNamedCharlie Ryobi 30" vs. EGO 21"
After about 7 years, my Toro front wheel snapped off the deck and it is making it a PITA to mow. It is attached by axle, but there is no height control. My wife also says she wants more room the garage, she complains about gas smell, and I wouldn't mind something quieter.
Seeing how the E-mowers stow and other attributes that I like, I am looking at two different walk behinds that are vastly different.
1) EGO lm2156sp MSRP $850, onsale $700
2) Ryobi 30" Walk behind 80v RYPM8001 - MSRP $2,000, includes $3-400 Ryobi blower + trimmer.
I like the idea of mowing about the 50% more in each pass. Though I am concerned as I see Ryobi has no IPX rating, while many other companies like EGO & Greenworks do. Both of these have 5 year battery warranties, though Ryobi has a lot of different battery voltages, while it seems EGO is all about the 56V. I do have a Ryobi gas trimmer and a couple different attachments and it is about 2 years old and my old one lasted longer than any mower, I only tossed it as ethanol ate up the fuel pickup line. The 80V seems like a double edge sword, more powerful motor, but the current MSRP is more than the EGO. Though I hope 3rd party or refurb/recelled batteries will be around in the future and maybe the price will drop.
I only have a 1/3 of an acre, it is mostly flat, with the exception of a burm in the back. I have a few trees I go around. The ground is made bumpy by the winters. I don't know how much time a 30" will save me, but I think it seems cool, but a bit unproven.
Granted I view either option as cheaper than having someone else mow for me.

2023.06.05 01:00 Bayside_High 40v chainsaw, get chain sharpened right out of box?
| Just bought this chainsaw. It seemed like it was burning through the wood, not really cutting. Should I get it professionally sharpened or do myself (Ace is $13 to sharpen on it) Seemed like it was running slow (compared to a gas one and also a neighbor's Kobalt one). It has a full charge submitted by Bayside_High to ryobi [link] [comments] |
2023.06.04 19:01 TheGeekFreek Adapting Garage-door Accessory to 18 or 40v?
Getting ready to move and will have to leave my Ryobi garage door system in the old house.
Wondering if the Fan accessory can be adapted to use the Ryobi 18v or 40v batteries. Or even just an AC plug.
Not sure what the fan is rated for and can’t find a pinout of the plug. Hoping something out there already exists but didn’t have any luck finding it.

2023.06.04 05:39 cutlass484 Rigid String Trimmer Runtime/Overheating
What is your experience with the new string trimmer?
I have used both the 6ah Octane and Maxoutput batteries. I can get 15 min or so before the trimmer shuts down/over heats. If I wait a couple minutes it'll start it back up and run for another 2 to 3 minutes before over heating and shutting down. I'm having to use my Ridgid jobsite blower to blow air in the vents to speed up the cold down time.
I use the lowest setting and try not to press the trigger all the way down.
I left a negative review on the HD website. Ridgid responded and told me to email them. They sent me a replacement and I'm still having the same issue.
I'm considering the ryobi 40volt trimmers with a 72 minute runtime but I am a loyal Ridgid customer and have lots of batteries.
I'll probably just have to deal with it. But I do love this trimmer. It's definitely powerful.
Side note: I saw a video with a guy that modded his ryobi trimmer. He purchased another fan blade (the same one that is installed in the trimmer) and attached it to the existing fan blade so that it blows air in another direction towards the controller and he is able to sustain long run times until his battery is drained.

2023.06.04 00:15 CrackaJakes Older 40v lawnmower only takes low profile battery — has anyone retrofit to accept new thicker profile batteries?
I own an older 40v self propelled mower - along with a host of other ryobi lawn products. Over the years, I’ve collected a handful of batteries but have been mainly buying the new 6ah with a thicker profile. While they work in almost everything, they don’t work in my lawn lower — and the last of my low profile batteries just died and is no longer under warranty.
Any suggestions on retrofitting? I’m contemplating opening it up, but the insert is essentially the entire cover. I pulled the connecting clip in hopes it would have extra wire to pull it a bit, but no such luck.

2023.06.02 19:43 silver9ings Leaf Blower suggestions
Hello, I'm interested in suggestions for a good Ryobi leaf blower from DTO or HD. Currently have a EGO leaf blower 56v 480CFM, purchased in 2018 from HD but the battery just died. While we loved the leaf blower, the battery costs as much as a new one! We have slowly switched over to the Ryobi setup over the last year 18v 2ah + 4ah power tools and 40v 6ah brushless lawn mower. The lawn is a little shy of 5000sq ft. Thanks!

2023.06.02 09:40 Pelvur Ryobi lawn mower acts weird after some years, how to repair?
I have a 20in 40V brushless battery powered Ryobi mower that I bought in Home Depot back in 2015.
I have a weird issue with the mower where if it turns down while mowing (e.g. grass is too tough), it cannot be restarted with the buttons (the ones on the handle) until I take the battery out and reinsert. It did not have this behavior for the first 6 years or so.
If I stop the mower myself, then it can be restarted with buttons with no issue
I have two batteries and both behave the same so I think it is not a battery issue. I also have a trimmer which works just fine with the same batteries.
Can someone give me a hint what an issue could be and how I might be able to fix it.
Thanks!

2023.06.02 05:31 ZorOmega 40V 4ah Battery Question
Recently got a 20 inch greenworks mower with a a 40v 4ah battery, model 2516302. It's advertised to mow up to a half acre on the battery. Luckily I had another, same battery for my leaf blower cause it died a little over half way through the mow. I know those numbers aren't super reliable, and admittedly my grass was a little taller than normal after a lot of rain, but my yard is only . 27 acres. Is this normal? This was my first cut with the mower, so does the battery need a couple of uses first before it gets to full capacity? I mean it did the job with both batteries, which is ok, but it was cutting it close. Just want to know what to expect. Thanks in advance.

2023.06.01 02:28 oknidius Bristle brush sweeper: works well with 40V brushless power head?
Greetings!
Couldn't find this addressed previously.
I currently have the Ryobi Expand It Sweeper (bristle brush) attachment and the DeWalt 60V DCST972 Powerhead. The Dewalt powers the bristle brush really well.
Wondering if the Ryobi 40V brushless Powerhead can power the sweeper attachment well? Videos online appear split on the topic. I played with the string trimmer version the other day and the Ryobi powerheads felt really cheap and flimsy compared to the Dewalt.
https://www.ryobitools.com/products/details/46396027801 https://www.ryobitools.com/products/details/46396039408 Reason I ask is: I only have one DeWalt Flexvolt battery. I don't plan on getting any more Dewalt Flexvolt tools (even though DeWalt is releasing a single stage Flexvolt snow thrower later this year).
To do my whole lawn (surface / shallow depth dethatcherake) or driveway (snow), I would need one more Flexvolt 9AH battery. Looking at the price of Flexvolt batteries, I'm almost better off getting the Ryobi snow shovel kit. For a slightly higher price, instead of just one more DeWalt battery I'd have one more Ryobi 40V 4AH battery (already have 2 x 4AH and 1 x 6AH), a Powerhead and a snow thrower.
But considering how flimsy the Ryobi powerhead felt, I'm having doubts as to its performance with a power hungry attachment like the sweeper.
